Trump Makes Travis Hill Pick Official as Choice to Run FDIC

by admin October 1, 2025

The acting chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Bureau, Travis Hill, has been nominated by President Donald Trump to take over the role more permanently, which would elevate an official who has leaned hard against the trend of debanking that plagued crypto insiders and their businesses.

Hill, a former staffer at the Senate Banking Committee, has sought to rethink the banking regulator’s previous resistance to crypto banking and has opposed any past FDIC connection to debanking customers from industries — such as the digital assets sector — that banks may consider risky.

As with other financial agencies, the administration hasn’t raced to fill board vacancies at the FDIC, leaving Hill alone among the dedicated directors, though the chiefs of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau have automatic spots on the five-member board. Hill will need to be confirmed by the Senate before he can take on the chairmanship officially.

The Trump administration has been slow to install some of the key leaders at its financial regulators, including those with the most potential authority over crypto matters, such as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. But even the agencies under temporary management have been pushing a pro-crypto agenda as Trump continues to hold the industry in favor.

The FDIC was at the center of the industry’s banking crisis, and a Freedom of Information Act campaign conducted by Coinbase revealed a trove of letters from the regulator to banks cautioning them against doing crypto business. After Hill arrived at the agency, he unveiled more of those communications.

In March, Hill’s FDIC reversed an earlier policy that required bankers to get prior government approval before taking on new crypto activities.

Official Final Fantasy Tactics Apparel Is Available At Amazon

by admin September 30, 2025

A cult-classic Final Fantasy spin-off has gotten a new lease on life with the launch of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, and if you’re looking to show off your love for that franchise, then you can do so with some new clothing. Available now through Amazon and the Square Enix Store, these are official T-shirts and long-sleeve tops that have original art from the game on the front. They’re available in a wide range of colors and are ready to ship out.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles clothing

The first $20 T-shirt has the official key art for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles on the front with a square print that features Ramza, Delita, and their allies. Black is the default–and best–color for this top, but if you’d prefer something more vibrant, there are 14 other colors to choose from. The $25 long-sleeve top has an identical design, and you can choose from black, navy blue, and dark heather grey for this option.

The second T-shirt design is also priced at $20, and the art is purely focused on Ramza and Delita on their own, with enlarged illustrations of the duo. There are 17 different colors to choose from for the T-shirt, and five colors for the $25 long-sleeve top. For sizing, both T-shirts are available in men’s and women’s cuts, while the long-sleeves have a unisex fit.

Out now for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles modernizes the beloved game with new voiceovers, enhanced graphics, and several quality-of-life adjustments.

“Final Fantasy Tactics is a formative game in the tactical RPG genre, and still one of the greatest,” Steve Watts wrote in GameSpot’s review, giving it a score of 9/10. “Its unforgettable story has never been better told thanks to a retouched translation, stellar voice acting, and smart new tools to help track all of the palace intrigue.”

Metal Gear Solid 5’s Official Strategy Guide Is Still Available 10 Years Later

by admin September 25, 2025

Metal Gear fans are likely busy working their way through the recent Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake, but those looking to add a unique piece to their Metal Gear merch collection back at Mother Base should take a quick detour to procure the official Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain strategy guide. Not only is it–surprisingly–still available at Amazon nearly a decade after it first launched, it’s also discounted to $19.70 (was $25).

This a cool piece of official merch for the final game in the Metal Gear series–though if you haven’t played the game it’s based on yet, you can also grab The Phantom Pain and its standalone prequel chapter, Ground Zeroes, for just $23 on PlayStation or PC with the Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience.

$19.70 (was $25)

This paperback guide sits at 368 pages, offering an in-depth look at everything you’d ever need to know about The Phantom Pain. From detailed mission walkthroughs to diagrams and analysis of the game’s many systems, the guide leaves no stone unturned. It also comes with a story recap–so even if you’ve lost track of what’s happening in the convoluted MGS universe, you should be able to dive into MGS V without any trouble.

As an added bonus, it comes with a poster that offers a detailed look at the world map.

