Elden Ring Nightreign’s next patch will make gameplay easier for solo players

by admin May 31, 2025

Just a day after its release, FromSoftware announced a crucial patch for Elden Ring Nightreign players who prefer to solo queue. The game’s developer posted on X that Patch 1.02 will be released next week, delivering some bug fixes and “improvements for solo expeditions.”

More specifically, FromSoftware will add the effect of “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat” that allows a self-revival once per night boss battle for solo expeditions. Players will also get more runes, which should provide a more balanced gaming experience when venturing alone. This news of this patch follows several criticisms of the game being poorly optimized when playing solo, versus in a party of three as it was designed for.

FromSoftware’s titles have a reputation for being difficult, but early reviews pointed out that Nightreign offers poor scaling with certain mechanics, abilities and boss fights that cater towards a full party. Despite the millions of copies sold on the first day, Nightreign holds a “mixed” Steam user review rating thanks to the solo queue issues, along with a lack of communication tools, cross-platform play and less replayability than other Souls titles.

For FromSoftware, Elden Ring Nightreign represents a stylistic shift into the roguelike genre based on its best-selling predecessor and it might still be working out some of the kinks. The game’s director, Junya Ishizaki, told IGN in an interview that jumping into an expedition as a duo was “overlooked during development” but is something that the developer is looking at and considering for post-launch support. Some players are also having issues with matchmaking itself, where FromSoftware recommends restarting the process to get into an expedition. As for rebalancing for solo play, FromSoftware said that more details about this upcoming patch will come next week.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s first big patch will improve solo play a bit

by admin May 31, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign is finally out, and while it’s received a pretty positive reception so far, there’s a contingent of players voicing their complaints that the game isn’t balanced well for solo play. The developers at FromSoftware appear to be listening, and they’re set to release a patch next week to make the solo experience a little more forgiving. (Though it’ll surely still be ludicrously difficult. This is FromSoftware we’re talking about.)

On launch day, FromSoftware announced on X that Patch 1.02 will drop in the following week, and it’ll bring “several bug fixes as well as improvements for solo expeditions,” including the ability for solo Nightfarers to self-revive “once per night boss battle” and an increase in runes they acquire from defeating enemies.

Still, Elden Ring Nightreign players will have a difficult time doing their best Let Me Solo Her impression. Nightreign is balanced and designed for three-player co-op, and some bosses will summon groups of enemies to throw at the Nightfarers, which will always pose a challenge for solo players, patch or no patch.

Elden Ring Nightreign Patch Coming Next Week To Make Solo Expeditions Easier

by admin May 30, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign launched today and in less than 24 hours, the game already has 2 million players. While it is designed as a three-player co-op roguelite experience, you can also play Nightreign solo… but it’s really, really hard. Fortunately, From Software is listening to players and releasing a patch next week to make solo expeditions easier.

The studio announced this patch on the official Elden Ring X account, stating Patch 1.02 arrives next week and includes several bug fixes and improvements for solo expeditions. As for what to expect, From Software says the effect, “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat,” which allows revival once per night boss battle, will be added to solo expeditions, and the amount of runes gained will be increased.

This should make the entire experience easier for solo players, as increased runes will allow them to level up faster. And having the ability to revive once per night boss battle will give players more of a fighting chance in Nightreign’s various fights. From Software says further details about Patch 1.02 will be provided next week.

In the meantime, read Game Informer’s Elden Ring Nightreign review and then check out Game Informer’s beginner tips and tricks for Elden Ring Nightreign. After that, read about how an Elden Ring live-action movie is in the works and is circling Heartstopper’s Kit Connor as the lead.

Elden Ring Nightreign is getting another patch next week to improve solo play

by admin May 30, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign will receive another patch next week to make improvements for solo players.

FromSoftware’s multiplayer spin-off has already received a day one patch that brought balance adjustments. And there’s more to come.

