Elden Ring Nightreign players have figured out how to guarantee you always reach max level by the time you fight your run’s Nightlord, but unfortunately it’s super boring

I’ve got a few dozen Elden Ring Nightreign expeditions on the books, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone when I say they haven’t all been successes. Many of those failures have come agonizingly close to victory, where my team’s Nightlord target survived by only a sliver of health—a sliver it probably wouldn’t have had if we’d entered the arena with one or two more levels.

Luckily, Nightreign players on Reddit have found a method for ensuring you’re always at max level when you face off with your run’s final boss. Unfortunately, it’s—well—pretty boring.

The trick is simple: just don’t jump in the goo.

Let me explain. The idea is that you run through your expedition as normal until you’ve killed the boss at the end of Day 2. However, once the pile of ethereal goop appears as your gateway to the Spirit Shelter where you’re intended to do your final Nightlord prep, don’t jump in.

If you open your map, you’ll see why. Once the Day 2 boss dies, all the Sites of Grace on the map become active. That means, if you intentionally avoid ascending to boss fight heaven, you and your team can run around the map farming enemies, providing enough runes to hit max level.

Now, there is a complication. The battle royale-style circle of hellish, lethal fire is still locked around where you fought the Day 2 boss, so you will be taking tick damage while you’re running around grinding out levels. Thankfully, it’s not much of an issue: Just kill enemies until you run out of flasks and die, and then you can simply run back from the nearest Grace, pick your runes back up, and carry on—collecting your runes after death gives you enough to reclaim your lost level, after all.

The real problem is that this is extremely tedious. It’s easy to imagine a nightmare world in which, very soon, randoms online will get irritated if you aren’t joining them to grind out a few more levels in the hellfire.

It’s hard to say how likely it is that FromSoft will patch this. On one hand, it’s against the spirit of Nightreign’s whole deal—why have the time pressure of the battle royale circle if you can just ignore it at the end? On the other, doing it is kinda miserable. Time will tell.

If you’re willing to top off your levels with this method, you might want to do it sooner than later. But I’d recommend saving it for when you’re playing with a full party—for all our sakes.

I’m nervous. We missed two churches and lost a level in the mines. The Gaping Jaw Nightlord is weak to poison but no poison weapons spawned on the map. I spent my final runes on hitting level 12. We’re cooked. Oh my god why are we watching the final cutscene before the boss encounter AGAIN.

Not skipping these is the equivalent of icing the Nightfarer. Some Elden Ring Nightreign players might like the chill pre-scripted break before the reckoning but I can’t stand it. I’ve seen these generic cinematics play out dozens of times now. Some players have gone 10, 20, even 30 expeditions before their first Nightlord victory. That is nearly 10 minutes—10 minutes!—that could be spent doing literally anything else.

Look at this background! It’s gorgeous. Top marks to FromSoftware’s artists. I never need to see it again.

Look, I get it. Nightreign is intense. There’s a ton of esoteric information to fill your brain with, including loads of secret details, items, and mechanics the game never bothers to explain. It’s hard to remember to skip the beginning and ending intros. After 40 minutes of tense dodging, parrying, and cooldown management, it’s nice to take a moment, catch your breath, and watch Nightreign play itself. But if your teammates are spamming the skip button and you are off in lala land or scrolling the TikTok memes your buddy sent you days ago like that one about how guys only want one thing and it’s to hear the podracing engines as they whiz by sandy ridges on Tatooine, then you might be in the wrong matchmaking queue.

FromSoftware games are full of tests. Hardcore fans pride themselves on rising to the challenge when others would just give up. Debate after debate recirculates about what might be lost if Elden Ring and other Soulsborne games had difficulty sliders. Well, now I’m asking what’s gained by even giving players the option not to skip the Nightreign cutscenes? How many more loading screens must be delayed to pamper those unwilling to keep racing through the game even when the timed blue circle of death can no longer hurt you.

Players were worried that Nightreign would be a mess without voice chat. That playing with randos would lead to constant confusion and frustration. To my delightful surprise this has not been the case. Most players get the assignment. And those who don’t should be helped along by their more seasoned companions. Which is what I’m doing now. Please, for the love of the Erdtree, press the start button. Skip the cutscene. Let me rush to my downfall rather than being forced to contemplate its inevitability for an extra 15 seconds.

