There was really only one way to enhance the prospect of an Antarctic open world game with a choice of playable penguins that’s actually a fractious retelling of Lovecraft’s Mountains of Madness, created by the developers of Umurangi Generation. And that one way was to hire Lenval Brown, narrator for Disco Elysium’s special edition, to voice the first proper trailer. And also, make the trailer look a lot like John Carpenter’s The Thing. No further words from me are needed or desired. Find the footage below.

I have been informed by management that being a website editor, I am contractually obliged to provide further words. So be it! Announced in June, Penguin Colony is a short narrative adventure in which an explorer thrown outside Time by the Old Ones seeks aid by possessing or manipulating the local penguins. You will slide and slip around the surface of the bergs and also, travel deep beneath the ice, which is generally not a great place to be in anything Lovecraftian.


This being a game from the people behind Umurangi Generation, a brilliant political artwork which deals in themes of decolonization from the perspective of a Māori shutterbug, I imagine there will be some critique of Lovecraft’s notions about foreign parts and people. I don’t have the linguistic knowledge to confirm this, but based on some quick online research, part of the trailer also appears to be voiced in Māori.


The last penguin game I had the pleasure of was Faaast Penguin, which Brendy (RPS in peace) summarised as “that Super Mario 64 level where you race a penguin except now the penguin is 39 other players”. There are no Old Ones in Faaast Penguin, but it did launch almost exactly a year ago to the day – a temporal alignment that surely reflects the dire intervention of some cosmic Cthulhuin or Penghulu, tracing cryptic sentences with its immense pygostyle (tail bone) upon the snows of unreality.


While researching penguin anatomy in order to construct that stupid skit about the penguin god, I discovered that a “penguin diagram” is also some kind of quantum field McGuffin referring to the “flavours” of “quarks”. Coincidence? None of this is coincidence, foolish child! The universe is ending and Lenval Brown is here to preside over the collapse. Let’s see if we can distil any further cortex-flensing insight from the Steam page.


“Unlock different penguins to replay the game as,” it comments. “Different penguins have different abilities and challenges. For example playing as a baby penguin means you can fit in smaller gaps but you cannot swim.”


Well, that seems harmless enough. Please try to distract yourself from the coming doom by telling me which is your favourite penguin. If you wrote anything other than Rockhopper then sorry, you are wrong. Alternatively, exacerbate your awareness of the coming doom by rewatching Thingu.

Crypto ETF Floodgates Open With SEC Listing Standards. What Does It Mean For Prices?

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has cleared a path for a flood of new crypto exchange-traded products to hit the market, a move analysts say could reshape how money flows into digital assets.

On Wednesday, the agency approved generic listing standards for “commodity-based trust shares” across regulated exchanges Nasdaq, Cboe BZX and NYSE Arca.

The new rules remove the need for each crypto ETP to undergo its own individual rule filing under Section 19(b) of the Exchange Act. Instead, an offering whose underlying assets satisfy certain objective eligibility tests — for example, if the crypto trades on a market that is a member of the Intermarket Surveillance Group (ISG), or if the underlying asset’s futures contract is listed on a CFTC-regulated designated contract market for at least six months — can be listed using these generic standards.

What’s next?

The regulatory shift marks a watershed for the crypto industry, removing much of the procedural drag that has historically slowed getting new crypto products to the market, analysts said.

“[The] crypto ETF floodgates are about to open,” said Nate Geraci, a well-followed ETF analyst and president of NovaDius Wealth Management.

“Expect an absolute deluge of new filings and launches,” he said. “You may not like it, but crypto is going mainstream via the ETF wrapper.”

Matt Hougan, chief investment officer of digital asset management firm and ETF issuer Bitwise, said the SEC’s move is a “coming of age” moment for crypto.

“[It’s] a signal that we’ve reached the big leagues,” he wrote. “But it’s also just the beginning.”

History backs up predictions that the number of new crypto ETF launches will accelerate under the new regime.

When the SEC approved generic listing standards for bond and stock-based products in 2019, the number of ETFs launches more than tripled in a year, rising to 370 from 117 the year before, Hougan pointed out.

What does it mean for crypto prices?

Hougan cautioned against assuming new crypto ETPs will automatically drive large inflows. “The mere existence of a crypto ETP does not guarantee significant inflows,” he wrote. “You need fundamental interest in the underlying asset.”

