Rainbow 6 Siege X: How To Enable Crossplay

Rainbow Six Siege X is a free-to-play shooter that is still going strong after over a decade of updates, and it’s not showing any signs of slowing down. Now that it’s free to play, it’s only more popular than ever in the realm of tactical shooters, bringing in all-new players to see who can stand the heat.

If you’re curious about Rainbow Six Siege X but want to know whether you’ll be able to play with friends or share your progression across multiple platforms, I can help you figure it all out below. Take a walk with me.

If you’re looking to team up with some chums who like to play on a different platform that you, I’ve got some great news: Rainbow Six Siege X has full crossplay support. Regardless of where you and your friends play, you can rest assured that you’ll be able to link up with one another.

This setting is turned off by default on consoles, however. If you’re on PlayStation or Xbox and would like to hook up with your friends who play on PC, you’ll need to head into your settings and enable crossplay matchmaking. For PC players, this setting is already toggled on, so you won’t need to do anything extra to play with console players.

Does Rainbow Six Siege X support cross-progression?

Let’s get this out of the way: Yes, Rainbow Six Siege X offers cross-progression. However, there’s a lot to know about how it functions, which you can read through on the official website.

The biggest takeaway from it, though, is that platforms you link via your Ubisoft Account will be combined and updated to reflect the highest tier of any progress you’ve made across them all. In other words, if you’ve reached Clearance Level 10 on one platform and Clearance Level 25 on another, you’ll automatically be Clearance Level 25 across all platforms once you link them together.

So, yeah, you can play with your friends and carry your progress over in Rainbow Six Siege X. If you’re ready to dive in, this strategic shooter is free to play on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PCs.

Bitcoin ‘Rainbow Chart’ Signals Buying Opportunity, But Weak Demand Raises Concerns

According to a recent post on X by crypto analyst Crypto Rover, the Bitcoin (BTC) Rainbow Chart is flashing a buy signal, suggesting that the leading cryptocurrency may be on the cusp of a significant upward move. However, weak market demand could pose a risk to this bullish momentum.

Bitcoin Rainbow Chart Flashes Buy Signal

After hitting a new all-time high (ATH) on May 22, BTC has spent nearly a month consolidating between the $100,000 and $110,000 range, without showing a clear directional bias. Now, one of the most well-known indicators – the Bitcoin Rainbow Chart – is pointing toward potential upside for the top digital asset.

Crypto Rover shared the following chart, showing BTC currently trading in the light green, or “buy”, zone of the Rainbow pattern. Historically, Bitcoin has often entered this zone shortly after each four-year halving, signalling potential growth ahead.

For the uninitiated, the Bitcoin Rainbow Chart is a long-term valuation tool that uses a logarithmic growth curve with color bands to show where Bitcoin’s price stands relative to historical trends. Each color band suggests a different market sentiment, helping investors identify potential overvaluation or undervaluation zones.

While the Rainbow Chart’s buy signal is promising, the broader demand for BTC appears lackluster. In a recent CryptoQuant Quicktake post, contributor Darkfost pointed out that sluggish demand is limiting Bitcoin’s ability to break out.

Darkfost shared the following chart, which compares new BTC supply to coins held inactive for over a year – used to gauge apparent demand. When the ratio moves above zero, it typically indicates strong market demand.

Since the last local top in May, this apparent demand metric has been gradually declining, though it remains sufficient to absorb current selling pressure. In essence, while BTC is managing to stay above the $100,000 level, demand is fading – a potential headwind.

However, some encouraging signs remain. In a separate X post, crypto trader Merlijn The Trader noted that the buy/sell pressure delta is showing an oversold signal, implying that short-term sellers could be nearing exhaustion.

BTC Wyckoff Accumulation Nearing End?

Crypto market commentator Ted Pillows added that BTC may be in the final stage of the Wyckoff Accumulation pattern. According to Ted, a decisive breakout above $110,000 could send Bitcoin surging to $130,000 “in no time.”

Overall, Bitcoin continues to demonstrate a healthy technical structure, maintaining support at the $104,000 level. The market also saw notable deleveraging following yesterday’s US Federal Reserve meeting.

That said, Bitcoin exchange activity is starting to show signs of fatigue, while retail investors continue to stay on the sidelines. At press time, BTC trades at $104,128, up 0.2% in the past 24 hours.

Rainbow Six Siege is more popular and better than ever. That’s one point for ‘make something actually unique and stick with it,’ zero points for ‘give up and lay everyone off’

Rainbow Six Siege is having a moment. The tactical FPS is one week into a major update that introduced a new name (Siege X), a wild 6v6 mode, modernized maps, and most consequential of all, a new price point: After holding out for 10 years, Siege is finally free-to-play.

