Bitcoin Price Staging A Comeback? On-Chain Signals Suggest Market Bottom Is In

by admin August 31, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The Bitcoin price has struggled to break free of its horrid run of performances over the past few days, continuing to move below the $110,000 mark. While the flagship cryptocurrency appears to be relatively more stable in the past day, concerns are still swirling around about the coin’s struggles beneath critical levels.

According to a prominent market expert on X, the Bitcoin price could be gearing up to make a comeback in the coming days. The latest on-chain signals suggest that the market leader might have hit a price bottom, hinting that a trend reversal could be imminent.

Bitcoin Price Structure Might Be Bottoming Out: Analyst

In an August 30 post on X, crypto analyst Willy Woo revealed that the Bitcoin price structure might be bottoming out. The online pundit hinted that the world’s largest cryptocurrency might be at the start of its recovery journey after weeks of sluggish price action.

Woo highlighted a couple of on-chain metrics to back this optimistic outlook for the Bitcoin price. Firstly, the analyst mentioned the capital inflow metric, which tracks the amount of money that flows into the flagship cryptocurrency within a given period.

Source: @woonomic on X

As observed in the chart above, the Bitcoin network recently recorded its “first daily print” of positive inflows after weeks of outflows. According to Woo, this increasing flow into the BTC network is the first sign that the Bitcoin price might have reached a bottom.

Furthermore, Woo highlighted that the Macro Cycle Risk formed a new lower high and has triggered a drop in risk. Typically, a decline in the Macro Cycle Risk indicator suggests that liquidity is returning to the Bitcoin network, which could signal the start of buying pressure for the market leader.

In the post on X, the crypto analyst also mentioned that the Risk-Off signal has reached a local peak and is on the decline. This drop suggests that investors are moving away from caution and might be looking to invest their money into risk assets, including cryptocurrencies.

Ultimately, Woo concluded that the Bitcoin price is stabilizing and seems to be forming a bullish structure already. The pundit, however, noted that investors would need to keep buying the dip for the bullish structure to fully form.

Morning Minute: The US Just Put GDP On-Chain

by admin August 30, 2025

Morning Minute is a daily newsletter written by Tyler Warner. The analysis and opinions expressed are his own and do not necessarily reflect those of Decrypt. Subscribe to the Morning Minute on Substack.

GM!

Today’s top news:

  • Crypto majors deep red down 3-6% ahead of PCE; BTC at $110,000
  • U.S. Commerce Dept begins publishing GDP data to blockchain with ChainLink and Pyth support
  • CTFC clears way for offshore crypto protocols to embrace U.S. users
  • Trump family’s American Bitcoin plans for September IPO
  • COPE runs 100x in just over a day, leading on-chain meme runners

🇺🇸📊 The U.S. Just Put GDP On-chain

A major U.S. agency has pushed core macro data on-chain.

And it opens a brand-new lane for crypto markets.

📌 What Happened

The Commerce Department began publishing official economic stats on blockchains and tapped oracle providers Chainlink and Pyth to distribute the data for smart contract use.

The initial rollout includes multiple networks, with Chainlink feeds already live.

For a quick overview of the details:

  • Data types going on-chain: Real GDP (level and QoQ annualized %), PCE Price Index (level and QoQ annualized %), and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers (level and QoQ annualized %)
  • Frequency: Updates arrive monthly or quarterly as applicable
  • Where it’s publishing first (Chainlink feeds): Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Botanix, Ethereum, Linea, Mantle, Optimism, Sonic, ZKsync, with support expanding based on demand
  • Pyth’s role: Verify and distribute GDP releases, initially providing quarterly series with historical backfill

The market loved the news with PYTH ripping roughly 100% on the announcement, and LINK popping 5-8% (before retracing).

PYTH absolutely soars on the news it will help power on-chain GDP data

🗣️ What They’re Saying

“The Department of Commerce is going to start issuing its statistics on the blockchain… and we’re going to put out GDP on the blockchain, so people can use the blockchain for data distribution.” – Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

this is the most aggressive bullish barrage of news in one short time period that ive seen for crypto markets in the past ten years

— Ansem (@blknoiz06) August 28, 2025

🧠 Why It Matters

There is a whole lot to unpack here, but it’s all incredibly bullish.