Next week, patch 1.02 will be released, adding an automatic revival effect once per Nightlord battle for solo expeditions. Further, the amount of runes acquired will be increased.

Elden Ring Nightreign For Dummies: Basics For EVERYTHING You Need to Know (But Were Afraid to Ask)Watch on YouTube

Nightreign released earlier today and has already seen strong numbers of concurrent players on Steam, although it’s received a Mixed reception due to players criticising the lack of duo option and in-game communication features.

Indeed, many players have criticised the studio – known for its single-player games – for creating a multiplayer game, although solo play is an option.

The following improvements for solo expeditions will be added to the game:
– The effect “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat”, which allows revival once per night boss battle, will be added to solo expeditions.
– The amount of runes gained will be increased.
Thank you for your support.

As I wrote earlier today, I would not recommend Nightreign as a solo game at this point as it’s clearly not the intended way to play.

However, it seems FromSoftware is aiming to respond to the current backlash to make solo play more feasible.

The studio previously stated it was considering a two-player option post-launch, acknowledging it was “something that was overlooked during development”.

“FromSoftware’s multiplayer spin-off is an exhilarating rush and a celebration of the studio’s prior achievements Souls veterans will devour,” I wrote in our Elden Ring Nightreign review.

Witcher 3 Getting One Last Big Patch: Mod Support On Consoles

by admin May 30, 2025

Image: CD Projekt Red

The Witcher 3 turned 10 years old this month, but the seminal fantasy role-playing game keeps finding new ways to reinvent itself. Three years after its “next-gen” upgrade brought the open-world adventure to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, CD Projekt Red revealed that Geralt and Ciri’s adventures will continue when mod support arrives on consoles later this year.

Clear Your Calendar For Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

“Later this year, we will release one more patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” the Polish studio announced on the game’s website on Friday. “This update will introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via mod.io. Creating, sharing, and enjoying mods will be easier and more accessible, as players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will be able to share a modding ecosystem.”

Mod support, including access to CDPR’s own REDkit tools since last year, has let players on PC experience all sorts of custom options and additions to the third-person RPG, from graphical updates and overhauls to character swaps and entirely new fan-made quests. That extra user-generated content will soon be available to players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as well at no extra cost (sorry Switch fans).

That’s great news for anyone revisiting Velen, Skellige, and Novigrad while CDPR continues plugging away at The Witcher 4. That Ciri-led adventure isn’t expected out until around 2027 or 2028, and remains the studio’s main focus even as Cyberpunk 2 enters pre-production. Despite that, it’s nice to see The Witcher 3 continue to get a little TLC. From the bevy of patches that fixed bugs and improved UI after launch to the incredible DLC expansions, it’s really the game that keeps on giving.

And now players on console will finally get to experience the joys of things like the restored dialogue in the Brother In Arms mod, brighter torches, and most importantly: no inventory weight limit!

The Witcher 3. It’s a decade old now. CD Projekt’s well on its way with The Witcher 4. However, in a really cool turn of events, the studio’s now realed it’ll be putting out one more patch for TW3 later this year, finally bringing mods for it to consoles.

Yep, clearly CDPR didn’t get enough of a kick out of releasing those REDkit modding tools on PC and seeing all the cool stuff folks got up to with them. We need more Witcher 3 modding, and by Sigi Reuven’s bald bonce, we’re getting it.

“As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we’re excited to share some good news for our players and modders,” CD Projekt wrote in its announcement, “Later this year, we will release one more patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. You’ll need a mod.io account to download mods on console, and it’s worth noting CD Projekt reccomends that mods available via this new support be made using its official REDkit tools on PC, with that being a hard rule for any console mods which use scripts (so I’d imagine most complex stuff). That said, it adds that “Cross-Platform Mod Support will support mods created in other ways too”.

Obviously, if you’re playing on PC, you’ll be good to keep on doing what you’ve been doing to get your Witcher 3 mods if you wish.

