Silksong’s first patch should give you a chance against its early bosses

by admin September 9, 2025

Video game difficulty is a real balancing act. You want to be challenged and earn each new level, but when it’s too hard there’s more frustration than fun. Apparently, a number of players have found the new Hollow Knight: Silksong game a bit too hard, struggling to defeat some of the bosses.

Now, Team Cherry, the indie studio behind the Hollow Knight series, is making things a bit easier. Team Cherry has announced Hollow Knight: Silksong‘s first patch, which includes a “slight difficulty reduction in early game bosses.” This update includes the bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter.

Otherwise, the patch mostly includes bug fixes, such as gamers remaining cloakless or getting stuck floating. It also brings an increase in rosary rewards from relics and psalm cylinders, as well as for courier deliveries. These retroactive updates should come by mid next week, but eager players can join the public-beta to get the fix. Team Cherry notes that its already working on more fixes in a second patch.

The long awaited sequel to Hollow Knight finally launched on September 4, with eager fans crashing Steam, the Nintendo eshop and the Xbox Store. It’s available now for $20.

The first Hollow Knight: Silksong patch is going to come with some balance tweaks so you don’t quit early

by admin September 9, 2025

It’s been a few days now since the launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong and a few issues are starting to bubble up. One of the most significant complaints has been about the game’s level of difficulty.

The original Hollow Knight is/has always been a challenging game, so it’s not exactly a surprise that its DLC-turned-sequel is giving many players trouble. This time, however, it does appear that developer Team Cherry may have overtuned things in the new game.

Silksong is certainly not an easy game overall, but the early parts have been particularly frustrating for some players. It doesn’t help that the Metroidvania doesn’t offer much in the way of accessibility options, which resulted in the creation of a number of mods that tweak various aspects of the game’s level of difficulty.

While Team Cherry hasn’t quite commented on the discourse surrounding Silksong’s challenging combat, the developer has announced that it’s going to be making some balance changes.

In a post on Steam, the team revealed the patch notes for update 1.0.28470, which is currently planned for release by the middle of next week on all platforms. The patch is primarily intended to fix bugs, but it’s also going to introduce “slight” balance changes to the early game.

Watch on YouTube

As revealed in the patch notes, you can expect early game bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter to be a little easier. The damage Sandcarvers do has been reduced, too. You’ll also notice some tweaks to the economy, with a small reduction to the prices of mid-game Bellway and Bell Bench, a small boost to rosary rewards from relics and psalm cylinders, as well as another boost to rosary rewards for courier deliveries.

Here’s the full change log:

  • Fixed situation where players could remain cloakless after Slab escape sequence.
  • Fixed wish Infestation Operation often not being completable during the late game.
  • Fixed wish Beast in the Bells not being completable when Bell Beast is summoned at the Bilewater Bellway during the late game.
  • Fixed getting stuck floating after down-bouncing on certain projectiles.
  • Fixed courier deliveries sometimes being inaccessible in Act 3.
  • Fixed craft bind behaving incorrectly when in memories.
  • Fixed Lace tool deflect soft-lock at start of battle in Deep Docks.
  • Fixed Silk Snippers in Chapel of the Reaper sometimes getting stuck out of bounds.
  • Fixed Claw Mirrors leaving Hornet inverted if taking damage during a specific moment while binding.
  • Fixed Snitch Pick not giving rosaries and shell shards as intended.
  • Removed float override input (down + jump, after player has Faydown Cloak).
  • Slight difficulty reduction in early game bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter.
  • Reduction in damage from Sandcarvers.
  • Slight increase in pea pod collider scale.
  • Slight reduction in mid-game Bellway and Bell Bench prices.
  • Slight increase in rosary rewards from relics and psalm cylinders.
  • Increase in rosary rewards for courier deliveries.
  • Various additional fixes and tweaks.

If you can’t wait until next week to see what the patch has changed, you can actually access that version of the game right now by opting into the public beta branch on Steam or GOG. If you’re currently deep in the Silksong mines, we highly recommend checking out our guides for all the Mask Shard locations, all the Lost Flea locations – and, of course, how to upgrade your Needle.

