One of our favorite video doorbells is 47 percent off in the run-up to Prime Day

by admin September 27, 2025

The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus is top pick for battery-powered doorbells, offering sharp 1536p video with a head-to-toe view that makes it easy to spot packages on the porch floor other doorbells might miss. It’s also the most responsive video doorbell our reviewer has tested, pulling up live feeds in about half the time of others.

Beyond that, the doorbell supports radar-based motion detection, which allows for more accurate notifications compared to previous models. It also retains support for color night vision, pre-recorded Quick Replies, and two-way talk, and, for $4.99 a month, you also get bonus features like package and people alerts. And because it works with Amazon Alexa, you can pull up the live feed on an Echo Show or Fire TV with just your voice for free.

Vintage Lord Of The Rings Book Box Set Is 55% Off For Prime Big Deal Days

by admin September 26, 2025

Amazon’s early Prime Big Deal Days sale features a wide assortment of excellent book deals, including steep discounts on a bunch of popular fantasy and sci-fi box sets. As usual, some of the most popular deals take readers back to Middle-earth. One of the standouts is a beloved 3-book box set of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings with artwork by Alan Lee on the front covers and beautiful display box. Prime members can get this vintage hardcover box set for only $40.79 (was $90), which is the lowest price this year.

After you’re done checking out the vintage box set, read on for more superb deals on Tolkien box sets, such as The Complete History of Middle-earth for $80.65 (was $250), and budget-friendly Collector’s Editions like The Hobbit for $11.33 and The Silmarillion for $12.26. With Prime Big Deal Days set for October 7-8, you can expect to see even more great promotions on Tolkien books in the coming days.

$40.79 (was $90) | Artwork by Alan Lee

One of the most popular modern editions of The Lord of the Rings, the 1988 hardcover box set offers the most economical way to get editions with cover and box art illustrated by Alan Lee. Widely considered to be the best artist who has worked on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Alan Lee’s Middle-earth landscape paintings and Middle-earth maps are gorgeous.

The box set has wrap-around art on the slipcase that matches the covers of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. Each cover resembles a painting, as the full-color illustrations have ornate frames with detailed patterns. These editions also come with fold-out maps of Middle-earth during the Third Age. Each book concludes with a section of appendices filled with fascinating reference material and background information.

The muted color palette combined with the classical typeface and faded yellow dust jackets makes these editions look appropriately vintage. Even over 45 years later, though, these editions are among the most beautiful you can buy today. It’s not surprising these hardcover editions and the box set remain in print. Across all three volumes, the 1988 edition of LOTR is 1,214 pages.

You can check out the cover designs of each of the three volumes below. Each hardcover is also sold separately, but you’d wind up spending roughly $50 and won’t get the lovely display box.

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (1988 editions)

As mentioned, the 1988 editions are the most affordable with cover art by Alan Lee, but there are editions filled with incredible illustrations by the artist. Last year, William Morrow published a remastered edition of the phenomenal 1992 Centenary Edition of The Lord of the Rings. The collector’s set carries a $325 retail price, but it’s also on sale in Amazon’s early Prime Big Deal Days sale. You can get The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set for only $135.09 (58% off). This three-volume set is packaged in a custom cloth board display box and features over 50 new illustrations and drawings by Lee. The books themselves have cloth board cases and are quarterbound in leather. Check out our dedicated story on The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set to see why these editions are so special.

In October, William Morrow will publish a four-book box set with Alan Lee’s illustrations for $139.50 (was $150). This edition is notable because it also comes with The Hobbit. All four hardcover volumes have wrap-around dust jacket illustrations. Before you preorder a copy: This edition originally released in 2020 in the UK, and you can buy that version for considerably less at Amazon, too.

All five matching hardcover editions are steeply discounted.

Amazon’s early sale has also brought deals on last year’s budget-friendly Lord of the Rings Collector’s Edition hardcovers. These editions are similar in size to the 1988 editions, but they have a more modernized look, with stained edges, foil-stamped cover art, maps on the interior covers, and ribbon bookmarks. Matching editions of The Hobbit and The Silmarillion were published, too.

