If you missed Master Chief having sex on Paramount+ now you can see Master Chief having sex on Netflix

by admin October 2, 2025

Did you miss the Halo TV show when it first came out because it was on Paramount+ and, like, who even subscribes to Paramount+, right?

Well, now you can catch the Halo TV show on Netflix because it’s on Netflix, and if you’re like me, you probably still subscribe to Netflix even though there’s less and less of a reason to still subscribe to Netflix. Right?

The Halo series began in March of 2022, with a second season following in February 2024 and a third season following never because it was canceled. The show didn’t really do all that well critically, as far as I can recall: I don’t remember anyone saying they liked it much, though I also didn’t hear that it was absolutely terrible. Former Halo art director Marcos Lehto stated that he didn’t hate the show, but said it was “Not the Halo I made.”

The general consensus about the Halo show seemed to be just sort of… eh. But a show being eh is sometimes just the sort of thing I’m in the mood for, and since it’s on Netflix, the one subscription I doggedly forget to cancel, it sounds like the perfect thing to stream on a rainy weekend while only half paying attention because I’m also playing Super Video Golf on my Steam Deck.

Besides, I want to see Master Chief have sex because I missed it the first time around.

That was just one of the show’s controversies. First, Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 took his helmet off, something that never happened in the game, and then he showed his naked butt. Then he just went and straight-up boned someone. None of that went over all that well among the fandom.

There was so much backlash that Pablo Schreiber, who plays Master Chief, threw the production under the bus by saying he argued against the sex scene, calling it a “huge mistake.” Way to have your coworkers’ backs, dude. What you could have said was nothing.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

The second season was better received than the first, which seemed promising for the future of the show, but Halo was canceled in July of 2024—just at the point that an actual Halo finally appeared on the show called Halo. Will it gain new life on Netflix, maybe even enough that it’ll get picked up for more seasons? I doubt it, but you never know: I’ll certainly be watching, at least when I look up intermittently from my Steam Deck.

The 'Stranger Things' Brothers Tease Their Paramount Plans

The ‘Stranger Things’ Brothers Tease Their Paramount Plans

by admin September 28, 2025

2025 will end with the end of Stranger Things, after which creators Matt and Ross Duffer will be at Paramount. While the pair are knee deep in putting the finishing touches on their Netflix hit, they talked up what’s to come once they’re exclusive to the Mission: Impossible and Transformers studio.

Movie-wise, the brothers intend to focus on original things, but they also told Variety they wouldn’t mind tackling a known property owned by Paramount. However, they stressed any IP they took on would have to be ones they “really responded to,” not just something that’s popular or would make a good headline. They didn’t offer more specifics in terms of criteria, but Matt brought up “botched” properties where “someone swung and missed, [and] then you have an opportunity to do it properly.”

When they’re not tackling movies, the Duffers hope to find and foster new talent, akin to what Shawn Levy did for them by backing Stranger Things. They don’t want to get as big as Bad Robot, though, so they’ll just focus on “identifying really talented people and then just helping them get their vision made and then mostly staying out of the way.”

As for the Duffers’ TV ventures, they intend repeat what they did with Stranger Things and make event shows in the eight-to-10 episode range. Shows with 20-episode or more seasons are “fatiguing,” said Matt, and neither brother grew up a fan of that model. But they want to continue making shows with shorter seasons and a “when it’s done” model, with Matt calling the traditional way “a diminishing return. I like the buildup.” Brother Matt also acknowleged that it’s strange the two even ended up in TV to begin with when they grew up on movies and aren’t really fans of television—but hey, look forward to the last run of Stranger Things episodes beginning November 26.

‘Tulsa King’ Season 3 Release Schedule: When New Episodes Hit Paramount Plus

by admin September 21, 2025

Tulsa King’s season 3 premiere is imminent, and the exploits of Sylvester Stallone’s Oklahoma-based crime boss and his allies are far from over. Paramount Plus has already renewed the Taylor Sheridan-created drama for season 4.