Hollow Knight: Silksong’s first patch makes some early bosses slightly easier, out now in Steam and GOG beta

by admin September 9, 2025

The notes for Hollow Knight: Silksong’s first proper post-release patch have arrived. Team Cherry have been busy fixing bugs and making some “slight balance adjustments in the early game”, which you can now give a go early via beta branches on Steam and GOG.

That’ll mean you’re testing the changes ahead of the update’s planned full deployment next week, with Team Cherry aiming for a mid-week arrival “barring any unforeseen issues”. Now you know that, let’s get into the changes, which the studio have outlined in a post on the Steamy platform.

First of all, the bit that might prove controversial among hardened Skongers. As part of those early game balance tweaks, Team Cherry have opted to roll out a “slight difficulty reduction” for the boss fights against Moorwing and Sister Splinter. How you feel about that will likely depend on whether you’ve spent the past few days yelling at folks for seeking out mods or guides to help make their path through the metroidvania a bit less stressful.

Outside of that, the balancing’s also seen Sandcarvers have their damage reduced, plus increases in the rosary rewards dished out by relics, psalm cylinders, and courier deliveries. The prices of bellways and bell benches you run into around the game’s midway point have also dropped a bit. Oh, and there’s been a “slight increase in pea pod collider scale”.

That’s it for the balancing, with the rest being bug fixes for problems like “getting stuck floating after down-bouncing on certain projectiles”, “courier deliveries sometimes being inaccessible in Act 3”, and that “situation where players could remain cloakless after Slab escape sequence” I mentioned in the strap. No prolonged Hornet nudeness for the horn-dogs. Well, coatlessness really, but either way she might have gotten a bit cold, so an important fix.

I’ll list the rest of the fixes below, so you can scan through to see if anything you’ve run into crops up:

  • Fixed wish Infestation Operation often not being completable during the late game.
  • Fixed wish Beast in the Bells not being completable when Bell Beast is summoned at the Bilewater Bellway during the late game.

“All fixes will apply retroactively, so players who’ve hit a significant bug that prevents progress may want to switch over to public-beta to receive the fix,” Team Cherry wrote. “Further fixes are already being worked on for a second patch. If you have an issue and you don’t see the solution in the list above, we may be working on it.”

If you’re planning on jumping into the patch’s Steam beta, instructions for getting access can be found here. Just remember that you’ll likely need to disable any mods, such as these freshly released multiplayer ones, that you’ve got installed first.

First Silksong update patch notes will finally reduce early difficulty

by admin September 9, 2025

Team Cherry has revealed the patch notes for the first Hollow Knight: Silksong update, which looks to make the early game slightly easier, although it doesn’t completely remove the difficulty.

After finally launching on September 4, Silksong has already become one of 2025’s biggest games. Less than a week later, its player count has reached over five million, and it even crashed many platforms as players all try to download it at once.

It hasn’t all been good news, though, as some fans have complained about the punishing difficulty, with some even using mods to make it easier.

Now, the 1.0.28470 update has been revealed, and while it’s set to address some of the issues, don’t expect the game to be a breeze once it goes live.

Do we know when the 1.0.28470 update goes live?

There is no concrete date just yet, but the devs have confirmed it will be mid-next week if everything goes as planned. This means it will likely be rolled around sometime around September 17, although it could be slightly earlier or later.

If you’re playing on PC, the update is available right now through the public-beta branch on Steam.

First Silksong update nerfs early bosses

Although the patch is primarily focused on squashing bugs (no pun intended), it also addresses some of the more brutal early bosses.

Both Moorwing and Sister Splinter will receive a “slight difficulty reduction” going forward. It isn’t entirely clear how the devs will go about this, but it could mean that they will no longer deal two masks of damage per hit, or it could be as simple as making their attacks easier to dodge.

Given that it’s only listed as a “slight” tweak, it’s more likely to be the latter or something similar.

You’re listening to Vatican radio, or at least you can with freshly DLCed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s latest patch

by admin September 5, 2025

Oh, throw me in an ancient tomb and lob some snakes down there for good measure, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle got some DLC this week. I can’t imagine why that might have flown under the radar a bit. Anyway, the Order of Giants has brought with it a patch that makes a few noteworthy additions to the base game.

