Everything We Saw At The September 2025 Nintendo Direct

by admin September 13, 2025

Today, Nintendo treated us to a lovely September Direct, kicking things off with a focus on the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. Where does the time go? Naturally, we saw some Mario games expected to arrive on our Switch 2s and got our first glimpse of next year’s big-screen outing for the Bros. But there was also so, so much more.

If you weren’t up at the crack of dawn to watch it yourself, allow us to give you the rundown. Let’s get to it.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Oh hey, there’s a new Mario movie on the way. We got the briefest of looks today at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. There wasn’t a whole lot shown or revealed besides the title and a quick camera sweep through the colorful world of Mario and the announcement that several cast members would be returning including, ugh, Chris Pratt.

Super Mario Galaxy & Galaxy 2 Arrive On Switch

If you were hungry for some Wii-era nostalgia, or just missed out on the Galaxy games of the era, Nintendo has good news you for you as it showed off the return of these two beloved titles and some new amiibos based on these adventures.

Super Mario Galaxy & Galaxy 2 land on Switch on October 2.

Mario Tennis Fever

Mario and tennis go back a long way, and some of his outings on the court have been pretty great. Today we got a look at Mario Tennis Fever which includes not just a Mario-ified tennis experience as you might expect, but also an adventure mode that tasks the cast with surviving a tennis-themed adventure as babies.

Mario Tennis Fever arrives on Switch 2 on February 12, 2026.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch 2 Edition

Wonder‘s wonderfully surreal experience is coming to Switch 2 via a new edition. There’s a ton of new content coming to this version as well when it arrives next year. And Nintendo has produced some physical talking flowers which, um, will spontaneously talk on their own. Fascinating.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch 2 edition arrives in Spring 2026.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

Can Yoshi read? Turns out he can! In Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Yoshi’s gonna have to piece together the mysteries of a strange book that’s arrived. But what’s particularly cool about this game, aside from its interesting environmental puzzles, is its quasi-stop-motion-animation style that looks really nice.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book arrives on Switch 2 in Spring 2026.

Storm Lancers

Played solo or in couch co-op, this side-scrolling platformer is coming to the original Switch.

Storm Lancers arrives on the original Switch today.

Dinkum

Oh hey! It’s a survival sim! You know the drill, gather stuff, watch out for—holy shit—sharks! Okay, I’m actually really into the blocky animal designs here. I think I’ll spend more time with them than the actual people.

Dinkum launches on the original Switch on November 5, 2025.

Popucom

This multiplayer-only, colorful third-person shooter puzzler looks like a neat time with friends. Hopefully you have friends?

Popucom arrives on the original Switch this holiday season.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

This weird thing. I don’t say that disparagingly. Today’s Direct showed off Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream‘s character creation and the various activities you can engage in across the island. These voices will end up in your Lynchian nightmares.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream launches in Spring 2026 for the original Switch.

Nintendo Today app

Nintendo’s exclusive Nintendo news app is getting a Kirby theme. Try not to get too hungry for that.

Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics

Friggin’ Virtual Boy. You know you wanted it! Yes, Nintendo has built a new headset for you to insert your original Switch or Switch 2 into and blast your eyeballs with the eternal sea of red. There’s also one made of cardboard on the way.

Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics arrives on Switch/Switch 2 on February 17, 2026.

Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly Remake

A creepy village that disappeared? The threat of sanity leaving you behind? Hell yeah. If your Switch experience has been sorely lacking some horror, keep this one on your radar.

Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly Remake arrives on Switch 2 early 2026.

Partner Showcase 2

PowerWash Simulator 2

This game is unreasonably satisfying, and now it features “enhanced soap”? Hell yeah. This version also features four-player online co-op and two-player couch co-op.

PowerWash Simulator 2 arrives on Switch 2 in Fall 2025.

Suika Game Planet

This one’s hard to describe, so really just watch the video. But if you can’t, this looks like a satisfying puzzle game tasking you with merging fruit together. Seems like a nice way to kill some time.

Suika Game Planet arrives on Switch/Switch 2 in Winter 2025.

