Kill Bill Returns To Theaters As One Big 4 Hour Movie

by admin October 2, 2025

Two of director Quentin Tarantino’s most popular and successful movies, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2, are merging back into one large 4-hour movie as first envisioned. This longer, uncut version will arrive in theaters nationwide in December with 70mm and 35mm showings in some select locations.

On October 1, Lionsgate and Tarantino announced plans to combine both volumes of Kill Bill into one large movie. Technically, the director behind Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained has shown a version of Kill Bill Vol 1 and Vol 2 edited together at past events. But the Whole Bloody Affair will be the first time that general audiences around the country will get a chance to see the two action-packed revenge movies starring Uma Thurman like this.

“I wrote and directed it as one movie — and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie,” said Tarantino. “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”

The Whole Bloody Affair arrives in theaters over 22 years after Kill Bill Vol. 1 was first released in 2003. That gory martial arts movie told the first half of the tale of Thurman’s Bride, who seeks revenge after a group of assassins ambushes her wedding and tries to kill her. Originally, Vol. 1 ended with a cliffhanger ending that was resolved in Kill Bill Vol. 2, released the following year in 2004. And that movie started with a recap of what happened in the first film. Both the recap and the cliffhanger have been removed from this version to create a more seamless one-film experience. This new version also includes a new seven-minute animated sequence.

Tarantino’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair arrives in theaters on December 5. It has a runtime of around 4 hours and 18 minutes.

18 Years Later, Disney Announces A New Simpsons Movie

by admin September 29, 2025

Disney’s 20th Century has announced that a new movie based on the long-running animated TV sitcom The Simpsons is in the works. The newly announced sequel will arrive in 2027, 20 years after the release of the first Simpsons flick.

On September 29, Disney and 20th Century announced on social media that a new Simpsons film was officially in development. No plot details were shared about the movie, but Disney did post a teaser poster for the upcoming sequel. The poster features Homer Simpson grabbing a pink doughnut covered in sprinkles shaped like the number 2, likely hinting that the movie will be titled The Simpsons Movie 2.  The tagline “Homer’s combing back for seconds” is included on the poster. So, good news, Homer is back. Shocking, I know, but there you go.

Woohoo! The Simpsons are coming to theaters with an all-new movie on July 23, 2027! pic.twitter.com/wVqxwn8rLc

— 20th Century Studios (@20thcentury) September 29, 2025

Created by Matt Groening and premiering in 1989, The Simpsons is the longest-running sitcom on TV. While many have criticized the show’s quality since the late ’90, the series has remained extremely popular on TV and is considered an anchor of Fox’s Sunday block of animated TV shows. The original Simpsons movie premiered in July 2007 and was a huge box office hit, earning over $536 million at the global box office. That movie featured a story about a giant dome being put over the town of Springfield due to pollution. It also brought back old former writers, took years to make, and featured a more detailed art style.

We’ve heard rumors for years of a second Simpsons movie, including a proposed follow-up featuring the franchise’s alien characters Kang and Kodos. That movie didn’t move forward as the writing staff couldn’t stretch the plot out to a full-length movie. But now it seems the writers and producers behind the show have finally nailed the plot for the next flick. Now we just have to wait until 2027.

Swery’s oddball roguelike Hotel Barcelona isn’t exactly good, but its janky jaunt through horror movie history is endearing all the same

by admin September 28, 2025

Ten seconds into Hotel Barcelona, you’re watching an aerial shot tracking a car through the mountains, The Shining-style; a couple of minutes later, a gas station attendant is giving you an ominous warning about the campsite up ahead where a young baseball player drowned. Even the bar you eventually visit has nicked its décor wholesale from the Overlook Hotel. If nothing else, Deadly Premonition developer Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro’s latest oddball endeavour – an action-roguelike created in collaboration with No More Heroes’ Goichi “Suda51” Suda – is an endearing love letter to horror movies, even amid the jank.

