Controversial shooter Ready or Not passes 13m copies sold across platforms

by admin September 8, 2025

Controversial and violent shooter Ready or Not has now sold over 13m copies across platforms.

In a press release, developer Void Interactive added that its game – which was released on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in July of this year, following a spell of PC exclusivity – has sold over 3m copies on consoles. That means Ready or Not has sold over 2m copies on consoles in under two months.

Ready or Not initially released in early access back in 2021, and soon after this Void Interactive said it had parted ways with publisher Team17.

Earlier this year, Void Interactive said that Ready or Not’s console port needed changes “as absolutely required by our first party partners” before it could be released on Xbox and PlayStation. This included tweaks to dismemberment and gore, nudity, mistreatment of children, and “explicit representations of violence”. This move ignited a certain amount of backlash from the game’s community, with some leaving negative Steam reviews citing “content censorship”.

Void Interactive sought to quell these concerns soon after, stating it had seen “misconceptions and misinformation circulating around the scope of these changes”.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.

After Indiana Jones, it sounds like MachineGames is ready to make another Wolfenstein game: ‘We have always seen this as a trilogy’

by admin September 7, 2025

At the end of the second episode of Noclip’s video series on the history of MachineGames, studio head Jerk Gustafsson dropped a bit of a bombshell: The devs at MachineGames would like to make a direct sequel to 2017’s Wolfenstein: The New Colossus.

“We have always seen this as a trilogy,” said Gustafsson. “That journey for BJ, even during those first weeks at id, when we mapped out New Order, we still had the plan for at least [BJ], what would happen in the second one and what would happen in the third one.

“I think that’s important to say, because—at least I hope—we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.”

Related articles

It isn’t surprising that MachineGames would return to the series eventually: It’s a storied name not only in first person shooters, but also stealth and simulation going back to the Apple 2 original. What I wasn’t sure about was the direct continuation of the story and world begun in 2014’s Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle definitely scratched a similar itch to the story-centric but mechanically rich new Wolfensteins, but their story felt a little stalled-out in the meantime. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus ended on an open, but potentially conclusive note, while the 2019 spinoff Youngblood jumped the story forward 20 years and centered on BJ Blazkowicz’s twin daughters.

A mainline follow-up would need to be an awkward interquel between Colossus and Youngblood, a continuation of the less-played and poorly-received spinoff, or some kind of timeline switchup/retcon—all challenging maneuvers for such a dramatic, narrative-focused series.

But I trust MachineGames has the chops to pull it off. Whatever form this sequel takes, though, expect to wait a good long while for it: MachineGames only just released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s story DLC, The Order of Giants.

Shiba Inu (SHIB): Ready to Fade Into Oblivion? XRP: Final Stand, Cardano (ADA) Bulls: Price Collapse Is One Move Away

by admin September 4, 2025

The market is on the verge of exiting the consolidation stage, with Shiba Inu, XRP and Cardano being on verge of their local formations that should boost volatility and push either asset into their next stage.

Shiba Inu at crossroads

With price action indicating the possibility of a significant breakdown, Shiba Inu is at a crucial crossroads. The token is stuck inside a narrowing triangle and is currently trading at about $0.0000123, but the overall structure is bearish.

Due to buyers’ inability to maintain momentum above resistance levels, each bounce has been weaker than the last. The consistent drop in trading volume is the most concerning indication. Volume has been declining since early August, which suggests that traders’ interest and involvement are waning.

SHIB/USDT Chart by TradingView

Declining volume during consolidation frequently precedes strong breakouts in cryptocurrency markets, however, since SHIB is already under pressure, the likelihood of a breakdown rather than a recovery is higher.

Technically speaking, SHIB will encounter resistance right away in the range of $0.0000130-$0.0000132, and then the 200-day moving average close to $0.0000139. Every upward attempt has been capped for weeks at these levels. Support for the downside is located just above $0.0000120. The next target might be $0.0000110 or even $0.0000100, a level that runs the risk of adding another zero to SHIB’s valuation if it significantly breaks below this.

Additionally, a classic indicator of deteriorating market structure, the descending trendline from the recent highs, is still forcing lower peaks. Bearish momentum will probably prevail unless SHIB can break out above that line with significant volume. That is, there is a genuine chance of oblivion.

