No Man’s Sky Fan Rebuilds The Office

by admin September 6, 2025

The grounded, relatable setting of a certain paper distributor in Scranton, Pennsylvania might be the furthest thing one could imagine from the endless, procedurally generated galaxy of No Man’s Sky, but one virtual space explorer has put some serious digital elbow grease into recreating The Office’s iconic setting. It’s a delight to check out for fans of the show or for those who appreciate some solid base building in Hello Games’ massive space sim.

The replica’s creator, user Ok_Misterpiece_9363, showed it off on Reddit where it’s amassed more than 14,000 upvotes and tons of excited comments filled with Office memes from fans impressed by how faithfully the Scranton-based office space and warehouse has been reproduced.

What’s really neat about this office recreation is how much of the building and the experience of traveling through this space it captures. Having visited many Dunder Mifflin recreations in games like VRchat myself, I’m typically used to just seeing the main floor where most of the show’s action takes place. But this NMS version lets you walk in from the ground floor and, with a quick teleport jump, you can then explore the main office suite, the “annex” area, and even take a quick trip down to the warehouse.

Those who know the fictional office well might be able to spot a few omissions and quirks, however. Intern-turned-fraudster-turned-hipster Ryan is missing his closet office from the later seasons; the conference room leads directly to the warehouse (there’s a corridor behind it instead on the actual set of the show); and speaking of the warehouse, it doesn’t look much like what we’d seen in nine seasons of the celebrated comedy.

These deviations aside, this is an undeniably cute homage to a beloved comedy, filled with references to various memorable moments such as Pam and Jim’s rooftop date, the speedometer race scene from an episode in season five, and more.

If you want to visit galactic Dunder Mifflin yourself, Ok_Misterpiece_9363 has provided the coordinates here.

This HP Laptop with Office 365 Is Cheaper Than Buying Office Alone, Amazon Clears Out Stock for Labor Day

by admin August 28, 2025

It doesn’t often happen that Amazon’s best-sellers list puts a budget Windows laptop next to high-end MacBook Airs, but that’s what’s happening right now. There’s an HP 14-inch model (Intel Celeron N4020, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB Storage) that has quietly become a serious player on the platform as one of the best-selling laptops on the site, and the reason why is simple: it’s awfully cheap.

With the ongoing Labor Day sale, you can get it for $172 down from its usual $230. At that price, it’s one of the cheapest brand-new laptops you’ll find anywhere, and it’s less than some headphones or tablets. The deal becomes even harder to pass up when you factor in it also includes a one-year subscription to Microsoft 365 which alone usually costs $129 (per year). And since that comes bundled for free, you’re essentially paying close to the value of the software and getting a full-sized laptop in exchange.

See at Amazon

Why You Should Buy It

The screen itself is a 14-inch HD micro-edge bezel panel that boasts a slim design that doesn’t scream “budget.” It’s not too small for Netflix sessions or working on documents, and its size sits comfortably in the sweet spot between being travel-friendly and being productive. The laptop is also easy to carry around thanks to a thin build and light weight which is convenient if you’re going to class or a local coffee shop.

The machine runs on Intel’s Celeron N4020 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It’s not built for heavy creative projects or gaming, but that isn’t what this computer is meant for. Instead, it’s built to give you coverage for normal things such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email or Zoom meetings. The storage might feel tight compared to higher-end models, but remember—Microsoft 365 allows you to access OneDrive cloud storage which means you can keep your most important files online and free up space on the device.

Battery life is always something to watch out for with cheaper laptops, but HP has managed to keep it respectable here: You’ll have hours of use out of one charge, which should be sufficient to get you through a school day or long study session. Add in preinstalled Windows 11 Home, and you’re receiving the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system with periodic updates, all for the cheap price.

At $172, this HP laptop is precariously close to “why not?” territory.

Microsoft fires two employee protesters who occupied its president’s office

by admin August 28, 2025

Microsoft has fired two employees that were involved in a sit-in protest in vice chair and president Brad Smith’s office. Software engineers Riki Fameli and Anna Hattle were both dismissed today, after being part of a group of seven protesters that managed to get inside Smith’s office in Building 34 yesterday.

Microsoft was forced to temporarily lock down its executive building. The protesters live streamed themselves on Twitch entering Smith’s office, and demanded that the company cut ties with the Israeli government. Microsoft employees Anna Hattle and Riki Fameli were both arrested during the incident, alongside former Microsoft employees Vaniya Agrawal, Hossam Nasr, and Joe Lopez. A former Google employee and another tech worker were also arrested.

An unnamed Microsoft spokesperson told GeekWire that the two employees were terminated “following serious breaches of company policies and our code of conduct.” Microsoft refused to provide an attributable statement to The Verge.

