New Pokemon 3D Model Kits Are Officially Licensed And Only 20 Bucks

by admin October 1, 2025

Spin Master’s 4D Build puzzle brand already includes licensed models based on major entertainment franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. Now you can add Pokemon to that list, too. Spin Master has launched four buildable models of classic Pokemon. The Starter Pokemon from Generation 1–Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur–have been turned into budget-friendly 3D model kits.

Each Pokemon 4D Build retails for $22, but Amazon is offering a 10% discount on all of them. Some 4D Build puzzles are constructed out of cardstock, but the Pokemon models use higher-end EPS foam pieces that connect together like puzzle pieces. You don’t need scissors, glue, or anything other than your hands, the punch-out foam sheets in the box, and the instruction booklet.

$20 (was $22)

The Pikachu model showcases the Pokemon mascot’s thunder attack, complete with bolts of electricity attached to the display stand. Pikachu is constructed from 201 pieces of EPS foam from the 16 included punch-out sheets. As mentioned, you don’t need any tools to create one of 4D Build’s models; these are essentially 3D puzzles.

The Pikachu model is 9.7 x 11.6 x 12.9 inches, so it’s a fairly large display piece for the price.

$20 (was $22)

This adorable Squirtle model showcases Gen 1’s Water-type Starter catching a wave–after teaching the little guy HM03 (Surf), of course. The 16 foam sheets contain 180 punch-out pieces. Once completed, Squirtle measures 9.3 x 10.1 x 9.2 inches.

$20 (was $22)

Charmander’s 4D Build is the most complex of the four in the launch lineup. The model measures 9.8 x 9.3 x 10 inches and is constructed from 241 pieces from 16 foam sheets. The Fire-type Starter Pokemon’s stand is fittingly decorated with flames.

$20 (was $22)

Generation 1’s Grass-type Starter Bulbasaur is a 195-piece model with a stand that’s decorated with leaves. The completed model is 9.3 x 11.4 x 9.4 inches.

If you’d like to build other Pokemon models with different materials, there are several brands with officially licensed Pokemon model and building sets. While Lego’s first Pokemon sets won’t launch until next year, Mega Bloks has a large selection of buildable figures and playsets featuring popular Pokemon. You’ll also find small Bandai Hobby Pokemon model kits on Amazon, some of which are priced under $10.

Mega Bloks: Pokemon Retro Sets

Retro enthusiasts should also check out the Target-exclusive Pokemon Retro Sets. Part of the Mega Bloks Pokemon series, each of these builds creates a pixelated version of a Gen 1 Pokemon. You can display the Pokemon on the included stand or mount it to a wall. Target is offering steep discounts on several of the Pokemon Retro Sets, including Mew for $12.49 and Pikachu for $12.74.

Japan’s space agency officially ends decade-plus mission that carried Hatsune Miku into space one year after losing probe somewhere above Venus

by admin September 21, 2025

Hatsune Miku’s voyage through space has finally come to an end after 15 long years. The Japanese space probe Akatsuki has officially ceased operations, as reported by Automaton. The probe was originally launched on May 21, 2010, after famously being decorated with some 13,000 Hatsune Miku drawings and messages submitted by fans.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) sent the probe next door to Venus to study the planet’s weather patterns and look for “signs of active volcanism.” The probe also captured some stunning images of Venus that show the milky coffee hues of its atmosphere. JAXA reported that it lost contact with the probe in April 2024 and operations were officially terminated on Thursday. Akatsuki was the only operational probe specifically focused on studying Venus over the past ten years.

The Akatsuki team announced the shut down in a post on X (formerly Twitter), as translated by Automaton: “We have concluded operations of the Venus probe Akatsuki. Since last year we have been attempting to restore communications, but determined that recovery would be difficult, and so we have drawn this chapter to a close. We sincerely thank everyone who has supported Akatsuki over the 15 years since its launch.”

Related articles

Ahead of Akatsuki’s launch in 2010, JAXA invited the general public to send in art and messages to get etched into the probe’s aluminum balance weights. Fans of the voice synthesizer program Vocaloid, which (at the time) powered Hatsune Miku, saw the opportunity to send their favorite fictional pop star to the stars.

