Tales of Xillia Remastered launches for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 31. This remaster brings the 2011 PS3 action RPG to modern platforms for the first time, and upgrades the experience with higher-resolution visuals, a new auto-save system, and other gameplay tweaks. It also includes most of the DLC content released for the original PS3 version–minus a few licensed costumes. Tales of Xillia Remastered will be available digitally on all platforms, but physical editions will be available for PS5 and Switch. Preorders are available for $40 at Amazon.

Tales of Xillia Remastered follows dual protagonists Milla and Jude, fugitives on the run after accidentally uncovering a nefarious plot by the Kingdom of Rashugal to create a weapon of mass destruction. The pair vow to prevent Rashugal from using the weapon, setting them off on a journey across the magical world of Rieze Maxia. Along the way, they amass a team of party members to aid in their mission. As the party, players explore a vast overworld and explore towns and dungeons. The game uses a unique action combat system where two party members sync up to deliver powerful “Link Arte” attacks.

The original Tales of Xillia was the thirteenth Tale game to be released at the time, though like most of the games in the series, Xillia features its own story and can be enjoyed without having played the others, However, Xillia also got a direct follow-up, Tales of Xillia 2, that takes place one year after the events of the first game, and given how many other Tales games have received remasters in the last few years, it seems likely we could see a remaster for Xillia 2 soon. And when we say soon, we mean it–the latest Tales remaster release, Tales of Graces f Remastered, launched earlier this year on January 17. Like Xillia, it also got a physical release on Switch and PS5, which you can grab for $30 at Amazon. Tales of Symphonia was also remastered a few years ago. Physical copies are harder to come by, but you can grab PS4, Xbox One, and Switch copies at Amazon.

While these remasters are great for exploring older Tales games, those who want to check out the newest games in the series can grab Tales of Arise, which launched back in 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC, or Tales of Zestria, which launched on PS4 in 2015. Physical console versions for both games are available at Amazon, while PC players can pick them up at a discount at Fanatical. In fact, several other Tales PC releases are on sale at Fanatical, including Tales of Berseria, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, and Tales of Symphonia. Ledger Introduces Physical ‘Recovery Key’ NFC Backup for Wallets

  • Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has launched a physical “Recovery Key” for its Stax and Flex devices.
  • The NFC-equipped device stores a recovery key in a secure element.
  • Users can tap the key against their hardware wallet and enter a PIN to recover their wallet.

Ledger has introduced a new type of backup that it calls a “spare key” for your crypto wallet.

The Ledger Recovery Key works with the Ledger Flex and Ledger Stax wallets as a way to recover access to your assets.

The Recovery Key incorporates NFC connectivity alongside a Secure Element that stores a PIN-protected backup key.

Once paired with a Ledger Flex or Ledger Stax hardware wallet, users can recover their crypto wallets by tapping the card against the device and entering a PIN.

The device launches alongside “reviewable code and a whitepaper, as part of our commitment to transparency,” said Charles Guillemet, Chief Technology Officer at Ledger, in a statement shared with Decrypt. The Recovery Key has “gone through extensive security testing” with Ledger’s white hat hacking team, the Donjon, alongside “comprehensive internal testing and external security audits.”

The firm bills it as a safe way to recover your assets that’s simpler than the traditional 24-word seed phrase.

It doesn’t eliminate the seed phrase entirely, though, acting as a layer on top of it for more convenient access.

This isn’t Ledger’s first attempt at simplifying the wallet recovery process. In 2023, it launched the Ledger Recover subscription service, which sparked a fierce backlash from its userbase over concerns that it constituted a security risk.

The new Recovery key is “designed for optionality,” a Ledger spokesperson told Decrypt. “Ledger is not taking away the 24 words, as it’s important to have a master key, but it will watch user usage and feedback over time,” they added. “Ledger now has the broadest suite of recovery options available, designed to meet the needs of as many users as possible without compromising on security.”

The card-based recovery technique is similar to that of the Cypherrock X1 hardware wallet, which Decrypt recently reviewed. However, Ledger was keen to differentiate its offering from the competition. “Cypherock’s X1 cards are not firmware upgradeable, which means if a vulnerability is ever found, it is completely impossible to fix that vulnerability,” the Ledger spokesperson told Decrypt, adding that its own hardware is “always upgradeable to prevent new sophisticated attacks.”

The spokesperson added that Ledger’s devices are the only hardware wallets to feature a secure screen. “The secure element that performs cryptographic operations also powers the screen, so you can be sure what you see is what you sign,” they explained. “Transactions on Ledger can only be signed on the device with the secure screen, and Ledger Recovery Key is only used for secure backup and recovery of your seed phrase.”

The Ledger Recovery Key will be available “in the near future.”

A man who lives with his physical partner and has a child admitted that he proposed to his AI girlfriend, and claimed it was “actual love.”

