Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth finally available as physical double pack on PS5

by admin October 10, 2025

Square Enix is finally releasing Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth as a physical double pack.

These games are the first two parts of the Remake trilogy, which reimagines the original PS1 classic Final Fantasy 7.

Available from 4th December exclusively on PS5, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Twin Pack Physical Edition (as it’s known) will cost $59.99 / €69.99 / £59.99. You can pre-order it now from the Square Enix store.

Rebirth alone currently costs £69.99 on the PSN store, so it’s decent value.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will also be coming to Xbox and Switch 2 on 22nd January next year, which will be followed by Rebirth afterwards, though that remains without a release date.

It’s unknown, therefore, if an equivalent double pack will make its way to other consoles in the future.

What’s more, there’s still the third part of the trilogy to arrive at some point in the future, which is due across all platforms. Will a triple pack of the complete Remake trilogy be released physically? It would seem likely, but don’t expect it at launch if the wait for this twin pack is anything to go by.

The Xbox and Switch 2 versions of Remake will come with Pixel Remaster-style boosts to help progression, which will also be retroactively added to the PS5 and PC versions too.

Battlefield 6 physical copies are content complete and require no initial install, according to early copy holders

by admin October 8, 2025

Physical copies of Battlefield 6 are in people’s hands early, ahead of the official launch date of the 10th October. As such, it’s been revealed the physical PS5 version of the game is entirely contained on the disk itself. No download required.

This was stated by Reddit User Grecea_Vlad, who posted their early copy of Battlefield 6 online and answered a few questions from the community. They confirmed that no download was required to boot up Battlefield 6 days ahead of launch.

This makes Battlefield 6 a bit of an irregularity. Other large AAA games have required additional content downloads once a disc is inserted due to the hefty file size of these games. It’s also so these games can load faster, as it’s faster for a console to load files from its internal storage than from the inserted disc.

Here’s the Battlefield 6 multiplayer trailer!Watch on YouTube

What this means for Battlefield 6 players who buy a physical version is you’ll simply be able to slap in your physical copy and get straight to playing, which is a bit of a rarity these days.

Other info was revealed about the game courtesy of Grecea’s early copy, including the online servers being up-and-running already. Apparently there are even a few people already online and playing, which is fun.

EA and Battlefield Studios recently revealed the post-launch content plan for Battlefield 6, which will start coming to the game on the 28th October. New modes, new maps, weapons and more will be added to the game entirely for free.

As PlayStation physical game sales drop, it's no wonder Sony is pushing digital-only consoles

As PlayStation physical game sales drop, it’s no wonder Sony is pushing digital-only consoles

by admin September 17, 2025

Sales of physical software accounted for just three percent of PlayStation sales last year, according to Sony’s latest corporate report.

Considering the company’s total gaming division sales in 2024 were 4,670bn yen (around $31.77bn by today’s conversion), Sony still made around $953m in physical software sales (as a rough estimate).

However, that number has dropped from six percent of sales back in 2020. It’s no wonder Sony’s PS5 consoles are primarily digital-only when fewer consumers are buying physical games, even with the option of a disc drive. Or has there been a decline in physical games because of the digital-only consoles? And with reports the PS6 will also be digital-only with an optional disc drive, it’s a trend that’s only set to continue.

Astro Bot – Launch Trailer | PS5 GamesWatch on YouTube

By comparison, hardware makes up 24 percent of sales, though that’s a given considering the high cost of consoles – a price that keeps getting higher. That’s increased from 19 percent in 2020.

Digital software sales, meanwhile, account for 20 percent of revenue – a huge margin compared with physical sales.

Add-on content (DLC, effectively), accounts for 29 percent of sales, the biggest revenue driver of all. It’s no wonder, then, Sony is so keen to push live-service games – its report highlights the success of Helldivers 2, Destiny 2, Gran Turismo and MLB The Show, as well as noting the “eagerly awaited Marathon”.

Interestingly, the proportion of network services sales has dropped since 2020 from 17 to 14 percent (perhaps due to the rise in hardware sales). However, since 2022, monthly active users have increased 14 percent to 124 million accounts in 2024.

Another reason for the lower physical software sales last year could be the limited number of first-party games released, which tend to be bought more as physical editions. Astro Bot was the company’s biggest release last year, which sold 1.5m in its first month, but it was otherwise a quiet year.

PlayStation’s decline in physical game sales parallels Nintendo’s struggles with Switch 2. As game sizes have increased, it’s become more difficult to squeeze them onto physical media – that’s why Switch 2 uses game key cards that act as a key for a download. But with digital storage at a premium, it means massive games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake will take up huge amounts of capacity.

