Ethereum Treasury ETHZilla Reveals $250 Million Buyback After Stock Craters

by admin August 25, 2025

In brief

  • Ethereum treasury company ETHZilla has announced a $250 million stock buyback program.
  • The firm’s stock is down by more than 50% over the last week, evaporating most of its recent gains.
  • Ethereum recently hit a new all-time high price, breaking a record that stood since 2021.

ETHZilla Corporation—a publicly traded Ethereum treasury firm formerly known as 180 Life Sciences—announced Monday that its board has authorized a stock repurchase program of up to $250 million of the company’s outstanding shares, effective immediately.

The move comes following a substantial dive for the firm’s stock price last week. ETHZilla, which trades on the Nasdaq under ETHZ, is down more than 53% on the week to a current price of $3.18, with the drop coming after a surge that tripled the stock’s value after billionaire VC Peter Thiel bought a stake in the company.

Last week’s price decline came as the company filed with the SEC on Friday to offer 74.8 million convertible shares, as part of an agreement reached on August 8. The filing fueled dilution concerns, as the total amount of outstanding shares is set to grow from 164.4 million to over 239.2 million.

ETHZ stock is down nearly 3.8% on the day following the stock buyback announcement. ETHZilla has given up most of its recent gains following last week’s price plunge, with the stock showing a less than 5% rise over the last month.

The Palm Beach, Florida-based company also disclosed it now holds 102,237 ETH at an average acquisition price of $3,948.72, valued at approximately $474 million as of this writing. The firm also has about $215 million in cash equivalents. The Ethereum tally includes 7,600 ETH acquired over the last week.

“At ETHZilla, we continue to deploy capital to accelerate our Ethereum treasury strategy with discipline and record speed,” said ETHZilla Executive Chairman McAndrew Rudisill, in a release. “As we continue to scale our ETH reserves and pursue differentiated yield opportunities, we believe an aggressive stock repurchase program at the current stock price underscores our commitment to maximizing value for shareholders.”

ETHZilla plans to stake its most recently purchased Ethereum tokens to Electric Capital’s proprietary Electric Asset Protocol to generate yield, the company said.

The stock repurchase program is scheduled to expire by June 30, 2026, or when $250 million in shares has been repurchased. The program will be funded through working capital and potential future fundraising efforts.

The price of Ethereum hit an all-time high Friday for the first time in nearly four years, and continued to rise higher on Sunday, peaking at a new record of $4,946 according to data from CoinGecko. It’s down more than 4% over the last 24 hours, however, falling to a current price of $4,604 as the broader crypto market sags.

Despite the dip, Myriad users believe that ETH will continue to rise to new peaks and cross the $5,000 milestone by the end of 2025, with 86% of users predicting such a move. (Disclaimer: Myriad Markets is a product of Decrypt’s parent company, DASTAN.)

Avengers: Doomsday rumor reveals shocking ally for Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom

by admin August 25, 2025

Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom will make his MCU debut in Avengers: Doomsday, and he may enlist the help of a familiar sorcerer, according to a new rumor.

Once upon a time, every Marvel fan knew Thanos was coming and that he wanted to gather the Infinity Stones for his gauntlet, with the threat (and aftermath) of his universe-halving snap being the catalyst for Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

The same can’t be said for Doomsday and Secret Wars. All we know is that Doctor Doom will be involved, Downey will play him and his likeness to Tony Stark is part of the story, as well as the stars who were announced as part of the movie’s livestream earlier this year.

Article continues after ad

The assumption is that it’ll have something to do with the multiverse, with Doom trying to save (or avenge) his world from an incursion – which is where one hero could come in.

Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom could team up in Avengers: Doomsday

During an episode of The Hot Mic, insider and reporter Jeff Sneider said he’d “heard that Doctor Strange is with Doom… he’s on that side of things.”

This also comes after The Beyond Reporter claimed that not only will Strange work with Doom, but he’ll be considered a villain. Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus also reported that Strange will be tasked with fixing an incursion in Doomsday, “by any means necessary.”

“This would be a good time to remind everyone that the flow of time is different in the Dark Dimension since it is basically nonexistent. So, even though it’ll have been 3.5–4 years since Stephen Strange has been on Earth, imagine how much time would have passed in the Dark Dimension?” he added.

Marvel Studios

Remember, Strange was whisked away by Clea (the daughter of Dormammu, played by Charlize Theron) because his actions triggered an incursion – in layman’s terms, the impending collision of two Earths caused by multiversal shenanigans.

That’s important context, considering another Cosmic Circus report said Doom sees “the incursions that are happening as a danger to the multiverse, and he wants to put a stop to it using a young Franklin Richards.”

“He sees himself as the hero in this story and will do whatever it takes to make sure he stays on top,” it added.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026. In the meantime, read more about who Tramell Tillman should play in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and check out our ranking of the MCU movies.

