PowerWash Simulator 2 launches later this month

PowerWash Simulator 2 will be launching on 23rd October, 2025. It’ll be coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2.

This was announced on the official PowerWash Simulator 2 X account, which posted a release date trailer. This not only introduces some of the grimey locations you’ll be cleaning up, but also the home base you’ll be hanging around in. This home base, obviously, has pet cats called Bubbles and Squeak.

The game is also coming to Game Pass, so for those who are still subscribed even with the recent price changes, you’ll be able to play it as part of your ongoing subscription.

We do know PowerWash Simulator 2 will be continuing the original games’ ridiculous and brilliant lore, which should give avid cleaners something more to delve into other than muck. Those interested in getting their hands dirty can wishlist the game now on Steam, or try out the demo first if they’re curious as to what the hype is all about.

In Eurogamer’s PowerWash Simulator 2 preview, Ed Nightingale wrote: “With that in mind, this refined sequel provides FuturLab the perfect platform to continue tweaking and experimenting with its cleaning sim – as long as the dirt doesn’t wear too thin. Perhaps we could even get some rug cleaning DLC to really get the ASMR tingles going – and monopolise my relaxation time for good.”

Silent Hill 2 remake reportedly coming to PS Plus later this month

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is reportedly heading to the PS Plus catalogue later this month, available for Extra and Premium subscribers.

That’s according to reliable insider billbil_kun of Dealabs, who reported Konami and Bloober Team’s remake will be added on 21st October.

Silent Hill 2 was released last October as a PS5 console exclusive, also available on PC. A trailer from last year added it would be available on “other formats” from 8th October 2025, exactly a year later.

As such, the game’s reported inclusion on PS Plus would give PlayStation a boost should those other formats be announced imminently.

It also continues momentum for the series, following the release last month of Silent Hill f developed by NeoBards Entertainment and published by Konami.

“Silent Hill f’s frustrating first-half is outweighed by a brilliant, delirious second that’s well worth the initial slog,” reads our Silent Hill f review.

Bloober, meanwhile, released Cronos: The New Dawn last month, its original sci-fi survival horror set in 1980’s Poland that’s also been well-received.

Last week, Bloober confirmed a remake of Silent Hill 1 is now in full production, and hasn’t ruled out a sequel to Cronos.

Sony already revealed the PS Plus games for October at its State of Play stream, which includes Alan Wake 2, Cocoon, and Goat Simulator 3. Silent Hill 2 would seemingly be a welcome surprise extra.

PayPal’s stablecoin PYUSD has broken out of its quiet launch phase. On Friday, Oct. 3, the stablecoin reached an all-time high in circulating supply at $2.54 billion. Over the past month, this figure rose 113%. At the same time:

A circulating supply of $2.54 billion puts PYUSD in seventh place among stablecoins, behind USDe, USDS, DAI, and USD1. Much of that supply, specifically $1.84 billion, is on Ethereum (ETH). At the same time, $624 million worth of PYUSD is on Solana (SOL).

PYUSD transfer volume peaked at $2 billion daily on Sept. 26, according to data from Token Terminal. So far, the stablecoin has facilitated almost $60 billion in total transfers. PYUSD has also reached a milestone of 40,000 holders, a figure that has risen consistently since January 2025.

Still, giants Tether and USDC continue to dominate the market, with $176 billion and $75.9 billion in circulating supply. Together, they account for almost 85% of all circulating supply. PYUSD itself accounts for 0.84% of the stablecoin market.

PYUSD stablecoin is taking off

At launch, many called the PYUSD stablecoin a “nothing burger”, citing its limited reach beyond the PayPal and Venmo ecosystem. Still, the firm has worked on decentralizing PYUSD, enabling users to send to external wallets and holding it non-custodially.

PYUSD’s all-time high coincided with the stablecoin market cap breaking the total value of $300 billion. U.S.-denominated stablecoins lead the charge, with USDC growing rapidly. What is more, the monthly stablecoin transfer volume reached $3.27 trillion.

Will Dogecoin price hit $1 if the SEC approves DOGE ETF this month?

Dogecoin price has bounced back in the past few days as investors bought the recent dip after it bottomed at a crucial support level in September.