Siege X is now more popular than ever, sustaining the kind of top-five Steam numbers that it used to only reach during free weekends. That boggles my mind, because to me, Siege has always felt like a game that’s just a handful of disasters away from collapse.

When I burnt out in 2020, those disasters were around every corner: forgettable operators, terrible battle passes, unpopular balance choices, and disruptive bugs introduced faster than Ubi could fix them. I can think of no other game that, even in its darkest moments, was forced to repeatedly disable entire characters because of game-breaking exploits. I remember players wondering at the time if Valorant, with its Siege-inspired abilities, would deal a fatal blow.

But Siege persisted. It’s a testament to its uniqueness that folks stuck around—Siege’s secret sauce is that there is no “other” Siege to match its combination of competitive lethality, operator counterplay, and granular destruction. I believe that uniqueness can also explain some of its big missteps over the years.

When I think about how different Siege was back in 2016, and how differently we played it, it’s clear to me that Ubisoft and the community were figuring out what this game was together. Ubisoft’s funky premise of asymmetrical teams of attackers with grapple hooks and defenders who aren’t supposed to go outside spawned a dictionary’s worth of techniques that only exist in Siege: runouts, vertical play, murder holes, rotation holes, bandit tricking, hard breaching, soft breaching, intel denial, droning.

It took time, experience, multiple leadership regimes, and a lot of mistakes for Siege to become the best (so far) version of itself. The big vibe shift came a few years ago, when Ubi officially slowed down on new maps and operators and instead focused on reworking existing systems, an initiative that has resulted in my favorite changes to Siege since launch, like attacker repick, attachments 2.0, operator reworks, a shooting range, match replay, and the secondary hard breach gadget.

Siege X is the culmination of Ubisoft slowly learning how to care for Siege. It’s a mature update, targeting fundamental features and improvements that have been a long time coming:

  • Rebuilt audio: Sound now travels realistically down hallways and through walls with believable reverb. It sounds better, but it’s also more accurate and consistent.
  • Modernized maps: Five popular maps got a graphical pass with new 4K assets, moody new lighting, and “destructible ingredients” that change how they’re played. Gas pipes can explode to kill players or deny areas. Fire extinguishers create smoke clouds.
  • Communication wheel: Better late than never, Siege finally has Apex-style contextual pings, so I can now point at a wall and ask teammates to reinforce it, or ping a hallway and declare it “all clear.”
  • Clash rework: The latest of a series of reworks that are so substantial that this is basically a new operator. Clash can now place her shield on the ground, creating a piece of cover for herself that also slows enemies with a shock.
  • Advanced rappel: Now you “sprint” on a wall and steer around corners while rappelling, a small movement change that saves so much time.
  • Pick & Ban 2.0: Instead of banning four operators at the start of the match, teams now ban one each round, speeding things along and encouraging teams to ban reactively based on the previous round. So, so much better.
  • Enemy outlines: Long ago, Siege made all its maps bright and flat-looking so players couldn’t hide in dark corners. Now that the good lighting is back, enemies now have the slightest red outline so they stand out in darkness. Sounds blasphemous for Siege, but it’s inoffensive so far.
  • First-person shadows: See your shadow? So can the enemy team!

There was a time when I would read a list of changes like that and think, “OK, but where are the two new operators and one new map that we used to get every three months?” But now I’m a bit older, busier, and aware that Siege has more than enough stuff. Maybe 73 operators’ worth of gadget interactions is as much as my brain can hold, and 27 multi-story complexes is more map than I’ll ever hope to master.

I like to think we’re entering Siege’s best years—seasoned gunplay, strong maps, impactful operators, less obtrusive (but still present) bugs, and a confidence in its identity so strong that it can take major swings like a 6v6 mode.

Rematch June 16 update patch notes bring Rainbow Flick buff & fix netcode issues

Rematch has officially arrived in early access, and it comes with an update to address some of the issues raised during the beta, including buffing the rainbow flick and fixing some netcode problems.

Whether you’re a fan of football, Rocket League, or both, chances are you’ve had your eye on Rematch, the new competitive 5v5 game from the team behind Sifu. Throughout its multiple betas, it’s received plenty of buzz, including from fans of EA SPORTS FC who are looking for something a little different.

But while these betas did a great job of getting players on board, they also highlighted some issues with the moment-to-moment gameplay. Now, as it launches in early access, an update has arrived to address some of these problems.

Rainbow Flick

In response to the feedback gathered during the second beta, we reverted some modifications we made on the rainbow flick. The first interaction with the ball using the volley variation of the rainbow flick should be as fast and fluid as experienced in the first beta while some balancing changes still apply to chained flicks to avoid keeping the ball out of play for too long.

Mouse and keyboard tap

We corrected a lot of bugs and improved the overall feeling of the new tap aiming system on mouse and keyboard. Now it should be easier to aim 360 degrees around the character, without the aiming being “sticky” in some directions or going in the opposite direction from where you wanted to aim. 