In addition to possibly correcting further, SHIB runs the risk of becoming irrelevant for traders seeking stronger momentum plays if support gives way while volume keeps declining.

XRP’s last test

It appears that XRP is nearing a final stand at its current price. The token is currently trading at about $2.83, just above the 100-day EMA at $2.77, which serves as the crucial line of defense. If XRP is unable to maintain this zone, it may fall toward $2.50 and ultimately the psychological $2.00 level.

The symmetrical triangle pattern that had been supporting the price since mid-August is clearly broken in the chart. XRP was forced below the lower trendline by sellers, and although it has stabilized for the time being, momentum is still brittle. A clear close below $2.77 would validate the bearish trend.

You Might Also Like

The pattern in the volume adds to the uncertainty. The steady decline in trading volume is frequently an indication that sellers are worn out, and that bearish pressure is abating. However, low volume can also indicate fund outflows and disinterest, making XRP more susceptible to steeper drops when liquidity evaporates.

XRP has some breathing room for a recovery, as the RSI, which is currently hovering around 44 and reflecting neutral-to-weak momentum, does not yet exhibit any bullish divergence. Regaining $2.95-$3.00 is crucial for bulls. Strength would only be indicated by a persistent return above $3.00, which would pave the way for $3.10-$3.20.

XRP might still bounce back and reenter a consolidation range if support remains at the 100-day EMA. But if it fails, sentiment quickly shifts against it, making the path to $2.00 much more likely. This is a make-or-break situation for XRP investors for the time being.

Cardano’s patience

Cardano is putting its holders’ patience to the test once more. After weeks of losing momentum, the token is currently trading at a pivotal level, with bulls finding it difficult to maintain control. According to the short-term technical picture, the 100-day EMA and the crucial $0.80 support zone are both in the vicinity of ADA.

There is still hope for a recovery in ADA despite the negative undertones. The $0.80 area has previously shown itself to be resilient, serving as a base for several recoveries. Buyers can continue on their current trajectory toward $0.90 and $1.00 if they can defend this level once more.

You Might Also Like

A psychological shift would be signaled by a breakout above $1, which might draw momentum traders and investors who had been sidelined back into the market.

However, volume trends are not very promising. Everyday trading activity has decreased, indicating a general decline in enthusiasm. This makes ADA susceptible because, when markets turn risk-off, a lack of conviction can hasten downward pressure. However, these quiet periods frequently come before explosive moves, so the next sessions are very important.

The indecision is highlighted by the RSI, close to 48, which is in neutral territory and does not indicate oversold or overbought conditions. This implies that ADA has some leeway.

In general, the market is struggling, as there isn’t much of bearish support coming in and the majority of investors are bracing themselves for multiple breakdowns, especially if Bitcoin fails to deliver in the next few weeks.

Bitcoin (BTC): Be Ready to Lose $100,000, Ethereum (ETH): Bounce Hinges on $4,000, Shiba Inu (SHIB): Awaiting Explosion or Zero Again?

by admin September 3, 2025

Bitcoin, Ethereum and Shiba Inu are waiting for BTC to test critical support with the risk of losing $100,000, ETH is consolidating after its surge toward $4,000, and SHIB is coiling in a triangle pattern that could push volatility to new heights and price to the sky or a zero, if volume finally comes back. Prepare for decisive entries and exits as these setups reach their tipping points.

Bitcoin’s goodbye

Bitcoin is barely surviving, and the charts indicate that the $100,000 mark is in grave danger. BTC has been declining steadily since an unsuccessful attempt to recover highs above $120,000, losing an important moving average support in the process. The recovery from $108,000 to $110,000 has temporarily eased the situation, but there is still little momentum and a significant downward risk.

BTC/USDT Chart by TradingView

Technically speaking, Bitcoin remains below its 50-day moving average, indicating that the short-term bullish momentum has subsided. The market may break down into double-digit territory, and the 200-day EMA, which is currently at $104,000, is the last important line of defense.

Volume patterns highlight this setup’s vulnerability even more. Trading activity has declined in recent sessions, indicating that buyers are not acting decisively. With no obvious bullish divergence, the RSI is still muted and hovers close to oversold territory. This indicates that Bitcoin lacks the technical strength that typically supports a significant reversal.

