Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Restocked At Amazon, Lumiere Edition Reprint Up For Preorder

by admin June 10, 2025

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 turned out to be a much bigger hit than most people were probably expecting. In fact, it currently holds a 93 on Metacritic, which includes GameSpot’s 9/10 review, making it the best-reviewed video game of 2025 so far. It was immediately clear that publisher Kepler Interactive hadn’t anticipated the level of demand for the debut title from Sandfall Interactive. Physical editions of the budget-priced $50 release have essentially been sold out since the game’s April 24 launch. But fast forward to June, and we’re finally starting to see retailers replenish their stock.

Amazon restocked the PS5 physical edition on June 9. Meanwhile, GameStop is taking preorders on a reprint of its exclusive $70 Lumiere Edition. The upcoming reprint may not arrive for a few months, but at least fans can secure some exclusive merch, including an exclusive steelbook and Expeditioner’s Journal art book, without overpaying on the reseller market.

$50

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s physical edition sold out for PS5 and Xbox Series X shortly after the game launched on April 24. Restocks have been infrequent for both platforms, though Amazon restocked the PS5 physical edition on June 9. At the time of writing, Amazon’s store page was shifting back and forth between available and sold out.

We’d recommend checking the links below, because other retailers might follow Amazon’s restock with one of their own.

Check stock at:

$70 | Reprint Preorder | Releases October 31

The GameStop-exclusive Lumiere Edition is only available for PS5 in the US. The upcoming reprint, at least at the moment, is listed for an October 31 release. We’ll update with a new date if that changes, since Halloween might be a placeholder date.

Here’s a look at everything included in the Lumiere Edition:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 physical edition
  • Collectible Steelbook Case featuring Maelle, Gustave, and the Paintress
  • The Expeditioner’s Journal – 48-page hardcover art book
  • Digital Deluxe Upgrade Pack (in-game DLC)
    • The Flowers Collection – Six Flowers of Lumiere outfits and hairstyles / Six Gommage outfit variations
    • Custom “Clair” outfit for Maelle
    • Custom “Obscur” outfit for Gustave

$150 | Sold Out

SOLD OUT

Unlike the Limited Edition, the Collector’s Edition doesn’t appear to be getting a reprint. The Collector’s Edition was also exclusive to PS5 and only at GameStop. Along with all of the bonus DLC from the Lumiere and Digital Deluxe Editions, here’s what’s included in the box:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 base game
  • An 8-inch hand-painted Monolith music box
  • A collectible Steelbook case featuring unique cover art
  • The Expeditioner’s Journal 48-page hardcover artbook
  • The “Flowers” Collection DLC with unique cosmetic items
  • A “Clair” custom outfit for Maelle
  • An “Obscur” custom outfit for Gustave

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 PC Game Deals

If you’re simply interested in checking out the game, Steam keys are available for 10% off at GameSpot sister site Fanatical.

Clair Obscur is also available on Xbox and PC Game Pass. It’s an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can carry their saves from PC to Xbox and vice-versa.

Nintendo Switch 2 Cameras – Three Official Models Are Up For Preorder

by admin May 25, 2025

If you’re looking forward to the Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat feature but haven’t snagged a camera yet, there are now three official USB-C cameras to choose from. Nintendo’s first-party Switch 2 Camera has sold out multiple times since preorders opened last month, but you can preorder the $55 accessory at a few different retailers at the moment.

Alternatively, Hori’s upcoming lineup of officially licensed Nintendo Switch 2 accessories includes two unique cameras. One of them doubles as an adorable Super Mario Piranha Plant decoration, while the other Hori USB Camera is a portable-minded option for TV, handheld, and tabletop modes.

It’s worth noting that the Switch 2 will support select third-party USB-C cameras, including existing cameras not technically designed for Switch 2. Nintendo will offer a “Test USB Camera” feature in the system settings so you can check if your device is supported.

