Netflix’s Splinter Cell animated series arrives next month, but there’s no sign of a new game

by admin September 18, 2025

Netflix has released a full trailer for its forthcoming Splinter Cell animated series, ahead of its release next month.

From Derek Kolstad, writer of the John Wick franchise, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch will of course follow series protagonist Sam Fisher – here looking a little older and more grizzled, though still with his iconic night-vision goggles.

Liev Schreiber (who’s been in a tonne of films, from Scream to X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Isle of Dogs) provides the voice of Fisher, and the whole thing has been produced by Ubisoft Film & Television.

The series will be available from 14th October and also stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Killing Eve, The Sandman) as new Splinter Cell agent Zinnia McKenna.

News of a Splinter Cell animated series came back in 2020, so this series has been a long time coming. A separate Splinter Cell film was cancelled last year as the production team “just couldn’t get it right”.

October is a busy month for Netflix video game adaptations, as the fourth season of The Witcher also arrives on 30th October. It now stars Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, instead of Henry Cavill. Check out a trailer below to see him in action.

As for new Splinter Cell games, Ubisoft announced a remake of the first game in the series back in 2021, but we’ve heard nothing since.

Little Nightmares 3 has a pint-sized bad dream demo out now, ahead of its arrival next month

by admin September 17, 2025

Supermassive Games have put out a demo for Little Nightmares 3, so you can give the spooky co-op puzzler a whirl before it arrives in October. “Step into the Necropolis”, the studio say. Go on then, that sounds like it has zero potential to end badly.

As our Nic conveyed earlier this year, Little Nightmares 3’s coming out October 10th. That date was unaffected by Supermassive laying off up to 36 people and delaying interstellar horror Directive 8020 in July.

Watch on YouTube

As you can see above, the demo’s come with a quick trailer heavy on sinister humming. The two titchy protagonists Low and Alone wind levers, climb through flaps, and otherwise platform. Oh no, this platforming has attracted the attention of a giant baby monster with grubby fingers that can reach for the duo like they’re the last Bourbon cream in the cupboard (other biscuits are available). Its gaze can also turn them to stone, which is a power alll babies have, they just hide it very well.

As in the full game, you and a mate can wield the bow and wrench of Little Nightmares 3’s pair, or you can play alone with an AI companion. Maybe give them the bow, I bet their aim’s pretty good. 30 minutes of small nightmaring await you either way.

If you’ve not given the Little Nightmares series a go before, here are a couple of extracts from former RPSers Adam and Alice B about the first and second games in the series respectively:

It’s a grotesque, horrid and eventually hopeful in its own morbid fashion, and despite many moments that feel like reimaginings or echoes from elsewhere, it has enough extraordinary images and sequences to stand alone. It’s precisely the kind of horror game I love – grotesque but not gross, and interested in thoughtful pacing and escalation rather than jumpscares and shocks. Also, linear though it is, there are some collectibles I’d like to hunt for and the whole game is short enough that I’ll happily play it again, or watch someone else playing.
These flaws are small enough that I’m happy to place Little Nightmares II up on my shelf of excellence right next to the first one. Childhood fears are such a rich vein to slice open, and Tarsier Studios do it in a very thoughtful way. Little Nightmares II is such a splendid mix of cute and creepy, beautiful and awful, that it sort of defies categorisation. A childhood terror gothic, perhaps?

You can find Little Nightmares 3’s demo on its Steam page.

Ethereum Aggressive Buying Spree From Bitmine – Here’s How Much They’ve Bought This Month

by admin September 15, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The broader cryptocurrency market has sprung back to life again, with Ethereum rising back above the $4,600 price mark after a renewed bullish move. Within the period of bullish action, Bitmine Immersion has gone on a significant buying spree, acquiring thousands of ETH in the month of September alone.

Bitmine’s Unstoppable Ethereum Buying Spree

Ethereum’s price is experiencing a newfound upward strength as the leading altcoin draws dangerously closer to the $4,700 level. While ETH is gaining bullish traction, Bitmine Immersion Technology Inc., a leading treasury company, is doubling down on the asset with its steady, significant purchases.

In a post from Crypto Patel on the social media platform X, the expert revealed that the treasury company has been buying ETH at a massive scale this month alone. The company’s frequent and substantial ETH acquisitions demonstrate its robust belief in the asset’s potential for long-term growth.

Even as market fluctuations continue to test investor confidence, Bitmine appears to be unshaken by the previous price swings. This substantial acquisition fuels the argument that ETH’s place in the future of smart contracts and decentralized finance is still far from fully priced in.