Metroid Prime 4

Our girl’s got a cool bike and a pretty-looking open world of sand dunes to zip around in. Will I finally break down and buy a Switch 2 for this? Maybe. I might also need that Samus bike amiibo.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond arrives on Switch/Switch 2 on December 4, 2025.

Donkey Kong Bananza DLC

If you didn’t get enough of your aggression out smashing up everything in sight in Bananza, lucky you: There’s DLC arriving today for our big ape pal and his buddy Pauline.

Donkey Kong Bananza DK Island & Emerald Rush arrives as paid DLC for Switch 2 today.

Pokémon Pokopia

Hey, this Pokémon game looks pretty darn different from the series’ usual shenanigans. In Pokémon Pokopia, you’ll play as a Ditto disguised as a human and, hopefully, build a paradise for the poor little critters that those darn “trainers” keep abducting to force into battle. See? They don’t need human owners.

Pokémon Pokopia arrives on Switch 2 in 2026.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Don’t worry, if you need to exert your will over creatures we can clearly see are capable of independent, sovereign existence, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is on the way for you to get your battles on.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A arrives on Switch/Switch 2 on October 16, 2025.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension

Not yet, Pikachu, it’s not over yet for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Try as I might to be snarky about this series, Pikachu is just too darn cute and awesome to not be tempted by this rad-looking DLC that’s taking evolution to a new level.

A release date for this DLC was not provided.

Danganronpa 2×2: Goodbye Despair

Waking up on a beach with a cute boy asking me if I’m okay? Hell yeah. I haven’t played this game before, but maybe you have, as it’s a rerelease of Danganronpa 2. This version also includes an extra story that hasn’t been seen before.

Danganronpa 2×2 arrives on Switch/Switch 2 in 2026.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Switch 2 release and DLC

The thrill of fighting seemingly countless foes in epic battles is yours to carry around on Switch 2 soon. There’s also some new paid DLC on the way.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins and its new DLC arrives on Switch 2 January 22, 2026.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection

Hunt your monsters and save the world from ecological collapse. Those two things can’t be possibly related, can they?

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection arrives on Switch 2 on March 13, 2026.

Partner Showcase 3

  • Two Point Museum, arriving on Switch 2 on October 28, 2025

  • Little Nightmares III, arriving on Switch/Switch 2 on October 10, 2025
  • Persona 3 Reload, arriving on Switch 2 on October 23, 2025

Resident Evil Requiem

Creepy abandoned hallways, an ominous phone call, and one brave-ass girl needing to survive the unsurviveable. Today we got official confirmation that the upcoming, and very good-looking, Resident Evil Requiem is coming to Switch 2. This may not be my platform of choice for the latest in Capcom’s legendary horror series, but I cannot wait for this game. Resident Evil 7 and 8 are also headed to Nintendo’s hybrid console.

Resident Evil Requiem arrives on Switch 2 on February 27, 2026, the same day as RE7 and RE8.

Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave

Today’s Direct closed out the show with Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave. Tactical combat, lovely character design, bitter stories of revenge, and some gorgeous environments combine for what looks like a game very much worth keeping an eye on.

Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave arrives in 2026.

And that wraps everything we saw! What games are you looking forward to the most?

Nintendo Direct Switch 2 Preorders At Amazon – All New Games & Amiibo You Can Reserve Now

by admin September 13, 2025

This week’s hour-long Nintendo Direct was filled with exciting announcements, including brand-new reveals like Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 and long-awaited release date confirmations such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. We now know that Nintendo has six big game launches in a two-month span starting with the Mario Galaxy collection on October 2 and ending with Metroid Prime 4 December 4. In between, we’re getting Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and Kirby Air Riders–plus a wide assortment of third-party titles like timed-exclusive Hades II, which is published by Nintendo.

Nintendo Direct Preorders:

Nintendo also revealed seven new Amiibo figures: three for Metroid Prime 4, two for Kirby Air Riders, and two for Super Mario Galaxy. Metroid and Mario also have upcoming books releasing this fall: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective and Rosalina’s Storybook.

