Beat Saber support is ending on PS4 and PS5

by admin June 19, 2025

VR rhythm action game Beat Saber will no longer be updated for PlayStation 4 and 5 users from this month onwards, with multiplayer being discontinued on both platforms.

Developer Beat Games, which has been owned by Meta since 2019, shared the update on social media. “As we look to the future and plan the next big leap for Beat Saber, we have made the decision to no longer release updates for PS4 and PS5 starting in June 2025.

“Our passion for VR remains unwavering. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and what we can bring to Beat Saber fans who have been on this journey with us over the past 7 years.”

The game and existing DLC packs will still be available to purchase on PS4 and PS5. Any content released after June 18, 2025 will not be released on PlayStation platforms, however.

Beat Saber’s paid content updates – which comprise new playable tracks for the game – have recently included songs from artists like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.

The game is a fixture in the best-selling games for PS VR 2, with Beat Saber being the third best-selling game for the platform in the US and Canada for the month of May 2025, and the sixth best-selling game in the EU region for the same time period.

The update ends by reiterating that the developer is “excited to share what the future holds for Beat Saber”.

Support for the game continues on Steam and Meta Quest headsets.

Over 4 Years Later, PS5 Has More Monthly Users Than PS4

by admin June 16, 2025

For the first time, more people are using a PS5 console than a PS4, according to Sony. In a new look at the business of PlayStation, Sony noted that PS5 had more monthly active users when compared to PS4, with the combined playerbase now at 124 million users, as of March 31.

Sony said that it had 49 million monthly users each on PS5 and PS4, as of April 30, 2024. While it hasn’t provided exact figures on just how many people are now on PS5 compared to PS4, the accompanying slide does suggest that there has been a significant change here. Spending has also increased, with Sony noting that people were spending more on peripherals, services, and content.

Sony’s graph slide showing the MAU split between PS5 and PS4.

It took over four years for the PS5 to surpass the PS4 in this category, but there are several reasons for this. The PS5 suffered from stock shortages when it first launched, and most games were available on both PlayStation platforms. This included several big sports titles and other AAA releases, which are generally considered to be some of the big drivers behind adopting new console hardware.

As the current console generation has continued, more games launching only for current-gen hardware and console exclusives, alongside various entry points for the PS5, have helped make it a more appealing purchase.

Looking ahead, Sony also commented on its next-gen gaming console during its business presentation. The company isn’t prepared to shift entirely to cloud gaming yet, as it says the majority of its users prefer “local execution” of games. Sony also commented on its live-service plans, saying that the company is feeling optimistic about Bungie’s Marathon ahead of its September launch, and that it doesn’t predict it to be another Concord.

Every PS4 Game Announced During Summer Game Fest 2025

by admin June 9, 2025

The PlayStation 4 was released nearly 13 years ago. In the world of video games, it is a dinosaur. And yet, in 2025, during Summer Game Fest’s many shows and directs, new PS4 games were being announced alongside PS5 and Switch 2 games. Turns out this old machine still has some life left in it, though that might be a horrible sign for the video game industry.

This Cool New Retro Console Is A Great Gift For Atari Fans

While watching Summer Game Fest 2025, and begging for the rancid event to end, I spotted something odd. A newly revealed LEGO co-op puzzle game was going to get a PS4 port. Then, another LEGO game in the same showcase was confirmed to be getting a PS4 launch as well. By the end of Geoff Keighley’s Not-E3 event, three new PS4 games had been announced. Weird.

So, I watched closely during the Xbox event on Sunday to see if this trend continued. And I spotted two more games that were announced that day and were headed to PS4. Yes, during the big Xbox showcase, two games were revealed that are also coming to PS4. One of them you might have heard of: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One, yet it isn’t confirmed to be launching on Switch 2 later this year.

After the dust had settled, I skimmed through all the showcases and events over the last few days and found at least 11 upcoming video games that appeared during Summer Game Fest and are also arriving on PS4.

