5 Crypto ETF Charts We Thought You’d Like this Month

by admin September 11, 2025

Did you know, exchange-traded products are now the largest holders of bitcoin? In today’s Crypto for Advisors newsletter, Rony Abboud from Trackinsight and ETF Central breaks down current ETF trends.

Then, Joshua de Vos, research lead at CoinDesk answers investment questions about ETFs in “Ask an Expert.”

5 Crypto ETF Charts We Thought You’d Like this Month

Crypto has officially entered the ETF mainstream, and the numbers tell the story.

ETPs Hold the Bitcoin Crown

In case you missed it, crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) have become the biggest holders of bitcoin, now sitting on 1.47 million coins — about 7% of the total 21 million supply, according to data compiled by Hold15Capital on X.

Public companies come next with just over 1 million, followed by governments holding around 526,000, according to bitcointreasuries.net

Looking closer, BlackRock’s iShares IBIT exchange-traded fund (ETF) leads the pack with 749,000 coins, while Fidelity’s FBTC holds 201,000 and Grayscale’s GBTC sits at 185,000. That share of supply is likely to keep climbing as more investors, especially institutions, jump in under a friendlier U.S. crypto administration.

Crypto Moves Into the ETF Mainstream

Cryptocurrency has become a key topic in the Trackinsight Global ETF Survey.

This year’s edition gathered insights from more than 600 professional investors overseeing over $1 trillion in ETF assets. They shared their views across active, thematic, ESG, fixed income and crypto segments.

When asked about their appetite for crypto ETFs in 2025, more than half said they plan to increase allocations in client portfolios.

Crypto ETFs Break Into the Big Leagues

Cryptocurrency ETFs in the U.S. ranked 8th in net inflows over the past year, according to ETF Central’s ETF segments dashboard — another sign of how powerful this asset class has become since gaining access through the ETF wrapper. The results of the Trackinsight survey reflect that shift, showing how professional investors who were once hesitant are now increasingly open to crypto.

Solana and XRP ETFs Edge Closer to the Spotlight

With bitcoin and ether ETFs already established, solana and XRP are lining up for their own spot debut. Optimism is high, but the SEC has yet to approve any filings. Still, with the legal cloud around Ripple lifted and a more crypto-friendly regulatory environment in Washington, the odds of launch are looking better than ever.

In the meantime, investors have been riding the momentum through U.S. futures-based solana and XRP ETFs. North of the border, Canada has already pulled ahead with spot launches, while Europe continues to lead the charge with ETPs covering nearly every major cryptocurrency — including solana and XRP.

Since 2024, XRP and solana ETPs have attracted $2.02 billion and $1.35 billion in net inflows globally, with momentum picking up after the first related U.S. spot ETF filings.

The Big Race: Gold vs. Crypto

The visual highlights a key trend in modern finance: the battle for a place in investor portfolios.

Gold, the perennial store of value, maintains its lead with ETPs nearing $400 billion in assets, as it remains a critical hedge against inflation and geopolitical turmoil.

Yet, the explosive growth of crypto ETPs, which have raced past $200 billion, signals a new era.

This isn’t a zero-sum game; instead, the chart suggests that in an uncertain world, investors are turning to both assets to provide different forms of protection and growth.

Ask an Expert

Q: What happened with global crypto ETF/ETP flows in August?

Ether-linked products attracted $4.27 billion, the strongest monthly intake this year and ~88% of August’s net inflows, driven primarily by US-listed funds.

Bitcoin products saw $169.1 million in net outflows at the category level, despite issuer-level dispersion. Solana and XRP products recorded inflows of $383.4 million and $279.7 million, respectively, signalling selective diversification beyond BTC and ETH.

Flows by geography:

  • Americas: $4.92 billion in net inflows, continuing to anchor global allocations and trading.
  • Europe: $108 million in net outflows, reflecting softer demand across several markets.
  • APAC: $70.4 million in net inflows, with incremental gains led by Hong Kong and Australia.

Q: How has the U.S. positioned itself since the debut of listed crypto ETFs and ETPs?

