Relentless is back with the Rite of the Nine dungeon event in Destiny 2, and it got a few significant upgrades in its perk pool. Whether it’s Strand synergy you’re looking for or maximum damage (or both), this weapon has got you covered.
Relentless is a 340 RPM Strand pulse rifle from the Prophecy dungeon. The old revision from Season of the Wish had some decent perks, but the updated one really brings it up to the next level, especially for PvE, with perks like Tear, Firefly, Elemental Honing, and more.
Here are our PvE and PvP god rolls for the Relentless in Destiny 2.
What is the Relentless god roll in Destiny 2?

Relentless PvE god roll (Threadlings)
- Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
- Magazine: Flared Magwell
- Perk one: Firefly
- Perk two: Hatchling
- Masterwork: Reload Speed
The main Strand synergy with Relentless comes from Hatchling to create as many Threadlings as possible. When getting precision final blows or rapidly defeating targets, Hatchling creates a Threadling at the target’s location.
This perk synergizes perfectly with Firefly. Firefly creates a Solar explosion on precision final blows, and any kills you get with that explosion also count towards the “rapidly defeating targets” part of Hatchling. This gives Relentless maximum AoE and Threadlings.
Relentless PvE god roll (Sever)
- Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
- Magazine: Flared Magwell
- Perk one: Tear
- Perk two: Paracausal Affinity
- Masterwork: Reload Speed
If your build isn’t focused on Threadlings (say, Titan’s Banner of War build), you can lean into Sever with Tear. Tear causes nearby targets to become Severed when landing a precision final blow. There’s also Slice that does a similar thing, but requires you to use your class ability.
To replace Hatchling, you can go full damage with Paracausal Affinity, which grants a 20 percent damage buff for six seconds after securing a kill with a matching alignment (a kill with the weapon itself counts).
Relentless PvP god roll
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
- Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
- Perk one: Keep Away
- Perk two: Headseeker
- Masterwork: Range
The PvP roll remains the same, with Keep Away and Headseeker being the best perk combination. Keep Away grants 10 range when no enemies are within meters, and Headseeker increases precision damage as you land body shots. Other perks to look out for include Lone Wolf and Rapid Hit in the third column and Desperado in the fourth.
High-Impact pulse rifles aren’t in the best state, as the days of Elsie’s Rifles are over (at least for now), and nerfs made them less forgiving, but they still perform in the right hands.

The reprised Relentless is available during the Rite of the Nine event in Destiny 2. There are four versions of the weapon: base, holofoil base, Adept, and holofoil Adept, with Adepts dropping only from the Ultimatum difficulty.
Here are a few things to know to get more loot during Rite of the Nine:
- Attune to the weapon at The Emissary to have a higher chance of getting the selected weapon.
- Pick up the weapon quests from The Emissary for additional shiny copies.
- Redeem Nonary Manifolds at The Emissary for additional weapons (or save them until the end of the event, as there will be a new way to spend them during the last week).
- On weeks starting June 10, July 1, and July 8, Rite of the Nine’s Prophecy will have increased weapon drops.