You Might Also Like

Additionally, the larger market environment isn’t offering much assistance. The dominance of Bitcoin is still under threat, despite the fact that some altcoins have proven resilient. This suggests that money is moving less into Bitcoin in particular. Deeper corrections are made more likely by macro uncertainty and decreased liquidity.

As support levels wane, be prepared to lose $100,000. In the absence of Bitcoin recovering $114,000 and maintaining momentum above it, the path of least resistance indicates a decline. A drop below six figures would be a psychological blow to market sentiment as well as a technical failure, with the potential to bring down the entire cryptocurrency market.

Ethereum cools off

Following its spectacular surge to $5,000, Ethereum has cooled off and is currently consolidating at $4,300. Ethereum may be preparing for a comeback, according to the charts, even though the pullback has made some traders cautious — that is, if it can maintain a crucial level: $4,000.

The 20-day EMA is serving as the short-term buffer as ETH tests its short-term supports at the moment. The 50-day EMA near $4,050, which has historically functioned as a dependable pivot during retracements in robust uptrends, is the more important line to keep an eye on.

You Might Also Like

Compared to the buying craze in early August, volume has slowed, suggesting that the market is cooling. This does not necessarily mean that the market is bearish, because periods of lower volume frequently come before accumulation phases, which allows big buyers to get back in before the next leg higher.

Since the RSI is close to neutral, Ethereum has space to rise if buyers take back control. The critical $4,800-$5,000 resistance zone would be the next upside target if ETH holds $4,000 and buyers intervene at the 50 EMA. If that range were broken, it would be confirmed that the overall upward trend would continue.

Shiba’s volatility to surge

As the price action of Shiba Inu (SHIB) keeps compressing inside a symmetrical triangle pattern, the coin is about to enter a critical phase. SHIB, which is currently trading at $0.0000123, is getting close to the formation’s tip where volatility usually spikes and key moves take place. With this configuration, traders wonder if SHIB will soar higher or plummet to another zero.

Under strong resistance, SHIB has been consolidating for months, with the 200-day moving average at $0.0000140 serving as a ceiling. The token has not succeeded in making a breakthrough despite numerous attempts. The market is now building momentum for a breakout as the triangle gets smaller.

You Might Also Like

The following are the options from here:

  • SHIB may initiate a wave of short covering and rekindle buying interest if it breaks above the triangle’s upper boundary. A breakout above the 200-day SMA would confirm a reversal and possibly pave the way for a larger rally. Other important upside targets are $0.0000130, $0.0000140 and $0.0000150.

  • Selling pressure is likely to increase if $0.0000120 is broken, with an immediate decline toward $0.0000110. SHIB could add another zero if that level is lost, pushing the token into even more bearish territory. The tightening triangle should cause traders to anticipate increased volatility, even in the absence of a clear breakout. Both bulls and bears may be trapped by abrupt intraday swings until a distinct direction becomes apparent.

  • The mid-40s RSI indicates that SHIB is neither overbought nor oversold, allowing for potential movement in either direction. The market is still waiting for a trigger, as evidenced by the muted trading volumes in the interim.

To summarize everything: BTC remains playable only if it reclaims $114,000 or bounces at $104,000, with an exit on a close below $100,000. ETH offers opportunity at $4,000-$4,050 or on a breakout above $4,800, with risk cut under $3,950 and profits capped near $5,000. SHIB’s entry sits above the $0.0000130-$0.0000140 resistance, while failure of $0.0000120 is the exit cue. Across all three, momentum and volume confirmation are crucial, as each chart is positioned for a strong directional move rather than sideways drift.

AI agents are science fiction not yet ready for primetime

by admin September 1, 2025

This is The Stepback, a weekly newsletter breaking down one essential story from the tech world. For more on all things AI, follow Hayden Field. The Stepback arrives in our subscribers’ inboxes at 8AM ET. Opt in for The Stepback here.

It all started with J.A.R.V.I.S. Yes, that J.A.R.V.I.S. The one from the Marvel movies.

