Kick Streamer Reportedly Dies On Camera After Months Of Alleged Abuse

by admin August 19, 2025

Raphaël “Jeanpormanove” Graven reportedly died in his sleep earlier this week following broadcasts on Kick where he was routinely assaulted by others in controversial “humiliation” livestreams. According to the BBC, a judicial investigation in France is underway, with French government minister for digital technologies Clara Chappaz calling what Graven experienced “absolute horror.”

The death of the 46-year-old, whose streaming career began with TikTok videos about GTA 5 and FIFA and who had amassed over a million followers across all his channels, appears to have been captured live during his latest, and last, marathon Kick broadcast. Graven’s more recent content, which he created as part of the collective Le LokalTV, included being seemingly brutalized by two fellow streamers who go by the aliases “Naruto” and “Safine,” with some clips appearing to show violent, prolonged strangulations. An investigation last year by Mediapart alleged that Graven had been subject to “months of online abuse.”

It’s unclear what exactly the relationship was between all of the men, though reporting by Mediapart suggests the “humiliation” streams were lucrative and helped propel the popularity of Graven and the group’s channel on Kick. Naruto and Safine were reportedly taken into custody earlier this year but were later released amid an ongoing investigation. Kick also temporarily suspended the channel but it later resumed streaming again. Clips of the alleged abuse can be found circulating online.

Mediapart now reports that viewers of the stream earlier this week on Discord became worried about Graven’s condition after he appeared to being laying motionless in his sleep for an extended period of time. According to the AFP, an autopsy to determine the cause of death has been ordered.

Kick is a competitor to Twitch and YouTube known for its loose guidelines and minimal moderation. Streamers there can promote gambling and other topics that are prohibited on other streaming platforms. A representative for Kick told the BBC it was “urgently reviewing” the circumstances around Graven’s apparent death on camera. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jeanpormanove and extend our condolences to his family, friends and community,” they said.

Mafia: The Old Country will get a proper open world mode via game update “in the coming months”

by admin August 19, 2025

Mafia: The Old Country may be an offer you can probably refuse, but it does have a lush-looking open world – “clearly designed with care and a sharp eye for capturing the beauty of a fairytale landscape that alternates between serene and rugged,” as Mark “Ice Pick” Warren wrote in our review.

The game’s focus on shootybangs and stabfights does the backdrop a disservice, as does its rather barren and easy-to-miss Exploration mode, which I hear is basically a chance to snaffle up some collectibles. Devs Hangar 13 and their godfathers at 2K Games aim to fix all that with a forthcoming Free Ride mode, which will “add some new activities and gameplay, arriving free for all players in the coming months,” according to a developer update.

Hangar 13’s previous Mafia: Definitive Edition also had a Free Ride mode, which let you roam Lost Heaven taking on new missions and races and even tussling with alien invaders. I would assume The Old Country’s version will be similar in both content and direction. Can’t wait to see what flying saucers look like in 1900s Sicily.

I’m always happy when blockbuster devs add modes that encourage you to revisit and savour the texture of the world. Projects such as Mafia: The Old Country typically pour tens of millions into the creation of art assets that are doomed to be appreciated for around five seconds while players zip fecklessly from cover to cover.

I guess that mingled decadence and disposability is part of the triple-A thrill, like burning 100 dollar bills to light a cigar. Have you ever done that? I once set a five pound note on fire for a dare, but I extinguished it immediately and, I think, bought a coffee with it. This is why I will never run 2K Games.

Again, there’s no hard launch date yet for Free Ride in Mafia: The Old Country. In the shorter term, Mark has dug up a first-person driving mod, which allows you to savour the period detail at the modest expense of occasionally seeing your own eyeballs floating in front of your face.

Major Xbox Layoffs Reportedly Inbound, For The Fourth Time In 18 Months

by admin June 24, 2025

Major layoffs across Xbox will happen next week, according to a new report from Bloomberg. These layoffs, the fourth round at Xbox in 18 months, will be part of a company-wide reorganization in Microsoft’s Xbox division.

Bloomberg also reports Microsoft will cut thousands of jobs throughout its various divisions next week as well, with sales being hit the hardest.

Last year, Microsoft laid off 1900 employees across Xbox, Activision Blizzard, and ZeniMax in January. In May 2024, Xbox shut down Redfall developer Arkane Austin, Hi-Fi Rush studio Tango Gameworks, and more; shortly after, Xbox made more job cuts across its various studios and divisions. These cuts have happened for many reasons, but among them is Microsoft’s desire to boost profit margins and subsequent studio release struggles after its purchase of Activision Blizzard for $69 billion in 2023.

This is an in-development story, and Game Informer will update it as it learns more about the anticipated layoffs set for next week.

The hearts of the Game Informer staff are with everyone affected by these layoffs.