They sent in over 13,000 drawings and messages to go on Akatsuki, turning part of the probe into a monument to Miku. JAXA let it fly (literally) and the Hatsune Miku art got to spend 15 long years orbiting Venus.

While Venus may not have any robot friends flying around it at the moment, a few new missions are in the works. NASA is working on two probes, DAVINCI and VERITAS, both slated for launch in the early 2030s, and the European Space Agency is planning to send its EnVision probe to Venus sometime in the next decade, as well.

Spotify Lossless is officially on the way: these are the 5 main things you need to know

by admin September 13, 2025

Now that Spotify Lossless is coming, us loyal subscribers can sit back and relax after what feels like an eternity since it was first announced. The announcement has raised a number of questions about Spotify’s biggest upgrade yet, and we’re here to answer them for you.

It’s exciting to finally be able to listen to music on Spotify without it sounding like it’s being played through a cloth, but there are some key things to note before you enable lossless audio. From when it will be available to the nitty gritty technical details, here are five points to bear in mind when it comes to Spotify Lossless.

1. It’s rolling out now, but not everywhere

In classic Spotify style, Lossless has already started rolling out to Premium users in a handful of regions and will gradually continue to spread to more than 50 countries throughout October, as per Spotify’s initial announcement.

You may like

Premium users in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access. As for its availability outside of these countries, Spotify hasn’t revealed its full list of other regions that will have access to Lossless yet.

2. It’s slightly better than Hi-Res, but doesn’t match competitors

Spotify Lossless allows you to stream songs up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, which our audio editor Becky Scarrott says is “actually better than CD-quality” – which is specified as 16-bit/44.1kHz. Spotify has stated that Lossless is available “across nearly every song” in its library.

However, its streaming competitors offer slightly better audio quality. For comparison’s sake, Apple Music (via AAC and ALAC) and Tidal (via AAC, ALAC and FLAC) both offer a maximum bitrate of 24-bit/192KHz lossless audio quality. Both platforms offer this across their entire song catalog.

3. Spotify Lossless works with Spotify Connect

As well as being available on mobile, tablet and desktop (with the right gear), Spotify Lossless can be used when playing music on devices that support Spotify Connect, such as Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, Samsung, and more. Support for Amazon and Sonos devices will also land next month.

Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.

However, it’s going to take a little more time before Bluetooth devices will be able to support Lossless as many don’t yet support the new generation of codecs that can transmit CD-quality audio, such as aptX Lossless. Spotify shared the following on the matter: “Currently, Bluetooth doesn’t provide enough bandwidth to transmit lossless audio, so the signal has to be compressed before being sent.”

4. You have to enable it yourself

Unlike Apple Music where lossless and hi-res audio is the default, you’ll have to enable Lossless in Spotify’s settings manually. To do this, tap your profile icon in the top left of the Spotify app, and head to Settings and Privacy. From there, select Media Quality, and the Lossless option will appear with other audio streaming options for WiFi, cellular, and downloads.

Instead of setting Lossless as the default, Spotify has kept its other custom Low, Normal, High, and Very High audio quality settings, acknowledging that everyone listens differently.

5. Be weary with how you use it

It’s great to finally be able to listen with lossless audio in Spotify, but you should note that listening to music with Lossless enabled means it comes with a larger streaming and download size. Listening with Spotify Lossless will use roughly 1GB an hour.

Life Is Strange TV Series Officially Happening After 9 Years

by admin September 7, 2025

Amazon MGM Studios has announced that its Life is Strange TV series is officially going ahead with a greenlight order. The TV series is based on the game franchise and has been ordered straight to series. The show’s creator and showrunner is Charlie Covell, who previously adapted The End of the F***king World and Kaos.

Square Enix, which owns the rights to the game series, is producing the TV show, along with Sonic the Hedgehog movie producers Story Kitchen and Margot Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap.

