Rocky Horror Picture Show Celebrates 50 Years With A Steelbook Blu-ray Release

The iconic Rocky Horror Picture Show is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with an all-new The Rocky Horror Picture Show 50th Anniversary Collectible Steelbook Edition 4K Blu-ray. This new edition marks the first time the cult-classic musical horror-comedy film has been released in 4K. Along with a collectible steel case featuring new cover art, the two-disc set also features a long list of bonus materials, including several new cuts of the movie in 4K. The Rocky Horror Picture Show 50th Anniversary Steelbook 4K Blu-ray launches October 7, and preorders are available for $40 at Amazon.

This two-disc 50th anniversary edition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show includes the movie in 4K for the first time, with support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound and Dolby Vision HDR. It also comes with standard Blu-ray and digital copies of the film. You’ll also get bonus features spread across both 4K Blu-ray and traditional Blu-ray discs, including a karaoke-style sing-along cut, an audio commentary featuring screenwriter and actor Richard O’Brien and actress Patricia Quinn, deleted scenes, and more. Preordering at Walmart and Amazon means you won’t be charged until the steelbook ships, and you’ll be eligible for any price drops between now and when the steelbook 4K Blu-ray launches on October 7.

Along with the film and collectible steelbook case, the new 50th Anniversary Edition 4K Blu-ray release includes a long list of bonus materials. While much of the content–such as deleted scenes and alternate takes–is pulled from previous Blu-ray and DVD releases (which are currently out of print), this new version will also include several new commentary and sing-along tracks that are watchable with the new 4K remaster. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a film adaptation of Richard O’Brien’s 1973 stage musical. It follows a newly engaged couple, Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon), whose car breaks down in the remote countryside. The pair end up at a strange party held at a castle owned by the mysterious Dr. Frank-N-Furter–played by Tim Curry in his debut on-screen role. It’s a wild movie that blends comedy, horror, and musical genres into a unique film, earning a cult following when it premiered in 1975 that persists to this day.

Plenty of other 4K Blu-rays are launching in the Fall months, including several new horror releases dropping in time for Halloween. These include some of the year’s biggest horror movies like 28 Years Later, which launches on Blu-ray on September 23 and has a steelbook edition 4K Blu-ray available to preorder for $48.49. Clown in a Cornfield is getting a steelbook release a week earlier on September 16, while other 2025 releases like Sinners and Bring Her Back are available now. You can also grab new steelbook 4K Blu-rays of older slashers like Halloween (2018), The Devil’s Rejects, or I Know What You Did Last Summer. Escape from Tarkov is coming to Steam now its full release is imminent, as confirmed by a picture of a random bloke ironing

Escape from Tarkov is finally emerging from an early access period that will have lasted nearly a decade, when its full release on November 15th rolls around, and you’ll soon be able to grab it on Steam.

Yep, it’s taken yeaaaaarrrssss. Tarkov’s initial alpha release came on August 4th, 2016, just a few days before No Man’s Sky arrived for the first time, and just after a little game called Stardew Valley dropped. Think about what you were doing back then. I was a teenager, still far from the job-having husk I’ve since morphed into.

Anyway, old feeling aside, Tarkov’s Steam page looks like it’ll drop any day now, after Battlestate Games studio head Nikita Buyanov decided to tweet some things. First there was a gif of an old bloke holding a steaming iron on August 30th, which everyone took as a tease rather than an endorsement for getting the creases out of your favourite top from the FPS developerman. Said FPS developerman was also, er, rather forthright in his reply to someone who responded to that post with accusations of scamming.

Then, the next day, Buyanov dispensed with the pagentry. “Yes! The page on Steam will be available soon. All the details later,” he posted, alongside a picture of said Steam page that’d be easier to dissect if it didn’t have a great big Steam logo slapped on top of it. You know, just in case you don’t know what a Steam page looks like, or had missed him saying that’s where Tarkov’s heading.

Will existing players who want to switch to Steam have to buy it again and start from scratch? That’s what folks in Buyanov’s replies wondered, and he doesn’t look to have provided an answer. Don’t worry, I’m sure everything’ll work out ok.

If it’s been a while since you’ve escaped to Tarkov, cheaters have remained an issue in it over recent years, but it’s still on our top survival games list. Also here’s an excerpt from an article about Craig Pearson hunting down some toilet roll in it:

I stalked the corridors, cracking doors and checking rooms, closing them as I went, because I was taught to be respectful even during an apocalypse. I found piles of crap and burnt-out detritus, but no loo roll. When I discovered a body pile on the roof it was full of worthless military doodads. This is a world with more shotguns than sponge soft shitter sheets.

Here’s hoping he’s located some loo paper in the years since 2020.

2025 WNBA playoff picture: How five teams can clinch spots

Sixteen days left in the WNBA regular season. Two playoff berths secured. Three teams eliminated. The 2025 WNBA playoff picture is taking shape.