All five of these $35 hardcover editions are on sale for $15 or less. The Hobbit is only $11.33, and The Silmarillion is just $12.26. There is a box set with the three volumes of The Lord of the Rings, but it’s cheaper to buy each book separately at the moment.

Amazon’s sale also includes The Complete History of Middle-earth, a massive 5,440-page box set collecting all 12 volumes of The History of Middle-earth across three hardcovers. The $250 hardcover box set has dropped to only $80.65–the lowest price ever. We also have a dedicated story about The History of Middle-earth that’s worth reading, as it also details the 2024 box set series featuring 15 History of Middle-earth books across four decorative box sets.

William Morrow continued its Tolkien box set project over the summer with a pair of beautiful hardcover collections. Tolkien Myths and Legends, a four-book box set containing epic poems and classic myths written or translated by Tolkien. This collection released in June, but it’s up for grabs for only $51 (was $125) for Prime Big Deal Days. The sixth box set in the series, a new edition of The Great Tales of Middle-earth–a hardcover collection of three posthumously published novels–released in August and is on sale for $75 (was $125).

More J.R.R. Tolkien Book Deals

Other notable Tolkien book deals include The Nature of Middle-earth, a collection of the author’s final writings on the fantasy world he brought to life. The Nature of Middle-earth’s hardcover edition is on sale for only $12 (was $32). The History of The Hobbit, meanwhile, is a 992-page hardcover containing Tolkien’s complete unpublished draft of The Hobbit as well as his illustrations and notes. It also has commentary by scholar John Rateliff that pulls back the curtain on how The Hobbit came to be. The History of The Hobbit is discounted to $18.81 (was $55) in hardcover. Another insightful behind-the-scenes book is The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien: Revised and Expanded Edition. On sale for $13.85 (was $40), this 720-page hardcover includes hundreds of letters written to his editors and publishers, his family and friends, and even his fans.

Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective Has Clothbound Cover With Metallic Art

by admin September 25, 2025

Ahead of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond’s release this December, fans of the iconic Nintendo series can revisit the original Prime Trilogy in written form. On October 28, an official Metroid Prime Trilogy retrospective will be published by Piggyback, the strategy guide publisher best known for its excellent Legend of Zelda guidebooks. Preorders for Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective are available now at Amazon for $46.49 (was $50).

With Amazon’s preorder price guarantee, you’ll automatically get any price cuts offered between the time you order and launch.

$46.49 (was $50) | Releases October 28

The book’s full title is Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective: The Official Art and Making of Metroid Prime 1-3.

The 212-page clothbound hardcover with a stitched binding and etched metallic foil cover art featuring Samus Aran wearing the Varia Suit. Piggyback is using high-quality, sheet-fed art paper to showcase the concept art and sketches from the development of the original Metroid Prime (2002), Prime 2: Echoes (2004), Prime 3: Corruption (2007), and Metroid Prime Remastered (2023).

Along with the artwork, the book contains commentary from Retro Studios developers. The foreword was written by Metroid Prime series producer Kensuke Tanabe, and each of the four sections are introduced by a developer from Retro Studios.

Preorder Metroid Prime 4: Beyond + Amiibo

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches December 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. The Switch 2 version is available to preorder at Amazon, Walmart, and other major retailers for $70. The original Switch version is up for preorder for $60. If you want to upgrade to Switch 2 to play Metroid Prime 4 in 4K resolution, Amazon finally has Nintendo’s new console in stock. The upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A Bundle has sold out a couple of times, but the Mario Kart World Switch 2 Bundle is available for $499.

Nintendo is also releasing three new Amiibo for Metroid Prime 4. Two different Samus Amiibo figures launch November 6, while Sylux releases December 4. Amazon is sold out of two of the Amiibo, while Walmart is sold out of the one Amiibo Amazon has in stock. You can also still get the Metroid Dread Amiibo 2-Pack featuring Samus and E.M.M.I. for $28.73 at Amazon.

