Moonlighter 2 delayed to November due to overstuffed October release schedule

by admin October 1, 2025

The early access release of Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault has been delayed by a month due to the amount of games being released in October.

Developer Digital Sun and publisher 11 Bit Studios had originally planned to release its RPG shop-sim adventure sequel on 23rd October, but now it’ll be out on 19th November.

October has “filled up with so many other great releases that we feel it has become too crowded for us” they wrote in a statement shared on Steam. “And as every wise shopkeeper knows, even the most precious gem can be overlooked in an overstuffed showcase.”

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault | Early Access Date Reveal TrailerWatch on YouTube

In the meantime, closed playtests will run soon on Steam and the Microsoft Store, with details expected soon.

October’s release schedule is certainly looking stacked. The 23rd, specifically, sees the release of Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, Once Upon a Katamari and Double Dragon Revive.

However, there are other big games due out the rest of the month, including:

  • Ghost of Yotei – 2nd October
  • Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 2nd October
  • Digimon Story: Time Stranger – 3rd October
  • Battlefield 6 – 10th October
  • Little Nightmares 3 – 10th October
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A – 16th October
  • Jurassic World Evolution 3 – 21st October
  • Ninja Gaiden 4 – 21st October
  • Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 – 21st October
  • The Outer Worlds 2 – 29th October
  • Arc Raiders – 30th October
  • Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake – 30th October

Still, even with the move, Moonlighter 2 will now compete with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on 14th November.

While it’s certainly a wise move to not have quite so much competition on release, it’s near impossible to find a quiet release date to stand out with so many games released these days.

Plenty of games shifted release date in the wake of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s surprise launch, but has this set a worrying precedent?

Silksong’s surprise release in particular was described as “a little callous” by Hell is Us creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, believing it impacted sales of the sci-fi adventure.

The early access release for Moonlighter 2 was announced back in August. The game is a follow-up to 2018’s Moonlighter, and sees a shift from top-down to 3D worlds.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault isn’t closing up shop, but it has received a small delay out of a busy October

by admin October 1, 2025

There just doesn’t seem to be a good time to release a game right now, does there? We all saw the way that Hollow Knight: Silksong scared away plenty of games, even games with completely different genres. And sometimes it’s just a case of a particular month being stacked – just this month alone there’s Ghost of Yotei, Battlefield 6, Pokemon Legends Z-A, Ninja Gaiden 4, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, Dispatch, Arc Raiders, the list truly goes on. So, I really can’t blame developer Digital Sun, who’ve announced that Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault has been delayed.

The developer shared word of said delay in a Steam news post earlier today, as the game was originally slated for release October 23rd, later this month. But, as they note, “the month has filled up with so many other great releases that we feel it has become too crowded for us. And as every wise shopkeeper knows, even the most precious gem can be overlooked in an overstuffed showcase.” So now, you can expect the game to launch on November 19th, a little more than a month later.

As a little bonus to make up for the delay, Digital Sun will also be running some closed playtests to let you try the game out, in particular to get a feel for some of the changes made based on community feedback. More details on that are coming soon, apparently.

Moonlighter 2 looks like it’s picking up where the original game left things off, gameplay wise at least, having now been transported to the realm of 3D. Based on an interview between the devs and TheGamer earlier this year, you can also expect it to fully lean into being a roguelike, which admittedly is a bit of an oversaturated genre right now. Fingers crossed the still fun concept of having to plunge into dungeons to stock your own shop is strong enough to find success this time around too!

The Films and Shows You Should Be Streaming in October 2025

by admin October 1, 2025

Time for some spooky streaming selections. For the past several years, our monthly column, the Nerd’s Watch, has been the place to find out all the best genre titles coming to the biggest streaming services. It wasn’t a complete list. We just posted the titles we think you’d care about, but it was still long, and frankly, it was hard to pick out the best of the best.

Well, over the past few months, that changed. What follows isn’t a list of all the best stuff streaming on all the big streaming services. We’ve looked at all those lists and come up with a few dozen titles that we think are noteworthy this month. Some are new, some are old, but either way, we’ll tell you why you should care. Or at least joke about it.

So sit back, grab your remote, and get ready for the updated and streamlined Nerd’s Watch, highlighting the best movies and shows coming to streamers this month.

