Google Cloud to Support Midnight’s Privacy-Focused ZK Network

by admin September 30, 2025

The Midnight Foundation announced a collaboration with Google Cloud on September 22, 2025, to support the infrastructure of its zero-knowledge (ZK) network.

According to the announcement, Google Cloud will run a validator and provide security and confidential computing services to enhance the development of applications that require data privacy.

Google Cloud Infrastructure and Security Role

Google Cloud’s role in the ecosystem includes operating network infrastructure and integrating its Confidential Computing service, which encrypts data during processing. In addition, Mandiant, a Google-owned cybersecurity firm, will provide threat monitoring for the Midnight network.

The collaboration also includes security enhancements from Mandiant, a cybersecurity firm owned by Google, which will provide threat monitoring for the Midnight network. This move aims to build a secure environment for developers and enterprises looking to build applications that handle sensitive information.

Richard Widmann, Head of Web3 Strategy and Operations at Google Cloud, said the collaboration reflects the balance enterprises seek when adopting new technologies. “The future of enterprise applications requires both transparency and privacy”.

He also pointed out that  by providing scalable infrastructure, they are enabling developers to experiment with zero-knowledge frameworks to verify transactions without exposing sensitive data.

Developer Support and Ecosystem Growth

The collaboration also extends to developer support. Startups building on Midnight will have access to the Google for Startups Web3 Program, which offers resources and credits valued at up to $200,000. The program is intended to encourage new projects and expand the range of privacy-preserving applications built with ZK technology.

By linking Midnight’s privacy-focused blockchain with Google Cloud’s enterprise infrastructure, the partnership brings tools and services aimed at developers and organizations in sectors where data security is a priority.

Midnight and Webisoft to Build Privacy-Focused Dark Pool DEX

by admin September 7, 2025

Midnight has partnered with Webisoft to launch a decentralized dark pool trading platform built for institutional investors. The platform will operate on the Midnight network and use advanced zero-knowledge (ZK) proof technology to keep trades completely private.

Midnight confirmed the update on X, “Midnight Webisoft is joining forces with the midnight foundation to build an institutional-grade dark pool trading platform. This project will use Midnight’s privacy-enhancing technology to create a secure, fully anonymous decentralized exchange (DEX).”

The partnership solves a big problem for institutional finance in decentralized ecosystems: the necessity for privacy is at odds with the fact that public blockchains are open to everyone. It will also give developers access to a full set of DeFi tools.

Tackling Transparency Challenges in DeFi

As per the blog post, traditional decentralized exchanges reveal all buy and sell orders, exposing large trades to the market. Consequently, this transparency creates price slippage and inefficiencies when institutions execute big orders. A single trade can lead to panic or excitement, moving prices before transactions are complete.

Dark pools solve this issue by hiding trade intentions. Buyers and sellers match privately, and trades finalize at market-driven prices. This protects confidentiality until after execution, preventing disruption.

Both companies intend to bring the model to Web3, combining privacy with avant-garde DeFi capabilities. The platform will be based on Midnight’s Zswap protocol to ensure secure atomic settlements.

It will also feature a private matching engine using multi-party computation (MPC) and custom wallet support through MetaMask Snap. Moreover, developers will access open-source tools to build privacy-preserving applications on the network.

Rational Privacy for Regulatory Balance

The project builds on Midnight’s concept of rational privacy. As Midnight Foundation President Fahmi Syed stated, “Privacy is a fundamental human and digital right, yet in our current systems, users give everything away just to participate.”

The platform allows institutions to confirm trades by using ZK proofs without revealing any sensitive information. This method tackles regulatory issues and ensures that user privacy is upheld.

Syed also emphasized, “Traditional blockchains make every transaction permanent and public. That’s a barrier to real-world adoption.”

The roadmap has confidential asset management, MPC-powered matching, and audited security reports. All components will be released under an Apache 2.0 license, encouraging broad developer adoption.

This collaboration could accelerate institutional adoption of DeFi by delivering privacy, compliance, and scalability, bridging the gap between traditional finance and decentralized ecosystems.

Silent Data Becomes First Privacy-Focused Layer 2 to Join Ethereum’s Superchain

by admin September 3, 2025

Silent Data, a new Ethereum Layer 2 network developed by Applied Blockchain, has become the first privacy-focused chain to join the Superchain, the company said in a Wednesday press release.

Built on the OP Stack, the London-based project is designed to let organizations run blockchain applications without exposing sensitive information, combining what it calls “programmable privacy” with scalability, performance, and regulatory alignment.

The OP Stack is the open-source development stack that powers the Optimism blockchain.

“Leveraging the OP Stack allows us to integrate into a robust and widely adopted Layer 2 ecosystem,” Applied Blockchain founder and CEO Adi Ben-Ari, said in the statement.

A layer 1 network is the base layer, or the underlying infrastructure of a blockchain. Layer 2 refers to a set of off-chain systems or separate blockchains built on top of layer 1s.

The Superchain, an ecosystem of more than 30 Layer 2 networks, includes Coinbase’s Base, OP Mainnet, Kraken’s Ink, Sony’s Soneium, Uniswap’s Unichain, and World Chain.

Silent Data is the first to introduce a privacy wrapper, enabling sensitive workloads to be executed on-chain without losing transparency or composability.

The project recently launched with a library of privacy-enabled applications and is already being tested across several industries.

Companies exploring its use include Tokeny, an Apex Group company, and Archax in real-world asset tokenization; Shell in energy trading; and CRYOPDP, a subsidiary of DHL Health Logistics, in healthcare and supply chain management.

Its stack can also be adopted by other Superchain layer 2s or projects looking to deploy their own rollups, signaling a wider move to bring enterprise-ready privacy into blockchain infrastructure, the firm said.