More Metroid Games

Metroid Prime Remastered

If you haven’t played Metroid Prime Remastered, we’d highly recommend checking it out ahead of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. It’s one of the very best games for Nintendo Switch and will serve as a good primer (sorry) for Beyond. For classic side-scrolling Metroid, check out Metroid Dread for Switch and Metroid: Samus Returns on 3DS. The latter is a great remake of Metroid II that flew a bit under the radar because it launched in 2017 after the Switch hit the market. Dread and Samus Returns were developed by MercurySteam.

Nintendo Switch Online members can play the first five Metroid games on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Metroid, Metroid II, and Super Metroid are available with the Switch Online Individual membership ($20/year). To get the Game Boy Advance games–Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission–you need the Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership ($50/year).

And if you want to play all of these Metroid games with a controller themed around the franchise, PowerA recently launched an officially licensed wireless controller featuring Samus Aran and a galactic background. You can also grab a pair of wired Metroid-themed earbuds packaged in a drawstring bag with Metroid artwork.

Amazon has deals on the hardcover editions of Piggyback’s other recent Nintendo books. We’ve included a list of those below. And if you’re looking for more official Nintendo art and lore books, you should check out Dark Horse’s series of Zelda and Super Mario books.

After Months Without a Discount, ASUS’s 15.6” Portable Monitor Drops Again Ahead of Prime Big Deal Days

by admin September 23, 2025

Having a work-from-home job doesn’t necessarily mean you need to always be working from home. You feasibly have the power to work from anywhere in the world so long has you have stable Wi-Fi. The thing that used to get in the way of me getting out more often with my laptop is that I don’t like working off just my laptop screen. At my desk, I have spoiled myself with three large monitors and can see everything I’m working on at once. On my laptop, I’m caught flipping through endless tabs and apps, losing track of what I’m looking at constantly. But now, I have gotten myself a portable monitor. You can too as this one from ASUS just dropped on Amazon from $209 to just $169. That 19% discount will save you a solid $40.

See at Amazon

Get Out More

For the worker that wants to get out and about more, ASUS’ portable monitor is perfect at it’s 15.6-inch display size. If you decide to head over to your local coffee shop or maybe get some work done in your hotel room while traveling, you can simulate your desktop experience, being able to view more of what you want to have access to at once. You can have the spreadsheet your building out on one display while you have your email or Slack opened up on the second as not to miss any pings coming your way. Or instead you can mute any incoming notifications and use your second monitor to watch the latest episode of Peacemaker while putting slides together for your next presentation on the first one.

The ASUS monitor has a built-in kickstand, making it easy to prop up. It can be setup in either landscape or portrait mode. I’m a big champion of the vertical display. Having your email or slack set up vertically just makes more sense than landscape. You can see more of your messages at once and be able to read more of those longwinded emails before you need to scroll down again.

The monitor supports a hybrid-signal, meaning the USB-C allows for the transmission of both video and power. This is wonderful because it means you’ll have less cables running across your workspace. It just needs the one USB-C cable connected from your laptop and that’s enough to turn on the portable ASUS monitor and send the video feed to it.

If you want to use the ASUS monitor as a more permanent secondary monitor, you’ll be happy to learn it is tripod hold compatible, letting you mount the display.

CleanSpark (CLSK) Shares Rise After Getting $100M Bitcoin-Backed Credit From Coinbase Prime

by admin September 22, 2025

Bitcoin mining company CleanSpark (CLSK) has secured a new $100 million credit facility with Coinbase Prime, giving it access to fresh capital without selling its bitcoin holdings or raising equity.

The shares rose nearly 6% in post-market trading, after the announcement on Monday.

The mining company will use the proceeds for strategic capital expenditures, including expanding CleanSpark’s energy portfolio, scaling its bitcoin mining operations, and investing in high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities, the company said in a press release.

