007 First Light officially revealed as the title for Hitman dev’s James Bond game, and we’ll see it in action later this week

by admin June 3, 2025

IO Interactive has officially dropped the first real news on its in-development James Bond game since it was initially announced back in 2020. The game is called 007 First Light, and IO revealed it with nothing but a single piece of art on Twitter.

The good news is that we won’t have to wait too long to actually see more, because IO is planning some big events this week.

Alongside this teaser, the developer also announced its first-ever showcase. Dubbed IOI Showcase, the event is being held in person in Los Angeles this Friday, June 6. It’s also going ot be livestreamed, of course, kicking off at 6pm PT, 9pm ET, 2am UK.

As you may have already realised, that’s a few hours after Summer Game Fest’s kick-off show, which will be going live 2pm PT on the same day. It’s very likely that Geoff Keighley’s show will bring a first-look teaser that directs viewers towards the showcase taking place a couple of hours afterwards.

The IOI Showcase will deliver our first look at gameplay, but it’s also going to offer some updates on IOI Partners games such as the upcoming MindsEye, as well as some Hitman news for good measure.

007 First Light does not have a release target, and though it was initially announced as a multi-platform title (and the start of a trilogy), the only officially confirmed one of those is the upcoming Switch 2. The game will very likely also be released day-and-date on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Friday’s event will no doubt clear all that up for us, and maybe even provide a proper release date for one of the most mysterious games currently in development.

007 First Light is an origin story with an original character that’s not based on any existing Bond portrayal in the films. It stars a young James Bond with his own stories in a separate canon.

Elden Ring Nightreign director says Fromsoft "kind of overlooked and neglected" playing as a duo, but 2 player-friendly "post-launch support" is being considered

Duo Expeditions will officially come to Elden Ring Nightreign, as the game passes 3.5 million players

by admin June 3, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign launched missing many, many features most of us expect in modern multiplayer games. The co-op action RPG is designed for three players, and that’s about the only optimal way to play it.

There’s no option for Duos, and though you can start the game’s Expeditions (runs) as a solo player, you’re not going to have a fun time. But, FromSoftware is seemingly listening, and the developer just announced some major news.

Earlier today, the FromSoftware revealed (via the official Elden Ring Twitter account) that the game has surpassed 3.5 million players. The wording of the tweet does not specify whether those were actual sales or simply just player numbers.

Seeing as Nightreign has been doing very well on Steam – making it FromSoft’s second-biggest launch ever, 3.5 million copies sounds very plausible when you keep in mind other platforms, too.

Alongside this news, the developer also shared some early details about a number of features currently in the works, which will arrive in the game at various points in the future. Firstly: Duos. Yes, the ability to play Nightreign with just one other player – something modders are already working on making possible – is being worked on.

The announcement did not say when we can expect Duo Expeditions to arrive, offering nothing beyond “at a later date” as the release target. This is the studio’s first official acknowledgement of the desire for a Duos mode, which is good to see.

In twos they [will soon] come. | Image credit: FromSoftware

The game’s most recent patch, which arrived yesterday, made things a little less frustrating for solo players – even if the game remains very much not designed for solos. More tweaks in that vein are in the works, too.

Something else you can expect to see later this month are “enhanced fights against existing Nightlords,” which is just the type of vague language FromSoft loves to use. There’s also the previously-announced DLC, which is set to arrive later in the year.

If you’re knee-deep the game right now, our Elden Ring Nightreign guide is one worth bookmarking. Even if you’re already on top of your Executor, and Revenant builds, you’re going to find plenty of useful info to help you wrap your head around those map events, how to unlock skins for your characters and much more.

IOI’s James Bond game name officially announced ahead of full reveal this week

by admin June 2, 2025

IOI’s upcoming James Bond game has finally got itself an actual name, after years of it being known as Project 007.

IOI first announced its James Bond game back in 2021, and since then details on the project have been few and far between. However, that is set to change soon, with the developer today announcing the upcoming release will officially be called 007: First Light, with a full reveal promised for later this week.

This reveal will feature “never-before-seen footage”, the developer has teased, calling this the start of a “new era for James Bond in video games”.

Along with this announcement, the studio also shared a teaser image, showing a male character – call me Miss Marple, but I am going to say this is none other than James Bond himself – bathed in shadow. You can see the image in the header above.

Towards the end of last year, IOI said it hopes its upcoming James Bond origin story will be the start of a trilogy, adding the release will not be a “gamification of a movie”.

“It’s completely beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future. And equally important and exciting, it’s a new Bond,” IOI boss Hakan Abrak said in October.

“It’s a Bond we built from the ground up for gamers. It’s extremely exciting with all the tradition and all the history there is… to work on this together with the family [and create] a Bond that the gamers can call their own and grow with.”

Meanwhile back in April, IOI’s James Bond game was additionally confirmed for Switch 2, although no release date was teased along with this announcement.

