3 Meme Coins DeepSeek Predicts Could Deliver Massive Moonshots

by admin August 20, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

While mainstream cryptos like Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Cardano have all enjoyed strong rallies over the past month, capital is now flowing aggressively into meme coins.

The result? A wave of double- and even triple-digit gainers in recent days, hinting that meme coin season may only just be getting started.

To help you make the most of this potentially explosive rally, we turned to DeepSeek, aka the internet’s ultimate hype tracker.

After all, in a market driven by memes, social buzz, and online frenzy, who better than an AI plugged into the nonstop chatter of Reddit, X, and beyond?

Keep reading to discover DeepSeek’s top three picks for the best meme coins to buy now, along with what they bring to the table and the massive returns they could deliver.

1. Bitcoin Hyper ($HYPER) – First True Layer 2 Supercharging Bitcoin’s Speed and Utility

Don’t let Bitcoin Hyper ($HYPER)’s Pepe-inspired mascot fool you. While many tokens borrow from the Pepe meme playbook, Bitcoin Hyper is no ordinary copycat.

Its golden-suited, always-on-the-run Pepe might symbolize its Bitcoin association, but what truly sets Hyper apart is its mission to build the first-ever high-speed, low-cost Layer 2 solution for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin, for all its status as the OG blockchain, still processes just 7 transactions per second, falling far behind modern chains like Solana and Ethereum that can handle thousands.

This lack of speed, scalability, and Web3 compatibility has long been Bitcoin’s Achilles’ heel. $HYPER aims to change that.

Think of it as a fast side lane built onto a jammed expressway. Hyper’s Layer 2 reduces fees, accelerates speeds, and finally gives developers the ability to build smart contracts and decentralized applications on Bitcoin.

$HYPER’s secret weapon? Integration with the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM), bringing Solana-grade performance and Web3 functionality directly to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

But how do you actually get your ‘car’ onto that side lane? That’s where Hyper’s non-custodial canonical bridge comes in.

This decentralized bridge allows users to seamlessly convert their native Bitcoin into Layer 2-compatible tokens.

Once across, those tokens can interact with Hyper’s SVM-powered environment, including high-speed DeFi trading apps, NFT platforms, DAOs, gaming, lending, staking, and more.

Even better? According to our Bitcoin Hyper price prediction, the token could rocket over 400% by year-end, potentially hitting $0.32.

The project is currently in presale, where it has already amassed a whopping $10.8M. And you can buy $HYPER for just $0.012765 if you get in now.

For more information, visit Bitcoin Hyper’s official website.

2. Maxi Doge ($MAXI) – Fierce Meme Coin Built on Pure Degen Energy

Maxi Doge ($MAXI) stands out as a top choice if you’re looking to supercharge your crypto portfolio with the best chance at life-changing returns this cycle.

What drives Maxi isn’t a flashy roadmap or some forced ‘utility’ narrative. Instead, it thrives on raw, degen-powered hype, which is the very force that has delivered the biggest gains in the meme coin industry.

Maxi’s backstory is one of madness and rebellion. While Dogecoin, Maxi’s distant cousin, enjoyed all the love and attention as the legendary, adorable meme mascot, Maxi was left in the shadows.

Fueled by rage and determination, Maxi hit the gym and transformed into everything Doge is not: a shredded, caffeine-fueled Shiba Inu who never sleeps, trades nonstop, and wields a candlestick lightsaber to fight off mediocre returns.

The community quickly rallied around his philosophy of ‘never skip leg day, never skip a pump,’ helping the project raise over $1.28M in early investor funding just weeks into its presale.

But Maxi isn’t all bark. The developers have laid out an aggressive marketing plan, allocating 40% of the token supply to PR, campaigns, and ads, all aimed at making $MAXI a top trending crypto and a true challenger to Dogecoin’s dominance.

On top of that, holders will enjoy weekly trading competitions, leaderboard rewards, and exclusive community perks to keep engagement high.

Maxi Doge won’t stop at basic CEX and DEX listings. The team is also pushing for futures listings, giving hardcore $MAXI holders the chance to go full throttle with high leverage and chase mind-boggling returns.

Currently, each token is available for just $0.000253, and here’s a step-by-step guide on how to buy Maxi Doge.

Visit $MAXI’s official website for more information.