Season 3 will continue the saga of Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi and his crew — which he pulled together after leaving New York behind after spending 25 years in prison — and introduce new foes, the Dunmires. According to Paramount Plus, the formidable family includes Jeremiah Dunmire, “a powerful, forceful man with deep pockets in the liquor business,” and his wild-eyed country son, Cole.

The new Tulsa King season will also include Samuel L. Jackson, who’s starring in the upcoming New Orleans-set spinoff Nola King. It’ll introduce Jackson’s character, Russell Lee Washington Jr., who met Manfredi in prison. There are more details about his role out there, but you might want to wait and see what unfolds on-screen.

How to watch Tulsa King season 3

You’ll need a Paramount Plus subscription to watch the crime drama series. In the US, new episodes will drop one each week on Sundays at 12 a.m. ET (or Saturdays at 9  p.m. for PT folks) starting with episode 1 on Sept. 21, according to Paramount Plus.

Sarah Tew/CNET

If you want to get Paramount Plus to watch the new season of Tulsa King, you can choose between an $8 per month Essential tier and $13 per month Premium tier (formerly the Paramount Plus with Showtime tier). You can also pay for a full year up-front and save some money over paying for 12 months separately. The Essential plan is ad-based, and the Premium plan has no commercials outside of live TV.

This week’s best deals include half off Paramount Plus, Legos, and more

by admin September 13, 2025

It’s September, and many among us are dealing with back to school, and anticipating the colder weather that’s on its way (at least, if you live in the northern climes). This, plus a somewhat fraught political atmosphere, means that you might be looking for reliable, affordable ways to escape the doldrums.

You don’t need us to tell you that a way to do that is by watching some movies and TV shows. Through September 18th, Paramount is offering a doozy of a deal on both tiers of its Plus streaming service. You can save 50 percent on an annual subscription to Paramount Plus Essential, or its mostly ad-free Premium plan. The Essential Plan is down to $29.99 (from $59.99) and a Premium plan goes to $59.99 (from $119.99). The neat thing is that you can take advantage of this whether you’re a new or a returning subscriber (but be careful to mark your calendar; it will renew after that year at full price).

It’s a tempting deal, whether you go for the ad-supported Essential or the skip-the-ads Premium. The latter also lets you download your shows, which could be very handy when you’re traveling with kids, and from its library of Showtime Originals. Either way, you not only get recent shows like Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the entire Yellowstone catalog, Top Gun: Maverick, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and Bob Marley: One Love, but animation series like South Park and SpongeBob Squarepants, and live NFL games. Also, it hosts every Mission Impossible movie, aside from the latest one, The Final Reckoning.

Get one year of Paramount+ for $30, plus save on YouTubeTV, Disney+ and more

by admin September 4, 2025

Whether you’re a true cord-cutter or you just want to watch the next season of Stranger Things when it drops, everyone’s on the lookout for streaming deals nowadays. Plenty have chosen VOD and live TV streaming services over traditional cable in recent years, but the savings that choice got you just a few years ago have somewhat evaporated now. Companies like Netflix, Disney, Max and others have been consistently raising prices to the point where you may question if streaming is even worth it anymore.

We at Engadget still think so, for many reasons, but you can (and should) be smart with your money at the same time. Streaming deals are an option, even if they don’t come around with the same regularity as discounts on AirPods do. If you’re looking to save money and still stream all of the content you want, Engadget can help by laying out the best streaming deals you can get right now, how you can save with bundles and everything you should know before paying for yet another streaming service.

Best streaming deals

True streaming deals can be hard to come by. Most often, they’ll pop up during the Black Friday shopping period. On occasion, we’ll see them sparingly throughout the year and they usually take the form of a discounted monthly or annual rate for a limited period of time. Also, true streaming deals are typically on the ad-supported versions of a service, but once in a while you’ll find a unicorn of a deal on a tier that has ad-free viewing.

If you’re able to wait for a deal before subscribing to a streaming service, we recommend doing so. You’ll save money upfront and in the long run, and you also have the option to cancel your subscription before the price goes back up to the normal rate. Maybe you find you like the service so much that you’re fine paying full price for it — that’s the ideal situation. But if you’re not compelled to keep that app on rotation in your smart TV, most streaming services make it easy for you to cancel at any time. With that said, these are the best streaming deals you can snag right now.