“It’s a huge honor to be adapting Life Is Strange for Amazon MGM Studios,” Covell said in a statement. “I am a massive fan of the game, and I’m thrilled to be working with the incredible teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen and LuckyChap.”

The story of the TV series will follow Max and Chloe, the two main characters from the first game. The conceit in the game is that Max can rewind time, but obviously a lot of horrible stuff happens.

“I can’t wait to share Max and Chloe’s story with fellow players and new audiences alike,” Covell said.

A TV show based on Life is Strange has been in the works for nearly a decade, but this is the first time it’s actually receiving an official order to me made. In 2021, it was revealed that singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes was in the mix to oversee the music in the show, but it’s unclear if that’s still the case.

It’s been a busy week for news about film and TV video game adaptations. Before this, Paramount announced a Call of Duty movie, Amazon announced Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in its Tomb Raider series, Netflix cancelled The Legend of Lara Croft, and the Street Fighter movie got a release date and cast.

Life is Strange joins not only the Tomb Raider series at Amazon, but also a long-in-development God of War series and Season 2 of Fallout. Amazon also has the Mass Effect TV show and the Wolfenstein TV show.

The Life is Strange series was created by French developer Dontnod and launched in 2015. It spawned multiple sequels, the latest of which was 2024’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure from Deck Nine.

Bitcoin (BTC) Officially Decouples From Gold

by admin September 5, 2025

Bitcoin’s price continues to trade between $107,000 and $113,000 at September’s start as volatility drops. Meanwhile, gold is trading near record highs, putting the correlation between the two assets into spotlight.

Maartunn, a community analyst at CryptoQuant, observed that Bitcoin has now decoupled from gold in a recent tweet.

According to Maartunn, for the first time in over six months (since February 2025), the correlation between BTC and gold has just turned negative. The analyst suggests that this shift might imply a divergence in the safe haven narrative.

Bitcoin staged a rebound from a low of $107,250 on Sept. 1, rising for three days at a stretch to reach a high of $112,600 on Wednesday before retreating.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading down 0.7% in the last 24 hours to $110,578. Spot gold traded slightly above $3,500 after surpassing that level previously for the first time.

Markets await next move

As the Bitcoin price consolidates, markets target their next move with clues on Fed’s interest rate positioning awaited from the upcoming September meeting scheduled for the 16th and 17th.

In the latest economic data release, private payrolls rose by only 54,000 in August, below the expected 75,000 polled by Dow Jones economists, which marks a drop from an increase of 106,000 seen in the past month.

Jobless claims increased to 237,000, up 8,000 from the prior week and above estimates, offering further evidence of a labor market slowdown. Following this, investors will focus their attention on Friday’s big jobs report.

Labor market concerns have prompted traders to build on bets that the Federal Reserve might cut rates at its meeting later this month, with the odds now reaching 97.4%.

Call of Duty film adaptation officially in the works from Paramount

by admin September 2, 2025

A live-action film adaptation of Call of Duty is in the works at Paramount, having signed a deal with Activision Blizzard.

Paramount – now under media company Skydance – has announced the news (thanks Deadline), with CEO David Ellison a big fan of the series. Activision will be a creative partner on the film.

“As a lifelong fan of Call of Duty this is truly a dream come true,” said Ellison. “From the first Allied campaigns in the original Call of Duty, through Modern Warfare and Black Ops, I’ve spent countless hours playing this franchise that I absolutely love. Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honour and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly.”

The film will follow the studio’s 2022 film Top Gun: Maverick. “We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve,” continued Ellison.

“I can promise that we are resolute in our mission to deliver a cinematic experience that honours the legacy of this one-in-a-million brand – thrilling longtime fans of Call of Duty while captivating a whole new generation.”

President of Activision Rob Kostich added: “Throughout its history, Call of Duty has captured our imagination with incredible action and intense stories that have brought millions of people together from around the world, and that focus on making incredible Call of Duty games remains unwavering. With Paramount, we have found a fantastic partner who we will work with to take that visceral, breathtaking action to the big screen in a defining cinematic moment. The film will honour and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started. Our shared goal is quite simple – to create an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that our community loves, and one that also excites and inspires new fans of the franchise.”