This Russian fishing sim is bizarrely popular on Steam but players can’t decide if they love or hate it, perhaps because of the $2000 microtransaction

I hadn’t heard of Russian Fishing 4 until PCG’s Wes Fenlon noticed it was weirdly popular on Steam. The game’s been available since 2018, launching on Steam in November 2021, and since then it’s steadily built a considerable audience over time: per SteamDB’s three year charts, it was pulling in around 7,000 concurrent players after launch, and three years later averages just over 20,000 concurrent players every day.

There are currently 21,500 people playing Russian Fishing 4, and nine days ago it hit its all-time peak of 25,352 players. Bear in mind it’s also available directly from the developer, so Steam’s only a portion of the playerbase, and we’re talking about one very popular fishing game.

The obvious question is why, and one straightforward and boring answer is that, with some very big caveats, Russian Fishing 4 is a pretty great fishing simulation. I downloaded it on Steam this morning and played through the tutorial before going for a spot of proper fishing, and the game has a lovely peaceful atmosphere, relatively straightforward mechanics, and for the most part looks great.

One especially nice touch is that, while you’re fishing away, other players’ catches pop up in realtime in the lower left of the screen. This does inspire some angling envy, but it’s a nice distraction while you’re waiting for a bite.

I have to say that I did only seem to catch carp and roaches, but that may just be because I’m fishing at a low level. And here comes the big caveat, and one of the reasons Russian Fishing 4 and its community is quite interesting: this is one of those free-to-play games that seriously tries to nickel-and-dime you.

The pace of progression here is monotonously slow, and the grind is absolutely brutal. You sell the fish you catch to (eventually) afford better equipment to catch bigger fish, and level up at a snail’s pace (which is annoying because you can’t visit certain spots in the game to fish unless you’re a particular level). The actual fishing is fun: the gameplay loop built around it is why “free-to-play” makes so many players groan.

But naturally help is at hand. Russian Fishing 4 is monetised by a Premium membership tier, which basically makes the game work properly. Among other things, Premium grants a 100% bonus to experience with every fish caught, increases the chance of your crafting and fishing skills improving, and unlocks a bunch of other basic functionality that makes the game much more pleasant to play.

Appropriately enough, there’s a catch. Premium membership is pretty expensive: three days of it will set you back $3.50, while a month is $15. I was also amazed that the options kept getting larger and larger. 90 days for $40? OK. 360 days for $130? You do you.

But then you see the “lifetime subscription” and Russian Fishing 4 just straight-up asks for $2,000. Two grand! I wonder if it’ll carry over to Russian Fishing 5 (answer: nyet).

This side of Russian Fishing 4 is why, despite being a good fishing sim and clearly attracting a lot of would-be anglers, the Steam reviews sit firmly on “mixed” and there’s two through-lines to nearly all the negative ones. They’re either about the ponderous grind and overbearing monetisation, or they’re from Chinese players.

I don’t know why, but recently Chinese players seem to have taken against Russian Fishing 4 in a big way. The reasons that their reviews give are slightly mixed, but it’s a cocktail of being banned for cheating (erroneously, they claim), an apparent lack of fish, and that old favourite, “greedy devs.”

“To this day I don’t understand what the cheating programme is, and he never explained it when I consulted the official, he was very arrogant,” writes Mage (via machine translation). “If you want to play this game, please keep your computer like a newborn, do not try any uncommon programmes. This is the first time in my gaming career that I have been banned, thank you for all the nagging.”

“I thought it was interesting at first, but now I think this game is a complete waste of my time,” says QMX (via machine translation). “Are there any fish in this lake? I stand there all day and never catch any fish. The missions are disgusting and pure torture.”

Finally,, I had to include this review from a Russian comrade, because it just made me wonder what on Earth happened while they were playing:

“After this shit,” says Sanyapyts, “friends become bastards.”

Russian Fishing 4 is an odd contemporary phenomenon. There’s no doubt it’s a good game, and many of the positive reviews reckon it’s the best fishing sim on the market even with the monetisation. But that monetisation is so poorly implemented from the player perspective that it does seem to ultimately turn people off, and make them resent the game: it’s really notable how many of the negative reviews have several hundred hours on record.

Not that this is likely to bother the developers too much: Russian Fishing 4 is clearly a big success and, even seven years after release, it is continuing to attract and hold the attention of a huge audience. I probably won’t return to it—more of a Get Bass man—but there are plenty who do. And hey, if the monetisation bothers you that much? Just check down the side of the couch for a spare two grand.

