Thieves steal ancient Pharaoh’s bracelet in Cairo museum heist, sell it for just $4K

by admin September 22, 2025

An ancient Egyptian bracelet once belonging to Pharaoh Amenemope has been stolen from Cairo’s Egyptian Museum and melted down, authorities revealed.

The gold bracelet, dating back 3,000 years, was taken on September 9 from the museum’s restoration lab while officials prepared artifacts for an exhibition in Italy.

The piece, a simple gold band adorned with a lapis lazuli bead, was part of the collection of Amenemope, a pharaoh of Egypt’s 21st Dynasty who ruled from Tanis in the Nile Delta.

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy said the lab where it was stolen lacked security cameras, leaving the priceless item vulnerable.

Authorities say the bracelet passed through several hands before being destroyed after the museum heist. A restoration specialist at the museum confessed to giving the artifact to a contact who owned a silver shop in Cairo’s Sayyeda Zainab district.

From there, it was sold for around $3,800 to a gold workshop, and later resold for about $4,000 to another jeweler who melted it down to make other pieces of jewelry.

Security camera footage released by the ministry shows one suspect presenting the bracelet at a shop, weighing it, and being paid for it.

Four suspects have been arrested, including the museum restoration specialist. They reportedly confessed to their roles in the heist. The money earned from the sale has been seized, though the artifact itself is gone.

Amenemope’s tomb was discovered in 1940 by French Egyptologist Pierre Montet and forms part of the museum’s Tanis collection, which includes thousands of objects such as gold funerary masks and silver coffins.

Under Egyptian law, stealing an artifact with intent to smuggle it can carry a life sentence and fines up to $100,000, according to AFP. Authorities have not yet announced specific charges against those involved.

The loss of the bracelet has sparked outrage among Egyptologists and historians, who consider it an irreplaceable part of the country’s cultural heritage.

This isn’t the only museum heist to make headlines. Back in 2024, at least four employees at the Van Gogh Museum were suspended after it was discovered that they reportedly stole Pokemon cards during the popular exhibition.

All Prospecting Museum Effects Guide

by admin September 2, 2025

The new Museum update brings another way you can get various boosts based on which minerals you display in the Museum. Different minerals give different effects and the effects increase based on rarity, modifiers and size. Here are all Prospecting Museum effects and boosts.

Prospecting Museum Boost Guide

Screenshot by Destructoid

Essentially, Prospecting Museum effects give you a boost (All effects detailed below) when you display a mineral. You have to pay shards to display a mineral. The multiplier of the boost becomes greater based on mineral rarity and weight/size. Also, you can get extra boosts from minerals if they have a modifier. So I highly recommend displaying your heaviest mineral with the rarest modifier you can find. Here are all modifier effects before we dive into individual mineral effects:

  • Pure: Dig Speed
  • Shiny: Shake Strength
  • Glowing: Shake Speed
  • Scorching: Dig Strength
  • Iridescent: Luck
  • Irradiated: Modifier Boost
  • Electrified: Dig and Shake Speed
  • Voidtorn: Luck and Capacity

The values for each modifier Museum boost effect depend on the rarity of your mineral. It’s 0.01x for Commons, Uncommons and Rares, 0.02x for Epics, 0.03x for Legendaries, 0.05x for Mythics and 0.1x for Exotics. Now let’s dive into all individual Mineral Museum effects below.

Two Point Museum getting spoof video game exhibits in free Digiverse update next week

by admin August 23, 2025

Two Point Museum is set to receive a free update next week adding digital exhibits.

Two Point’s latest management game has players discovering a variety of exhibits to add to their museums, from prehistory to marine life and science.

From 28th August, players will be able to take on expeditions in The Digiverse to add exhibits based on Meat Wizard, Two Point County’s in-game video game spoof. The studio has even hinted at a dark secret in the games.

The new expedition map will become available once players complete City Act 2 (Memento Mile).

The Digiverse will arrive as part of update 5.0, bringing further quality of life changes, bug fixes, and other optimisations.

Two Point Museum released earlier this year and has already received a number of updates. “Come for the clowns and cavemen, stay for the zombie capitalism,” reads our review.