3. TROLL ($TROLL) – The Meme Coin That Turned Internet’s Chaotic Culture Into 700%+ Gains

TROLL ($TROLL) has been one of the most dominant meme coins in recent weeks, surging more than 700% in the past 30 days.

And while those gains are already mind-boggling, a quick look at its chart suggests its monstrous rally may be far from over.

The token is currently consolidating inside a clean triangle pattern, supported by an upward-sloping trendline at the bottom and capped by a descending resistance line at the top, a breakout above which looks highly likely.

Such a move could easily push $TROLL to new all-time highs, delivering at least a 40-50% rally from current levels, if not more, especially with the meme coin frenzy only just beginning to take full throttle.

So what exactly is TROLL? As the name suggests, it’s a pure meme coin built on the internet phenomenon of trolling – making fun of anyone and everyone, from government officials and celebrities to everyday people.

It’s worth noting that trolling isn’t inherently good or bad; it’s simply part of the internet’s chaotic culture. And for crypto degens, a little controversy goes a long way.

That’s why $TROLL has resonated so strongly with the community, driving massive inflows of capital.

Currently priced around $0.1822, $TROLL has already sparked calls for it to reach $1 ahead of a potential Binance listing.

If that plays out, today’s ‘discounted’ entry could set you up for truly massive returns.

Conclusion

In our quest to find the next 1000x crypto, we turned to DeepSeek, and it delivered a strong mix of utility-driven meme coins and pure hype plays.

From $TROLL’s proven gains to $HYPER and $MAXI’s explosive presale momentum, each has already captured the market’s fancy and could be poised for even bigger moves ahead.

That said, keep in mind that the crypto market is highly volatile and unpredictable. None of the above is financial advice, so please do your own research before investing.

Who Needs 280 Bitcoin Domain Names? Massive BTC Bundle Goes Up for Auction

by admin August 19, 2025

In brief

  • Lloyds is hosting an auction for more than 280 Bitcoin-themed domain names, all in a single bundle.
  • Domains available include BitcoinWallets.com and BitcoinExchanges.com, among others.
  • The auction follows Lloyds’ $3 million sale of XBT.com.

A collection of more than 280 Bitcoin-themed domain names is up for auction via a single sale at Lloyds, the famed auction house announced on Tuesday.

The collection includes dozens of geographical themed Bitcoin domains, like JapanBitcoin.com and AustraliaBitcoin.com, as well as more functional domains like BitcoinExchanges.com and BitcoinWallets.com.

Other notable (and/or amusing) names in the bunch include BitcoinforPizza.com, EmailBitcoin.com, BitcoinSpotETF.com, BitcoinSeedPhrase.com, TokenizedBitcoins.com, and BitcoinNetzwerk.com.

“This isn’t just a group of good domains,” Lloyds Auctions Chief Operations Officer Lee Hames said, in a statement. “It’s the architecture of Bitcoin’s internet presence. Whoever wins this auction won’t just own names, they’ll own the language of Bitcoin’s digital economy.”

The Australia-based auction house previously held an auction for XBT.com, an alternative ticker to BTC that is sometimes used for Bitcoin, selling it for more than $3 million on its own.

“After setting the benchmark with XBT.com, we’re now offering the infrastructure behind it, a full suite of digital assets that define the Bitcoin space online,” Hames added.

Some domains in the lot were registered as early as 2010, shortly after Bitcoin’s emergence in 2009, leading Lloyds to speculate that the anonymous domain registrants may have been tied to the early Bitcoin developer community.

In order to bid on the lots, users must be pre-approved by Lloyds. The firm began accepting payment in cryptocurrency as early as 2021, accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other popular cryptocurrencies.

Lot estimates are not listed by Lloyds for the sale, though the firm calls the auction a “significant offering.” Other popular crypto domains, like BTC.com and ETH.com, have traded hands for more than $1 million in the past.

A representative for Lloyds did not immediately respond to Decrypt’s request for comment or questions about lot estimates.

Massive Ethereum ICO Whale Suddenly Made $12 Million ETH Transfer to Top Exchange

by admin June 25, 2025

According to data provided by Spot On Chain, an Ethereum whale from the ICO era recently sent $12.1 million into the Kraken exchange.

The whale in question received a total of 107,000 ETH at Genesis. This massive sum would be worth roughly $243 million at current prices. These tokens cost them just $31,000 back then.