Take, for example, the slow start of spot ether (ETH) ETFs. They only began gathering meaningful inflows nearly a year after launch, once stablecoin activity and — by extension — Ethereum’s investment narrative picked up, Hougan wrote.

By contrast, products tied to smaller-cap assets with less tangible use cases may struggle to attract capital absent renewed fundamentals, he added.

Still, he argued that ETPs dramatically lower the barrier for traditional investors, making it far easier for institutional and retail allocators to pivot into crypto once sentiment turns. They also help demystify cryptocurrencies for mainstream audiences when names like Avalanche AVAX$33,96 and Chainlink LINK$23,55 appear in brokerage accounts, Hougan said.

“What we are seeing now are underlying assets further down the value curve being rolled into these wrappers and strategies,” Paul Howard, senior director of Wincent told CoinDesk in a note. “For institutions that cannot own spot [crypto] directly, these vehicles provide a wrapper and move liquidity into the ecosystem.”

Panasonic RB-F10: Two-minute review

Being a little down on a product you fundamentally really like feels uncharitable. It’s the audio equivalent of Ebenezer Scrooge giving Tiny Tim a pair of the incredible Shokz OpenFit 2+, then swapping that sweet sonic stocking stuffer for Bob Cratchit’s humble morsel of goose. Bah, humbug, indeed.

Truthfully, though, if you did buy me a pair of Panasonic RB-F10s for Christmas or my birthday, I’d be pretty smitten. Yes, they have their faults, but if you can overcome slightly fiddly on-ears controls, Panny’s recent buds are stylish, affordable, and feel so comfortable once they’re on, you might as well have a couple of pixies giving your ear canals a luxurious bubble bath.

I adore how these open earbuds feel on my lugholes. There’s no question the main selling point here is the soothing snugness the RB-F10s bring to your listening experiences. I genuinely forgot I was wearing Panasonic’s open earbuds, which weigh 8.79g each, during the vast majority of my testing.

I can’t think of a single occasion where the fit irritated me, be it in on a recent skin-sizzling 93F trip to Fuerteventura or enduring a mild Scottish downpour closer to home. These wrap-around buds neither slip or irritate your skin, nor do they begin to chafe after hours of prolonged use. Granted, I might be guilty of the (ahem) occasional wildly definitive-sounding declaration over the years, but I stand by the following statement: the Panasonic RB-F10s are the most comfortable earbuds of any kind I’ve ever worn. Stick that on the box, Panny.

Elsewhere, problems sadly surface that lower these otherwise supremely sturdy buds’ score. With grown-up looks, a classy charging cradle, and satisfyingly loud, well-weighted audio, there’s a whole lot to like about a pair of open ears that cost comfortably less than $100.

Yet it’s hard to stuff my fingers in my ears and pretend the RB-F10s don’t have issues – chief among them are some of the fiddliest, least dependable on-ears controls I’ve encountered on a pair of buds. At best, they’re semi-reliable. At worst? The simple task of pausing or skipping a track has made me chuck Panasonic’s ear accessories onto my sofa multiple times – a feeble bout of frustration the best open ear buds wouldn’t bring out in me.

I’ll get to the RB-F10’s fuller audio performance shortly, but if you want the abbreviated version, they’re damn good. With weighty 17mm x 12mm drivers, they bring boom in spades for such svelte buds, while also delivering acoustics you’d never describe as either tinny nor scratchy.

Feature-wise, we’re looking at somewhat of a mixed bag. That’s a bag you’d drop every time you did your shopping thanks to those misfiring on-ear controls that are as dependable as a lion going for the vegan option at an all-you-eat zebra buffet. Though IPX4 waterproofing is welcome (and effective in my experience), battery life doesn’t exactly have my knees aquiver.

If you don’t have Panasonic’s nicely minimalist charging cradle to hand, you’re looking at a meagre seven hours of juice. If you’re a fiendish podcast binger like myself who often leaves home without a dock, these may not be the buds for you.

ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) has also been left off the party list and software support is non-existent. Though not the most feature-rich buds, the RB-F10s do at least support convincingly solid dual mic audio calls, and the presence of reliable Bluetooth multipoint connectivity is also welcome.

If it weren’t for those overly finicky on-ear controls, I’d unquestionably be giving the Panasonic RB-10s a higher score that would have it ruffling the feathers of some of the best earbuds. Yet due to those unpredictable controls and only so-so battery life, you may be better off looking at the sublime Nothing Ear (a), or the slightly more premium Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds.

