Gemini Secures Nasdaq as Investor Before New York Listing

by admin September 9, 2025

Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, has secured Nasdaq as a strategic investor ahead of its New York listing this week.

As per a Reuters report, Nasdaq will buy $50 million worth of Gemini shares during the IPO through a private placement. This investment will also result in a collaboration in which Nasdaq clients can access Gemini’s cryptocurrency custody and staking services.

In return, Gemini’s institutional clients will get access to Nasdaq’s Calypso platform, which helps manage and track trading collateral. Gemini expects its shares to start trading on the Nasdaq exchange on Friday under the ticker “GEMI.” However, the plan could still change depending on market conditions.

The IPO could raise up to $317 million for Gemini. This comes at a time when the U.S. stock market is showing strong demand for new listings. Recently listed IPOs like Figma and Firefly Aerospace performed well on their first day.

If successful, Gemini will be the third publicly traded crypto exchange in the U.S., following Coinbase and Bullish. Coinbase even joined the S&P 500 earlier this year. In recent months, digital asset companies such as Circle and Bullish have launched big IPOs.

Gemini’s Position and Challenges

Gemini is a large U.S. crypto exchange with $21 billion in assets and having traded $285 billion in total volume. It does crypto trading, credit card, and includes assets such as Bitcoin, Ether, and stablecoins.

Despite its size, Gemini has struggled financially. In the first half of 2025, it reported a net loss of $282.5 million on revenue of $68.6 million, compared to a smaller $41.4 million loss a year earlier.

The Winklevoss brothers, sometimes called the “Bitcoin twins,” became early crypto billionaires after investing their Facebook legal settlement into Bitcoin. Now, they’re betting big on Gemini’s public debut with Nasdaq’s backing.

Nasdaq files with SEC to enable trading of tokenized securities

by admin September 9, 2025

The premier tech stock exchanges in the U.S. is preparing to start offering tokenized assets to its traders.

Summary

  • Nasdaq filed with the SEC to enable it to trade tokenized securities
  • These tokenized assets will retain all investor rights and protections
  • The total value of tokenized assets has doubled in 2025

Asset tokenization has gotten its biggest endorsement yet. On Monday, September 8, the Nasdaq stock exchange announced a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission seeking approval to trade tokenized securities.

According to Tal Cohen, president of Nasdaq, the move aims to leverage blockchain’s speed and efficiency while embedding it directly into U.S. equity infrastructure. What is more, these tokenized assets will retain all investor rights and protections, including dividends.

“The integration of tokenization and blockchain technology alongside traditional market infrastructure presents an extraordinary opportunity for the global financial system,” said Tal Cohen, Nasdaq CEO. I am excited to share that we have submitted a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to facilitate the trading of tokenized securities on the Nasdaq Stock Market.”

Cohen said tokenized assets can shorten settlement times and modernize proxy voting, among other benefits. He also emphasized that Nasdaq would always prioritize investor protections and market stability while looking for new ways to leverage the technology.

Tokenized assets become increasingly mainstream

Asset tokenization is becoming one of the strongest trends in crypto markets and is now entering the mainstream. As of August, the total value of tokenized assets doubled year over year, going from $12.4 billion to $26.3 billion.

An increasing number of traditional companies have started to join this market. For instance, on September 8, investment giant Fidelity launched a $200 million tokenized Treasury fund on Ethereum (FDIT).

Treasuries and private credit dominate asset tokenization. Tokenized equities, however, are also increasing in popularity.

Crypto Asset Manager CoinShares to Trade on Nasdaq in $1.2 Billion SPAC Deal

by admin September 8, 2025

In brief

  • European crypto asset manager CoinShares has announced plans to go public in the U.S. on the Nasdaq.
  • The deal sees CoinShares enter an agreement with Vine Hill Capital Investment Corp.
  • A number of crypto firms have gone public this year or have signaled plans to do so.

European digital asset fund manager CoinShares on Monday announced plans to go public on the Nasdaq in the United States.

St Helier, Jersey-based CoinShares, which manages around $10 billion in assets, said it had entered into an agreement with blank-check company Vine Hill Capital Investment Corp. in a transaction valuing CoinShares at $1.2 billion pre-money on a pro-forma basis.

CoinShares stock—which currently trades on the Nasdaq Stockholm—was trading about 1% higher on Monday after surging to a 52-week high earlier in the day. CoinShares will no longer trade on the Swedish exchange once it goes public in the U.S.