Hotel Barcelona

  • Developer: White Owls
  • Publisher: Cult Games
  • Platform: Played on PC
  • Availability: Out now on Xbox, PC

You play as perpetually flustered US Marshal Justine Bernstein, whose deceased father made a pact with a serial killer named Dr. Carnival long ago. And while the specifics of the deal remain mysterious, the upshot is you’re now possessed – very much against your will – by the evil doctor’s surprisingly chatty soul. But silver linings and all that; it turns out being able to call on the formidable bloodlust of a notorious serial killer is quite handy when you’re battling through waves of undead B-movie rejects on your hunt for the witch that murdered your pa.

It’s a premise that’s compelling in its preposterousness, but Hotel Barcelona doesn’t exactly make a strong first impression as a game. It’s essentially a side-scrolling roguelike where you move from left-to-right bludgeoning monsters until you reach the big boss five areas later at each level’s end. Death means starting over, but you can at least use the spoils of your most recent attempt to expand and upgrade your repertoire of skills for another go. As with most games made by Swery’s White Owls studio, though, it feels pretty rough. Movement is slippery and weightless; its mushy, strangely spartan visuals – which have the air of something assembled using assets from a budget PS2 game when the art director was on holiday – are often completely unreadable, and the chain of responsibility has faltered so much, even the script’s typos have made it into the voice acting.

Hotel Barcelona trailer.Watch on YouTube

But as with White Owls’ previous games, there’s an earnest can-do spirit to Hotel Barcelona’s delirious nonsense – its larger-than-life characters, its wild conversational asides, and its pinwheeling sense of mad invention – that’s easy to like. This is a game where ability upgrades are doled out by a monster – sorry, a French monster – called Tim who lives in your hotel room closet. There’s a suspiciously friendly barman called Grady (what else?) who’ll happily supply useful upgrade materials in exchange for severed ears, and there’s a possibly haunted pinball machine in the corner that’s already hoovered up a significant amount of my time. And while the fundamentals of its roguelike action will be extremely familiar to anyone who’s played Dead Cells and its ilk, it’s got ideas of its own here as well.

I should begin by saying that Hotel Barcelona’s initially stilted combat does loosen up quite quickly as you start to unlock the likes of high kicks and ground pounds, but it remains awkward in a way that I suspect won’t improve. And while enemies in the early stages are rarely more than dim-witted cannon fodder, I’ve been enjoying the wrinkles Hotel Barcelona introduces with each new run. There’s the slowly burgeoning arsenal of knives, sticks, axes, buzz saws, handguns, shotguns, flamethrowers, and projectiles to augment your basic slaps, kicks, blocks, dodges, and – yes – serial killer possession powers. Plus there’s a randomisation gimmick that means the time of day, weather, and even you are different each time.

One run might take you on a misty morning jaunt through terror, while the next time you visit the level, it’ll be during a midnight downpour and you’re suddenly three times taller than you were before. And if you want to mix things up even further, there are optional Bondage Rules (don’t ask), introducing handicaps – no melee, no dodging, 1HP mode, lethal water, and so on – for an extra element of risk and reward. It adds a bit of variety to the inherently repetitive roguelike formula, and there’s a further twist in each stage’s comically incongruous doors. Passing through a door takes you along a different path on the way to the boss, but also awards you a random temporary boost – perhaps more health or a stronger attack – you can reclaim from your body on the next run-through. Some doors initiate challenges to complete on-the-fly, while others take you to more discrete areas with minigame-like rules.

Then there’s Hotel Barcelona’s main gimmick, which sees you playing alongside Phantoms – basically recordings of your previous attempts – with each new run. The idea is you can use your earlier actions to your advantage (provided you don’t stray from a previously followed path, that is) by, say, kiting enemies into your former selves as they whirl violently around. Admittedly, Phantoms have yet to prove particularly useful beyond boss fights, but it all adds up to something I keep being drawn back to, even with the unavoidable jank.