Rather than selling bitcoin to raise cash or selling additional shares of the firm—a move that can dilute the current shareholders—CleanSpark is using the asset as collateral to keep growing while holding on to what it mines.

“Delivering accretive growth using non-dilutive financing is at the core of CleanSpark’s capital strategy,” said Gary A. Vecchiarelli, CleanSpark’s CFO. “Our ‘Infrastructure First’ strategy has been proven historically and will further enhance shareholder value as we expand into more diversified compute opportunities.”

The new raise comes after recent leadership changes hinted at the miner going beyond just mining bitcoin and diversifying into other revenue opportunities. The focus on HPC isn’t surprising, as more and more bitcoin miners are pivoting into hosting machines that cater to HPC and artificial intelligence computing, which requires a tremendous amount of energy, in their data centers.

LEGO Is Offloading the Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle for Early Prime Day, Now Selling at a Steal

by admin September 21, 2025

Harry Potter and Star Wars have always been LEGO’s biggest hits, and that’s no accident. These sets click with fans in a way few things do: they’re beautifully designed, instantly recognizable and tap into stories that people love to revisit.

Out of all of them, the Hogwarts castle and grounds set is one that really captures the magic. It’s sitting at a 4.8 out of 5 rating with nearly 2,000 reviews, which should tell you just how much people enjoy it. And the timing couldn’t be better: right now on Amazon it’s down to $136 from $169, the lowest price it’s ever been. With early Prime Day deals already dropping, this one could vanish quickly if stock runs out.

See at Amazon

Creating The Magic of Hogwarts at Home

There’s something special about seeing Hogwarts assemble before your own eyes, piece by piece. It’s not just the castle – it’s the grounds and the castle, in LEGO detail for the very first time ever. With 2,660 pieces, you’ve got a project that’s in-depth without being overwhelming. When finished, it’s more than 8.5 inches tall, 13.5 inches wide, and 10 inches deep, a near-perfect balance between stand-out large and fit-as-a-book small.

And the details, those details – those create the magic. The Great Hall, the Astronomy Tower, the greenhouses, bridges, courtyards, the Boathouse on the Black Lake—it’s all there. Hidden spots bring more surprises: the Chamber of Secrets, the Potions Classroom, the Winged Key room, and the giant chessboard chamber. Out on the lake you’ll notice the Beauxbatons Carriage and the Durmstrang Ship, while the Whomping Willow (complete with a flying Ford Anglia) adds another nod to the films.

And then of course, is the actual enjoyment, which is building. Sets like these are built with adult fans in mind and give you a project that you can get your hands on, recharging while creating. It’s the kind of build that feels almost meditative: you settle in, sort the bricks, and step by step construct one of the most iconic landmarks from the Wizarding World. And when you’re done, it isn’t just a pile of bricks, it’s a model that looks fantastic on display and instantly sparks conversations.

What makes this deal even sweeter is the price point. At $136, you’re getting a set this detailed for less than many similar adult-oriented LEGO models which often climb past $200. With the number of pieces, the design quality, and Harry Potter set popularity in mind, this is one of those offers that does not sit around.

If Your Laptop Needs Power, This 145W Portable Power Bank Is Selling for Peanuts Ahead of October Prime Day

by admin September 21, 2025

Small power banks normally only do as much as charging up phones, and that’s it. However, if you want a small charger that also can charge your laptop, this Ugreen 145W 25,000mAh model is something to consider. It’s rather revolutionary in its segment and is being sold in store on Amazon as an early Prime Day deal: Right now, it’s dropping to an all-time low price of $66, down from $99.

See at Amazon

Compact Powerhouse with Laptop-Level Charging

Ugreen’s power bank doesn’t just handle phones but it also tackles laptops and other high-demand devices with ease. Equipped with a massive 25,000mAh battery, it offers enough juice to fully recharge laptops about 1.3 times and phones up to 5.2 times.