“This transaction represents far more than a change of listing venue from Sweden to the United States,” CoinShares CEO and co-founder Jean-Marie Mognetti said in a statement. “It signals a strategic transition for CoinShares, accelerating our ambition for global leadership, supported by favorable regulatory tailwinds.”

CoinShares, which mostly manages crypto exchange-traded funds, last year bought Valkyrie Funds, giving it control over a number of top Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs by the asset manager.

The move to the U.S. market comes amid a wave of firms in the crypto space going public following a more favorable environment under President Trump’s administration.

The Peter Thiel-backed crypto exchange Bullish debuted on the New York Stock Exchange last month, while San Francisco-based Circle, which issues the USDC stablecoin, had a roaring June NYSE debut. Other firms such as Gemini and Figure Technologies are preparing to go public in the near future.

President Donald Trump campaigned on a ticket to help the industry, and the U.S. commander in chief has a number of personal digital asset ventures—including his own official Solana-based meme coin, and the World Liberty Financial crypto platform.

A Bitcoin miner partially owned by two of his sons, American Bitcoin, debuted on the Nasdaq last week, soaring over 80% in its Nasdaq debut before quickly losing its gains. ABTC was trading for nearly $5 per share—up close to 5%—on Monday after hitting a high of $13.93 last week.

SOL Strategies’ STKE shares will be available on NASDAQ from the trading session opening Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025.

The company’s shares will still be available on Canadian Securities Exchange (“CSE”) under the symbol “HODL.” At the same time, the company will sunset trading of its CYFRF shares on the over-the-counter market OTCQB. All such shares will be automatically converted to NASDAQ’s ones.

Introducing the new listing to investors and the community, SOL Strategies CEO Leah Wald expands on why this listing is important to the entire Solana (SOL) scene:

This Nasdaq listing represents more than just an achievement for SOL Strategies, it’s validation for the entire Solana ecosystem. As a leading Solana-focused company to reach this milestone, we’re proud to demonstrate the institutional quality and growth potential that exists within this high-performance blockchain ecosystem. Our listing opens new pathways for institutional capital to access Solana infrastructure through regulated and transparent markets

The company expects the NASDAQ listing to accelerate validator growth through institutional partnerships and cement SOL Strategies’ position as a gateway to Solana’s segment for TradFi liquidity.

First spot SOL ETF with staking kicks off in Kazakhstan

Formerly known as Cypherpunk Holdings, SOL Strategies has been active in the crypto treasuries segment since 2019. The company went all in on Solana in 2024 after a profound rebranding, but still holds 23 BTC on its balance as per Bitcoin Treasuries.

The interest in SOL-based institutional solutions is accelerating across the globe. Yesterday, Sept. 5, 2025, the first-ever Solana ETF with staking went live in crypto-friendly Kazakhstan.

Can Solana price rally as SOL Strategies lists on Nasdaq?

by admin September 6, 2025

Solana price has remained under pressure this weekend as sentiment in the crypto industry remained muted. Still, the upcoming SOL Strategies listing and ETF approvals may trigger more gains, potentially to the all-time high.

Summary

  • Solana price may benefit ahead of the SOL Strategies Nasdaq listing.
  • SOL Strategies has become one of the top Solana accumulators.
  • The SEC will likely approve SOL ETFs in October.

Solana (SOL) was trading at $200 today, Sep. 6, down by 7.6% from its highest point this month. This price is about 100% above the lowest point this year.

SOL Strategies Nasdaq listing and SOL ETF approvals

One of the top catalysts for Solana price is the upcoming listing of Sol Strategies on the Nasdaq, a move that will see it move from the over-the-counter market. It will start trading on Sep. 9 under the ticker symbol STKE.

SOL Strategies has become one of the biggest accumulators of SOL tokens. It holds 435,064 SOL tokens worth over $87 million. It has also announced plans to raise $500 million to accumulate these coins.

SOL Strategies will list at a time when treasury companies have fallen out of favor from investors. Strategy stock has dropped into a bear market, while Japan’s Metaplanet has lost over 50% of its value in the past few months.

The SOL Strategies listing could boost Solana by providing a platform to raise more funds for its accumulation.

The most important catalyst for Solana is the upcoming approval of several SOL ETFs by the SEC. It has set October 16 as the final deadline for the Bitwise and 21Shares SOL ETFs. Other ETFs by companies like Canary, Franklin Templeton, and Fidelity also come out in October.

