Maple Finance Hits $4B AUM, Overtakes BlackRock’s BUIDL1

by admin September 17, 2025

Onchain asset manager Maple Finance has surpassed BlackRock’s BUIDL fund to become the largest in the sector, with its Assets Under Management (AUM) approaching $4 billion. The growth is largely driven by strong institutional demand for its yield-bearing stablecoin, syrupUSD, and recent expansions to new blockchain networks.

The surge in assets highlights a significant trend in decentralized finance (DeFi), according to Maple Finance CEO and co-founder Sid Powell. “The majority of Maple’s growth is being driven by institutional credit demand,” Powell stated, noting a pivot in the market. “It’s a shift away from opportunistic strategies toward a more stable, credit-driven yield base.”

The protocol’s investor deposits, which now stand at $3.8 billion, generate yield by providing capital to crypto-native businesses such as prime brokers, trading firms, and Bitcoin miners.

Expansion and Incentives Fuel Growth

Maple upgraded its services to the new blockchain, accelerating the company’s  growth. At the beginning of September, the protocol deployed on Arbitrum to participate in its $40 million DRIP reward scheme. More recently, on September 15, Maple launched syrupUSD on the new layer-2 network, Plasma. The launch included a $200 million pre-deposit vault, which was filled within 24 hours and offers exclusive rewards to early liquidity providers.

The total amount of money deposited into all DeFi lending systems has reached a new all-time high of almost $135 billion. Powell talked a lot about how Maple’s model is sustainable, saying that its yield is based on “real credit demand, not by circular activity or opaque leverage.” He also said, “We’re moving from experimental protocols toward durable financial rails that can support billions of dollars in capital.”

Maple Finance’s milestone signals a maturing onchain credit market and growing institutional confidence in DeFi-native yield products. By providing stable, credit-driven returns sourced from real-world business operations, Maple is demonstrating a sustainable alternative to the volatile and often speculative yields that characterized earlier DeFi cycles.

The company wants to have $5 billion in AUM by the end of the year. If it succeeds, it could encourage bigger names in finance to get involved with decentralized asset management.

Kai Cenat overtakes Ninja to become second most followed streamer on Twitch

by admin September 14, 2025

Kai Cenat has passed Ninja to become the second most followed streamer on Twitch, hitting the milestone during his third and final Mathiathon.

Mathiathon 3 has been another historic event for Cenat, as he has set his sights on being the first streamer to reach 1 million Twitch subscribers. With more than half the month still remaining, he has already amassed nearly 440,000 active subs, putting him on pace to set another benchmark for the platform.

The most followed spot on Twitch has long been a symbol of dominance on the site. Ninja first rose to the top during Fortnite’s global peak, but Ibai eventually surpassed him and has held the lead ever since. Cenat’s climb into second place pushes Ninja into third for the first time.

Kai Cenat bumps Ninja out of second most followed spot

As of September 2025, Ibai leads Twitch with about 19.76 million followers. Cenat now holds around 19.27 million, just ahead of Ninja’s 19.23 million. The surge came in the middle of Mathiathon 3, where Cenat’s marathon-style broadcast once again delivered a massive wave of growth.

Cenat’s latest milestone leaves him less than half a million followers away from Ibai at the top. With Mathiathon 3 still underway and his channel growing rapidly, first place now looks to be within his reach if the momentum continues through the rest of September.

Ethereum Staking Queue Overtakes Exits as Fears of a Sell-off Subside

by admin September 6, 2025

Ethereum’s validator entry queue has surged past the exit queue for the first time in weeks, signaling renewed demand to stake ether (ETH) just as fears of a major sell-off subside.

At the time of writing, 932,936 ETH ($4 billion) sits in the entry queue compared with 791,405 ETH ($3.3 billion) in the exit queue, according to validatorque.com data. Three weeks ago, the exit queue stood at 816,000 ETH, leading to concerns over whether the market would be able to absorb sell pressure once the tokens were unlocked.

The turnaround was fueled in part by an Ethereum ICO participant who resurfaced after eight years of dormancy. The long-term holder moved 150,000 ETH ($645 million) into staking earlier this week.

The investor originally bought 1,000,000 ETH for just $310,000 during Ethereum’s 2014 token sale. Even after staking, the wallet retains 105,000 ETH ($451 million) across two wallets, with the bulk of his holdings untouched.

Ether has been down by around 4% since Aug. 15, when the exit queue hit 816,000, hardly the sell-off that many predicted despite a wider market pullback. During the same period, BTC was down by 7%, while several altcoins experienced double-digit declines.

Long-term bet

Ethereum’s proof-of-stake system continues to act as both a release valve and an attractor of capital. While last month’s exits reflected nervousness, today’s entry queue flip highlights confidence in long-term staking rewards and potential structural demand from ETFs.

As DeFi analyst Ignas noted in August: “While the unstaking queue is at ATH, so are ETF inflows.”

Now, with exits cooling and entries surging, the balance may be tilting back toward staking as a long-term bet on Ethereum’s growth.

The white metal is currently experiencing yet another breakout alongside gold, recently surging by nearly 3%. This comes after the Saudi Central Bank recently revealed fresh investments in silver-linked ETFs.

The yellow metal is so far up by 13% against BTC, proving to be a way safer “safe haven” bet compared to the original cryptocurrency.

“History suggests the rock is poised to keep outperforming, particularly if the US stock market weakens,” McGlone said in a recent social media post.