The Panasonic RB-F10s have been out for a few months at this point, but you’d be hard pressed to tell. You’d have an easier time spotting a neon-dipped snow leopard during a blackout than finding these buds readily on sale.

Currently, the only place I’ve been able to locate these attractive, relatively affordable earbuds is the official UK Panasonic site. Available in black or a two-tone white scheme, these $110 / £79.99 / around AU$165 buds are very reasonable considering their overall build and sound quality.

Knowing Panasonic, the F10s are unlikely to become significantly easier to pick up going forward, so if you do see them in stock on the UK’s official site or somewhere like eBay (and fancy the cut of their jib), put your money where your sonic-slaying mouth is.

If there were a Deep Impact style meteor-centric oblivion on the horizon and you were forced to draw the short straw on who gets to board the shuttle to survival…. well, suffice to say that comet is cooking F10 owners. That’s a fruity way of saying the RB-F10s aren’t exactly feature-rich.

A lack of ANC or software support is perhaps expected at such an agreeable price point, but what’s considerably harder to stomach is the F10s’ battery life. I’ve seen mayflies with heaving drinking problems boast longer lifespans.

Unless you carry the handsome dock around you like it was a court-mandated bracelet, these open earbuds will die on you a little after seven hours. If you obsessively charge the buds in their dock, and I mean every single day, you’ll get a much healthier 25 hours of juice. Nevertheless, during my seven weeks of testing, I found Panny’s buds died out of nowhere an alarming amount. If you’re a committed jogger, these probably aren’t the earbuds for you.

Don’t walk away at a brisk pace just yet, though. The RB-F10s aren’t entirely no-frills and an IPX4 waterproof rating should never be taken for granted from a native Scot like myself. If you live in an area with regular showers you’ll definitely appreciate this feature. Thanks to their open ear design that shows off a whole lotta lobe, nailing down an IPX4 waterproof rating was key.

I was once caught in a downright biblical lashing of hailstones while nipping out for a lunchtime burger during my F10s testing, and it was mercifully only my soggy quarter pounder that met a watery fate that day. On the few times I have encountered showers while out and about, I’ve yet to hear all those sky tears cause any audible distortion while listening to music on the RB-F10s.

The F10s’ Bluetooth 5.4 multipoint connectivity is probably the most forward-looking feature these buds boast. Capable of pairing to a duo of iOS/Android devices at the same time, the F10s can register to 10 separate devices, though you can obviously only swap between a single pair at once.

The pairing/disconnecting process is relatively simple, involving holding the sensor button down on each bud for several seconds. Once you hone in on your two favorite devices, these buds will intuitively pick up on whatever content you were listening to on them last. It’s smart, hassle-free stuff.

Dual mic support also makes the F10s solid for voice calls. As glamorous – and depressingly unstaged – as this sounds, I had to take a relatively important fraud call from my bank while wearing Panasonic’s buds. The company’s claim that voice signals hold up to around 33ft proved largely true, and even taking an irritating security call while wandering about my Spanish friend’s (in no way death) cellar, the clarity of the audio never wavered.

So the F10s just about get a passing grade in the features department. Still, any prospective future teacher would be sticking a big, fat “could do better” before a pair of F11s rock up to school next year.

As someone who normally wears the best over-ears headphones in everyday life I’ve been mightily impressed by the range of sounds these sleek buds pump up. Keen to hear how the buds would fare, I decided to forgo my increasingly decrepit musical tastes and listen to some fresher bangers from Glastonbury 2025. Not in a mud-caked field in Somerset, you understand. Rather from the comfort of my reclining chair with an RF-10 popped into each ear.

Now let’s jump down the YouTube rabbit hole!

The five-piece indie pop group Wet Leg slithered around Glasto’s Other Stage and immediately wormed into my brain with Catch These Fists. Sensationally steely, winkingly erotic before exploding into a scrappily raunchy crescendo, it’s a bloody fun tune, and one where the RB-F10s powerful 17mm x 12mm drivers effortlessly pick up lead singer Rhian Teasdale’s growling lower registers.

I was also taken aback that the RB-F10s made the upbeat Yougotmefeeling by Parcels come alive in a full-bodied way that briefly made me do a double take on whether I was listening to their summery banger on budget earbuds or one of the best surround sound systems. There was one moment the video cut to the super sweaty crowd, and the subsequent swirling chorals almost made me believe I was standing among the throng covered in knocked-over plastic lager glasses.