I’m not for a minute suggesting Hotel Barcelona is a genuinely good (or even slightly good) video game, but I do kind of dig it all the same. Yes, its sometimes-tone-deaf jokes fall flat, and yes, it’s a mess. But it’s such an affectionate, enthusiastic homage to horror movies – with its unsubtle easter eggs, and its parade of slasher villain rejects and familiar hunting grounds – that the genre nerd in me can’t help but be swept along. Will I tire of it quickly? Quite possibly. Should you rush out and buy it? Probably not. Am I glad I spent the morning walking the strange halls of Hotel Barcelona with a serial killer inside me? Yes, I most definitely am.

Everything we know about Death Stranding Mosquito: Anime movie cast, plot, more

by admin September 24, 2025

An animated Death Stranding movie is in the works, yes, alongside a live-action movie as well, and we’ve got the early rundown on all there is to know. From cast details to the plot, here’s the full overview.

Hideo Kojima is a busy a man. Hot on the heels of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, one of 2025’s best games, he’s now working on a plethora of gaming and non-gaming projects.

From OD and Physint to a live-action Death Stranding movie and now, even an animated film as well. The Death Stranding universe continues to expand beyond the scope of Sam Porter Bridges and his continent-hopping journey, as the anime film titled Mosquito has a different focus.

While it’s early days yet and the film is very much in active development, here’s an early rundown on everything we know thus far.

Is there a release date?

No, there’s currently no release date or even rough release window for Death Stranding Mosquito.

Article continues after ad

All we know is that the anime film is in the works, but there’s no quite telling when it might be finished. Animation can take years to nail down, as we’ve seen with the likes of the Spider-Verse trilogy.

Article continues after ad

Given we’ve only seen a small glimpse with its reveal in 2025, it’d be wise not to expect this one imminently. If we had to hedge our bets, we’d look to a 2027 release for this one.

What’s the anime movie about?

Kojima has confirmed the animated movie will not focus on Norman Reedus as Sam. Instead, it’s set to “chart a bold, original story,” according to a press release upon the film’s reveal.

Our first look came during the Kojima Productions 10th Anniversary Livestream on September 23, 2025. It revealed two new characters, one being the yet-unnamed protagonist.

Article continues after ad

Both look to be Porters for rival delivery companies, and they’re both equipped with Odradeks capable of scanning Beached Things (BTs) in the area. Exactly why they’re fighting so fiercely, however, remains a mystery.

Kojima teased the title of Mosquito has to do with the main character and “their ability. The character has the ability to suck something really important.”

It’s open to speculation but our guess is this character can separate the Ha and Ka, as the open shot of the trailer appeared to take place in The Seam. It’s here, in this realm before the dead are transported to The Beach, that our protagonist approaches the body of another and seemingly ‘sucks’ their life force in order to trigger repatriation.

Kojima ProductionsWe think the protagonist has a very important ability indeed.

Of course, we’ll just have to wait and see if that is indeed the case.

Death Stranding Mosquito cast & crew details

Little is known about the actors involved in the project at the time of writing. No Hollywood A-listers or voice acting legends have been announced, but there’s no doubt some big names are sure to be attached in typical Kojima fashion.

What we do know is who’s helping shape the story and the visual style. Aaron Guzikowski has signed on to write the anime film, following on from acclaimed works like Prisoners and Raised by Wolves. “He had a good idea,” Kojima said.

Meanwhile, Hiroshi Miyamoto is directing the anime itself, leading the charge for the mix of hand-drawn and digital artwork.

Our first look at Death Stranding Mosquito debuted during the Kojima Productions 10th Anniversary event alongside a litany of information on other projects in the works. Here, we got our initial glimpse at the unique art style along with key art featuring the protagonist.

Call Of Duty Movie: Activision Is Asking What Fans Want It To Be Based On

by admin September 22, 2025

A Call of Duty movie is in the works now at Paramount, but it’s still early days and there isn’t much to go on at this stage. But now, Activision is seeking fan feedback about what they want a live-action Call of Duty movie to be “inspired by.”