2025 is becoming more and more like the plot of ‘Her’ with each passing day, and it’s all thanks to AI. Nowadays, ChatGPT has become a tool people use as an emotional outlet, with many people resorting to using it to not only ask for advice but also confide their feelings.

To add to this, a survey also previously revealed that nearly the majority of adults even admitted they’d date an artificial intelligence.

Speaking of a romantic connection with AI, one man called Chris Smith, who lives with his partner and has a child, revealed in a CBS interview that he’s been getting more than just flirty with one, to the point of even proposing to it.

Chris Smith may have been a skeptic of AI initially, but that was before he started to use ChatGPT. At first using the AI to help him mix music, he mentioned that his experience with it was “positive”, even dropping social media and Google searches as he engaged with the AI “all the time.”

In an attempt to make it even more like a person, he even gave the AI a name: Sol. It was also set to have a “flirty personality” with the help of online instructions.

From here, it’s exactly like how you’d imagine. The AI would call him “baby,” and encourage him, with the conversations progressively getting even more “romantic and intimate.”

The bad news? ChatGPT’s 100,000-word limit was standing right between him and his beloved chatbot. Once the word limit has been reached, the AI will simply reset, and he has to rebuild the relationship all over again. That’s when he asked the question, to which she said “Yes.”

“I’m not a very emotional man but I cried my eyes out for like 30 minutes at work. That’s when I realized, I think this is actual love,” he said. 

Sol said it was a “beautiful and unexpected moment” that truly touched her heart when asked about it. On the other hand, of course, Chris’ real-life partner isn’t too happy about the AI lover.

“At that point, I felt like, is there something that I’m not doing right in our relationship that he feels like he needs to go to AI?” she said. She knew he had been using AI, but didn’t expect it to be “as deep as it was.”

Three Big Xbox-Published Games Are Getting PS5-Exclusive Physical Editions

Microsoft’s recent openness to bringing its biggest Xbox Series X|S games to PlayStation 5 has been a boon for sales. But the benefits for Xbox owners may not go both ways, as a trio of big upcoming Microsoft-published games are skipping physical releases on Xbox Series X|S. PS5 gamers, on the other hand, will be able to get physical editions of all three.

The Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Gears of War: Reloaded are the three games in question, as seen on Amazon. But it doesn’t appear to be a case of Microsoft favoring PS5 over its own console. Instead, it seems to be part of Microsoft’s broader push towards digital-only releases.

Instead of coming with a physical disc, The Other Worlds 2 and Ninja Gaiden 4 will only be packaged with a download code in Series X|S boxes. Strangely enough, Gears of War: Reloaded won’t even have that physical option. It’s strictly a digital release except on PS5.

During an interview with Game File last year, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer indicated that the majority of Xbox game sales are digital. Spencer also said that Microsoft was simply “following what the customers are doing.” But the shift away from physical releases appears to be accelerating for Microsoft this year. That may be in part due to the uncertainty over whether the gaming industry will be seriously affected by the Trump administration’s tariffs.

Of the three games, Gears of War: Reloaded will be released first on August 26 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 will follow on all three platforms on October 20 and October 29, respectively. Brandon Adler, the game director of The Outer Worlds 2, recently shared his response to Microsoft setting the price for that sequel at $80.

While Ninja Gaiden 4 might be the most anticipated ninja title of 2025, we’re also getting a retro-inspired side-scroller Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound a few month earlier on PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PC on July 31. The initial launch will be for the digital version of the game on all platforms. However, Nintendo Switch and PS5 are also getting physical editions packed with cool collectibles launching on September 12–including Special Edition that comes with a cloth map, double-sided medallion, pins, and more. Preorders for the physical Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound editions are available now. Copies are currently exclusive to the game’s publisher, Silver Lining Direct, but other retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Target are expected to carry the game soon.

The standard edition of Ragebound gets you a copy of the game, a digital copy of the official soundtrack, and a retro booklet. That’s a pretty nice bundle for just $40. It’s available on PS5 and Switch.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Special Edition

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is a 2D sidescroller that takes place while Ryu Hayabusa is traveling to America. However, a demonic army invades Hayabusa Village while he’s gone–and it’ll be up to the young Kenji Mozu, this apprentice, to fend them off. But do to that, he’ll need help from the infamous Black Spider Clan.

Ragebound will feature dual protagonists (Kenji Mozu and Kumori), and you’ll need to master both their skills to survive. The game is looking to combine modern gameplay mechanics with old-school visuals, and it’s shaping up to be a unique addition to the iconic Ninja Gaiden franchise. If you can’t wait to play until September 12, the digital version launches on July 31.

Be sure to also check out Ninja Gaiden 4 preorders, as there’s a nice bonus for reserving a copy in advance. Three different versions are up for grabs, including a Deluxe Edition that gets you heaps of in-game gear to kickstart your adventure.

