The Flippening? Ethereum ETFs Attract $4 Billion This Month, While Bitcoin Products Struggle

by admin August 30, 2025

Ethereum (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are set to close August 2025 with total net inflows exceeding $4 billion, significantly outpacing their Bitcoin (BTC) counterparts, which recorded more than $600 million in outflows during the same period.

Ethereum ETFs Outshine Bitcoin ETFs

According to data from SoSoValue, spot Ethereum ETFs have attracted $4.04 billion in net inflows so far this month. In contrast, spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $628 million in net outflows in August.

Among Ethereum-focused funds, BlackRock’s ETHA ETF leads the market with $16.88 billion in net assets as of August 28. Grayscale’s ETHE follows with $4.80 billion, while Fidelity’s FETH holds $3.56 billion.

The total net assets tied in spot ETH ETFs currently stands slightly above $29.5 billion. This figure represents almost 5.5% of Ethereum’s total market cap.

On the Bitcoin side, BlackRock’s IBIT remains the leader with $83.8 billion in net assets, followed by Fidelity’s FBTC at $22.45 billion and Grayscale’s GBTC at $20.01 billion.

Although BTC ETFs still dominate in overall value, the latest data suggests the gap between Bitcoin and Ethereum investment products is narrowing. If the current momentum continues, August 2025 could mark the month when ETH ETFs outperformed BTC ETFs by their widest margin yet.

One of the major factors driving Ethereum ETF inflows is ETH’s growing appeal as a balance sheet asset. Corporate adoption of ETH has accelerated this year, bolstering confidence in its long-term role in institutional portfolios.

This year, several notable companies announced plans to add ETH to their balance sheets. For instance, SharpLink Gaming recently doubled down on its ETH bet, adding another 56,533 ETH to enhance its ETH reserves.

Similarly, ETHZilla – an Ethereum treasury company – recently increased its total ETH holdings to more than 102,000 ETH. Data from CoinGecko shows that, currently, BitMine is the leading publicly-listed company with the largest ETH reserves – holding over 1.7 million ETH.

Will ETH Surge Past $5,000?

Institutional sentiment toward ETH continues to strengthen. VanEck CEO Jan van Eck recently described ETH as “the Wall Street token,” highlighting its growing role in enabling stablecoin transfers across financial institutions.

Despite its recent rejection from close to $5,000, the overall demand for ETH remains vehemently strong. As a result, ETH reserves on exchange continue to dwindle at a rapid pace, which may lead to quick price appreciation for the digital asset in the near-term. At press time, ETH trades at $4,340, down 4% in the past 24 hours.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon Studio Announces RGG Summit And Direct For Next Month

by admin August 29, 2025

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the team behind the Yakuza/Like A Dragon franchise, has announced it will hold an RGG Summit next month, immediately followed by an RGG Direct. The summit will bring “the latest info directly from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio,” on Wednesday, September 24, at 4 a.m. PT/7 a.m. ET, and the RGG Direct following it will give “a closer look at some of the studio’s latest announcements.”

As for what to expect at the Summit and Direct, RGG doesn’t tease anything, though it has various projects in the works like Stranger Than Heaven, a new Virtua Fighter, and almost assuredly, a new Like A Dragon project. The studio also recently released Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, which features new cutscenes and more, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, and fans are hoping the team might bring it to other platforms.

If you’re looking to set your expectations, last year’s summit included the reveal of Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Who knows what we might see at this year’s event, but it’s less than a month away, so we don’t have to wait too long.

In the meantime, read Game Informer’s Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii review, and then read our Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth review after that.

What do you hope to see at this year’s RGG Summit and Direct? Let us know in the comments below!

Arcadian Days, A Relaxing Non-Linear Adventure, Hits Early Access Next Month

by admin August 28, 2025

Solo developer Immersiv Games reached out to me back in June to check out its non-linear adventure game, Arcadian Days, during Steam Next Fest, and it ended up being one of my favorite demos from the event. Now, Immersiv Games has revealed Arcadian Days hits Steam Early Access on September 16, and if you’re looking for something relaxing and unique to check out, I’d recommend giving it a shot.

During the Steam Next Fest demo, I was impressed by its minimalist, free-flowing exploration and sun-kissed visuals – throughout the demo, a gorgeous sunset created a painterly backdrop to my leisurely tasks, which included collecting plants for a crop or wood in a shed. The tasks I experienced weren’t too challenging, and completing them took little effort, but Immersiv Games’ self-proclaimed “non-linear” and “relaxing” makes me think this is by design. Though I love me some fast-paced, high-intensity action games, Arcadian Days’ demo reminded me that it’s equally as rewarding to check out a game that asks you to slow down and breathe.

