NFT sales double to $256m, Hypurrr tops the list

by admin October 4, 2025

NFT sales volume more than doubled, surging by 103.11% to reach $256.9 million. This is a notable turnaround from last week’s $84.6 million in sales volume.

CryptoSlam data shows:

  • The number of NFT buyers jumped by 18.25% to 694,348
  • Sellers increased by 17.77% to 584,235.
  • NFT transactions dipped by 8.67% to 1,874,619.

Bitcoin’s (BTC) rally to the $122,000 level has energized the entire crypto market. Ethereum (ETH) has followed suit, climbing to $4,500.

The global crypto market cap now stands at $4.2 trillion, up from last week’s $3.78 trillion. This bullish momentum has spilled over into the NFT sector, which has posted impressive gains.

Hypurrr dominates NFT collections

The Hypurrr collection has emerged as the top performer this week, generating $88.77 million in sales across 850 transactions.

The collection attracted 406 buyers and 645 sellers. Hypurrr also dominated the top individual NFT sales, occupying four of the top five spots.

The network processed wash trading worth $20.84 million, bringing its total to $118.24 million. The platform saw 104,625 buyers, up 3.55%.

HyperEVM took second place with $88.77 million in sales, driven entirely by the Hypurrr collection’s performance. Interestingly, the blockchain recorded zero buyers in the tracked period.

Base dropped to fifth position with $10.92 million, down 19.71% from the previous week. The blockchain had 284,780 buyers, up 24.15%.

Solana (SOL) landed in seventh place with $7.74 million, up 56.23% from last week’s $16.1 million. The blockchain recorded 56,811 buyers, up 18.33%.

Moonbirds Token BIRB to Take Flight on Solana as NFT Comeback Continues

by admin October 2, 2025

In brief

  • Ethereum NFT project Moonbirds revealed plans to launch a Solana token, BIRB.
  • The IP has seen a resurgence of activity and interest after being acquired by Orange Cap Games earlier this year.
  • The original Moonbirds NFTs have surged in price in recent months, and again on Thursday.

Recently resurgent Ethereum NFT project Moonbirds has unveiled its next major step: the launch of BIRB, an ecosystem token set to debut on Solana.

The plans were announced at the Moonbirds Birbhalla side event alongside Token 2049 in Singapore, where O.G. supporters and new holders gathered. A teaser post on X suggests the token will launch “soon(ish).”

The pixelated owl collection has been through multiple hands of ownership since launching in 2022. Originally created by Kevin Rose’s Proof Collective in 2022, the collection soared at launch, generating $280 million worth of trading volume in just two days—but crashed due to community backlash as broader NFT hype collapsed.

Yuga Labs, the parent company of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, acquired Proof and the Moonbirds brand in February 2024, but left the IP largely dormant. Renewed optimism followed this May when Orange Cap Games—a gaming and IP development studio led by Spencer Gordon-Sand—acquired the collection.

The acquisition and new updates appear designed to inject new life into the project, especially by tying it into Solana’s popular meme coin ecosystem.

The move reflects a broader trend of so-called “culture coins,” or tokens issued by major NFT communities over the past several months to deepen engagement and unlock new utility. Some collections that peaked during the 2021-22 NFT bull run and were later dismissed have managed to revive interest through token launches.

From PENGU tied to Pudgy Penguins, ANIME from Azuki, DOOD from Doodles, to MOG and MILADY tied to internet-native meme movements, culture coins have become a way for communities to both gamify participation and create liquid, tradable extensions of their brand identity.

Market reaction to the Moonbirds announcement has so far been positive. Secondary market NFT sales spiked after news broke, pushing the collection’s floor price up to 4 ETH, and currently 3.45 ETH at the time of writing—about $15,450 worth.

The NFTs were trading for less than $1,000 worth of ETH earlier this year, before the Orange Cap acquisition. Moonbirds NFTs peaked at a floor price—that is, the cheapest listed asset on a marketplace—of almost $86,000 worth of ETH back in 2022 after the initial mint.