Well, maybe it didn’t start with Iron Man’s AI assistant, but the fictional system definitely helped the concept of an AI agent along. Whenever I’ve interviewed AI industry folks about agentic AI, they often point to J.A.R.V.I.S. as an example of the ideal AI tool in many ways — one that knows what you need done before you even ask, can analyze and find insights in large swaths of data, and can offer strategic advice or run point on certain aspects of your business. People sometimes disagree on the exact definition of an AI agent, but at its core, it’s a step beyond chatbots in that it’s a system that can perform multistep, complex tasks on your behalf without constantly needing back-and-forth communication with you. It essentially makes its own to-do list of subtasks it needs to complete in order to get to your preferred end goal. That fantasy is closer to being a reality in many ways, but when it comes to actual usefulness for the everyday user, there are a lot of things that don’t work — and maybe will never work.

The term “AI agent” has been around for a long time, but it especially started trending in the tech industry in 2023. That was the year of the concept of AI agents; the term was on everyone’s lips as people tried to suss out the idea and how to make it a reality, but you didn’t see many successful use cases. The next year, 2024, was the year of deployment — people were really putting the code out into the field and seeing what it could do. (The answer, at the time, was… not much. And filled with a bunch of error messages.)

I can pinpoint the hype around AI agents becoming widespread to one specific announcement: In February 2024, Klarna, a fintech company, said that after one month, its AI assistant (powered by OpenAI’s tech) had successfully done the work of 700 full-time customer service agents and automated two-thirds of the company’s customer service chats. For months, those statistics came up in almost every AI industry conversation I had.

The hype never died down, and in the following months, every Big Tech CEO seemed to harp on the term in every earnings call. Executives at Amazon, Meta, Google, Microsoft, and a whole host of other companies began to talk about their commitment to building useful and successful AI agents — and tried to put their money where their mouths are to make it happen.

The vision was that one day, an AI agent could do everything from book your travel to generate visuals for your business presentations. The ideal tool could even, say, find a good time and place to hang out with a bunch of your friends that works with all of your calendars, food preferences, and dietary restrictions — and then book the dinner reservation and create a calendar event for everyone.

Now let’s talk about the “AI coding” of it all: For years, AI coding has been carrying the agentic AI industry. If you asked anyone about real-life, successful, not-annoying use cases for AI agents happening right now and not conceptually in a not-too-distant future, they’d point to AI coding — and that was pretty much the only concrete thing they could point to. Many engineers use AI agents for coding, and they’re seen as objectively pretty good. Good enough, in fact, that at Microsoft and Google, up to 30 percent of the code is now being written by AI agents. And for startups like OpenAI and Anthropic, which burn through cash at high rates, one of their biggest revenue generators is AI coding tools for enterprise clients.

So until recently, AI coding has been the main real-life use case of AI agents, but obviously, that’s not pandering to the everyday consumer. The vision, remember, was always a jack-of-all-trades sort of AI agent for the “everyman.” And we’re not quite there yet — but in 2025, we’ve gotten closer than we’ve ever been before.

Last October, Anthropic kicked things off by introducing “Computer Use,” a tool that allowed Claude to use a computer like a human might — browsing, searching, accessing different platforms, and completing complex tasks on a user’s behalf. The general consensus was that the tool was a step forward for technology, but reviews said that in practice, it left a lot to be desired. Fast-forward to January 2025, and OpenAI released Operator, its version of the same thing, and billed it as a tool for filling out forms, ordering groceries, booking travel, and creating memes. Once again, in practice, many users agreed that the tool was buggy, slow, and not always efficient. But again, it was a significant step. The next month, OpenAI released Deep Research, an agentic AI tool that could compile long research reports on any topic for a user, and that spun things forward, too. Some people said the research reports were more impressive in length than content, but others were seriously impressed. And then in July, OpenAI combined Deep Research and Operator into one AI agent product: ChatGPT Agent. Was it better than most consumer-facing agentic AI tools that came before? Absolutely. Was it still tough to make work successfully in practice? Absolutely.