Sticking with YouTube, I was delighted to bump into an energetic performance of Don’t Back into the Sun by The Libertines. The fact Carl Barat turned up with chaotic longtime collaborator Pete Doherty, who not only looked reasonably healthy, but didn’t flub his lines, was a nice surprise. That definitely wasn’t on my Glasto bingo card. Back to the Panasonic RB-F10s, Gary Powell’s pounding drumwork and John Hassall’s satisfyingly punchy bass came through without overwhelming Pete and Carl’s duets.

Even though I do a lot of my headphones testing on my iPhone, I must admit to consuming a lot of content on my iPad Pro, be it the best Netflix movies or the best Amazon Prime shows. On that note, I’ve been rewatching The Boys season 3 for roughly the 43rd time. Herogasm! Anyway, there’s a song that plays during a later episode where Homelander “might” be getting his morning milk from an unconventional source. Yick.

Still, if it wasn’t for that udderly unacceptable act, I’d never have found 1968’s Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells. Talk about a psychedelic headtrip banger for the ages. This trance-like ‘60s tune is mellow yet somehow quietly sinister. For all three minutes and 25 seconds the RB-F10s deliver the big beats with aplomb while also delivering on the shakier strands that make you wonder if your entire head is about to fall into your buds.

So it shouldn’t come as a Tyler Durden-style shocker that I’m into the audio quality the Panasonic RB-F10s deliver at such a comparatively reasonable price. Bass also feels nuanced, with drivers capable of handling both big orchestral numbers without letting lyrics get lost in the shuffle. Sound-wise, these are some of the most well-rounded, best-judged buds I’ve tested.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! Not enough? Alright. Zip those lips and take even more of my cents. I’m smitten with the design of the Panasonic RB-F10s, especially with the ultra alluring two-tone white shade (also available in black). Unfussy yet dignified, they have an aura of quiet confidence about them I really dig. And then there’s the comfort.

If it was legal to wed a pair of open earbuds based purely on how ludicrously comfortable they feel to wear, I’m slamming a ring on the RB-10s pronto…. before finding a cave where I can live out the rest of my days in shunned solitude. Hot dang, do these buds feel lovely.

I’ve worn some supremely comfy cans of late (like the likeable yet uneven Happy Plugs Play Pro over-ears), but Panasonic’s lightweight offerings are on another level. Once you get them out of their cute charging cradle, popping them on is a breeze. With a few tweaks I found the RB-10 almost immediately adjusted to a position that wrapped around my lobes in an entirely satisfying, seamless way.

I suspect this is down to two major factors. Firstly, the flexible (but not cheap-feeling) plastics they’ve been constructed from, which lets them contort around the shape of your ears with minimal fuss. Secondly, their oh-so-lightweight footprint. At well under 9 grams per bud, and thanks to their open design that leads to what Panasonic describes as an “unintrusive fit”, it’s almost alarmingly easy to forget you’re wearing the RB-F10s.

Fun fact: I went on a four-hour round trip to see the deeply underwhelming Jurassic World Rebirth semi-recently, and not once on that lengthy inner city tour could I feel Panasonic’s open buds rub my ears up the wrong way while listening to Jurassic-themed podcasts. Hey, you gotta keep it on brand, right? Honestly, I’m wearing them while currently writing this review and I legit can’t feel them. Witchcraft!

Sadly, the on-ear touch sensors are about as reliable as a chocolate watch… and a timekeeper that’s been placed into a giant oven at that. They simply don’t function as they should often enough.

Located on the main body of each bud, a single tap should play/pause whatever you’re listening to, and touching the left bud’s sensor rapidly three times will turn the volume up (a double tap turns it down). Meanwhile, a trio of touches on the right earbud will skip forward a track (again, a double tap to go back a song).

The trouble is, these sensors are both weirdly sensitive and not sensitive enough. During my weeks of testing I’d find they’d follow the commands I wanted maybe 40% of the time. Hardly an ideal batting average, right?

If you’re sitting at a desk judging the exact position and pressure you need to hit the RB-F10s is easier. In motion, though? That’s a far more flustering story. I lost count of the times I accidentally skipped to a new podcast episode on walks due to my right bud’s sensor having a mind of its own.

