CoD devs announce more iconic Black Ops 2 maps will return in Black Ops 7

by admin September 10, 2025

Treyarch have confirmed that there are more remastered Black Ops 2 maps coming to Black Ops 7 after Raid, Express, and Hijacked.

Remaking and remastering fan-favorite maps is something that Call of Duty developers have been doing for a while. Modern Warfare 3 (2023) even went a step further and only launched with remastered maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009).

The nostalgia hit of an older map is what some fans look forward to, especially when it is something that hasn’t been redone for a while. So, when it was announced that Raid, Express, and Hijacked would be coming to Black Ops 7, CoD fans were delighted.

Raid has, of course, been redone a few times, and we’ve seen Express return, but Hijacked hasn’t. However, there are other Black Ops 2 classics still to follow.

BO7 devs confirm more Black Ops 2 maps to come

During their September 9 developer update, Treyarch’s Matt Scronce and Brittany Pirello confirmed that more remastered maps are going to be added.

“We are going to get some more Black Ops 2 remasters. I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, but I have been reading the replies and some of you have guessed correctly,” Scornce teased.

Pirello then confirmed that there will be remastered maps in the Call of Duty League. “So, you’ve already seen Raid and Express, and we are expecting to have some more coming out post-launch,” she added.

The team’s here to talk MP maps in our new Dev Talk video, including:

Scornce continued that there have to be conversations with the CDL over what maps could be in the competitive pool, but noted that one map is returning for the first time since Black Ops 2.

“I will say that one of the ones that is coming back for the first time since Black Ops 2 was a competitive map in Black Ops 2. It was played in Search and Destroy, and I’ll leave you with that little teaser,” he said.

Pirello also teased the return of Yemen, quoting OpTic Gaming’s Seth ‘Scump’ Abner’s iconic “Who’s the best in the game?” callout.

More Black Ops 2 Maps Teased For Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7

by admin September 8, 2025

Ahead of Black Ops 7’s November release, Treyarch dropped a brief video to answer some questions about the game’s multiplayer. The developer discussed some of the movement changes coming to Call of Duty in Black Ops 7 as well as teased more remastered maps from 2012’s Black Ops 2.

A lot of popular Call of Duty maps have been remastered over the years, and Black Ops 7 is already confirmed to have three at launch. Raid, Hijacked, and Express return this year, but they’ve all been remastered in previous Black Ops games, leaving fans eager for different maps to appear.

When asked if players can get some Black Ops 2 remasters that have never been seen before, Treyarch design director Matt Scronce simply answered, “Yes, you can.”

Maps like Yemen and Plaza have been highly requested over the years, so hopefully these locations will finally return to Call of Duty as remastered maps in Black Ops 7.

Scronce also discussed the movement for Black Ops 7 multiplayer. The developer re-confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 doesn’t feature jet packs or wall-running mechanics. Instead, the game includes redefined omnimovement with a wall-jump ability, which can be chained together for up to three jumps.

“On that second and third jump, you’re going to lose a little bit of momentum,” Scronce explained. “We honestly want to make sure people aren’t ping ponging around the maps.”

Activision recently revealed that the previously announced Carry Forward program for Black Ops 7 has been cancelled, mostly. Weapons, operator skins, and other cosmetics from Black Ops 6 will no longer transfer to Black Ops 7. Only double XP tokens and GobbleGums will continue to carry forward.

You’ll be able to try out the game’s multiplayer next month, as detailed in our guide on how to get access to the Black Ops 7 beta.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches on November 14 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. You can find highlights of all major Black Ops 7 announcements here, which includes details on an endgame for the campaign, a massive round-based Zombies map, and a futuristic design for multiplayer.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reduces File Size, Causes Problems For Players

by admin September 6, 2025

File optimization for large games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 sounds like good idea, especially when more space is needed on consoles. The latest Black Ops 6 update went live this week and it appears to have significantly shrunk the file size. It’s also caused issues with some players and seemingly deleted the game from their systems.

A member of GameSpot’s staff shared screenshots that demonstrated a drop from 222.1 GB before the update to 122.8 GB afterwards.