$55 | Releases June 5

The official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera has a 1080p resolution lens and connects to the console via USB-C. Designed with the Switch 2’s GameChat feature in mind, the sleek camera features an adjustable lens that can be tilted to different angles. It can capture small areas with one or two people in the frame as well as larger rooms with wide view.

The official camera can be activated with the the new C menu button on the Switch 2 Pro Controller, Joy-Con 2, and officially licensed third-party controllers like the Horipad Turbo and PowerA Super Mario-themed controllers. The C button activates GameChat, though the video portion of the new communication suite is optional.

With GameChat, you can talk to friends using the Switch 2’s built-in mics, share your gameplay, and video chat (provided you have a camera).

Camera-based gameplay features will also be available in select games, including Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV.

$60 | Releases June 11

Hori’s Piranha Plant Camera makes for a very cute display piece for Super Mario fans. It even has the Switch 2 logo on the warp pipe. But there is a rather big downside to this officially licensed camera: It only supports 480p resolution, so it’s substantially worse from a technical perspective compared to the camera made by Nintendo.

If you mainly want this because it’d double as a cool decoration, it’s worth noting that the Lego Super Mario Piranha Plant is available for $48 (was $60) at Amazon.

Speaking of Amazon: The reason Amazon is carrying the Piranha Plant Camera is because it’s manufactured by Hori. Amazon still sells officially licensed third-party Nintendo accessories, but not first-party accessories. That’s why you won’t find the official Switch 2 Camera at Amazon.

$60 | Releases June 30

While Amazon is sold out of preorders for the Piranha Plant Camera, the other Hori camera is still available to buy at Amazon and Best Buy. Like the Piranha Plant Camera, Hori’s compact Switch 2 USB Camera is limited to 480p resolution.

So, why would you want this $60 camera over the official one? It certainly doesn’t have the visual flair of the Piranha Plant Camera, but it has its own potentially appealing focus: portability. This tiny USB-C camera can be used when the Switch 2 is docked as well as in handheld and tabletop modes. In handheld and tabletop modes, the camera essentially becomes a dongle, so it’ll look like a webcam attached to a laptop. It also has a removable privacy lens cover.

The first-party Nintendo camera also supports tabletop and handheld. modes, but it’s clearly not as friendly from a travel perspective. You’ll either need to hold it or place it on a flat surface, which could be inconvenient in certain situations. Due to its long neck, you probably wouldn’t want to toss Nintendo’s camera in a backpack.

For more Switch 2 gear, check out our roundup of all of the first-party accessories slated to launch alongside the new console on June 5. We also have a list of all of the Nintendo Switch 2 games you can preorder now.

Tolkien Collectible Book Sets Are Up For Preorder – Myths, Legends, Tales Of Middle-earth

by admin May 24, 2025

J.R.R. Tolkien fans can soon add two display-worthy book box sets to their collection. Tolkien Myths and Legends Box Set, which features lesser-known original works and translations of classic English literature, releases on June 10. It will be followed up on August 19 by new editions of The Great Tales of Middle-earth, which is comprised of the final three prose novels set in Tolkien’s iconic fantasy world. The new hardcover box sets feature lavish cover art and display cases. They are considered the fifth and sixth entries in a series of hardcover book box sets that debuted last year with the The History of Middle-earth, which was published by William Morrow in its entirety across four beautiful collections.

$125 | Releases June 10

The Tolkien Myths and Legends Box Set is a unique collection of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work, because it doesn’t contain stories about Middle-earth. Instead, as the title suggests, it compiles classic myths and legends, two of which were written by the author, while the other two were personal translations of some of his favorite works that inspired him.

Like the vast majority of his posthumously published work, these were pieced together and edited by his son, Christopher Tolkien. Each hardcover book comes with a double-sided dust jacket. Just like The History of Middle-earth Box Sets, one side features elaborate artwork, while the other side has a more subdued aesthetic with solid colors. The four books come packaged in an eye-catching display case.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight / Orfeo / Pearl: Translations of a trio of classic epic poems juxtaposed with Tolkien’s famous 1953 lecture on Sir Gawain.

