Nightreign Mode Is So Hard Fans Can Now Derank Themselves

by admin September 19, 2025

It’s only been a week since Elden Ring: Nightreign‘s new hard mode was added to the multiplayer roguelike, and FromSoftware is already patching in some relief after even the most stalwart fans found themselves brutally beaten down. The mode has five depths, with the goal being to eventually complete enough successful runs to reach the deepest and most difficult one. Now, however, players will have the option to arbitrarily boot themselves back up to upper levels so they can stop dying and actually have fun again.

Depth 1 is straightforward enough. While some harder enemies and new item debuffs force players to adapt to the game in new ways, most were able to make short work of it. Then came Depth 2. For my team it was like hitting a brick wall, but others successfully made it to Depth 3. Past that, the game basically becomes a no-hit run mode in disguise. Within a few days some fans were already begging for an option to play on the lower difficulties again just for fun. With a shockingly quick turnaround, FromSoftware has now obliged.

An update that went live today adds “a new feature to voluntarily decrease your Depth ranking by one level.” It also gives loss protection to players at lower Depths, so that your first loss on Depth 3, 4, or 5 won’t immediately lose you points and kick you back to the previous one. This protection even applies if you’re returning to Depth 3 or 4 for the dozenth time. This is mostly for players at the final Depths who lose more points from a loss than they earn for each win.

“Lets go voluntary derank,” one player wrote on the subreddit. “This is based,” wrote another. “But we really just need more bosses.”

The new system allows more casual players the option to enjoy the mechanics in the new mode without having to run something they just keep dying in. At the same time, some players are wondering why FromSoftware doesn’t just nuke the whole ranking up system altogether and just let players choose which Depth they want to play on from the jump. Some fans were also hoping for a true “endless” mode, which was rumored based on original datamines for the Deep of Night update but which appear to have been based on a mistranslation.

Deep of Night is cool overall, but the progression system has been a bit of a bust. It’s also not a replacement for new bosses, maps, or random events during runs. The new difficulty mode will need more tweaks if it’s going to keep Elden Ring: Nightreign in the multiplayer rotation for a lot of current players, especially with so many other big games coming out this fall. But in the meantime, at least everyone can go back and farm the broken Deep Relics they need from easier Depths.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Gets Ridiculously Easy Mode on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Gets Ridiculously Easy Mode on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S

by admin September 19, 2025

After several years of being a PlayStation console exclusive, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is headed to Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 in early 2026. Depending on how confident you feel, the game can be fairly challenging with its blend of real-time combat and action-RPG elements. But if you’re looking to cruise through each battle and just focus on the story, then you can choose to play the game with the “Streamlined Progression” options enabled.

This makes Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade even easier than the old-school combat mode that slows the action to a crawl with menu-based commands, giving you an extended window to choose your tactics. Streamlined Progression gives you unlimited MP and HP at all times, unlimited limit and ATB gauges during battles, and every attack will deal a whopping 9,999 points of damage.

Additionally, you’ll gain a faster weapon ability charge, and with some exceptions, you’ll always possess the maximum number of items at all times. This mode can be toggled on and off at any given time from the main menu.

Sephiroth won’t be smiling for long.

Square Enix has also revealed several of the preorder bonuses for the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on new platforms. Players who preorder the digital edition will receive the original Final Fantasy 7 game to download and play–this offer expires on January 31, 2026–and if you preorder the physical edition, you’ll get a Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Play Booster pack of 15 cards with it.

While it doesn’t have a release date yet, Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will also be headed to Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S in the future. As for the final chapter in the remake trilogy, producer Tetsuya Nomura recently said that Square Enix knows exactly when it will officially reveal the game.

It’ll still be a while before it arrives, but in the meantime, you can scratch your JRPG itch with upcoming games like Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, and Octopath Traveler 0.

Fortnite creators will soon be able to sell in-game items to make more money, but are Creative Mode offerings like Steal A Brainrot what players want?

by admin September 18, 2025

Epic will soon allow Fortnite developers to sell in-game items from their Fortnite islands, allowing creators to make more money.

This will begin in December 2025, and for the first year developers will earn 100 percent of the V-Bucks value from sales – usually this is at 50 percent.

The news comes as Fortnite’s Creative Mode of fan-made content is proving exceptionally popular – recently, the Fortnite version of Roblox meme game Steal A Brainrot had more concurrent players than Epic’s official maps.