Since bitcoin ETFs became available in January 2024, U.S.-listed products have become the core venue for regulated digital-asset exposure, with USD-denominated vehicles ~94% of global activity.

For investors, this scale and consistency of participation underscores the United States’ role as the primary market for price discovery and capital formation in crypto.

Q: What policy developments have continued to firm the US operating backdrop for crypto ETFs?

  • The SEC’s move to permit in-kind creations/redemptions for spot bitcoin and ether products supports more efficient primary-market operations and tighter spreads.
  • Major exchanges have also proposed generic listing standards for commodity-based ETPs (including digital-asset commodities), which, if adopted, would streamline future product approvals.
  • In parallel, the Commission extended review periods on select single-asset proposals (including Solana), clustering several high-profile decisions into October.

Together, these steps reinforce structural clarity as the market matures.

This cloud storage doesn’t hand over your data to AI – and costs less than a coffee a month

by admin September 10, 2025

Keeping your files and photos safe is more important than ever, but secure storage can be expensive. So, we’ve found this fantastic deal by Proton Drive for a huge 50% discount on their storage plan – helping you backup photos, videos, and files for less.

Although this deal comes just in time for the new school year, it’s not only students who could benefit from this offer. If you have precious family photos or important documents like medical or financial information worth securing, then this plan offers end-to-end encryption to keep them private.

For a 1 year plan, Proton Drive has lowered the price from $47.88 ($4.99 per month) to just $28.88 (or $2.49 per month) -which is a lot less than most of the best cloud storage providers.

But, this offer is only available until the 24th of September, so make sure you take a look while you can.

Top end-of-summer cloud storage deal

Why do I recommend Proton Drive?

Why you can trust TechRadar

We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test.

Proton is an excellent choice for the privacy conscious among us. Proton Drive has a host of features that big tech companies don’t offer, and it doesn’t use your data to train and AI models.

Proton argues users shouldn’t have to hand over their personal data just to use the internet, and to uphold this, it prevents the use of your data for targeted ads, as well as stopping companies from selling your data – something many of the best cloud storage providers can’t promise.

Proton drive is based in Switzerland, a country with one of the strongest privacy laws in the world – and thanks to the end-to-end encryption, even Proton can’t access your data.

You can upload files of any type or size, and Drive Plus plans include recovery for overwritten or altered files going back up to ten years – so you never have to worry about losing your files again.

The plan comes with 200GB of storage, as well as all the basic Proton VPN, Proton Mail, and Proton Calendar, as well as online document editor and the 10-year file version history for recovery.

If all of this isn’t enough, it has a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if you find it isn’t your style, you can switch it out for a free cloud storage option or a paid alternative.

The first TVs with Gemini built in arrive later this month

by admin September 4, 2025

TCL has announced the QM9K, its latest flagship QD mini LED television series. The QM9Ks will be the first panels in the industry to feature Gemini on Google TV, a new feature that we first learned about at the start of this year.

Using the standard “Hey Google” voice prompt, viewers will be able to find a movie or TV show, ask questions using natural language about any topic and even control smart home products that are synced through Google Home. Google TV on the QM9K also supports the creation of custom AI screensavers based on descriptions or prompts provided by users.

The TVs will feature an mmWave sensor — a form of radar used to detect if a person is in front of the panel — that will wake the devices, allowing users to engage with Gemini completely hands-free. Users will have the option of customizing distance settings and hours of operation for the wake sensor.

Aside from breaking new ground in software, the QM9K series features a “Zero Border” edge-to-edge WHVA panel, which promises excellent color accuracy and a bezel-less design. The TVs have up to 6,000 precise dimming zones for deep contrast — up to 57 percent more than on the QM8K, the other contenders in TCL’s “Ultimate Series.” The QM9K is set to deliver up to 6,500 nits of peak brightness in HDR, a 30 percent increase over its predecessor. The panels run from 65″ to 98″, and audio by Bang & Olufsen rounds out the premium sets.