On top is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 file size before the update, and the new file size is shown below.

However, there are multiple reports from players on Reddit that the update deleted Black Ops 6 from their consoles. The update apparently removed Black Ops 6’s core installation and left behind the Call of Duty HQ launcher, which takes up a lot less space. Black Ops 6 can still be reinstalled alongside download content packs and the multiplayer suite. But given the large amount of added content purchased and downloaded by players since the game’s debut, the amount of file size reduction might vary from player to player.

PlayStation 5 players: with today’s Call of Duty update, you need to go to Mange Installs and re-install Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Pack.
The pack is 98GB download, but will only take up 27GB on the console after install. pic.twitter.com/VRA2IBeZcl

— CharlieIntel (@charlieINTEL) September 4, 2025

The Version 1.080 update also includes aspects that may be more well-received, including bug fixes, balancing tweaks, a new multiplayer map, and more modes like Reckoning Directed for zombies.

Some fans were recently upset to learn that the Carry Forward option for weapon and operator skins purchased in Black Ops 6 won’t be carried over to Black Ops 7. And the life cycle for Black Ops 6 is winding down now that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to launch on November 14 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Fan-favorite Black Ops 6 perk completely broken in Season 5 Reloaded

by admin September 5, 2025

One of Black Ops 6’s must-use perks is actually broken following the Season 5 Reloaded update, and Call of Duty fans aren’t pleased.

Call of Duty has always had a meta in some form or another in multiplayer. Everyone remembers the Heartbeat Sensor and Commando Pro from Modern Warfare 2 (2009), while more recent examples include the DMR, Grau, and DMR in Warzone.

Black Ops 6 has, of course, fallen into different metas at times too. The seasonal updates are meant to provide shifts in those popular choices with balancing adjustments. However, it doesn’t always work out like that.

Article continues after ad

Season 5 Reloaded has brought out some changes, but one unexpected tweak has fallen the way of Ninja. The perk wasn’t touched in the new update, but has become “broken” for a number of fans.

Ninja perk broken in Black Ops 6

Since the new update, which went live on September 3, players have reported that the perk no longer gives you silent footsteps when moving around the map.

Article continues after ad

“Completely broken. Playing some ridiculous S&D matches right now,” one fan said. “for some strange reason on all my weapon classes my ninja perk is like defective, im still able to hear my footsteps,” another reported.

Article continues after ad

“Not hopping back on until this is fixed, the maps don’t play very well without ninja,” complained another. “Something is wrong with footsteps for sure. At first, I thought it was Ninja not working, but I think teammates footsteps are louder too?” another chimed in.

As it stands, the Call of Duty devs have not flagged the issue on their CODUpdates page or their Trello board. Yet, that hasn’t stopped fans from asking for a fix.

“The perk can still be equipped but fails to function as intended (acting as if you don’t have it). Unclear how long the issue will last,” one fan said.

Others have claimed that Flak Jacket is also not working as intended, but it also hasn’t been flagged for a change in the patch notes.

All buffs & nerfs in Warzone & Black Ops 6 Season 5 Reloaded

by admin September 4, 2025

Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded brings plenty of major weapons buffs and nerfs, shaking up the meta across both games.

The Season 5 Reloaded update has arrived, and it’s yet another big content drop for both games. Not only does it add new maps and modes, it also comes with the Nuketown Block Party event and a powerful new attachment for the PPSh-41.

On top of all that, as always, it also includes substantial weapon balancing changes that are looking to keep the meta feeling fresh. So, here are all of the buffs and nerfs in the mid-season update.

CoD fans mourn popular skin after big Black Ops 7 carry forward change

by admin August 28, 2025

Call of Duty fans are going to miss one fan-favorite skin in Black Ops 7 after it was announced that skins from Black Ops 6 will not carry forward.

Over the last few years, Call of Duty players have gotten increasingly vocal about their dislike of some of the cartoony skins that have started populating the games.

Rather than crossovers with Beavis and Butthead, American Dad, and even Godzilla, they want more realistic and military skins added to the mix. With Black Ops 7’s release on the horizon, it has been announced that cosmetics from Black Ops 6 won’t be carried forward.

