Red Dead Redemption star teases he "cannot wait" for us to know about a big announcement that's coming "before Friday"

Red Dead Redemption star says he “possibly misled some people” but insists “exciting” news is still on the way

by admin June 21, 2025

Red Dead Redemption 2 actor said he “possibly misled some people” when he teased a Red Dead Redemption-related announcement was on the way.

Last week, John Marston himself – or, at least, the actor who brings him to life, Rob Wiethoff – was very excited indeed about an upcoming announcement, stressing that he was particularly excited as he livestreamed “this game”, the original Red Dead Redemption. His tease came just days after we heard another rumour that Red Dead Redemption 2 may be getting a next-gen update alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 port, and Roger Clark – who portrays Red Dead 2’s Arthur Morgan – backed up Wiethoff’s tease.

Now, however, Wiethoff has walked back his comments, reminding fans that he “do[es] not make announcements for Rockstar Games”, yet still insists he has something exciting to tell us.

“There’s one more thing I wanna say,” Wiethoff told his viewers on YouTube as he introduced a livestreamed gym buddy session on YouTube. “I don’t know how to say this exactly, I’ll just say the one thing, uh, that I need to say, and I think all of you recognise this and know this, anyway.

“I do have something I’m really excited about. I truly am. And I think you will be, too, I really do think so. But I possibly, uh, misled some people when I announced that I have something to announce that I can’t talk about right now. Just please recognise – and I know that you know this – but let me remind you, I guess: I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games. We all know that. I’m just reminding you. I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games. Rockstar Games makes announcements for Rockstar Games, and they don’t use me to do that. So please know that.

“And again, I still think that, uh, a lot of you are going to be really excited about this news. Absolutely. Also, I can’t share it with you yet. And I’m so sorry,” he finished. “But I truly am that excited. That’s all I’m gonna say about that right now.”

Shortly thereafter, fans noticed a main cast reunion was scheduled for the National Gaming Expo in Tampa, Florida, from 8th-10th August, leading some to think this could be the “announcement” he was excited about (thanks, Push Square). The line-up for that was announced several weeks back, though, which doesn’t quite track with Wiethoff’s timeline.

Whatever it is, the announcement has seemingly been delayed. Going by Wiethoff’s original tease, we should’ve finally found out by yesterday, 20th June. However, when asked by a fan today, 21st June, for an update, he replied: “It’s coming. Sorry for the delay. Ha! There are a lot of moving parts. We want to get this right. I think it will be clear why once we’re able to say what’s going on.

“I can assure you, I want to tell you as soon as possible. Ha! I love it. Let’s goooooooo!”

Persona 4 Remake Possibly Confirmed By Voice Actor From Original Game

by admin May 29, 2025

Given the success of Persona 3 Reload, a similar remake of Persona 4 would seem like an obvious layup, but developer Atlus and publisher Sega have not announced such a project. However, if a recent post on Bluesky by voice actor Yuri Lowenthal is anything to go by, it sounds like it’s a real thing.

Lowenthal voiced Yosuke Hanamura, one of the main characters in the original Persona 4. Today on Bluesky, Lowenthal posted the following: “And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.”

It doesn’t sound like Lowenthal is just speculating either. Considering he apparently received a “no” on returning, it seems like the Persona 4 remake is happening… just without him. This is a bummer for Lowenthal and fans of the original game, but not surprising. Atlus and Sega brought on a new voice cast for last year’s Persona 3 remake, Persona 3 Reload.

Game Informer has contacted Sega to ask about Lowenthal’s post and if the rumored Persona 4 remake is real. We will update this story if we learn more.

In the meantime, read Game Informer’s Persona 4 Golden review, then check out our thoughts on Persona 3 Reload. After that, find out what we want in an eventual Persona 6.

Are you sad about Lowenthal seemingly not returning to voice Yosuke? Let us know in the comments below!

China has held the world’s first robot martial arts tournament and I can’t think of a single thing that could possibly go wrong

The world’s first humanoid robot boxing match – YouTube

Watch On

We can surely all agree there’s absolutely nothing to be concerned about when it comes to robots and AI. So, it makes perfect sense to hold what’s claimed to be the world’s first martial arts tournament for robots. It’s all completely harmless fun and games, nothing that remotely brings to mind Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 gone rogue. Nope.

Anyway, the China Media Group World Robot Competition Mecha Fighting Series reportedly kicked off—literally—on May 25 in Hangzhou, China. According to Asia Times, the tournament included Unitree Robotics G1 robots weighing in at 35 kilograms and 132 centimeters tall.

The G1 is actually available to buy from $16,000, just in case you want your own killing machine, sorry friendly household bot, and it comes with 3D LIDAR and two-hour battery life. Inevitably, the robots run AI models trained on data capture of the movements of kickboxers for the tournament, but it’s not clear if that particular mapping is available to Unitree customers. We suspect not.

Each fight was made up of three rounds of two minutes each, with a punch scoring one point, and a kick three. Five points were deducted for falling over and 10 points if the bot failed to stand up within eight seconds.

Li Gaofeng, a researcher at Zhejiang University’s College of Control Science and Engineering, said, “combat fight is a difficult task for humanoid robots due to the intensive confrontation during the fight. Robots need to mind their movements and react to their opponent’s moves. All these requirements significantly challenge the robots’ algorithms, electronic parts and speed reducers.”

That said, the robots were not fully autonomous. Human operator teams controlled the robots, “in a human-machine collaborative way,” according to Chen Xiyun of Unitree Robotics.

If all this sounds like a robot zombie apocalypse in the making, a quick scan of the Youtube highlights paints a slightly different picture. While some of the moves are impressive, more often the bots are flailing around, punching at thin air or tripping over themselves. It’s more the stuff of comedy than nightmares.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Indeed, human overlords wielding some kind of remote controllers can be seen on the sidelines. So, it seems like the AI element is limited to the specifics of a given kick or punch in response to commands, very much like playing, ya know, a video game. We’re a long way off bots that can do their own fighting thing, if this tournament is anything to go by.

That said, this stuff is undeniably developing fast and probably wouldn’t have been possible at all, even with the existing caveats, a few years ago. Who’s to say these things won’t dancing around and then right out of the ring in a few years, fully capable of a deftly choreographed murderous rampage? What a time to be alive—for as long as you can outrun the robots…