The TCL QM9K will be available at Best Buy and select regional retailers later this month.

Marvel Rivals Is Coming To Your Old, Dying PS4 Later This Month

by admin September 4, 2025

Marvel Rivals is launching soon on a new platform. No, the popular superhero online PVP shooter isn’t coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Instead, NetEase has quietly announced that Rivals is getting a PS4 port. I can already imagine how loud an old PS4 will sound when Doctor Strange creates a portal.

On September 3, NetEase released a new trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Marvel Rivals, “Heart of the Dragon.” The new season arrives on September 12 and brings Daredevil to the game’s already large roster. However, at the very end of this slick, action-packed story trailer, NetEase included a bit of news. Seen briefly in the final moments of the trailer is the logo for the PlayStation 4. It seems the online superhero game is getting a last-gen port.

Word of this PS4 port first appeared earlier this week, with dataminers finding evidence on the PlayStation Store’s back end of a new PS4 version of Marvel Rivals. Today’s new teaser seems to confirm that, yes, NetEase is porting its blockbuster superhero game to the aging PS4. Sony’s old home console launched back in November 2013, nearly 12 years ago. And yet, Marvel Rivals will soon be playable on the old hardware. Some fans are confused as to why Rivals is making the backward leap to PS4 while it still lacks a Switch 2 port. It would seem logical that if Rivals can run on PS4, it can likely run on a Switch 2. Perhaps a lack of dev kits is to blame?

Regardless of all that, it is extremely wild to me that Marvel Rivals is launching on PS4 in 2025. This is a console that launched during the tail end of the first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is a machine that arrived when Barack Obama was still president of the United States. And soon you’ll be able to play Marvel Rivals on it. Sure, it’s not the first time we’ve seen a current-gen game go backwards with a PS4 port. But it is still odd.

September is absolutely stacked with city builders: here’s 8 releasing this month

by admin September 4, 2025

Attention all mayors! There’s a heck of a lot of city builders headed our way, and as luck would have it, a whopping eight of them are coming in September alone. In fact, there are two you can play right now (one is just a demo, but it’s a demo you’re gonna want to check out) and the month is only a couple of days old.

Plus, all these September city builders represent a nice mix of themes: there are a couple sci-fi builders, a couple more that take place in the past, and a few more set in fantasy realms. There’s a cozy game, a couple puzzlers, and one with lots of combat, if that’s what you’re looking for. And if September doesn’t have enough for you, I’ve tacked on a few more promising city builders planned for late 2025 and 2026.

Since these city builders sprawl across multiple genres, I’ve got a code I’ll use below to identify what categories each these builders fit into: Sim ⚙️, Strategy ♟️, Survival 🍖, Puzzle 🧩, Cozy 🧸, Old Timey 👑, and Futuristic 🚀. If there’s a demo available, I’ve also added a 📀.

No Word on X From Shytoshi Kusama for Month But SHIB Army Unfazed

by admin September 3, 2025

  • SHIB’s exec defends Kusama from SHIB haters
  • 3 out of 10 largest SHIB wallets revealed

The mysterious Shiba Inu lead known under the pseudonym Shytoshi Kusama has published zero posts on his official X account.

The last post came out on August 5, and it was dedicated to SHIB’s anniversary and elections designed to bring “full decentralization” to the Shiba Inu network. However, even though Kusama remains silent, the community does not seem to be worried about it. That’s probably because Kusama had already disappeared a few times earlier this year from public space, as he was busy working on Shibarium. But haters and fudders continue to attack both the SHIB team and Kusama in person.

SHIB’s top executive, known as Lucie, has weighed in to defend Kusama.

LEASH holders will soon receive new tokens in exchange for old ones. While announcing it, Lucie lambasted fudders and haters who have been attacking the SHIB team to promote their own tokens running on Shibarium.

Lucie stated that they may continue to attack her or Shytoshi Kusama but she will not allow them to “scam and damage more investors.”

“All these delistings, hacks, and scams you are responsible for will eventually be discovered,” Lucie added.