The Goonies. Image: Warner Bros.

The Goonies (October 1 on Netflix)

There are about to be a lot of creepy films on this list to celebrate Halloween but if you want something a little lighter, a little more fun, but still great for the whole family, we suggest this 1980s classic.

The Mask (October 1 on Netflix)

Is this Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz comic book adaptation still as “smmmmmooooookinnnnn’” as it was in 1994? There’s only one way to find out.

The Martian (October 2 on Netflix)

Project Hail Mary may still be a few months away, but you can kill the time with this other Andy Weir adaptation, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon.

The Maze Runner series (October 9 on Netflix)

Before he went to the Planet of the Apes or Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda, director Wes Ball helmed this highly underrated YA trilogy starring Dylan O’Brien. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a mysterious and cool sci-fi series. There’s The Maze Runner, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and Maze Runner: Death Cure.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (October 17 on Netflix)

There have been many, many adaptations of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, both in theaters and on TV, but for our money, this one is by far the best. Just stellar on every level. Plus, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 are also coming to the streamer.

Cabin in the Woods. Image: Lionsgate

The Blade Trilogy (October 1 on Hulu)

Before he made a triumphant return in Deadpool and Wolverine, Wesley Snipes was one of Marvel’s first superheroes in this epic trilogy that includes Blade, Blade 2, and Blade: Trinity.

Edward Scissorhands (October 1 on Hulu, HBO Max, and Peacock)

I’m not quite sure why Tim Burton and Johnny Depp’s surreal romance is coming to so many streamers this month, but we aren’t mad at it. It’s perfectly unsettling for the season.

Seven Saw movies (October 1 on Hulu)

There are lots and lots of Saw movies but the first seven, released between 2004 and 2010, are all coming to Hulu. And honestly, they’re a perfect binge. Truly. That’s the best way to watch these gory, fun horror flicks.

The Scream Trilogy (October 1 on Hulu, Paramount Plus, and Peacock)

What’s your favorite scary movie? Is it Scream, Scream 2, or Scream 3? If so, you’re in luck, because all three are coming to multiple streamers this month.

The Cabin in the Woods (October 16 on Hulu and Peacock)

Chris Hemsworth co-stars in this mind-melting horror movie from writer Joss Whedon and director Drew Goddard. It’s so freaking good and yet, we feel, a little underrated. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Image: New Line

Star Wars: Visions – Volume 3 (October 29 on Disney+)

The incredible animated Star Wars anthology series returns, and this time, for the first time, it has sequels. What could be more Star Wars than that?

The Nightmare on Elm Street series (October 1 on HBO Max)

One, two, Freddy’s coming for you… on HBO Max. The streamer has a bunch of the original films coming this month. That includes A Nightmare on Elm Street, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child and Freddy vs. Jason. Sorry, Freddy’s Dead and New Nightmare fans.

Freaks (October 1 on HBO Max)

Before they blew your minds with Final Destination: Bloodlines, directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein made this excellent and surprising sci-fi film starring Emile Hirsch that is basically like lo-fi X-Men. Seek it out.

Several Friday the 13th films (October 1 on Various)

This is a little confusing, but Jason Voorhees is also streaming this month. Peacock is getting the first three films: Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th – Part II, and Friday the 13th – Part III, while Hulu is getting the very underrated 2009 reboot. All worth watching.

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (October 1 on HBO Max)

What is the perfect counter-programming to all this horror? This perfect faux-documentary from the director of Lilo & Stitch about the titular character, who tries to find his family. It’s hilarious, heartwarming, and amazing.

Demi Moore in The Substance. Image: Mubi

Poltergeist (October 1 on HBO Max and Peacock)

One of the biggest, most exciting, and scariest horror movies ever is this Tobe Hooper classic from 1982. A true staple of the genre.

The Exorcist (October 1 on HBO Max)

And speaking of staples of the genre, William Friedkin’s original Exorcist is on horror’s Mount Rushmore. So, if you want to watch a true all-time classic this Halloween season, look no further.

Bring Her Back (October 3 on HBO Max)

Those are classics, but what about some new blood? This 2025 release from the team behind Talk to Me (also streaming on HBO Max this month) is one of the most gut-wrenching, hard-to-watch, but oddly satisfying horror movies in a while. It’s about a woman who takes in foster kids for, let’s just say, not the best reasons.