CD Projekt says it’ll share more info, such as a concrete release date, in the run up to the patch’s deployment later this year. Until then, maybe plot out where you hope to sail your Jankdaw.

Will you be hopping back into The Witcher 3 for another playthrough once this mod support drops? Let us know below!

Elden Ring Nightreign gets balance adjustments in day one patch

by admin May 30, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign has received a day one patch ahead of its release tomorrow.

Ready across all platforms, the update “aims to improve gameplay and stability” according to the (very minimal) patch notes.

The changes are as follows:

  • Improved handling of playable characters
  • Soundtrack addition and adjustments
  • Text adjustments
  • Balance adjustments
  • Added character scenarios
  • Bug fixes

No further details are provided in the notes, so I hopped into the game to check out the changes.

Elden Ring Nightreign Review – An Authentic Souls ExperienceWatch on YouTube

Testing a single player expedition, it would appear the balance adjustments have made it slightly easier. While enemies are still aggressive, their health seems lower and my character stats appeared to be higher.

Of course, it could be my skill level has increased over the review period. But even a half-arsed run got me two thirds through the first Nightlord boss, which wouldn’t have happened previously, so make of that what you will.

Still, I wouldn’t take this as a sign that solo play is a viable option to complete the game. It’s still very much intended to be a multiplayer experience.

One obvious improvement, though, is the “improved handling of playable characters”, which relates to the game’s parkour movement. It’s now much cleaner jumping up the side of cliffs.

The remaining changes will need to be tested over a longer period of time.

Elden Ring Nightreign is FromSoftware’s multiplayer spin-off to its 30m selling game. It’s out tomorrow across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam). Note that crossplay between platforms is not included.

“FromSoftware’s multiplayer spin-off is an exhilarating rush and a celebration of the studio’s prior achievements Souls veterans will devour,” I wrote in our Elden Ring Nightreign review.

Elden Ring Nightreign gets a pre-day one patch to deliver some cheeky last minute build tweaking before your first steps in Limveld, and offer advice on some PC issues

by admin May 30, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign comes out tomorrow, May 30, meaning that your wait to sample a thing we thought was quite good is almost over. Before you hop into classic ER to fight one last Malenia battle for the road, it’s worth checking out the contents of the game’s first patch – Version 1.01 – which FromSoft has handily deployed about a day early.

You can check out the full notes for Version 1.01 if you like, but the gist is that it’s pretty much what you’d expect from a day one patch, aside maybe from some advice on how to troubleshoot a couple of techy teething issues you might run into on PC, depending on your exact hardware.

“This update brings gameplay and stability improvements to ensure an optimal experience for your first steps in Limveld,” big Bandai Namco wrote, outlining that the patch includes “improved handling of playable characters”, balance adjustments, text tweaks, and added character scenarios. The soundtrack’s also been added to, so you should have plenty of bangin’ boss-battlin’ tunes, and there are the usual bug fixes.

You want more detail than that? Well, suck it up. These are Elden Ring patch notes, and you’re gonna have to read between the lines like you do with all that lore. Maybe if you’re lucky we’ll get a video in five years time explaining that this patch actually had a deeper meaning, over the course of five very good hours.

That said, there are a couple of things related to knopwn issues on PC that FromSoft has chosen to explain in full. If you’re on that platform and find yourself unable to start the game or sometyhing similar, verifying the integrity of its files via its properties menu in your Steam library might help. Here’s the full instruction flow for that: Go to ‘Library’ > right-click on ‘ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN’ > select ‘Properties’ > select ‘Installed Files’ > and execute ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’.

Meanwhile, FromSoft wrote: “We have confirmed that some PC configurations using the latest graphics cards may experience frame rate drops. We are currently investigating the cause. In the meantime, If you experience significant frame rate drops, you may be able to resolve it by setting the graphics settings from the default ‘High’ to ‘Medium’ or ‘Low’ and lowering the screen resolution, as well as installing the latest drivers for your graphics card.”