We’ve rounded up all of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 (and original Switch) games and accessories from the Nintendo Direct that you can preorder now at Amazon. This roundup also includes Nintendo-published games and first-party accessories for Switch 2 that are already available. If you don’t own Nintendo’s new console, Amazon opened preorders for the Switch 2 Pokemon Legends: Z-A Bundle on September 12. It’s the first time you can simply buy the console from Amazon without an extra step. To purchase the Mario Kart World Bundle and standalone console from Amazon, you need to request an invite.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch exclusives

Mario Kart World’s $80 price led many Nintendo fans to believe this would be a common price point for Switch 2 exclusives. It turns out that’s not the case–at least not yet. Metroid Prime 4, Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Air Riders, and all of the other Switch 2 games in Nintendo’s popular franchises are $70. Original Switch editions of Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are $60. The outlier here is Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2. The lone physical edition is an original Switch game that’s priced at $70. The collection has a free upgrade pack for Switch 2.

Note: A couple of the games in the list below aren’t exclusive to Switch 1/2–Dragon Quest VII Reimagined and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade–but they were part of the September Nintendo Direct. Hades II is a timed console exclusive published by Nintendo, but it will also be available on PC at launch.

Nintendo Switch 2 Amiibo preorders

Metroid Prime 4’s trio of Amiibo figures have two release dates and price points. The large Samus & Vi-O-La motorcycle figure is $40 and launches alongside the new $30 Samus Aran Amiibo on November 6. An Amiibo version of Sylux hits store shelves the same day as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The two Kirby Air Riders Amiibo are $50 each, which makes them the priciest Amiibo figures yet. It’s not very surprising, though, as the Warp Star and and Winged Star Machines shown above are separate figures, so these are more like double packs. Super Mario Galaxy fans will have to wait until April 2026 to add the new Mario and Rosalina Amiibo figures to their collections. Each figure is $40, though the character stands are more elaborate than we typically see with Amiibo.

The seven new Amiibo join an existing lineup of eight Zelda, Street Fighter, and Donkey Kong Switch 2 Amiibo figures. Amazon and other major retailers are offering discounts on most of the Amiibo figures that launched alongside the Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 first-party accessories

Nintendo raised the prices of select first-party accessories at the beginning of August. Not all of the official Switch 2 accessories were impacted, but the Pro Controller and Joy-Con 2 each increased by five bucks. The list below also includes a couple of the most popular officially licensed third-party accessories like Samsung’s 256GB microSD Express Card and Hori’s Piranha Plant Camera, which looks cool but isn’t a good piece of tech.

Resident Evil Requiem – and not just a cloud version – is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, along with other RE Engine Resi games

by admin September 13, 2025

At today’s Nintendo Direct, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem are coming to Nintendo Switch 2. And no, they’re not like the janky cloud version of Resi 7 that launched in Japan back in 2018, but a full-fat, Switch 2-native version. Nice.

A trailer for the title(s), running on Switch 2 hardware, was shown off during today’s presentation. It shows Requiem running on Switch 2, and demonstrates what the experience as Grace Ashcroft will feel like in your hands – when playing in either first- or third-person mode. Nerve-wracking, I’m sure. Though, this isn’t the first time Capcom has tried to get the games working on non-home consoles/PCs: there was a doomed mobile release of Resident Evil 7 that managed less than 2000 sales. Ouch.

Resident Evil 7 launched back in January 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It returned to the series’ horror roots after a number of games in the action genre, and kickstarted the ‘new’ era of Resident Evil games, all made on the RE Engine, that includes Resident Evil 2 Remake 2, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Resident Evil Village, and the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem.

Per today’s Direct, Resident Evil Biohazard and Residen Evil Village are coming to Switch 2 on February 27, the same day Resident Evil Requiem launches. It’ll hit the Nintendo hardware the same day as it will PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

It’s a good time to be a Resi fan: 22nd March 2026 marks the series’ 30th anniversary, and it looks like we’ll have plenty to celebrate in the run up to that date with older games becoming available on newer hardware, and new titles, to boot. If you want an idea of the complicated chronology of the Resident Evil franchise, you can check out our guide on how to play the games in chronological order, and we’re getting a reboot of the films, too.