The top teams in the league — the Minnesota Lynx, Atlanta Dream, Las Vegas Aces, Phoenix Mercury and New York Liberty — are fighting for playoff seeding and home-court advantage. But elsewhere in the WNBA standings, five teams, all within four games of each other, are realistically vying for the final three spots.

If the playoffs started Tuesday, the Seattle Storm (10.5 games behind the league-leading Lynx), Golden State Valkyries (11) and Indiana Fever (11) would be the sixth through eighth seeds in the playoffs, with the Los Angeles Sparks (12) and Washington Mystics (14.5) narrowly missing the cut.

ESPN breaks down what you need to know about each of these playoff hopefuls and their remaining path to clinching a spot in the postseason.

Chance to make the playoffs: 95.1% (per ESPN’s WNBA BPI)

Playoff outlook: Seattle has largely been defined by its inconsistencies this season, and a six-game losing streak to start August — a stretch in which each game was decided by 10 points or fewer and the team fell below .500 — put the Storm in danger of falling out of the playoff picture. But the team has recovered with four wins in its past five games, including its victory over Washington punctuated by Nneka Ogwumike’s buzzer beater.

At No. 6 in the standings, the Storm might look safe for now. But they will want to avoid dropping further and landing a matchup against the likes of the Lynx or red-hot Aces to have a better chance to win their first playoff series since 2022. The Storm have notably been better on the road (12-8) than at home (8-10), a trend they’ll look to buck when they close the season with four consecutive contests at Climate Pledge Arena.

Pivotal player: Dominique Malonga has been a bright spot in Seattle’s up-and-down season. The 19-year-old has emerged as an indispensable part of the Storm’s rotation in recent weeks, with three 20-point performances and three double-doubles in August. Malonga might have one of the highest ceilings of anyone in the league.

The team has prided itself on its resolve in the face of adversity but has won only two games (vs. Chicago and Connecticut in overtime) since Aug. 5 — begging the question of whether the Fever might be reaching a breaking point.

New additions Odyssey Sims, Shey Peddy and Aerial Powers can’t entirely make up for the losses of Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham (and continued absence of Clark), but they bring veteran experience that could be valuable in these sorts of high-stakes situations.

Not helping matters: Indiana’s upcoming schedule isn’t very forgiving, with nearly all of the Fever’s remaining games against teams that are fighting for either a postseason berth or seeding.

Pivotal player: Clark hasn’t played since July 15 but participated in shootaround Sunday morning, her first time working out with the team in some capacity during her extended absence. How quickly will Indiana be able to get her back into the mix, and how will she look once she’s back on the floor? And might a continued slide in the standings mean her return ends up being too little, too late?

What does road ahead for Fever look like without Caitlin Clark?

Playoff outlook: The Valkyries have far surpassed preseason expectations, already setting a WNBA record for the most wins by an expansion team in their inaugural season when they notched No. 18 earlier this month. Now they’re within reach of becoming the first WNBA expansion franchise to make the playoffs in its debut season. All the more remarkable is that the Valkyries have managed to stay afloat while dealing with a host of injuries, particularly after losing All-Star Kayla Thornton (knee) for the rest of the year.

Golden State has led the league in attendance this summer and will look to capitalize on its home-court advantage when it hosts five straight contests over the next two weeks before ending the regular season on the road.

Pivotal player: Veronica Burton has been a revelation for the Valkyries, emerging as a leading candidate for WNBA Most Improved Player after more limited roles in previous stops in Dallas and Connecticut. She leads active Golden State players in scoring, assists and steals, tasked with even more after Thornton went down with her injury. But she has shined with at least 24 points in three of the past six games and a 24-point, 14-assist, zero-turnover performance last week. She’ll have to continue her stellar two-way play, especially her productivity on the offensive end, for the Valkyries to make more history in the coming weeks.

Playoff outlook: The new-look Sparks have been clear about their goal all year: make the playoffs. Not only has Los Angeles missed the postseason each year since 2020, but after trading away its No. 2 pick for Kelsey Plum, returning to the playoffs in 2025 became even more paramount. L.A. picked up steam around the All-Star break, winning eight of nine games in one stretch. But since then, the Sparks have alternated wins and losses, preventing them from achieving a better position in the standings.

Of all the teams left jockeying for the final few playoff berths, the Sparks have the most games remaining (nine), including six in the final 11 days of the regular season. And to stay in the hunt, they’ll have to do what Kelsey Plum commanded of them in the moments following their thrilling win over Dallas last week: “Play some f—ing defense.”

Pivotal player: Five or six players can reach double figures in the Sparks’ high-octane offense, but Rickea Jackson has been particularly crucial in this recent surge for Los Angeles. Leading up to the Sparks’ hot streak in mid-July, she averaged 12.1 points per game. That’s up to 17.3 PPG in the 15 games since. The Sparks’ best bet of going on a run hinges on them piling on the scoring against their opponents, and Jackson plays a huge role there.