From a government perspective, posting official numbers on public chains makes them tamper-evident and instantly checkable by anyone. That boosts confidence in the data (and trust).

From a data integration perspective, smart contracts can now react to GDP or PCE in real time. Think GDP-linked payouts, on-chain hedges, auto-rebalancing funds, and cleaner prediction markets that settle on official, immutable feeds.

From a crypto perspective, we now have a federal agency using crypto oracles to publish official numbers – signaling crypto infrastructure is crossing into mainstream.

This is a watershed moment for crypto.

The biggest players in the world are beginning to use blockchains for one of their native intended purposes (transparency & decentralization).

The U.S. government is a winner here (efficiency gains), the U.S. people are a winner here (more transparency), LINK and PYTH are direct winners here (showing their utility) and so is the broader crypto space (more adoption and credibility).

Are you tired of winning yet?

Chainlink, US DOC Join To Bring Macroeconomic Data On-Chain

by admin August 29, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Chainlink and the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced their collaboration to deliver key government macroeconomic data on-chain, aiming to improve transparency and unlock new use cases for blockchain markets.

Chainlink Brings Economic Data On-Chain

On Thursday, the US Department of Commerce and decentralized oracle provider Chainlink unveiled that they had partnered to bring crucial macroeconomic data on-chain from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).

The new Chainlink Data Feeds aim to deliver critical information around key US economic data points, including Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index, and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers.

Data on the level and percentage change of Real GDP, PCE Price Index, and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers are now available on-chain for consumption. This data will be updated monthly or quarterly as applicable.

Additionally, the data will be available across ten blockchain ecosystems initially, including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Botanix, Ethereum, Linea, Mantle, Optimism, Sonic, and ZKsync.

The announcement highlighted that bringing the US government data on-chain “unlocks innovative use cases for blockchain markets,” like automated trading strategies, increased composability of tokenized assets, the issuance of new types of digital assets, real-time prediction markets for crowdsourced intelligence, transparent dashboards powered by immutable data, and DeFi protocol risk management based on macroeconomic factors.

“As the industry-standard oracle platform, Chainlink supports one of the largest ecosystems in Web3, leveraging secure data oracles to build advanced onchain applications—making this work a natural step forward in expanding the scope of trusted data available onchain,” Chainlink wrote.

Earlier this week, US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick revealed that the DOC “is going to start issuing its statistics on the blockchain,” adding that the goal is to create a more open and accessible framework for global markets.

Lutnick shared his plan to bring Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on-chain for enhanced transparency and data distribution across US government departments.  He also highlighted that the initiative aligned with President Trump’s vision to make America the “crypto capital of the world.”

Institutional Adoption Of Blockchain Technology

This development follows the recent push to integrate blockchain technology into federal institutions. As reported by Bitcoinist, the US House of Representatives passed a bill in June to establish a Blockchain Deployment Program, aiming to develop best practices and explore the adoption of blockchain in multiple areas.

Introduced in February by Republican Representative Kat Cammack, HR 1664, also known as the Deploying American Blockchains Act of 2025, directs the US Secretary of Commerce to lead the national efforts, requiring him to serve as the President’s principal advisor for the deployment, use, application, and competitiveness of blockchain and other DLT, and take the actions necessary to support the US leadership in this sector.

The bill, co-sponsored by Democratic Representative Darren Soto, establishes that the Secretary of Commerce must encourage and improve coordination among Federal agencies for the deployment of these technologies to offer federal support.

It’s worth noting that Chainlink Labs has also met with several key US government officials and regulators to provide policy recommendations aimed at accelerating the growth of the blockchain industry.

Notably, their team had several meetings with the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) staff to address core issues on broker-dealer and transfer agency compliance using public blockchain infrastructure.

Moreover, Chainlink’s founder, Sergey Nazarov, recently met with Tim Scott, the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, to discuss the highly anticipated market structure bill and how it could enable the rapid growth of the blockchain industry in the US.