Ethereum (ETH) is currently the worst-performing cryptocurrency in the top 10 with a weekly drop of 3.2%, according to CoinGecko data. It is down 1.2% over the past 24 hours.

The flagship altcoin is still down 50.5% from the all-time high that was achieved in late 2021 despite the fact that Bitcoin hit a record peak in May.

Earlier this week, another Ethereum ICO whale deposited more than $5 million worth of ETH to the Binance exchange after an entire decade of inactivity.

Toncoin to $4? Massive 2.98 Billion TON Tokens Sit in Supply Zones

by admin June 25, 2025

As Toncoin (TON) hovers near $3, new data from Glassnode reveals a striking concentration of investor cost basis, sparking anticipation of a potential push toward $4.

According to the analysis, a staggering 2.98 billion TON are clustered across four major price zones, suggesting key support and resistance areas that could shape the token’s next move.

Cost Basis Distribution for $TON reveals four key supply clusters:

• $2.01–2.05 (1.32B TON)
• $2.18–2.22 (535M TON)
• $2.91–2.98 (863M TON)
• $3.83–3.87 (261M TON)

These levels represent zones of investor cost concentration – potential support/resistance. pic.twitter.com/bYtfLOsMgF

— glassnode (@glassnode) June 25, 2025

Glassnode’s cost basis distribution for TON reveals four key supply clusters for TON between $2 and $4.

In the range of $2.01 to 2.05, 1.32 billion TON are being held, while 535 million TON are being held between $2.18 and $2.22; 863 million TON sit in the range of $2.91 to 2.98, while 261 million TON were previously bought in the range of $3.83 to 3.87.

You Might Also Like

According to Glassnode, these levels represent zones of investor cost concentration and now serve as critical technical zones: support if TON retraces or resistance if the price increases.

At press time, TON was up 0.09% in the last 24 hours to $2.9; an increase to $4 would mark a 37% surge in current prices.

863 million TON cluster emerges as key area of interest

Of particular interest is the $2.91 to $2.98 range, where 863 million TON is held. What makes this level even more intriguing is that this massive stash appears to be controlled by a single entity.

You Might Also Like

According to Glassnode, a single investor or coordinated entity holds 863 million TON tokens with a cost basis that mirrors Toncoin’s price over multiple years. Glassnode suggests this wallet has been accumulating steadily over the years, untouched by local tops or capitulation events. This consistent activity suggests disciplined, long-term capital deployment.

As TON trades near $3, the $3.83-$3.87 zone now stands out as a potential launchpad or final resistance before TON reaches $4. The amount of 261 million TON held at this range suggests a minor resistance en route to $4.

Valorant 11.00 patch notes bring massive agent buffs, nerfs & Corrode map

by admin June 24, 2025

Valorant’s massive 11.00 update is finally here, and it is chock-full of buffs and nerfs to Agents. So, lets get into the patch notes.

This summer marks the fifth anniversary for Valorant, and Riot Games have been celebrating that milestone in a pretty big way.

There have been new capsules in-game, they’ve launched a new map in the form of Corrode, revealed there will be a switch to Unreal Engine 5, and confirmed that we’ll finally be getting replays in the not-too-distant future.

Article continues after ad

The 11.00 update is another continuation of those big changes, with a big focus on buffs and nerfs, as well as new animations for picking up the spike so it is a bit more obvious to other players, and a new rank in the form of Ascendant 3.

Agent buffs and nerfs in update 11.00

That’s right, the big changes in this set of patch notes comes in the form of agent buffs and nerfs. Waylay, Reyna, Neon, and Phoenix are all seeing game-changing tweaks.

Waylay is the biggest of those as their Refract, Lightspeed, and Saturate abilties are being adjusted. The minimum and maximum time in Refract have been lowered, the unequip delay for Lightspeed has been knocked down to 0.8s, and Saturate will now cover 12m instead of 10m.

Breach, Brimstone, Clove, Cypher, Killjoy, Omen, and Sova are all getting updates to make select abilities a bit more consistent and clear too.

Riot Games

Corrode joins the map pool

As noted, this patch also sees the arrival of Corrode to the map pool, meaning changes on that front.

