Saudi-backed Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Valley of Memories free DLC to be revealed later today

by admin October 6, 2025

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Valley of Memory – a free major update coming to the Ubisoft Blockbuster – has been officially teased via a new cinematic trailer ahead of a full reveal later today.

According to the teaser video description, that full reveal will arrive at 9AM PT / 12PM ET / 5PM BST / 6PM CEST.

The Valley of Memory DLC, first announced by Ubisoft in August, will be set in the ancient Arabian city of AlUla within Saudi Arabia. The DLC will include a new story chapter, new missions, and a variety of gameplay improvements.

Check out the teaser trailer for Valley of Memories here.Watch on YouTube

The DLC was reportedly developed thanks to a deal between Ubisoft and the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the national wealth fund of Saudi Arabia. Ubisoft declined to comment when asked by Eurogamer back in January.

The Public Investment Fund is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing attempt to diversify income for the oil-rich nation, as well as a dedicated push to improve its global image. Saudi Arabia has been criticised heavily for its history of human rights abuses, and blamed for the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Only last week, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund was part of a three-way bid to turn Electronic Arts private for $55bn. If approved, the American games industry giant will be saddled with $20bn in debt in 2027.

Winners of the UK Best Places To Work Awards 2025 revealed

by admin October 4, 2025

The UK Best Places to Work Awards 2025 took place at the Royal Institution in London on October 2, with special awards going to Behaviour Interactive, NaturalMotion, Observer Interactive, Maverick Games, Rare, and Wushu Studios.

The awards ceremony took place after the GamesIndustry.biz HR Summit, which was attended by 141 representatives from 60 companies, including AAA, AA, and indie studios, as well as consultancy firms, training providers, and educational institutes.

The main Best Places to Work awards recognised a total of 23 firms across three categories – small, mid-sized, and large companies – for their excellence in supporting staff. These awards are judged on the basis of an employee survey (worth 80% of the score) and a company survey (worth 20%).

Rare picked up the Environmental Award for the second year in a row

The Best Places to Work Awards 2025 was sponsored by Amiqus, Games London, ICO Partners, Lighthouse Games, and Playground Games.

“Again, this year’s GI.Biz Best Places to Work Awards has provided a great platform for the amazing teams and studios we have here in the UK,” said Paul Evans at Playground Games. “It has been an honour to sponsor the 2025 awards for the UK’s best mid-sized game studios who are making the UK video games industry such a great place to work.

Rocksteady was one of the winners in the mid-sized company category

“We’ve always believed great games come from bringing together talented people to do their best work,” he continued, adding that Playground Games’ win in the large company category is “a testament to our own incredible teams who make Playground Games such a great place to work every day! Building exceptional games starts with building an exceptional culture, and we’re committed to creating the environment where everyone feels valued.”

“Lighthouse Games is delighted to sponsor the Best Small Company Award,” said Gavin Raeburn, CEO of Lighthouse Games. “Small companies bring bold ideas, fresh takes, and incredible energy to the games industry, and this award is a chance to shine a spotlight on the commitment of these teams. We’re proud to help celebrate.”

Alison Lacy won the G Into Gaming Award

“I was delighted to have presented Alison Lacy with this year’s G Into Gaming Award, which celebrates individuals who go above and beyond to champion diversity, inclusion and positive change in the games industry,” said Liz Prince, business manager at Amiqus.

“Alison’s impact at Radical Forge has been nothing short of transformative – what she describes as a ‘quiet revolution.’ By listening, collaborating, and drawing on her wealth of cross-industry experience, she has reshaped how teams work together, introduced new structures, and created a culture where people feel motivated and heard.

“Beyond Radical Forge, Alison’s contributions as a trustee of FACT and Co-Chair of Game Changers highlight her wider commitment to building a more inclusive and supportive industry. The G Into Gaming Award is about recognising those who drive progress in meaningful ways, and Alison is a truly inspiring and deserving winner.”