Sectors Beyond Bitcoin: Ethereum, Solana and On-Chain Economies

Bitcoin may dominate the crypto conversation as the most established digital asset, but today’s landscape presents many compelling opportunities to investors.

Outside of Bitcoin, blockchains power applications that delight global users, generate meaningful revenues, and are growing impressively.

Bringing Global Finance On-Chain

Tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) refer to the issuance and trading of traditional instruments like stocks, bonds, commodities, and alternative assets on blockchains. The perks of doing so are substantial. Settling asset trades on-chain is nearly instantaneous; anyone, anywhere can participate (if the issuer allows it), and transactions are transparent, making them easier to track and automate.

Today, nearly $300 billion in tokenized assets are on-chain. Boston Consulting Group predicts the market will reach $600 billion by the end of the year and $19 trillion by 2030. Recent RWA deployments are showcasing blockchains’ potential to transform traditional markets.

In bridging traditional assets and on-chain use, blockchains act as marketplaces, with typical “chicken and egg” dynamics. Namely, issuers want to go where the active users are, and users flock to the site of the new and best products.

Ethereum was the natural starting point. Stablecoins like USDC and USDT first launched there, giving Ethereum the deepest pool of tokenized dollars and the majority of today’s on-chain RWA value.

Solana is a top contender for RWA activity, and recent launches showcase blockchains’ potential to swiftly transform traditional markets. Kamino Finance, Solana’s leading borrowing and lending application, enables users to easily borrow against their holdings in xStocks, tokenized stocks of Apple, Tesla, and other companies. Since xStocks launched across blockchains on June 30, Solana has accounted for an average of approximately 93% of daily trading volume.

On-chain stock token volume by blockchain | Source: Dune Analytics

Solana’s dominance in global developer activity and active users (more than double that of the next chain) gives it an edge in courting asset issuers, while successfully onboarding them and unveiling new on-chain products will reinforce this activity.

More broadly, DeFi continues to grow, with greater diversity in on-chain products and institutional-grade offerings. Catering to sophisticated portfolios, builders work on products that integrate stablecoins, RWAs, and / or yield mechanics to create appeal to different risk preferences.

Ethereum currently leads the sector, with over $94 billion in total value locked (TVL) and thousands of protocols. While retaining the industry’s deepest liquidity is an advantage, there’s more to DeFi than TVL.

The Solana DeFi protocol’s total value locked (TVL) recently surpassed approximately $10 billion. In a sign that the TVL reflects real and valuable use, Solana’s applications collectively earn more on-chain fee revenue than all other chains combined. Thanks to its speed and low costs, solana has established itself as DeFi’s active trading hub and consistently leads ether in decentralized exchange (DEX) trading volumes.

Beyond bitcoin’s crypto role as “digital gold,” both the Ethereum and Solana blockchains have emerged as core digital infrastructure, each with distinct advantages.

Ethereum is the original open computer, where builders first coded decentralized applications and foundational institutional projects launched.

Solana’s DeFi momentum is building. It’s the most used chain in the world already, and a hotbed for innovative DeFi products. Like Ethereum’s native ETH token, Solana’s SOL offers broad exposure to the ecosystem, meaning investors don’t need to pick individual application winners; instead, they can participate in the overall growth.

Ethereum and Solana’s long-term success depends on their being home to applications that deliver real value and, ultimately, disrupt legacy financial systems. If they can pull that off, then today’s prices may look like attractive entry points.

Ask an Expert

Q. One year into the institutional investments in the crypto ETFs trend, how are Canadian banks and pension funds approaching bitcoin?

A. This quarter’s 13F filings reveal that Montreal-based Trans-Canada Capital has made notable investments in digital assets. It manages the pension assets for Air Canada, as one of the largest corporate pension plans in the country. The pension fund added $55 million in a spot bitcoin ETF.

Institutional adoption of bitcoin has accelerated over the past year, driven by clearer regulatory guidance, the launch of spot ETFs and increasing recognition of bitcoin as a strategic asset. Schedule 1 banks in Canada are holding more than $139 million in bitcoin exchange-traded funds, underscoring growing institutional demand and long-term positioning.