The guide was published by Piggback, a company that’s published guides for Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Cyberpunk 2077, and other high-profile games. It’s also from the same team that previously worked on guides for other Metal Gear Solid titles–so it’s all but guaranteed to offer an accurate, in-depth look at MGS V.

A Collector’s Edition of the guide was also released, but is out of print. This version includes a few exclusive goodies like a lithograph by Yoji Shinkawa and an art gallery. It’s hard to come by, but new and used copies occasionally surface from third-party resellers on Amazon.

Of course, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the title stealing the spotlight right now. Our review gave it a superb 9/10, as it does a wonderful job of remastering one of the best PS2 games for modern audiences. If you’re interested in picking it up, the Tactical Edition is available for $68 at multiple online retailers (was $70). This is essentially the standard physical edition of the game, but it includes some extra DLC. PC players can also purchase the Steam version for just $52.38 (was $70) at Fanatical. Die-hard fans can also grab the $200 physical Collector’s Edition, which is still in stock at Amazon. It includes the base game, bonus DLC content, and a selection of collectibles like a diorama display of Snake sneaking through the forest, embroidered patches, and an exclusive metal case for the game.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Deals

If you started with The Phantom Pain or Delta and want to work through the earlier entries in the series, you’ll want to check out the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1.

This collection includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD, and the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD, plus the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and animated Metal Gear Solid graphic novels. The physical edition is available for $30 (was $60) on Switch, Xbox, and PS5, or you can grab it digitally on consoles and PC. The Steam version is available at Fanatical for $45 (was $60).

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1

It’s worth noting that while the Master Collection will get you most of the games in the series in a single package, it’s missing the rest of the mainline series–including Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain plus standalone prequel chapter Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes–not to mention the many Metal Gear spinoffs like Metal Gear: Survive and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Those entries will show up in an ostensible future Master Collection Volume–or even as additional remakes similar to Delta–but Konami has not announced any plans for those just yet.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience

Unfortunately, as it stands, it’s hard to play several of those entries; the PS3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 and PSP-exclusive Peace Walker are not currently available on modern consoles or PC. But as mentioned above, you can at least grab the latest game in the mainline series, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, plus Ground Zeroes and a bunch of DLC content through the Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience. You can grab it for $23 on PS4, or on PC via Fanatical. Note that if you’re jumping into MGSV without playing the others, you’ll be missing out on the rest of the story–but it is widely considered to have the best gameplay of the series, so it’s still worth grabbing if you’re looking for more tactical espionage action after wrapping up Delta or the Master Collection.

While the mainline series tells the winding–and sometimes incomprehensible–story of the legendary soldier Big Boss, his cloned son Solid Snake, and the shadowy organization known as the La Li Lu Le Lo The Patriots, the series has also seen several spinoffs over the years. Most of these are non-canon like Metal Gear: Survive–or semi-canon, as in the case of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops–others are considered part of the official Metal Gear timeline, such as 2013’s Metal Gear Rising Revengeance developed by Platinum Games. Rising set at the end of the series timeline, and players once again control Metal Gear Solid 2’s protagonist, Raiden, who has returned to his cyborg ninja form from Metal Gear Solid 4. Unlike the rest of the series, Rising is a character action game, rather than a stealth game, but it’s well-regarded by fans and easily available on PC. You can get the Steam version for just $23 (was $30) at Fanatical.

Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 official novelizations

For a different take on the Metal Gear Solid saga, you can check out the official novelizations for Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The books retell the events of the first two Metal Gear Solid games and were written by Raymond Benson, who has also authored several official James Bond novels.

It’s worth noting that Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima’s latest project, Death Stranding, also received an official, two-part novelization. While there are similarities in visual design language, detailed world-building techniques, and even gameplay elements between Death Stranding and Metal Gear, Death Stranding leans more heavily into overt sci-fi elements. Nevertheless, it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for more reading material based on Kojima’s works. Both volumes are available in paperback and Kindle editions at Amazon.