Afterlight Kickstarter Trailer Revealed, Crowdfunding Starts Next Week

by admin October 3, 2025

The studio has also announced that actress Carolina Ravassa (Overwatch, Dragon Age: The Veilguard) has joined the cast as Captain Khali, an adventurous and loyal pirate that will help the crew across the adventure.

Coming to Kickstarter next week, Starfinder: Afterlight is a story-rich, turn-based RPG video game set in the Starfinder universe, and based on the Second Edition rules. Players will create their own character and lead a crew whose captain has vanished. In order to save the galaxy from annihilation, they must gather their team of charmingly questionable companions, scour the stars, face enemies armed with magical powers and advanced tech, and ultimately decide the fate of the galaxy.

Starfinder: Afterlight centres on building bonds with unforgettable companions who are more than stats and abilities. The space crew players revealed so far include Kole (class: Soldier, voiced by Fred Tatasciore), Tycho (class: Operative, voiced by Inel Tomlinson), Lu-323 (class: Envoy, voiced by  Melissa Medína), and Sterling (Class: Solarian, voiced by James Alexander). Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate 3, Resident Evil Village) takes the role of voice director for this upcoming turn-based RPG.

Starfinder: Afterlight is developed by Epictellers Entertainment and supported by Paizo. Players can now register to be notified when the Kickstarter campaign goes live on October 7th, add the game to their wishlists, join the Official Discord Community, follow the developers on Instagram, Bluesky, X, LinkedIn, and visit the official website for more details.

More action than RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 struggles to convince after a few hours' play
Game Updates

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 voice cast revealed, includes Returnal’s Jane Perry and Still Wakes the Deep’s Alec Newman

by admin October 1, 2025

Paradox and The Chinese Room have revealed the voice cast performing in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, the action role-playing game which is barely a month away now. The game releases on 21st October.

The actors for all major and notable characters have been named, and feature the likes of Jane Perry, known for her BAFTA-winning performance in Returnal, and Alec Newman, who won a BAFTA this year for his performance in Still Wakes the Deep.

Watch on YouTube

The full list of names given in the trailer are:

  • Female Phyre (the player character): Tommy Sim’aan
  • Male Phyre (the player character): Hara Yannas
  • Fabien: Ronan Summers
  • Lou Graham: Jane Perry
  • Michael “Tolly” Tolliver: David Menkin
  • Safia Ulusoy: Amrita Acharia
  • Ryong Choi: Kae Alexander
  • Katsumi Ishizaka: Elizabeth Chan
  • Ysabella Moore: Joan Iyola
  • Fletcher: Rufus Wright
  • Mrs. Amelia Thorn: Bethan Dixon Bate
  • Simeon “Silky” Ladock: Alan Turkington
  • Niko Angelov: Martin Razpopov
  • Patience Boswell: Billy Peck
  • Onda Cardoso: Jamilya Ocasio
  • Max Webber: Osy Ikhile
  • Willem Axel: Richard Brake
  • Benny Muldoon: Patrick O’Kane
  • Bet of Night: Amanda Huddleston
  • Gideon Hall: Alec Newman

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has had a turbulent development and a rocky road to release, courtesy of questionable paid-DLC plans that were subsequently reversed (the playable clans that were going to be charged for are now included in the base game) and an unconvincing preview showing.

For all it might lack the RPG depth that followers of the Bloodlines series might want, and that players of the tabletop Vampire: The Masquerade game might want, Bloodlines 2 does appear to have good production values and strong cinematic character performances. Let’s hope it turns okay.

Top Terror Teemo has been revealed for 2XKO, and he looks like the most disgusting zoner I’ve seen in years

by admin September 30, 2025

Riot Games has released a gameplay trailer for Teemo, the 10th character coming to 2XKO. This trailer, which introduces the infamous Yordle Scout to the fighting game genre, presents him with a cute and jubilant aesthetic as well as an absolutely rancid moveset.