While using the new system, please remember that it requires you to consider the mouse as a joystick, so moving your mouse diagonally and not only horizontally will help you nail every angle. We are still closely monitoring this new system, and already have plans to keep improving it in the next updates.

Mouse and keyboard remapping

Remapping is now available for mouse and keyboard! You can remap inputs the way you want, and even choose to use or not the “modifier” option which rebinds lobbed actions on 2 inputs (modifier + tap, or pushball) instead of one.

​You might encounter some bugs while using the remapping feature, but we’ll try to fix them as quickly as possible. 

Controller remapping is also coming later this season, as well as more advanced remapping options.

  • Fixed an issue where players could stay stuck in Defense Mode
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to cancel the kickoff animation and control the ball after a goal replay
  • Fixed an issue where some passes and interceptions were not counted in the scoring system
  • Fixed an issue that made the player invisible after a goal replay
  • Fixed an issue where the ball would lose all momentum after two players performed a tackle on it at the same time
  • Fixed an issue that made volley tap unavailable after the ball was volley shot with extra effort

​Netcode and Desync

  • Fixed multiple issues where ball would pass through the goalkeeper’s dive, despite the catch animation being played
  • Fixed an issue where the ball’s position would take a long time to be synchronized again for all players
  • Fixed a ball desync present upon hitting the goalpost bars
  • Fixed a ball desync present upon performing a volley action after a wall bounce
  • Fixed an issue where the second shot deflected by a player’s defense mode would create replication and desync issues

Mouse & Keyboard

  • Fixed an issue where Inputs were not displaying correctly in menus when using mouse and keyboard
  • Fixed an issue where the magnus resets to 0 when not continuously moving the mouse in the same direction

Tutorials

  • Fixed an issue where AI does not pass the ball after ball call during movement tutorial

​Menus

  • Fixed multiple bugs that could cause the game to lose focus
  • Missing functionality for Menu music volume slider
  • Missing functionality for rematch after finishing a custom match
  • Fixed an issue with the player’s rank being displayed incorrectly in the profile page and main menu
  • Fixed an issue with the player’s level being displayed incorrectly at the end of a match
  • Fixed multiple instances of texts not being correctly localized or translated across all menus and tutorials
  • Fixed an issue that made the option to report players unavailable
  • Fixed an issue that made all sound feedback in menus stop working
  • Fixed inconsistent texts in controller gameplay settings

Crashes

  • Fixed a crash happening when launching the game without steam
  • Multiple other crash instances fixed

Visual and cosmetic issues

  • Fixed issues where some of the heads selectable in customization were corrupted at low or medium graphic settings
  • Headgear color from the customization isn’t the same one in match

Matchmaking and Online experience

  • Fixed multiple errors that could interrupt matchmaking
  • Fixed multiple issues with voice chat on Xbox platform

When does Rainbow Six Siege X Year 10 Season 2 start?

Ubisoft has confirmed the arrival of Rainbow Six Siege X in a grand style with a bunch of improvements over the base game with Year 10 Season Two. But when does the new season start? Here’s everything you need to know.

Rainbow Six Siege X Year 10 Season 2 release date

Rainbow Six Siege X Year 10 Season Two will commence on June 10, 2025. At the time of writing, you can get an early access via the test servers that will run from May 20 at 8am CT / 3pm CEST to June 9 at 8am PT / 3pm CEST. The test session will only be available to PC players who already own a copy of
Rainbow Six Siege.

Operation Daybreak will be the name of this season, and the biggest highlights include a new 6v6 game mode, modernized maps, and most importantly, a rework for the Defender Operator, Clash.

Will Operation Daybreak and Rainbow Six Siege X launch on the same day?

Yes, Operation Daybreak and Rainbow Six Siege X will launch on the same day, which is June 10.

The update will go live on all the platforms (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC), and the title will be free-to-play.

Some Rainbow Six Siege X Year 10 Season 2 highlights

Here are some of the key highlights from Rainbow Six Siege X Year 10 Season 2:

  • Electricity will no longer damage any Operator. It will slow them down and destroy gadgets.
  • Limb damage will be reduced.
  • Shield Operators can no longer ADS while vaulting or dropping from higher levels.
  • Blackbeard’s shield glass has been tinted to make it easier to see if it’s up or down.
  • Jackal will only ping an enemy position one time after scanning footprints, and the footprints will disappear immediately after being scanned. He will also be able to use it five times instead of three.
  • Jager’s Active Defense System can eliminate Capitão’s bolts and Gridlock’s Trax Stingers.
  • Thunderbird will no longer heal enemies from her Kona Stations.
  • Sledge will be able to knock down shield users.