I don’t care when you attack me, Shytoshi, or the team but I won’t let you scam and damage more investors.

3 out of 10 largest SHIB wallets revealed

Addressing the SHIB army in another tweet, Lucie also spoke about the largest holders of Shiba Inu tokens – exchanges and retail holders, and their geolocation.

According to Lucie, among the biggest SHIB holders are crypto exchanges – Binance, Robinhood, and Crypto.com. They “hold tens of trillions of SHIB on behalf of millions of users.”

SHIB = Exchanges + People

•Exchanges: Major wallets like Robinhood, Binance, https://t.co/cHdxcXPUYV, and others hold tens of trillions of SHIB on behalf of millions of users. These exchange wallets make up several of the top-10 holders.

•People: Over 1.5 million individual…

— 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐄 (@LucieSHIB) September 3, 2025

As for retail holders, the majority of roughly 1.5 million individual SHIB wallets on Ethereum are based in the USA, Turkey, India, East Asia, as well as Europe/Latin America/Africa/Southeast Asia.

The Crew is set to spring back to life as fan-made server emulator project prepares to launch later this month

by admin September 3, 2025

The Crew, the Ubisoft street racing game that met an unfortunate end in 2024, may live again. The Crew Unlimited, a fan-made effort to revive the game through a “custom server emulator,” says the work is just about complete and will be ready to launch on September 15.

The server emulator is now “feature complete,” according to a message on the newly launched Crew Unlimited website (via RPS) states. “All that is left to do is to thoroughly test and validate the software, then prepare the release.”

“A lot of our time and effort has been put into the project, and it’s finally coming to fruition,” project lead whammy4 wrote. “We are as excited as you are. Thank you all for your patience, understanding and support.”

Related articles

The project is a reaction to Ubisoft’s 2024 decision to close The Crew’s servers, rendering the game unplayable as of April 1, 2024. Making matters worse, Ubisoft began revoking game licenses shortly after the servers went offline, a big step beyond simply delisting a game that seemed intended to make double-extra-sure that nobody would be able to play the game again in the future. The Crew Unlimited project member ChemicalFlood said at the time that the team was “deeply saddened by Ubisoft’s choice to start revoking licences to this game when people have paid hard-earned cash for it,” but added that the project would be able to bypass that restriction without having to modify any game files, “so the project is still on track.”

The Crew Unlimited will be available for download from the TCU website, but The Crew itself will not: You’ll need to own the game if you want to play, although the dev team noted in an FAQ that “as long as you manage to run the game files, we have absolutely no way to tell a legit copy from a non-legit one, so we just have to let you in.”

The emulator will currently only work with PC versions of the game, but the TCU team says it might be possible to implement console support in the future. Mod support will be wide open in offline modes, but only cosmetic mods will be allowed when playing online.

The bigger question hanging over all of this is how Ubisoft will respond. Projects like these tend to attract the attention of lawyers, typically followed by cease-and-desist letters, but The Crew Unlimited is in something of a unique position: Ubisoft has taken a brutal ass-beating for its handling of The Crew’s shutdown, including a lawsuit and a European Citizen’s Initiative petition that attracted more than one million signatures. The backlash was strong enough that Ubisoft promised not to do it again with The Crew 2 and Motorfest, and dropping the hammer on a project like this would almost certainly stoke those fires all over again. That’s about the last thing Ubisoft needs right now.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

It’s possible that a deal has been worked out: In the “Special Thanks” section of its website, The Crew Unlimited team throws a credit to Ubisoft, “for letting this game happen.” I’ve reached out to the team to ask about the possibility of a Ubisoft-mandated C&D and will update if I receive a reply.

Kojima Productions to celebrate 10th anniversary this month with “glimpse into future projects”

by admin September 1, 2025

Kojima Productions has announced a 10th anniversary celebration to be held in Japan, which promises guest appearances and “a glimpse into future projects”.

The studio unveiled the event today, on the 10th anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which doesn’t seem coincidental.