Ayn reveals a Nintendo DS-style handheld that comes in the classic Game Boy Color purple

by admin August 25, 2025

Ayn added more than just a touch of nostalgia with its upcoming dual-screen handheld that gives us modern-day Nintendo DS vibes. After teasing the device in a YouTube video earlier this week, Ayn dropped the full spec sheet, price range and release date for its Thor handhelds. The Thor Lite base model will start at $249 for preorder pricing, but you can opt for the top-of-the-line Thor Max model that goes for $429. Besides the clear purple colorway, the Ayn Thor will come in black, white and rainbow, which colors its buttons like the SNES.

Ayn built all of its Thor models with a primary six-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, while the secondary 3.92-inch AMOLED screen will have a 60Hz refresh rate and a smaller 1,240 x 1,080 resolution. The Thor Lite maxes out at 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage, but you can upgrade to 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage with the Thor Max. The Pro and Max models will pack a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, while the Lite will use the less powerful Snapdragon 865.

Outside of the spec differences, all Thor models will run on a 6,000 mAh battery and Android 13. The dual-screen handheld will have video output capabilities, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, a TF card slot and can connect via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. As with all foldable devices, the hinge is often a point of failure, so Ayn built the Thor with a reinforced hinge, along with an active cooling system and Hall effect joysticks.

Ayn isn’t the only handheld maker getting into dual-screen devices. The market was previously dominated by the Ayaneo Flip DS, which currently starts at $1,139, but Ayaneo has announced a more affordable dual-screen handheld called the Pocket DS. Along with the Retroid Flip 2 that was released earlier this year, Retroid is selling an add-on accessory to make some of its other products into a dual-screen handheld. As for the Ayn Thor, preorders start August 25 at 10:30PM ET, with the first shipments expected in mid-October.

Last Week to Buy XRP at Discount? Price History Reveals Possible Scenario

by admin August 25, 2025

XRP is a week from flipping the calendar to September, and according to price history by CryptoRank, this is where the fall setup usually forms. September itself isn’t a layup though as the average return for the month is +14.7%, but the median is -0.32%, which means a typical September is either flat or a bit red.

However, the month has thrown big winners before — +73% in 2018 and +46.9% in 2016 — and those exceptions are what keeps the average in the green.

You Might Also Like

Where the real statistical heavy hitters are clustered is Q4, not September. Across XRP’s price history, the final quarter of the year averages +147.3% with a median ~+0.7% for the cryptocurrency.

Source: CryptoRank

That split tells Q4 is dominated by a few monster runs rather than steady gains. Examples: 2013 (+150.6%), 2014 (+426.1%), 2017 (+1,064%), 2024 (+240.1%). On the other side, there were soft finishes like 2018 (-39.1%), 2019 (-26.5%), 2020 (-8.0%), 2021 (-12.7%), 2022 (-29.2%). In short: Q4 is where the extremes live.

XRP in 2025

This year’s path sets the stage cleanly. 2025 monthly: Jan. +46%, Feb. -29.3%, March -2.52%, April +4.98%, May -0.80%, June +2.95%, July +35%, Aug. -0.09% (to date). That puts Q3-to-date near +34.9%, a familiar pre-fall pattern where summer chop gives way to a higher-beta finish.

Check out the monthly chart — XRP is testing the $3 area again. In previous cycles, sustained prints near this zone came right before multi-month legs higher. And then there’s the seasonality: A pretty flat median September that often leads into a bigger Q4, where the average is boosted by a few really big runs.

You Might Also Like

This doesn’t necessarily mean that 2025 will have the same kind of blowouts, but the timing does make sense. With one week left in August, the market is entering that time of year that has historically been XRP’s biggest advance season — not because every fall is green, but because when the big years happen, they tend to happen in Q4.

Kumail Nanjiani Reveals His ‘Eternals’ Future That Could’ve Been

by admin August 23, 2025

It’s no secret the MCU entered the 2020s with some growing pains. A pandemic will do that to you, ditto a spottier output, and one of the more divisive projects was Eternals. At the time, it seemed Marvel had some plans for the immortal beings, and thanks to Kumail Nanjiani, we now know what that would’ve looked like.

In a recent episode of Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out podcast, the one-time Kingo revealed he signed on thinking he’d be a longterm MCU player and alternate between that and non-blockbuster work. According to him, Marvel Studios had him sign up “for all this stuff. I signed on for six movies, a video game, [and] a theme park ride. I was like, ‘This is gonna be my job for the next 10 years.’” Those plans, which likely also applied to costars like Angelina Jolie and Brian Tyree Henry (and is probably standard across all MCU actors), appear to have fallen through, since the Eternals have been MIA for nearly four years and Marvel’s not said much about them since. And the only other time they’ve been brought up was a season three episode of What If…? that saw Nanjiani voice an alternate version of Kingo.