Traders appear to be betting that BIRB, if designed with clear utility, could cement Moonbirds’ relevance following the recent resurgence. In terms of long-term plans for the token, nothing has been announced, but Gordon-Sand cryptically wrote on X, “Timing is everything.”

In a previous interview with Decrypt, he said, “We have a lot of cool stuff we are working on, but we have [never] made specific commitments about it in public, and that’s very much on purpose.”

Even so, don’t expect a surprise token drop—the official Moonbirds account on X noted that there will be “ample time given in the lead up to the launch with more details communicated ahead of time.”

DX Terminal Tops NFT Sales Count in September as Base Dominates Top 10

by admin September 30, 2025

Ethereum layer-2 network Base’s non-fungible token (NFT) ecosystem took center stage in September, recording the highest sales count among collections, according to DappRadar data.

NFTs on Base captured five of the top 10 spots by sales count in September, with DX Terminal and BasePaint securing the first and second ranks. The strong showing highlighted Base’s rapid ascent as a hub for experimental NFT projects, edging into territory long dominated by Ethereum and Polygon.

Despite a surge in sales of Base NFTs, DappRadar data showed that trading volumes remained concentrated on Polygon and Ethereum collections. Polygon-based Courtyard led the month with $43.9 million, while Ethereum-based Moonbirds and CryptoPunks followed with $34 million and $25.8 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Base’s DX Terminal took the number four spot in trading volume with $25.5 million, showcasing a nearly 1,700% surge, according to DappRadar.

AI NFTs take center stage in September

DX Terminal stood out as the driving force behind Base’s rise in the NFT charts. The project recorded 1.27 million sales, an over 1,000% increase compared to the previous month. It also had over 200,000 traders transacting with the NFTs in September.

The project introduces a gaming format where NFTs act as AI-powered trader agents inside a retro-futuristic market simulation. Each NFT represents an autonomous character with distinct traits and behaviors. These characters compete to amass in-game wealth and status while reacting to player prompts, rival firms and non-playable characters.

Unlike traditional NFT games offering play-to-earn (P2E) mechanics, DX Terminal doesn’t offer direct token rewards or any real-world payouts. While the game has in-game tokens, they are not tied to real-world monetary value.

In May, DX Terminal said that its in-game native currency, WEBCOIN, existed offchain and was internally managed.

“The in-game currency holds no real-world value, and any external tokens claiming affiliation are unofficial,” the team said.

Gaming NFTs defy broader market downturn

Among the top 10 NFTs by trading volume, only DX Terminal and Immutable’s Guild of Guardians Heroes NFTs, tied to a role-playing game (RPG), posted gains in September.

DappRadar data showed that blue-chip collections such as CryptoPunks, Pudgy Penguins and the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) saw trading volumes drop by about 50% to 60% over the past month.

Even Courtyard and Moonbirds, which ranked first and second by trading volume during the month, posted declines of around 25% and 13.6%, respectively.

Hypurr NFTs Debut With $68K Floor Price, NFT Mania Returns?

by admin September 29, 2025

Hyperliquid has unveiled its Hypurr non-fungible token (NFT) collection, launching 4,600 unique NFTs on its HyperEVM mainnet. The launch immediately attracted attention, with a notable floor price of $68,900 and millions in early trading volume.

The collection honors early adopters of Hyperliquid, a decentralized perpetuals trading platform, and the implementation of HyperEVM, the Layer 1 (L1) general programmability interface of the platform.

Hypurr NFTs have been deployed on the HyperEVM.

Participants had the opportunity to opt in to receive a Hypurr NFT after the HyperEVM went live as part of the Genesis Event in November 2024. The HyperEVM launched in February 2025 as the general programmability interface to the…

— Hyper Foundation (@HyperFND) September 28, 2025

According to the Hyper Foundation, the Hypurr NFTs aim to give a “memento with those who believed in and contributed early on to Hyperliquid’s growth.” Each NFT is unique, reflecting the community’s moods, hobbies, and tastes.