Pausing tunes via the left earbud also proved to be a teeth-gnashing chore. It’s such a pity, because if the Panasonic RB-F10s controls were more reliable, I’d be awarding these attractive buds another half star.

To round off this finger-flummoxing package on a cheerier note, I’ve got to pour some love all over the RB-F10s’ charging “cradle”. Sorry, “dock”! Not only is it incredibly easy to jam into even the tightest of pockets, but the way both buds magnetically snap into their holders – Nintendo Switch 2 style – is stupidly satisfying.

  • Sound exceeds expectations for the price

The RB-F10s are a bit of a steal. Full disclosure: DO NOT STEAL. Packing that Panny quality without skimping on audio quality, they hit a lovely sweet spot between price and performance. In an age where it’s all too easy to pick up any random pair of buds for $20 at an airport, the F10s’ design and sonic quality shine through.

The very fact I’ve barely given my beloved Apple AirPods Max much of a look-in of late speaks volumes – and I’m in no way sorry about the tangential pun. Rocking premium build quality and striking sound at a rough $100 price bracket, the F10s are easy to recommend for homebody audiophiles who aren’t fussed about ANC, so are less likely to contend with noisy commutes.

How I tested the Panasonic RB-F10

  • Tested for seven weeks
  • Used at home, outdoors and on flights

I tested the Panasonic RB-F10 over a seven-week period. Forgive me if that seems like an overly long testing window. I turned 40 during the review process and suffered a tiny existential breakdown. Thank heavens I had the F10s’ quality sound output to pick me up during my darker moments.

During that time I used these open earbuds to listen to my favorite tunes and podcasts across different environments, spanning my ground floor apartment, on walks through city centers and on public buses. I primarily connected the headphones to my iPhone 14 Pro – and to a lesser extent – my Apple iPad Pro 13-inch (2024).

Stellar (XLM) is bullish as the asset has recorded an over 3.5% price increase within the last 24 hours, triggering a surge in open interest. As per CoinGlass data, within the same time frame, Stellar’s open interest climbed by 4.63%. This increase could catalyze further price gains.

Notably, Stellar investors have committed 917.26 million XLM worth $376.97 million to the asset’s futures market. It suggests that more traders are comfortable holding positions as they anticipate further price gains in Stellar.

For clarity, open interest indicates the volume of futures contracts that investors have open on XLM. The higher the percentage increase in open interest, the higher the confidence and bullish expectations. Hence, a 4.63% increase signals strong bullish expectations.

As of this writing, the Stellar price was trading up by 5.03% at $0.4113. The coin had earlier reached a peak of $0.4141, suggesting that it has potential for further gains. With its Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 57.82, XLM has room for upside, and this could reach $0.50.

BTC Price Pulls Back, PENGU Open Interest Surges

Bitcoin BTC$115,696.27 pulled back from overnight highs above $116,000 to under $115,000 as the Dollar Index (DXY) remains steady despite expectations of an imminent Fed rate cut.

Analysts remained optimistic saying they expect new lifetime highs in BTC and outsized gains in select few tokens, such as HYPE, SOL and ENA.

Focus has already shifted to smaller names. Tokens such as MYX, HASH, PENGU, PUMP and MNT have carved out price gains in excess of 10% this week.

“The CPI + jobs combo created a classic “good news/bad data” trade: inflation prints higher, but weaker labor data preserves the easing narrative, a net positive for crypto in the near term,” Timothy Misir, head of research, BRN said in an email.

Derivatives Positioning

  • Open interest in futures tied to the top 10 cryptocurrencies increased 3%-5% in the past 24 hours as strengthening expectations of Fed rate cuts prompt traders to take more risk.
  • Still, the market does not appear overheated, with annualized perpetual funding rates for major coins continuing to hover around 10%. Positive funding rates indicate a bullish bias among traders. Extremely high values typically signal market froth.
  • OI in PENGU, one of the best-performing tokens of the past seven days, hit a record high 7.78 billion coins, validating the price rise. Funding rates for the coin are slightly elevated at around 15%.
  • Smaller tokens, like SKY and PYTH, have deeply negative funding rates, a sign of bias towards bearish, short positions.
  • CME’s bitcoin futures are finally seeing an uptick in OI, ending a multiweek decline while ether OI has pulled back to a one-month low of 1.78 million ETH. These diverging trends could be a sign of renewed trader focus on BTC. Options OI in BTC and ETH remains elevated at multimonth highs.
  • On Deribit, BTC and ETH options continue to show a bias toward puts up to the December expiry, despite traders pricing roughly five U.S. interest-rate cuts by July next year.