So, pretty standard stuff you’d try right out of the gate to see if it resolved teething problems while waiting for the studio ro deploy a full fix.

Once you’ve battered Malenia one more time, why not read our review of Nightreign, in which Connor outlines why he loved it, despite being “a strange beast”. If it helps your concentration to imagine him as the lead singer of Evanescence and the game as the dude yelling ‘Can’t wake up!’, then so bit.

Will Elden Ring Nightreign’s Day One Patch Fix A Big Problem?

by admin May 29, 2025

Image: FromSoftware / Bandai Namco

Elden Ring Nightreign’s bosses can be a real struggle, even working alongside two other teammates. Solo, however, they’re downright brutal. While the game allows fans to play offline by themselves, it’s an experience best left to only the most hardcore Soulslike sickos. Will FromSoftware address that in a day-one update? The predictably opaque patch notes don’t say.

The Most Sought After Elden Ring Sword Has A Storied History

Bandai Namco revealed a day-one patch for the multiplayer roguelite RPG— arriving May 30 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC—and the update apparently addresses character handling, bug fixes, and game balance. But what precise changes were made? The publisher doesn’t say. Here are the full patch notes:

  • Improved handling of playable characters
  • Soundtrack addition and adjustments
  • Text adjustments
  • Balance adjustments
  • Added character scenarios
  • Bug fixes

Neat! But what does it mean?! Early reviews, including my own impressions of Elden Ring Nightreign after 10 hours with the game, paint a picture of FromSoftware’s latest spin-off being a messy but intriguing experiment in old-school (read: hostile) game design, built on modern twists (randomized loot, a closing battle royale circle of death). Throwing yourself against that brick wall as a group can be fun, suffering the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of great FromSoftware bosses together.

But some of the pain points and uneven friction are a lot harder to negotiate when just playing by yourself. From simple things like enemy aggro, to more intricate nuisances like loot RNG and grinding a run just to discover your never got the weapon-type to exploit a Nightlord’s weakness, is even more frustrating solo with no friends to help bail you out. While there are some early players who have seemingly cleared the game in single-player, I can confidently say that’s not a viable option for most of the 30 million people who bought the original Elden Ring.

Does that matter? Maybe not! But it would be nice to know if it’s something FromSoftware is looking to tweak in the day-one patch, or whether it intends to maintain it as a cornerstone of the experience, with the extra challenge of solo play pushing more people toward multiplayer matchmaking. Director Junya Ishizaki said earlier this week he was all “nerves and excitement” approaching the game’s launch, but that the team is “continually tweaking and balancing the game.” We’ll see what that amounts to in practice when Nightreign goes live, starting at 6:00 p.m. ET May 29 for players on PC, then midnight on console.

Warzone patch notes for season 4

by admin May 29, 2025

Call of Duty: Warzone’s weapon meta is shifting again with season four, as a new round of weapon buffs and nerfs aims to keep a level battlefield.

Raven Software has made early balance updates to make sure existing weapons don’t get completely overshadowed by the newly introduced LC10 SMG and FFAR 1 assault rifle, both of which are shaping up to be serious powerhouses (well, new weapons have always been like that).

Here’s a breakdown of the Warzone patch notes for season four released on May 28.

Warzone patch notes today (May 28): Weapon changes summarized

Season 4 brings in new meta guns. Image via Activision

Black Ops 6 weapons have been fine-tuned to keep things balanced across the board.

LMGs have been reworked to make them more dependable for long-range fights, though they’re still not quite as effective as ARs in the mid-range game. SMGs now pack a bit more range too, making them a more viable pick overall. ARs, on the other hand, got a bullet velocity boost, so hitting shots at mid to long distances should feel smoother.

One standout change is the buff to AMR Mod 4. It’s been enhanced to guarantee a one-shot headshot at its maximum damage range. That puts it in contention with the HDR as the top-tier sniper in season four.