The Substance (October 10 on HBO Max)

Horror movies don’t usually get nominated for Oscars, let alone win them. But horror movies aren’t usually The Substance, the incredible Demi Moore-Margaret Qualley film about an aging star who takes a dangerous substance to reinvigorate her youth.

V/H/S/Halloween (October 3 on Shudder)

Seen all the classics and franchises mentioned above? Well, you probably haven’t seen the latest installment in the VHS series because it hasn’t come out yet. It’s debuting on Shudder this month, and this time, it’s all Halloween-themed.

Shaun of the Dead. Image: Universal

Aliens Expanded (October 10 on Shudder)

If you love James Cameron’s Aliens, you will love this documentary that dives deep into its production, release, legacy, and so much more.

Scary Movie movies (October 1 on various)

With the Scary Movie spoof franchise coming back next year, this Halloween season might be the time to revisit some of the originals. The first one will be on Peacock on October 1, while Scary Movie 4 and Scary Movie V will be on Paramount+.

The Frighteners (October 1 on Peacock)

Peter Jackson’s criminally underrated horror comedy starring Michael J. Fox as a paranormal investigator is just about the perfect movie to revisit this spooky season.

How To Train Your Dragon (2025) (October 10 on Peacock)

One of this summer’s biggest hits, the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon, is finally coming to streaming on October 10. Plus, to get pumped for it, all three animated movies—How to Train Your Dragon, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World—will be on the streamer on October 1.

Shaun of the Dead (October 1 on Peacock)

The Cornetto Trilogy was born with this legendary romantic comedy horror movie co-written and directed by Edgar Wright, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Aim for the head.

Capcom will not “guarantee” Monster Hunter games can run on Windows 10 after October 14

by admin October 1, 2025

Capcom has warned it cannot “guarantee” its Monster Hunter games will run on Windows 10 from next month.

In a brief note thanking players for “enjoying Capcom products,” the Japanese firm said that from the day Microsoft ceases support for Windows 10, October 14, it will similarly ” no longer guarantee that Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Wilds will run on Windows 10 systems.”

“Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Wilds will still be possible to play on Windows 10 after October 14, 2025,” the company announced on Steam. “However, future system updates or game title updates may make the game incompatible on Windows 10 systems.

“Proper game functionality cannot be guaranteed on operating systems of which Microsoft has ended support,” it added. “If an issue running the game occurs, support can only be provided based on information from before support for Windows 10 was discontinued. Services for investigating problems regarding running the game on Windows 10 will be discontinued.”

Valve is also ceasing Steam support for systems running 32-bit versions of the Windows 10 operating system (OS) from January 1, 2026, but insisted that, according to results from its August 2025 Steam Hardware Survey, only 0.01% of users reported using the operating system.

Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto recently attributed the high price of the PlayStation 5 as a reason for low sales of Monster Hunter Wilds, which sold eight million copies in three days, making it the fastest-selling title in Capcom’s history.

How to play Wordle

Wordle’s a daily guessing game, where the goal is to correctly uncover today’s five letter word in six goes or less. An incorrect letter shows up as a grey box. A correct letter in the wrong space turns up yellow. And the correct letter in the right place shows up as green. There’s no time limit to worry about, and don’t forget that some letters might be used more than once.

What’s the best Wordle starting word?

Generally you want to pick something with a good mix of common consonants and vowels in it as your Wordle opener, as this is most likely to return some early green and yellow letters. Words like SLATE, CHIME, and REACT all work, but feel free to find your own favourite.

Is Wordle getting harder?

Wordle is not getting harder!

There will always be the occasional day where the answer is the name of a body part, has a sneaky double vowel, or a word obscure enough to send everyone rushing off to a dictionary. But the daily answers, edited by Tracy Bennett, are still a good mix of common terms and tougher challenges.

Remember that if you’re craving more of a challenge, you can enable Hard Mode under the ⚙️ options menu. This option doesn’t make the words themselves harder, but it requires that “any revealed hints must be used in subsequent guesses.”

How did Wordle begin?

Wordle is the creation of Josh Wardle, and began life as a small personal project before its public release in 2021. From there it’s gone on to become a global phenomenon, attracting a dedicated daily audience, billions of plays, a whole host of competitors, and even a seven-figure sale to the New York Times where it’s become a mainstay of daily games alongside the crosswords and Connections.