Bitmine heavily buying ETH | Source: Chart from Crypto Patel on X

Data shared by Crypto Patel shows that the company has scooped up over 276,800 ETH in just 14 days, valued at roughly $1.3 billion. It is worth noting that this 276,800 ETH was acquired in just 2 weeks, particularly on September 7 and 14. In the first week of this month, Bitmine accumulated 74,300 ETH, while the second week saw 202,500 ETH.

Such a massive purchase reinforces Bitmine’s leading role in ETH treasury strategy and strengthens its position in the general crypto landscape. Considered an aggressive accumulation by any standard, Crypto Patel stated that the buying spree is a strong signal of institutional conviction in ETH’s long-term value.

Large Investors Are Sharply Scooping Up ETH

During this renewed bullish action, ETH‘s largest investors are making their presence felt once again in the market. Crypto Patel has outlined a growing positive sentiment among these large investors, also known as whales, as they continued to accumulate the asset.

According to Crypto Patel, big money players on Ethereum are stacking more than ever before. On-chain data shows that Ethereum whales holding between 10,000 ETH and 100,000 ETH have just climbed to a new all-time high. Presently, a significant portion of the supply is controlled by these wallets, indicating increasing accumulation.

In addition to indicating a notable growing pattern of accumulation, this recent spike in whale balances also suggests a strong belief in the altcoin’s prospects. Crypto Patel noted that whale confidence at this scale typically precedes large market moves. As large investors double down on the altcoin, the expert stated that strong on-chain support is forming.

‘Trick ‘r Treat’ is Coming Back to Theaters Next Month

by admin September 15, 2025

After finally hitting the big screen for everyone for the first time a few years ago, Trick r’ Treat will be back in theaters October 14 and 16.

According to a press release from Fathom Entertainment, the horror flick will get a 4K restoration and a little bonus in the form of a 4K restoration for director Mike Dougherty’s Season’s Greetings short. The 1996 video is an origin for the final film and will be part of a look back by Dougherty through several Halloween-specific memories that led to the creation of the film’s rule-breaking trick-or-treater, Sam.

“Horror fans have long been thirsting for Trick ‘r Treat to take its rightful place back on the big screen and in cinemas nationwide,” said Fathom’s Tom Lucas. “We’re thrilled to bring this classic horror film back in theaters in sparkling 4K with our partners just in time for Halloween. A stellar cast helps make Trick ‘r Treat a frightening cinematic experience fans will not want to miss!”

First shown at film festivals in 2007, Trick ‘r Treat has been a cult classic since it hit DVDs back in 2009. Its generally positive reception has led to some rumblings of Dougherty by a sequel, but the Hollywood strikes and his work on the Monsterverse movies have made progress on it slow. Until that day comes, rewatching the original is still a fine spooky season tradition—especially on the big screen.

Here’s What History Says Will Happen a Month and Year After the Fed’s Rate Cut

by admin September 15, 2025

In brief

  • The odds of the U.S. Federal Reserve announcing a quarter-point rate cut have skyrocketed to 94.2%, according to the CME’s FedWatch tool.
  • Experts look to Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech and forward guidance to determine if Bitcoin rallies or triggers a sell-the-news reaction.
  • Bitcoin’s long-term outlook remains bullish, with experts forecasting up to $700,000 before 2035.

Cryptocurrency and tradfi investors are on tenterhooks ahead of this week’s rate cut decision from the U.S. Federal Reserve, which experts say could make or break the long-term bullish trend for risk-on assets such as Bitcoin.

The September 17 interest rate decision is key since it comes at a time when the S&P 500 index, Bitcoin, and gold are at or near all-time highs. The central banks’ dual mandate of price stability and maximum employment is conflicting with core inflation above 3.10% and a weakening labor market, with annual revisions revealing a drop of 911,000 from the initial estimate.

The odds of a 25 basis point rate cut currently hover around 94% per CME’s FedWatch tool. Users of prediction market Myriad, launched by Decrypt’s parent company DASTAN, place an 88% chance on a 25bps rate cut, at time of publication.

Short-term vs long-term impacts

Experts who spoke to Decrypt agreed that a quarter-point rate cut would likely have a long-term bullish impact on risk-on assets, including Bitcoin, but remained indecisive on the event’s imminent impact.

In the short-term, “What Powell says at the briefing will matter more for how the market reacts,” Peter Chung, head of research at Presto Research, told Decrypt.

Other analysts drew attention to the dot plot, a quarterly chart indicating Fed policymakers’ projections for the short-term interest rate. A rate cut without a meaningful downward revision of the median dot plot could trigger an altcoin pullback due to elevated open interest, Xu Han, director of Liquid Fund at HashKey Capital, told Decrypt. If the dot plot faces an aggressive downward revision, he expects a rally in large and mid-cap altcoins.