The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrún: An epic verse poem by Tolkien. It was inspired by classic poetry and Norse mythology. Along with Tolkien’s composition, you’ll find notes and commentary from Christopher Tolkien.

The Fall of Arthur: A narrative poem written by Tolkien that chronicles King Arthur’s final days. The book includes extensive notes made by Tolkien while drafting his only Arthurian legend. Fans of The Silmarillion will want to read this one, as it clearly inspired the plot of Tolkien’s Arthurian-esque Middle-earth book.

Beowulf: One of the most famous–and the oldest known—epic poem of Old English literature, Beowulf has received many translations. Tolkien wrote his translation in 1926 and then circled back later. In addition to the translation of the original poem, this book contains a plethora of commentary by Tolkien himself, which will give readers a glimpse into the mind of Tolkien the scholar.

If you’re interested in the Myths and Legends Box Set, you should also check out The Collected Poems of J.R.R. Tolkien, a massive three-volume hardcover box that released last fall. The gorgeous box set, which is on sale for nearly 50% off, compiles Tolkien’s life’s work as a poet and clocks in at over 1,700 pages.

$125 | Releases August 19

The Great Tales of Middle-earth is a must-read collection for all dedicated fans of The Lord of the Rings. Though understandably not nearly as well-known as The Hobbit, LOTR, or even The Silmarillion, the trio of novels in this set are the final pieces of prose fiction that take place across the author’s iconic brilliant fantasy world. All of the stories take place during Middle-earth’s First Age, so while written and published later than Tolkien’s other books, these are the oldest full-length stories in Middle-earth.

The new 2025 hardcover editions come with reversible dust jackets and feature special color plates, pencil drawings, and illustrated maps by Christopher Tolkien and beloved LOTR illustrator Alan Lee.

Here are the three books you’ll find in the beautiful display case, which features a fire-breathing dragon.

The Children of Húrin (2007): Written after The Silmarillion as a standalone prequel story, The Children of Húrin takes place 6,000 years before the events of LOTR. The story follows the cursed son of Húrin, named Túrin, during an era of intense and constant war and widespread devastation caused by the Dark Lord Morgoth. If you’ve read The Silmarillion, you will recognize some of the names found in this novel.

Beren and Lúthien (2017): Another very early tale set in Middle-earth, Beren and Lúthien was reworked and revised over time and eventually became part of The Silmarillion. This compilation of Lúthien and Beren’s story was originally published in 2017. It shows the evolution of the love story between the mortal man Beren and immortal elf Lúthien.

The Fall of Gondolin (2018): Founded by King Turgon, the eponymous city of elves was concealed for many years before Lord Morgoth’s quest to destroy elven life across Middle-earth. The Fall of Gondolin’s main protagonist is Túrin’s cousin, Tuor, and his family. Tuor is married to Turgon’s daughter, Idril. The story follows their attempt to save their child after the Gondolin (unsurprisingly) falls.

It’s worth noting that The Great Tales of Middle-earth is already available as a hardcover box set. While it won’t match Myths and Legends or the four History of Middle-earth Box Sets, the 2018 hardcover collection is on sale for only $50 (was $100) at Amazon. Alternatively, you can purchase each book individually in hardcover or paperback.

The Great Tales of Middle-earth Editions:

J.R.R. Tolkien – The History of Middle-earth Box Sets (2024)

The History of Middle-earth was originally published over a 14-year stretch from 1983 to 1996. While creating his fantasy world, Tolkien took extensive notes, building a backstory for Middle-earth across three different ages and 6,500-plus years. You could argue that the author’s dedication to crafting the setting that would become home to a pair of landmark fantasy novels turned Middle-earth into the most believable character Tolkien created. His mythopoeic writings formed what is commonly referred to as Tolkien’s legendarium.