Hopefully we will learn more later this week. While the developer hasn’t yet said when its 007: First Light reveal will be, I am going to make a guess it will crop up at Summer Game Fest’s opening night this Friday. Stay tuned!

Displate stuns with officially licensed Disney signs

by admin May 30, 2025

Here at GamingTrend we are huge fans of Displate, with most of us having multiple signs at home. Recently, Displate were kind enough to send me over a few pieces from their officially licensed Disney posters to celebrate my wife’s theatrical production of The Little Mermaid, JR, and to say that my wife was surprised is an understatement. She absolutely loved each piece and has already made plans to add to the collection.

The first piece I chose was, obviously, based around The Little Mermaid, specifically one which highlights Ursula and Aeriel’s struggle. This fantastic metal poster measures in at a staggering 26.6″ x 18.9″, making it stand out on any wall, and I choose the textra finish, which is a 3D-enhanced print, allowing the details to pop off the poster.

Next, I chose The Lion King, specifically the iconic Hakuna Matata scene, in a glossy textra print which also measures in at 26.6″ x 18.9″. This is my favorite piece of the bunch, and a definite conversation starter. Who doesn’t love The Lion King?

I then went for an original piece of artwork from an artist who does portraits of various Disney princesses, and got a medium sized matte print of Jasmine, my wife’s favorite princess. This stunning artwork measures in at 17.7″ x 12.6″ and looks fantastic on our wall and has led to many conversations from guests. Eventually my wife hopes to continue this collection, adding in the other Disney princess portraits.

Finally, I had to get something fun to add to my wife’s cat collection in her bathroom, so obviously I went with a glossy medium print of a parody on the iconic “The Scream” artwork by Edvard Munch. Again, this has quickly become a highlight of our bathroom art. This piece also measures in at 17.7″ x 12.6″.

Displate posters are incredibly easy to hang and allow for easy swapping between pieces on a whim. To attach to your wall, you simply apply the included protective leaf to your wall, which prevents hurting your paint, and then apply the magnet on top of the protective leaf. Afterwards, you simply attach the metal sign to the magnet. Larger prints come with multiple magnets to ensure they remain in place. Throughout my years of collecting Displate artwork, I have never had an issue with a magnet failing or the Displate so much as moving out of place. They are a fantastic way to display art, and I absolutely love having the option to switch out art pieces whenever I please by simply removing a piece from a magnet and placing a new piece on that magnet.

Overall, if you’re on the fence about purchasing a Displate, don’t be. At this point I own upwards of 15 pieces and am constantly struggling not to spend my paycheck on purchasing more. They are a fantastic way to display your favorite art pieces without hurting your walls and will almost certainly become a center piece at your next get together. Whether you’re a Disney fan, a video game fan, or a movie fan, there is almost certainly hundreds of designs you’ll find yourself drawn to. Do yourself a favor and check out Displate today!

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel gets a new name as pre-production phase now officially underway

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel gets a new name as pre-production phase now officially underway

by admin May 28, 2025

CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has officially shed its Project Orion codename and will henceforth be known as Cyberpunk 2. That’s as the studio provides its latest development update, confirming it’s now entered the pre-production phase.

A Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, codenamed Project Orion, was formally announced back in 2022, and CD Projekt has been providing investors with progress updates on its development since then. Most recently, back in March, it revealed Project Orion was nearing the end of its concept phase and would be entering pre-production “in the coming weeks”. And now, as per the studio’s Q1 2025 earnings results, pre-production is officially underway.

Announcing its latest development milestone, CD Projekt also took the opportunity to jettison the Project Orion codename and instead begin referring to the sequel simply as Cyberpunk 2. This doesn’t, however, mean the name will permanently stick; CD Projekt told The Verge Cyberpunk 2 “just means it’s another game in the Cyberpunk universe.”

Despite these notable developments, Cyberpunk 2’s team size has only seen a modest increase since the beginning of the year, with 96 developer now confirmed to be working on the project versus 84 in February. The bulk of the studio, as expected, is currently focused on The Witcher 4, with 422 employees assigned to the project. That’s compared to the modest 49 developers working on multiplayer The Witcher spin-off Project Sirius, and the 19 on Project Hadar – which is planned to be the studio’s first-ever original game.

All these production updates were accompanied by a number of sales milestones. Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Project Liberty has, for instance, now sold over 10m copies, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary – has seen over 60m sales.

As for what’s next, CD Projekt has been priming a Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 to release alongside the console next week, and a Mac port is also on the way. The Ciri-starring Witcher 4 is likely still some considerable way off, with the newly monikered Cyberpunk 2 – which will reportedly take players to second city like “Chicago gone wrong” – to follow.