The Power of Megazord | Fortnite Battle Royale Gameplay TrailerWatch on YouTube

Fortnite’s Creative Mode first launched back in 2018, and allows players to create their own maps and modes. Epic then offers a payout based on engagement – last year it paid out $325m to creators, with seven receiving over $10m.

Since Creative Mode’s release, Epic has revealed, players have spent over 11.2bn hours across 260,000 creator-made islands, resulting in $722,000,000 paid to creators.

The amount of money creators will make in Fortnite is only going to increase when they’re able to sell in-game items directly from their islands, in addition to receiving an engagement payout from Fortnite’s item shop sales.

Epic has a formula for calculating the V-Bucks value in US dollars each month, which takes all real-money spending towards V-Bucks (in dollars), subtracting platform and store fees, and dividing by total V-Bucks spent. With creators usually earning 50 percent of V-Bucks value from sales, this equates to 37 percent of retail spending. Roblox offers 25 percent, by way of comparison.

In addition, Epic will add a Sponsored Row to Fortnite’s Discover, meaning creators can pay for increased visibility by bidding for placement in the row. That’s a further investment in generating more in-game sales.

Epic has also announced Fortnite Creator Communities, to allow creators to share updates directly with players on the web and within Fortnite. Creator posts will be text and image-based and allow for sharing information and gathering feedback – much like on Steam.

But despite the huge success of creator islands, is this really what Fortnite players want?

Take Steal A Brainrot. It’s proven to be a phenomenal success – as Dexerto reported, it had 24 million players in a single day across both Roblox and Fortnite versions. While the Roblox version peaked at 23.4 million players in a day, Fortnite’s version contributed 542,000. That vastly outweighs Fortnite’s primary Battle Royale modes that generate around 100,000 players during peak weekend play.

“They are promoting AI slop, copy and paste creative maps more than their own BR season,” wrote one player on reddit. “This is going to prove to be extremely unhealthy for the game in general I believe, and with the already low player counts this season Epic needs to do something to steer back to the basics, this metaverse stuff has RUINED Fortnite. This game has become a corporate shell of what it once was and I believe the remainder of this year will very much so make or break Fortnite as a whole.”

“Stuff like this cluttering the overview makes me disinterested in random creative maps. Those who put genuine effort into their maps often get hardly any attention,” wrote a user on a separate reddit post. Others point to the casual nature of user-made maps, as well as the high XP offered, as reasons for players to flock over.

Still, this new update for Fortnite creators is further shifting the game away from its Battle Royale roots into a Roblox-rivalling metaverse.

Microsoft’s Xbox handheld is a good first step toward a Windows gaming OS

Microsoft’s new Xbox mode on Windows has leaked for any handheld

by admin September 17, 2025

Microsoft is getting ready to launch its Xbox full-screen experience on the new Xbox Ally devices next month, but it looks like you won’t need new hardware to get it. Windows enthusiasts have discovered a way to enable this new Xbox mode early in Windows 11, thanks to the latest 25H2 update to the operating system.

The method, which involves installing a Release Preview version of Windows 11 and lots of tweaks, works on a variety of handheld gaming PCs — including MSI’s Claw devices and Asus’ ROG Ally range. I’ve been trying it out on the original ROG Ally today, and it allows the device to ignore Asus’ own software in favor of Microsoft’s Xbox app at boot.

The new Xbox full-screen experience doesn’t load the full Windows desktop or a bunch of background processes, freeing up more memory for games. It’s essentially not loading the Explorer shell and saving around 2GB of memory by suppressing all the unnecessary parts of a typical Windows 11 installation.

You launch straight into the Xbox PC app instead, which includes all of your PC games from the Microsoft Store, Battle.net, Steam, and other storefronts. There’s a Game Bar for navigating around, and a new task view that’s a lot more handheld-friendly.

You can also still swap into a Windows desktop mode, or access Windows apps and games directly in this full-screen Xbox mode. Microsoft warns that you’re exiting to the Windows desktop and that you should use touch or a mouse and keyboard “for the best experience,” and it’s the exact same Windows experience that exists on multiple devices right now.

If you want to try this out for yourself, it’s a relatively easy process to get going. But be warned, fiddling with registry settings or the Windows Feature Store (known as Velocity) could result in system instability. If you’re willing to risk some issues that might need rolling back or require a reinstall of Windows, there’s a handy guide on Reddit for all the settings required.