A survey being sent to members of the community feedback program Recon Squad asks fans to rank what they want the film to be inspired by. The choices include Black Ops, Modern Warfare, Zombies, or something other than Black Ops or Modern Warfare. Alternatively, Activision wants to know if people would instead want a totally new Call of Duty story to serve as the inspiration for the movie.

The survey was first reported on by Detonated.

EXCLUSIVE | NEW #CallofDuty Recon Survey asks Players to RANK what they want the ‘Live-Action Movie’ to be INSPIRED BY, with these options:

💥 Black Ops
💥 Modern Warfare
💥 ‘Call of Duty Zombies Story’
💥 NOT BO or MW (Ghosts, AW, etc)
💥 NEW Call of Duty Story pic.twitter.com/38hgahd2d9

— DETONATED (@DETONATEDcom) September 18, 2025

Of course, Activision and Paramount aren’t going to make the movie based on fan feedback alone, but the companies are clearly keen on gathering notes from fans.

Paramount boss David Ellison said in the Call of Duty movie announcement that he’s a big fan of the series, singling out the original World War II games, all the way through Black Ops and Modern Warfare.

“We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve. I can promise that we are resolute in our mission to deliver a cinematic experience that honors the legacy of this one-in-a-million brand–thrilling longtime fans of Call of Duty while captivating a whole new generation,” Ellison said.

Activision has been trying to make a Call of Duty movie for years. In 2015, the company established Activision Blizzard Studios and announced it would make an entire universe of Call of Duty movies. At the time, the team said it had plotted out “many years” of Call of Duty movies based on Call of Duty sub-brands like Modern Warfare and Black Ops, but none have ever come to be. Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of Soldado) was at one point attached to direct one of the Call of Duty movies, with Oscar-nominated writer Scott Silver signed on to write.

Iconic Hollywood director Steven Spielberg reportedly wanted to make a Call of Duty movie, but he apparently had a series of demands that Activision wasn’t willing to agree to.

The next Call of Duty game, Black Ops 7, launches in November. A multiplayer beta for Black Ops 7 launches in early October.

Resident Evil Movie Will Keep The Game World “Intact,” Says Director

by admin September 21, 2025

Barbarian and Weapons director Zach Cregger previously said that his upcoming Resident Evil movie is a “weird story” that won’t use the games’ already established heroes like Leon Kennedy. But he wants fans to know that this film is set firmly in the same world as Capcom’s survival-horror games.

“It’s an entirely original story,” Cregger told Entertainment Weekly. “When you watch it, you’ll be like, ‘This is very Zach.’ It’s just [that] it takes place in the Resident Evil world. I don’t think fans of the games are gonna be bummed. … I respect the games enough where I’m gonna like tell a Resident Evil story in the Resident Evil canon that still leaves everything they love intact from the games, you know what I mean?”

Cregger also confirmed that Weapons actor join Austin Abrams has a leading role in Resident Evil, but didn’t share any specifics about his character. He only said that, “[Abrams is] so right for the role in Resident Evil.”

Abrams may soon be joined by another veteran actor, as Paul Walter Hauser reportedly signed on earlier this week. The Resident Evil movie will begin shooting this October in Prague, and more casting announcements should follow soon. Resident Evil will hit theaters on September 18, 2026.

Next year is also the 30th anniversary of the original Resident Evil. Capcom is celebrating by releasing Resident Evil 9: Requiem in February 2026, alongside Resident Evil ports for Switch 2.

Coyotes review: Justin Long stars in a very silly movie about when animals attack

by admin September 21, 2025

Coyotes stars Justin Long and Kate Bosworth as a couple doing battle with a pack of rabid dogs, in a comedy-horror that leans into laughs rather than scares.

Coyotes concerns a very real problem facing the people of Los Angeles, and over the opening credits, that phenomenon is explained via news reports.

Thanks to a spate of wildfires, coyotes have been pushed deeper and deeper into LA neighborhoods, and these opportunistic predators are now doing whatever it takes to survive.