Solana price is expected to soar ahead of the deadline, as most analysts anticipate the SEC, under Paul Atkins, will approve these funds, with Polymarket odds exceeding 80%.

SOL price chart | Source: crypto.news

The daily timeframe chart shows that the SOL price has rebounded in the past few months. It jumped from the April low of $95 to a high of $218.

The coin formed a golden cross pattern as the 50-day and 200-day moving averages crossed each other. It is now trading at the ultimate resistance of the Murrey Math Lines tool.

Therefore, the token will likely have a bullish breakout to the year-to-date high of $295, up by 47% from the current level.

Canada’s HODL to Begin Trading on Nasdaq

by admin September 6, 2025

SOL Strategies (HODL), a Toronto-listed digital asset firm focused on the Solana blockchain, has secured approval to list its common shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.

Trading will begin Sept. 9 under the ticker STKE, the company said Friday.

Shares will continue to trade on the Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) under HODL, but will be delisted from the U.S. over-the-counter (OTC) market, where they previously traded as CYFRF. Holders of OTC shares do not need to take action, as their shares will automatically convert to the Nasdaq listing.

HODL stock is higher by 8% in Toronto action.

The move marks a significant milestone for the Canadian firm, formerly known as Cypherpunk Holdings, which has rebranded around its Solana strategy.

SOL Strategies started buying solana SOL$203.92 in the second quarter of last year following a strategic pivot. As of Aug. 31 the company held 435,064 SOL tokens, worth around CAD$122 million.

The company said that joining Nasdaq will increase its visibility with institutional investors, improve liquidity, and broaden access to capital markets.

“This listing provides our shareholders with enhanced liquidity while giving us access to deeper capital markets as we continue scaling our validator operations and expanding our ecosystem investments,” said CEO Leah Wald. It’s also “validation for the entire Solana ecosystem.”

SOL Strategies is positioning itself as a leading institutional gateway into Solana staking and infrastructure.

The firm said it expects the Nasdaq listing to accelerate validator growth, support operational scalability as Solana staking demand rises, and strengthen its role in bringing institutional capital into the network.

Solana Treasury Company SOL Strategies to Begin Trading on Nasdaq

by admin September 6, 2025

In brief

  • SOL Strategies received approval to list its common shares on the Nasdaq Exchange.
  • The firm intends to trade under ticker STKE starting on September 9.
  • Shares of the firm were up nearly 20% on the Canadian Stock Exchange on Friday.

Publicly traded Solana treasury and infrastructure company SOL Strategies received approval to list its common shares on the American-based Nasdaq Exchange, the firm announced on Friday.

The Canadian firm expects to begin trading on the Nasdaq on September 9 with the ticker STKE. It will continue trading on the Canadian Securities Exchange as HODL, but no longer trade on the OTCQB Venture Market. OCTQB shareholders will automatically have their shares converted to the Nasdaq listing.

“For SOL Strategies, the listing opens up deeper capital markets, greater institutional visibility, and new partnership opportunities that simply aren’t accessible on other exchanges,” SOL Strategies President and CEO Leah Wald told Decrypt. “For shareholders, it brings enhanced liquidity, broader investor participation, and the credibility that comes with being in Nasdaq’s orbit. We are expanding access and creating a stronger platform for shareholders with real long-term value.”

The official Nasdaq listing remains subject to listing and regulatory requirements, and the firm’s effective registration of common shares with the SEC.

Upon listing, the firm anticipates that it will accelerate growth of its Solana validator operations as it builds institutional interest.

As of August 31, SOL Strategies has accumulated 435,064 SOL, worth around $89 million at the time of writing. Additionally, its validators have amassed more than 3 million staked SOL, worth around $741 million.

The $89 million in its Solana treasury places it third among publicly traded SOL treasuries, according to data gathered by CoinGecko. It trails only Upexi and DeFi Development Corp, each of which holds around $400 million worth of Solana.

Shares of HODL on the Canadian Stock Exchange traded up nearly 20% on the day to $10.21 CAD, or around $7.37.

The firm reported a quarterly annualized revenue growth to around $8.7 million USD in Q2, up from around $3.5 million in the final quarter of 2024, according to a recent investor presentation.

“Earning this listing places SOL Strategies on the same global stage as some of the most innovative public companies,” Wald told Decrypt. “For us, it’s about proving to the market that we’re here to join the fray and fight for a top seat in the public markets.”

Editor’s note: This story was updated after publication to add quotes from Wald.