Hours after the protesters were arrested, Brad Smith then held an emergency press conference in his office. Seated on the edge of his desk, Smith addressed a group of reporters and viewers on a YouTube live stream. Smith said that Microsoft is “committed to ensuring its human rights principles and contractual terms of service are upheld in the Middle East.” He said the company launched an investigation earlier this month after The Guardian reported that Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform was being used for surveillance of Palestinians.

Hattle was previously arrested during protests at Microsoft’s headquarters last week, where Redmond police arrested 20 people after a group took over a plaza at Microsoft’s headquarters to protest against the company’s contracts with Israel. Protestors at Microsoft’s campus set up a “Liberated Zone” encampment, and poured red paint over a Microsoft sign on campus.

The latest protests were organized by No Azure for Apartheid, a group of current and former Microsoft workers who are demanding that the company cut its ties with the Israeli government. The group has carried out a variety of protests in recent months, with the latest disruptions escalating to the homes and offices of Microsoft executives.

The New Office Show Keeps Making A Bad Early Impression

by admin August 28, 2025

I want to like The Paper, the upcoming Office spin-off premiering on Peacock next month, but it sure knows how to make a bad impression. The show’s first trailer was miraculously devoid of jokes, but I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and hope that its true brilliance would shine in sequences too long to come through clearly if shoved into a two-minute teaser. Well, we now have our first clip of the show, and unfortunately The Paper continues to come across like the work of people trying desperately to emulate The Office without understanding what made it work.

The scene Peacock put out today shows Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson), the new editor-in-chief for the Toledo Truth-Teller, trying to impress people on the newspaper’s office floor by looking like he and his staff are having a very enthusiastic meeting in one of the private rooms. Important people are watching, and Ned wants them to think that things are going swimmingly and that the team is energized and synergized. But instead of just actually having a meeting, he instructs his employees to pantomime a productive one so the suits outside will think he’s running a productive ship.

As unfunny as it is, it works. Good for him. I hope he can follow up that content meeting with actual content. But what is the joke here? The Office had absurd sequences that lasted long enough to be uncomfortable, but they were laced with one-liners, had pointed criticism of its office of assholes, or at least made you cringe from second-hand embarrassment. This whole charade doesn’t go anywhere. It’s just a couple of people being confused, most of the group playing along, and a suit being successfully hoodwinked. No punchline.

The Paper’s 10-episode season premieres next week on September 4, and I really hope that Peacock is just holding back the good stuff. I don’t need the spin-off to be exactly the same as the original, but it would be nice if it didn’t feel so sauceless.

Protestors occupy Microsoft president’s office as opposition to the company’s dealings with the Israeli military continue to escalate

by admin August 26, 2025

Less than a week after 18 protesters associated with activist group No Azure for Apartheid were arrested while protesting Microsoft’s dealings with the Israeli military, the group has staged a sit-in inside the office of Microsoft president Brad Smith. A report by The Verge says the building was subsequently locked down.

The protesters recorded at least two videos from inside Microsoft’s Building 34, including one showing what appears to be security attempting to remove them, and posted them to Twitch, but they were quickly deleted.

No Azure for Apartheid said protesters also deployed noisemakers attached to balloons prior to the sit-in, and posted notices reading, “The People’s Court Summons Bradford Lee Smith on Charges of Crimes Against Humanity.”

Two banners were also hung inside Building 34, one declaring it renamed to “Mai Ubeid Building” and another repeating No Azure for Apartheid’s demands:

  1. Cut Ties with Israel
  2. Call for an End to the Genocide and Forced Starvation
  3. Pay Reparations to the Palestinians
  4. End the Discrimination Against Workers

Current and former Microsoft workers are supporting the sit-in with a rally being held outside, during which copies of the document “We will not be cogs in the Israeli genocidal machine: a call for a Worker Intifada” were distributed. An 18-foot scroll displaying the signatures of more than 2,000 people who have signed No Azure for Apartheid’s online petition was also displayed.

The occupation of Smith’s office represents a significant escalation over previous protests, which began earlier this year with individual employees disrupting Microsoft’s 50th anniversary event and Build conference. Earlier this month, protesters set up an encampment in Microsoft’s East Campus Plaza, which was dispersed by police; the group returned the following day, and police subsequently arrested 18 protesters.

Microsoft has thus far refused to engage with the protesters but they seem to be having an impact, as pressure on the company to end its work with the Israeli government is growing. A group of Microsoft shareholders have demanded a report into the company’s “human rights due diligence” over allegations of war crime complicity in Gaza and some employees of Microsoft-owned studio Arkane Lyon have also called on the company to stop supporting the Israeli government. The BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanctions) movement has called for a boycott of Microsoft’s products due to its dealings with Israel.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

A recent report by The Guardian has alleged that Israel is using Microsoft’s cloud services for mass surveillance of Palestinians. Microsoft has said that it’s “pursuing a thorough and independent review of new allegations first reported earlier this month about the purported use of its Azure platform in Israel.”