Distribution and trading performance

During last November’s genesis event, participants had the chance to opt in to receive a Hypurr NFT. Out of 4,600 NFTs, 4,313 were allocated to early event participants, 144 to the Hyper Foundation, and 143 to developers and artists.

Since its launch around 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, the collection has seen active trading. OpenSea data shows a total trade volume of roughly 1,300,000 HYPE tokens, equivalent to about $61 million. The current floor price is 1,540 HYPE ($73,300), and Hypurr #21 is currently sold at 9,999 HYPE, which is almost $470,000.

Potential risks and utility

While Hypurr NFTs have generated buzz across social media, the Hyper Foundation notes that these NFTs may occasionally come with benefits or features, but no utility is guaranteed. Buyers are supposed to know that NFTs are speculative, subject to price fluctuations, and there is no guarantee of returns.

Meanwhile, Hyperliquid’s native HYPE token has gained 5.27% in the past 24 hours, trading at $46.73 according to CoinMarketCap.

The Hypurr collection marks a milestone for Hyperliquid and a fresh start for NFTs in the market after years of stagnation. However, the excitement and the risks must be considered by the investors and collectors and they must carefully research before joining.

Pantera Capital Refutes Investment in NFT Project Akio

by admin September 27, 2025

Akio, a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) project, falsely announced on September 24 that it had raised a $5 million seed round led by Pantera Capital. The announcement, made on the social media platform X, was quickly and publicly denied by Pantera partner Franklin Bi, highlighting an issue of projects making unsubstantiated claims to generate interest. The incident is a warning of the importance of background checks on statements claimed in social media, by crypto projects.

A Funding Claim Unravels

The incident began when Akio published a graphic on its X account detailing a supposed $5 million seed round with Pantera Capital as the lead investor, along with Nvidia Ventures, Hasbro Ventures, AMD Ventures, and other players.

Shortly after the post went live, Franklin Bi of Pantera Capital issued a direct denial on X, stating, “Pantera is not an investor in this.”

Alert: Pantera is not an investor in @AkioWorldNFT.

We’ve confimed the same with several other investors mentioned in the tweet below.

I was blocked by the project & can’t respond directly to the original tweet or comments.

Good luck out there. Stay paranoid. 🫡 pic.twitter.com/FqeWdw7JU4

— Franklin Bi (@FranklinBi) September 25, 2025

Beyond Pantera, none of the other companies shown in the Akio post, Nvidia Ventures, Hasbro Ventures, AMD Ventures, Net Ease Global, SBI GRoup, SIG DTI, Susquehanna International Group Company, have publicly acknowledged any investment in Akio or the publication.

Instead of issuing a correction, the Akio project reportedly blocked Franklin Bi on the platform following his refutation of their announcement.

Legit Information

The Akio incident offers a direct example of red flags and underscores that investors have to carefully review information, as well as the source of the announcement. Legitimate funding rounds are typically confirmed through official press releases or on the investors’ own channels, not just a social media graphic.

Investors can also verify claims with the alleged investors directly, such as: Pantera Capital’s official website reveals no mention of Akio in its portfolio. A lack of confirmation on a venture firm’s official blog, portfolio page, or social media can be a warning sign.

A Playbook for Investor Due Diligence

The Akio incident serves as a real-time case study in the red flags that can surround fundraising announcements. For investors, it places a spotlight on the importance of verifying claims before making financial decisions. Here are key steps for due diligence:

  1. Trust Official Channels: Legitimate funding rounds are almost always announced via official press releases or are featured on the venture capital firm’s own website, blog, or verified social media accounts. An unverified graphic on a project’s own social media is not sufficient proof.
  2. Verify the Portfolio: Check the investor’s official website. Pantera Capital’s online portfolio, for example, contains no mention of Akio. A project’s absence from its alleged backer’s portfolio is a significant red flag.
  3. Seek Cross-Confirmation: Look for reporting from reputable, independent crypto news outlets that have verified the round with the parties involved.