I look forward to seeing how the Arcadian Days evolves during its Early Access period. Arcadian Days launches on PC via Steam Early Access on September 16.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s Deep Of Night Is An Endless “High-Difficulty Expedition Mode” Coming Next Month

by admin August 28, 2025

Since launching in May, Elden Ring Nightreign, the multiplayer roguelike spinoff of Elden Ring, has continued to receive updates introducing new bosses and more. Now, developer From Software has announced the game’s biggest update yet – Deep of Night – will go live next month on Thursday, September 11.

Deep of Night is a “high-difficulty” Expedition challenge mode “designed for seasoned players who have navigated through the Night many times,” the studio writes in a press release, suggesting this already-difficult game is going to get a lot harder soon. In Deep of Night, the enemies are stronger than usual. Plus, you cannot specify the target Nightlord for the Expedition, meaning the final boss of the run will be random.

Alongside this, From Software says ongoing terrain changes will not be reflected, and that special items such as “Depth Relics,” which are exclusive to Deep of Night, and weapons with multiple additional but also detrimental effects, will appear on runs. Furthermore, the difficulty increases the deeper you descend, and “the ratings will fluctuate based on wins and losses, affecting the depth.”

From Software says players should aim to surpass Depth 3, and notes that Depth 4 to Depth 5 will “feature an endless battle for those seeking even greater thrills,” suggesting that Deep of Night can turn into an endless-run mode.

The Deep of Night update for Elden Ring Nightreign goes live on Thursday, September 11.

Roblox makes unrated games unplayable next month, has a plan for old favorites ‘to ensure these cherished classics are not lost’

by admin August 28, 2025

Roblox is in the midst of expanding and implementing new systems and policies around age verification and user safety, including setting a date for when it plans to restrict unrated Roblox experiences for all users. Starting on September 30, 2025, (most) unrated games will not be playable or discoverable by anyone.

When the new rules roll out next month, unrated games won’t be deleted entirely, but instead locked to a developer-only view limited to “people actively working on the experience.” That’s good news for developers who may need more time to comply with the short notice, but the decision raised concerns about rendering unrated, abandoned games entirely inaccessible.

Roblox says it has a solution for keeping “popular classics available for players to enjoy” in its updated developer forum post, explaining that its moderators “will identify notable experiences from creators who are no longer active on Roblox, and ensure they have content maturity labels.”

Related articles

What counts as a “popular classic” will rely on factors like lifetime visits, recent visits, engagement, and games marked as user favorites. If you’ve got an old Roblox experience you’re worried about, the announcement included a bit of advice to advocate for its preservation:

“If there is an experience that you want to remain public, simply play or favorite that experience. This will provide us with signals on where to focus our efforts. We will provide regular updates on our progress to preserve classic Roblox content.”

Responses to its latest clarification around unrated restrictions are all over the place. What started as a restricted content policy change from last year prohibiting children under 13 from playing, searching for, or discovering unrated games has ballooned into something far-reaching. On Reddit, IAmABoredCat1590 shared a recent Roblox creator email reminding developers of the change, and responses include community concerns for smaller, abandoned games that may fly under the radar.

Oh! They’re doing it **now?** from r/roblox

That’s echoed in developer responses on the Roblox forum, too. One programmer highlighted a sentiment I’ve seen pop up a few times now, suggesting Roblox mark all old experiences 18+ by default so they’re not left unplayable if they do not meet the criteria for “popular classic.”

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Roblox responded to some of the complaints, again asking active creators to complete compliance forms for every game they wish to keep active and further clarifying its preservation guidelines for inactive games:

“We understand that some of your favorite experiences were published by creators who are no longer active on Roblox. To ensure these cherished classics are not lost, we are committed to preserving all unique public experiences from these creators that have reached at least 1,000 lifetime visits.

“This is a significant undertaking that will take time. Our work begins immediately, with an initial push to preserve a large number of classics by September 30, 2025. We will continue this process until every unique public experience with over 1,000 lifetime visits as of that date has been preserved.”

The response at least outlines the bar for what counts as a legacy experience worth salvaging to the Roblox team, but inevitably means some games will disappear for good unless their creators return.

The whole thing is an ugly mess as Roblox reckons with years of accusations regarding failures to protect children from predators using the platform. And while the platform did announce earlier versions of these guidelines last year, there’s been a rapid-fire list of additions following Louisiana’s Roblox lawsuit claiming the platform “continues to facilitate the distribution of child sexual abuse material.”

The Newly Revived Acclaim Is Hosting A Showcase Next Month

by admin August 27, 2025

On March 4, it was announced that defunct publisher Acclaim had been resurrected (again), this time as an indie publisher. After months of waiting, it’s time to learn what new games will bear that iconic rainbow logo thanks to the publisher’s first digital showcase.