Article continues after ad

The new map will join Bind in replacing Pearl and Split in the competitive and deathmatch playlists. Corrode will also have it’s own dedicated queue for five days, as well as being a part of Premier, Unrated, Swiftplay, Spike Rush, and Escalation.

Riot GamesThe newest map to join the pool.

You can find the full patch notes for 11.00 below.

Valorant update 11.00 patch notes

ALL PLATFORMS

GENERAL UPDATES

  • Suppression visual effects have been updated to be more visible on opponents to improve clarity of the debuff
  • We’ve added new UI/UX animations around picking up the spike to hopefully make it more obvious when players have picked it up.

AGENT UPDATES

  • Waylay
    • Waylay has shown a steep mastery curve since her release, where her win rate significantly improves the more games you play. That said, she is still slightly weak at all skill levels. These buffs aim to sharpen her ability to take fights right after exiting Lightspeed and make her Refract loop easier to play around, as well as improve Waylay’s flow and gameplay feel. Saturate does not land at a comparable rate to other abilities, so we’re increasing its power to justify its 300 credit cost.
    • Refract
      • Refract is faster and smoother, reducing total travel time
        • Minimum time in refract decreased 0.5s >>> 0.35s
        • Maximum time in refract decreased 3s >>> 2s
      • Unequip time decreased 1.0s >>> 0.8s
      • Refract delay after reactivation decreased 0.1s >>> 0.05s
    • Lightspeed
      • Unequip delay decreased 0.8s >>> 0.6s
    • Saturate
      • Windup before explosion decreased 0.75s >>> 0.6s
      • Size increased 10m total size >>> 12m total size

As we continue to tune ability strength for consistency, there’s opportunity for a couple of small changes with a few of our Agents so there’s more room for counterplay and opportunities for clutch moments like flicking to turn flashes.

Article continues after ad

Article continues after ad

  • Reyna
    • Leer is tankier than many of our other comparable shootable objects, and can feel especially so when it’s unclear if you are successfully shooting Leer after it has formed.
    • Leer
    • Audio and visual hit confirm feedback has been added to shots that land on Leer.

We’re also adjusting Neon’s Relay Bolt and Phoenix’s Curveball to have room for some additional counterplay. These abilities are meant to create strong combat advantages, but their fast activation left little time for opponents to respond. These changes aim to increase moment-to-moment counterplay without removing the need to anticipate and position against them.

  • Neon
    • Relay Bolt Windup increased 0.8s >>> 1.0s
  • Phoenix
    • Curveball Windup increased 0.5s >>> 0.6s

CLARITY AND CONSISTENCY UPDATES

These below changes are part of our ongoing effort to improve gameplay consistency & combat clarity similar to our updates to Neon’s Overdrive visual effects and Deadlock’s Barrier Mesh health states.

Article continues after ad

  • Breach
    • Aftershock
      • Visual effects around the windup and explosions resolve slightly more quickly and block less gameplay space
  • Sova
    • Recon Bolt
      • Increased volume of Recon Bolt’s projectile loop and improved how the arrow’s sound travels through the air to make it easier to track
      • Audio priority and attenuation adjusted so that you can more reliably hear the arrow when multiple audio cues are present
      • Audio tech updated to make it easier understand the trajectory of the arrow, point of impact, and reveal radius
    • Owl Drone
      • Enemies now hear a light warning audio loop when they are spotted by Sova’s drone
      • Audio hit confirm feedback has been added when shooting the drone successfully
  • Clove
    • Pick-Me-Up
      • Pick-Me-Up visuals updated to show when Clove’s speed boost is active
  • Killjoy
    • Lockdown
      • Lockdown’s detain pulse delay: 0.5s >>> 0.15s
        • Lockdown’s visual effects have been updated to match this new behavior
  • Cypher
    • Spycam
      • Spycam’s dart visuals have been updated so that is easier to understand the dart’s directionality
  • Omen
    • Given no other dome smoke controllers reveal their own location on smoking, we’ve removed this opponent counterplay specific to Omen.
    • Dark Cover no longer plays audio in third person within 12.5 meters for opponents. This audio will still play for Allies.
  • Brimstone
    • Sky Smoke will now play cast audio within 12.5 meters for allies

MAP UPDATES

  • NEW MAP: CORRODE
    • A 5v5 spike mode map featuring layered defenses and strategic depth across its medieval fortress setting. Navigate through contrasting castle fortifications and village structures, battling across multi-level positions in this salt-crystallized stronghold shaped by radianite storms.
    • Corrode features three lanes and two sites.
  • MAP POOL UPDATES
    • BIND and CORRODE are IN the COMPETITIVE and DEATHMATCH queues.
    • PEARL and SPLIT are OUT of the COMPETITIVE and DEATHMATCH queues.
    • CORRODE is now also available to play in Premier, Unrated, Swiftplay, Spike Rush, and Escalation.