Team Fortress 2 Classic, the throwback version of Valve’s famed team-based shooter, is having an open beta on Steam in October

by admin September 30, 2025

Team Fortress 2 has come a long way in the nearly 20 years it’s been around, not entirely in ways that everyone would agree is better. For those who yearn for the days before hats (and bots) dominated the scene, the Team Fortress 2 Classic mod does just that.

Originally released in 2014, developer Eminoma announced plans for a Steam version earlier this year, enabled by the launch of the Team Fortress 2 SDK in February, and work seems to be coming along well: The team announced today that an open beta will get underway on October 13, alongside the start of the upcoming Steam Next Fest.

“We’re not sure if mods are normally at Next Fest, but the opportunity presented itself and we took it!” dev team member Nito wrote. “We have been working overtime for the past month to get ready for this, and I could not be more proud of the devs who have been toughing it out.”

Related articles

The open beta will include “every TF2C-exclusive weapon, gamemode, and map” (except Casbah), as well as new additions including damage feedback, balance changes, and “revamped” support for Four-Team, which adds Green and Yellow to the traditional TF2 mix of Red and Blue. The game will be playable on both official servers and “a number of community servers.”

TF2 Classic has been available for years, but the shift to Steam is significant. For one thing, it adds new features like Steam achievements, and more importantly it greatly simplifies the process of running it for people like me, who might be interested in some pre-hat TF2 action now and then, but not so much that we’re interested in dealing with the headache of setting it up.

We’re also good sources of new information for the developers, as Nito said developers quite often only get feedback from people who already know TF2 Classic: “The open beta is a great chance to cut through any sampling biases and get a good look at what newcomers think. If you love what you play of the open beta, please let us know! If you don’t, please let us know even more!”

The Team Fortress 2 Classic open beta is set to run for two weeks, until October 27. To take part, you’ll need to have Team Fortress 2 installed (it’s free, so no worries there)—otherwise, just download the mod from Steam when the open beta begins and you’re set to go.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Special offers also include free installation service, plus Samsung will haul away your old appliances and recycle them, while you get a $50 energy rebate. This futuristic fridge is basically also an iPad, with an AI Family Hub with the large screen and changeable door panels. Plus, there’s AI Vision inside, so you always know what’s inside (and what you need to buy at the store). And the Beverage Center has an internal dispenser or a built-in AutoFill Water Pitcher to get cold, crisp water whenever you want it, whichever way you want.

You can save an extra $170 with code SAVE169 at checkout, plus you’ll get $50 in Samsung Rewards (equal to 10,000 bonus points) with your purchase. And right now, you can get $1,000 off a Bespoke Smart Slide-In Electric Range. This range is straight from a The Jetsons fantasy, with an AI Home LCD display, which is pretty much a kitchen robot helper that gives you personalized recipe recommendations, the ability to search for and follow video recipes, and access your favorite apps so you can see who’s at your door through your video doorbell, and more. There’s also a Smart Oven Camera inside, meaning you can check on meals as they cook from anywhere and even share time-lapse videos to show off your skills.

Stay up to Date on all Things Samsung at WIRED

WIRED also has guides to help determine which Galaxy S24 phone is best for you and how to set up your Samsung Galaxy S25 to ensure you’re getting the most out of its features, as well as advice on which Galaxy S24 series accessories, like cases, chargers, and power banks, are worth the money.

Us nerds here at WIRED also follow CES (sort of the Coachella for tech nerds) for all the updates on tech (almost) no one asked for, and Samsung’s bi-annual Galaxy Unpacked event, where they show off its newest toys. We have a lot of opinions about Samsung’s foldable Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 phones. We are also patiently awaiting new releases of Galaxy Tab tablets, a new line of Galaxy Buds Pro 3 wireless earbuds, and a new series of the Galaxy Watch, with a new design and improved sensors for health

21Shares Updates Solana ETF Filing Ahead of SEC October Decisions

by admin September 29, 2025

21Shares, an ETF issuer, has filed an updated S-1 for its proposed Solana (SOL) ETF, providing fresh details on staking and in-kind redemptions

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is reviewing the filing, with decisions expected in October. The amendment explains how the fund would handle redemptions in kind and clarifies staking procedures.