The Kojima Productions Beyond The Strand event will take place on 23rd September at a cinema in Tokyo, but it doesn’t appear to be screened elsewhere. Hideo Kojima himself will host the event.

12 Things You NEED To Do First In Death Stranding 2 – BEGINNERS TIPSWatch on YouTube

Still, keep that date in your diaries if you’re interested to know what’s coming next from the studio.

Perhaps we’ll see something on OD, Kojima’s Xbox horror game first announced back in 2023? In a recent interview, Kojima stated OD was “something totally different” and people will either “love it or hate it”.

Or perhaps we’ll see a first look at Physint, Kojima’s return to the action-espionage genre he popularised with the Metal Gear Solid games. Then again, he recently stated it’s early enough in development he’s still working on it by himself.

Just don’t expect Death Stranding 3 – Kojima confirmed he has a concept for a sequel, but won’t be making it himself.

If you’re in Japan, you can find details of the anniversary event on the Kojima Productions website.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.

Today in video games – 1st September: a new month begins and Silksong approaches

by admin September 1, 2025

September is here so we’re also here with another daily report, collating all of today’s gaming news and events in one place.

As September arrives, the fabled release of Hollow Knight sequel Silksong approaches. The game we seem to have been waiting an eternity for releases this week. Will it have been worth the wait?

September also marks the beginning of an uptick in big releases as the holiday shopping season approaches – I can’t believe I’m alluding to Christmas already – and today we see the review-results of one of them: eerie action adventure Hell is Us. It was a mixed bag for Ed.

Onwards!

Atomfall’s second expansion, The Red Strain, unleashes its crimson tendrils next month

by admin August 31, 2025

Dig your finest cricket bat out of the loft – Atomfall developers Rebellion have revealed its second story expansion is set to arrive in September. It’s dubbed The Red Strain, and looks to star a not-Robobrain who’s connected to a bunch of crimson plantlife filling the Cumberland quarantine zone.

This second DLC follows Wicked Isle, the first Atomfall expansion that you got automatically if you plumped for the deluxe edition of the radioactive pasty survivathon. I still need to go back and play that expansion, and this next add-on looks like an intriguing excuse to do so.

As announced by Rebellion’s fittingly brief blog post and trailer, The Red Strain will be released on September 16th. There’s precious little further info about it at the moment, but the devs have whispered that we can “expect a highly confidential new location and plenty more mysteries to uncover”.

As for the trailer, which you can watch below, it shows off what looks to be a plague of red plants linked to a human-brained robot that’s part of an organisation going by the acronym CORE. One would assume they’re different to, or possibly an offshoot of, the base game’s British Atomic Research Division (BARD). One thing’s for sure, we can expect more rooting through old facilities full of malfunctioning doodads and god knows what else. There’ll be more details forthcoming as the cerise exertion nears, or so Rebellion promise.

Watch on YouTube

Our James liked Atomfall, writing in his review:

It’s a shame that next to the investigating, Atomfall’s shooting, sneaking, and cricket batting don’t deliver the same joys. Still, they’re competent enough not to get in the way, and with a little finesse it’s possible to enjoy extended bouts of that rich, intricate sleuthing without doing a single violence at all. Don’t let those village pub bores get you down: there are far worse places for a forgetful soldier-detective to be.

I’d generally agree with all of that, even if I was maybe a bit more downbeat in my review of it for my old home, mainly because I felt its endings were a bit too on the muted side to be truly satsifying conclusions to all of the great intrigue built up as you wander the hostile sectors of the zone. To me, that robbed Atomfall of totally nailing the ideal short-but-deep experience Rebellion were going for, but it’s all a matter of perspective. Those more into Atomfall’s British sci-fi inspirations than they are keyed up by Fallout to expect more in-your-face radioactive wackiness might find these conclusions perfectly fine.

Either way, I definitely need to give Wicked Isle a go, so am making a point of sliding the game up the great backlog list. I’ve tattoed said list across my inner thigh, so that every time I have impure throughts, I’m reminded that I bought The Saboteur in a Steam sale ages ago and still have zero hours in it.
