Honkai: Nexus Anima is MiHoYo Pokemon and you can register for the closed beta now

by admin August 29, 2025

The latest game in the grand HoYoverse has been unveiled. This morning, Chinese developer MiHoYo announced a new entry in the Honkai series – Honkai: Nexus Anima. The game was initially teased during Honkai: Star Rail’s anniversary concert back in May, but it’s been officially revealed today.

Nexus Anima is essentially MiHoYo’s take on the legendary and long-running Pokemon series. It blends creature-collecting with adventure game elements, and you may even be able to get your hands on it soon.

Honkai: Nexus Anima’s reveal trailer is more of a tone piece, and doesn’t show much of the gameplay. It does, however, introduce us to Anima – the creatures you’ll be befriending in the game.

The world of the game – Nexus – features “unseen bonds” between different, paired concepts, such as Love and Hate, Light and Dark, Life and Death and so on. As it often happens, however, the delicate balance that held them together has been shattered.

When the rupture occurred, the concepts were scattered across the land, with their powers taking the form of the creatures you’ll be collection, Anima. After you forge a bond with one, you’ll be able to unlock abilities based on the power that birthed it in the first place.

You play as a character capable of traversing various realms. Over the course of the story, you’ll encounter Anima with their own personalities and unique abilities. The press release says these abilities will help with both exploration and combat.

Speaking of which, we don’t quite know how combat is going to play out in Nexus Anima, but it does appear like it’s going to be similar to Pokemon’s turn-based combat, albeit from a different, Teamfight Tactics-like perspective. We won’t have to wait too long to see it, though, because the game’s first closed beta is on the horizon.

Registration for the Nexus Bond Test is live now and until September 12. It’s available for anyone on PC and iOS. Until we can see gameplay, it’s worth perusing the official site, as it does offer an early look at few Anima, as well as Animasters – the characters you’ll be playing as.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s New Expansion Features A Legendary Trio, Launches August 28

by admin August 25, 2025

Pokemon TCG Pocket is getting another new expansion on August 28. The update is called Secluded Springs, and it will highlight Pokemon from the Johto region, including a powerful legendary trio.

In Secluded Springs, players will encounter fan-favorite Pokemon as they were originally discovered in the Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver video games, including the powerful Legendary trio: Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. In addition to Johto, the expansion also features Pokemon from the Hoenn region. Some of the new cards can be seen in the trailer below.

According to the official Pokemon website, Suicune will appear on a new binder cover and display-board backdrop, and both will debut on Sunday, August 31. Players can also expect a variety of in-game events to pop up throughout September.

The first event for Secluded Springs will be the Zoroark Drop Event, which lets players compete in special solo battles to obtain Promo Pack A Series Vol. 12. The Zoroark Drop Event runs from September 3-13, and a Bonus Week event arrives on September 8 with missions that reward pack hourglasses and other items.

Later in the month, players can expect the Water-type Pokemon Mass Outbreak event. This event kicks off on September 26, with cards relating to water-type Pokemon appearing in rare picks and bonus picks.

Mega Evolutions will be coming to the game later this fall. While there’s no release date announced yet, three of the upcoming Mega Pokemon cards can be seen here.

McDonald’s delays One Piece Happy Meal promotion after Pokemon card chaos

by admin August 23, 2025

McDonald’s Japan has delayed its upcoming Happy Set toy promotion after complaints that its recent Pokemon card giveaway caused food waste and resale problems.

The company announced Thursday that its collaboration with the manga and anime series One Piece, originally scheduled to begin on August 29, has been postponed. Customers will instead receive toys from past Happy Set meals.

The decision comes after the Pokemon promotion earlier this month, which saw limited-edition cards given away with Happy Meals. The campaign led to long queues, bulk purchases, and images of discarded food as buyers sought to secure the collectible cards.

McDonald’s said many outlets ran out of cards on the first day despite the campaign being planned for three days. The company later apologized and pledged to review its promotional strategy after the cards began appearing for resale online, with some listed for tens of thousands of dollars.

One Piece collaboration put on hold

Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency has instructed McDonald’s to improve its sales practices and reduce food waste. The company has since introduced limits on the number of Happy Meals that can be purchased in a single order.

The One Piece promotion was intended to feature toys tied to the long-running franchise. The series began as a manga in 1997 before expanding into an anime two years later, with related games and merchandise becoming major hits in Japan.

McDonald’s has not confirmed when or if the One Piece Happy Set promotion will be rescheduled.