Hades 2 Physical Edition For Switch 2 Includes Full Game On Card

by admin September 15, 2025

Hades 2’s physical edition is published by Nintendo, so the full game and upgrade pack are included on cartridge. It comes in a Nintendo Switch 2 case, but the game card will also work on original Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite. The Switch 2-branded version is the only physical edition of Hades II for Nintendo consoles.

On Nintendo Switch 2, Hades II is rendered in 1080p at 120fps. Handheld mode also runs in 1080p resolution at 60fps. On original Switch, Hades II will run in 720p at 60fps. If you already have an early access save file on PC, you will be able to transfer it to your Nintendo console.

The digital edition is $30 on Switch or Switch 2, and the upgrade pack is free.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Physical Edition Is Now Available At Amazon

by admin September 7, 2025

The Witcher fans can now play Gwent with real cards thanks to the official physical adaptation. Revealed last December, Gwent: The Legendary Card Game starts shipping this month, and Amazon is now taking orders for $45. The complete set features five factions, over 400 cards with new artwork, and six game modes for 1-5 players.

Gwent: The Legendary Card Game was designed by No Loading Games and published by Hachette Boardgames. Amazon’s store page for Gwent just popped up this month. Though not marked as a preorder, the delivery estimate of three to four weeks suggests Amazon still needs a few weeks to get its inventory situation sorted. Gwent is sold by the game’s publisher but will ship from Amazon for free.

$45 | Supports 1-5 Players

Unlike many card games–including the digital version of Gwent–this is a one-off release. No Loading has no plans to release expansions or booster packs, which is why it’s advertised as the “complete set.”

Gwent’s physical edition has five factions: Northern Realms, Scoia’tael, Monsters, Skellige, and Nilfgaard. Players can build their faction decks from a pool of 436 cards, each of which has new artwork inspired by CD Projekt Red’s hit series.

Along with an impressive number of cards to pick from when building your deck, you can play six different variants of Gwent with the physical edition. Newcomers can use pre-built decks to learn the ropes in Initiation Mode. Four players can split into teams for 2v2 matches. Three to five players can battle in Free-for-All. If you want to test the deck you built or don’t have anyone to battle, Solo Challenge Mode is a single-player variant.

Advanced Mode and Tournament Format utilize Gwent’s conventional 1v1 set. Advanced Mode tasks you with making your deck from scratch, and Tournament Format uses Gwent’s traditional competition rules. A typical round of Gwent is around takes 20 minutes.

What’s in the box?

  • 436 Faction Cards (5 Factions)
  • 10 Aid Cards
  • 4 Tokens
  • 4 Gem Tokens
  • Score Tracking Board
  • Paper Game Board
  • 2 Rulebooks

Gwent: The Legendary Card Game

Gwent has been playable as a digital card game for a decade at this point. It first appeared as a minigame in The Witcher 3. The minigame’s immense popularity led CD Projekt Red to release a standalone version in 2018. Though official support ended in October 2023, Gwent remains playable today on consoles, PC, and mobile devices. Additionally, the Gwent community is keeping the digital version fresh with fan-made content updates and mods.

Gwent has technically been available in physical format before. Decks of cards were offered for a limited time to support the launch of The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. That said, the new retail edition includes the first full set of Gwent cards.

The Witcher Board Games

The Witcher video game series has served as the inspiration for multiple board games over the past few years, including the competitive strategy game called Old World. More recently, The Witcher joined the strategy fighting game series Unmatched.

The card game isn’t the only exciting release for The Witcher franchise this month. The ninth novel in Andrzej Sapkowski’s original book series will be published in English on September 30. The Witcher: Crossroads of Ravens is a prequel novel that explores Geralt’s backstory before he became the character we know today. You can preorder a hardcover copy of Crossroads of Ravens for $23.49 (was $30) at Amazon.

Just like the mainline games, Gwent was inspired by a game mentioned in Sapkowski’s novels called Gwint. If you haven’t read Sapkowski’s other Witcher novels and story collections, you can get the first seven by purchasing the two box sets below:

Cyberpunk 2077 anime Edgerunners getting physical Blu-ray release

by admin September 1, 2025

The first season of Cyberpunk 2077’s acclaimed anime spin-off Edgerunners is getting a physical Blu-ray release.

As shared by Crunchyroll, the anime box set is available to pre-order now, with an expected shipping date of 23rd October. It will retail in the US for $123.98 (I have not been able to find a UK specific release, though, with the current retail listing being region A).

For your money, you will receive (obviously) the entire first series, which is 10 episodes, across three discs. It also includes a storyboard booklet from director Hiroyuki Imaishi, a “special” booklet, three animation cel sheets and a two year anniversary poster (see image below).

“In a world of neon and the cybernetically enhanced, can David climb up from a lowly bourgie to become an edgerunning legend?” asks the official blurb. Eurogamer’s former editor-in-chief Wesley Yin-Poole called the Cyberpunk anime “fantastic” when he watched it back in 2022.