Hong Kong To Issue Stablecoin Licenses In Coming Months

by admin June 24, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

As crypto-related legislation and adoption continue around the globe, Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary revealed that the regulators will begin issuing stablecoin licenses to qualified issuers in the next few months.

Hong Kong Preparing To Issue Licenses

Speaking to local news outlet China Daily, Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary, Paul Chan Mo-po, affirmed that the Monetary Authority (HKMA) will begin issuing licenses for stablecoin issuers in the coming months following the passage of the related bill a month ago.

On May 21, Hong Kong’s Legislative Council passed the long-awaited Stablecoins Ordinance, requiring any individual or entity seeking to issue a fiat-referenced stablecoin (FRS) in the jurisdiction, or any Hong Kong Dollar (HKD)-pegged token, to obtain a license from the HKMA.

Under the legislation, which will take effect on August 1, licensed entities will be allowed to offer FRS in Hong Kong, while retail investors will be able to access the tokens issued only by these qualified institutions.

The ordinance aims to reinforce regulatory oversight on the digital assets industry, fostering innovation and “responsible, sustainable” development, the Financial Secretary reportedly stated.

According to Daily China, he also revealed that the Hong Kong government is taking a “step-by-step” approach to develop the sector, attempting to ensure balanced growth with regulation as the first step of its phased plan.

Chan said that the second step might involve stablecoins linked to other assets that are “integrated with the real economy,” adding that they must have practical use cases, instead of “being speculative instruments.”

Notably, he considers that “The stablecoin, particularly when it is referenced to fiat currencies, (has) many use case scenarios,” including cross-border payments to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Big Companies Eye Stablecoin Adoption

Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary stated that regulators have received several applications from entities seeking to become qualified issuers, adding that the licenses will start being issued in a few months.

According to recent reports, multiple companies have applied for the HKMA license this month, including logistics technology firm Reitar Logtech and the overseas arm of Chinese mainland financial technology giant Ant Group.

Additionally, e-commerce giant JD.com, through its fintech arm JD Coinlink, has been testing HKD-pegged tokens under the regulator’s sandbox program. Per the report, several financial and technology firms have been testing the stablecoin issuer sandbox since July 2024.

JD Coinlink’s CEO, Liu Peng, affirmed that the company expects to obtain the HKMA’s license in early Q4 2025 and launch a JD Stablecoin simultaneously, detailing that the firm ended its second phase of testing last month.

Meanwhile, several tech giants are also exploring similar approaches in the US to optimize cross-border payments and transaction costs. As reported by Bitcoinist, multiple Big Tech companies, including Apple, X, Airbnb, and Google, are in early discussions with various crypto firms to integrate stablecoins.

This move follows the bipartisan push from US lawmakers and the Trump administration to pass two crucial crypto-related bills, the GENIUS Act and Clarity Act, before the early August legislative recess.

by admin June 23, 2025

Dune: Awakening will receive a steady flow of new content, with major updates planned to release every three or four months, according to developer Funcom.

In a Reddit AMA, Funcom outlined its vision for the future of its popular survival MMO set in author Frank Herbert’s sci-fi universe. Executive producer Scott Junior said each major update will be free and include new story and PvE content. These updates will be released alongside the game’s paid DLCs, which can be bought standalone or together as part of the game’s season pass.

Now Playing: Dune: Awakening — The Trooper Mentor Class Gameplay Trailer | Schools of the Imperium

Junior additionally mentioned Dune: Awakening will receive new PvE maps for players to explore in the future, though it’s unclear if these would be included for free as a major update or come in the form of a paid expansion.

As for the more immediate future, Junior said an update is coming in early July that will contain “too many” quality-of-life changes to list. Junior didn’t go into detail on what those changes would be, but said to expect the patch notes when the patch is closer to being ready for testing.

Funcom dove into plenty of other topics as part of the AMA, ranging from plans to make it so players can name storage containers and vehicles to its thoughts on potential changes to Dune: Awakening’s PvP-focused endgame. Many of players’ complaints are focused around the heavy reliance on vehicles in the game’s endgame Deep Desert zone, so much so that PvP encounters are largely between flying Ornithopters rather than on-foot encounters where the game’s melee and firearms can come into play. When asked about the potential of a Deep Desert zone where only ground vehicles would be allowed, creative director Joel Bylos shot down the idea but did say Funcom is looking to make some changes.

“The current balance between vehicles and on-foot is not tuned to our liking and there are multiple changes in the pipeline to address this,” Bylos said.

Other additions players can expect in Dune: Awakening’s future based on Funcom’s Reddit answers include an option to duel other players, a deposit all option for water, changes to the endgame PvE Landsraad system, additional contracts to complete, and a third faction that “will change the entire dynamic” of the Landsraad, according to Bylos.