  • Peckshield noted that $1.2 million was stolen from a Thorchain user, with ZachXBT adding that the perpetrator is linked to North Korean hackers.
  • Thorchain emerged as one of North Korea’s most popular laundering tools earlier this year; researchers estimated that 80% of the proceeds from a $1.4 billion hack on Bybit had been siphoned through Thorchain and protocols like Vultisig.
  • The thorchain token (RUNE) is trading around $1.28, having lost 14% of its value in the past month and more than 90% since hitting its March 2024 high of $12.95.
  • The hack involved a mixture of social engineering and phishing, two techniques that contributed to the $2.5 billion stolen by hackers in the first half of 2025.

‘Players ended up just shooting Doritos’: Battlefield 6 is toning down its aggressive ping ability after open beta feedback

The Battlefield 6 beta felt like a throwback to an older era of Battlefield in all sorts of ways, but one of the big ones was its generous spotting mechanic: Slap that Q button in the general direction of a bad guy and their head got tagged with a scarlet “Dorito,” making them visible and vulnerable to the entire team.

The 3D spot is a staple of Battlefield that Battlefield Studios has no plans of abandoning again, but it agrees with players who thought spotting, and especially the Recon’s auto-spotting ability, was way too powerful in the open beta. In a recent interview with IGN, console combat designer Matthew Nickerson said changes are coming in the final game.

“We definitely reduced the range and overall reduced the power,” Nickerson said. “We found out a lot in open beta that it was obviously very strong, just like players said. Really, players ended up just shooting Doritos. Light environments, dark environments—they were just like, ‘Hey, aim at the Dorito. You’re going to hit something at the end of the day.’”

I wish that were hyperbole, but I’d guesstimate that a fourth of my kills in the open beta were enemies I never actually saw. It could hardly be helped: Those red diamonds shone clear as day through all the dust and smoke that filled the streets of Siege of Cairo, and if you didn’t take advantage of the intel, they surely would.

The planned changes will reduce the range and duration of pings, presumably meaning that you can’t just spam Q at a small black speck on a hill and conjure a Dorito. That said, I assume you can still mark locations with a non-tracking ping from a great distance, which theoretically accomplishes the same thing, but only your squad can see it.

“Again, we want the information. It’s important to ping players,” Nickerson added, “but it’s got to be an active part of Battlefield. It can’t just be a fire-and-forget sweep across the whole thing [and] everyone’s lit up. That was very apparent in open beta, so we’ve made some considerable changes to the system.”

Gemini, the U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange founded by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, has priced its initial public offering at $28 per share, beating expectations ahead of the start of trading Friday.

Launching on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol “GEMI,” the deal marks one of the most closely watched debuts in the crypto sector this year, with strong investor demand pushing the IPO well above its original $17 to $19 price per stock range.

The company and its selling stockholders also granted underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 758,929 shares to cover over-allotments, though Gemini itself will not receive proceeds from those secondary sales. The offering is expected to close on September 15, subject to customary conditions.

Gemini’s looming IPO



The exchange, founded in 2014, has long been a high-profile player in digital assets. Its twin co-founders first rose to fame through their legal battle with Mark Zuckerberg over the origins of Facebook, later becoming early Bitcoin evangelists. More recently, they became outspoken backers of Donald Trump in his successful 2024 U.S. presidential campaign.

Gemini remains heavily reliant on trading fees, which made up nearly 70% of its $142.2 million in revenue last year. Despite growth in users, losses have ballooned: a net loss of $158.5 million in 2024, and $282.5 million already in the first half of 2025.

In its IPO filing, the company projected confidence, citing its “focus on innovation and a long history of firsts in the crypto industry” as reason to believe it will expand its base.

That optimism is tempered by deepening political and regulatory drama. Brian Quintenz, Trump’s nominee to lead the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), this week published screenshots of private Signal conversations with the Winklevoss twins.

The regulator sued the company in 2022 for misleading statements tied to its Bitcoin futures products, a case Gemini settled this January for $5 million without admitting wrongdoing.

In the messages, the brothers appeared to question Quintenz’s loyalty to their complaints against the regulator, while referencing potential appeals to the president himself.