What distinguishes the model is its turbo-speed 145W charging through PD3.1 and QC3.0 technology. Standout is the USB-C1 port, which has a capacity of up to 140W. That equates to charging a 16-inch MacBook Pro from zero to 56% in 30 minutes which is a quick pace for a portable charger. Besides that, there is two-way fast charging, meaning with a 65W or higher charger, you can easily top-up the power bank itself in roughly 2 hours.

The convenience factor is also very high with a very slim and light weight design that can be carried in any backpack or even a large pocket. There is a digital showing that displays the battery level clearly, so you will never be left stranded by low power at a critical time.

For $66 on Amazon with a 34% discount, it’s an all-time low price for a portable charger with serious power without serious bulk.

Dyson Is Going Nuts with Its Tower Fan, Now Selling for Peanuts Ahead of Prime Day

by admin September 21, 2025

Dyson has been a leader for years regarding airflow control, first making its reputation with innovative vacuum cleaners, then with success for its innovative hair dryers. Its fan and air purifier product line more recently has also been a huge success. They’re good-looking enough to sit in any living room or bedroom, but their real strength is in their efficacy.

Now this Dyson Cool AM07 air multiplier bladeless tower fan has dropped to an all-time low price at Amazon, a deal better than what we have seen on Prime Day or Black Friday: It costs $249, having been reduced from $399, representing a 38 percent discount on a fan that pairs style with performance.

See at Amazon

Innovative Airflow Technology That Packs a Punch

The Dyson Cool AM07 uses air multiplier technology to amplify ambient air for a steady and smooth stream of cooling air that doesn’t interrupt with blades chopping at the air. Not only is this bladeless design streamlined and safe but it creates airflow that’s natural-sounding and uninterrupted which is perfect for cooling a room pleasantly without shocking gusts. With 10 precise airflow levels, you are able to adjust the fan power to your needs.

This model also has silky smooth oscillation across a 70-degree range so that the airflow can move about a room without blowing down on a single spot. That’s something that makes it perfect for bedrooms or living rooms where you’re looking for a more even heat distribution. The rounded shape of the fan and magnetized remote are pleasing touches that keep your home tidy and uncluttered: no rummaging about under sofas or behind tables for misplaced remotes.

You can also use the sleep timer to automatically turn off the fan anywhere from 15 minutes up to 9 hours, so you can set it and forget it without wasting power on running the fan unnecessarily. This is what makes it a great companion on warm nights when you want cooling with the pleasure of not running the fan all night long.

Apart from looks and air flow, Dyson fans are designed to be silent so you will not be woken up by humming or rattling sounds. That makes the Cool AM07 ideal for home offices, nurseries, and where quiet is important. The iron and blue color scheme complements most decors and adds a touch of subtlety without dominating the space.

At $249, the Dyson Cool AM07 tower fan is a rare deal that won’t last long.

Amazon October Prime Day 2025: how to find the best deals

by admin September 19, 2025

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days is one of the biggest shopping events of the year, and it’s returning October 7th and 8th. The two-day shopping affair will grant Prime members access to some of the best prices of the year on Amazon devices, as well as products from Sony, Sonos, Microsoft, Apple, Withings, and other well-known brands. This applies to items spanning a range of categories, including gaming peripherals, laptops, 4K TVs, phones, PC accessories, and more.

As always, you can count on us to publish only the best deals during Prime Big Deal Days — as well as any worthwhile ones featured at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and other competing retailers. That said, if you want to be sure you catch any and all deals that are most important to you — or be among the first to know of certain price drops — we’ve compiled some helpful tools and advice.

Below, we’ve spelled out a few of our best deal-hunting tips, from how to use automated price trackers to the different ways you can set up your own personalized deal alerts. All of these methods and tools are free to use, and once you put in just a little bit of work, you can rest easy knowing that you don’t need to take much action until it comes time to make a purchase.

Use a price-tracking tool or deal aggregator

CamelCamelCamel’s extension helps you keep tabs on historical price trends with useful graphs like these. Image: CamelCamelCamel

CamelCamelCamel tracks the price of every product sold on Amazon and can send you alerts only when they reach the price that’s right for you. Once a product reaches the desired price you’ve set (or goes below it), you’ll get an email about it. CamelCamelCamel only works for products on Amazon, so you’ll need to use one of the other methods below if you want to track price movement at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and other retailers.

