Elden Ring Nightreign now has even tougher Nightlord bosses, and a new NPC to serve those who take on the challenge

by admin June 19, 2025

A little while ago, FromSoftware responded to the generally positive reception of Elden Ring Nightreign following the game’s launch, promising an official duos mode, as well as something the developer referred to as “enhanced fights against existing Nightlords.”

Duo Expeditions have yet to arrive, but we now know exactly what these enhanced Nightlord fights are, because the first one has arrived suddenly in the game.

It is particularly amusing to log off for the day after reporting on the latest Nightreign patch – which was mainly an incremental update – only for the real news to drop hours afterwards, and without even an official announcement to accompany it.

Late yesterday, players discovered that the first enhanced boss has arrived. In a blog post, FromSoft later explained that these are called Everdark Sovereigns, and they’re meant to be much more challenging versions of each Nightlord.

A new Everdark Sovereign will rotate each week, but only those who defeated the original version of that Nightlord can take it on. A Sovereign of Gaping Jaws (Adel) is currently live in the game, to be replaced with Sentient Pest next week, and Darkdrift Knight the week after.

The developer is working on Sovereign versions of other Nightlords – Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast and Fissure in the Fog, which will arrive in due course. As for Sovereign Gaping Jaws (Adel), it will be available until Thursday, June 25.

That’s not all, there’s now also a new NPC that serves a couple of key functions. Defeating Sovereign Nightlords will reward you with Sovereign Sigils, which said NPC will take in exchange for special Relics and other useful items. You even get bonus Sovereign Sigils the first time you beat each boss.

That NPC also lets you change Nightreign’s Shifting Earth / Map Events on demand. This requires Sovereign Sigils, too, but it saves you from having to defeat three Nightlords to trigger the next event

There’s likely more that players will discover as they spend a bit more time fighting these ultra-challenging versions of the game’s Nightlords. If you still haven’t beaten them all, we recently put together a weaknesses guide for all of Nightreign’s Nightlords because it really helps to go in prepared.

For all your other questions, a quick glance at our Elden Ring Nightreign guide will always set you on the right path.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s first enhanced boss just dropped out of nowhere, and there’s an extremely useful new NPC too

by admin June 19, 2025

Well, that was unexpected: Elden Ring Nightreign players just discovered the first of the new “enhanced bosses” FromSoftware said were coming this month. Defeating it rewards you with a new currency you can spend on a bunch of extremely useful stuff at a new NPC.

With the shadow-dropped update so fresh, it’s not clear how you unlock the new “Everdark Sovereign” version of Gaping Maw, but I’d assume you need to at least fight and defeat his normal version first.

I couldn’t put a team together in time to go and fight the Everdark Sovereign Gaping Maw boss, but streamer Oroboro was able to take him out alone. It looks like the lightning dragon starts in his second phase and causes a tornado to appear in the arena that you have to avoid.

Surviving the encounter will reward you with a new currency separate from Murk called Sovereign Sigils. You can go spend these at a new NPC in the Roundtable Hold who sells powerful new relics for each character as well as all the skins in the game for what is a relatively cheaper price than what they cost in Murk.

But here’s where it gets even better: This new NPC also lets you pay a small sigil fee to be able to start up any of the Shifting Earth events. Previously, you had to defeat three Nightlords for these things to show up randomly, but now you have direct control over them.

The NPC also lets you pay to receive the alternative version of a relic reward from the Guardian’s remembrance quests and to turn the lights (Site of Grace) back on in the Roundtable Hold’s expedition room to brighten things back up.

FromSoftware has said absolutely nothing about the update, so it’s unclear when we’ll see the other new bosses. We’ll just have to keep an eye on the list to see if it updates over the next few days.

Someone found Skyrim’s most relatable NPC: A dude with no possessions who just sleeps all day, every day

by admin May 28, 2025

A Skyrim player has discovered what some are calling the most boring NPC in the game, but some might call him a hero. YouTuber Mike, who also goes by The Gaming Dad, happened across the character at the East Empire Company Warehouse in Solitude.

Unlike some other NPCs, this one is named: Snorreid. He can be found in the interior of the warehouse sleeping on a bedroll in the corner, and if spoken to has a single line of dialogue: “You’re not supposed to be in here.”

Rather brilliantly, Snorreid delivers his line without getting up from his bedroll, or apparently even waking (the vast majority of Skyrim NPCs will stand up to converse). It turns out this is par for the course for Snorreid who, as some sort of Nord god of quiet quitting, just sleeps at all times of the day. He never gets up, never goes for a walk, never does anything. And presumably the East Empire Company is still paying his wages.

There is one exception to the rule, which is that initiating combat with Snorreid will make the character get out of bed. I guess that only getting up when your life’s in peril is allowed.

Who or what is Snorreid? Answer there is none, though there are hints he may have once had a more involved role in one of the game’s quests: Snorreid’s beloved bedroll is placed close to a room that holds a quest objective, the East Empire Shipping Map. And curiously enough, within the Creation kit he’s listed as a Solitude NPC and not a member of the East Empire Company faction.

But the reality is that this guy is winning at life. While the Dragonborn runs around yelling and getting themselves in scrapes, Snorreid just takes a load off. The vibe is very much “I’m #1 so why try harder”, and I just can’t bring myself to align with those who consider him boring: This is my retirement goal.

Some on YouTube are rather more brutal about our boy. “Snorreid is an in-game tribute to Bethesda’s bug fixing team,” says BuxyCat in the comments. Meow!

All the recent attention’s been on Oblivion: Remastered, but in a way that’s just had me jonesing for another Skyrim fix. I’ve spent a lot of time in this game and have no recollection of Snorreid whatsoever, even though I’ve definitely been near his location: that old sleeping technique is some next-level stealth.

It’s one of those games where there’s always something new to discover: unless you’re a fanatic who sets out to do “everything that can be done”, nabbing every item and perk and hitting level 1,337. Fact is, and Starfield really drove this home, Skyrim is just a brilliant game.
