Dropout’s Dirty Laundry season 5 trailer is packed with cast favorites

by admin June 25, 2025

Secrets and stories run amok in the new trailer for season 5 of Dirty Laundry, Dropout’s alcohol-infused talk show where contestants reveal truths that can only be willingly shared by the inebriated. One guest admits to a cat kidnapping while another says, “my grandfather’s dick is crazy,” so that should give you an idea of what’s made the past four seasons so hilarious when the show returns Tuesday, July 15.

Dirty Laundry is a gamified talk show as host Lily Du reveals secrets from the episode’s guests, who must then deduce to whom the secret belongs in order to earn a point. All the while bartender Grant O’Brien — who’s got plenty of salacious stories of his own — mixes up cocktails for the guests to sip on.

The season’s slate of guests include a mix of comedians and social media influencers as Aparna Nacherla, Reggie Watts, Paul Scheer, Shane Madej, Elyse Meyers, Ryan Bergara and The Try Guys’ Keith Habersberger and Zach Kornfeld are all set to sip and share. The trailer also shows plenty of familiar faces Dropout fans will recognize, like Emily Axford, Izzy Roland, and Jake Wysocki. Like Um, Actually’s viewer-submitted questions, Dirty Laundry will also include fan-submitted secrets.

Clockwork Revolution Xbox Showcase 2025 Trailer – YouTube

Watch On

Sunday’s Xbox Games Showcase was pretty stacked, but one game stood out from the crowd with a five-and-a-half minute preview: Clockwork Revolution, the steampunk RPG shooter from the studio behind Wasteland 3 and Torment: Tides of Numenera.

It’s got all the brash humor I’ve come to expect from inXile in the most ambitious-looking game it’s done yet. Whether the team hits the mark, I’m not sure I care right now: the ideas they’re working with are so bold, they have my full attention.

On the surface, Clockwork Revolution looks like an RPG-ified, steampunk take on BioShock. Combat is all elaborate brass guns, grenades that shoot out bolts of electricity, and a magic glove that comes with all sorts of time-warping powers. They give some examples in the trailer: bullet time, a personal rewind a la Overwatch’s Tracer, and the power to rebuild a crumbled stack of bricks in the environment for use as cover. The gunplay implications are well and good, but the time travel also saw narrative play in ways that left me dying to know more.

There’s a quick flyby of a spot in Avalon that repeats a few times, but the scene is different with each replay. Different banners fly, statues of different people tower over a town square, and the narrator remarks he can “go back in time to change the past, to change the future.”

It’s possible these are canned set pieces along a linear path, but inXile promises that “choices will have a butterfly effect” on the world and its characters. Mixing an open-ended choice-and-consequence RPG with time travel seems almost irresponsibly daring, but what galls me is the trailer had even more to say. It was a full five-and-a-half minutes, after all.

There’s a glimpse at character creation, kitted out with as many different stats and character backgrounds as suitably huge mustaches. We also get a look at a weapon modding interface, a glut of glossy story cutscenes, dialog trees, and newspaper headlines that shift with the changing story.

The shootouts I mentioned earlier looked to be no slouch either, and there were some brief platforming segments where the time-bending was used to slow down hazards. I shouldn’t be surprised that inXile is taking a big swing—Wasteland 3 is one of the slicker CRPGs in recent memory—but the extent to which Clockwork Revolution aims for the fences has me pretty tantalized. I’m a little worried it’s trying to do too much, but I’d rather a game be messy and exciting than dull and safe.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

If Clockwork Revolution piques your interest, it’s available to wishlist on Steam, though its current release window is “in due time.”

Paralives, the long-anticipated indie Sims-like, finally announces an early access release date, adding to 2025’s already packed life sim line-up

by admin June 9, 2025

It’s been almost exactly six years since developer Alex Massé (of PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator fame) announced his indie life sim Paralives; now, the game finally has an early access release date, courtesy of its appearance at last night’s PC Gaming Show at Summer Game Fest. And, as promised, it’s going to be coming out this year – although you’re going to have to wait until December 8 to get your hands on this painterly Sims-like.

The project originated as a solo effort from Massé, but the Paralives team has now expanded to around a dozen developers, supported by a Patreon that pulls in around $30K a month from fans eager to see a serious indie rival to EA’s long-running The Sims franchise.

Paralives clearly takes a lot of cues from the life sim giant that’s been doing the rounds for a full quarter-century now, and long-time Simmers will be on familiar footing when they encounter the core gameplay loop. But there’s plenty to recommend Paralives on its own merits, from its softly stylised art style that advertises its crowd-pleasing cosiness, to its back-to-basics approach to life simulation that aims for loving detail over expansive scope.

The release date trailer confirmed my suspicions that Paralives could well be considered a spiritual successor to earlier generations of The Sims, focusing on daily life in an impossibly gorgeous little town where the architecture and decor of aspirational yet lived-in family homes take centre-stage. Paralives also seems very grounded – there’s no sign of the urban fantasy themes that frequently slip into The Sims (which I love, for the record, but recognise that not every Simmer does) – with trailers focussing on that ideal of middle-class suburbia that was a hallmark of The Sims back in the day.

Grab a coffee with friends, go to yoga class, play catch with your adorable two-point-five kids on your well-manicured lawn, and then have a sobbing breakdown in the bathroom once the family’s in bed – this is surely the dream of adulthood that was sold to me when the life sim genre first hit it big at the turn of the millennium.

Massé’s team have previously asserted that they plan to keep Paralives add-ons free for all players – in stark contrast to EA’s practice of expanding The Sims with countless paid DLCs at various price points – and although they haven’t yet outlined exactly how they plan to do this, it’s reasonable to suspect that some kind of early access deal for Patrons might be part of the plan.

Paralives isn’t the only life sim in the news this week, as fellow Sims rival inZOI has emerged from hiding to announce a release date for its first major content update since its launch; the update finally remembers to properly enable same-gender romance (just in time for Pride Month!) as well as the much-anticipated arrival of mod support. And The Sims 4 itself hasn’t been quiet either, releasing a summer content roadmap teasing the long-awaited return of fairies in the new Enchanted By Nature expansion pack that’s being officially revealed this month, too.