Dogecoin (DOGE) rose to $0.2630, up 16% from its lowest level in September. This article explores whether it will jump to $1 if the Securities and Exchange Commission approves spot DOGE ETFs later this month.

Dogecoin price may rally ahead of spot ETF approval

DOGE price could be on the cusp of a strong bullish breakout as the Securities and Exchange Commission nears its decision on two exchange-traded funds by Grayscale and Bitwise.

Analysts, including Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas, expect that the agency will approve most of the applied ETFs. He cited the recently released generic standards list, which includes the details that it will look at during the approvals.

One of the criteria is the availability of a regulated futures product. Dogecoin futures already exist, raising the odds of an approval.

Also, the agency has already approved the spot DOGE ETF under the Investment Company Act of 1944. That fund, whose ticker is DOJE, was listed in September and has accumulated over $21 million in assets.

Its success suggests that the other funds could be more successful because they will likely have a lower expense ratio.

Dogecoin price will also benefit from the ongoing Uptober rally that has boosted other cryptocurrencies.

Will DOGE price hit $1?

The daily timeframe chart shows that the Dogecoin price bottomed at $0.2200 in September and then bounced back to $0.2631. Its lowest level coincided with the lower side of the ascending channel.

The coin has now moved above the 50-day and 100-day Exponential Moving Averages. Moving above these levels is a highly bullish sign as it means that bulls are gaining control.

Therefore, the most likely scenario is that the coin continues rising as bulls target the year-to-date high of $0.3088, which is about 20% above the current level.

For DOGE to reach $1, the price would need to rise by more than 250% from the current level. This surge will likely not happen, as it is in the process of forming a rising wedge pattern. A rising wedge is made up of two ascending and converging trendlines, with a breakdown happening when these lines near their confluence.

Game Pass Ultimate is still $20 a month if you buy pre-paid codes

Microsoft may have made the unfortunate decision to raise the price of a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to $30 a month, but you don’t have to live by the company’s rules — at least not yet. Most online retailers are still selling codes for prepaid Game Pass subscriptions at the original $20 a month price. That means you can pay $60 for three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, stack your codes and keep your subscription without having to downgrade or cancel.

As the highest tier in Game Pass, an Ultimate subscription gives you the ability to download and play a library of over 200 games on your PC or Xbox. With Xbox Cloud Gaming, you can also stream the majority of those games to other devices, too, whether it’s a smartphone, LG TV or in-car display. It’s worth noting, though, the benefits of Ultimate did change with the introduction of the higher price. Microsoft shared that Ultimate subscribers will now also receive the benefits of an Ubisoft+ subscription at no additional cost, a $16 a month value that unlocks access to a back catalog of Ubisoft games from franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. Starting in November, the new Ultimate subscription also includes access to Fortnite Crew, Epic’s $12 a month plan that gives you V-Bucks, battle passes and more in Fortnite.

While those new benefits might justify a higher price monetarily, whether that’s a convincing reason to stay subscribed is a separate question. This likely won’t be the last time Microsoft will raise the price of its subscription service. Avoiding those fees by buying pre-paid Game Pass codes seems like an excellent way to try out the new Ultimate before committing to cancelling your subscription, downgrading your plan or sticking with Microsoft’s new price. You can purchase three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $60 a month. Stacking four three-month codes should come out to around $240.

Malys, A Deckbuilder From The Stray Gods Team, Enters 1.0 Later This Month

Summerfall Studios (a developer founded in part by Dragon Age writer David Gaider) made its debut with Stray Gods, a musical game starring modern-day adaptations of the ancient Greek pantheon. Its next game, Malys, is a massive departure in both tone and gameplay. Earlier this April, Summerfall announced a Kickstarter for this new project, but unfortunately, it failed to reach its funding goal. However, the game still entered early access this past June, and now, just a few months later, it’s hitting 1.0, launching on Steam on October 24.

This deckbuilder tells the story of Noah, a demon hunter, on his quest to slay the Malys, an evil creature with the city in a chokehold. The game’s combat encounters are exorcisms, and you’ll play and burn cards in order to expose demons’ true names and expel them from their hosts. According to a blogpost on Summerfall’s website, the 1.0 update will also include “cloud saves, a fully playable story, all three regions and the final boss fight, as well as a full scale music update across the game.”