Fortnite gives players Darth Vader AI tech to build talking NPCs

Epic just gave Fortnite creators the same AI tech that powered Darth Vader’s controversial debut.

When Fortnite’s Darth Vader started talking, things went downhill fast. The AI-powered NPC voiced with permission from James Earl Jones’ estate, cursed, glitched, and set off alarms. Union actors cried foul. SAG-AFTRA filed a complaint. And suddenly, Epic was at the center of a digital rights battle.

However, during the State of Unreal showcase, Epic had a different narrative, claiming the Darth Vader AI NPC is an example of Fortnite and Disney “responsibly embracing emerging technologies.”

So now they’re letting players do it too.

Fortnite will let you create your own AI NPC

During the showcase, Epic dropped the mic: the AI tools behind Vader will soon be in players’ hands.

A live demo showed how creators can build their own AI-powered characters with personalities, voices, responses, and even game-changing behaviors using a device called “Persona” in UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite).

The star of the demo is an AI-powered NPC, Mr. Buttons, a cosmic weirdo who is clearly based off of Portal’s Wheatley. His one goal was to convince players to press a glowing red button.

“What brings you to this spectacular catwalk, my friend?” Mr. Buttons asked, oozing surreal charm.

The player hesitated. “What does the button do?”

“A gateway to glory… a symphony of – well, you get the idea,” replied Buttons, dodging the question.

It wasn’t scripted. The conversation ran live, powered by a large language model generating unscripted, reactive dialogue in real-time. Just 20 lines built Mr. Buttons.

The AI didn’t just talk, it changed gameplay too. Pressing the button triggered a cascade of effects designed by the creator. And it wasn’t all chaos.

Epic emphasized that devs can tightly control NPC personality, tone, and story direction through editable “facts” and prompts in code.

They pitched it as storytelling evolution. “As game developers, our job is to entertain players, and AI is ultimately a tool to make games more fun and immersive,” they said during the demo. “It enables infinite possibilities for two-way dialogue, just like we saw with Darth Vader.”

In Fortnite’s future, the lines between player and playwright are gone. And your NPC might just insult you, then beg you to blow up the map.

Duo Expeditions will officially come to Elden Ring Nightreign, as the game passes 3.5 million players

Elden Ring Nightreign launched missing many, many features most of us expect in modern multiplayer games. The co-op action RPG is designed for three players, and that’s about the only optimal way to play it.

There’s no option for Duos, and though you can start the game’s Expeditions (runs) as a solo player, you’re not going to have a fun time. But, FromSoftware is seemingly listening, and the developer just announced some major news.

Earlier today, the FromSoftware revealed (via the official Elden Ring Twitter account) that the game has surpassed 3.5 million players. The wording of the tweet does not specify whether those were actual sales or simply just player numbers.

Seeing as Nightreign has been doing very well on Steam – making it FromSoft’s second-biggest launch ever, 3.5 million copies sounds very plausible when you keep in mind other platforms, too.

Alongside this news, the developer also shared some early details about a number of features currently in the works, which will arrive in the game at various points in the future. Firstly: Duos. Yes, the ability to play Nightreign with just one other player – something modders are already working on making possible – is being worked on.

The announcement did not say when we can expect Duo Expeditions to arrive, offering nothing beyond “at a later date” as the release target. This is the studio’s first official acknowledgement of the desire for a Duos mode, which is good to see.

The game’s most recent patch, which arrived yesterday, made things a little less frustrating for solo players – even if the game remains very much not designed for solos. More tweaks in that vein are in the works, too.

Something else you can expect to see later this month are “enhanced fights against existing Nightlords,” which is just the type of vague language FromSoft loves to use. There’s also the previously-announced DLC, which is set to arrive later in the year.

Dune: Awakening will have private servers at launch where players can disable taxes and enable ‘free for all’ PvP

Dune: Awakening is out in three days (for deluxe and ultimate edition pre-purchasers) but here’s a last minute surprise: the survival MMO will support private servers. Funcom announced today that for Dune: Awakening “rentable private servers will be available from head start launch on June 5th!”

It’s worth noting you won’t be able to go hog wild with your private server settings as you might in a survival game like Ark, where you can change things like XP multipliers or item durability—though one feature, according to Funcom, will allow private servers to enable “free-for-all PvP.” More on that below.