Article continues after ad

“Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting. That is why Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7,” the devs said. Warzone, however, will be unaffected by this.

Black Ops fans will miss The Replacer skin in BO7

The change has been somewhat celebrated by fans. Many are hopeful that the apparent switch to be more “authentic” will deliver them what they’ve been asking for, while others fear cosmetic sales will become rampant.

However, some are going to miss pretty popular skins. “RIP The Replacer,” Redditor ILoveKetchup402 said, mourning the inability to use it in Black Ops 7. “RIPlacer,” another added.

“I absolutely despise Beavis & Butthead, unicorns, cartoons etc. I just wanted to use my replacer, t800, ballerina,” another commented. “That’s what pissed me off about the switch. I bought The Replacer skin because I thought I would be able to use him in both games,” another said.

Others quipped that the devs will simply re-release popular skins so fans have to fork out again.

“Don’t worry, The Replacer will be replaced by the new The Replacer,” one joked.

As noted, skins purchased in Black Ops 6 will still be usable in Warzone. So, you’re not losing them for good. They just won’t be in normal multiplayer games.

Black Ops 7 carry forward is no more as devs axe old skins and promise a return to a more ‘grounded’ Call of Duty

by admin August 27, 2025

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will no longer have carry forward
  • The feature would have allowed you to use some Black Ops 6 unlocks in the game
  • The change was confirmed in a developer blog post

Activision has confirmed that you will not be able to access operators, skins, and weapons from Black Ops 6 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

The feature, known as carry forward, was previously going to give players the ability to use select content from Black Ops 6 in the upcoming entry. Although some fans appreciated the option to bring forward their favorite unlocks, many were concerned that this would undermine the identity of the new game.

I was personally pretty disappointed with the news that carry forward would be present given the disparate settings of the two titles. While Black Ops 6 is set in the 1990s, Black Ops 7 takes place in 2035 – so running around with Gulf War era gear wouldn’t make a lot of sense.

The news of the decision was announced in a community update blog post, where the developers discuss the top frankly.

“We know there’s been a lot of conversation recently about the identity of Call of Duty. Some of you have said we’ve drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded,” it read. “That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously.”

“Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting. That is why Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7,” it continued.

Importantly your current stock of Double XP tokens and GobbleGums will still carry over into Black Ops 7, which is good news for those aiming to progress as quickly as possible on day one.

Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.

Warzone and Black Ops 6 is also not affected, so you don’t need to worry about losing access to any of your current content.

The post also explained that the developers had heard feedback on in-game bundles, which some players found a little too outlandish in Black Ops 6.

“In Black Ops 7, bundles and items will be crafted to fit the Black Ops identity,” the post stated. “We hear the feedback. We need to deliver a better balance toward the immersive, core Call of Duty experience.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to release is set to release on November 14, 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.

Black Ops 7 u-turns on Black Ops 6 Carry Forward just days after announcing it because of the massive backlash

by admin August 27, 2025

Activision has made a major announcement regarding a particular feature in this year’s Call of Duty, Black Ops 7. The game, which had its full reveal at gamescom just one week ago, will no longer support Carry Forward.

Carry Forward is a feature that allows players to bring Black Ops 6 weapons, operators, skins and other cosmetics with them to the new game. Unfortunately, that’s made it more difficult for players to be excited about the upcoming game.

While Carry Forward is something that would typically be celebrated for respecting the players’ legacy and time spent, it has gained an especially negative connotation. Over the course of Black Ops 6’s lifespan, Activision continued to deviate from the original art style and look of the game by introducing more cross-over and cartoony skins, which have practically turned it into Fortnite.

Since it was confirmed for Black Ops 7, fan reaction online has been overwhelmingly negative. The decision to drop the feature just a week after it was announced was made in a blog post that specifically points to that fan response. It also acknowledges that the series may have deviated from that cohesive look.

“We know there’s been a lot of conversation recently about the identity of Call of Duty,” the post reads.

“Some of you have said we’ve drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded. That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously. We hear you.”

I wouldn’t call this the most ‘authentic’ either… | Image credit: Treyarch, Raven, Activision.