For those who don’t know, Teemo is a beloved League of Legends champion that was part of that game’s base roster all the way back in 2009. Known for his blow pipe and frustrating shenanigans, he’s been recreated in 2XKO with a lot of his trademark moves and more.

As you can see below, Teemo is coming with a new stage alongside the game’s Early Access launch on the 7th October. This stage in the release schedule for 2XKO will also mark the introduction of the game’s first season as well as the final content reset for the game, meaning anything earned is yours forever.

Check out the 2XKO Teemo trailer here!Watch on YouTube

This trailer shows a fighting game character designed by maniacs. Teemo has various projectiles, a brush you can teleport to, poison and flame effects, mushrooms he can throw out that stick on the screen and provide him ample cover. He can also delay his fall speed to bait out anti-air attacks from his opponent.

One of Teemo’s supers brings out a giant mushroom that bounces whimsily towards his opponent and while being projectile invulnerable, which is nasty work. Oh and he can turn himself invisible too for a short period of time, which is really just the cherry on top of a nightmarish monster of a character.

If all of this sounds negative you’re forgiven for thinking so, but the truth is that this is exactly what Teemo should be like when brought over to a fighting game. To live up to his character in League of Legends where he was first let loose on the world, he needs to strike that balance between cute and utterly infuriating. Anyways, it probably won’t be that hard to play against… Just block, bud.

Solana, XRP, Cardano: SEC's 19b-4 Withdrawals Revealed

Solana, XRP, Cardano: SEC’s 19b-4 Withdrawals Revealed

by admin September 30, 2025

  • Breaking anticipations
  • State of XRP

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) website has disclosed the withdrawal of 19b-4 filings for a number of anticipated exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for cryptocurrencies. Projects related to Solana, XRP, Cardano, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Polkadot, Hedera and even Ethereum staking ETFs under generic listing standards are among those impacted. The withdrawal of these filings essentially puts a stop to what many had thought would be the next stage in the growth of crypto ETFs.

Breaking anticipations

It was always anticipated that the path forward for products focused on altcoins would be more challenging, even though Bitcoin spot ETFs were approved earlier this year. Regarding smaller or more volatile digital assets, regulators have frequently voiced concerns about investor protection, market surveillance and liquidity. The ruling suggests to investors that altcoin ETFs might not be a reality just yet.

ETF applications continue to be complicated by the regulatory ambiguity surrounding whether specific tokens are subject to securities law. In contrast to Ethereum and Bitcoin, which have been treated more clearly in the U.S., the legal status of assets like XRP and Solana is still unclear due to regulatory discussions. Short-term institutional inflows into these altcoins may be slowed by this development.

State of XRP

Exposure to assets like XRP or ADA is still restricted to direct spot trading or more intricate derivatives in the absence of ETF vehicles. For traditional investors who depend on regulated ETF products for allocation, this limits accessibility.

XRP/USDT Chart by TradingView

Despite the news, XRP’s price performance demonstrates cautious optimism. Currently trading at $2.17, the token is trying to hold above its 100-day EMA and break above a descending trendline. Technically, a sustained move above $3.00 would be noteworthy, but the low volume indicates that traders are holding out for more powerful catalysts.

All things considered, the SEC’s decision to withdraw these 19b-4 filings highlights the difficulty altcoin ETFs encounter in the United States. Bitcoin and Ethereum will be the main beneficiaries of institutional ETF adoption until regulatory clarity improves, which will limit altcoin exposure.

Xbox ROG Ally Prices Revealed, Pre-Orders Now Live

by admin September 27, 2025

Microsoft and Asus have revealed the price points for their two models of the handheld PC, the Xbox ROG Ally. And, unsurprisingly, they’re not cheap.