So there’s a long way to go to reach that vision of an ideal AI agent, but at the same time, we’re technically closer than we’ve ever been before. That’s why tech companies are putting more and more money into agentic AI, by way of investing in additional compute, research and development, or talent. Google recently hired Windsurf’s CEO, cofounder, and some R&D team members, specifically to help Google push its AI agent projects forward. And companies like Anthropic and OpenAI are racing each other up the ladder, rung by rung, to introduce incremental features to put these agents in the hands of consumers. (Anthropic, for instance, just announced a Chrome extension for Claude that allows it to work in your browser.)

So really, what happens next is that we’ll see AI coding continue to improve (and, unfortunately, potentially replace the jobs of many entry-level software engineers). We’ll also see the consumer-facing agent products improve, likely slowly but surely. And we’ll see agents used increasingly for enterprise and government applications, especially since Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI have all debuted government-specific AI platforms in recent months.

Overall, expect to see more false starts, starts and stops, and mergers and acquisitions as the AI agent competition picks up (and the hype bubble continues to balloon). One question we’ll all have to ask ourselves as the months go on: What do we actually want a conceptual “AI agent” to be able to do for us? Do we want them to replace just the logistics or also the more personal, human aspects of life (i.e., helping write a wedding toast or a note for a flower delivery)? And how good are they at helping with the logistics vs. the personal stuff? (Answer for that last one: not very good at the moment.)

  • Besides the astronomical environmental cost of AI — especially for large models, which are the ones powering AI agent efforts — there’s an elephant in the room. And that’s the idea that “smarter AI that can do anything for you” isn’t always good, especially when people want to use it to do… bad things. Things like creating chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) weapons. Top AI companies say they’re increasingly worried about the risks of that. (Of course, they’re not worried enough to stop building.)
  • Let’s talk about the regulation of it all. A lot of people have fears about the implications of AI, but many aren’t fully aware of the potential dangers posed by uber-helpful, aiming-to-please AI agents in the hands of bad actors, both stateside and abroad (think: “vibe-hacking,” romance scams, and more). AI companies say they’re ahead of the risk with the voluntary safeguards they’ve implemented. But many others say this may be a case for an external gut-check.

Is Shiba Inu (SHIB) Ready for Historic Breakout?

by admin August 31, 2025

Shiba Inu coin SHIB has been moving in a loop for the past few weeks, staying in the same support area that’s marked turning points more than once over the last year. The token is trading near $0.00001238, almost stuck at the $0.00001159 level that’s been a support point a few times, from last September to midsummer.

The chart shows a pattern of rounded consolidations, where the price settles into tight clusters before making a move. In previous cycles, these bases were followed by stretches of upside, first toward $0.00001698 and later pushing as far as the $0.00002052 resistance.

You Might Also Like

Each time, though, the move lost steam before SHIB’s price could challenge higher zones such as $0.00002501 or the longer-term cap near $0.00002970.

Source: TradingView

This repetition is what makes the current setup interesting. The token is once again boxed between that well-worn floor and a mid-range ceiling, and history shows this is usually where volatility starts to increase.

Game of swings

The range isn’t huge, but the transitions out of it have defined SHIB’s bigger swings. If the same playbook repeats, the next step could be a game-changer for the rest of the year.

If $0.00001159 breaks, though, it’ll mess with the story and put SHIB in some unfamiliar territory we haven’t seen since early 2023.

You Might Also Like

Right now, SHIB is more about structure than hype. The token is repeating an old pattern, and the next move out of this range will show whether it’s another rebound or a deeper reset.

Ethereum (ETH) Ready for $5,000 Drive, Shiba Inu (SHIB): Everything Next Week, XRP Crash to $2.50 Incoming?

by admin August 30, 2025

  • XRP’s critical breakdown
  • Shiba Inu anemic

After a severe correction, Ethereum recovered and is now firmly above the $4,300 support zone, demonstrating its resilience. The daily chart’s structure indicates that ETH may be poised for another surge toward the $5,000 milestone, suggesting that the recent pullback may have reached its end.

The 50-day EMA has been a dynamic support for ETH’s strong recovery over the last few weeks. The recent uptrend has seen shallow corrections that have been swiftly followed by fresh buying pressure. This kind of market behavior reflects strong investor confidence, a necessary ingredient for pushing ETH into uncharted territory.