Other issuers, including Franklin, Fidelity, CoinShares, Bitwise, Grayscale, VanEck, and Canary, have also submitted similar revisions in recent days as they actively respond to SEC feedback. Currently, about nine applications for Solana ETFs are pending with the SEC.

SEC Decisions in October Could Shake The Markets

Meanwhile, October is gaining significance as a month for the crypto sector. The Several applications, including ETFs related to Solana, XRP, Litecoin, as well as Cardano, are expected to be decided upon by the SEC. Deadlines for these filings are spread throughout the month, and the SEC recently removed all delay notices, leaving the door open for approvals.

Earlier this month, the SEC approved updated listing standards for crypto ETFs, which may have streamlined the approval process.

Under the new rules, a crypto ETF must be listed on a heavily monitored market, have a futures contract overseen by the CFTC for six months, or be linked to an existing ETF holding at least 40% of the cryptocurrency.

Capcom warn that Monster Hunter Rise, World and Wilds might not run on Windows 10 PCs after October 14th

by admin September 29, 2025

Your cuddly dinosaur aunties at Capcom have warned that they can’t “guarantee” various Monster Hunter games will run on Windows 10 PCs after uncle Microsoft end support for the operating system on October 14th this year.

When that fateful day comes to pass, Capcom “will no longer guarantee that Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Wilds will run on Windows 10 systems.” Which isn’t to say that these games will immediately become unplayable, but “future system updates or game title updates may make the game incompatible on Windows 10 systems”.

The developers add that if you have trouble with those Monster Hunter games on Windows 10 PCs after October 14th, “support can only be provided based on information from before support for Windows 10 was discontinued”, as they’ll be discontinuing services for investigating problems when playing on Windows 10.

If this is the first you’ve heard of Windows 10 being sunsetted/given the old heave-ho/left crying by the roadside, Microsoft have said that Windows 10 apps and drivers will continue to boot and run normally after the cessation of official support, but you won’t get any more free security updates, bug fixes and big feature updates.

It’s not quite as cut-and-dried as that in practice. Microsoft 365 apps running on personal and commercial Windows 10 PCs will get security updates until October 10th 2028, and feature updates until August 2026.

Microsoft are also offering a paid extended security update subscription for people who want to maintain Windows 10 beyond the cut-off date, with availability dependent on region and which version of the OS you’re running. In good news for people resident in the European Economic Area, Microsoft have bowed to pressure from consumer protection organisation Euroconsumers (via Particle Collider Gamer) by making ESU updates free in the EEA until October 2026.

Windows10mageddon threatens to leave a lot of PC users in the lurch, though there’s a certain amount of Y2K-style hysteria about the fallout. According to one study, around half of Windows PCs still don’t run Windows 11. If your machine doesn’t have the specs for Windows 11, it seems like you’ll need to buy a fresh one. I expect there will be plenty more bulletins from game publishers encouraging players to update their systems.

This article has been updated to mention Microsoft’s recent decision to make ESU updates free to people in the EEA until October 2026.

The Biggest Games Releasing in October 2025

by admin September 28, 2025

When it comes to game releases, the fall months have typically been a brutal gauntlet of big releases.

Despite the significant changes in the game industry, this remains true. This month features ninjas, science fiction, an 8-bit mouse, and more. There will be something for just about any gamer.

One of this month’s releases, Ninja Gaiden 4, is the fifth major ninja-centric game this year, and the third Ninja Gaiden game specifically.

So far, we’ve seen Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. Throw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown in there if you like, too. Incredibly, they’ve all been pretty fun, solid games.

And if you’re looking for more fresh picks, check out our list of September’s biggest game releases. But for a look at what’s ahead, keep reading for October’s top drops.

Ghost of Yōtei

Release Date: October 2, 2025
Platforms: PlayStation 5

Ghost of Tsushima was one of the stand-out releases on PlayStation 4, another remarkable Sony game release that showed why they’re so dominant in the console space.

Ghost of Yōtei is the follow-up to Tsushima, but don’t call it a sequel. This game is set 329 years after Tsushima, well after the Mongol empire, after the death of Tsushima protagonist Jin Sakai, and even after the death of Oda Nobunaga in 1582.