Nintendo reveals new Fire Emblem game coming to Switch 2

by admin September 13, 2025

A new Fire Emblem game has been revealed at today’s Nintendo Direct.

Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave, as it’s known, will be released in 2026.

It’s the latest in the tactical RPG series, check out a gameplay trailer below.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave – Nintendo Direct 9.12.2025Watch on YouTube

Judging by the reveal, it’ll feature plenty of cinematic anime scenes, as well as the tile-based battles the series is known for. Story-wise, it appears to revolve around some form of Colosseum setup.

Fire Emblem Three Houses was a huge success for Nintendo on Switch that brought the series to new heights of popularity. It was followed by Fire Emblem Engage that was less well-received.

Let’s hope Fortune’s Weave is a significant step on for the series.

Nintendo Drops Surprise Trailer for New ‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’

by admin September 12, 2025

Mario is returning to the big screen. Following the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which made more than $1.3 billion worldwide in 2023, animation studio Illumination and Nintendo are releasing a sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, in April 2026. Nintendo dropped a teaser trailer during its Direct presentation on Friday.

The teaser doesn’t offer much about the movie, which takes its name from the 2007 platformer. Mario dozes in a field before title credits appear, that’s about it. But the trailer still signifies that Nintendo will continue to churn out films aimed at turning Mario into a megafranchise.

It’s no coincidence that the trailer and accompanying announcement come just one day before the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. video game. In the four decades since that game’s release, Mario—and Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, and other assorted characters—have become cultural icons.

In 1993, Super Mario Bros. became one of the earliest videogame film adaptations. It was panned by critics and fans, but in the years since, games ranging from Mortal Kombat to Tomb Raider have been turned into movies. Now, as superhero fatigue sets in and ’90s nostalgia peaks, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which will include nods to the entire Mario series, stands poised to continue Mario’s domination.

Considered the most successful video game adaptation ever made, The Super Mario Bros. Movie was the second highest-grossing movie of 2023, second only to Barbie. The original cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Jack Black as Bowser, will return for the sequel.

Alongside the news, Nintendo also announced it will release remastered versions of Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel on October 2.

‘Hades II’ Is Coming to Nintendo Switch This Month

by admin September 12, 2025

Nintendo’s Switch and Switch 2 release calendars are bulking up. During a packed Nintendo Direct livestream on Friday, the company announced on-sale dates for several games as well as the return of the Virtual Boy, the proto VR headset Nintendo originally launched in the mid-1990s.

One of the biggest of Friday’s announcements was that of the release date for the sequel to Supergiant’s wildly popular Hades. Hades II will hit Switch, Switch 2, and PC on September 25. The long-awaited new Metroid game, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, will also finally launch December 4 for Switch and Switch 2.

The news comes ahead of the upcoming holiday season, which will be the Switch 2’s first since its launch this summer.

While Hades II has been available on PC as an early access game—an unfinished version players can test out and give feedback on—since last year, the version coming to Switch at the end of the month will be the full “1.0” launch game. Players who already own the game on Steam will be able to update theirs for free. The game stars Melinoë, sister to the original game’s hero Zagreus, on her quest to kill the Titan of Time, Chronos.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond sees the return of Samus running and gunning against alien foes. Along with a firm release date, the trailer shown Friday debuted a new tool for the heroine: Vi-O-La, a techy motorbike Samus can use alongside her psychic abilities.

Nintendo is also expanding some of its games with downloadable content. New DLC for Donkey Kong Banaza, which launched July 17, is now available for $20. The pack, called DK Island & Emerald Rush, adds extra missions and levels to explore (and presumably punch). Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is launching October 16, will do so alongside a Mega Dimension DLC that adds additional Mega Evolutions.