ESPN

Paid for by ESPN

ESPN’s new streaming service is officially available now, and new subscribers can get Disney+ and Hulu included for one year when they sign up. The regular price of the new ESPN Unlimited plan is $30 per month, but this bundle offer throws in Disney+ and Hulu (with ads) for one year at no extra cost. If you want to break it down, you’re essentially getting each of the three services for $10 monthly with this offer.

For the uninitiated, the new ESPN streaming service has two plans. The base level is ESPN Select, which is essentially just ESPN+ under a new name. It includes more than 32,000 live sports events, a library of studio shows, on-demand replays and more for $12 per month.

The premium tier, ESPN Unlimited, ups the ante by providing access to all of ESPN’s linear networks including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes and others, plus programming on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+ and ACCNX. It includes 47,000 live sports events throughout the year, on-demand replays, original programming and more. You can think of it as everything you’d want from cable ESPN, just via streaming now.

$30/month at ESPN

Paramount+ Essential for $30 for one year (50 percent off): New and returning subscribers can get half off one year of Paramount+. That brings the ad-supported Essential plan down to just $30 for the year, and the Premium plan down to $60 for the year. A subscription will give you access to NFL content on CBS and UEFA Champions League, along with shows like South Park, Tulsa King, Tracker, Ghosts and more. The discount runs through September 18.

DirecTV starting at $50/month for one month ($35 off): All of DirecTV’s signature packages are $35 off right now for your first month when you sign up. If you opt for the base “Entertainment” package, you’ll spend $50 for the first month and get access to over 90 channels, including many local stations as well as ESPN, ESPN 2 and Fox Sports 1. You’ll also be able to watch on the go with the DirecTV mobile app.

DashPass Annual + HBO Max (with ads) for $96/year ($144 off): This offer includes access to HBO Max with ads for no extra cost when you sign up for a DashPass Annual plan. You can then decide to upgrade to Max Standard, which removes ads, for a discounted rate of $11 monthly if you want. Aside from the obvious streaming benefits, this deal gives you $0 deliver fees and lower service fees on some restaurant DoorDash orders, five percent DoorDash credits on pickup orders, on-demand grocery delivery and other members-only exclusives.

Spotify Premium Individual (3 month) for $0 ($36 off): This is our favorite music streaming service for podcasts and social features. Right now, users who have not signed up for Spotify’s Premium service before are eligible to get three months for free. The Premium Individual plan lets you listen ad-free and skip songs at will. You can also organize your listening queue and download content for offline listening. Just be aware, your subscription will auto-renew at the end of the trial period. So if you don’t want to be on the hook for the $12 monthly fee, set a reminder to cancel and go back to the free version.

Fubo Pro for $55/month for the first month ($30 off): Fubo has introductory discounts on most of its packages, and the Pro package is the least expensive plan currently listed. It offers access to 224 channels, unlimited cloud DVR and up to 10 simultaneous streams. It even includes regional sports content from the NHL, MLB and NBA.

YouTube TV (three months) for $150 ($99 off): You can get three months of our favorite live TV streaming service for $50 per month. That should give you a decent chunk of time to see if the service is right for you while saving some cash. The discount and trial are only open to new subscribers to YouTube TV’s base plan, which includes access to over 100 channels, unlimited DVR space and six household accounts with the ability to stream on three devices at once.

Sling Orange for $23/month for the first month (50 percent off): New customers can get Sling Orange or Sling Blue for half off the usual price for the first month, bringing the final prices to $23/month and $25.50/month, respectively. Orange is likely best for sports fans, with eight exclusive sports and family channels, while Blue includes 19 exclusive news and entertainment channels. You can get both Orange and Blue access also for half off for one month, or $33 total.

Peacock first responders discount — one year for $48 (50 percent off): Medical professionals and first responders can save 50 percent each year of Peacock. The deal requires annual verification and is open to those who work for either private or public institutions. Peacock has some great stuff to watch, including Poker Face and Killing It and more.