If this all sounds like your thing, you can find the Crunchyroll sales page here.

A second season of Edgerunners is now in the works at Netflix. It will comprise 10 episodes, and feature a standalone story within the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Earlier this year, Edgerunners’ writer and producer said he doesn’t want to write a jolly story for the series, because “when people are sad”, it makes him “a bit happy”.

Over three quarters of Cyberpunk 2077’s Nintendo Switch 2 sales were physical

by admin August 30, 2025

Earlier this year, the team at CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would be a Switch 2 launch title. Not only that, the studio was going to offer those interested a physical game cartridge to purchase, with the actual game on it.

This decision put CD Projekt in the relative minority, as many other third party studios were instead favouring ‘key cards’ for their own Switch 2 releases. These key cards don’t actually contain game data, and instead trigger a download from the Nintendo eShop when they are popped into the device.

And, this move has paid off. Last night, CDPR released its latest financial results and it turns out that the Switch 2 community really does like its physical media. Of Cyberpunk 2077’s Switch 2 sales in June, over 75 percent were physical.

As you can see in the image below, only 24.6 percent of the games Switch 2 sales were digital.

While we don’t have sales figures for Cyberpunk 2077, back in June it was reported CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 was the “best-selling third-party game during the launch of Switch 2”, and did “reasonable numbers” on Nintendo’s latest console.

Prior to its Switch 2 debut, CD Projekt’s VP of business development Jan Rosner said having Cyberpunk 2077 as a “cartridge with a plug and play experience” on Switch 2 was “the right thing to do”. At this time, the studio exec noted that physical games remain vital to Nintendo’s player base, and developers should not “underestimate” this.

CDPR isn’t the only studio to buck the third-party ‘key cards’ trend. Earlier this year, Sega announced Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds’ release will have the full game on the Switch 2 card.

Tales Of Xillia Remastered Getting Physical PS5 And Switch Versions

by admin August 21, 2025

Tales of Xillia Remastered launches for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 31. This remaster brings the 2011 PS3 action RPG to modern platforms for the first time, and upgrades the experience with higher-resolution visuals, a new auto-save system, and other gameplay tweaks. It also includes most of the DLC content released for the original PS3 version–minus a few licensed costumes. Tales of Xillia Remastered will be available digitally on all platforms, but physical editions will be available for PS5 and Switch. Preorders are available for $40 at Amazon.

Tales of Xillia Remastered Preorder Bonuses

Tales of Xillia Remastered preorder bonuses

If you preorder any version of Tales of Xillia Remastered, you’ll get the Super Adenturing Assistance Set, which includes a few helpful in-game items:

  • 10x Apple Gel
  • 10x Orange Gel
  • 10x Life Bottle
  • 10x Panacea Bottle

$40 | Releases October 31

Tales of Xillia: Remastered is available in a $40 physical standard edition for PS5 and Switch. It includes a copy of Tales of Xillia: Remastered and features reversible cover art. If you preorder, you’ll also get the Super Adventuring Assistance Set outlined above.

Physical PS5 and Switch preorders are available at Amazon. Digital preorders are available for Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and on PC via Steam.

Tales of Xillia Remastered follows dual protagonists Milla and Jude, fugitives on the run after accidentally uncovering a nefarious plot by the Kingdom of Rashugal to create a weapon of mass destruction. The pair vow to prevent Rashugal from using the weapon, setting them off on a journey across the magical world of Rieze Maxia. Along the way, they amass a team of party members to aid in their mission. As the party, players explore a vast overworld and explore towns and dungeons. The game uses a unique action combat system where two party members sync up to deliver powerful “Link Arte” attacks.

The original Tales of Xillia was the thirteenth Tale game to be released at the time, though like most of the games in the series, Xillia features its own story and can be enjoyed without having played the others, However, Xillia also got a direct follow-up, Tales of Xillia 2, that takes place one year after the events of the first game, and given how many other Tales games have received remasters in the last few years, it seems likely we could see a remaster for Xillia 2 soon. And when we say soon, we mean it–the latest Tales remaster release, Tales of Graces f Remastered, launched earlier this year on January 17. Like Xillia, it also got a physical release on Switch and PS5, which you can grab for $30 at Amazon. Tales of Symphonia was also remastered a few years ago. Physical copies are harder to come by, but you can grab PS4, Xbox One, and Switch copies at Amazon.

While these remasters are great for exploring older Tales games, those who want to check out the newest games in the series can grab Tales of Arise, which launched back in 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC, or Tales of Zestria, which launched on PS4 in 2015. Physical console versions for both games are available at Amazon, while PC players can pick them up at a discount at Fanatical. In fact, several other Tales PC releases are on sale at Fanatical, including Tales of Berseria, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, and Tales of Symphonia. We’ve rounded up all the Tales game releases in the list below.