The White House later withdrew a planned Senate vote on Quintenz’s nomination.

Astro Bot Joyful DualSense Limited Edition Preorders Open Tomorrow Morning

Astro Bot fans have another chance to get a DualSense Controller themed around the adorable little robot. Preorders for PlayStation’s Astro Bot Joyful Limited Edition DualSense open tomorrow, September 12, at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET. The remixed version of the incredibly popular DualSense launches October 30.

PlayStation hasn’t officially confirmed pricing details, but we’d expect the controller to retail for $85 like other recent Limited Edition DualSense models. Like the original, the Astro Bot Joyful edition will be sold at PlayStation Direct and participating major retailers. In the US, this likely means Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and GameStop.

$85 | Releases October 30

As the “Joyful” moniker suggests, the 2025 edition makes one change to the design: Astro’s eyes on the touchpad match his smiling face from the PS5 game. The original edition depicted Astro’s eyes as circles. The updated design matches Astro’s face on the game’s cover art.

Outside of that small, but noticeable alteration, this is the same controller that launched in September 2024.

The white and blue color scheme simply looks fantastic, so it’s not surprising this controller was popular enough to warrant a second edition. It’s arguably the best-looking Limited Edition DualSense yet. It also helps that Astro Bot is one of the best 3D platformers ever made and has a strong argument for best overall PS5 game.

Note: The links below are search results where you can expect to find the controller once retailers create store pages. We will update with direct store pages once available.

Heads up: The original Astro Bot controller sells for around $150 on eBay. Amazon says 50+ people have purchased preowned Astro Bot controllers for $155-$170 in the past month. Though we’d be surprised if the new edition sells out as quickly as the first one–just because many people already have a very similar controller–we wouldn’t count on this remaining in stock for too long.

That said, it’s worth noting that PlayStation’s Ghost of Yotei Limited Edition DualSense Controllers (and PS5 consoles) remain in stock a week after preorders opened. PlayStation Direct has an exclusive edition with black artwork, while the gold edition is available at all major retailers.

Coinbase Launches x402 Bazaar

Meanwhile, Coinbase introduced x402 Bazaar, a marketplace for AI agent-powered micropayments using USDC. The platform revives the old HTTP 402 “Payment Required” status code, allowing seamless pay-per-request services. Sellers do not need blockchain infrastructure since Coinbase’s hosted facilitator verifies and settles payments without charging facilitator fees for USDC on Base.

This partnership and Coinbase’s innovation highlight a new phase in AI-driven blockchain ecosystems. It brings stronger security, easier adoption, and practical tools for developers building next-generation decentralized applications.

Litecoin (LTC) has, in the last 30 days, shed 6.113% of its value as the coin continues to experience volatility. However, the asset is showing the potential to register a bullish rally as the open interest has, in the last 24 hours, jumped to a new weekly high.

Rising open interest signals investor confidence in Litecoin

According to CoinGlass data, 8.44 million LTC valued at about $958.02 million were committed to the asset’s futures market by investors. For context, open interest refers to the sum of unsettled active futures contracts that investors have committed to Litecoin.

The bullish spike signals that investors are anticipating continued upward movement for LTC. According to available data, the majority of these investors are on the Binance exchange, with 2.44 million LTC valued at $276.93 million. This represents 28.9% of the total open interest within this time frame.

Bitget and Bybit are next, with 15.87% and 14.78% of the total share, respectively. In asset terms, Bitget investors committed 1.34 million LTC valued at $152.05 million, while Bybit registered 1.25 million LTC worth $141.65 million.

The uptick in open interest coincides with increased optimism of a possible approval of the pending exchange-traded fund (ETF) approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Notably, there is anticipation that the U.S. SEC will decide on applications, with Nate Geraci placing approval probability at 95%.

Litecoin price action and future outlook

The uptick in open interest and other bullish developments have triggered a slight increase in price. As of press time, the Litecoin price was changing hands at $113.00, a 0.26% increase in the last 24 hours. The coin previously traded at a peak of $114.63 before the correction.

Investors are also actively engaging with the coin as trading volume climbed by 2.31% to $636.73 million.

There was anticipation in some quarters when Litecoin traded at $129 that it could record a 100% increase, as it mirrors Ethereum’s trend. Ali Martinez, the renowned analyst, has predicted a possible rise to $220. Whether it can climb that high only time will reveal.
