USDC Issuer Circle Spikes After Wall Street Firm Initiates With Buy Rating

by admin June 21, 2025

In brief

  • Circle (CRCL) surged 14% to $228 after Seaport Global initiated coverage with a buy rating and $235 price target, calling it a “top-tier crypto disruptor.”
  • The rally was fueled by the Senate’s passage of the GENIUS Act stablecoin legislation, which would create the first federal framework for dollar-pegged stablecoins.
  • Circle and Coinbase both benefited from the regulatory momentum due to their revenue-sharing agreement on $61.2 billion in USDC cash reserves, while Robinhood declined 1.65%.

USDC issuer Circle was buoyant in pre-market trading Friday, climbing above $236 ahead of the opening bell. That put it ahead of the $235 price target set by Wall Street research firm Seaport Global, which initiated coverage of the company today with a buy rating.

But once the bell rang, the company’s stock, which trades on the NYSE under the CRCL ticker, settled and is currently changing hands around $228, or 14% higher than its previous close.

Seaport announced that it was initiating coverage of Circle on Friday, before markets opened. The firm’s analyst Jeff Cantwell called the stablecoin issuer “top-tier crypto ’disruptor’,” and said he thinks the $260 billion stablecoin market will balloon to $2 trillion.

In the analysis, which Cantwell shared with Decrypt, Cantwell wrote that USDC was always meant to be disruptive. ““Early on, Circle’s founders envisioned the development of an ‘HTTP for Money’, to make money more frictionless in order to help raise global economic prosperity,” he said.

Cantwell also predicted that investors will see Circle’s annual revenue grow up to 30%, with gross margins around 40%, as it continues to scale.

And although interest rates are working in Circle’s favor now, he said the company’s strength could also be its biggest risk. “Nearly all of Circle’s revenue still comes from interest earned on reserve assets — 99% in both 2023 and 2024,” he wrote. “This is both a strength and a risk if interest rates fall.”

Both Circle and crypto exchange Coinbase have captured a lot of investor attention since the Senate voted in favor of key stablecoin legislation, the GENIUS Act, on Tuesday afternoon. That’s because the two companies have an agreement that sees them splitting the interest earned on the $61.2 billion worth of cash reserves backing the company’s stablecoin tokens.

The GENIUS Act, if signed into law, would represent the first comprehensive federal framework for U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoins.

Coinbase, which trades on the Nasdaq under the COIN ticker, started Friday 3% above its Wednesday close. (Remember: Markets were closed in the U.S. on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.)

But trading platform Robinhood—which is less exclusively tied to crypto assets and doesn’t have links to a stablecoin—got off to a bumpy start on Friday morning. The company, which trades on the Nasdaq under the HOOD ticker, is trading for $76.76, or 2% lower than it was on Wednesday afternoon.

HOOD on Wednesday hit a 52-week high of $77.83, surpassing the $61 price target set for it by Deutsche Bank and $69 set by Cantor Fitzgerald earlier this year.

But it has a ways to go before it closes in on the $90 price target of Summit Redstone Partners’ Michael Cyprys.

Just last week, Robinhood reported that total platform assets grew to $225 billion in May, up 10% from April and a staggering 89% hike compared to the same time last year.

MindsEye hotfix promised for the end of this week as Steam rating sinks back down to ‘mostly negative’

by admin June 12, 2025

After an ugly launch that saw its Steam rating crater to “mostly negative,” briefly climb to “mixed,” and then biff it back to “mostly negative,” MindsEye developer Build a Rocket Boy says it’s working “around the clock” on performance improvements, and that the first in a series of planned patches is slated to arrive on PC at the end of this week.

The team acknowledged on launch day that the game’s minimum system requirements “are very high” and said on Reddit that developers are “working around the clock to improve performance on mainstream hardware as well as consoles.” In a subsequent update on Steam, Build a Rocket Boy went into more detail about what it has in the works.

“Right now, our top priority is game performance,” the studio wrote. “We understand that the requirements are high and have limited the experience for many of you, and for this, we sincerely apologize.

“Improving performance across all devices is our immediate focus. A patch that begins our commitment to address this is scheduled for the end of this week on PC, which will also roll out to consoles as soon as possible.”

The first hotfix will include:

  • Initial CPU and GPU performance improvements, along with memory optimizations
  • Reduced difficulty for the CPR minigame
  • A new setting to disable or modify depth of field
  • A fix for an issue with missing controls for the MineHunter and Run Dungeon minigames
  • Pop-up warnings for PCs that have Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling disabled, and PCs with CPUs that have potential crash issues

Build a Rocket Boy also said the content creation platform Build.MindsEye is now fully accessible, and it’s also working to resolve problems with missing DLC, which will be added to owners’ accounts as soon as possible.