At the time of Tolkien’s death in 1973, the exhaustive backstory of Middle-earth remained unpublished. Over the next few years, his son and literary executor, Christopher Tolkien, undertook the daunting project of editing, expanding, and curating the legendarium into publishable works. The legendarium would become a 12-volume series titled The History of Middle-earth.

Though The Silmarillion is now included in modern editions of the series–it’s Book 1 in the newest box sets–the collection of myths was first published in 1977. If it had been Tolkien’s decision, The Silmarillion would have been published after The Hobbit. When his publisher turned down the manuscript, Tolkien pivoted to the story that would become The Lord of the Rings.

Over the years, he continued to revise and expand The Silmarillion. Early drafts and branching stories penned while reworking the manuscript would become key components of his legendarium. As such, The History of Middle-earth, in part, showcases Tolkien’s development as a worldbuilder. This is why The Silmarillion is presented as the first book in The History of Middle-earth. To get the most out of the sprawling Middle-earth character study, it’s wise to read the interconnected myths within The Silmarillion.

For the 2024 hardcover box set releases, publisher William Morrow reorganized The History of Middle-earth into 15 separate books, including the invaluable reference Index. The series is a substantial undertaking, as it clocks in 5,328 pages across its 15 volumes. With Amazon’s current prices, you can get all four box sets for $262 (was $475), which saves you over $200.

Check out all four of the 2024 Middle-earth box sets below. An alternative to the 15-book collection is the weighty three-volume hardcover set released in 2020. Totaling 5,440 pages–over 1,800 pages per book–The Complete History of Middle-earth Box Set is an understated, brilliantly designed trio of hardcovers that’s available for $138 (was $250). For a sampling of what the series has to offer, there’s a five-book paperback box set for $28 (was $50).

$63.37 (was $125)

The History of Middle-earth Box Set 1 comes with four hardcover books with reversible dust jackets adorned with brand-new scenic landscape artwork. If you prefer a “quieter” look, the opposite side has a traditional artwork with solid color backgrounds. All four dust jackets have different primary colors, regardless of which side you want to use for display, which gives it a unique, eye-catching appearance.

The History of Middle-earth Box Set 1 released in February 2024 and is discounted by roughly 50% at Amazon. Together, the four hardcover books listed below total 1,536 pages.

  • The Silmarillion
  • Unfinished Tales
  • Book of Lost Tales, Part I
  • Book of Lost Tales, Part II

$57.18 (was $100)

  • The Lays of Beleriand
  • The Shaping of Middle-earth
  • The Lost Road

The History of Middle-earth Box Set 2 is the only collection with three books instead of four. As a result, the set sold for $100 when it released in May 2024. Right now, you can get the 1,264-page collection for only $57.

$68 (was $125)

  • Morgoth’s Ring
  • The War of the Jewels
  • The Peoples of Middle-earth
  • The History of Middle-earth Index

Published in September 2024, The History of Middle-earth Box Set 4 concludes the series and even comes with a standalone edition of the Index, which is a handy book to reference while poring over the sprawling Middle-earth histories, lore, and stories. You can purchase the 1,264-page collection for $68 (was $125) at Amazon.

More J.R.R. Tolkien Book Box Sets

The Lord of the Rings: Deluxe Illustrated Box Set (2024)

William Morrow’s new hardcover box sets with reversible covers are far from the only stunning Tolkien collections that are worth checking out. The Lord of the Rings has received many different box sets over the years, including a superb high-end edition last fall. The Lord of the Rings: Deluxe Illustrated Box Set remastered the fan-favorite 1992 set with illustrations by Alan Lee. With over 50 new drawings and paintings, silver foil-stamped covers, and hybrid cloth-leather bindings, these editions are truly a sight to behold. The foil-stamped clothboard display case holds all three parts of The Lord of the Rings as well as three exclusive art cards and two foldout maps by Christopher Tolkien.