MODES UPDATES

  • CORRODE QUEUE
    • Corrode Only queue will be available for 5 days.
    • Corrode Only games will use the Swiftplay mode format.
  • ESCALATION
    • Escalation will be temporarily disabled during the 5-day Corrode-only queue period.
  • Icebox has been reenabled in Deathmatch and Escalation game modes after addressing spawn-related issues that emerged in patch 10.09.

COMPETITIVE UPDATES

  • Ranked Gun Buddy has arrived!
    • Act IV starts today so you’ll be receiving your ranked buddy this patch. Remember that it’s based on the highest rank you achieved throughout the first three acts of Season 2025.
  • Corrode Launch Event
    • Corrode will be available to play in Competitive queue on the first day of the patch!
    • RR losses on Corrode will be 50% reduced for the first two weeks, but don’t worry, you will still receive 100% of the RR for any wins on Corrode
  • We’ve made some adjustments to rank resets. Hop back into Competitive and see where you land!
    • Players may see less of a drop in rank after completing placements for this midseason reset.
    • The maximum rank you can place is now Ascendant 3.

BUG FIXES

  • General
    • Fixed a bug with all Vulnerables/Fragiles where the visual effects could linger on a target longer than the gameplay debuff duration
    • Fixed a bug where destructible deployables like Tejo’s Stealth Drone and Fade’s Prowlers could keep teleporter doors open on Bind
  • Agents
    • KAY/O
      • Fixed an issue where KAYO’s ultimate sometimes did not apply the suppression visuals to opponents
    • Raze
      • Fixed an issue where Raze’s Paint Shells VFX would persist across rounds
    • Omen
      • Fixed an issue where targeting views could be inconsistently applied during Dark Cover if Shadowstep was spammed during Dark Cover’s ability equip flow.
    • Skye
      • Fixed inconsistent spacing in ability tooltips
    • Cypher
      • Fixed inconsistent spacing in ability tooltips
    • Breach
      • Fixed an issue where Breach’s Fault Line could rarely fail to apply its debuff to targets around varying elevations on specific charge levels
    • Astra
      • Fixed an issue where disconnecting and reconnecting within Astral World could result in Astral World’s visuals persisting for the round despite the player not being in Astral World.

Expedition 33 Actor Felt Like A “Total Fraud” After The Game Became A Massive Success

by admin June 23, 2025

One of the big draws for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was its cast of voice actors, as the turn-based RPG featured the talents of Charlie Cox, Ben Starr, Jennifer English, and Andy Serkis. For Cox, the critical success of the game has not gone unnoticed by him, as he remarked that he’d only heard good things about it. Jokingly, the Daredevil actor said that he felt like a “total fraud” for having only been in a studio for several hours to record his lines as Gustave, who quickly became a fan-favorite character with players.

“I don’t mean to minimize it in any way, and apparently, the game is awesome. I’m not a gamer, I haven’t played it,” Cox said at Washington State Summer Con (via Culture Crave). “My agent asked me if I wanted to go and do a voiceover–I was in the studio for 4 hours. People keep saying ‘congratulations’ and I feel like a total fraud. But I’m so thrilled for the company, I’m so thrilled it did really well.”

Now Playing: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 GameSpot Video Review

While Cox’s work for Expedition 33 was done in a day, his character still had a massive impact on the game, especially in its early hours and at the end of its first act. The performances of Cox and the rest of the cast have been widely hailed for their nuanced and emotional performances, which helped make Expedition 33 the best-reviewed game for several months.

Developer Sandfall Interactive has also been talking about what’s next for Expedition 33. The studio is looking at adding “a wide range of future improvements” including expanded localization and accessibility features. Sandfall is also preparing to start working on its next game, and while it is ready to say what exactly its next title might be, the studio did mention that it has some “great ideas” to work with on it.