The release of MindsEye has indeed been a mess, to the extent that Build a Rocket Boy seemingly cancelled a sponsored stream with CohhCarnage, literally as the stream was starting—”first time that’s happened,” the streamer said.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

The real trouble facing Build a Rocket Boy is that while the technical issues are very real, MindsEye’s bigger problem is simply that it’s not very good. We don’t have a review but PC Gamer’s Tyler Wilde has played the first two hours—and his impression was that “the Steam collective had it right back when the reviews were ‘mostly negative’.”

It’s impossible to properly review a game after just a couple hours of gameplay, but this does not look good:

Ironically, MindsEye ran pretty well for Tyler, despite his aged RTX 2070 Super GPU: “I was a bit worried that my stubborn refusal to upgrade would finally defeat me, because early negative Steam reviews often come from players who have technical problems, but it’s stable for me, if frequently ugly on the settings I’m using. It’s gone all slideshowy a couple times, but only in narrative moments where it didn’t screw me up. The faces look nice, at least.”

Build a Rocket Boy encouraged players to continue sharing feedback through “support channels, Discord, Reddit, and through direct messages on social media,” and promised that it reads them all—”even the tough ones.”

Infinity Nikki is getting a big update this week, but will that be enough to turn its Steam review rating around?

by admin June 11, 2025

Infinity Nikki, the visually impressive, open-world dress-up game that came out late last year, continues to grow with new updates. The game’s latest, arriving this Friday, June 13, is one of its biggest, kicking off a new seasonal chapter.

The Playful Season transforms the in-game city, and introduces some new story content, new outfits, new puzzles, minigames, and more.

The Playful Season (Version 1.6) sees Infinity Nikki’s protagonists, Nikki and Momo, turned into fairies after encountering a cursed fairy apprentice in need of help. To lift the spell, the pair set off on a quest to explore a storybook-like realm with new challenges.

At the core of this update are three new interactive attractions. There’s a photographable sky path where everyone can float in the air, and a pumpkin-shaped ride that’s made up of elevated, winding tracks. Then there’s the rotund chicken trampoline, which makes different sounds depending on where you bounce on it.

This update will require players to use their heads, too, because there’s a series of seven maze challenges to solve. Your goal in each one is the same: find the petrified animals hidden within to reveal the path forward.

You’ll find five new ability outfits in the Playful Season, too. Enchanted Encounter is a five-star outfit that causes nearby animals to float. There are two four-star outfits here as well: the Comic-Style Prince Outfit, and Cloud-Summoning Outfit. Finally, two more limited-time outfits will make a return from previous seasons, one five-star and the other four.

As far as new decoration items, you’ll find a new rocking horse Nikki can sit on, as well as a potion cauldron that releases plumes of smoke depending on the ingredients you toss into it. While all of that sounds good, it remains to be seen whether it’s going to be enough for players. The game currently sits at a Mostly Negative overall Steam review rating, so there’s clearly a lot that needs to be addressed.

Catch up on Infinity Nikki’s latest batch of codes in our guide, and refresh your memory on where to find all crafting materials in the game at the link.

Ghost of Yotei’s age rating confirms return of iconic hot springs feature

by admin June 9, 2025

Ghost of Yotei will see the return of hot springs, and a ratings board has confirmed that “exposed buttocks” will be back on the menu.

The first game, Ghost of Tsushima, famously featured natural baths, where protagonist Jin Sakai could take a much-needed break.

Soaking in the spring increases Jin’s maximum health and allows the grizzled swordsman to reflect upon his past. More importantly, it also gave thirsty players the chance to bear witness to Jin’s bare bottom.

So, when Ghost of Yotei was revealed on September 24, 2024, many fans wondered whether hot springs would return – and so they shall.

Ghost of Yotei hot springs will feature partial nudity

According to the official ESRB website, Ghost of Yotei has been rated M for Mature 17+ audiences, and it’s not just for the bloody decapitation of enemy soldiers. The description notes:

“During the course of the game, a female character’s exposed buttocks is depicted in a hot spring.” While the rating doesn’t mention who this female character is, it’s safe to assume that it’s Atsu, Ghost of Yotei’s protagonist.

So, for nature lovers hoping to get a glimpse of a full moon, it seems you’ll be in for a real treat. Of course, we imagine most armchair samurai will only be going to the hot spring for the in-game health benefits and not to just oggle at Atsu’s behind.
