Maple Finance Hits $4B AUM, Overtakes BlackRock’s BUIDL1

by admin September 17, 2025

Onchain asset manager Maple Finance has surpassed BlackRock’s BUIDL fund to become the largest in the sector, with its Assets Under Management (AUM) approaching $4 billion. The growth is largely driven by strong institutional demand for its yield-bearing stablecoin, syrupUSD, and recent expansions to new blockchain networks.

The surge in assets highlights a significant trend in decentralized finance (DeFi), according to Maple Finance CEO and co-founder Sid Powell. “The majority of Maple’s growth is being driven by institutional credit demand,” Powell stated, noting a pivot in the market. “It’s a shift away from opportunistic strategies toward a more stable, credit-driven yield base.”

The protocol’s investor deposits, which now stand at $3.8 billion, generate yield by providing capital to crypto-native businesses such as prime brokers, trading firms, and Bitcoin miners.

Expansion and Incentives Fuel Growth

Maple upgraded its services to the new blockchain, accelerating the company’s  growth. At the beginning of September, the protocol deployed on Arbitrum to participate in its $40 million DRIP reward scheme. More recently, on September 15, Maple launched syrupUSD on the new layer-2 network, Plasma. The launch included a $200 million pre-deposit vault, which was filled within 24 hours and offers exclusive rewards to early liquidity providers.

The total amount of money deposited into all DeFi lending systems has reached a new all-time high of almost $135 billion. Powell talked a lot about how Maple’s model is sustainable, saying that its yield is based on “real credit demand, not by circular activity or opaque leverage.” He also said, “We’re moving from experimental protocols toward durable financial rails that can support billions of dollars in capital.”

Maple Finance’s milestone signals a maturing onchain credit market and growing institutional confidence in DeFi-native yield products. By providing stable, credit-driven returns sourced from real-world business operations, Maple is demonstrating a sustainable alternative to the volatile and often speculative yields that characterized earlier DeFi cycles.

The company wants to have $5 billion in AUM by the end of the year. If it succeeds, it could encourage bigger names in finance to get involved with decentralized asset management.

Crypto Lender Maple Expands to Tether-Backed Plasma

by admin September 16, 2025

Cryptocurrency lending platform Maple Finance has deployed syrupUSDT on Plasma, a payments-focused blockchain backed by Tether, in its first major move to expand the product beyond Ethereum.

Starting tomorrow, users will be able to deposit the token into a Midas-hosted vault that offers yield while distributing rewards tied to Plasma’s upcoming mainnet launch and token generation event. Future integrations with decentralized finance protocols on Plasma are planned as the network builds out.

“This launch underscores our excitement over Plasma and its importance as a payments ecosystem,” Maple CEO Sid Powell said in a statement. He added that distributing yield-bearing dollar products across chains is central to Maple’s push to grow liquidity and hit $5 billion in assets under management by the end of 2025.

Plasma is designed to process transactions quickly while focusing on USDT as its base asset. For Maple, the chain’s infrastructure could provide a natural fit for products like syrupUSDT, which package stablecoins into vaults that generate returns.

The launch continues a year of rapid growth for Maple, which has already expanded to Solana and Arbitrum. Its syrupUSDC recently crossed $1 billion in supply, underscoring the demand for tokenized yield products across blockchain ecosystems.

Maple plants syrupUSDC on Arbitrum as onchain leverage gains traction

by admin September 3, 2025

Maple’s syrupUSDC now lives on Arbitrum, adding institutional-grade yield to the network’s lending stack. The launch layers native returns with ARB incentives, giving DeFi participants new ways to loop and optimize capital efficiency.

Summary

  • Maple Finance deploys its yield-bearing dollar asset, syrupUSDC, on Arbitrum’s layer-2 network.
  • The expansion integrates syrupUSDC with Euler, Morpho, and Fluid and enables ARB rewards via Arbitrum’s DRIP program.
  • Users can now borrow against syrupUSDC while accessing layered DeFi yields.

According to a press release shared with crypto.news on Sept. 3, Maple Finance has officially deployed its yield-bearing dollar asset, syrupUSDC, on the Arbitrum One network.

The asset is now integrated with one of DeFi’s busiest layer-2 networks and its premier money markets, including Euler, Morpho, and Fluid, and will be immediately eligible for incentives from Arbitrum’s ongoing DRIP program.

Maple said the expansion allows users to borrow against syrupUSDC while earning ARB rewards, creating a layered yield environment designed to attract both institutional desks and retail traders.

Bridging the gap between institutional yield and DeFi leverage

Maple’s expansion to Arbitrum is driven by growing institutional curiosity in onchain finance, a trend CEO Sid Powell confirmed is accelerating. The move strategically positions Maple’s yield products at the nexus of this demand, directly within the leveraged loops favored by Arbitrum’s sophisticated user base.

Powell emphasized the synergistic effect of this integration, stating, “Paired with Maple’s robust pipeline of curated yield opportunities, Arbitrum’s DRIP campaign generates new value creation for users, improves liquidity, and accelerates the adoption of onchain capital markets.”

For users, accessing syrupUSDC on Arbitrum is facilitated through two primary methods. They can acquire the asset directly onchain by swapping for it on integrated platforms like Fluid or through various liquidity aggregators. Alternatively, holders can bridge existing syrupUSDC from the Ethereum mainnet using Arbitrum’s native Transporter bridge.

Once in possession of the asset, its utility shines as collateral within the integrated money markets. Users can supply syrupUSDC to protocols like Euler, Morpho, and Fluid, using it as collateral to borrow other assets while qualifying for additional ARB token rewards from the DRIP program, creating a multi-layered yield on their capital.

Initial capacity is being rolled out cautiously, reflecting a measured approach to risk management. Euler will host an initial supply cap of $20 million for syrupUSDC, while Morpho’s capacity is set at $7 million. Fluid will feature the largest initial allocation with $40 million in capacity spread across its various vault strategies.