The markets anticipating a quarter-point rate cut have led to a resurgence in speculative activity, leading to “stretched valuations across multiple asset classes,” Derek Lim, head of research at crypto market-making and trading firm Caladan, cautioned Decrypt.

From a short-term perspective, a hawkish surprise from Powell could complicate the Fed’s price stability mandate, Lim added.

Bitcoin’s long-term valuation

While Bitcoin’s one-month returns post rate cut highlight the crypto’s unpredictable nature, Caladan’s three-month estimates reveal a bullish outcome 62% of the time with an average gain of 16.50%.

HashKey Capital estimates Bitcoin will hit $700,000 by the end of 2035, assuming a 10% CAGR in the gold price, pointing to a macro narrative that sees the top crypto playing catch-up with gold in the coming decade.

Capital markets commentary The Kobeissi Letter highlighted risk-on assets’ bullish outlook in the long term, stating that the S&P 500 index has ended up higher a year later when the Fed cuts rates within 2% of the index’s all-time highs, in a Saturday tweet.

“This time around, we expect a similar outcome,” the tweet thread noted, indicating a potential for “immediate-term volatility, but long-term asset owners will party,” supported by interest rate cuts amid rising inflation and the AI Revolution.

The straight-line higher price action seen in gold and Bitcoin reflects the markets pricing in what’s coming, The Kobeissi Letter argued.

While Chung and Han expect at least three quarter-point rate cuts before the end of the year, Lim said a “second 25 basis point cut remains possible, but would require either a material deterioration in labor markets or convincing evidence that inflation is sustainably converging to 2%.”

Bitcoin is down 0.8% over the past 24 hours and is currently trading at just under $115,000, per CoinGecko data.

Hades II Launches Into 1.0 On Switch 2, Switch, And PC This Month

by admin September 14, 2025

Supergiant Games has announced that Hades II is launching into 1.0 on Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. This 1.0 launch comes after the game’s year-long Early Access period on PC (and after the game graced the cover of Game Informer in May of last year).

Supergiant announced this news with a gorgeous animated trailer showing protagonist Melinoë fighting various Greek gods and enemies of the underworld, and it ends with the September 25 digital release date on Switch 2, Switch, and PC. If you want to pick up a physical version of the game, you’ll need to wait until November.

Dogecoin and BNB Rise as Bitcoin, Ethereum Hit Highest Prices This Month

by admin September 12, 2025

In brief

  • Major altcoins like Dogecoin and Solana surged on Friday, with BNB hitting a new all-time high price.
  • Their gains came off the back of Bitcoin and Ethereum price jumps, with both at their highest points this month.
  • Investors are feeling good about the Fed cutting interest rates next week—which could benefit crypto markets.

Crypto markets jumped Friday afternoon New York time, with BNB hitting a new all-time high and other major altcoins posting sizable gains as Bitcoin and Ethereum reached their highest respective marks so far in September.

BNB—the sixth-biggest digital coin by market cap—touched a new high above $926, where it currently sits, CoinGecko data shows. It’s up 3% over the last day.

BNB, an asset launched by Binance, the world’s biggest crypto exchange, has jumped by nearly 9% over a seven-day period. It’s up 70% over the last year and has repeatedly set all-time highs in 2025, as BNB only breached the $800 mark for the first time this year.

Elsewhere, Dogecoin has soared and was recently trading for over $0.27 after a more than 8% jump on the day. DOGE has jumped by 25% over the last week, despite missing out on some of the major gains seen by Bitcoin and Ethereum in recent months.

The original meme coin is currently the biggest winner over the past day despite the first DOGE ETF to launch in the U.S., Rex-Osprey’s Doge ETF, being halted for trading until next week.

Its rise comes as other alts have boomed in price. Solana, the fifth-largest coin, hit its highest price since January on Friday afternoon New York time. It was recently priced at $240 after having jumped by 6% in the last day.

Altcoin markets surged off of Bitcoin and Ethereum gains. The two biggest cryptocurrencies were recently trading for $116,331 and $4,675, respectively, as U.S. investors pile into ETFs giving exposure to the coins.

Bitcoin on Friday hit its highest price in a month following a stellar week for spot ETFs. The American funds have seen positive inflows all week ahead of Friday, while Ethereum ETFs have seen positive flows the last three days. Ethereum also hit its highest mark so far in September on Friday.