The blog post also mentions that the price will increase slightly at launch, so if you’re interested in grabbing it cheaper (it’s currently $9.99 in the US), make sure to do so before October 24.

Microsoft jacks the price of Game Pass Ultimate up to $30 a month

Microsoft has announced some major changes for Game Pass. It’s rebranding some of the tiers, which should make it a little easier to keep tabs on what games and features are available on Game Pass across Xbox consoles, PC and cloud gaming.

However, there is a painful price increase here. The high-end plan, Game Pass Ultimate, now costs $30 per month — 50 percent more than the previous $20 per month. and there’s no annual or quarterly option available to make that sting less.

That means the price of a Game Pass Ultimate membership has nearly doubled in 15 months. Microsoft previously raised the price from $17 to $20 in July 2024. The latest change now means that, at $360 per year, Game Pass Ultimate is now more than twice as expensive as PlayStation Plus Premium, which is currently $160 on an annual plan.

Microsoft recently announced a price increase for its Xbox Series X/S consoles as well. The systems will be more expensive to buy in the US starting this Friday. Also, pre-orders for the ROG Xbox Ally handheld just went live, with Microsoft confirming that the higher-end model would cost $1,000. PC Game Pass is going up from $12 per month to $16.50 too. It’s getting really expensive to be an Xbox fan, folks.

In fairness, along with a price increase, Microsoft is expanding Game Pass Ultimate in other ways. It’s adding more than 45 games to that tier today, including a whole bunch of Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry titles, as well as other Ubisoft games. That’s due, in large part, to Microsoft adding Ubisoft+ (which costs about $16 per month) to Game Pass Ultimate today.

On November 18, Ultimate members will get Fortnite Crew as part of their subscription. That gives players access to the Fortnite battle pass, 1,000 V-Bucks added to their account each month and other perks. That usually costs $12 per month, so the Game Pass Ultimate price increase might actually work out in some Fortnite players’ favor — if they ever stop playing it long enough to check out other games and get more value for their $30 per month.

Microsoft also notes that Ultimate subscribers will be able to play more than 75 day one games (i.e. those that join the service on their release day) every year across Xbox consoles, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. That works out to at least six per month, on average. The Ultimate library now includes more than 400 games, including titles from EA Play.

As part of these changes, Xbox Cloud Gaming is officially out of beta and Ultimate subscribers have access to what Microsoft claims is its highest-quality streaming option with the lowest wait times. They’ll be able to earn up to $100 worth of rewards per year by playing games too.

Microsoft can talk up the new Ultimate features as much as it likes, but there’s no denying that a 50 percent price increase is a heck of a jump. Of note, games news curator Wario64 pointed out that the Game Pass cancellation web page appears to be overloaded:

There are changes afoot on the other two main Game Pass tiers. Standard subscribers are moving over to Premium, and Game Pass Core members will be on an Essential plan. (Essential and Premium are the same names PlayStation uses for the base and high-end PS Plus plans, fact fans.) Those tiers aren’t getting price increases, as Premium will run you $15 per month and Essential is still $10.

Premium and Essential now include PC games. The Premium plan includes more than 200 games, all of which are playable on consoles and PC. Microsoft added more than 40 to the Premium library today, including Diablo IV and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.

The company said that Xbox-published games will hit the Premium tier within a year of their release, but not that doesn’t include Call of Duty titles. This tier includes in-game perks for the likes of League of Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege X, as well as the option to stream some games you own via the cloud and the ability to earn up to $50 per year in rewards.

As with the other two tiers, the Essential plan now includes “unlimited cloud gaming” (though perhaps with longer wait times), online multiplayer access and in-game perks for certain titles. It has a library of 50-plus games and the ability to earn up to $25 in annual rewards through playing games.

Pax Dei, the medieval EVE Online-esque MMO, gets its 1.0 release next month

What if EVE Online was a bit less sci-fi, and a lot more medieval? You would, in theory, get Pax Dei, a game that first entered early access in June last year. Responses to it so far appear to be, well, mixed, but as seems to be quite common with These Kinds Of Games, everyone that’s played it appears to be going through some kind of Stockholm syndrome kind of situation, as the game is still going. It’s going so far as to launch into 1.0 in fact, and developer Mainframe Industries have even put a date to it.