ETH/USDT Chart by TradingView

The RSI at 59 indicates that there is space for a new rally, as ETH has cooled off from overbought conditions. In contrast to earlier this year, volume is still high, even though it has been decreasing during the correction phase.

In the upcoming sessions, ETH may retest recent highs around $4,800 and push above them toward $5,000 if volume increases. Nevertheless, Ethereum’s rallies are infamously erratic. Investors should keep in mind that even though the chart structure encourages continuation, parabolic advances frequently come to an abrupt end.

You Might Also Like

Deeper corrections could return to the 200-day EMA around $3,400 if the price fails to stay above $4,200. The path of least resistance is still up for the time being. With investor interest, momentum recovery and structural support, ETH is well-positioned to try another breakout.

The $5,000 drive might happen sooner rather than later if momentum is in favor of it, but traders need to be on the lookout because Ethereum rallies have a history of reversing as fast as they start.

XRP’s critical breakdown

Now hovering just below the crucial $3.00 level, XRP is getting closer to a definitive breakdown. Instead of providing bullish potential, the symmetrical triangle pattern that has been tightening over the past few weeks appears poised to tilt toward the downside, according to the charts.

As of press time, XRP is trading close to $2.82 and has already started to decline below short-term support. By confirming the formation’s increasing weakness, this price action raises the possibility that the market is getting ready to continue its downward trend.

You Might Also Like

While the triangle’s breakdown is a bearish signal in and of itself, it becomes even more dire when combined with declining volume. If this happens, XRP may quickly decline toward its 200-day EMA, which is located around $2.50. This level serves as both technical support and the next psychological safety net for investors.

If this were to drop, selling pressure would probably increase, and XRP would likely see more significant corrections. There are no indications of reversal divergence, and the RSI at 42 indicates bearish momentum. This implies that buyers are merely unwilling to intervene at the current levels, especially when combined with the declining market participation.

XRP is probably going to continue to face pressure unless a powerful catalyst appears, like an abrupt market-wide recovery.

In summary, the symmetrical triangle of XRP has successfully moved from a consolidation zone to a breakdown structure, and investors should brace themselves for a decline toward $2.50 unless $3 can be recovered quickly. Given the market’s fragility, XRP might not have much left to hold onto before more declines occur.

Shiba Inu anemic

The price of Shiba Inu, which is currently trading at around $0.0000122, is still consolidating inside a tightening symmetrical triangle. The lack of momentum leading into the weekend is what makes the current setup so important, even though the pattern has been developing for a few weeks.

The daily trading volume has stagnated, and SHIB has historically had little-to-no liquidity on weekends. This implies that once more market activity resumes next week, the true direction will probably become apparent.

It is evident from the technical picture that SHIB is being squeezed between the lower edge of its triangle support and the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day EMAs’ strong overhead resistance. An explosive breakout is anticipated in the future if price coils more inside this structure without volume.

Because SHIB has continuously failed to reclaim higher resistance zones throughout August, the overall trend remains bearish, which presents a challenge for bulls. With neither bulls nor bears fully in control, the RSI at 44 indicates weak momentum.

However, SHIB might swiftly decline toward $0.0000110-0.0000100, a region that offered stability earlier this year, if the lower triangle support gives way. On the other hand, any significant recovery would require a bullish breakout above $0.0000135-0.0000140, but this move appears unlikely in the near future without volume.

Shiba Inu investors are unlikely to find answers this weekend. When volume resumes the following week, the market will decide whether SHIB can withstand another round of selling pressure or not. This is when the real test starts. The next course of action will probably decide SHIB’s short-term future since the triangle is getting close to its apex.

More about Yooka-Replaylee

Yooka-Replaylee

is the definitive remade and enhanced version of the 3D indie platforming collectathon darling, Yooka-Laylee, developed by key creative talent behind the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country games. New remixed challenges and old favorites await as you embark to explore the huge, beautiful open worlds as the lovable buddy duo Yooka and Laylee once more, all while backed by a beautiful orchestral soundtrack. Did we mention there’s an even more expandable map now? A shiny new currency? And tons of customization options? The favorite buddy duo has never moved, looked, or sounded better!

Key Features:

Refined Story: The events of the first game are relived and retold by the main characters, Yooka and Laylee. New sequences and plot points have been added throughout the adventure at key milestones, too.