Investor interest in digital assets climbed after data this week showed inflation in the U.S. had cooled, increasing the chances that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates next week, experts told Decrypt. Bitcoin and other digital assets have generally done well in a low interest rate environment.

Meanwhile, digital assets exchange Gemini started trading on the Nasdaq at an approximately $4.4 billion valuation on Friday. It’s the latest crypto company to go public this year after roaring debuts on stock exchanges by stablecoin giant Circle, crypto exchange Bullish, and brokerage platform eToro.

Gemini’s stock opened at $37.01 per share, a 32% increase compared to its upped IPO price of $28. GEMI finished the trading day at a price of $32 per share.

‘Hades II’ Is Coming to Nintendo Switch This Month

by admin September 12, 2025

Nintendo’s Switch and Switch 2 release calendars are bulking up. During a packed Nintendo Direct livestream on Friday, the company announced on-sale dates for several games as well as the return of the Virtual Boy, the proto VR headset Nintendo originally launched in the mid-1990s.

One of the biggest of Friday’s announcements was that of the release date for the sequel to Supergiant’s wildly popular Hades. Hades II will hit Switch, Switch 2, and PC on September 25. The long-awaited new Metroid game, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, will also finally launch December 4 for Switch and Switch 2.

The news comes ahead of the upcoming holiday season, which will be the Switch 2’s first since its launch this summer.

While Hades II has been available on PC as an early access game—an unfinished version players can test out and give feedback on—since last year, the version coming to Switch at the end of the month will be the full “1.0” launch game. Players who already own the game on Steam will be able to update theirs for free. The game stars Melinoë, sister to the original game’s hero Zagreus, on her quest to kill the Titan of Time, Chronos.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond sees the return of Samus running and gunning against alien foes. Along with a firm release date, the trailer shown Friday debuted a new tool for the heroine: Vi-O-La, a techy motorbike Samus can use alongside her psychic abilities.

Nintendo is also expanding some of its games with downloadable content. New DLC for Donkey Kong Banaza, which launched July 17, is now available for $20. The pack, called DK Island & Emerald Rush, adds extra missions and levels to explore (and presumably punch). Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is launching October 16, will do so alongside a Mega Dimension DLC that adds additional Mega Evolutions.

Nintendo also teased several 2026 releases, including a surprise announcement for a new Pokémon game, Pokémon Pokopia. As a human-shaped Ditto (as horrifying as that sounds), players befriend other pokémon, build homes, and collect food to create a tiny paradise. It launches for Switch 2 next year.

Additionally, a new entry in the turn-based tactical series Fire Emblem, called Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, is headed to Switch 2 in 2026. A trailer shown today teases its heroes in an arena-style battle; a familiar face at the end of the trailer suggests the game is set after 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses. A new Resident Evil game, Resident Evil Requiem, will also be released for Switch 2 on February 27.

September becomes an even more ridiculous month for releases as Hades 2 announces it’s dropping in 2 weeks

by admin September 12, 2025

Hades II – v1.0 Launch Trailer (Coming Sep. 25!) – YouTube

Watch On

In an event for something called the ‘Nintendo Switch,’ the well-coiffed businessmen took a break from hollering about Mario to drop a sly reveal: Hades 2’s full release date. It’s well, imminent: Hades 2 hits 1.0 this September 25, or 13 days from now. It’ll hit Switch at the same time, should you want to play it there.

You might actually want to, by the way, because one of the bells and whistles Supergiant’s bringing to the game on the 25th is cross-saves. “In v1.0, Hades II offers cross saves between the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions and the version here on Steam. If you’ve been playing in early access and wish to continue the journey on Nintendo’s game consoles, you’ll be able to transfer your save data through a simple in-game menu,” quoth the announcement post.

If you’re staring slack-jawed at the headline, swearing up and down that Hades 2 was already out, I don’t blame you. The game’s been in early access for over a year now, and was already good enough that our Harvey Randall made it his personal GOTY pick for last year.

Related articles

So I have a sneaking suspicion the full release will probably be quite good, and no doubt we’ll be along with a review when the game goes full 1.0 to let you know in the hopefully unlikely event Supergiant somehow biffs it at the final hurdle.

I wonder if the devs are nervous—I feel like I can sense a little bit of that in the announce post. “Hades 2 is our team’s first-ever sequel, and we’ve been giving it everything we’ve got for more than four and a half years,” says Supergiant. “The result is the biggest game we’ve ever made, and one we hope you’ll find to be a worthy successor to its namesake.”

I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t. But we’ll find out for sure when the Hades 2 full release hits Steam on September 25. Is it just me, or is this September absolutely buckwild, release-wise?

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.