Q. How might institutional accumulation affect bitcoin’s market dynamics?

A. Last year, ETFs purchased approximately 500,000 bitcoin, while the network produced 164,250 new bitcoin through its proof-of-work consensus. This means ETF demand alone was three times the newly minted supply. Additionally, public and private corporations purchased 250,000 bitcoins. As governments consider including bitcoin in their strategic reserves, other entities are exploring the addition of bitcoin to their corporate treasuries.

Q. How will the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) greenlighting retail access to crypto ETNs in the U.K. accelerate the retail & institutional adoption?

A. This marks an important moment for crypto products in the retail market as an asset class that reflects a broader shift in the U.K.’s regulatory stance toward digital assets. It is a complete reversal from a 2020 decision when the FCA banned crypto exchange-traded notes. ETNs will need to be traded on an FCA-approved investment exchange. The U.K. is shifting its approach to crypto as the government seeks to grow the economy and support a digital assets industry, sending a strong signal to institutional investors that the U.K. is positioning itself as a competing player in the global crypto market.

Philippine Senator Suggests Putting National Budget On-chain

by admin August 28, 2025

In brief

  • Senator Bam Aquino called for budget transactions to be recorded on-chain.
  • A formal bill proposing the measure is yet to be filed.
  • Blockchain solutions aren’t “a silver bullet against corruption,” a local blockchain infrastructure firm told Decrypt.

Philippine Senator Bam Aquino wants the country’s national budget placed on a blockchain platform, a move he said would make every peso spent traceable by citizens.

“No one is crazy enough to put their transactions on blockchain, where every single step of the way will be logged and transparent to every single citizen. But we want to start,” Aquino said in a statement at the Manila Tech Summit held on Wednesday.

“If we’re able to do this, I think we’ll be the first country to have our budget on the blockchain,” Aquino said, adding he’s unsure what kind of support he’d receive.

At the time of writing, no formal proposal on a blockchain-powered budget management system scaled for the country’s entire national budget has been filed. Representatives for Senator Aquino did not immediately return Decrypt’s request for comment.

But once formalized, Senator Aquino’s plan would build upon the Department of Budget and Management’s existing blockchain platform, which already records select financial documents and is the first live on-chain budget platform in Asia.

BayaniChain, the local blockchain infrastructure firm behind the DBM’s on-chain platform, welcomed Aquino’s remarks but clarified it is not directly involved with the senator.

“His vision aligns with ours: creating more transparent and accountable systems for the Philippines,” Paul Soliman, co-founder and CEO of BayaniChain, told Decrypt. “While blockchain is not a silver bullet against corruption, it creates immutable records that ensure accountability from government officials.”

Soliman said BayaniChain’s role is to provide the technology that links the Department of Budget and Management’s internal system to a public blockchain.

This setup allows key budget documents, such as Special Allotment Release Orders (SAROs) and Notices of Cash Allocation (NCAs), to be published and verified online, with the records secured on-chain.

Prismo, an orchestration layer, manages data handling, encryption, and validation. The DBM’s budget platform uses Polygon’s Proof-of-Stake network, an Ethereum scaling solution fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, as its consensus and transparency layer.

Hyperliquid’s XPL pre-contracts surged from $0.6 to $1.8 in just 5 minutes, fueling speculation of market manipulation as a few whales reportedly pocketed over $46M after massive short liquidations on the derivatives platform.

Summary

  • Four main wallets profited a combined total of $46M from the August 27 Hyperliquid’s XPL pre-contracts 200% price spike.
  • The spike was confined to Hyperliquid, with centralized exchanges Binance and Bitget showing no corresponding price movements due to Hyperliquid’s single internal oracle design.
  • 0xb9c…6801e wallet is believed to be associated with Justin Sun due to a historical ETH transfer to an address linked to him 5 years ago, though no direct evidence connects him to the Hyperliquid’s XPL incident.