The Xbox ROG Ally was revealed in June during the Xbox Game Showcase and is an Xbox-branded model of Asus’ Steam Deck competitor, the ROG Ally. The device’s primary selling point is its ability to run Xbox games and apps natively, including those from Game Pass, allowing players to access their Xbox software library on the go. Powered by Windows 11, the Xbox ROG Ally can also run other platforms such as Steam, Battle.net, and GOG.

Launching on October 16, pre-orders are now live in 38 countries for the two models: The ROG Ally and the more powerful ROG Ally X. Here’s what they cost:

Xbox ROG Ally X (1TB): $999.99

Xbox ROG Ally (512GB): $599.99

These premium prices were to be expected (especially since the standard ROG Allies are generally quite expensive), but the sticker price may sting from potential Xbox converts still reeling from Microsoft’s recent announcement of a second price increase to its Xbox Series consoles starting next week. Xbox and Asus likely knew it would have to bite the bullet as well, as they seemingly withheld revealing the price for as long as possible while eying the economy to determine the appropriate pricing. It will be interesting to see how many players will be willing to shell out that kind of money for an ROG Ally, given the rising prices of video game hardware across the board going into the holiday season.

If you’re looking to buy an Xbox ROG Ally but can’t decide between the two models, you can read more about the specs of each version here. Do you plan on buying an Xbox ROG Ally? Let us know in the comments.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds adds Mega Man next year, with post-launch roadmap now revealed

by admin September 27, 2025

Sega has revealed the post-launch roadmap for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, including last night’s announcement that Mega Man will be joining next year as paid DLC.

Capcom’s iconic hero will be joined by Proto Man too, plus there will be a Dr. Wily’s Castle course and a vehicle inspired by canine companion Rush.

The DLC will be available in Q2 next year in the third patch of the game’s Season Pass. That begins later this year with the addition of Minecraft and SpongeBob Squarepants, with Pac-Man to follow early next year.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds | Mega Man Reveal TrailerWatch on YouTube

Then, Q3 of 2026 will see the arrival of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and anime Avatar Legends. Each Season Pass Content Pack includes playable characters, a new vehicle, a new track, emotes and sounds.

In addition, there will be a number of free updates adding new characters and more. Hatsune Miku and Sonic Prime characters are available at launch for Digital Deluxe owners. Then later this year Joker from Persona 5 and Ichiban from Like A Dragon will be added, along with another unknown character.

More free additions will arrive in each quarter next year. You can see the roadmap in the image below.

Mega Man’s inclusion leaked last week, so his reveal at last night’s PlayStation State of Play came as little surprise.

However, the back of the physical box includes artwork for Sega Saturn icon NiGHTS, with fans presuming the jester character will be one of the free characters coming to the game.

Who else do you hope to see join Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds?

The Gathering Set And Secret Lair Drop Revealed For 2026

by admin September 27, 2025

MagicCon Atlanta just kicked off and with it, the roadmap for Magic: The Gathering in 2026. It includes seven sets and more branded crossovers than you can shake a Black Lotus at. If you thought this year was overstuffed, just wait. From Lorwyn and Star Trek to The Last of Us and Dwight from The Office, Wizards of the Coast is ready to take everything in your wallet, and your sanity, too.

Lorwyn Eclipsed – January 23, 2026

Wizards of the Coast

It’s been 18 years since players visited Lorwyn, the idyllic land of whimsical creatures like elves and merfolk. Lorwyn Eclipsed is one of the most-anticipated authentic MTG sets in years, with old mechanics returning to the spotlight and players getting to go back to where Planeswalkers were first introduced. I can’t believe it’s been that long. I still remember drafting my first Jace Beleren in college.

Mystery Universes Beyond set – 2026

Wizards of the Coast

Wizards of the Coast teased a mystery set it’s not ready to fully reveal yet. More details are coming during New York Comicon in October where, as others have noted, there’s a Magic and Nickelodeon panel planned. Are we getting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Rugrats? Hey Arnold? All of the above?!