Playoff outlook: The Mystics are one of the pleasant surprises of the WNBA season behind the rookie All-Star tandem of Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen. But after sending Brittney Sykes to Seattle before the trade deadline, it appears they’ll miss the playoffs. They’ve dropped in the standings after losing nine of their past 12 (including four straight) and are sitting 3.5 games out of eighth place with just six games remaining. But in Year 2 of its rebuild, Washington might be content with missing the postseason and landing back in the lottery.

Pivotal players: Citron and Iriafen are the go-to players in D.C., but Shakira Austin is another increasingly important top option, shining recently with a 30-point (on 67% shooting), 5-rebound, 4-block game. The Mystics will need those three firing on all cylinders if they want to make a late playoff push and pass the likes of Indiana and L.A. in the standings.

Samsung 115-inch micro-RGB TV first look

I saw Samsung’s $30,000, 115-inch micro-RGB TV, and its vivid picture outshines mini-LED TVs

Samsung’s massive, in both price and size, micro-RGB TV is barely two weeks old, but it’s making waves for those two factors as well as the promised visual quality. The 115-inch Micro RGB Samsung Vision AI Smart TV – yes, a long formal product name for sure – is out in Korea right now for 44.9 million KRW and will soon be up for order in the United States at $29,999 with more markets to follow.

I had the chance to check one out in person at Samsung’s new headquarters in New Jersey. While it wasn’t a formal testing session, it was clear from my first look that Samsung’s micro-RGB tech here is creating immersion on a grand scale with picture quality to rival even the best OLED TVs.

I also had the chance to view it after seeing the similarly sized and priced, but notably different 115” Class Samsung QN90F Neo QLED 4K TV. And while that TV looks sharp and bright, the new micro-RGB TV’s picture is much more controlled and realistic. Samsung even created a custom Micro RGB AI Engine to handle visuals in the $30,000 TV, specifically for the likes of upscaling and enhancing colors.

The tech here is reflected in the name of the product category – micro-RGB TV – and it’s the first consumer release from Samsung. It uses micro-scale LEDs for the TV’s backlight, which is comprised of individual, quite tiny red, green, and blue modules. That’s the key difference here – like the best mini-LED TVs, it still uses the core principles of LCD technology, but swaps white or blue backlighting for red, green, and blue micro-scale LEDs that can be more accurately controlled. All, of course, in a quest to deliver the best picture quality.

So while this isn’t at the same level as Samsung’s The Wall microLED tech, the 115-inch micro-RGB TV is a stunner, with the ability to produce vivid, rich, and crisp colors that don’t skew super bright and end up oversaturating or blowing out a particular visual. While Samsung only had test content running on the micro-RGB TV, it looked great from all angles, not just a direct head-on view. Even at extreme angles to the left or right in the lifestyle set-up space, the micro-RGB delivered a vivid view, with reds and blues especially popping.

Having also seen the 115-inch Neo QLED 4K TV, I can confidently say it outperformed it in terms of visuals, at those angles and even head-on. It simply looked a step above, offering more accurate, realistic interpretations of colors that could still pop and get bright without skewing them out of reality. It has more than four times the dimming zones compared to top mini-LED TVs, and significantly greater color accuracy.

Contrast points for more stark or ones that require black were a bit more minimal in the test footage. However, since it can turn off those individual LEDs, it didn’t offer lesser performance there.

Of course, Samsung’s 115-inch micro-RGB TV won’t be for everyone. $30,000 is a lot for a TV, especially a first-generation of sorts, and even though it’s still LCD-based, the excitement here is around the use of individual red, green, and blue micro-scale LED modules in the backlight. The pictures here don’t really do justice to the experience of viewing this, but I’m really excited about where micro-RGB is going. It does undercut Samsung’s own The Wall, which is true microLED and costs a ton more, so seeing that bits of that tech are starting to trickle down might make for more exciting developments in this space.

Alongside it being Samsung’s first micro-RGB TV, this 115-inch size also comes with the brand’s VisionAI tech onboard for smarter features – like asking what something is while you’re watching content – but also handles the upscaling to ensure content looks great on this grand scale. You’ll also find Samsung’s Art Store here, and you do get access to a rotating allotment of photos and art to display, even if you don’t subscribe. Although I didn’t get to try any gaming or watch F1 races, the TV does support a 144Hz refresh rate.

If you get the chance to see this TV in person, I would take the opportunity to – it’s certainly one of the best I’ve seen in quite some time.

For now, Samsung’s 115-inch micro-RGB TV is available in Korea at 44.9 million KRW and will soon be available in the United States for $29,999. You can sign up for more details on that launch here, and the company has confirmed it should roll out to more markets in the coming months. Just make sure you have the space for it.