In this game, you’ll be exploring the area around Mount Yōtei as Atsu, who seeks revenge against the samurai Lord Saito and his generals, who killed her family and left her for dead.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2

Release Date: October 2, 2025

Platforms: Nintendo Switch (Enhanced for Switch 2)

Nintendo makes killer games, but struggles with game preservation, mainly due to their frequent changes in hardware form factors and storage formats.

A case in point is the Super Mario Galaxy games, which were released on the Nintendo Wii in 2007 and 2010.

Nintendo is giving the game a proper re-release on Nintendo Switch, with enhancements for Nintendo Switch 2. The game will allow you to choose between classic motion controls and a new control scheme that will play like a normal handheld.

There’s also an assist mode for gamers looking for an easier gameplay experience. If you’re playing on Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll be able to play this great-looking game at 4K.

While Nintendo isn’t asking for an upgrade fee for Switch 2 players, watch out–this release is $70 for an 18- and 15-year-old set of games, and they’re $40 each individually.

Battlefield 6

Release Date: October 10, 2025
Platforms: PC (Steam, EA App, Epic), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Gamers are hyped about a Battlefield game again.

Can EA meet their expectations? We’ll find out in just a couple of weeks. Aside from the success of Battlefield 1, many of the series’ launches have been plagued by issues.

This entry features a variety of new mechanics. Perhaps the most substantial of these is the latest ‘Kinesthetic Combat,’ which allows players to lean around cover, hitch a ride on vehicles, and drag comrades to safety to revive them.

Destructibility is still a feature, but you won’t be leveling skyscrapers. Instead, the destruction is more controlled to allow for things like eliminating cover, without also making the map frustrating to play on.

To give you an idea of how focused on performance DICE is this time around, Battlefield won’t get ray tracing at launch and perhaps ever.

Ray tracing can make games look great, but it won’t significantly improve performance for those seeking sharp visuals in a precision shooter like Battlefield.

Ninja Gaiden 4

Release Date: October 21, 2025
Platforms: PC (Steam & Xbox store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Ninja Gaiden 4 is a new mainline entry in the Ninja Gaiden series that began in 2004.

Series protagonist Ryu Hayabusa will play a significant role in the game, but you’ll be playing as a new character called Yakumo, who will act as the game’s lead.

This game is being developed by Team Ninja, as with their other games, but Platinum Games (known for Bayonetta and Vanquish) is contributing to enhance the game’s action sensibilities.

Dispatch

Release Date: October 22, 2025
Platforms: PC (Steam), PlayStation 5

Former Telltale developers formed a new studio, AdHoc Studio, and are back to work on another narrative-focused game.

Dispatch is a “superhero workplace comedy,” featuring dialogue trees that are typical of the genre. But as a superhero dispatcher, you’ll also be managing a map of crimes and events, deciding which heroes are the best fit for which events.

There’s also a hacking mini-game and some quicktime-style events. The cast is led by Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Bojack Horseman), Jeffrey Wright (The French Dispatch, The Batman), and Critical Role vets Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham.

The Outer Worlds 2

Release Date: October 29, 2025
Platforms: PC (Steam, Xbox store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S; Day-one on Xbox Game Pass

Hey Obsidian, can you chill for just a second? Microsoft has acquired dozens of studios (and closed too many), and Obsidian stands out as one of the very best.

While Bethesda is taking a decade in between game releases, Obsidian is on its third this year. The Outer Worlds 2 follows Avowed in February and Grounded 2’s early access release in July.

This game features more reactive dialogue and decisions compared to the original, as well as new traversal options and expanded character customization.

There are six companions to pick up throughout the story, and three factions to navigate. The Outer Worlds was an interesting but limited game, and we’re hoping Obsidian can nail it this time around.

At least this sequel isn’t releasing at the same time as The Outer Wilds again.

Mina the Hollower

Release Date: October 31, 2025
Platforms: PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch & Switch 2, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S

Shovel Knight was released in 2014 and became a massive hit for the then-new developer Yacht Club Games.

After years of supporting that game, they finally have a new title: Mina the Hollower. You’ll play as the titular Mina, a mouse and inventor who can burrow—or hollow–underground as she explores and fights enemies.

If this game is up to the standard set by Shovel Knight, this one should be another instant classic.