Student discounts on streaming services

HBO Max student discount — subscribe for $5/month (50 percent off): HBO Max offers their ad-supported tier to students for half off the usual rate. You’ll just have to verify that you’re a student through Unidays, and make note that this offer is only good for up to 12 months of service.

Hulu student discount — subscribe for $2/month (75 percent off): Those with a valid student ID can get Hulu’s ad-supported tier for 75 percent off the typical rate. They’ll keep the same sale price for as long as they’re a student as well.

Spotify student discount — Premium + Hulu with ads for $6/month (72 percent off): Spotify’s student offer continues to be one of the best around, giving you access to the Premium tier of the music streamer and Hulu’s ad-supported plan for only $6 monthly. Purchased separately, you’d pay $22 per month for both of the services. Plus, the first month is free when you sign up.

NBA League Pass student discount — one year for $120 (40 percent off): Students can get one year of League Pass for only $10 per month, which includes access to NBA TV and the ability to watch classic and archive games on-demand. On the NBA League Pass website, look for the student discount banner at the top and follow the instructions to verify your student status.

Streaming bundle discounts

There’s more consolidation happening now than ever before in the streaming space, and that means there are more streaming bundle options. These bundles offer you access to more content with one subscription price, but those prices are typically higher than paying for a single service by itself (obviously). It may be tempting to just get the bundle, but if only one of those services in the bundle speaks to you, you’ll spend less overall by just paying for the single service.

Speaking of a deep love for a single streaming service: if all of your favorite shows are on Peacock or the latest releases on HBO Max consistently bring you joy, consider paying for one year upfront. Subscribing with an annual plan usually saves you money in the long term over paying on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, not all streaming services (looking at you, Netflix) have an annual subscription option. Here are some of the best streaming bundles you can get right now.

Max

HBO Max may not technically be under the Disney-Hulu mega-umbrella, but this bundle gives you ad-free viewing across most content in all three services. Download support for offline watching is included, too. Compared to the $52/month you’d pay for these tiers separately, you’ll save 42 percent with this combination.

$30/month at Disney+

Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max bundle with ads for $17/month: Ad-supported HBO Max is included here, along with full, ad-supported access to Disney+ and Hulu. You’ll save 43 percent with this bundle, as opposed to paying for all three services individually.

Disney+ and Hulu Bundle Premium for $20/month: Disney and Hulu offer a few different bundles, which you can view in the drop-down lists under Choose Your Plan. This bundle removes the ads from both Disney+ and Hulu (with the exception of select live and linear content) and allows you to download content for offline viewing. You’ll save 42 percent with this bundle, as opposed to paying for both ad-free tiers individually.

Hulu + Live TV with Disney+ and ESPN+ for $96/month: This streaming bundle amalgamation is a bit confusing but it does offer a lot: you get live TV streaming via Hulu’s service plus access to the following VOD services: Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+. Out of those three, only ESPN+ will have ads.

Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ Bundle Basic for $17/month: You get full access to Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ content with this package, albeit with ads across the board. This bundle price is 46 percent off the total price of all three separate subscriptions.

Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ Bundle Premium for $27/month: Similarly to the Duo bundles, the Premium version of the Trio removes ads from most content in Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+, and you can download content for offline viewing. This price represents a 43-percent savings when compared to paying for all three ad-free tiers separately.

Sling TV + HBO Max starting at $53/month: Sling TV and HBO Max have partnered on a discount that gives new subscribers 50 percent off their first month of Sling TV, plus $5 off monthly when you subscribe to the Sling TV + HBO Max bundle. The standard price for the Sling Blue + HBO Max duo is roughly $58/month, so you’ll get a monthly discount of $5 off that. In addition, for the first month only, you’ll get half off the price of the bundle. The promotion also applies to the Sling Orange & Blue + HBO Max package, which has a standard price of $73/month.

Paramount+ with Showtime for $13/month or $120/year: This includes everything in Paramount+’s Essential plan, except the ads, and also provides access to Showtime content, live CBS streams and download features.