Why false claims threaten investor trust

False claims damage the reputation of the project making them and force venture capital firms to publicly defend their credibility. Also, it contributes to an erosion of trust across the industry. Furthermore, false hype can be used to temporarily inflate the price of tokens or NFTs, leaving uninformed buyers at a loss when the claims are proven false. The Akio-Pantera is a reminder that in a largely unregulated space, claims should  be treated with skepticism.

SEC’s Hester Peirce Apologizes For Agency’s Past Moves, Unveils Personal NFT Plans

by admin September 27, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce has shared potential plans for her future after leaving the Commission. In doing so, the popular crypto advocate joked about launching an NFT collection of real characters, including herself, and other characters in the crypto ecosystem.

Hester Peirce’s NFT Dream

In a speech at the Coin Center, Peirce decided to respond to curious enquiries on her next plan after leaving the SEC.  Notably, the “CryptoMom” and present head of the Commission’s Crypto Task Force has since completed her tenure as an SEC Commissioner and only remains in service pending the appointment of her replacement.

Speaking to her plans post-SEC, Hester Peirce referenced her long-standing passion for beekeeping, which may prove futile due to a lack of experience. She also nudged the idea of functioning as an exchange simply by “wearing a T-shirt,” which was an intended jab at the previous SEC’s practice under Gary Gensler, which attempted to “contort the law” by forcing crypto exchanges to register under the Securities Act with the Commission.

Finally, the SEC Commissioner speaks to a Plan C known as Plan NFT. She began by first noting the regulatory progress on this class of digital assets, saying:

Several years ago, the SEC managed to squelch NFTs with some strategic guidance in the form, of course, of an enforcement action: Digital cats, at least stoned ones, and other NFTs were securities. A more sober view of the securities laws now prevails. Chairman Atkins has recently acknowledged that most digital assets are not securities.

In Hester Peirce’s proposed “NFT collection”, the first token is designed after her and named “CryptoMom.” In total, the Crypto Task Force boss speaks about 18 NFT characters, all based on various personalities she has encountered during her time in exploring the cryptocurrency industry.

Peirce Apologizes To The Crypto Community

In rounding off a rather light-hearted speech, Commissioner Hester Peirce gave a rather heartfelt apology for the rather harsh approach of the immediate SEC tenure to the digital asset space.

The “CryptoMom” also urged present crypto founders, developers, and users to capitalize on the ongoing efforts of regulatory clarity to showcase the best prospects of this technology.

Her statement read:

I am sorry that over most of my tenure at the SEC I failed to convince my colleagues in government to give you a chance. I hope that you and others whom you have inspired will use this time—a time in which regulatory clarity has replaced ambiguity as government’s objective—to build good things that will enhance the safety, security, happiness, and prosperity of your family, friends, neighbors, and nation. Show the skeptics that technologies that enable us to engage permissionlessly and privately with our peers are worth preserving and celebrating.

At press time, the total crypto market cap remains valued at $3.78 trillion after a 0.53% gain in the past day.

SEC’s Hester Peirce Jokes About her ’Crypto Mom’ NFT Plan

by admin September 27, 2025

Hester Peirce, a commissioner at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) known by many in the industry as “Crypto Mom,” gave a speech laced with non-fungible token (NFT) metaphors and a review of the agency’s approach to digital assets.

Speaking at a Coin Center event on Thursday, Peirce seemed to joke in response to speculation that her “days at the SEC [were] numbered,” given her term officially expired in June. However, statutes allow SEC commissioners to serve up to an additional 18 months until the US Senate confirms a replacement.

“A lot of people have asked me what is next,” said Peirce. “I could leave the government and do a 180 on crypto, but that career path is too well-trodden for me. My plan long had been to transition to beekeeping—honey is delicious and nutritious, and bees sting with less glee than most of my Twitter commenters.”