Nintendo also teased several 2026 releases, including a surprise announcement for a new Pokémon game, Pokémon Pokopia. As a human-shaped Ditto (as horrifying as that sounds), players befriend other pokémon, build homes, and collect food to create a tiny paradise. It launches for Switch 2 next year.

Additionally, a new entry in the turn-based tactical series Fire Emblem, called Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, is headed to Switch 2 in 2026. A trailer shown today teases its heroes in an arena-style battle; a familiar face at the end of the trailer suggests the game is set after 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses. A new Resident Evil game, Resident Evil Requiem, will also be released for Switch 2 on February 27.

all the biggest announcements from today’s Nintendo Direct

by admin September 12, 2025

Whenever there’s a Nintendo Direct in September, you can be pretty sure that it’ll be a major edition of the showcase. Given that Friday’s one was scheduled to be about an hour long and that Nintendo has a whole new console to put games on, it was already likely that there was going to be a lot of news.

Even then, it managed to be a jam-packed Direct. Let’s take a look at all the biggest announcements from the showcase, including what’s obviously the most important one: a Switch 2 version of Overcooked 2.

Mario’s 40th anniversary

September 13 is the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. in Japan, which is a big reason why this Direct took place on a Friday (a highly unusual day for Nintendo to hold one of its showcases). Following news of Mario-related updates for the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, the company revealed the title for the next Mario movie. It’s called The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it’s coming to cinemas in the US on April 3. We’ll have to wait a little longer for a trailer, though.

There was no announcement of an upcoming 3D Mario game today, unfortunately, but there was still plenty of other news. Mario Tennis Fever is coming to Switch 2 in February as the first new Mario Tennis game since 2018. Yoshi’s getting another adventure of his own with the Switch 2 platformer Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which is set to arrive next spring. A Switch 2 version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder with fresh multiplayer modes will drop around that time too.

Before all of that, though, Nintendo is bringing the wonderful Wii games Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 to Switch on October 2. They’ll be available separately or as a bundle on the eShop and as a combined edition on a $70 physical cartridge. On Switch 2, you’ll be able to play these two classics in 4K.

Two Mario Galaxy Amiibo figures are coming in April as well. Even though I’m not typically an Amiibo collector, I really want those because Luma is just adorable. In addition, Nintendo plans to release a physical collectible of the Talking Flower from Super Mario Bros. Wonder next spring.

Donkey Kong Bananza DLC out today

If you’ve already smashed everything to smithereens in Donkey Kong Bananza and have been yearning for more to do in one of the biggest Switch 2 exclusives to date, you’re in luck. Nintendo revealed a paid expansion for the platformer during the Direct. It’s called DK Island & Emerald Rush and it’s out today for $20.

You’ll be able to barrel around Donkey Kong’s home island and meet up with some familiar faces. After you’ve beaten the story in the main game, you’ll be able to try the Emerald Rush mode. This will see you undertaking timed runs in DK Island and the main game’s layers to collect emerald ore, smash fossils and collect Banandium Gems.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has released a demo for the main game. So, if you have a Switch 2 and haven’t played Donkey Kong Bananza yet, you’ll be able to find out for yourself why the other cool kids are saying “ooh, banana!” all the time.

Pokémon Pokopia

Quite a few people were expecting/hoping for news of a new Animal Crossing during the Nintendo Direct. While that didn’t happen, Nintendo had arguably something even more exciting to announce — especially if you’re both an Animal Crossing and Pokémon fan.

Pokémon Pokopia is the first Pokémon life simulation game. You’ll play as a Ditto who has been transformed to look like a human and turn empty land into a cozy paradise for both yourself and Pokémon. Ditto can learn abilities from Pokémon, such as using Squirtle’s Water Gun to give life to flora.

It looks utterly lovely. Pokémon Pokopia is coming to Switch 2 in 2026.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Nintendo used this Direct to seriously start filling out its Switch 2 slate for 2026. One of the games it’s publishing for the system next year is a new entry in the Fire Emblem series. It announced Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave during the showcase.

As ever, this will be a turn-based tactical RPG. The debut trailer touched on the story and characters in the upcoming game.