The LOTR Deluxe Illustrated Box Set launched with an eye-watering $325 price, but Amazon is currently selling it for $146–a savings of 55% ($179).

The Deluxe Illustrated Box Set wasn’t the only collectible LOTR set released last year. William Morrow also published budget-friendly Collector’s Editions of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion. The three parts of LOTR were later collected in one handsome Collector’s Edition Box Set. Each book in the hardcover Collector’s Edition series has stained edges, foil-stamped cover art, a ribbon bookmark, and maps as endpapers. All five Collector’s Editions are available individually for around $20 or less.

Tolkien Illustrated Editions.

Though not box sets, we’d be remiss to not mention the Tolkien Illustrated Editions when discussing collectible versions of Tolkien’s masterworks. Each of these beautiful hardcover books features drawings, sketches, and paintings composed by Tolkien himself while he built Middle-earth with words. The books have foil-stamped covers, sprayed page edges with elvish script, a ribbon bookmark, and a pair of removable maps.

Deluxe Special Editions of Tolkien Illustrated versions of The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings have cloth board bindings with quarterbound ribbed leather, clouthbound slipcases, an art card, and an illustrated booklet.

More Tolkien Book Deals

The list below includes deals on an assortment of editions of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and more. One standout here is The Silmarillion Special Edition, which was published in 2021 and feels like a natural pairing with The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set. This foil-stamped, clothbound edition has a slipcase with custom artwork and comes with a pair of full-color posters.

Where to preorder the Pro 2 controller and other Switch 2 accessories

by admin May 23, 2025

We’re now just a few weeks away from the release of the Switch 2, but it isn’t the only hardware launching on June 5th. Soon, Nintendo will also release a variety of new accessories for its upcoming gaming console, the bulk of which are now available for preorder at Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target ahead of their release. From a redesigned Pro Controller and cases to a camera that lets you video chat with your friends, each is designed to level up your gaming experience.

Sadly, President Trump’s on-again, off-again tariff policy has resulted in slight price bumps on several Switch 2 accessories — including the aforementioned Pro 2 Controller. There’s no telling whether we can expect more price hikes down the line, either, meaning if you do manage to preorder a Switch 2 and want to pick up a second controller or another accessory to go with it, now might be the time to act.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller

The removable Joy-Cons are great for portable and wireless play, but their small, curveless design can feel cramped during longer sessions if you have larger hands. That’s why the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller might be worth a look, especially if you mostly game in TV mode. The upgraded version of one of our favorite Nintendo Switch controller features a few welcome improvements, including a pair of rear GL and GR buttons players can use to remap other controls. Nintendo has also finally added a 3.5mm audio jack, allowing you to pair it with a headset or a set of wired headphones. The gamepad even features the aforementioned “C” button.

As of writing, you can preorder the Switch 2 Pro controller for $84.99 at Best Buy, GameStop, and Target. It was also initially available at Walmart; however, the retailer’s initial preorder allotment has since sold out.

Joy-Con 2 Wheel (set of two)

If you plan on picking up the new Mario Kart World, the Joy-Con 2 Wheels are worth a look. Simply snap the Joy-Con 2 controllers, which connect magnetically, into the steering wheel attachments before booting up your preferred racing title. The two-wheel set is currently available for preorder for $24.99 at Best Buy, GameStop, and Target.

Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case and Screen Protector

The Switch 2 is a pricey gadget you’ll want to keep safe, so it’s a good idea to invest in a carrying case like the Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector. We’ll likely see a wealth of third-party brands release their own version in the coming weeks, but Nintendo’s proprietary offering is likely to be one of the few available at launch.

The bundle — which includes a console-only carrying case, screen protector, and cleaning cloth — is only available for preorder for $39.99 at GameStop and Target, even if it was originally available elsewhere.

Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case

Nintendo is also launching an All-In-One Carrying Case on June 5th, which is more spacious than the model mentioned above. The higher-end case features separate compartments for stowing the console and various goodies, including the Switch 2 dock, Joy-Con 2 controllers, cables, and up to six game cards. You can preorder it now from GameStop for $84.99.

Supposedly, you can video chat with friends via GameChat using any compatible USB-C camera, but Nintendo offers its own solution in the form of the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera. The 1080p camera is designed to sit on a stand, allowing you to display your face as a picture-in-picture overlay or as a dedicated video feed. A few titles, such as the upgraded version of Super Mario Party Jamboree, let you see your friends on-screen while you play. Some mini-games even incorporate the camera into the game experience itself.

The camera features an adjustable wide-angle lens, designed to capture groups of people in a single shot, as well as a “high-sensitivity image sensor” that automatically adjusts brightness levels. It also features a built-in privacy shutter and includes a USB-C charging cable, as well as support for TV, tabletop, and handheld modes.

You can currently preorder it for $54.99 from Best Buy, GameStop, and Target.

Update, May 22nd: Updated to reflect current pricing and availability.

Minecraft Is Getting A D&D-Style Tabletop RPG – Preorder The Adventure Book

by admin May 23, 2025

Soon there will be a new way to interact with the world of Minecraft. The No. 1 best-selling game of all time is getting its own pen-and-paper RPG. Slated to release July 8, Minecraft: Roll for Adventure – The Temple of the Charged Creeper is a hardcover gamebook that will introduce players to the grand universe of tabletop RPGs. Amazon is offering a 20% preorder discount that drops the price of the budget-friendly gamebook to only $16.

While Roll for Adventure sounds like one of the cooler tabletop Minecraft experiences released since the video game debuted back in 2011, it’s far from the only one. Over the years, Minecraft has been turned into a variety of popular board and card games. In fact, one of the best Minecraft board games, Builders and Biomes, is getting a Junior version geared toward younger fans on August 1.

We’ve rounded up all of the notable Minecraft tabletop games you can buy now. After reading about the games, you can then check out the sprawling universe of Minecraft novels, comic books, and reference books at the bottom of this story. The list includes several discounted Minecraft novel box sets and exciting upcoming releases such as Minecraft: The Ultimate Mobstopper’s Collection Gift Box.

$16 (was $20) | Releases July 8

This 224-page hardcover gamebook sees you setting out on adventure across the Overworld. You’re tasked with tracking down Illagers who have ransacked a nearby town–and you’ll encounter plenty of challenges along the way. Part Minecraft, part Dungeons & Dragons, it looks like a fun game for both fans of the games and tabletop enthusiasts.

Inside the book you’ll find a set of rules to guide your journey, a bestiary full of enemy details, and a removable character sheet to track your progress. There are also four dice–which you’ll need to perform various actions and fend off foes.

The author, Matt Forbeck, has previously worked on popular books like Dungeons & Dragons: Endless Quest and Halo: Bad Blood, so expect this to be of high quality and packed with engaging decisions that change the course of the narrative.

Minecraft: Roll for Adventure is recommended for players ages 10 and up.

$25 | Releases August 1

A standard version of Minecraft: Builders and Biomes is currently available for $34 (was $40), but this Junior edition offers a streamlined alternative for younger players. Designed for kids 5 and up and with support for up to 4 players, you’ll work together to build a farm. You’ll need to collect various blocks and play them in the right order to have the best chance at success, and with 27 wooden blocks, a pickaxe and shovel accessories, and a chance to encounter familiar faces from the game, it looks like a fun spin-off from the original.

From Portal Dash to the Explorers Card Game:

Minecraft is no stranger to the world of board and card games. And beyond the two upcoming games above, there are plenty of others you can enjoy right now. Portal Dash is one of the most popular options–currently on sale for $30 (was $40), it sees you and up to three other players attempting to escape the Nether. You’ll gather powerful equipment as you navigate its deadly landscape, but you’ll also be pitted against increasingly dangerous foes, making it important to plan ahead. There’s also a Mattel Minecraft Card Game available for $21, where you’ll be mining for Resource Cards before using them to earn points via crafting.