Speaking of which, Kojima also wrote a nonfiction book in 2021, titled The Creative Gene, which compiles his memoirs and essays on creativity, game design, art, and more. While it won’t answer lingering questions about Metal Gear lore, it offers insight into his creative process and details important events from his life. The paperback edition is available for $17.87 (was $23) at Amazon.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 is official, and it’s out next year with a bonus new spinoff game

by admin September 24, 2025

Following Sega’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios accidentally leaking the game’s existence last week, Yakuza Kiwami 3 has been officially announced by the developer during its RGG Summit presentation. Like Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 before it, Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a full remake of an early entry in the long-running series, in this case 2009’s Yakuza 3, which originally launched on the PlayStation 3.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 is another ground-up remake from RGG, featuring modern graphics, enhanced gameplay and new cutscenes. The game continues the adventures of the (at this point in the story) middle-aged Kazuma Kiryu, who temporarily puts his criminal career on hold to help run an orphanage that will become very important in later entries in the series. Yakuza Kiwami 3 is also bundled with a free spinoff game called Dark Ties, which focuses on Kiryu’s adversary, Yoshitaka Mine.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties will be released on February 12, 2026, for PS4 and PS5, Xbox and PC (Steam), as well as the Switch 2. Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are both coming to Switch 2 later this year, and RGG has also announced that Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut is coming to PS5, Xbox and PC on December 8. The expanded version of what many consider to be the best Yakuza game of all time has been a Switch 2 exclusive until now.

This week’s RGG Summit also gave us a brief update on the studio’s next game, Stranger Than Heaven, which we still know very little about, other than that it’s separate from the Like a Dragon and Judgement series and is set during multiple time periods in the 20th century. The game is still several years away from release, but a new behind the scenes trailer shows off snippets of in-game footage and motion capture sessions with actors.

At the time of writing, we’re still waiting for an announcement of the next Like a Dragon game, with the most recent entry being this year’s wonderfully titled Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

This Official 50-Pack of Pokemon Cards Sells for $0.10 Each, Amazon Is Liquidating Its Inventory

by admin September 24, 2025

Starting a Pokemon card collection can be exciting but also overwhelming when you’re figuring out where to begin. If you’re just getting into it, here’s a deal that’s hard to pass up: an assorted lot of 50 Pokemon cards for just $5, down from $9. That’s around 40% off the regular price, and $0.10 for each card. Now, you will not be opening up rare cards, and there could be duplicates that show up, but this is a wonderful way to start your collection under way without spending too much money.

How to Build Your Pokemon Collection with a Budget Boost

This mixed bag is a mix of standard Pokemon cards and energy cards from a variety of series with a surprise feature that makes it interesting. You never know what you are going to receive in each pack, so the excitement from not knowing which cards appear adds some zip to the action. Value is in terms of quantity and mix rather than rarity, so it is ideal for beginners wanting to establish a good foundation set or for backyard collectors who want cheap means of expanding their collection.

The randomness does have some dups but that’s just the bet for bulk purchasing at this price level. Silver lining is that dups can be used to make trades with buddies or strengthen your deck by having multiples of a specific card. Over time, this encourages more interaction with fellow gamers and collectors.

For $5 for 50 cards, this deal lowers the entry price for Pokemon players and collectors. It is a solid choice if you have been eager to start playing without spending a lot of money upfront.

Sure, you may not get the super-huge ones here, but the thrill is in unpacking the boxes, organizing cards, and discovering new favorites. And for serious players, these base cards provide the foundation for trades and deck enhancements.

Critical Role Releases Official Trailer for Campaign 4

by admin September 23, 2025

The new season of Critical Role is taking shape as they have released an official trailer for the highly anticipated next season:

Critical Role, a leader in storytelling and world building, today officially released the trailer for Campaign 4, the highly anticipated next chapter in its flagship series. Premiering Thursday, October 2, the new campaign will introduce a new world, a new cast featuring a rotating tables format, and, for the first time in Critical Role’s core campaign, a brand new Game Master. After three beloved campaigns set in the fantasy world of Exandria featuring the stories of Vox Machina (Campaign 1), The Mighty Nein (Campaign 2), and Bells Hells (Campaign 3), Critical Role is making a bold leap to an entirely new world called Aramán, marking a major evolution for the franchise. This campaign will also follow a stellar extended cast of players including Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham, Luis Carazo, Robbie Daymond, Aabria Iyengar, Whitney Moore, and Alexander Ward, with Brennan Lee Mulligan weaving this new saga as Game Master.Using the updated 2024 rules for Dungeons & Dragons, mixed with some homebrew elements from renowned creatives Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford, Campaign 4 sets the stage for a world on the brink. A hero to many, and enemy to some, when Thjazi Fang is marked for execution, various figures from across his remarkable life unite to uncover the truth behind his grim fate.

Against this backdrop, the cast will traverse the new world of Aramán in a West Marches-style approach to gameplay where the story unfolds through the perspectives of three distinct rotating tables: the valiant Soldiers, the vigorous Seekers, and the veiled Schemers. As their paths converge, we’ll dive deeper into Aramán, a world of wonder with sorcery stemming from the graveyard of the gods and carrying forward the spirit of epic sagas reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.

In a land still suffering from the fallout of dead gods and living in the shadow of a tumultuous rebellion, these disparate people will come together across the fractured world of Aramán and connect in ways they never imagined. As hope and victory fade, a question hangs over Aramán. Without the Gods, what great deeds now fall to us? And who, or what, shall grab their crown for themselves?

Campaign 4 will premiere with instant access on Beacon.tv as well as streamed to Critical Role’s YouTube and Twitch channels on October 2, with the VOD available for everyone the following Monday and podcast episodes available in two parts: the first one week after the premiere, and the second on the following Tuesday. Beacon members will also get exclusive access to all episodes of Critical Role Cooldown for Campaign 4, where the cameras keep rolling and you get a front row seat to the cast’s post-show reactions.

Football Manager 26 adds the women’s game for the first time, with official Barclays Women’s Super League inclusion

by admin September 18, 2025

Football Manager 26 will include the Barclays Women’s Super League and Super League 2, as women are added to the game for the first time.

The news is in addition to the Premier League being officially licensed in this iteration of the series. While this was previously announced for FM25, it was never implemented due to the game’s cancellation.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Barclays Women’s Super League and Women’s Super League 2 to the Football Manager family for FM26,” said Miles Jacobson, studio director of Sports Interactive.

Football Manager 26 | Introducing Women’s FootballWatch on YouTube

“Managers and figures within the league have been integral to the introduction of Women’s Football to our games, so it was only right that the leagues themselves were authentically represented too.

“I can’t wait to read and hear the stories from our players as they get to test their managerial skills in the WSL and WSL2 for the first time.”

Zarah Al-Kudcy, chief revenue officer of WSL Football added: “Bringing women’s football to the game for the first time is a major moment for visibility. This partnership is full of potential and, as an avid Football Manager fan myself, I can’t wait to get my tactics board out and compete for virtual silverware.”

A total of 24 teams will be included, across both leagues, which will be fully licensed with official player photos, club logos and kits.

Last month, Jacobson detailed to Eurogamer what went wrong with last year’s cancelled edition of Football Manager, discussing the challenges of changing to a new engine.

“Did we make the right decision? Yes,” he said. “Did we do everything correctly after making that right decision? No. Are there changes that I would have made to the decisions, if I had my time again? Yes. But I don’t lose sleep over those because you can’t manage them – and everything in life learns from the mistakes that they make.”

Football Manager 26 was officially revealed last month, and will release on 4th November across PC, PlayStation and Xbox (including Game Pass), as well as a separate mobile version for Netflix. A Switch version will follow on 4th December.

Is Borderlands 4 the new Crysis? Official GPU setting recommendations peg 4K performance with the RTX 5090 at 60 FPS, with DLSS and frame generation enabled

by admin September 16, 2025

Video game publisher 2K Games has released an extensive list of recommended graphics settings for Borderlands 4 across Nvidia and AMD GPUs at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. These presets are said to offer players a reliable baseline, something that many found missing right after the game’s launch last week.