To track prices and get alerts via email, you’ll first need to create a free account. We also suggest installing the site’s browser extension, called The Camelizer, which lets you see pricing trends on a product-by-product basis, and allows you to set your desired price without navigating away from Amazon. It’s fantastic and easy to use.

And, if you already have a wishlist saved on Amazon, you can import it into CamelCamelCamel.

Slickdeals allows you to set up custom alerts for specific keywords, though finding the right parameters can be a trial and error process. Screenshot: Slickdeals

Slickdeals aggregates some of the best deals around the internet, as discovered by its team and community of users. It’s a great place to find a curated set of deals on things you might be interested in. The site also allows you to create deal alerts based on keywords, but they work a little differently on Slickdeals than they do on the above sites.

You can type in a product name, like “Sonos Era 100” or a retailer’s name, and once it’s added to your list, you’ll be notified of a deal alert if it meets your criteria. You can set it to alert you to any deal related to your keyword, or you can filter out deals so that you’ll be notified if, for example, the deal is popular enough to make it to Slickdeals’ front page or earned a high rating from the community. Setting these keywords a little too broadly may result in frequent notification pings and emails, though, so you’ll need to use some discretion and find the right balance of how aggressively you want Slickdeals to notify you.

Unlike the Honey extension and The Camelizer, Keepa integrates historical pricing data directly into the Amazon product listing. Screenshot: Keepa

Keepa is another handy tool you can use to track and compare Amazon prices over time. Like CamelCamelCamel, Keepa provides charts that track pricing trends and will alert you when it finds a deal. You can also import any wishlists you’ve previously saved on Amazon.

Unlike CamelCamelCamel, however, you don’t necessarily need to create an account in order to track prices with Keepa. You just need to install the extension, and Keepa will automatically add a price history graph to supported product listings. The embedded extension features different tabs as well, one of which showcases pricing history and another that allows you to specify various pricing details. Once you’ve set your desired price, you’ll then receive price alerts via email, push notification, or RSS.

Set up deal alert notifications through Alexa or the Amazon app

If you’re a Prime member who owns a fourth-gen Echo speaker or a newer model, you can also request that Amazon send you deal notifications up to 24 hours ahead of time on products you’re interested in. Amazon can alert you of price drops on eligible products in your shopping cart or wishlist, as well as anything you’ve marked as “saved for later.” To enable the feature, tap More > Settings > Notifications in the Alexa app, and then tap Amazon Shopping. Then, scroll down to Shopping Recommendations and enable Deal Recommendations. Once done, you’ll receive a notification on both your device and your Echo speaker (the latter in the form of a yellow ring) notifying you of the deal.

Alternatively, you can sign up to receive deal alerts regarding products you’ve recently viewed in the Amazon Shopping app, as well as those related to your recent search history. If you’re a Prime member, you just need to navigate to the Prime Day event page in the mobile app between now and July 8th to create an alert. Once done, you’ll receive push notifications for any deal(s) you’ve subscribed to when the event begins. You can also just open the Amazon Shopping app and tap Settings > Notifications > Deals and Recommendations before toggling “Savings” and / or “Recommendations.”

Look for deals outside of Amazon

Prime Day is meant to show off Amazon’s huge retail presence, so, naturally, other retail chains take notice. Because of this, you can sometimes find better deals at retailers like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy. At the very least, they may be able to match Amazon’s pricing if you ask.

If Amazon’s upcoming sale doesn’t have everything you want or if you just want to make sure you’re getting the best deal, shop around a bit. In the past, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy have hosted their own events in an effort to counter Amazon. And as usual, you’ll be able to find all of our deals coverage in and outside of Amazon here.

We’re a discerning bunch here at The Verge, so don’t fret if you’re going into this without any prep.