With the crash in the Shiba Inu price over the last few weeks, hundreds of thousands of SHIB investors have seen their holdings plunge into the red. Presently, the majority of investors who have bought the Shiba Inu token are seeing losses on their holdings compared to those in profit. With the month of June known to be a particularly bearish one for SHIB, it is possible that even more investors will suffer losses before the month is over.

June Carries Bearish Prospects For Shiba Inu

The month of June has historically been bearish for the Shiba Inu price, and it seems that the year 2025 is not going to be any different. So far, the meme coin’s price is already down by more than 8% this month, suggesting that the month, with only less than 10 days left, is headed for another red close.

In the meme coin’s five-year history, June is the only month that has never seen a green close. As a result, it is the month with the highest negative returns for the meme coin in history. CryptoRank’s data shows an average of -13.8% returns for June and a -11.5% median return for the month.

With the passing of the years, it seems the losses for the month of June have only gotten worse. In June 2024, the meme coin crashed 32.3% to close the second quarter at a 44.3% loss. In fact, Q2 is also the worst quarter for the meme coin, with four out of the last five years closing in the red.

Given that established trends like this tend to repeat themselves, it is possible that the Shiba Inu price does continue to decline from here. The average returns for the month suggest a double-digit loss before the month is over.

SHIB Investors Suffer Massive Losses

According to data from the IntoTheBlock website, the number of Shiba Inu wallets that are nursing losses has skyrocketed. A total of 65% of all investors are currently in the red, putting them in the lead. In contrast, only 32% of investors are seeing any profit at this level, and 3% are sitting at breakeven, meaning the coins last moved around the price that the meme coin is currently trading at.

While the established trend suggests that the Shiba Inu price will continue to decline and push more investors into losses, the CoinCodex prediction suggests a change in the tide. The 5-day prediction sees an 8.8% rise to $0.00001278 in the new week.

On a longer timeframe, more specifically the 1-month prediction, Shiba Inu is expected to go even higher. It puts the meme coin as high as $0.00001496, which is a 27.35% increase from the current level.

‘Wall-E With a Gun’: Midjourney Generates Videos of Disney Characters Amid Massive Copyright Lawsuit

by admin June 20, 2025

Midjourney’s new AI-generated video tool will produce animated clips featuring copyrighted characters from Disney and Universal, WIRED has found—including video of the beloved Pixar character Wall-E holding a gun.

It’s been a busy month for Midjourney. This week, the generative AI startup released its sophisticated new video tool, V1, which lets users make short animated clips from images they generate or upload. The current version of Midjourney’s AI video tool requires an image as a starting point; generating videos using text-only prompts is not supported.

The release of V1 comes on the heels of a very different kind of announcement earlier in June: Hollywood behemoths Disney and Universal filed a blockbuster lawsuit against Midjourney, alleging that it violates copyright law by generating images with the studios’ intellectual property.

Midjourney did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Disney and Universal reiterated statements made by its executives about the lawsuit, including Disney’s legal head Horacio Gutierrez alleging that Midjourney’s output amounts to “piracy.”

It appears that Midjourney may have attempted to put up some video-specific guardrails for V1. In our testing, it blocked animations from prompts based on Frozen’s Elsa, Boss Baby, Goofy, and Mickey Mouse, although it would still generate images of these characters. When WIRED asked V1 to animate images of Elsa, an “AI moderator” blocked the prompt from generating videos. “Al Moderation is cautious with realistic videos, especially of people,” read the pop-up message.

These limitations, which appear to be guardrails, are incomplete. WIRED testing shows that V1 will generate animated clips of a wide variety of Universal and Disney characters, including Homer Simpson, Shrek, Minions, Deadpool, and Star Wars’ C-3PO and Darth Vader. For example, when asked for an image of Minions eating a banana, Midjourney generated four outputs with recognizable versions of the cute, yellow characters. Then, when WIRED clicked the “Animate” button on one of the outputs, Midjourney generated a follow-up video with the characters eating a banana—peel and all.

Although Midjourney seems to have blocked some Disney- and Universal-related prompts for videos, WIRED could sometimes circumvent the potential guardrails during tests by using spelling variations or repeating the prompt. Midjourney also lets users provide a prompt to inform the animation; using that feature, WIRED was able to to generate clips of copyrighted characters behaving in adult ways, like Wall-E brandishing a firearm and Yoda smoking a joint.

