How State Channels Can Reclaim a Decentralized Web

by admin September 25, 2025

More than ever we are at the mercy of platform-based giants like Google and Amazon, who act as digital landlords. We have become cloud-serfs, giving our data and producing trillions in value for algorithms we will never own.

Over 80% of Netflix viewing is dictated by its recommendation algorithm, and Amazon is far from a neutral marketplace — its matching engine gives preferential treatment to Amazon’s own products, and third-party sellers pay up to 50% of their revenue in fees for the privilege of competing for Amazon’s customers.

The promise of Web3 was a world beyond these digital landlords.

Reclaiming the Web3 thesis

Web3, as defined by Ethereum co-founder Gavin Wood in 2014, was a “post-Snowden web” — an antidote to centralized control built on peer-to-peer trust.

Gavin’s architectural vision has been twisted.

Ethereum created “more individual millionaires than any other project” and together with the rest of the ICOs wave shifted the focus from technological principles to financial gains.

Billions of dollars were channeled into speculative ICOs, up to 90% of which suffered major losses or became defunct within a year. This culminated in the 2021 bull market, where the crypto market cap briefly touched $3 trillion, and “Web3” was diluted into a catch-all marketing term to attract investors.

The mission of building a trustless, peer-to-peer internet would for a time being be buried under layers of hype.

Intermediaries no more

The power of centralized platforms stems from their role as a trusted intermediary.

You trust Amazon to handle payments and arbitrate disputes with the sellers; you trust Google to vet, rank and present information. This trust-as-a-service model creates a golden cage: the intermediary owns the rules, the data and a significant cut of the value exchanged.

Early Web3 attempted to solve this problem with on-chain transactions, where every interaction is a public, permanent record. But this is like asking a global commerce system to run a single, congested highway. Real-world commerce requires an infrastructure that can match its speed and complexity — not everything should be an on-chain transaction.

State channels present a superior infrastructure

Think of a state channel as a high-speed, private lane between two parties that bypasses the congested blockchain. Thousands of interactions — value transfers, data permissions and contract updates — can happen instantaneously and for free, with each step cryptographically signed.

The primary barrier to peer-to-peer digital commerce has been the risk that one party won’t fulfill their side of a deal. State channel (ERC-7824) design eliminates this risk without sacrificing efficiency. Before transacting, parties commit funds to an on-chain smart contract. This acts as a security deposit. If one party walks away, their committed on-chain funds ensure the other party is made whole. By settling profits and losses in near real-time, the system removes the need for a trusted central intermediary.

  • For commerce: instead of renting space on Amazon’s platform and paying up to 50% in fees, a buyer and seller open a direct channel governed by an impartial smart contract.
  • For data: instead of surrendering your life story to Google, you open a channel with an app, granting temporary, paid access to your data and revoking it at will.

This combination of on-chain security and off-chain efficiency enables a new creation: the autonomous enterprise. This is a system where business logic is encoded onto smart contracts, executed transparently and operating globally without the need for a traditional corporate structure.

Bitcoin removed the need to trust the government’s money printing. Ethereum removed the need to trust people to enforce contracts. Now it’s time to remove the need for people to blindly trust platforms.

Ethereum ETFs reclaim inflow streak as ETH price holds $4,500

by admin September 16, 2025

Ethereum-tracking ETFs are back in the green, drawing fresh inflows as investor attention returns amid the asset’s steady performance.

Summary

  • Ethereum ETFs recorded about $360 million in inflows on Sept. 16, led by BlackRock’s ETHA.
  • U.S.-listed ETH funds have now posted five straight days of inflows, totaling $1.1 billion.
  • Bitcoin ETFs remain ahead with nearly $2.6 billion in inflows over a six-day streak.
  • Ethereum price is consolidating near $4,500, up 3.4% on the week and 8% from this month’s low.

Ethereum ETFs recorded about $360 million in inflows on September 15, according to SoSoValue data. This was their second-strongest daily figure since turning positive earlier this month, extending their recovery streak.

BlackRock’s ETHA accounted for the bulk of inflows with $363 million, followed by Grayscale’s ETHE with $10 million. In contrast, Fidelity saw $13.5 million in outflows, offsetting part of the day’s total, while the remaining six issuers recorded no activity.

With the latest activity, U.S.-listed exchange-traded funds have now logged a five-day inflow streak, recovering from the negative performance seen at the start of the month. Over this period, the products have attracted roughly $1.1 billion, though they still trail their Bitcoin (BTC) counterparts, which drew nearly $2.6 billion over a stronger six-day streak.

The rebound highlights renewed institutional interest in Ethereum ETFs after a cooling period earlier this month that coincided with price weakness. With ETH (ETH) itself now displaying signs of strength, investors appear more confident in the asset’s long-term outlook.

Ethereum ETFs strong as price holds key support

ETH’s price is hovering around $4,509 at press time, posting a slight 0.02% decline in the past 24 hours, according to crypto.news data. The second-largest asset is up 3.4% on the week and nearly 8% from its low earlier this month near $4,180.

On the charts, Ethereum remains above its 50-day moving average, now around $4,275, which acts as a key support level. The daily RSI is sitting near 54, pointing to neutral momentum rather than overbought or oversold conditions.

This setup suggests ETH is consolidating after its early September peak close to $5,000. A firm hold above $4,300 would keep the bullish structure intact, with the next test likely coming at $4,800 to $5,000. However, a breakdown below the 50-day average could open the door to further weakness.

If the current momentum holds, Ethereum ETFs could continue to attract strong inflows, potentially boosting performance into the final quarter of the year. Much will depend on ETH holding support above $4,500 and on broader risk appetite in the crypto market.

XRP Rival Stellar (XLM) Might Reclaim $0.50 in September, Here’s Reason

by admin August 27, 2025

Stellar (XLM), in the last 30 days, recorded an 11.17% decline in price as it experienced severe fluctuations on the cryptocurrency market. Investors backing the asset can, however, look forward to a bullish September with a strong likelihood of the price reclaiming $0.50.

Altcoin season speculation could boost Stellar price

According to Cryptorank data, Stellar has an average growth rate of 3.08% in the month of September, a big shift from the current extended drawdown. In 2024, the asset closed September with a 6.24% growth rate in price. If history is on the side of Stellar, the asset could repeat last year’s performance to post a strong bullish rally.

In the past 11 years, the asset’s highest growth rate has been bullish, with most months, like September 2014, posting a gain of 55.8%. The asset repeated outstanding performances in 2016, 2018 and 2022, with growth of 49.4%, 17.1% and 9.92%, respectively.

With predictions of a possible altcoin season soon, Stellar has enough bullish catalysts to push its price close to the $0.50 level. A bullish rally for altcoins will likely rub off on XLM’s outlook.

Notably, if Stellar grows at its September average, it will see the asset hit approximately $0.40, minimum. This signals better performance compared to its 5.64% average drawdown for August. It is currently down by 3.95%, hence the volatility that the altcoin has recorded.

XLM adoption grows as volume soars

As of press time, the Stellar price was changing hands at $0.3869, representing a 1.17% decline in the last 24 hours. XLM previously hit a peak of $0.3994 before it experienced volatility.

However, trading volume has increased by a significant 38.59% to $471.95 million within the same time frame. It suggests that investors in the ecosystem see this as a buy opportunity.

As reported by U.Today, Stellar has the potential to hit $0.50 with its early bullish signs like increased volume, which suggests growing adoption. The legal clarity of its rival, XRP, can support the asset’s upward movement in the next couple of days.