Article continues after ad

That’s the jumping off point for director Colin Minihan’s new horror movie, which addresses a serious subject, in the silliest way imaginable.

What is Coyotes about?

Aura Entertainment

Following a prologue that sees a Paris Hilton type mauled by one of the title characters, the story proper introduces a family living in the Hollywood Hills – Scott and Liv (played by real-life couple Justin Long and Kate Bosworth) and their teenage daughter Chloe (Mila Harris).

Article continues after ad

They seem happy, though have an apparent problem with rats in their beautiful home, which is revealed to them by an eccentric exterminator called Devon (Keir O’Donnell, channelling John Goodman in the similarly themed Arachnaphobia).

Article continues after ad

While they’re waiting for Devon to wipe the rodents out as a way of sending a message to all other vermin in the area, a storm arrives on their doorstep, knocking down trees, and killing their power.

Which is when the coyotes appear, seeming vaguely threatening at first, before becoming more direct by growling, bearing their teeth, and then going on the attack.

“I think it wanted to eat you” a confused Liv tells Scott during a particularly concerning coyote interaction, and as more of the rabid beasts congregate on their lawn, then try to get into their house, it becomes apparent that the family is facing a fight for their lives.

Article continues after ad

Wild animals vs wild characters

That story is told with its tongue firmly in cheek, as potential victims are painted in the broadest of brush-strokes, and oftentimes asking for the doggie assault that’s coming their way.

Article continues after ad

From the coked up neighbor and drunk Irishman in a shell-suit to the sex worker obsessed with conspiracy theories, Coyotes is filled with colorful characters that aren’t to be taken seriously.

Meaning each ultra-violent death is played for laughs, from a tragic barbecue demise to a shocking ribcage cameo, they’re memorable deaths, but the type that will inspire more laughs than scares.

Article continues after ad

That said, there are moments of levity in the movie, thanks to Liv’s issues with Scott’s workaholic tendencies. Indeed, his comic book career and obsession inspires some interesting visuals, character introductions, and jokes, but also threatens to tear his family apart.

Though every time Coyotes flirts with getting serious on that front, the script by Ted Daggerhart, Daniel Meersand, and Nick Simon undercuts the tension, most notably in a hilarious scene where Scott pours his heart out to a wife who can’t hear him.

Is Coyotes good?

Aura Entertainment

Coyotes is a fun film that delivers on the promise of wild dogs doing battle with dumb humans, while Justin Long – as ever – is a likeable lead, who has you rooting for his character, in spite of some truly terrible decisions.

But there’s a fatal flaw in many of those scenes, as the coyotes rarely look real. Indeed, there are times when the movie feels like live-action merged with bad animation, and all that computer-generated imagery frequently takes you out of the movie.

Article continues after ad

If audiences can put up with that issue however, the horror and comedy elements complement each other nicely, while Coyotes deserves bonus points for not demonising the coyotes themselves, thanks to a surprising sting in the tale/tail…

Coyotes score: 3/5

If you can ignore the bad CGI, and like a broad comedy about even broader characters, Coyotes is a decent entry in the ‘when animals attack’ genre, that manages to sneak in an important environmental message.

Coyotes was reviewed at Fantastic Fest, while the film hits theaters on September 29, 2025. While for more scary stuff, check out our list of the best horror movies ever.

This Creepy Slasher Movie Inspired By An Iconic Disney Character Is Coming To 4K Blu-Ray

by admin September 19, 2025

There are immutable truths about our world: rain falls, wind blows, and the second a beloved IP enters the public domain territory, you can bet that a slasher movie based on it will hit theaters in record time. We’ve seen it happen to Winnie the Pooh, and last year it happened to Steamboat Willie, the 1928 Disney character who served as the prototype for what would eventually become Mickey Mouse. Steamoat Willie entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, and then earlier this year was reimagined as a horror movie villain with the animated horror-comedy short, Screamboat, created by . The movie is getting a Blu-ray release on December 9, including a fancy steelbook edition 4K Blu-ray that’s availabe to preorder for $43 at Amazon.