The Disney and Universal lawsuit poses a major threat to Midjourney, which also faces additional legal challenges from visual artists who allege copyright infringement as well. Although it focused largely on providing examples from Midjourney’s image-generation tools, the complaint alleges that video would “only enhance Midjourney ability to distribute infringing copies, reproductions, and derivatives of Plaintiffs’ Copyrighted Works.”

The complaint includes dozens of alleged Midjourney images showing Universal and Disney characters. The set was initially produced as part of a report on Midjourney’s so-called “visual plagiarism problem” from AI critic and cognitive scientist Gary Marcus and visual artist Reid Southen.

“Reid and I pointed out this problem 18 months ago, and there’s been very little progress and very little change,” says Marcus. “We still have the same situation of unlicensed materials being used, and guardrails that work a little bit but not very well. For all the talk about exponential progress in AI, what we’re getting is better graphics, not a fundamental-principle solution to this problem.”

Massive Data Breach Hits Billions of Logins Across Google, Facebook and GitHub

by admin June 20, 2025

In brief

  • A major data breach has exposed sensitive information, sparking fresh concerns about cybersecurity.
  • The previously unreported data breach has exposed more than 16 billion login credentials.
  • Experts warn that poor adoption of multi-factor authentication and passkeys leaves users vulnerable.

A previously unreported data breach has exposed more than 16 billion login credentials, making it one of the largest compilations of stolen personal data ever discovered.

First reported by Cybernews, the trove of data includes credentials for widely used services, including Facebook, Google, Telegram, and GitHub, as well as access to corporate, developer, and government websites.

Researchers from Cybernews said the information likely comes from a mix of infostealer malware logs, credential stuffing databases, and previously repackaged leaks.

“This is not just a leak – it’s a blueprint for mass exploitation,” Cybernews researchers said in a statement. “With over 16 billion login records exposed, cybercriminals now have unprecedented access to personal credentials that can be used for account takeover, identity theft, and highly targeted phishing.”

Google, Facebook parent Meta, and GitHub did not immediately respond to Decrypt’s requests for comment.

An info-stealer is malicious software that secretly collects sensitive data—such as passwords, financial information, and browser activity—and sends it to cybercriminals.

Unlike keyloggers, info-stealers not only capture what a victim types but also scan systems for stored passwords, cookies, autofill data, and other exploitable information.

The researchers identified 30 datasets, each ranging from tens of millions to more than 3.5 billion records. The average dataset contained around 550 million entries.

According to Cybernews, the datasets were briefly exposed online through unsecured cloud storage. While they were quickly taken down, the exposure was enough for the datasets to be collected and analyzed.

The individuals or groups responsible for the leak have not been identified.

In a separate incident, Coinbase disclosed in May that a breach in December affected more than 69,000 customers. That same month, the crypto exchange was targeted by cybercriminals demanding a $20 million Bitcoin ransom for stolen customer data. Instead of complying, Coinbase launched a $20 million bounty to track down the attackers.

“They then tried to extort Coinbase for $20 million to cover this up. We said no,” Coinbase said in a statement at the time.

Experts warn that data breaches pose serious risks to individuals and organizations, particularly those that lack strong cybersecurity practices, such as multi-factor authentication and routine password updates.

“Not all sites force password reset upon breach discovery,” a security expert told Decrypt. “People reuse passwords all the time, or variants of them, making them easy targets.”

The expert, speaking on condition of anonymity, noted that the latest leak will most severely impact smaller websites and individual users with limited cybersecurity resources.

A Preventable Breach?

While the scale of the breach is alarming, the root cause isn’t new or particularly sophisticated, and could have limited impact on those using two-factor authentication, password managers, and passkeys as essential defenses.

“Normal users will be impacted,” the expert said. “Users with 2FA will be fine.”

Multi-factor authentication in the form of mobile apps like Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator adds a critical layer of security by requiring users to verify their identity through an additional method, such as a text message code, app notification, face ID, or fingerprint.

Passkeys, a newer alternative to traditional passwords, eliminate the need for login credentials entirely by using cryptographic keys stored on a user’s device. Passkeys are “origin-bound,” meaning they only work with the specific website or service for which they were created.

Passkeys are considered more secure and less vulnerable to phishing attacks, and are being adopted by industry giants such as Google, Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft.
