Game Pass And PS Plus New Release FBC: Firebreak Has A Major Matchmaking Issue On Launch Day

by admin June 17, 2025

Alan Wake developer Remedy’s new multiplayer shooter, FBC: Firebreak, launched today across console and PC. The release didn’t go exactly to plan, however, as Remedy has identified what sounds like a pretty significant matchmaking issue causing headaches for some players.

In a social media post, Remedy said it’s aware of an issue causing “most players” to fail to match together, with the result being people getting into matches alone. Firebreak is meant to be played with other people.

Now Playing: FBC: Firebreak – Gameplay Trailer

“We are working on a hotfix for this issue, which we expect to hit Steam later today [June 17], with other platforms following as soon as possible,” Remedy said. It’s important to note that this hotfix will already significantly help cross-platform matchmaking across the entire player base.”

For the time being, Remedy said it advised players to use the Quick Play option to try to join matches. The developer said this should ensure players find matches populated with other users. Alternatively, Remedy said people can group up with two other people using the Party Code system and launch as a team.

“Thank you for your understanding,” the developer said.

In other news, FBC’s game director Mike Kayatta shared a heartfelt message celebrating the game’s launch. “For years, our small team has been hard at work building a game that we, ourselves, would play with our friends. And what’s come from that effort is something made from passion and grit that we couldn’t be more excited to share with the world,” he said.

Kyatta went on to say that Remedy is not celebrating because it’s done with FBC, but instead because “we’re finally starting.”

“By putting Firebreak in your hands, we’re officially opening our doors to you and to every other player who wants to join us in being part of its future. Working together, we can and will continue to grow this game into the best version of itself that it can be,” Kyatta said.

FBC is available through Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, or it can be purchased outright for $40. It’s a co-op first-person shooter that takes place “within a mysterious federal agency under assault by otherworldly forces.”

FromSoftware is finally doing something about quest matchmaking in Elden Ring Nightreign

by admin June 6, 2025

One of the most confusing aspects of Elden Ring Nightreign’s design don’t have much to do with in-game mechanics, or the loads of key pieces of information the game does not communicate.

No, it has to do with how character quests work, and the way players are supposed to go about advancing them for each of the game’s different classes. Things might get better after today, however, because a fix is being implemented.

If you’re unfamiliar with the structure of quests in Nightreign, here’s how it works: after you play with one character a few times, you get the ability to start their Remembrance, which is essentially their character quest.

The key detail here is that these quests are supposed to be done while on normal runs, so you activate your Remembrance and head out to hopefully get a chance to do what it wants from you so you can reach the next step.

However, as players discovered shortly after launch, having a Remembrance active puts you in a different matchmaking pool that, presumably, also matches you with others doing their own quests. In reality, that makes matchmaking times exceedingly long, which has prevented players from being able to finish their Remembrances, and driven some to just do them solo to avoid that mess. This appears to be a bug that FromSoftware is fixing today.

At the time of this writing, Nightreign servers are offline for two hours for maintenance, which is specifically intended to “improve expedition matchmaking with an active Remembrance,” according to FromSoftware.

Maintenance will end and servers should be back online at 3am PT, 6am ET, 11am UK, assuming the developer doesn’t need to extend that window. We’ll have to see whether or not this will fix matchmaking times.

Unfortunately, this won’t solve the problem of not having a way to tell other players that you’re working on your character’s quest. Some of their requirements will send send you off the beaten path, and make it look like you’re abandoning your team, which can be frustrating for both them and you.

Hopefully a larger solution is in the works to make that experience, at the very least, more transparent for everyone. Until such time, our mega Elden Ring Nightreign guide remains one of the most useful you’ll read.

We recently updated it with new pages to help you take on Darkdrift Knight, and the Night Aspect – two of the Day 3 Nightlord bosses. If builds are more your thing, check out these builds for Wylder, and Recluse.

FromSoft acknowledges issues with Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking

by admin May 31, 2025

If you’re jumping into Elden Ring Nightreign this weekend and are struggling to find a Player 2 – and/or a Player 3 – you’re not alone.

In a brief statement posted to official Elden Ring social media accounts about an hour ago (Saturday, 31st May), developer FromSoftware is recommending players “restart the matchmaking process” if they’re struggling to find a co-op partner.

“Nightfarers. If you encounter issues finding other players when launching an expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign, please try restarting the matchmaking process,” the brief message suggested. “Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Nightfarers,

If you encounter issues finding other players when launching an expedition in #ELDENRING #NIGHTREIGN, please try restarting the matchmaking process.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

It may not quite fix the issue for all players, however; as one commenter asked in the replies: “How often am I supposed to restart it? Yesterday I spend [sic] several hours restarting it on PS5 to not even play one match…”

Finding a co-op partner is pretty important for Nightreign players. As Ed wrote yesterday, he wouldn’t recommend Nightreign as a solo game at this point as it’s clearly not the intended way to play. However, it seems FromSoftware is aiming to respond to the current backlash to make solo play more feasible, with the studio previously stated it was considering a two-player option post-launch, acknowledging it was “something that was overlooked during development”.

“FromSoftware’s multiplayer spin-off is an exhilarating rush and a celebration of the studio’s prior achievements Souls veterans will devour,” Ed wrote in our Elden Ring Nightreign review.

Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking not working

by admin May 30, 2025

Elden Ring. Ooohhh, Elden Ring. It’s back with Nightreign, a multiplayer spin-off of the FromSoftware classic, which is both a blessing and a curse.

Elden Ring: Nightreign is a blessing because it spins the roguelike genre with FromSoftware flavoring and allows you to play Elden Ring with friends, but a curse because you need functional online servers to play it properly. This is a common occurrence in online games, and Nightreign is susceptible to these same ills.

Here are a few things to try if you’re having issues with Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking.

How to fix Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking not working

Restart your game

A common fix for Elden Ring Nightreign’s matchmaking being wonky is to fully restart the game. This sometimes reboots the title into triggering the multiplayer servers and getting the game back online. And as always, double check your internet connection to make sure the problem isn’t on your end before trying to queue again.

This has happened to me multiple times where I would try over and over again to select LOG IN for multiplayer, but the issue would not go away until I fully closed and restarted the game again.

Make sure you’re queued for multiplayer

In the game, make sure you have multiplayer and not singleplayer selected. Also, go to the Settings menu, then Network, and for Launch Setting, make sure Play Online is selected. Turning on Perform Matchmaking under Cross-Region play will also help with matchmaking times.

Check Elden Ring server status

Elden Ring Nightreign servers may be having issues if you can’t play multiplayer. Websites like DownDetector can sometimes track reports of server problems, but Nightreign doesn’t have a page set up for it just yet, so options are limited to following accounts like @ELDENRING or @BandaiNamcoUS for more info. Bandai Namco’s support page is another option.

Play a solo run

If the servers are struggling, you still have the option to play the game solo. In Roundtable Hold, select Commence Expedition, then tab over to Matchmaking Settings. At the bottom of the menu, under Expedition Type, select Single Player. When this is selected, you will set out on an expedition on your own without needing to matchmake.

Wait it out

Unfortunately, sometimes the best solution for matchmaking errors is to come back and try after a few hours, or until an update has been deployed. Server issues in online games are a plague but they still happen in 2025 and there’s sometimes not much we can do about it besides touch some grass.