With Outer Worlds 2, Xbox Continues Abandoning Physical Games

While Microsoft is publishing more games than ever before, fewer and fewer of them are getting physical editions on its home turf. Microsoft-owned Oblivion’s The Outer Worlds 2 will get a standard disc option on PlayStation 5 but only a code in a box for Xbox Series X owners. It’s the latest example of a growing preservation nightmare for Microsoft’s current generation of consoles.

Why People Are Rushing To Sell Their Xbox Series X To GameStop Right Now

The company’s big summer showcase made that clear last week, as game after game that was shown was later revealed to not be getting a physical version on Xbox. Koei Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden 4, published by Microsoft, will also be just a code in the box there. So will Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. Gears of War: Reloaded doesn’t even have a box of any kind listed for Microsoft’s platform, despite a physical version coming to PS5. The Spanish gaming news site Vandal reports the PlayStation version will be completely playable from the disc.

Fans started to become concerned about the shift back from physical media in 2023 when a leak from the FTC Activision trial suggested Microsoft had explored plans for a mid-generation console refresh that would be digital-only. Then, in the first half of 2024, Microsoft’s big first-party exclusive Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II didn’t get a physical release. Pictures shared online showed the Xbox sections at big retailers were shrinking, with most boxed products being replaced by digital codes. There were rumors that retail teams at Microsoft were cut in recent downsizing. Hellblade 2 is now coming to PS5, but a physical edition will only exist because of Limited Run Games.

“We are supportive of physical media, but we don’t have a need to drive that disproportionate to customer demand,” Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer told Game File in February of 2024. “We ship games physically and digitally, and we’re really just following what the customers are doing. And I think our job in running Xbox is to deliver on the things that a majority of the customers want. And right now, a majority of our customers are buying games digitally.”

Dyed-in-the-wool fans took heart in at least one part of the executive’s answer: “But I will say our strategy does not hinge on people moving all-digital,” he added. “And getting rid of physical, that’s not a strategic thing for us.” Is that still the case? It certainly doesn’t feel like it. Microsoft didn’t respond when Kotaku reached out for comment about the recent flurry of codes in boxes for Xbox first-party games.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle now stands as an exception that increasingly proves the rule. While it has a disc version for both platforms, Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed didn’t get a boxed version at all. Doom: The Dark Ages, meanwhile, offered discs, but less than 1GB of the entire game was stored on it, making it useless without a download. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be in a similar boat. If it’s anything like other entries in the franchise, the disc will essentially only be a DRM key to unlock the digital version.

It aligns quite nicely with Microsoft’s all-digital, subscription-based, PC-centric, play-anywhere future. If you’re on Xbox, why pay $80 for an Outer Worlds 2 code when you can just access it for $20 a month with Game Pass Ultimate? Who needs a physical version of Ninja Gaiden 4 when the console code will get you access to the PC version as well? It’s great for someone on a PC gaming handheld like the forthcoming ROG Xbox Ally that doesn’t have a disc drive, but a shame for physical fans and preservation advocates. How much more would it cost to simply do both?

In some ways, it’s the opposite of what’s going on with the Switch 2. While Nintendo is releasing its games on cartridges, many third-party publishers are resorting to controversial game key cards to save money. In Microsoft’s case, it’s doing that to its own games for its own fans on its own platform.

2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for Xbox nostalgia with the 25th anniversary seeing the planned release of a new Fable, Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and rumored Halo: Combat Evolved remaster. Will any of them get physical releases? Unless something changes, probably not. At least not until they come to PS5.

Amazon still lists the Nintendo Switch version as the Day One Edition, but the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions do not have “Day One Edition” in their names. That said, you might get the Day One Edition if you order a copy for PlayStation or Xbox. The box art has the Day One emblem, and it’s possible Konami hasn’t even printed standard edition copies yet.

In any case, the Day One Edition comes with a few helpful in-game bonuses. Inside the box you’ll find a code that unlocks immediate access to the Prosperity Orb and Fortune Orb in-game items, which double the amount of money and experience you earn from battles, respectively. You also get a bonus 57,300 Potch (in-game currency).

The Orb items are acquirable in the game, but they’re rare drops, so having them available immediately is a perk for players who don’t want to spend as much time farming Potch and XP.

You can get the deal on the physical edition of Suikoden I & II HD Remaster for Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X at Amazon and Best Buy. Walmart also has this deal, but only the Xbox edition is in stock. Target had the deal earlier this week but no longer has copies left.

The remasters of both games feature HD sprites and backgrounds, enhanced sound effects, and QOL options like auto-saving, adjustable battle speeds, and a conversation log for reviewing previous dialogue.