In Dune: Awakening, each server is part of a “world” that contains other servers and shares common areas like trading posts, settlements, and the endgame “deep desert” zone. “This allows us to retain a neighborhood-like feel to the Hagga Basin and provide persistent, freeform building, and other server-demanding mechanics you typically see in survival games,” says Funcom.

“We combine this with the large-scale multiplayer mechanics you would expect to find in MMOs where hundreds of players meet each other in social hubs and the Deep Desert to engage in social activities, trade, conflict, and more.”

Rather than wall off private servers completely from the rest of the community, “each private server in Dune: Awakening also belongs to a World consisting of several other private servers rented by other players,” Funcom says.

Each private server can support “40+ players” and a single world can contain “several hundred concurrent players, all who “share the same social hubs and a massive, constantly changing Deep Desert where players will meet to both explore and engage in conflict over spice.”

So, to be clear, private server players won’t mix with official server players at all, only players on other private servers.

Still, to prevent players on a private server from having a massive advantage when mingling and fighting with other private server players in the same world, that limits the customization options to a few features like PvP, taxes, and sandstorms.

Here are the features Funcom says private servers will be able to adjust.

  • Security Zones: you can disable security zones entirely, making all parts of Hagga Basin PvP enabled, or you can choose to have pockets of PvP like on official servers
  • Taxation: you can disable taxation on your server
  • Sandstorms: you can disable sandstorms, making them not appear on your server.

That’s not a whole lot to get excited about, but it’s good news for people who want to be able to fight other players right from the get-go in Hagga Basin, and the idea of not paying your Dune taxes to the Emperor is a nice one. Sandstorms, at least in the early game, aren’t that big of a deal: you just have to take cover for about 30 seconds as they pass through the server.

There won’t be an admin control panel or the ability to transfer characters between servers, though Funcom says it “will evaluate this functionality post-launch.” However, you can visit other private servers and even claim land on them (if you have the server password), something you can’t do while visiting official servers.

If you’re interested in renting a Dune: Awakening private server, Funcom says they’re available through Gportal, Nitrado, and xRealm. Pricing and amount of player slots varies pretty widely between all three services.

Elden Ring Nightreign patch to help out solo players arrives early, but those changes aren’t massive

Elden Ring Nightreign servers are back online following brief maintenance earlier today. During that downtime, FromSoftware rolled out the first major-ish post-launch patch for the game, which does come with a welcome addition for solo players.

Update 1.01.1 is now available on all platforms, so let’s dig into the details.

Shortly after Nightreign launched, players complained about the lack of any mechanic to help out solo players. Yes, the game is intended to be played in groups of three, but it didn’t also need to be extra hostile to solo players.

FromSoftware quickly promised to make a few changes in the next major patch, which is arriving this week. The good news, however, is that some of the changes initially planned for update 1.02 have now made it into the game with today’s patch, 1.01.1.

This one brings two key changes that only go in effect when you play the game solo. First, solo players now have one free revival, once per night boss fight, active at all times. This effect previously needed to be earned, which remains the case for co-op Expeditions. The patch also boosted rune acquisition for solo players, which is likely intended to compensate for the lack of co-op teammates, not to mention make the levelling process a bit faster.

For everyone else, the patch increased the number of high-rarity Relics that can be earned upon reaching Day 3 during any given Expedition, which should make that final fight a little more tolerable. By the same token, players are now a lot more likely to get high-rarity Relics from Scenic Flat stones. Said stones can be bought at the Small Jar Bazaar, of course.

Outside of the balance tweaks and new-ish features, patch 1.01.1 also comes with a host of bug fixes. Chiefly, it adjusts the camera when activating Wings of Salvation, the Guardian’s Ultimate, so you’re less likely to see some of the headache-inducing jitters that could occur in certain situations.

There are also fixes targeting several skills whose effects would not be triggered when they should, and others whose values were not displayed correctly. You can read on below for all the bug fixes in 1.01.1.