On August 27, yet another market manipulation event unfolded on the decentralized derivatives platform Hyperliquid, as the token XPL experienced an extreme and rapid price spike. Beginning at approximately 5:50 AM Beijing time, the XPL price surged from around $0.6 to a peak of $1.8 within just five minutes, triggering a cascade of short position liquidations (mostly 1x hedge orders), before quickly falling back to around $0.06.

Analysis of blockchain data by @ai_9684xtpa indicates that four main wallets participated in the activity, collectively profiting approximately $46.1 million. The wallet starting with 0xb9c…6801e acted as the primary driver, depositing $16 million USD Coin (USDC) and placing aggressive buy orders that drove the XPL price sharply upward. This wallet closed a portion of its positions shortly after the peak, realizing $16 million in profit, while still holding an $8.28 million contract position in XPL.

This wallet, presumed to be associated with Justin Sun, just longed millions of $XPL on Hyperliquid, clearing the entire order book and liquidating everyone.

He then started closing his long, making $16M in just one minute. $XPL pumped to $1.80, which is over 200% in 2 minutes… pic.twitter.com/o1x1AdCLeE

— MLM (@mlmabc) August 26, 2025

Three additional wallets — 0xe417…, 0x006…, and 0x894… — ended up profiting from the resulting liquidations. These wallets had accumulated long positions in XPL in the days prior and began closing them near the short-term price peak, securing the remainder of the profits. 0xe417… and 0x006… share the same funding source. 0x894… is relatively independent, funded via Binance, and may have profited by coincidence.

Hyperliquid’s XPL price spike confined to Hyperliquid DEX by single-oracle dependency

Interestingly, the extreme price fluctuation resulting from 0xb9c’s longs occurred exclusively on Hyperliquid. Centralized exchanges Binance and Bitget, which also listed XPL pre-contracts, did not experience corresponding price changes.

Chinese crypto media BlockBeats, posting on Binance Square, attributed this to the design of Hyperliquid’s platform, which relies on a single internal oracle for price determination. Unlike centralized exchanges that aggregate data from multiple sources to stabilize prices, Hyperliquid’s oracle is highly sensitive to concentrated trades. As a result, aggressive buys by a few whales were sufficient to drive the local price up dramatically, without affecting the broader market.

Who is behind this?

While the identities behind the wallets remain unconfirmed, some community speculation has emerged due to historical on-chain activity.

Analyst @ai_9684xtpa noted that the 0xb9c wallet had previously transferred Ethereum (ETH) to an address associated with Justin Sun 5 years ago. However, there is no direct evidence linking him to this event.

This wallet, presumed to be associated with Justin Sun, just longed millions of $XPL on Hyperliquid, clearing the entire order book and liquidating everyone.

SBI Holdings to launch on-chain Tokenized Stock trading platform

by admin August 22, 2025

Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings is entering the tokenized stock market through a new partnership with Singapore-based blockchain company Startale Group. With this partnership, they plan to create an on-chain trading platform for tokenized stocks and real-world assets (RWAs).

🏦 🌍 BREAKING: Startale Group and SBI Holdings are joining forces to launch a revolutionary onchain trading platform for crypto, tokenized stocks and real-world assets (RWAs).

🤝 This partnership combines robust blockchain technology with decades of financial market expertise,… pic.twitter.com/dAIsigWjUf

— Startale 💿 (@StartaleGroup) August 22, 2025

As per the official announcement, the platform will combine SBI’s financial network with Startale’s blockchain technology, which will fill critical market gaps left by traditional tokenized stock services.

What will Platform offer?

The traditional stock markets close on evenings and weekends, but the platform will allow people to trade U.S. and Japanese stocks 24/7. The platform will further provide fractional ownership, allowing investors to purchase a fraction of a stock rather than a whole one, in addition to quick settlement of trades and institutional-grade security.

The new platform will also integrate with DeFi, thus enabling investors to employ tokenized stocks in various financial apps and services.

SBI Holdings oversees over $74 billion in assets and has over 65 million customers across the globe. The company views asset tokenization as the future of global finance. It also thinks this trend would one day make entire capital markets, including stock exchanges themselves, digitalized.