The official requirements for Borderlands 4 highlight just how demanding the game is across GPU generations, and the results aren’t flattering by any means. If we look at Nvidia, the minimum requirements list the RTX 2070, which can barely scrape by at 1080p, managing just 30 FPS with DLSS upscaling, along with low settings for textures, shadows, and foliage. A smoother 60 FPS gaming experience at 1080p requires an RTX 3060 Ti. If you want to play the game smoothly at 1440p with 60 FPS, the RTX 3080 12GB is the minimum requirement, but not without DLSS and demanding texture features set to medium.

More settings have been listed by 2K Games for Nvidia GPUs and AMD GPUs.

You may like

On paper, the RTX 5090 stands out as the most powerful gaming graphics card available, and Borderlands 4 puts that muscle to good use. According to 2K’s recommendations, it’s the only GPU positioned to run Borderlands 4 at 4K (with DLSS and frame generation enabled) while pushing nearly every visual setting to the max. Notably, these recommendations only target a minimum of 60 FPS, which feels less than impressive for a flagship-grade GPU that costs upwards of $3,000.

On the other hand, the Radeon RX 5700 XT from AMD serves as an entry point for 1080p, although this can only be achieved using FSR and reduced settings for shadows and lighting to maintain frame rates at 60 FPS and above. As for mid-range GPUs like the RX 6700 XT and RX 7700 XT, they should be good enough at 1440p while maintaining much of the game’s visual quality. At the higher end, the RX 6950 XT and RX 7900 XTX push into 4K territory, but still rely on FSR in Balanced or Performance mode to deliver consistent performance.

AMD’s latest Radeon 9000 series is also part of the recommended list, with the latest RDNA 4 GPUs offering the best experience for Borderlands 4. The lineup benefits from FSR 4 and improved frame generation support, thus making the Radeon RX 9060 and 9060 XT suitable for 1440p, while the RX 9070 and 9070 XT are recommended to run the game at 4K / 60.

The release of these preset settings comes in the wake of Borderlands 4 drawing criticism for severe performance issues. Players have reportedly been running into all sorts of issues, ranging from low frame rates, stuttering, and crashes, even on top-tier graphics cards like the RTX 5090. While a 2.7GB day-one patch improved stability and fixed some crashes and errors, reports of inconsistent performance continue to surface. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford acknowledged the situation, noting that players with systems below spec or without SSDs would likely struggle.

The recommended settings also highlight just how demanding the game truly is. Even with Nvidia’s latest RTX 50-series and AMD’s Radeon 9000-series GPUs, players are expected to lean on upscaling and frame generation to achieve smooth performance at higher resolutions. That in itself speaks volumes about the game’s hardware demands, underlying optimization issues, or likely both.

The Stop Killing Games movement is nearing an official meeting with EU lawmakers

by admin September 14, 2025

The Stop Killing Games campaign is continuing to gain momentum after hitting more than a million signatures in July. After a July 31st deadline, the movement secured around 1.45 million signatures, which the organizers are currently in the process of verifying. The initiative aims to enact legislation that preserves access to video games, even when developers decide to end support, as seen with Ubisoft when it delisted The Crew and revoked access to players who already purchased the game. There were some early concerns about the potential for falsely-submitted signatures, but the latest update from organizers said that early reports show around 97 percent of the signatures are valid.

According to the European Commission’s website, EU authorities have three months to verify the signatures once they are submitted. After that, the organizers said they will personally deliver the petition to the European Commission. With initial estimates clearing the threshold of one million verified signatures, the following steps involve getting meetings with both the European Commission and the European Parliament.

From the date of the initiative’s submission, the European Union will get six months to decide what to do regarding the Stop Killing Games movement. There is the possibility of the governing bodies not taking any action at all, but the organizers said they are “preparing to ensure our initiative cannot be ignored.” To prepare for the meetings, the organizers said they will be reaching out to members of Parliament and the Commission, while also trying to counter any misinformation or industry lobbying. For now, the campaign will post more frequent updates on its Discord community and social media channels.