Call of Duty is ripe for a cinematic adaptation, both for its action-packed setpieces and millions of sales.

It will follow other game adaptations in recent years, including Nintendo’s multiple projects, Sony’s The Last of Us TV show, FromSoftware’s massive Elden Ring, classic Sega racing game OutRun, and horror games like Phasmophobia and The Medium.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.

Call of Duty movie officially in the works

by admin September 2, 2025

Paramount has agreed a deal with Activision to turn the blockbuster Call of Duty game franchise into a big-budget movie.

Since launching in 2003, Call of Duty has transformed into one of the most successful game titles on the planet.

The many, many CoD sequels and spinoffs have sold more 500 million games worldwide, and those titles boast over 100 million active players across all platforms.

As first-person shooters that lean heavily into war, they’re an obvious fit for a film adaptation, but Hollywood has failed to crack the code… until now.

According to Variety, Paramount will “develop, produce, and distribute a live-action feature film,” while the deal also “encompasses the potential for Paramount to expand the CoD universe across film and TV.” Meaning the studio’s plans should play into Hollywood’s current buzz-word: ‘shared universe.’

There are no details about what game or subject the proposed movie will focus on, but those involved have been talking up the deal.

German politicians officially open Gamescom 2025

by admin August 23, 2025

German political guests of honor officially opened Gamescom on August 20, 2025, with speakers highlighting the importance of the event and the games industry.

Among the political guests of honour were Dorothee Bär, Germany’s federal minister responsible for video games; Hendrik Wüst, minister-president of North Rhine-Westphalia; and Henriette Reker, mayor of Cologne and chairwoman of the supervisory board of Koelnmesse.

In their speeches, speakers highlighted the importance of the games industry and Gamescom, while emphasising policymakers’ goal for Germany to become one of the world’s leading games locations.

“The gaming sector holds great cultural, economic, and technological potential, impressive proof of which is on display at gamescom year after year, ” said Bär. “Strengthening the international competitiveness of our gaming location is important to me so that we can all benefit more from the potential of digital games in the future.

“To do so, games funding must be plannable and reliable. As a first step, funding will therefore be more than doubled. Looking to the future, we are working to introduce tax incentives, as has already been done in other countries.”

Hendrik Wüst said: “With outstanding developer studios and the world’s top event for video games, North Rhine-Westphalia is the [number one] games state. The long-term commitment of gamescom to Cologne this year is a strong signal for North Rhine-Westphalia. It’s where innovations are developed, which drive the entire economy forward.

“Video games create jobs, promote creative thinking and connect people across borders. North Rhine-Westphalia is leading the way and has developed a new, modern and market-oriented games funding guideline.

“It focuses specifically on small, up-and-coming projects, as start-ups are crucial to ensuring that the games ecosystem grows and remains vibrant. This focus complements federal funding in the best possible way. The new federal government has finally got things moving in the games sector.”

Breaking: Ripple Case Officially Over as Appeals Court Approves Dismissal

by admin August 22, 2025

After more than four years of back-and-forth litigation, it’s finally over.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has officially closed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) v. Ripple case at the appellate level.

Earlier this year, the SEC and Ripple filed a joint stipulation in the appeals court in order to request the dismissal of the agency’s appeal as well as Ripple’s cross-appeal.

The appeals court has now accepted the joint stipulation, officially putting an end to the grueling legal case that has dragged on since late 2020.

As reported by U.Today, the SEC and Ripple reached a settlement earlier this year following the exit of former Chair Gary Gensler. The SEC agreed to reduce Ripple’s monetary penalty as well as drop the permanent injunction preventing the company from conducting institutional XRP sales in the US.

However, the case has now ended with Judge Torreses’s final judgment remaining intact after she refused to amend it.

XRP’s tepid reaction

The price of the XRP token has barely budged following the recent development, which has been mostly priced in by the market.

However, it is still up by nearly 7% over the past 24 hours after the Federal Reserve’s dovish U-turn.