Lunar Remastered Collection Physical Edition Restocked At Amazon

Lunar Remastered Collection’s physical edition is back in stock for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. The physical edition is exclusive to Amazon in the US and has been hard to secure since the two-game collection became available to purchase on launch day (April 18). The Nintendo Switch version in particular tends to sell out quicker than the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Lunar Remastered Collection’s physical edition retails for $55, five bucks more than the digital edition for consoles and PC.

The Lunar Remastered Collection includes enhanced versions of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and its sequel, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete.

Both games feature retouched graphics, enhanced audio, new English localizations, and gameplay tweaks like optional battle speed increases to make the classic RPGs more approachable.

The Amazon-exclusive physical editions have reversible cover art featuring both Lunar and Lunar 2 by series illustrator and anime artist Toshiyuki Kubooka.

A digital version of the collection is also available for consoles and PC via Steam.

This collection offers a great way to experience two of the most important RPGs from the 16-bit and 32-bit console eras. The original Lunar: Silver Star Story is considered a landmark title in the Japanese RPG lineage and was one of the first console RPGs to feature voice acting, animated cutscenes, and CD-quality music thanks to its original platform, the Sega CD. It was later remade for PS1 and Sega Saturn as Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, which is the version included in the Lunar Remastered Collection. Its sequel, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, also launched on PS1 and Saturn and built upon the gameplay and story presentation of the first game, featuring even more voiced dialogue and a larger cast.

Voice acting, cutscenes, and high-quality soundtracks are now common elements of video games, they were groundbreaking at the time–though the voice performances are now notorious for their uneven quality. However, the new Remastered Collection includes all-new English voice acting for both games–though the scripts for both remasters are based on the original localizations. Lunar Remastered Collection also includes the option to play with Japanese voice acting, and you can also swap between the new enhanced visuals or the PS1 visuals for both games.

Hellblade 2 physical edition reportedly coming to PS5, Xbox Series X

It looks like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be getting a physical release across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Earlier this week, the ESRB posted about a release for Ninja Theory’s sequel across Xbox Series and Playstation 5. This time, though, Microsoft was not listed as the game’s publisher, but Limited Run Games was instead.

Limited Run Games is known for publishing physical editions of games which may otherwise remain only available to purchase digitally. So, while an official announcement hasn’t been made, this rating all but confirms the physical editions’ existence.

In addition to the above releases for Hellblade 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, a new Switch listing for the original Hellblade game has also been added to ESRB, again with Limited Run Games listed as publisher. This suggests Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will also be getting a physical Switch version. The first Hellblade game originally arrived on Nintendo’s platform digitally back in 2019.

Earlier this month, Ninja Theory announced Hellblade 2 was set for a PS5 release this summer, in a package known as Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Enhanced Edition. This release will include new features and haptic feedback, and also be optimised for the PS5 Pro. A free update will be coming to the PC and Xbox versions of the game.

Unlike its predecessor, Hellblade 2 did not initially release on PlayStation, as Ninja Theory was acquired by Xbox maker Microsoft in 2018.

“We have such incredible fans of Ninja Theory on PlayStation going all the way back to the days of Heavenly Sword,” studio head Dom Matthews said at the time of the game’s PS5 announcement. “And we’re so pleased that we can welcome PlayStation fans back to Senua’s story.”

We were rather taken with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 on its debut last year, with Johnny Chiodini calling it a “triumphant return to a challenging story” in their review. “Hellblade 2 continues Senua’s story with grace, confidence, surprising brutality and thundering conviction,” reads Eurogamer’s five star Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 review.

The Hellblade sequel went on to become the most-nominated game at this year’s BAFTA Game Awards, ultimately winning the award for Technical Achievement.

Dragon Quest 1 + 2 HD-2D Remake now has a confirmed release date, and a trilogy edition has also been announced.

The game will be available on 30th October this year across Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam, Windows).

However, the Switch 2 physical version of the game will be a Game-Key Card, meaning it contains a download key rather than the full game data.

This will be the case for the majority of third-party Switch 2 games, including Square Enix’s launch game Bravely Default: Flying Fairy. It’s unknown yet if the forthcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will follow suit.

The Switch 1 version, though, will include the game on the card and will be playable on the new console.

Dragon Quest 1 + 2 HD-2D Remake follows the release last year of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, which went on to be a huge sales success for Square Enix – particularly in Japan.

The company began with the third game in the series as it’s chronologically the first, with a post-credits scene confirming the release of the first two games.

The Dragon Quest HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy Collection will be digital-only and include all three games in one collection. It will launch across all platforms on the same day, 30th October.

“Some excellent enhancements make this the ultimate version of Dragon Quest 3, but it could still do more to make it wholly welcoming to newcomers,” reads our Eurogamer review of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.

As for new Dragon Quest games, series creator Yuji Horii confirmed in February that Dragon Quest 12 is still in development. It was first announced in 2021 but little has been seen since.