Hollow Knight: Silksong player melts its hardest bosses with an endless fountain of tools: ‘I think I unlocked easy mode’

by admin September 16, 2025

The Strongest Build in SILKSONG [SPOILER FREE] Architect Crest Silkshot Railgun Silksong Build – YouTube

Watch On

I’ll admit, I wasn’t as creative with my build in Hollow Knight: Silksong as I’d like to admit. I found one of the early weapon upgrades and kind of stuck with that for the next 30 hours.

It got the job done, but it was nowhere close to the power of YouTuber Syrobe’s “easy mode” build where you have an endless supply of powerful tools. Before I explain how it works though, you should know that it requires fairly late-game unlocks to put together. I’d wait until you’re several hours into Act 2 before attempting this.

The heart of the build is the Architect Crest which has the unique ability to repair your tools on the fly. Normally, you have to rest at a bench to do that, but this Crest gives you the option to forgo healing yourself to replenish your tools in the middle of combat.

Related articles

Tools are extremely powerful in Silksong and no other Crest lets you spam them like this one. The only drawback is that you can’t equip any of Hornet’s high-damage skills with it, but the amount of tools you can fling out more than makes up for it.

You can pretty much equip any tools you want, but Syrobe recommends the Tacks, Silkshot, and the Voltvessels. He adds in the Pollip Pouch so every hit applies a poison DoT on enemies and Quick Sling to double the amount of tools you throw at a time.

Nothing in the game can survive you laying traps all over the place and shooting everything down with buckets of laser beams and silk bullets. Bosses run into them and get ripped apart while you sit back and watch. Watching Syrobe tear through waves of enemies in seconds looks like he has cheats on.

He has a separate, spoilery video where he melts the last two bosses in the game in under a minute. Both fights took me much longer because I spent most of them dodging around and hitting the boss with my little sword.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Acquiring all the stuff might take you a while. Syrobe goes into detail on where to track it all down, but here’s a quick list of what you need and where to get it:

  • Architect Crest – Buy the Architect’s Key and unlock a room in the Underworks
  • Quick Sling – Found behind a false ceiling in Bilewater
  • Pollip Pouch – Complete the Rite of the Pollip quest in the Wormways
  • Tacks – Complete the Roach Guts quest in Sinner’s Road
  • Silkshot – Bring the Ruined Tool from Bilewater to the top of Mount Fay
  • Voltvessels – Found in northeastern Memorium

“I think I unlocked easy mode, I don’t know what everyone else is doing,” Syrobe said after humiliating one of the final bosses with a room full of traps. Here he is casually watching a boss get shredded while I remember each and every attempt I made in my own playthrough where I—a fool—chased the boss around with my sword. If only I had known about the devastating power of tools.

LocalThunk delays Balatro update to avoid "crunch mode"

LocalThunk delays Balatro update to avoid “crunch mode”

by admin September 15, 2025

Balatro’s 1.1 update has been delayed indefinitely, with creator LocalThunk explaining they’ve returned to working on the game “as a hobbyist.”

In a post titled “I’m Slow” published on the developer’s website on September 12, 2025, LocalThunk – the sole developer on the critically acclaimed poker roguelike – revealed that Balatro’s 1.1 update won’t come out in 2025, as previously announced.

“I know, I announced that it would, but it has become clear now that it won’t happen by the end of the year, and I wanted to tell you all now,” LocalThunk wrote in the post. “I feel bad for not keeping that promise, and I am sorry.”

“The truth is that I probably shouldn’t have announced any date for the 1.1 update at all,” the post continued.

LocalThunk explained that they have become “all too familiar with the crunch and stress that inherently come with professional game development” since Balatro “went public” in 2023 and that these struggles “didn’t stop at launch.”

Following the release of Balatro 1.0 in February 2024, the developer “dove right in” to the game’s 1.0.1 balance patch, which was released in August 2024, then into the mobile port. By the time Balatro’s mobile version was released in September 2024, LocalThunk was “well and truly burned out.”

“I took a break from everything to do with the game for a few months until the start of 2025, when I very slowly eased myself back into the work,” the Balatro creator explained.

“However, I chose to only work on the game like I did when the project began, as a hobbyist (a few hours per day, and not always on the 1.1 update), and it turns out that it’s a lot slower than working in crunch mode 12 hours per day like I was around launch.”