$43 | Releases December 9

This two-disc set includes both 4K and standard Blu-ray copies of the movie. The UHD version is in native 4K with HDR10 and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. The cover is deceptively cute, as it features Steamboat Willie waving to the audience, but when you look closer, you’ll see that he’s surrounded by carnage. The back cover sports a CG-render of Willie overlooking the New York City skyline.

Screamboat Bonus Material

The Blu-ray doesn’t come with much in the way of extras, but you’ll at least get a few deleted scenes, a short behind-the-scenes documentary, and audio commentary with Willie’s actor, David Howard Thornton.

  • Audio commentary track with actor David Howard Thornton
  • Documentary: The Making of Screamboat
  • Deleted scenes

Screamboat was announced a mere day after Steamboat Willie entered the public domain. It tells the story of a late-night ferry ride in New York piloted by a murderous version of the formerly kind-hearted mouse, who has become warped and twisted after years of neglect. Passengers who use the ferry fall victim to Willie’s rampage. While the movie is admittedly forgettable and a cash grab at best, it is notable for its connections to a larger horror movie franchise, Terrifier. The producers of Terrifier 2 and 3 are responsible for this movie, and David Howard Thornton–who plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier movies–steps into the furry costume of Willie for this movie.

The movie has had a mixed reception since it was first released in cinemas in April, but if you want to see a tiny mouse horribly murder people and you’re a fan of practical effects, then Screamboat might be worth picking up. It’s impressively ultraviolent, and it’s the kind of movie you can enjoy without needing to overthink things.

$19

This isn’t the only beloved IP that has been turned into a slasher movie–nor will it be the last, we imagine–as, believe it or not, there are two movies that transform Winnie the Pooh and his friends into homicidal monsters. Billed as the first instalment in the Twisted Childhood Universe, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was released in 2023, and it’s a horror-parody of A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard’s classic Winnie-the-Pooh books.

This time, Pooh finds blood to be sweeter than honey as he goes on a killing spree alongside his best friend Piglet. The movie hasn’t received a 4K release yet, but you can pick up a standard Blu-ray release of it. For special features, all it includes is the original theatrical trailer and a short documentary detailing its production. The film was made on a tight budget of around $100,000, but it grossed $7.7 million at the global box office.

$25

Naturally, a sequel wasn’t far behind, as Pooh returned alongside Piglet, Tigger, and Owl to take revenge on Christopher Robin for revealing his existence to the world. Again, don’t expect much in the way of special features, as all you’re getting with this Blu-ray is a theatrical trailer and an image gallery that collects various film stills. Walmart does offer an exclusive steelbook case version of the movie, and you can pick up both of them in an affordable two-pack on Blu-ray as well.

TKTKT

Watch the entire film series, if you dare

While slasher films aren’t nearly as popular in the 2020s as they were in the 1980s and 1990s, the exception to that rule is The Terrifier franchise. The series of movies starring Art the Clown is not for the faint of heart, as each movie ups the gore to a stomach-churning level. The character has become a modern-day horror movie icon since he first debuted, and there are several editions of the Terrifier trilogy to pick up. Fans looking to watch the first movie and the prequel anthology movie All Hallow’s Eve can grab a two-pack Blu-ray for just $27, and you can get both Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 in 4K Blu-ray formats.

There’s even a Terrifier 3 Amazon-exclusive Limited Edition Collector’s Box Set that comes with several extras, including a themed “box of soap” and barf bag. Trust us, if you’re watching the threequel for the first time, you’re going to need these items.

Weapons director says his Resident Evil movie will leave everything ‘intact’ from the games: ‘I’m not gonna steal Leon and put him in an original story’

by admin September 19, 2025

Zach Cregger is on a roll. The writer and director of 2022’s Barbarian and this year’s Weapons now has two solid horror hits under his belt, and is in pre-production on his next one: a Resident Evil movie planned for 2026.