That release date is October 16th, about half a month away at the time of writing (assuming I still know how to read calendars). Mainframe outlined what you can expect in the leadup to the launch, as well as what will happen at launch itself in a recent Steam news post too.

From October 6th until the 14th, servers for the game will be completely offline. On the 14th, at 3am PDT, anyone that owns a founder’s pack will have access to the game’s 1.0 servers, and then on the 16th at 8am PDT, the MMO will be available to everyone. Something to note is that with the launch of 1.0, everyone that has been playing so far will have everything wiped – shards, characters, plots, inventories, skills, and more. This is the final wipe though, Mainframe explained, so you won’t have to worry if you’re new to the game.

One big difference is that Pax Dei will also have a subscription model. You can just play the game by buying it, but memberships give you a whole bunch of extras that do seem a little bit unfair. In particular, depending on which membership plan you go for, you’ll get a number of plot tokens, which let you literally own certain pieces of land – that you have to continuously pay for with said tokens. Yes, this is essentially digital rent. Whether this works out or not, well, we’ll find out in the next few months.

Hyper Light Drifter studio’s next game is a cyberpunk metroidvania with Smash Bros-inspired combat, out next month

Heart Machine, the studio behind sci-fi Zelda-like Hyper Light Drifter, has a new metroidvania out next month called Possessor(s).

Publisher Devolver released a new gameplay overview trailer over the weekend revealing its PS5 and PC release date of 11th November.

Possessor(s) is a metroidvania (or “search action” game, as the developers are describing it) set in a quarantined cyberpunk city, with players taking the role of high school student Luca who’s struck a deal with a demon.

As with Hyper Light Drifter, the game is visually arresting, here a clean animated aesthetic as Luca explores a cityscape controlled by a corrupt energy megacorporation.

Combat, meanwhile, is inspired by Nintendo’s Smash Bros. fighting series. Luca will be able to juggle enemies with aerial attacks, with makeshift weapons ranging from a computer mouse, to a guitar and a pair of sunglasses.

It’s looking great, especially if it can live up to the exceptional quality of Hyper Light Drifter, though there’s stiff genre competition from Hollow Knight: Silksong at the moment.

Still, Heart Machine in January released a surprising miss with its roguelike Hyper Light Breaker that remains in early access, but has a Mixed rating on Steam. It’s still being regularly updated, though, with the studio acknowledging the “risk” of early access.

NYDFS Chief Harris to Leave New York Regulator Next Month

New York Department of Financial Services Superintendent Adrienne Harris will leave the regulator next month, she announced Monday.

Harris, a former White House special assistant under former President Barack Obama, will depart NYDFS on Oct. 17, 2025, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement. NYDFS Executive Deputy Superintendent of Research and Innovation Kaitlin Asrow will take over as acting head of the agency. NYDFS was the first state regulator to issue specific rules for crypto firms with its landmark BitLicense, which came into effect 10 years ago.

In statements, Hochul and Harris thanked each other, with Hochul saying Harris worked “every day to make our financial system work for New Yorkers, while also rebuilding the Department into a regulator fit for the financial capital of the world.”

Harris first took office as the acting superintendent in August 2021, after Hochul nominated her to the role, and was confirmed by New York’s state senate the following January.

“It feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago, all at the same time,” Harris said of her four-year tenure earlier Monday during an appearance at the Digital Asset Compliance & Market Integrity Summit hosted by Solidus Labs.

In that time, she said, NYDFS had issued 11 different pieces of regulatory guidance to bolster the regulator’s landmark BitLicense.

“The industry had already changed so much from 2015 to 2021 when I came in, it felt really important that we start to add meat to the bones of the regulation,” she said.

This included guidance for dealing with stablecoins, blockchain analytics and coin listings, among other pieces of information, she said.

“I think it’s a real testament to what we’ve done out of DFS that folks in both chambers of Congress, folks on both sides of the aisle, come to us for our technical expertise, for advice, for edits, much of which have been incorporated — not all — but into the current market structure bill,” she said.

NYDFS also undertook investigations and enforcement actions, including into the Binance dollar stablecoin (BUSD) issued by stablecoin firm Paxos following an investigation dating back to 2023.