Future Plans

This move positions SBI among the firms such as Robinhood, Kraken, Gemini, and Bybit, which have recently broadened tokenized stock offerings. Specialists estimate that the market of tokenized assets will be worth $18.9 trillion in 2033, and SBI and Startale intend to create infrastructure to assist in this prospect.

Yoshitaka Kitao, CEO of SBI Holdings, said that the tokenization of real-world assets is transforming global markets. He also predicts, “This movement will eventually lead to the digitalization of capital markets themselves, including exchanges. By capturing this trend and by leveraging our corporate ecosystem together with Startale’s blockchain technology, we have great expectations for creating a new decentralized platform.”

For this, SBI and Startale will form two joint venture companies—one to handle the technology development, and another to manage brand growth and business expansion.

Funding for the project will be released step by step based on progress milestones, ensuring careful growth toward commercial launch. The companies said more details, including the launch date, will be announced as development continues.

1 Billion XRP Mark Lost: On-Chain Activity in Shambles

by admin August 22, 2025

  • XRP payments’ volume drops
  • Market performance

XRP is coming under increasing pressure followed by a substantial network volume decline. After the rise of momentum, the asset has now fallen below important technical and fundamental thresholds, painting a questionable future outlook.

XRP payments’ volume drops

The volume of XRP payments has sharply decreased, according to on-chain data. When it peaked earlier in August, daily account-to-account transactions regularly remained at or above one billion XRP. But according to recent data, payment volumes have drastically decreased, dropping to about 522 million XRP on Aug. 21. There is a noticeable halt in the momentum, which indicates that XRP’s network activity is becoming less useful and interesting.

XRP/USDT Chart by TradingView

In light of Ripple’s long-standing advocacy for adoption in institutional transfers and remittances, persistent payment weakness may erode trust in the asset. The market chart illustrates this deteriorating environment. XRP is currently having trouble around $2.85, following a robust rally in July that lifted the asset above $3.50. Technically, the price has broken below the rising trendline that had previously held up its bullish structure.

Market performance

At $2.79, XRP is trading just above its 100-day EMA, which could serve as a short-term support level. If this level does not hold, the next significant support, which is in line with the 200-day EMA, is located closer to $2.45. Additionally, momentum indicators point to a lack of strength.

You Might Also Like

On-chain activity must increase again, with payment volumes returning to the one billion XRP mark in order for XRP to stabilize. In terms of technical analysis, the first indications of fresh strength would be the recovery of the ascending trendline and breaking above the resistance at $3 per hour. The market is in ruins after losing a vital basis of price structure and network utility, and XRP is still at risk until then.

Ether (ETH) Resurgence Gains Steam Driven by Spot ETF Demand and On-Chain Growth: Citi

by admin August 20, 2025

After enduring a drawdown of more than 55% earlier this year and lagging peers amid tariff-driven risk-off sentiment, ether (ETH) has staged a powerful comeback, Wall Street bank Citi (C) said in a research report on Tuesday.

The second-largest cryptocurrency is now up nearly 30% year-to-date, testing bitcoin’s (BTC) dominance in a way not seen since late last year. This time, however, ether is taking market share rather than ceding it, the report said.

Spot ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have seen a surge of demand. Cumulative net inflows now top $13 billion, up from just $2.6 billion in April, analysts Alex Saunders and Nathaniel Rupert wrote.

As ETF balances grow, flows are playing a more direct role in price dynamics, the analysts said.

Ether treasury firms have also joined the bid, with large purchases beginning in May. Their collective holdings now hover near $10 billion at current market values, while the equity valuations of these companies have expanded alongside ether’s rally, the report noted.

Blockchain data shows large wallets accumulating ether while smaller investors trim exposure. Ether balances on centralized exchanges continue to decline, signaling a shift of supply back on-chain. This dynamic could be amplifying the latest leg higher, creating a squeeze-like effect, the report added.

While the rally has been sharp, the bank’s analysts caution it isn’t purely technical. On-chain activity has picked up, reinforcing the move with stronger fundamentals. Combined with a macro backdrop that resembles a “goldilocks” environment, neither too hot nor too cold, ether’s resurgence could have legs, particularly with supportive regulatory signals and bullish narratives in play.