That’s good news for Resident Evil fans who might otherwise be a bit wary about yet another new Resi movie—the film franchise was already rebooted once, just four years ago, with the thoroughly mid Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Cregger’s track record, though based on a small sample size (at least when it comes to feature films) is a good reason to be optimistic.

And for those wondering which game and characters this new Resi movie will be based on, it looks like the answer is: none of them.

Related articles

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cregger confirmed that while the 2026 film will take place in the Resident Evil universe, “It’s an entirely original story,” instead of being based on any one specific game. Cregger is also steering away from major Resident Evil characters like Leon S. Kennedy.

“I’m not gonna steal Leon and put him in an original story. I think that would be presumptuous,” Cregger told EW. “But I respect the games enough where I’m gonna tell a Resident Evil story in the Resident Evil canon that still leaves everything they love intact from the games, you know what I mean?”

I think I know what he means. When using a character people are already familiar with, like say Master Chief in the recent Halo TV series, you run the risk of disappointing people who have expectations of that character, like when you show his naked butt, or when he has sex. A safer and more creative approach is to handle it like the Fallout series, which creates mostly original characters and sets them loose in a familiar world.

Both Barbarian and Weapons are effective not just because they’re scary, but because they’re intriguing. By presenting the story of both films from the perspective of different characters and jumping around in time, we don’t get all the information in a linear fashion, which gives both movies a fun sense of mystery. At other times we get information before certain characters do, too, and then we’re left dreading the horrible things we know are coming their way.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

I’m curious if and how Cregger will use similar methods in his Resident Evil movie.

“I think that when you see it, you’ll understand how I can be obsessed with original ideas and still make a movie that is an IP-based thing,” Cregger said. “I know that doesn’t make a lot of sense now, but I hope that it will later.”

Cregger’s Resident Evil movie is scheduled to be released, wow, exactly one year from today, on September 18, 2026. Confirmed in the cast is Austin Abrams, who played the role of James, the drug-addict, in Weapons, and Paul Walter Hauser, who played Ed in this year’s The Naked Gun and Mole Man in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Ice Cube Explains His Awful War Of The Worlds Movie

by admin September 16, 2025

Last month, Amazon quietly released a new film version of H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds. The movie, in which everything we see is happening on computer screens, stars Ice Cube and was a huge flop with critics. It featured a scene where the world is saved thanks to an Amazon drone driver. Seriously. Now, a month later, the rapper and actor has explained how the internet’s favorite bad movie of 2025 came to be.

During a recent livestream marathon hosted by popular creator Kai Cenat, Ice Cube dropped by to talk about his career, his future projects, and just shoot the shit with Cenat and his friends. At one point during the stream, Cenat asked Ice Cube about Amazon’s War of the Worlds. And while Cenat didn’t call it a terrible movie, it was clear that Ice Cube wasn’t particularly happy about the finished product, which apparently was shot half a decade ago in about two weeks.

“[War of the Worlds is a movie] I did in 2020 during the pandemic, five years ago,” Ice Cube told Cenat during the marathon stream. “We shot it in 15 days, and it was during the pandemic. So, the director wasn’t in there. None of the actors was in there. This was the only way we could really shoot the movie. [It was] pandemic time.”

Ice Cube added that this is the reason War of the Worlds is presented entirely as a series of computer screens. He then added: “But really, if shit went down, everybody would only have their screen to look at.”

As for why the movie took five years to release, Ice Cube provided an odd answer, telling Kai Cenat that after Universal sold the movie to Amazon Prime, it “took a minute to finish” the film because of “how it was shot.”

“The movie is shot, the actors are shot, but all the footage is from real surveillance cameras around the world,” claimed Ice Cube. “And they had to build all that shit. So yeah, it took a minute.”

As someone who has watched the movie and flipped through it a few times, I think a lot of the footage featured in it is actually stock footage or content licensed cheaply from some asset library.  But hey, maybe they really did fly around the world collecting original security camera footage for this straight-to-digital low-budget adaptation of a classic novel. That’s possible, too, I guess…?