Bug Fixes

  • Adjusted camera behavior when activating the Guardian’s Ultimate Art, “Wings of Salvation.”
  • Fixed a bug in the Duchess’s Character Skill “Restage” where Status Ailments would not trigger when built up from other players’ attacks.
  • Fixed a bug where some attacks of Raider with Greataxe and Great Hammer weapon types had higher damage than intended.
  • Fixed a bug where some “Those Who Live in Death “ enemies would revive when defeated with the “Sacred Blade” skill.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Bleeding” Status Ailment would not build up when the Skill “Bloody Slash” hit an enemy.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Ghostflame Ignition” attack would not occur under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug where the status ailment “Frostbite” would not build up when the light wave released by a strong attack hit an enemy while the “Moonlight Greatsword” skill was active.
  • Fixed a bug where the speed of arrows fired with the “Mighty Shot” and “Enchanted Shot” skills was slower than expected.
  • Fixed a bug where the attack range of the magic spell “Rock Sling” was longer than expected when using it with a staff equipped in the left hand.
  • Fixed a bug where the effect of reducing the maximum HP of enemies when the incantation “Black Blade” hit them was not activated.
  • Fixed a bug where the Passive Effect “Successive Attacks Negate Damage” would stack when successive attacks were made while the Effect was active.
  • Fixed a bug where some Passive Effects were not displaying their effects at the correct values.
  • Fixed a bug where the Relic Special Effect “[Guardian] Become the target of enemy aggression when ability is activated” would not activate under certain situations.
  • Fixed a bug where certain effects were not being applied to Relics obtained from Expedition Rewards or purchased from the Small Jar Bazaar.
  • Fixed a bug where items that could be obtained upon completing a Remembrance in the Remembrance world when the scenario conditions were met could not be obtained when changing characters and concluding a Remembrance.
  • Fixed bugs in the behavior and specifications of certain attacks and actions of specific enemies.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to become unstable under certain conditions during battles with specific enemies.
  • Fixed a bug in the graphics rendering during battles with specific enemies.
  • Fixed some incorrect information in the staff credits.
  • Fixed some text.
  • Fixed a bug where some sound effects were not playing correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Exit Remembrance” effect was not displayed during a “Wylder” Remembrance on some platforms.
  • Fixed a bug where the HUD was not displayed on some platforms.
  • Fixed a bug where the game would crash under certain circumstances on some platforms.
  • Fixed a bug where Expeditions and reconnecting to sessions would fail under certain circumstances on some platforms.
  • Fixed a bug where background music would not play properly under certain circumstances on some platforms.

Steam-only Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where some graphics were not rendered correctly when “Low” was selected in “Quality Settings” under “Graphics.”
  • Fixed a bug where the Climb up action sometimes failed when using the keyboard.
  • Fixed a bug where the Climb up action was difficult to perform when using a gamepad.

Elden Ring Nightreign is now easier for solo players

FromSoftware has patched Elden Ring Nightreign to make it easier for solo players.

The studio stated last week it would be making adjustments. Now, after a period of server downtime this morning, the update has been made.

Specifically, the new patch adds an effect to automatically revive solo players once when facing a Nightlord, plus the amount of runes gained has been increased.

In addition, FromSoftware has made two general balance adjustments. Firstly, there’s an increased number of high-rarity Relics obtained when players reach the final day of an expedition.

Secondly, there’s an increased probability of obtaining high-rarity Relics when purchasing Scenic Flat stones from the Small Jar Bazaar. These provide a random Relic when bought, but they’re usually of a low level.

Other changes include adjusted camera when activated the Guardian’s Ultimate Art, as well a number of bug fixes. Now, the Duchess’s Restage skill will properly trigger status ailments from other players’ attacks, as well as minor tweaks.

Some Steam-only bugs have also been fixed, improving the climb action and ensuring graphics are rendered correctly on the Low visual setting. The studio previously warned in its day one patch notes that some PC configurations using the latest graphics cards may experience frame rate drops – it appears this is yet to be fully addressed.

Nighreign is a multiplayer-focused spin-off to Elden Ring, but has been criticised for its unbalanced solo play.

After its release, FromSoftware acknowledged issues with matchmaking, particularly on PlayStation.

The studio also stated a two-player mode may be added in future, but one fan has already made a PC mod with plans to expand it in future.

Elden Ring Nightreign is here, and after selling 2 million copies in its first day and becoming developer FromSoftware’s second-biggest launch on Steam, the dust is starting to settle, giving rise to thousands of player impressions.

This is the studio’s first multiplayer, co-op only title, so there were bound to be teething issues, but what many didn’t count on is just how outdated – and often confusing – many aspects of the game are.