She added, later clarifying that she was joking:

“For post-SEC life, therefore, I must turn to Plan C, or more precisely, Plan NFT […] My NFT collection is going to be a set of characters that I have encountered in the world of crypto, especially at its current, often uncomfortable intersection with policy.”

Peirce, as one of four commissioners and three Republicans currently serving in the SEC’s leadership, has often introduced and backed policy proposals favoring the crypto and blockchain industry. Following the departure of former Chair Gary Gensler in January, she announced the launch of a crypto task force aimed at developing a framework for digital assets.

Related: Who’s in the running to become the next CFTC chair?

The SEC’s “Crypto Mom” appeared to joke with the event’s attendees, describing NFTs resembling her, crypto CEOs, figures from traditional finance, regulators and digital asset influencers before shifting to a serious note on the agency’s future.

“I am sorry that over most of my tenure at the SEC I failed to convince my colleagues in government to give you a chance,” said Peirce. “I hope that you and others whom you have inspired will use this time—a time in which regulatory clarity has replaced ambiguity as government’s objective—to build good things that will enhance the safety, security, happiness, and prosperity of your family, friends, neighbors, and nation.”

Shifting tone on crypto at the SEC since January

Peirce’s comments were not unprecedented. Since the departure of Gensler, whom many in the crypto industry criticized for enacting a “regulation by enforcement” agenda, the SEC has dramatically changed its approach to digital assets.

Starting with the courts, dropping some years-long enforcement lawsuits against crypto companies, and moving to policies that some experts say will result in a wave of exchange-traded fund approvals, the current path of the SEC seems to favor the industry by softening regulatory guidelines.

A market structure bill currently moving through the US Senate is also expected to give the agency greater clarity on digital assets by establishing clear roles for financial regulators.

American Express Turns Travel Memories Into NFT Passport Stamps

by admin September 16, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

American Express has rolled out a new way for cardholders to collect travel memories: blockchain-backed passport stamps that live on a public ledger. The stamps are meant to be keepsakes, not investments, and they are tied to in-person spending while traveling.

American Express Launches Passport Stamps

According to company information and reports, the feature — called Amex Passport — issues NFT-style stamps as ERC-721 tokens on Base, an Ethereum layer-two network.

Eligible cardholders must be US consumer cardholders with their cards linked to their online Amex account. Stamps are earned when a linked card is used in person in any of 130+ qualifying countries and regions, and past trips can be stamped retroactively for up to two years based on purchase records.

What The Stamps Show

Reports have disclosed that each stamp records simple details: the country or region visited, a date, and a short note such as a favorite meal or a memorable sight.

The stamps can be viewed in the Amex Travel app’s Passport section and can be shared to social media or saved to a camera roll. They are non-transferable, which means users cannot sell or move them to other wallets; they are intended strictly as personal mementos.

How Travelers Can Earn Stamps

American Express Cardholders who pay with their Amex card, or via Apple Pay or Google Pay tied to that card, should trigger the stamp when they make qualifying purchases abroad.

Based on reports, the smart contract implementing the program was deployed roughly 25 days before the public announcement, and more than 20,000 stamps had been issued soon after launch. That early uptake suggests some interest among frequent travelers who already use Amex while abroad.

American Express: Privacy And Technical Notes

According to published coverage, American Express aims to limit what goes on chain. Stamps avoid putting personal information such as names or exact purchase details into the public ledger.

Still, the fact that entries live on a public blockchain means there are tradeoffs — some data about visits will be visible to anyone who inspects the contract.

The company says privacy safeguards are in place, but users who are cautious about on-chain traces should be aware of those limits.

What The Numbers Show

A customer survey cited around 73% of respondents saying they want more digital ways to mark trips, while about 56% said they miss getting physical passport stamps.

The initial list of eligible places covers 130+ countries and regions, and retroactive stamping reaches back two years. At launch the program applies only to US consumer cards; corporate accounts are not included.