Upgraded Graphics: With an art and animations overhaul and enhanced performance and resolution, the favorite buddy duo has never looked or moved better.

Brand New ‘Rextro’s Arcade’: The old minigames are no more! Instead you’ll jump into the feet of Rextro the dinosaur and undertake brand-new isometric platforming challenges for collectible rewards.

New Collectible Currency: Capital B’s inept minions have dropped their hard-earned coins all over the place. Collect the official currency of the Hivory Towers to spend on video games’ most beloved sentient vending machine.

Build Your Own Playstyle: Tonics are back with all new flavors! With the option to equip multiple game-changing enhancements, you can truly customize your playstyle. And as if that wasn’t enough, Vendi has new lines of merchandise for the modern fashionable adventurer.

Navigate the World Easily: Yooka-Replaylee introduces a brand-new map and collectibles tracker, making it easier for you to traverse the environments, track NPC and Pagie locations, along with tracking their progress. We’re also introducing a new character, (book)Mark, who acts as your warp point and guide.

Revamped Controls and Camera: The buddy-duo now has access to their entire move set from the start of the game and can sequence the moves together a lot smoother than in the original game. This, combined with the revamped camera controls, makes Yooka-Replaylee feel like a more modern, snappier experience, while also directly addressing player feedback on the original game.

Dreamy Orchestral Soundtrack: The original score from famed video game composers Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie) and David Wise (Donkey Kong Country) returns, but as a beautifully arranged orchestral score. Now, seriously, clean out those ears!

Matter Is Finally Ready to Deliver the Smart Home It Promised

by admin August 26, 2025

“We’re doing some outdoor products, and now we use Wi-Fi,” he explained. “But in an ideal world, these should be Thread products, because it has much better range, and also it’s low power.”

Chu hasn’t given up on Thread, though, and said testing version 1.4 is going well. The latest version has made it simpler for devices to work in a unified, brand-agnostic, mesh network, regardless of the software or hardware ecosystem being used. It has also streamlined cloud access and simplified device setup, ultimately helping to make Matter more robust, scalable, and user-friendly.

“I think that Matter and Thread has had a lot of negativity in the past few years, but it’s time for the consumers to give it another try,” says Chu. “It’s gotten much better. A lot of people in the industry have been working very, very hard to get it to the point that it’s at today.”

It’s an area of improvement that Richardson is also keen to highlight. “Thread is an important, foundational technology of Matter,” he said. “We are closely aligned with the Thread Group and continue to look for ways to improve the Thread experience within Matter and the use cases that it enables.”

Growing Pains

Thread took most of the early heat when Matter started stumbling, but it wasn’t the only problem. Dev headaches, slow rollout, and a lack of compatible devices have all played a part.

For an emerging standard, this is not unusual. But when the likes of Google, Apple, Amazon, and Samsung team up, it becomes a much bigger story.

“We started this with a lot of fanfare, and usually standards don’t. They sort of start off in a corner, with maybe a couple of super nerdy articles about it, and then, two years later, something shows up when companies start rolling it out.”

That’s the take of Daniel Moneta, chair of the Matter Marketing and Product Subgroup at the CSA. Moneta has also spent the past few years working with Samsung SmartThings in a product and marketing role, giving him plenty of irons in the Matter fire.

“I do think there were a lot of expectations, that maybe we set, but maybe people just had, in terms of things like how quickly it was going to be done, how fast products were going to come out, which problems Matter was going to solve and which ones it wasn’t,” he said.

Moneta believes many criticisms of Matter stem from its tech-fluent early adopters already being obsessive about the details. Speaking as a self-titled “nerdy enthusiast,” he understands.

“We’re very interested in the technical nuance … in looking at things like compatibility matrices. The smart home has historically been for that enthusiast in the home and, almost by definition, a group of people who have greater expectations, want more flexibility, and also maybe want it to do things beyond necessarily what it was built for.

“I’m not saying Matter wasn’t made for that audience, because I think it’s fantastic for that audience,” he continues. “But Matter was also designed for the Ikea buyer or the Samsung TV buyer. The one that goes, ‘I have a Matter hub in this TV I just bought. Maybe I should buy some light bulbs.’”