Dune: Awakening is finding major success on Steam, having surpassed 140,000 concurrent players. Its most recent update addressed some of its endgame PvP problems by making it so vehicles no longer deal damage when colliding with other players, as well as increased respawn timers in PvP zones. Dune: Awakening is still slated to launch on consoles, but not until 2026.

4 Months Record Broken, 1,500,000 XRP

by admin June 22, 2025

With more than 1.5 million payments made in a 24-hour period, XRP recently achieved a significant milestone in terms of network activity, breaking a four-month record. On-chain activity is increasing, suggesting a potential discrepancy between usage fundamentals and market sentiment, even though the price action presents a less hopeful picture. From a technical standpoint, XRP has descended from the symmetrical triangle formation that had been forming for weeks.

Since XRP has lost the 200-day moving average’s support, the short-term price outlook is bearish. This type of breakdown typically signals the start of a downward trend. Additionally, the RSI fell below 40, indicating that the bearish momentum is intensifying. Since there is currently little support, XRP might test lower levels in the days ahead if it doesn’t recover quickly.

XRP/USDT Chart by TradingView

The ledger, however, presents a different picture even though the chart indicates weakness. Payments have increased significantly according to on-chain data, on June 21 alone over 1.5 million transactions were processed, the most since early 2025. This spike in activity suggests that XRP Ledger is becoming more useful and widely used for actual transactions.

You Might Also Like

Since increased usage tends to drive demand, price recoveries have historically frequently been preceded by a sustained increase in network usage. Investors find themselves in a paradoxical situation due to the disparity between technical weakness and on-chain strength. The price is responding to current liquidity flows and market pressures, but the fundamentals are beginning to show signs of recovery.

Despite the current breakdown, XRP may find stable ground and even reverse course if this trend in payment volume continues or increases. Volatility will probably continue to be high in the near future. Nonetheless, if general market conditions level off, the recent surge in XRP Ledger activity could provide a crucial base for future gains for holders who have held the cryptocurrency for a medium to long time.

Skate reboot “just months away” from launch, as playtests open up to all who register before end of June

by admin June 18, 2025

EA’s free-to-play Skate reboot is officially gearing up to launch into early access this “summer”, narrowing down its previous “2025” release window. But first, it’ll receive its “biggest playtest update” yet, which will be made available to all registered Insiders starting on 2nd July.

This latest iteration of Skate was formally unveiled in 2022 as an “authentic evolution” of the beloved skateboarding series, and is being developed by Full Circle, a studio specifically set up to work on the project. Its team – which includes original Skate creators Deran Chung and Cuz Parry – has been intermitently sharing progress reports since then, and select players have even been able to participate in early closed playtests.

Playtests were expanded to consoles at the start of this year (and were rapidly followed by microtransactions), and EA now says it’ll be opening playtests up to everyone, provided they’ve registered their interest before 27th June. This comes ahead of Skate’s “biggest playtest update yet”, which will pave the way for its early access release this “summer”.

Skate as it looked in playtests back in February.Watch on YouTube

Skate’s impending update is officially titled Update 0.27.0, and promises “upgrades, changes, fixes, and performance improvements”. EA goes into a little more detail in its blog post, but playtest participants can expect a visual overhaul, bringing the likes of increased environmental detail, improved lighting and shadows, better textures and effects, UI enhancements, and an increase in players per server to 150.

That’s alongside more missions and challenges – EA says players will now find over 140 challenges around the city of San Vansterdam – plus expanded character customisation options (including more hairstyles, gestures, and emotes), and overhauled progression and rewards.

EA’s blog post also contains answer to some frequently asked questions (no to keyboard and mouse support, yes to cross-progression, for instance), but the important bit is that anyone wanting to experience Skate’s impending playtest update on 2nd July will need to have registered as an Insider by 27th June, with access invitations set to go out in waves. Registration will no longer be available after this point, as Full Circle makes final preparations for Skate’s “summer” early access launch. It sounds like summer might be nearing its end by the time Skate arrives, however, given EA also says the game is now “just months away”.

$650M Crypto Fraud Charges Dropped: CEO Acquitted Months After Stabbing Incident

CEO Acquitted Months After Stabbing Incident

by admin June 18, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

A South Korean court has acquitted Lee Hyung-soo, CEO of crypto investment firm Haru Invest, of criminal fraud charges linked to the alleged mismanagement of investor funds amounting to over $650 million.

The decision, issued on Tuesday by the Seoul Southern District Court, comes nearly a year after Haru abruptly froze customer withdrawals and shut down operations in mid-2023.

The ruling follows intense scrutiny from prosecutors, investors, and the broader public, as the case became one of the country’s most prominent crypto-related legal battles.

Lee and several executives at Haru Invest and its parent company Blockcrafters were accused of misrepresenting investment risks while offering high-yield returns—allegedly up to 25% annually, before the company suspended operations.