Paramount And Activision Strike Deal To Make Call Of Duty Movie

Paramount And Activision Strike Deal To Make Call Of Duty Movie

by admin September 3, 2025

In the latest “Can’t believe this hasn’t already happened” installment of news, a Call of Duty film is in the works. Paramount, the movie and television studio behind Top Gun: Maverick, Halo, and more, announced today that it struck a deal with Call of Duty publisher Activision to produce a live-action feature-length film.

“Under this milestone partnership, Paramount will develop, produce, and distribute a live-action feature film based on Call of Duty, designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences,” a press release reads. “Both companies are committed to honoring the brand’s rich narrative and distinctive style, promising an authentic and exciting experience for longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

Activision president Rob Kostich writes in the press release that this movie will “honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place” to create an “unforgettable blockbuster movie.” Paramount CEO and chairman David Ellison writes, “We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve.”

There’s no word on which direction this film adaptation of Call of Duty will take, but considering the game series has featured campaigns set during World War 2, the Vietnam War, riffs on the War on Terrorism, as well as fictional modern war campaigns, and stories set in the near future and far future, too, Paramount has plenty to work with.

While waiting to learn more about this movie, check out Game Informer’s preview of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and then check out the cinematic reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which launches on November 14.

Paramount signs deal with Activision to produce live-action Call of Duty movie

by admin September 2, 2025

Paramount has signed a deal with Activision to produce a live-action movie based on its tentpole Call of Duty franchise.

Per Variety, the partnership will see Paramount “develop, produce, and distribute” a feature film based on the 22-year-old franchise, although the valuation of the deal has not been made public.

David Ellison, Paramount chairperson and CEO, said in a statement that he was a “lifelong fan” of the series, adding that getting to adapt it “is truly a dream come true.”

“From the first Allied campaigns in the original Call of Duty, through Modern Warfare and Black Ops, I’ve spent countless hours playing this franchise that I absolutely love,” Ellison said. “Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly.”

“Throughout its history, Call of Duty has captured our imagination with incredible action and intense stories that have brought millions of people together from around the world, and that focus on making incredible Call of Duty games remains unwavering,” added Activision president, Rob Kostich.

“With Paramount, we have found a fantastic partner who we will work with to take that visceral, breathtaking action to the big screen in a defining cinematic moment. The film will honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started.”

There are no further details about the deal or the movie at this time, although it’s thought the partnership encompasses both TV and feature film.

We recently learned that Blumhouse is developing a movie adaptation of indie horror Phasmophobia.

Call of Duty film adaptation officially in the works from Paramount

by admin September 2, 2025

A live-action film adaptation of Call of Duty is in the works at Paramount, having signed a deal with Activision Blizzard.

Paramount – now under media company Skydance – has announced the news (thanks Deadline), with CEO David Ellison a big fan of the series. Activision will be a creative partner on the film.

“As a lifelong fan of Call of Duty this is truly a dream come true,” said Ellison. “From the first Allied campaigns in the original Call of Duty, through Modern Warfare and Black Ops, I’ve spent countless hours playing this franchise that I absolutely love. Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honour and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly.”

The film will follow the studio’s 2022 film Top Gun: Maverick. “We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve,” continued Ellison.

“I can promise that we are resolute in our mission to deliver a cinematic experience that honours the legacy of this one-in-a-million brand – thrilling longtime fans of Call of Duty while captivating a whole new generation.”

President of Activision Rob Kostich added: “Throughout its history, Call of Duty has captured our imagination with incredible action and intense stories that have brought millions of people together from around the world, and that focus on making incredible Call of Duty games remains unwavering. With Paramount, we have found a fantastic partner who we will work with to take that visceral, breathtaking action to the big screen in a defining cinematic moment. The film will honour and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started. Our shared goal is quite simple – to create an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that our community loves, and one that also excites and inspires new fans of the franchise.”

Call of Duty is ripe for a cinematic adaptation, both for its action-packed setpieces and millions of sales.

It will follow other game adaptations in recent years, including Nintendo’s multiple projects, Sony’s The Last of Us TV show, FromSoftware’s massive Elden Ring, classic Sega racing game OutRun, and horror games like Phasmophobia and The Medium.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.