The developer said they still consider game development their “hobby,” but “the prospect of rushing the work and going back into crunch mode to get it out this year just felt terrible.”

“I am working slowly, but I like it that way,” the post continued. “I love getting sucked into rabbit holes and I don’t like trying to force things creatively.

“I have never, before Balatro, set a deadline for any of my creative projects and I now realize how important that is for my process.

“I am in a very lucky position in that I can choose to work this job however I wish, and I think the best version of ‘work’ for me is the version that makes me want to come back to my keyboard every day, healthy, and hopefully just as excited about game development 5 years from now as I am today. I don’t want 1.1 to be the last update this game gets.”

LocalThunk now says Balatro’s free 1.1 update will be “done when it’s done/”

“I posted a few months ago that I finally got 100% of the achievements in Balatro, and for a bit of reassurance, the Balatro player in me will absolutely not allow me [to] walk away from developing this game,” LocalThunk continued.

“I’m already super excited to try and 100% the game all over again from a second profile when 1.1 is ready. Rest assured, it will happen.

Released on February 24, 2024, Balatro has been a huge success for both LocalThunk and the game’s publisher, Playstack.

The deck-building roguelite grossed $1 million within eight hours of its release and has swept up numerous awards, including Game of the Year at the Game Developers’ Choice Awards 2025 and Best Debut Game at the BAFTA Game Awards 2025.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz in May 2025, Harvey Elliott, CEO Playstack, called the indie hit a “changer” for both Playstack and the industry.

“I think it’s really shown, once again, [that] when great, highly captivating games come to market, it doesn’t matter if it’s made by one person or a hundred people,” he said.

Donkey Kong Bananza DLC Adds Roguelike Mode And Is Out Today

Donkey Kong Bananza DLC Adds Roguelike Mode And Is Out Today

by admin September 14, 2025

During Friday’s hour-long Nintendo Direct, a new paid DLC expansion for Switch 2 game Donkey Kong Bananza was announced. It’s out later today.

Here’s the official trailer for the new DK Island and Emerald Rush DLC, which will be available after the Direct.

The other cool thing this new DLC adds is a whole new way to play Nintendo’s massive 3D platformer. If you have completed the main story of Bananza, you can actually work for the villain of the story and join his mining company. Doing so unlocks a new mode in which you smash up emeralds as fast as possible.

This mode is structured like a roguelike, with players completing runs to get higher scores. During these runs, Donkey Kong can find powerful artifacts that offer new, random perks. These perks offer up passive bonuses that can be stacked to help Donkey Kong earn more emeralds.

Doing well in this new mode, which is playable across the other parts of Donkey Kong Bananza and not just DK Island, lets you earn currency that can be used for buying and unlocking new cosmetic items. You’ll also be able to buy and unlock various statues to place all around DK Island.

This all sounds great to me and I’m excited to hop back into Donkey Kong Bananza. We might not be getting a new 3D Mario platformer anytime soon, but at least Donkey Kong has my back. Thanks, DK!

Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting A Roguelike Mode With DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC Today

by admin September 13, 2025

Announced during today’s Nitnendo Direct, Donkey Kong Bananza is getting DLC today with DK Island & Emerald Rush. DK Island is a new level modeled after Donkey Kong’s home from Donkey Kong Country, complete with his giant head. Donkey Kong’s family will also be hanging out on the island.

If you’ve beaten the game, Void Kong will also offer to hire you, which leads to the Emerald Rush mode. Though not explicitly called a roguelike mode by Nintendo, it allows DK and Pauline to partake in runs where they have to collect emeralds in a certain amount of time. Collecting fossils and Banandium gems let’s DK choose upgrades that he can use on that run. Along with being able to play the mode on DK Island, the other levels will also have Emerald Rush runs. Performing well in Emerald Rush awards new fashion options and statues that you can place around DK’s home.

Along with the DLC being available today, a demo for Donkey Kong Bananza will also be available. You can read Game Informer’s Donkey Kong Bananza review by following the link.

$0 Shiba Inu Twist Puts Bears in Vanish Mode, What’s Coming For SHIB?

by admin September 13, 2025

Amid the broad crypto market resurgence, which started about two days ago, Shiba Inu has also flipped to the positive side of the market.

However, the leading memecoin has witnessed an unusual silence in its derivatives market over the last hour, according to data showcased by Coinglass.