Watch on YouTube

Getting right into it, Indy update five adds a new “Very Light action experience” difficulty option aimed at folks who “prefer to be challenged by the exploration and puzzle solving, and prefer not to find the combat too challenging”. Tell your nan who likes visiting historical sites and doing crosswords, now’s her chance to whip some Nazis in a video game.

That’s one of these few additions, but the main one that’s piqued my attention’s this: “New Radio MCs have been added to the Jazz and Opera radio stations found on radio sets in Marshall College and the Vatican. You can also now tune the Vatican radio sets to hear news broadcasts that cover the events from around the game’s world.”

That’s a cool touch, being able to turn a knob and hear about what that knob Voss is doing from the 1940s Italian equivalent of those dorks on BBC radio four. Beyond that, Machine Games have whipped out some extra-swanky ray tracing for Indy’s hair, via support for RTX Hair on 50-series Nvidia RTX GPUs. “We recommend enabling this feature only on higher-end GPUs with 16GB of VRAM or more,” they wrote. That’s you told, no uber-luscious trim fidelity for those without top hardware.

The final new feature’s a little tweak to the inventory screen that’ll let you know which of your outfits will act as safe disguises for the area in which you’re standing, and which will instantly alert the guards that there’s a Harrison Ford sneaking around. For all the bug fixes and minor tweaks, you can check out update five’s full notes here.

Our Brendy wrote the following in his Indy review:

Machine Games have reproduced the experience of the Lucasfilm movies in a 99% accurate form. And they have done so in a manner only a megafunded Bethesda studio with a lot of Nazi-killing experience could. Yes, the video gamey seams stand out as you scarf down croissants for health and hear another bigot coughing behind a wall. But just as I’m not interested in Baker’s performance reaching some unobtainable ledge of authenticity, I also don’t want my adventure to abandon the language of games where it doesn’t make sense to do so. I’m happy for this to be exactly the kind of expensive, cinematic, blockbuster explorathon it seemed predestined to be. Sneeze away, little Nazi. I know where you are.

Oh wait. If I’ve got Vatican FM, the holy city’s haven for the hottest hymns and coolest choirs, turned up to max, will I still be able to hear the telltale bodily noises of Hitler’s goons?

Helldivers 2 Patch Notes Resolve More Hard Crashes, Buff New Dust Devil Items

by admin September 4, 2025

As a game that’s constantly evolving, Helldivers 2 is no stranger to hotfixes and patches. In fact, a new update has just gone live, and it is designed to quickly address several issues that have cropped up in the game since the start of the Into the Unjust event in the game. This new patch focuses primarily on game-breaking issues causing hard crashes, as well as buffs to the new gear introduced in the Dust Devils warbond.

For general fixes, players can expect several problems to be addressed. Developer Arrowhead says that the crashes related to there being too many particle effects, Automaton missions, and a bug with a seeking missile have been resolved with this patch. Other tweaks include the extraction shuttle landing more safely for players, hive world tunnels should no longer be darker than intended if you’re using lower graphics settings, and the excessive light emitted by the Hellpad has also been toned down.

Now Playing: Helldivers 2 – Dust Devils Warbond Gameplay Trailer

When it comes to weapons and stratagems, there have also been a few issues here. The LIFT-182 Warp Pack tended to make players get stuck midair, and there were also instances of the game crashing when a player aborted a mission while wielding a turret or driving a vehicle. These should all be fixed here, and it should also be safe to equip the Halo ODST MA5C assault rifle when you’re on the bridge of your flagship.

For the buffs, Arrowhead is reducing the cooldown on the MS-11 Solo Silo and giving the S-11 Speargun a quicker reload. The silo stratagem cooldown will now drop from 210 seconds to 180 seconds, while the Speargun reload time has been cut by an entire second to just 2.5 seconds. A larger patch released earlier this week also killed several bugs, allowing players more freedom so that they could also go on a bug hunt. If you’re one of them, just be prepared to pack a few nukes in case you run into a Hive Lord.

Helldivers 2 is also available for Xbox Series X|S now, and so far, that has seen plenty of fresh recruits join the fight to bring managed democracy to distant planets.