Secrets of Strixhaven – April 2026

Wizards of the Coast

School is back in session. Secrets of Strixhaven will take players back to the plane of Arcavios where colleges of sorcerers-in-training compete for bragging rights in the Mage Tower. It’s Wizards’ knock-off of Harry Potter and we’ll find more about what its next set has in store in early 2026.

Marvel Super Heroes – June 2026

Wizards of the Coast

If any of the sets can rival the dominance Final Fantasy had this past summer, it’s this one. It’ll draw from characters across the Marvel universe, meaning Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and more. There will also be all the villains to account for. I’d have preferred just an X-Men set, personally. There’s way too much material to speed through in one set. But here we are.

The Hobbit – August 2026

Wizards of the Coast

A return to Tolkien’s world of hobbits, wizards, and dragons is on the way. The Lord of the Rings set was the first MTG Universes Beyond release to make a big splash. This set will be heading back to the prequel book and pulling from an earlier part of the Third Age. Will there be another One Ring card to rule them all this time around?

Reality Fracture – October 2026

Wizards of the Coast

Wizards has been setting up Reality Fracture as a big comic-book-style event that will reverberate across its multiverse. We have no idea what to expect really, but the company is teasing “a villain you’ll have to see to believe.” Is it the friends we made along the way?

Star Trek – November 2026

Wizards of the Coast

First Lego, now MTG. I’m embarrassed about how much money I’m about to drop chasing a surge foil full alt art Jean-Luc Picard commander card. The set will feature characters and ships from across the entire franchise. I can’t wait to make a Borg deck.

Secret Lair x PlayStation Superdrop

Wizards of the Coast

Secret Lair drops are always a mess and I’m guessing this one won’t be any different. Who’s ready to spend 45 minutes in an online queue only for Wizards to sell out and refuse to let you give it $100 at the end? The Kratos art looks incredible though.

Secret Lair x Jaws: Terror of Amity Island

Wizards of the Coast

Here’s the rest of the Secret Lair drop announcements, and somehow Jaws isn’t the weirdest one.

Secret Lair x The Office: Dwight’s Destiny

Wizards of the Coast

The Office was a funny show and the world is never gonna let us forget it.

Secret Lair x Iron Maiden: Album Art

Wizards of the Coast

I defer to the Iron Maiden x MTG fans on this.

Secret Lair x Iron Maiden: Eddie Unchained

Wizards of the Coast

See above.

Secret Lair x Furby: Doo-ay Noo-lah

Wizards of the Coast

Wut?

Secret Lair x Furby: The Gathering

Wizards of the Coast

???

Secret Lair x Furby: The OddBodies

Wizards of the Coast

Absolutely not.

ROG Xbox Ally Prices Revealed, Preorders Are Live At Amazon

by admin September 26, 2025

Asus has revealed the launch prices of the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X in the US. The ROG Xbox Ally is $600, while the more powerful Xbox Ally X clocks in at $1,000. The first Xbox-branded gaming handhelds launch October 16, and preorders are starting to go live at major retailers. The ROG Xbox Ally is up for preorder at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. The Xbox Ally X is only listed at Best Buy and the Microsoft Store (for now). An official carrying case is up for preorder for $70 at Amazon.

The $600/$1,000 price points are higher than some expected, though not all that surprising. After Best Buy quickly removed $550/$850 prices from the Xbox Ally store pages, it seemed likely that the prices of both devices would be at least a bit higher. As with many new tech products this year, Asus and Microsoft waited longer than usual to announce price points and preorder details. The ongoing tariff situation in the US has led to price increases for PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox hardware in 2025. Just last week, Microsoft announced price increases for the Xbox Series X|S in the US; the new prices take effect October 3.

Check out the specifications of each ROG Xbox Ally handheld below.

$1,000 | Releases October 16

The ROG Xbox Ally X, the more powerful of the two devices, has an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor (Zen 5), 24GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The Z2 Extreme is 8-core, 16-thread CPU; the GPU has 16 cores and is built on RDNA 3.5 architecture.