On September 10, Acclaim will host the Play Acclaim showcase to reveal its lineup of upcoming titles. The news follows a series of teaser trailers posted to the publisher’s official YouTube channel (such as the one below), which is where the presentation will be broadcast. Play Acclaim will air at 11:30 a.m. PT/2:30 p.m. ET.

Acclaim was a household name in the ‘80s and ‘90s as a publisher for many well-known games and franchises, including Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Turok, numerous WWE titles, and even more licensed games. The publisher closed its doors in 2004 due to poor sales and failure to pay royalties to its licensors. The brand was acquired and revived in 2006 as Acclaim Games, a totally different entity focused on offering free online games from other territories. Acclaim Games was then shuttered in 2010.

This revived Acclaim will focus on the independent game scene, promising to provide funding, marketing, and PR support to smaller studios. Acclaim’s advisory board consists of Russell Binder at Striker Entertainment, Mark Caplan at Ridge Partners, and pro wrestler Jeff Jarrett at Global Force Entertainment.

“We’re not here to chase ghosts,” said Alex Josef, CEO of Acclaim in today’s press release. “We’re here to take the energy and chaos that made Acclaim unforgettable and channel it into something new. The old screens are cracking, and what’s coming through is something exciting and different.”

It’s shaping up to be a crazy month for new games, with Indiana Jones’ beefy-looking story DLC finally arriving on September 4

by admin August 24, 2025

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s story DLC, Order of the Giants, has gotten an official release date of September 4 via a new “launch trailer” on YouTube. Is it really a “launch” trailer if we’re still over a week away from launch? And is the full title then “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and the Order of the Giants?” Much to consider.

The DLC will see Indy return to Rome to investigate the ancient legend of a jumbo-sized medieval crusader interred under the city, with his quest taking him from the streets above to the catacombs and below. Biblical giants, or Nephilim, played a big role in the Great Circle’s story, and I’m still confused how the DLC will fit in with that plot.

Launch Trailer – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle™: The Order of Giants – YouTube

Watch On

Does it branch off the section in the Vatican at the beginning of the game, or will it take place after the main quest, or otherwise as a fully standalone thing you select from the main menu? I also don’t know how much excitement for Nephilim-related ancient conspiracies and revelations I still have after the resolution of the base game’s story.

Related articles

On the flip side, the Vatican chapter of The Great Circle was my favorite part of one of my favorite games of last year, so maybe I should just shut my big yap and enjoy some more swashbuckling hijinks in the Blackshirt-occupied Eternal City. The trailers have focused on underground tomb raiding for the most part, but if there’s another dense, Deus Ex-style urban sandbox in this DLC, I’ll be a very happy man.

The Order of the Giants has a hefty $35 price tag, which I’m taking as a promise of quality and scope—hope springs eternal, and I’m an optimist at heart. The DLC can weirdly only be bought with the game’s $100 “premium edition,” or as the $35 “upgrade” to that edition from the $70 base game. So theoretically shelling out for the big boy version up front is the “better” deal if you don’t have Indy and the Big Circle in your library already, even if it feels very bad.

September is shaping up to be stacked for releases, with both Order of the Giants and Hollow Knight: Silksong dropping on the fourth alone. I love The Great Circle and Machine Games, but smart money’s on the scrappy bug game guys from Australia being the ones who blow the doors down sales-wise.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

HOTEL BARCELONA – Xbox Launch Trailer | Coming September 26, 2025 – YouTube

Watch On

Back in 2019, Goichi “Suda51” Suda and Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro announced a forthcoming horror game under typically bizarre circumstances. As Fraser reported at the time, the duo—who are responsible for No More Heroes and Deadly Premonition respectively—basically brainstormed the project during a livestream. At the time they decided it would be an indie horror game called Hotel Barcelona. The PS2 game Siren would be an inspiration, and Devolver would publish.

Six years later, it turns out Hotel Barcelona is an actual game that will see an actual release next month—on September 25 to be exact—but it has clearly evolved away from those early ideas. For one, Devolver isn’t publishing: the relatively new Cult Games will handle that duty instead. Another big departure, at least to my eyes, is that Hotel Barcelona doesn’t look scary. It’s a 2.5D sidescrolling action roguelite set in a bizarre hotel, with all the surrealist flair you would expect from this duo. If you came away from that 2019 livestream thinking “great, two of the weirdest fellows in games are making a Siren tribute”, then maybe keep your expectations in check.

