Caedrel weighs in on LoL’s new WASD option

League of Legends will introduce WASD movement controls in a future patch, with the intent of revitalizing the game’s core mechanics and making it more accessible for traditional PC gamers who want to transition to the MOBA genre.

While League players will have to wait a bit longer to try it themselves when it hits the PBE, several esports pros and popular streamers, including Caedrel, tested the feature during MSI 2025 in Canada.

“You can kite very easily as an AD carry. If you play on WASD, you’ve already got Master to Grandmaster-level spacing,” Caedrel said during a livestream, explaining that players can hold the A and S movement keys while right-clicking enemies to maintain optimal distance. He also revealed that he had bound his Q ability to the left mouse button, giving players more context on how ability keybindings might work with the new control scheme.

While AD carries felt “powerful” to play thanks to how easy skillshots were to land, the streamer said there also seemed to be a level of aim assist tied to player movement. He pointed to Ezreal’s EQ combo as an example, where the Prodigal Explorer blinks forward to close the gap and hits the target, which felt somewhat choreographed.

The developer mentioned in its WASD controls blog that it will be monitoring the feature closely to ensure it remains balanced and that neither control scheme offers a competitive advantage over the other. There’s a chance it might even be removed before it hits the PBE server.

Of course, WASD controls come with a few downsides as well. Caedrel said that since WASD movement only allows players to move in eight directions, jungle clearings can be slower than usual. Jungle clears are all about speed and maximizing time to level up and help the team secure an early advantage, so in its current form, WASD might not be the preferred choice for junglers. It is also difficult to check the map, especially while using the F keys, forcing the player to lock their camera, decreasing their map awareness.

He also suggested that “foot pedals” could be an option for players who want to bind a specific button or summoner spell, freeing up more keys on the keyboard. Another idea he proposed was for the developer to adapt WASD controls to work more naturally with the mouse for skill-based champions like Kalista, adding greater directional movement and potentially solving the slow jungle clear issue to make the system more effective.

Caedrel is the owner of the Los Ratones team, a squad filled with veterans from the League esports scene, who are competing in the NLC and EUM tournaments.

Commodore community buyout plans

Commodore shocks retro TechTuber with option to buy ‘the whole company’

by admin June 9, 2025

Retro tech tuber Perifractic has released an intriguing video dubbed Can We Save Commodore? My Biggest Project Yet! During the video, we hear that the reason for the channel host’s recent absence is rather dramatic – he is attempting to buy Commodore, and thus bring it back into the hands of its fans. Ultimately, this will mean a whole host of new Commodore branded and ‘chicken head’ logo-bearing products that the community believes pass muster to be worthy of the official marque.

Can We Save COMMODORE? My Biggest Project Yet! – YouTube

Watch On

The above video at Retro Recipes is just part 1 of a series, and ends with a very big tease. Nevertheless, it is pretty interesting for retro fans to hear about the chance of a beloved brand of old being rejuvenated – and not just for a cash grab (fingers crossed).

After an intro, a brief history of Commodore, and talk about the achievements of the retro community up to this point, Perifractic starts to outline his plan. The blockbuster success with his earlier passion project, the Commodore 64x PC, inspired the retro tech tuber to believe that “the love is definitely still there for the brand and for new Commodore computers.”

Starting to outline the plan, Perifractic explains that to begin, efforts should be made to “negotiate an exclusive license with Commodore.” This would honor the company legacy, deliver fairer pricing for the community, and provide QC-tested branded Commodore machines, official upgrades, and official replacement parts.

Next, the video broached the potentially thorny issue of funding in situations like this where crowdfunding isn’t possible. The current owners of Commodore Corporation B.V. aren’t going to give away licenses or the brand for peanuts. Thus, Perifractic directs viewers of the video to an outreach form, and asks angel investors to get in touch. Don’t worry about checking out the form, all it does is give Retro Recipes a way to get in touch about updates. However, you can also use parts of the form to indicate if you are interested in any investments, partnerships, licensing, or other business matters.

‘The Plan’ video chapter suggests that the goal was to negotiate a great community licensing program, where the community pays a modest flat 6.4% to use the brand for products that pass QC.

Commodore responded with an unexpected offer

Right at the end of the video, there is a twist that may raise the graying eyebrows of Commodore fans around the globe. Perifractic reveals that he received a message direct from Commodore Corporation B.V. that states “yes we can grant you an exclusive license, but your team seems to know Commodore better than we do, we might like to sell you the whole company.”

Sadly, we are left with this cliffhanger. Viewers are told to stay tuned for Part 2 of this video, “live and Let Buy.” But we don’t have a date for the video publication. Stay tuned, indeed.

Elden Ring Nightreign director says Fromsoft "kind of overlooked and neglected" playing as a duo, but 2 player-friendly "post-launch support" is being considered
Game Updates

Couples afraid of being third-wheeled rejoice, FromSoftware might add in a duos option to Elden Ring Nightreign

by admin May 25, 2025

You know what the main thing that’s holding me back from picking up Elden Ring Nightreign at launch is? The fact it doesn’t have an option for duos. For the most part I’m a single-player only kind of person, and when I play something online I normally like to do so with just my partner. I imagine I’m not the only person this applies to, nor am I likely to be the only one who thought “I don’t really want some rando called xX_fartmaster_Xx third wheeling my partner and me.” Luckily, FromSoftware seem to be at least considering a two-player option for the upcoming Soulslike.

Game director Junya Ishizaki recently spoke with IGN about the things he learned under Elden Ring’s director Hidetaka Miyazaki. It’s a great interview, but the main thing we’re concerned with here is Ishizaki’s comments on not having a two-player option. When asked why the option was omitted, Ishizaki quite plainly said that “the simple answer is that this is simply something that was overlooked during development as just a two-player option, so we’re very sorry about that.

“As we said before, we set out to make this a multiplayer co-op game for three players, balanced for three players, so that was the main focus and it’s at the core of Nightreign. Of course, I myself as a player understand that and often want times where I’m just playing myself, so this is something that we considered from the start.”

Ishizaki went on to say that the team put a lot of effort into making something enjoyable and playable for solo players. However, because they were so focused on that, they “kind of overlooked and neglected the duos aspect.” However! The director did also say that a duos mode “is something that we are looking at and considering for post-launch support as well.”

Considering it is good enough for me for now! Here’s hoping the update comes before that Elden Ring movie that’s in the works that I’m pretending doesn’t exist.