Breaking down the different parts of Nanjiani’s statement, his mention of six films likely applies to at least two Eternals sequels and three guest appearances in other characters’ movies. The theme park ride probably relates to his likeness, and the video game is a little trickier to determine. Nanjiani’s done voice work for video games before, so it could be he would’ve played Kingo across one of Marvel’s mobile titles like Strike Force, or even Fortnite, since both have seen Ryan Reynolds reprise his role as Deadpool. (Hell, if you wanna really get out there, maybe they thought he’d be such a fan-favorite to land a spot in Marvel Rivals.)

Regardless, Nanjiani still has pride in Eternals, even while acknowledging its “really bad reviews” affected him so much he went to therapy, where he realized “too much of my self-esteem was tied up in other people’s reaction to my work.” Given Marvel’s recent moves in the past year, though, maybe the studio will bring Kingo and his fellow Eternals back for something in the next few years.

Xbox Reveals ROG Xbox Ally X Handheld Release Date But Not Price, Due To ‘Macro-Economic Conditions’

by admin August 21, 2025

We’re officially in the Gamescom cycle, which means a steady stream of previews, like our hands-on impressions of Hollow Knight: Silksong, and news tidbits. Xbox provided the latter today, announcing that its upcoming handheld line, the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, will hit store shelves on October 16, just two months from now.

However, while the release date is clear, we don’t yet know how much either product will cost. In a roundtable interview with IGN, Asus senior vice president Shawn Yen said, “I think we will have to… we need more time to figure the macro-economic impact to pricing, and that’s why we’ll be sharing more later, in September and October.” Because the prices aren’t yet live, neither are pre-orders.

The handheld is made in partnership with Asus, a company that has been producing the ROG Ally handheld for a few years now. The cheaper models currently retail for around $500 USD, so it’s likely that a partnership between Asus and Xbox would go for around that amount or higher.

Xbox’s release date announcement also detailed some of the handheld’s new features, including a handheld compatibility program, which helps to indicate which games are best suited for handheld play, similar to the Steam Deck’s verification program. On Xbox, games will either be “Handheld Optimized” or “Mostly Compatible,” with the latter requiring “minor in-game setting changes for an optimal experience on handheld.” There’s also a “Windows Performance Fit” rating to judge how well the game will run on your device.

Stay tuned to our Game Informer coverage to see our hands-on impressions with these devices. In the mean time, catch up on the coolest games we’ve played at Gamescom 2025, which we’ll be updating as the week continues.

GameScience reveals Black Myth: Zhong Kui

by admin August 20, 2025

Chinese studio GameScience, creators of Black Myth: Wukong, formally revealed their upcoming action RPG “Black Myth: Zhong Kui” at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20, 2025.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui serves as the second installment in the Black Myth franchise, presenting a single-player action role-playing experience grounded in ancient Chinese mythology. Developed by GameScience using Unreal Engine 5, the game draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese legend “Zhong Kui Banishing Evil”.

The development team promises unique gameplay mechanics and experiences that challenge their creative boundaries, while incorporating innovative concepts and improvements designed to resolve previous shortcomings and unfulfilled ambitions.

About Zhong Kui

The story of Zhong Kui was first recorded in “Tang Yishi” (“Unofficial History of the Tang Dynasty”) and gained wider circulation through Northern Song scholar Shen Kuo’s (1031–1095) “Dream Pool Essays”. Born on Mount Zhongnan, Zhong Kui travelled to Chang’an during Emperor Gaozu’s Wude reign to sit the imperial military examination but failed. In despair, he struck his head on the palace steps and died. Grateful for the green burial robe (the attire of lower-ranking officials, a token of imperial recognition) bestowed by Gaozu, he vowed to rid the Tang realm of every Xuhao (Chinese: 虚耗, Xūhào, meaning “wasteful expenditure” and “consuming blessings for nothing”) ghosts and harmful spectres.During the Kaiyuan era of the Tang dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong fell ill, and a month of treatment brought no relief. One night, while asleep in sickness, he dreamed of a small ghost slipping into the palace to steal Consort Yang’s embroidered sachet and his own jade flute. The ghost called itself Xuhao, a bringer of waste and disperser of blessings. Just as the emperor was about to summon someone to expel it, Zhong Kui rushed into the hall, seized the creature in one swift motion, gouged out its eyes, and swallowed them whole. The emperor awoke drenched in a cold sweat—only to find his illness cured.Taking this as an auspicious omen, Xuanzong ordered the court painter Wu Daozi to create “Zhong Kui Capturing the Ghost”. From then on, it became customary to paste images of Zhong Kui on household doors at year’s end, especially on New Year’s Eve, to “banish baleful wraiths, and still the miasma of evil”.