The grips are inspired Xbox Wireless Controller, and it has all of the inputs found on an Xbox controller as well as a pair of remappable back buttons.

Other small differences found on the X version: The UHS-II microSD card reader also reads UHS-I cards–the base model only reads UHS-I. One of the USB Type-C ports is USB4, while the other is USB 3.2 Type-C. On the base model, both Type- ports are USB 3.2. Xbox’s Impulse Triggers are found on the Ally X, while the base model has Hall Effect triggers.

Specs:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme
  • RAM: 24GB LPDDR5X-8000
  • Storage: 1TB M.2 2280 SSD
  • Display:
    • 7″ FHD IPS (Gorilla Glass Victus)
    • 120Hz refresh rate
    • AMD FreeSync Premium
  • Controller Design:
    • Contoured grips
    • Impulse Triggers
    • Shoulder bumpers
    • ABXY bumpers
    • 2 remappable back buttons
    • Analog sticks with light rings
    • 6-Axis motion controls
    • HD haptics
    • 5 menu/settings buttons
  • Ports:
    • USB4 Type-C
    • USB 3.2 Type-C
    • 3.5mm audio
  • microSD: UHS-II reader (also reads UHS-I)
  • Network: Wi-Fi 6E / Bluetooth 5.4
  • Battery: 80Wh
  • Weight: 715g
  • Dimensions: 290.8 x 121.5 x 50.7mm

$600 | Releases October 16

The ROG Xbox Ally has an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor (Zen 4), 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The Z2 A has half the number of CPU cores (4) and threads (8) as the Z2 Extreme. The number of GPU cores is also cut in half (8), and the GPU is built on RDNA 2 architecture. Overall, the ROG Xbox Ally looks to be comparable to the Steam Deck OLED in terms of specs.

Both models have 7-inch FHD IPS displays made of Gorilla Glass with 120Hz refresh rates and FreeSync.

Specs:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen Z2 A
  • RAM: 16GB LPDDR5X-6400
  • Storage: 512GB M.2 2280 SSD
  • Display:
    • 7″ FHD IPS (Gorilla Glass Victus)
    • 120Hz refresh rate
    • AMD FreeSync Premium
  • Controller Design:
    • Contoured grips
    • Hall Effect triggers
    • Shoulder bumpers
    • ABXY bumpers
    • 2 remappable back buttons
    • Analog sticks with light rings
    • 6-Axis motion controls
    • HD haptics
    • 5 menu/settings buttons
  • Ports:
    • 2x USB 3.2 Type-C
    • 3.5mm audio
  • microSD: UHS-II reader (only UHS-II)
  • Network: Wi-Fi 6E / Bluetooth 5.4
  • Battery: 80Wh
  • Weight: 670g
  • Dimensions: 290.8 x 121.5 x 50.7mm

Comparisons to the Xbox Series X|S are natural due to the branding, but it’s worth emphasizing that these devices aren’t really Xbox handhelds. The ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X are Windows PCs running custom UI that will remind players of the Xbox. At the end of the day, though, the ROG Xbox Ally is playing Windows versions of games. As such, the prices are more aligned with other Windows handhelds like the regular Asus-branded ROG Ally handhelds, Lenovo Legion Go, and MSI Claw. But that also means you aren’t restricted to the Xbox Store; you can launch Steam, GOG Galaxy, the Epic Games Store, and any other PC game client supported by Windows.

ROG Xbox Ally Accessories

Asus 2-in-1 Hard Case | Asus 100W Charger Dock

Official Accessories:

We also know the prices of two official ROG Xbox Ally accessories from Asus: A $70 hardshell carrying case with a built-in stand and accessories pouch, and a 100W Charger Dock. This is an AC adapter with a built-in HDMI 2.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports for accessories. It can be used to connect the ROG Xbox Ally to a monitor or TV.