The trailer above is ample evidence that Suda51’s affection for 1980s edgelord trappings remains undiminished, but as for the basic gist of what you’re doing in Hotel Barcelona, I’ll let the publisher’s note do the talking. “With trippy anime-style visuals designed by the artists behind genre-defying Japanese hits like Chainsaw Man, Persona, and Final Fantasy VII Remake, try to escape this luxury getaway turned psychedelic nightmare and defeat the hotel’s bloodthirsty new management – tough as nails brutes, psychopaths, and criminals from all over America. Suffice to say, you won’t be alive by checkout.”

The precision-oriented combat comes with an interesting twist: as the protagonist Justine becomes drenched in the blood of her enemies she’ll build towards a special attack that unleashes Dr. Carnival, who is a “deranged murderer” she happens to share her brain with. The game will be split across seven areas, each inspired by different sub-genres of horror. There’s also three-player online co-op and PvP invasions.

Hotel Barcelona releases September 26 and it’s on Steam now. It’s also launching on Xbox Game Pass.

Hollow Knight Silksong finally gets release date, out next month

by admin August 22, 2025

Hollow Knight Silksong has finally received a release date, as announced today by Team Cherry today along with a new trailer.

Silksong will be available on 4th September across Switch consoles, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, including on Xbox Game Pass.

News of today’s announcement was hinted at earlier this week at gamescom’s Opening Night Live, along with a fresh look at gameplay. More of that was shown in the new announcement video you can watch below:

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Special AnnouncementWatch on YouTube

Silksong is playable at the event too, though it’s the same demo that was shown back in 2019 – albeit in revised form. It’s proving to be a particularly popular game at the show.

Eurogamer’s Dom Peppiatt braved the queues to go hands-on with Silksong, and came away impressed with its high challenge and how Hornet’s movement differs from the original game’s Knight.

After seven years of development, finally Silksong is almost in our hands.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.

Nasdaq Boots Windtree a Month After $700M BNB Treasury Pivot Fails to Lift Stock

by admin August 21, 2025

In brief

  • Windtree confirmed its shares will be suspended from Nasdaq trading on Thursday for failing to meet the $1 minimum bid price.
  • Last month, it said it had committed to buy up to $700 million in Binance’s BNB token.
  • Struggling firms pivoting into crypto treasuries may lack substance beyond the narrative, Decrypt was told.

Windtree Therapeutics, a Pennsylvania-based drug developer, is being delisted from Nasdaq, just over a month after its $700 million pivot into a digital treasury firm focused on Binance’s BNB token failed to boost its stock above the exchange’s requirements.

In an SEC filing published Tuesday, Windtree confirmed trading of its stock on Nasdaq would be suspended at the open on Thursday, August 21, for failing to maintain the $1-per-share minimum bid price. Windtree shares are down 77% on the day to just $0.11.

Windtree listed its stock on Nasdaq in May 2020 but has repeatedly struggled to meet listing standards.

The exchange moved to suspend Windtree’s shares after several bid-price violations since at least June 2022, with its third and most recent deficiency warning handed down in December last year, according to a 2023  SEC filing listed by the drug developer.

Windtree and Nasdaq did not immediately return Decrypt’s request for comment.

Late last month, Windtree announced that it would commit and buy up to $700 million in Binance’s BNB token, just a day after that crypto hit a new all-time high.

While Windtree briefly regained its compliance earlier in March this year, it later lost course as a turbulent pullback in the crypto market began rolling over the past week.

Several publicly-listed treasury companies‘ shares have been diving or slowing in lockstep, including stock from KindlyMD, SharpLink, Coinbase, and Strategy, which hit a 4-month low on Wednesday amid a broader crypto stock slump.

As a result of the suspension, the company is moving to the over-the-counter market under the same ticker, WINT. Unlike Nasdaq, which imposes strict listing standards such as minimum bid prices and equity thresholds, OTC venues operate with looser requirements and typically provide less liquidity and visibility.

“Distressed firms face a structural mismatch with DAT models,” Ryan Yoon, senior analyst at Tiger Research, told Decrypt. “While they may initially raise funds despite lacking credibility, subsequent capital raises become increasingly difficult as market skepticism grows.”

Digital asset treasuries rely on “premium-based funding, but struggling companies can’t sustain NAV premiums long-term,” Yoon said.

Net asset value, or NAV, is the total value of a company’s assets minus its liabilities, expressed on a per-share basis. It shows whether a company’s stock price is higher or lower than the value of its total assets, including those that aren’t from digital assets.

“This creates a reverse flywheel during market downturns: asset decline → forced liquidation → further decline,” Yoon explained.

For one, Yoon points to Michael Saylor’s Strategy as having a “powerful narrative in crypto markets” that has created “a template that struggling public companies attempt to replicate.”

Yet “unlike established DAT firms with operational frameworks,” financially struggling companies suddenly pivoting to become digital asset treasury firms “typically lack substance beyond the narrative itself,” Yoon said.