We’ve reached out to Microsoft for comment and will update if we receive a reply.

This Lenovo Laptop (12GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Office 365) Is 85% Off, Amazon Clears Inventory for Summer’s End

by admin August 26, 2025

With Amazon’s Back to School discounts currently in full swing, there’s one notebook that looks almost too good to be true: the 2025 Lenovo IdeaPad 15.6″ with a solid mid-range spec (12GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Intel Celeron N4500, Office 365 for one year, Windows 11 Home) for a record low price. Amazon is likely clearing out old inventory, likely without making a single penny in profit, and that makes you the beneficiary of a deal that’s too great to pass up.

This computer usually costs around $2,400 but today Amazon reduced its price to as low as $349: That’s an 85% discount, and you’ll be saving around two thousand dollars on a brand-new computer. You’re spending less than most individuals spend on a smartphone at this price point, but you’re receiving a full Windows computer bundled with a one-year subscription of Microsoft Office 365.

Great Student Laptop

Specs do matter, even in a budget-friendly machine, and this Lenovo is far from stripped down: It’s powered by an Intel Celeron N4500 processor. Although it’s not for serious gaming, it’s perfectly suited to day-to-day productivity tasks such as word processing, spreadsheets and streaming television shows. The inclusion of 12GB of DDR4 RAM is a difference-maker: multitasking is so much more responsive than the 4GB or 8GB of memory you typically find in this price category.

A fast 512GB PCIe SSD gives you speed and space which means Windows boots in a flash, programs load in a flash and still having space for a large collection of school work, work documents, or entertainment media. In addition to the SSD, there’s also a secondary 128GB eMMC that gives you additional space to work with light files or backups.

The 15.6-inch HD display features anti-glare coating so your eyes don’t get as tired during extended study sessions. Paired with Dolby Audio dual speakers, you’ll enjoy more immersion when streaming or Zoom calls. You even receive a built-in HD 720p camera with a privacy shutter which is surprisingly rare on laptops in this price range.

Connectivity is also a plus point: USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, an SD card reader, and an audio combo jack are all present and give you all the ports you’ll need to have accessories and external storage easily attached. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are integrated within so wireless speed and dependability are on tap for both online classes and easy Netflix streaming.

Discounts this intense rarely stick, and since Amazon is clearly liquidating excess stock, make sure you don’t miss it.

Nothing Beats Our Editors’ Favorite Office Chair, and It’s on Sale Now

by admin August 21, 2025

Office chairs can be surprisingly expensive, easily breaking $1,000 for a seaworthy seat. The Branch Ergonomic Chair Pro, with a list price of just $500, beat out a number of expensive seats from some very recognizable chair makers to earn the top spot on our office chair roundup. For labor day, Branch is offering 10% off when you use code LABORDAY on the base price of the chair, as well as any accessories you might want to add on, plus free shipping, so you can build the ultimate home office.

Branch

Ergonomic Chair Pro

Unlike some other less expensive chairs, the Ergonomic Chair Pro features an absolute raft of adjustment options. Take the armrests, for example, which have vertical, forward and back, and angular adjustments, or the seat depth, which has both depth and tilt options, and of course there’s an adjustable lumbar support.

Branch doesn’t cut corners on materials, with a powder-coated aluminum base and casters that roll smoothly on hardwood floors. There are fabric, real leather, and vegan leather options in a variety of neutral or natural colors, another option typically reserved for chairs more than twice the price.

There are a variety of discounted accessories that might put some wind in your sails. Our editor thought the headrest was a bit unnecessary, but as a 6’4″ person, appreciated the tall cylinder to sit a little higher on the waves. Whichever route you choose to navigate, you’ll save a bit of cash, which is always great when you’re picking up an expensive new piece of furniture.

Ready to keelhaul your current bridge? Branch is offering an extra five percent, for a total 15% discount, if you also pick up a desk to go with your new chair. The Branch Four Leg Standing Desk is our editors’ favorite standing desk, with an elegant, understated design and a variety of options for its rounded plywood tops. Accessories for the desk are marked down as well, although I didn’t see anything particularly exciting or unique there.

The discounts on Branch’s chairs, desks, and accessories, as well as the additional bundle discount, are already live and run until September 5th. The website says to use the promo code LABORDAY, but I saw the discounts automatically displayed on items as I browsed the site. Just make sure you see the free shipping and discounted price when you check out.