Cyberpunk 2, which is now officially called Cyberpunk 2, has entered pre-production, but don’t expect it out before 2030

by admin May 28, 2025

Sound the “it’s happening” klaxon, folks, because it’s happening: CD Projekt announced today that Cyberpunk 2—which, by the way, the studio is now calling Cyberpunk 2 instead of Project Orion—is now in the “pre-production phase” of development.

It’s not the biggest surprise of the year—we’ve known since 2023 that a new Cyberpunk game is in the works from a new Boston branch of CDPR, after all—and “pre-production” is still very early on in the process. Even so, CD Projekt chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz said it’s a pretty big deal during today’s earnings highlights presentation.

“The Phantom Liberty expansion has reached another sales milestone, having been purchased by 10 million gamers,” Nielubowicz said. “This is an excellent result, given that only 20 months have passed since its release, and it confirms sustained interest in the Cyberpunk universe on the part of the gaming community.

“Given these developments, it fills me with even greater satisfaction to announce another important stage in our work on the next big game in this franchise: Several weeks ago, Cyberpunk 2—previously referred to as Project Orion—wrapped up its conceptual phase and entered pre-production. Congratulations to the entire team!”

CD Projekt’s focus is still firmly on The Witcher 4, which entered “full-scale production” in late 2024, but Cyberpunk 2 will see a boost throughout 2025: During an investors call, CD Projekt joint CEO Michał Nowakowski said the Cyberpunk 2 development team “will be our primary recruitment focus” for 2025.

As for what this means as far as a possible release date, the short answer is that Cyberpunk 2 remains a very long way off. In response to a speculative question suggesting that previous development timelines from pre-production to full release puts the Cyberpunk 2 release in late 2030 or early 2031, Nowakowski did not disagree.

“I can reiterate in a way what I said in one of the previous calls, which was basically that our journey from pre-production to final release takes four to five years on average,” Nowakowski said. “Having said that, keep in mind that each project is unique, and there are many variables that influence the final outcome. So I will not lead you into specific years, but yes, this is pretty much how it looks.”

Elden Ring live-action film officially in development

by admin May 24, 2025

An Elden Ring live-action film has been officially confirmed, written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Warfare).

Film production company A24 and Bandai Namco are both behind the project, based on FromSoftware’s 30m-selling RPG.

George R. R. Martin is one of a handful of producers, Deadline reported. The A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) author was responsible for the game’s story and characters.

It’s unclear if FromSoftware itself is involved, or the game’s creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich are all producers from British film company DNA (which helped producer Garland’s films).

No further details are available at this time, so it’s unknown what the plot will focus on, as well as casting details or a release date.

We’re thrilled to announce that Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and A24 are teaming up with writer and director Alex Garland to bring FromSoftware Inc.’s world-renowned video game ELDEN RING to life as a live-action film.

Rumours have previously swirled about an Elden Ring film, with Martin in particular hinting at its possibility.

“I have nothing to say. Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me. What rumour?” he said in 2024 on his personal blog.

Then earlier this year, Martin said there was “some talk” about the film but his involvement would be limited due to him being busy finishing up a certain book series.

Of course, Elden Ring has already been adapted in Japan into a manga series, which turns the game into a farce with its Tarnished wretch struggling to survive.

There’s also a fan-made Elden Ring anime in the works, due out later this year.

FromSoftware is following up Elden Ring this month with multiplayer spin-off Nightreign – it’s convinced me a multiplayer Souls game can work.

Michael Bay Skibidi Toilet adaptation officially in production

by admin May 21, 2025

A Skibidi Toilet adaptation from Michael Bay is officially in production.

The project was first floated last year, when it was reported there had been talks to launch a Skibidi Toilet film and TV franchise, with The Rock and Armageddon director attached. It left me scratching my head a bit, to be honest.

Does Anyone Really Want Long Games Anymore?Watch on YouTube

But fast forward to today, and those talks are now firmed up, with the news that yes, we are indeed going to be getting a Skibidi Toilet adaptation from Michael Bay.

Media Company Invisible Narratives – of which Bay serves as a chief creative advisor – will be producing, developing, and financing the project. You can see an image of its Skibidi Toilet project on the company’s website (or you can look at the screenshot I took below).

Bay along with partner Jeffrey Beecroft have reportedly been working on their Skibidi Toilet project since last summer, with a press release stating it is “an early creative take on the franchise”, which will bring “Bay’s signature visual intensity to one of the internet’s most unlikely breakout IPs”.

Skibidi Toilet, for those still mercifully unaware, is an enormously-popular online animation series made using Valve’s Source Filmmaker software and featuring assets from Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike. It features a race of evil toilets with human heads, and has clocked up a whopping 65bn views on YouTube, another 15bn on Tiktok, and is ubiquitous on Roblox, where countless spin-off games lie.

Elsewhere in adaptation news, yesterday Netflix announced it was gearing up to release a Clash of Clans animated series, which will feature a “determined but in-over-his-head Barbarian who must rally a band of misfits to defend their village and navigate the comically absurd politics of war”.