Prosecutors initially estimated damages at over $1 billion affecting 16,000 users but later revised the figure to roughly $650 million tied to around 6,000 investors. The prosecution had sought a 23-year prison sentence for Lee, arguing the investment model constituted deliberate fraud.

Court Finds Lack of Criminal Intent Amid Broader Market Fallout

The court determined that while there was managerial failure, Lee’s actions did not fulfill the criteria for criminal deception under South Korean law. The judgment referenced external factors such as the collapse of the FTX exchange and subsequent crypto market turbulence, which contributed to Haru’s inability to meet investor obligations.

According to report, the court supported Lee’s claim that Haru’s business model involved legitimate investment strategies and generated real profits, distinguishing the case from deliberate Ponzi-style operations.

Co-CEOs of Blockcrafters, identified only by their surnames Park and Song due to South Korean privacy norms, were also acquitted of fraud charges. Kang, Blockcrafters’ chief operating officer, was cleared of fraud but found guilty of embezzlement and sentenced to two years in prison.

The verdict leaves open the path for civil litigation, as the court emphasized that the ruling only pertains to criminal liability and does not absolve the defendants from financial accountability to affected investors.

In a separate but related incident, Lee was physically attacked during court proceedings in August 2023 by an individual claiming to have lost 100 BTC, worth millions of dollars, in Haru’s failed investment platform.

The attacker was sentenced to five years in prison in April 2024. Lee survived the stabbing with non-fatal injuries and has continued to maintain that he is working toward compensating victims through bankruptcy recovery efforts.

Wider Implications for South Korea’s Crypto Regulation

The outcome of the Haru Invest case may influence future legal interpretations of crypto fraud in South Korea, especially in cases where business failure is driven by external market shocks rather than intentional deception.

South Korea has been actively updating its regulatory stance on digital assets, and this high-profile ruling may prompt further legal clarification around custodial responsibilities and investor protection in the crypto industry.

Lee’s acquittal, while relieving him of criminal charges, leaves unresolved concerns for thousands of investors still awaiting compensation. The bankruptcy proceedings and potential civil lawsuits will likely continue to shape the aftermath of one of South Korea’s most significant crypto collapses to date.

Altcoin Market Set For Massive Surge In Coming Months – Is Altseason Finally Here?

by admin June 17, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

For a prolonged period, Altcoins have remained in the shadow of Bitcoin, as the flagship asset dominated the crypto market with its powerful growth. However, all that could change soon. Many crypto analysts are currently pointing to a resurgence of the alt market, predicting an impending major uptrend.

A Parabolic Altcoin Rally Looming

Presently, a positive development appears to be unfolding in the altcoin market performance. Following a phase of relative dormancy and subdued price action, Captain Faibik, a technical expert and trader, has hinted at a possible incoming spike in the alt market once again.

In the 1-day time frame chart, the alt market is flashing a bullish signal as it draws closer to a key breakout from a broadening wedge pattern. A broadening wedge formation is a technical chart pattern that is displayed by an expanding channel of high and low levels of support and resistance.

Alts market gearing up for a breakout | Source: Captain Faibik on X

Given that a breakout is in sight, the expert is confident that alts are about to go parabolic in the third quarter of this year. As numerous altcoins are building solid bases and gathering upward momentum, it looks like the stage is set for a potentially explosive run in the upcoming months.

According to Captain Faibik, the pain of the past six months may finally flip into significant gains, expressing his bullish sentiment towards several alts. While a rally brews, the analyst has urged investors not to panic sell or keep watching charts. Rather, they should extend their focus on accumulating and holding non-BTC assets in Spot.

Historical Trend Pointing At A Massive Altseason

BATMAN, another crypto analyst who has also examined the current price action of alt market, has predicted an impending explosive rally. On the weekly chart, the expert has identified the reoccurrence of past trends that preceded a major Altcoin Season.

Drawing attention to 2020, the chart shows that alts went wild during the cycle all the way to 2021. Within this period, alts market pumped hundreds of percent off the bottom, topped out, pulled back, pumped again, and then finally dumped hard the last time before the real altseason started.

Looking at the 1-week chart, this pattern seems to be resurfacing, forming a similar double top-like move that tricked many retail buyers into purchasing the second high. BATMAN claims that altcoins now feel as dead as they did in the past.

However, the charts are nearly identical when aligned, down to the -53% decline from the second peak to support. Even though history does not always repeat itself, it often rhymes, and the expert is confident that a similar result might occur in this cycle.

In his recent analysis of the altcoin market cap, Michael Van De Poppe, a crypto expert and founder of MN Consultancy, noted that the market is signaling a strong upward move, which would be occurring in the coming periods. Considering the bullish signal, the expert believes that “this current cycle is far from over.”