What that means in practice is that Black Ops 6 weapons, operators – and crucially, operator skins, will not be available for use in Black Ops 7. This won’t affect Warzone, however, as the battle royale mode will continue to have continuity with previous games. Double XP tokens and GobbleGums are exempt from this, and will be the only items to carry forward to the new game.

The blog post also confirms that Black Ops 7 store bundles will be “crafted to fit the Black Ops identity.”

“We need to deliver a better balance toward the immersive, core Call of Duty experience,” it adds.

Before Black Ops 7’s launch on November 14, we’re getting a new edition of Call of Duty: Next on September 30, where multiplayer will be shown off for the first time. A few days afterwards, the Black Ops 7 beta will kick off.

Black Ops 7 Carry Forward, explained

by admin August 26, 2025

A new Call of Duty game is on the horizon yet again, and it’s another direct sequel to the previous title.

Black Ops 7 will launch on Nov. 14, 2025, and Black Ops 6 players are eager to know what kind of content will be moving to the new game as party of the Carry Forward system that Call of Duty has been using of late.

Here’s everything there is to know about BO7 Carry Forward.

Black Ops 7 Carry Forward

Image via Activision

What is Carry Forward in BO7?

Traditionally, CoD games have all been independent from each other. But in recent years, the Carry Forward program allowed certain content to transfer between titles, such as Modern Warfare II operators and unlocks being playable in Modern Warfare III in 2022 and 2023, respectively. They have also been usable in Warzone, as well.

Black Ops 6 to Black Ops 7 will have a similar Carry Forward program, but with some specific restrictions.

What BO6 content transfers to BO7?

Image via Activision

The only content that will transfer to BO7 from BO6 via Carry Forward is Double XP tokens and GobbleGums. The rest of the content from BO6 will stay available in BO6 and Warzone, but not be available in BO7.

This means that any operators, operator skins, or weapons bought or unlocked in BO6 will not transfer to BO7. Activision said that this is because BO7 “needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting” in a community announcement on Aug. 26, 2025.

“We know there’s been a lot of conversation recently about the identity of Call of Duty,” Activision said. “Some of you have said we’ve drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded. That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously. We hear you.”

This means collab skins like Beavis & Butthead, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Squid Game will remain in BO6 and Warzone but not be available in BO7.

Call Of Duty Responds To Ugly Skins By Making A Big Change To Black Ops 7

by admin August 26, 2025

Activision and Treyarch are making a big change to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, just under 12 weeks before its launch in November. All those wacky cosmetics from Black Ops 6 will no longer carry over to the new sequel as previously promised. The devs behind Call of Duty say the change is to ensure Black Ops 7 is “authentic to Call of Duty and its setting.”

On August 26, in a lengthy community update posted on the official Call of Duty website, Treyarch thanked fans for all the feedback and acknowledged the ongoing conversation online surrounding crossover skins and wacky cosmetic items in video games.

“We know there’s been a lot of conversation recently about the identity of Call of Duty,” said the studio. “Some of you have said we’ve drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded. That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously. We hear you.”

Players were worried that the weird cosmetics and crossover skins from Black Ops 6 would immediately turn Black Ops 7 into a Fortnite-like experience. That’s because the plan was to let skins from BLOPS 6, which now includes characters like Beavis and Butt-Head, carry over to BLOPS 7. But that’s no longer happening.

“Operators, Operator Skins, and Weapons from Black Ops 6 will no longer carry forward into Black Ops 7,” announced Treyarch. “Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting. That is why Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7. Double XP tokens and GobbleGums will still carry forward, because we recognize your time and progression are important.”

The developers of Black Ops 7 also claimed that a “ton of feedback” has already been implemented into the game. And the studio explained that future cosmetic bundles and items added to BLOPS 7 will be “crafted to fit the Black Ops identity.” Treyarch further added: “We hear the feedback. We need to deliver a better balance toward the immersive, core Call of Duty experience.”

Activision did confirm that BLOPS 6 skins will still move over to Warzone. So your strange collection of characters can still go enjoy battle royale.