Metroid Prime 4 and Hades 2 release dates

We had a feeling these were coming soon, but release dates for both Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Hades 2 were both major announcements during the Direct. Samus has a rad, Tron-esque bike in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which will arrive on Switch and Switch 2 on December 4.

Hades 2, meanwhile, will arrive on Switch and Switch 2 on September 25. The full game will be available on Steam and Epic Games Store on the same day as it will exit early access on PC. There were be cross-save support across PC and Switch/Switch 2. The Switch 2 version will support 120fps gameplay when the console is docked. That Hades 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong are dropping in the same month is pretty wild. Apologies to any designs you had on getting some sleep in September.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment release date

Nintendo announced Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment during a dedicated launch direct for Switch 2 back in April, and now there’s a release date for this hack and slash game. It’s coming to the console on November 6.

Age of Imprisonment, which was developed by Koei Tecmo’s AAA Games Studio, sees Princess Zelda traveling back in time and meeting Rauro and Sonia, the first king and queen of Hyrule. You’ll try to take down Ganondorf (yes, again) in what’s known as the Imprisoning War. Zonai devices will be at your disposal. According to the trailer, you’ll “uncover ancient truths that were only glimpsed in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”

There’s two-player co-op support via split-screen and GameShare. Zelda, Rauru and Sonia are among the playable characters, and you’ll be able to swap between them. You can also play as a Korok for a change instead of torturing the poor creatures, you monsters.

AAA third-party games coming to Switch 2

Nintendo confirmed during the Direct that Resident Evil Requiem is coming to Switch 2. It’ll arrive on February 27, the same day the next entry in Capcom’s classic survival horror series debuts on other platforms. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village will also land on Switch on on February 27.

We learned back in April that the first installment of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy was bound for Switch 2 and now there’s a release date for that. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is coming to the system on January 22.

Switch 2 versions of indie classics

The Nintendo Switch was such an important platform for indie games, and several that became huge hits are getting Switch 2 versions. Overcooked 2 (the ultimate relationship test, in my opinion) will have support for 4K visuals, 60fps gameplay, GameShare and CameraPlay — the feature that allows you to see you and your teammate’s faces on screen as you play —in its Switch 2 version. That’s on the way this holiday season.

Stardew Valley will also support GameShare for co-op play on Switch 2. Mouse controls will be available, as well as four-player splitscreen and eight-player online action. Those who have the game on Switch already will get a free upgrade when the Switch 2 version arrives this fall.

Human Fall Flat is headed to Switch 2 in Spring 2026. That will also have support for mouse controls, GameShare and eight-person multiplayer.

It’s far too early to say whether Powerwash Simulator 2 will become an indie classic, but the original game was terrific and its sequel is getting a Switch 2 version as well. There’s no exact release date for Powerwash Simulator 2 as yet, but it’s still slated to arrive this fall.

Suika Game gets a sequel

Suika Game was a huge hit, and the sequel promises to soak up even more of my time. Suika Game Planet adds an extra dimension to the puzzle action. Instead of dropping fruit into a bucket and trying to combine two of the same items into a larger one, this time there’s a circular stage. That might be a fun wrinkle for anyone (me, hi) who gets frustrated about not being able to reach large fruit at the bottom of the container.

Suika Game Planet is coming to Switch and Switch 2 this winter and I might not be able to do anything else with my time after it drops. The Switch 2 version will support a GameShare mode that allows up to four players to work together.

Virtual Boy is back

Last but not least, Nintendo had an absolute shocker when it came to Switch Online + Expansion Pack. No, it’s not adding Super Mario Sunshine to the Gamecube app just yet. The company is bringing Virtual Boy games to the service, which is more bananas than anything you’ll find in Donkey Kong Bananza.

To play those games from a system that was notoriously undercooked (partly because Nintendo was placing much more focus on the massively more successful Nintendo 64 around that time), you’ll need an accessory. A $100 plastic tabletop one that looks just like the original Virtual Boy and a $25 cardboard version are on the way. They’re compatible with the Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and, if it’s an authentic Virtual Boy experience, probably some eye strain.