This all started with the whole discussion about the lack of single-player, as well as duos support. In the first instance, FromSoftware is actually going to implement a few changes in a patch set to arrive this week that should make things a bit more manageable for solo players. Though no official duos support has been announced, modders already have solutions.

Away from all that, playing the game the way it was intended exposes a host of problems players haven’t had to contend with in years, not to mention a lot of missing features that have become the standard in the last decade in online games.

Each character in the game has their own quest, which players need to do if they want to grow that particular character. Players quickly discovered, however, that when you start a quest, you’re placed into a matchmaking pool with other players who are also doing their quests.

This sounds good in theory, but the problem is that matchmaking takes a lot longer when you want the next Expedition to be the one where you do your character quest. The game does not communicate this clearly to players, but even in the run itself, it’s hard for other players on the team to realise that one team has a quest that they’re going for.

You can always try to attempt those quest runs solo, but as we’ve established, Nightreign is not kind to solo players. There’s also an issue that players have run into where they’d sometimes finish the quest, but not get the quest item needed to advance to the next step. The running theory is that when multiple members of the team want the same item, only one of them will be able to get it.

Players also have various problems with the lack of basic features most modern multiplayer games offer. There’s no option to abandon a run as a full team, for instance. No way to vote to end a run early, or really any way to leave outside of, well, quitting.

Unfortunately, quitting before the Expedition is finished comes with its own penalties, something that was likely added as a way to disincentivise players from dropping out and abandoning their teammates.

Even setting aside the fact that, in this style of roguelite game, bad runs are inevitable, there’s also the issue of the way the game announces server-wide maintenance – or more accurately, how it does not.

The start screen does not currently indicate when maintenance is about to start in order to warn players not to jump into an Expedition. While the game will flash that warning 10 minutes ahead of time for players, it only shows up fpr those already in the middle of a run, meaning they either need to get as much as they can done, or leave. And, as we just explained, there is no option to gracefully end the run.

These and a few others are all issues that really hamper the experience for many, especially those used to more modern, non-FromSoft games. Helldivers 2 Players Score Biggest Victory Yet But At What Cost

“The President of Super Earth has been killed in action by the Illuminate during the fall of Prosperity City.” That was the message that greeted Helldivers 2 players when they logged on last night in one last bid to repel their invading squid-like foes. Some truthers think the hit was inside job. When the dust settled Friday morning, the battle to save Super Earth was over and players had succeeded in winning the extraction shooter’s biggest showdown since it launched. Pus they got a new battle station to celebrate.

“The devastation wrought upon our home is immense,” read the latest in-game dispatch from Arrowhead Game Studios. “Only two Mega Cities remain standing: Prosperity City and Equality-on-Sea. The remainder have been vacated by the enemy, having suffered catastrophic damage at their hands.” New Major Orders are still pending, but in the meantime players get to vote on where to move the new DSS battle station that aided in the fight, and that provides extra military bonuses to Helldivers fighting on whatever planet it orbits.

For anyone who missed the last two weeks, a brief series of entries on the Galactic Map recaps the events from the Illuminate’s arrival and torching of Mars and other planets, all the way through players’ epic last stand to protect Equality-on-Sea (Helldivers’ version of Shanghai). A lot of creative military tactics were improvised and deployed to take down the massive invading Leviathan ships, and a wave of negative Steam reviews, purportedly from Chinese players angry, due to a potential mistranslation, about why they couldn’t seem to fully liberate Equality-on-Sea, appears to have subsided.

What happens next is anyone’s guess. Arrowhead Game Studios might take some time before kicking off whatever it has planned to let players catch their breath. Maybe the development team is lining up a revenge campaign, or maybe there’s still another shoe to drop and Super Earth isn’t quite in the clear after all. A new president? In this economy? Maybe they’re just an Illuminate plant after all, ready to control Super Earth from within. The beauty of Helldivers 2‘s fascist space satire is that nothing is ever quite out of the question.

May kicked off one of Helldivers 2‘s biggest balance patches and content updates in some time, including a new Warbond battle pass with additional melee weapons and the ability to level up and customize most of the shooter’s guns. I wouldn’t bet on any other big updates anytime soon. That said, Summer Game Fest is just around the corner and Arrowhead used host Geoff Keighley’s last big gaming showcase to announce the addition of the Illuminate to the fray. Who knows what’s in store for the second half of Helldivers 2‘s second year?