Nasdaq Approves SOL Strategies Listing For Sept. 9

by admin September 5, 2025

Canadian blockchain company SOL Strategies is set to debut on Nasdaq next week after securing approval to list its shares.

In a Friday notice, SOL Strategies said it would begin listing common shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market starting on Sept. 9 under the ticker symbol STKE.

The listing will end of the company’s shares trading on the over-the-counter venture market OTCQB, while maintaining trading activity on the Canadian Securities Exchange.

“This listing provides our shareholders with enhanced liquidity while giving us access to deeper capital markets as we continue scaling our validator operations and expanding our ecosystem investments,” said SOL Strategies CEO Leah Wald.

The company offers traders exposure to the Solana blockchain through staking the protocol’s ative token, Solana (SOL). SOL Strategies announced raising $500 million in convertible notes in April to buy SOL tokens.

SOL Strategies’ share price on the Canadian Securities Exchange under the ticker symbol HODL surged about 20% on Friday amid the Nasdaq announcement. The company reported a net loss of about $3.5 million for the second quarter of 2025.

Among the companies betting on SOL treasuries is DeFi Development Corp. On Friday, it announced a fresh acquisition of SOL tokens worth $39.76 million, bringing the company’s total holdings to 2 million SOL.

Solana upgrading to Alpenglow after governance process

On Tuesday, Solana announced that an overwhelming majority of a 52% stake participating in the governance process voted to upgrade the network to the consensus protocol Alpenglow. The upgrade is expected to significantly reduce the transaction finality on the network.

“At these speeds, Solana could realize Web2-level responsiveness with L1 finality, unlocking new use cases that require both speed and cryptographic certainty,” the Solana Foundation said in a blog post.

SOL Strategies Lands Nasdaq Approval To List Its Shares

by admin September 5, 2025

SOL Strategies, the first Solana-native treasury company, has secured approval to list its shares on the Nasdaq under ticker STKE, according to exclusive information obtained by Blockworks. The long-anticipated U.S. debut comes after nearly a year of restructuring and regulatory navigation and could set the stage for a new era of on-chain finance going public.

From Canadian Shadows to Nasdaq Spotlight

Once buried in the Canadian markets as Cypherpunk Holdings, the firm reemerged in 2024 as SOL Strategies under ex-Valkyrie CEO Leah Wald. The passive treasury model was scrapped in favor of full-throttle validator ops on Solana, acquiring nodes from Orangefin, Cogent Crypto, and Laine, while powering branded infrastructure for Pudgy Penguins and Solana Mobile. A stark pivot from crypto treasuries still clinging to cold storage and inertia.

Its $90 million in SOL may trail the top Solana DATs—each sitting on $380M+—but limited access to U.S. markets had been a bottleneck. That’s no longer the case.

What Nasdaq Means for Solana-Native Treasuries

The listing vaults SOL Strategies into a growing class of publicly traded digital asset treasury companies (DATs) now backed by Wall Street infrastructure. According to Blockworks Research, every Solana DAT now trades on Nasdaq—except BIT Mining, which remains on the NYSE.

It’s also a warning shot: traditional treasuries without staking revenue or ecosystem ties may struggle to compete as Solana-native firms capture yield, attention, and legitimacy in public markets.

In a statement, CEO Leah Wald framed the listing as both milestone and market signal:

“Our approval to list on Nasdaq signals to both institutional and retail investors that a Solana-focused validator and treasury company can meet the same standards of transparency, resilience, and growth expected of any public company. It also demonstrates that our approach is resonating within both the Solana ecosystem and traditional capital markets.”

The firm’s 900% stock rally over the past year may speak louder than words. And with the ticker STKE now active on Nasdaq, SOL Strategies is betting that staking-first treasuries aren’t just a trend—they’re a new blueprint.

Mike Cagney’s Figure Technologies Seeks $4.13B Valuation in Nasdaq IPO

by admin September 3, 2025

Figure Technologies, the blockchain lender founded by SoFi co-founder Mike Cagney, is aiming for a valuation of up to $4.13 billion in its upcoming initial public offering, according to new filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company and its backers are seeking to raise as much as $526 million through the share sale, making Figure the latest crypto-linked firm to test equity markets as investor appetite for new listings returns.

Shares are set to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker FIGR, with Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, and BofA Securities leading the underwriting syndicate.

Figure has been a prominent player in the real-world asset (RWA) sector, originating more than $16 billion in home equity lines of credit using its Provenance blockchain rails.