The data shows that Shiba Inu experienced a mild, one-sided liquidation on September 12, where it recorded a total liquidation of just $20.87 in one hour. Nonetheless, Shiba Inu delivered a surprising twist in this hourly liquidation trend, as its bears were left with no record to account for.

Specifically, SHIB recorded $0 in short liquidations during the period. This means that the overall liquidation of $20.87 recorded during the period was catered for by only long traders.

Is SHIB momentum still intact?

While situations like this have often had the crypto community speculate bullish outlooks for the concerned cryptocurrency, the trend has only sparked curiosities among market watchers, as they keep a close eye on SHIB’s price action in relation to the unusual derivatives activity.

Notably, the rare setup in Shiba Inu liquidation over the last hour suggests that traders betting against the meme token’s potential upsurge are currently out of play.

Scenarios leading to this situation could be traced to either little-to-no interest in the asset’s derivatives market (which means no short positions were opened at all), or the token’s price action during the period had moved in favour of short positions, causing them to suffer no liquidation during the period.

While the trend signals reduced downward pressure on Shiba Inu, the extremely low long liquidation also highlights that bullish positions remain intact, with only a tiny fraction of bullish traders being wiped out of the market.

You Might Also Like

While SHIB has continued to move on the upside trajectory, flagging bullish on-chain patterns as its price records a decent 2% surge in the last 24 hours, the absence of short liquidations could be interpreted as a sign that Shiba Inu bears have already exited the market.

On a more bullish note, the exiting bear traders might be due to exhaustion or anticipation of a potential price uptrend. With SHIB managing to avoid any major short squeezes or downside liquidation spikes, the token appears to be showing a neutral-to-bullish trend.

While investors are optimistic about SHIB’s long-term potential, they are positive that a persistence in the lack of active shorts could open the door for more upside movement for SHIB, posing it for a major price breakout in the near term.

Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode is borrowing some of the worst aspects of Call of Duty: Warzone, but at least its ring of fire instantly kills you

by admin September 11, 2025

Battlefield Studios has officially unveiled the first details of the Battlefield 6 battle royale mode, which was first announced in August at the game’s multiplayer reveal event. At the time, the developer didn’t confirm its official name, or really discuss any of its aspects.

It did announce, however, that the mode would be coming to Battlefield Labs, the community testing environment that’s been running in the background since February. That moment has now arrived.

In a blog post, the developer revealed some key, top-level goals for Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode. It still doesn’t officially have a name, but the post essentially makes it sound like a modern version of Battlefield 5’s Firestorm battle royale mode, with some features from Call of Duty: Warzone.

Destruction will play a key role in the mode, of course, but you can also expect many of the core game’s gadgets and vehicles to be present – including ways to acquire armored vehicles for late-game situations.

Anyone who played games like PUBG, Apex Legends, or Fortnite should be very familiar with how it’s going to flow. The post confirms respawn mechanics, for instance.

That said, this iteration comes with its own interesting twists on the battle royale formula. For one, classes from the multiplayer side will be present here, with one example being the Support’s ability to revive downed teammates.

Indeed, classes in general will play a larger role than you might expect. Each member of the squad gets to choose the class they’re going to play as, just like traditional multiplayer. These choices cannot be changed after the match has begun.

Each player starts the match with two gadgets from their class, and they’re able to level up during the match to unlock new Traits (like faster armor plate equip speed) for use within the same match. Throughout the game, there’ll be ways to earn XP, such missions with a variety of goals.

Battlefield 6’s BR mode will, of course, feature an ever-encroaching ring of fire that gradually makes the playable area smaller and smaller. Unlike most BR games, however, this one will instantly kill anyone caught outside of it, eliminating any out-of-ring play.

Ground loot is present, split across five tiers of rarities. Attachments appear to be separate lootable items this time around, which is an interesting change. Outside of other, expected items, you’ll also come across Strike Packages, which are effectively killstreaks.

Unfortunately, the mode will also allow players to bring in custom weapons from multiplayer, which can be called in using an item found in loot chests and on the ground.

This particular test will focus only on four-player squads, with a maximum of 100 players in each match. It’s not clear how high the player count is going to be in the final version, but 100 is within expectations for BR modes.

Battlefield Studios promised to return later to share more after feedback has been collected, and it’s certainly going to be interesting to see how players respond to some of that.