Helldiver 2 Hotfix 01.004.001

MS-11 Solo Silo

  • Cooldown changed from 210 seconds to 180 seconds

S-11 Speargun

  • Decreased reload duration from 3.5 to 2.5 seconds

General fixes

  • Fixed a crash that can happen when too many particle effects are spawned
  • Fixed a crash when Helldivers are in Hellpods after being reinforced
  • Fixed an issue where light emitted by the Hellpad could become excessively bright under certain conditions
  • General crash fix occurring during Automaton missions
  • Fixed issue in which hive world tunnels would become darker than intended in certain circumstances when a user is using lower graphics settings
  • Fixed a crash that could occur if the target of a seeking missile gets deleted before impact
  • The extraction shuttle will land in a more safe and sound manner

Weapons & Stratagem fixes

  • Fixed the LIFT-182 Warp Pack getting stuck suspended in the air or crashing
  • Fixed a rare crash caused by multiple players having the MA5C AR equipped on the Super Destroyer
  • Fixed Displacements Backpack VFX issues whilst aiming down sights
  • Fixed a rare crash which could occur when aborting a mission while a player was wielding a turret or driving a vehicle

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s status as the league’s reigning Most Valuable Player will be visible in every game he plays during the 2025 season thanks to a gold patch on his jersey.

For the first time, the NFL will further recognize the achievements of some of football’s top performers from last season. Winners of five Associated Press awards from 2024 will wear a “Gold Shield” patch inspired by the NFL Honors logo, in place of the traditional NFL Shield match, on the collar of the players’ game jerseys.

The players wearing the patch are Allen (MVP), Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley (Offensive Player of the Year), Denver Broncos CB Pat Surtain II (Defensive Player of the Year), Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (Offensive Rookie of the Year) and Los Angeles Rams LB Jared Verse (Defensive Rookie of the Year).

NFL

The gold shield patches will be on the five jerseys for the entirety of the 2025 regular season and playoffs, beginning with Thursday night’s season opener between the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys (8:20 p.m., NBC).

Allen will debut his patch on Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson, who finished second in MVP voting despite being named AP First Team All-Pro. The game will mark the first time the top-two players in MVP voting from the prior season meet in a season opener since at least 1970, per Elias Sports Bureau.

This program is anticipated to continue for these awards during subsequent NFL seasons.

Wearing a gold logo to recognize players’ achievements was also introduced by MLB earlier this year. Six MLB players have gold-embellished MLB logos on the backs of their game-issued jerseys. Some of the logos from those jerseys are being used to make Topps trading cards.

This adds to the league’s patches given out to winners of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, with those winners wearing a special patch on their jerseys for the rest of their careers.

Update v1.1 is coming to NBA 2K26 during the early access part of the game and includes some major bug fixes and changes.

Visual Concepts hasn’t made any gameplay alterations for the first patch of the game. The focus of this patch appears to be the bugs players have encountered in the first 72 hours of early access. The patch will initially go live on the current-gen consoles of Xbox and PlayStation, followed by other platforms.

Let’s look at all the changes that are part of this patch.

Complete NBA 2K26 v1.1 patch notes

The patch will go live at 4 am CT on Sept. 2 and includes many changes. The reason behind zero gameplay changes is that Visual Concepts continues monitoring the current situation. Here’s the actual set of changes that you’ll witness after the update goes live.

THE CITY

The MyCITY experience has been far from smooth, and players can get a daily VC bonus entitled for those with the Pro/Hall of Fame Pass.

  • Numerous fixes to game stability in The City (and its modes) have been made.
  • Resolved multiple issues with Challenges, including the daily 1,000 VC bonus not being active for some Season Pass holders.
  • Fixed a reported disconnect that could occur in Street Kings Co-Op games.

MyCAREER

Two major bug fixes have been added that allow you to progress without problems.

  • Fixed a hang that could occur during the NBA Draft portion of the Out of Bounds story.
  • Resolved a progression blocker that could occur during the Rookie of the Year personal goal storyline.

MyTEAM

  • Auctionable Player Cards can now be sent to My Auctions when a duplicate unauctionable Player Card is received.

GENERAL

  • Resolved a reported disconnect that could occur during Play Now Online games.

PC (ADDITIONAL UPDATES)

This change is exclusive to PC and will be available when the patch goes live later.

  • Addressed reports of instability that could occur when using AMD Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards.