Here’s that list, with brand-new games marked with an asterisk:

  • Sonic Racing Cross Worlds
  • *LEGO Voyagers
  • *LEGO Party
  • Marvel Cosmic Invasion
  • Mouse PI For Hire
  • *Scott Pilgrim EX
  • *Planet of Lana 2
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4
  • *Call of Duty Black Ops 7
  • Monument Valley 3
  • Dying Light: The Beast (after the launch of the PS5/XSX versions)

It’s very likely that I missed a few PS4 games that appeared in some of the many events that happened over the entirety of Summer Game Fest last week. Still, 11 games landing on a nearly 13-year-old console is strange. That would be like Activision putting out a PS2 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts alongside the launch of the PS4 in 2013. Or EA putting out a video game on PS1 and PS3 in 2006.

The reason PS4 games are still being made in 2025

So, what’s going on? Well, part of the reason we are seeing games still launching on PS4 is that video games aren’t visually evolving as rapidly and hugely as they once did. The difference between a PS4 and PS5 game is nowhere near as notable as previous generational leaps, meaning a lot of games, especially smaller projects and indie titles, can run perfectly fine on the older machines.

And a lot of people are still, five years after the launch of PS5, gaming on the older Sony home console. That’s why EA spent money to backport Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to PS4 and Xbox One after it launched as a “next-gen” exclusive. If people are still buying new games on PS4 (and Xbox One), and porting stuff to these older machines isn’t that much more work, then why not release a new LEGO game on the older devices?

To be clear, I don’t think it’s a bad thing that publishers are supporting older hardware for this long. Video games are expensive. And due to tariffs and other factors, games and consoles are all getting more expensive. The PS5 costs more today than it did at launch in 2020, which is just as weird as devs still making games for a 13-year-old device.

We are in strange, unprecedented, and not great times for the industry. So, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the next big Call of Duty is arriving on PS4 and Xbox One, despite those consoles being over a decade old. It’s not a bad thing, but it is a sign of the bigger problems facing the industry and the rest of the world.

Wondering if RoadCraft is available on PS4? Let’s find out.

RoadCraft is the latest game to gain traction in the gaming community. The simulation game tasks you with removing debris and rebuilding areas that have been heavily damaged due to natural disasters.

The game gives you access to tons of heavy-duty machinery and even has a multiplayer function, which means that you can rebuild and maintain roads and bridges with your friends. Here’s whether RoadCraft is available on the PS4.

Can you play RoadCraft on PS4?

No, RoadCraft is not available on the PS4. Developers Saber Interactive, known for the popular Mudrunner and Snowrunner games, have specifically designed the game for ninth-generation consoles, while the PS4 is an eighth-generation console.

Another potential reason for RoadCraft not being available on the PS4 is its hardware limitations. Many modern games that run on both the PS4 and PS5 are often locked at 30 FPS on the former, so rather than giving players a low-framerate experience, it seems that Saber Interactive have eliminated the possibility altogether.

Finally, both the PS4 and PS4 Pro come with internal HDD, and not SSD, which is included in both the minimum and recommended system requirements for RoadCraft, according to Steam.

Can you play RoadCraft on Xbox One?

No, you can’t play RoadCraft on the Xbox One because it’s also an eighth-generation console like the PS4. Additionally, even though the Xbox One is more powerful than the PS4 Pro, their ninth-generation counterparts are better equipped for the game’s features.

Is RoadCraft on Xbox Game Pass?

No, RoadCraft is currently not available on Xbox Game Pass as well as the Xbox App and Microsoft Store for PC. However, there’s always hope for it to be added at a later date, as new games are added to the Xbox Game Pass catalogue every month.

RoadCraft platforms

You can play RoadCraft on the PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games launcher. The game is priced at $39.99 for the Standard Edition and $49.99 for the Rebuild Edition.