A different type of card game, Minecraft Explorers, is a cooperative game for up to 4 players. Working together, you’ll attempt to discover various treasures and valuable resources without falling prey to the world’s many monsters. With a deck of colorful cards and easy to learn rules, it’s a fun choice for most fans. Other highlights include a Magnetic Travel Puzzle with 40 brain-busting challenges and a premium Minecraft Chess Set featuring blocky pieces inspired by characters from the game.

While Minecraft: Roll for Adventure – The Temple of the Charged Creeper looks like a fun adventure for fans of the game, there are plenty of Minecraft books that offer more traditional reading experiences. We’ve broken them out into sections below, starting with book box sets.

The box sets in the list below run the gamut from prose novels and graphic novels to reference book collections and the aforementioned Mobspotter’s Collection Gift Box, which includes an encyclopedia, a drawing guide, an interactive game where you hunt for zombies, and a kit to make your own zombie figure.

Minecraft: The Ultimate Mobspotter’s Collection Gift Box

Minecraft Graphic Novels (Paperback)

There are nine Minecraft graphic novels available now, six of which are collected in the two box sets mentioned above. The latest Minecraft graphic novel, Out of Order Volume 1, released on March 25.

Minecraft Novel Series

The Stonesword and Woodsword Chronicles box sets listed above were written for younger Minecraft fans (elementary to middle grade). There’s also a long-running series of Minecraft novels for young adult (and older) readers. Many of the 22 prose novels released so far are standalone stories, though some have received sequels or are loosely connected. You don’t have to start with the first book, but we’d recommend it anyway, because The Island was written by World War Z author Max Brooks. If you enjoy The Island, you should then check out The Mountain and The Village, both of which were written by Brooks as well.

All of the novels are available in hardcover and most have been published in paperback, too. In some cases, the hardcover is actually cheaper than the paperback, so we’ve included both editions in the chronological list below.

A Minecraft Movie: From Block to Big Screen

Lastly, check out the list below for a wide assortment of Minecraft guides, reference books, art books, and more. Notable new and upcoming releases include A Minecraft Movie: From Block to Big Screen, a behind-the-scenes look at the hit adaptation, and the Minecraft Official Blocks Guide, which releases October 14.

If you haven’t preordered a copy of A Minecraft Movie, the Limited Edition 4K Steelbook is available for $38 at Amazon. Over at Walmart, you can buy an exclusive Blu-ray edition with packaging that can be folded into a Crafting Table display model. A Minecraft Movie releases on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 24.

The wireless GameCube controller for Switch 2 is available to pre-order

by admin May 23, 2025

The wireless GameCube controller that’s for use exclusively with the Nintendo Switch 2 can now be pre-ordered by those who have a Switch Online account. The controller costs $64.99, and is currently limited to one per account. For those who’ve bought one, you’ll get it on Switch 2’s launch date, which is June 5th. There’s no waiting room this time, unlike Nintendo’s previous rollout of preorders on May 13.

While GameCube controller support on the original Switch is nothing new (made possible thanks to the GameCube controller plug-to-USB adapter, or with newer third-party USB versions based on the original controller’s design), game support for the new wireless version is quite a bit more limited. It won’t be compatible with Switch backwards compatible titles that work on the Switch 2, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, or at least support hasn’t been confirmed yet. Instead, its use is limited to the GameCube games that are coming to Switch Online’s Expansion Pack tier, which at launch will include The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Soulcalibur 2, and more.

This GameCube controller has USB-C charging, and comes with the C button that’s used to summon GameChat features. Just a reminder: GameChat will be free to use for all Nintendo Switch 2 owners through March 31st, 2026.

Update, May 22nd: Preorders have opened again for the wireless GameCube controller, so we’ve updated this post with relevant information.
