TikTok baker goes viral making life-sized Rumi from K-Pop Demon Hunters out of cake

by admin September 19, 2025

A TikTok-famous baker is taking over the app after making a life-sized character from K-Pop Demon Hunters completely out of cake, leaving viewers equal parts stunned and hungry.

K-Pop Demon Hunters is one of the world’s most popular animated films, and it’s not hard to see why. The colorful visuals, catchy songs and heartwarming message have brought the magic of Korean pop music and culture around the globe.

Despite getting snubbed at the VMAs, K-Pop Demon Hunters broke records as Netflix’s most-watched film ever, and two more sequels for the IP have already been announced.

To celebrate the viral KPDH craze, a TikTok-famous baker decided to try her hand and recreate the movie’s main character, Rumi, completely out of cake.

TikTok baker makes life-sized Rumi out of cake under 1 week

Lara Cakes is a baker with over 4 million followers on TikTok, best known for making massive edible sculptures out of cake. She’s made some truly wild ones over the years, including Elsa from Disney’s Frozen and even a life-sized statue of Wolverine holding up Deadpool.

Boasting a floor-length purple braid and stylish stage attire, KPDH’s Rumi seems like one of the most challenging characters from the movie that Lara could recreate, but that didn’t put her off from her vision. In fact, she challenged herself to complete it in less than a week.

First, Lara created Rumi’s body out of vanilla sponge cake, using struts for support. She made Rumi’s patterns out of purple and pink layers, and created her skin using white chocolate modeling chocolate, while she modeled the clothes using white chocolate ganache.

“I didn’t realize how detailed her clothing actually was, and it came back to bite me in the butt when I began to decorate it at the very end,” Lara joked, remarking how many little elements are present on the character’s jacket.

Surprisingly, doing Rumi’s makeup was one of the more difficult aspects of making the cake — but in the end, she managed to make a fair recreation of the HUNTR/X lead singer that left fans stunned.

“I am so ecstatic with how this one turned out,” she said. “I really think I nailed every single part of this.”

Viewers were in agreement, with one joking, “Oh, you ATE this.”

“I’ve never been jealous of a fake figure before!” another wrote. “This is insane!”

“My daughter’s reaction was, ‘I would like one,’” one parent said.

This is the latest cake-related moment to go viral online after YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul got into a fistfight with his brother Logan’s wedding cake in August.

George A. Romero’s Daughter Making A Zombie Drag Queen Film

by admin September 19, 2025

Tina Romero, the daughter of the late filmmaker and creator of the modern zombie, George A. Romero, is making her directorial debut with, appropriately enough, a movie all about an invasion of the undead. But Queens of the Dead shakes up the formula by having the zombies attack an NYC party featuring drag queen performers and their friends.

Queens of the Dead is a new horror comedy mixing together drag queens and zombies, and it’s set to hit theaters in October. The first look at this upcoming flick is out now, and the movie looks fun. It also looks like a movie that might greatly upset and confuse your conservative grandpa, who loves Fox News. Here’s the trailer:

The new movie stars the always excellent Katy O’Brian, Nina West, Jack Haven, and others, and looks to split its action between a group of clubgoers and drag queens stuck in a warehouse party, and the happenings at a hospital in New York City during the zombie uprising. After watching this trailer, I’m on board for this spin on the classic zombie movie. It’s also great to see Romero continuing her father’s legacy of making zombie movies that aren’t just gory and scary, but also filled with characters and ideas that feel extremely relevant. Romero’s iconic horror movie, Night of the Living Dead, essentially created modern-day zombies, or ghouls as he often called them, and laid out the basic framework most zombie movies follow: People stuck in a place fight back the dead while dealing with each other.

Here’s the official description for the film courtesy of IFC Films:

When a zombie apocalypse breaks out in Brooklyn on the night of a giant warehouse party, an eclectic group of drag queens, club kids, & frenemies must put aside their drama and use their unique skills to fight against the brain-thirsty, scrolling undead.

In 2025, with President Trump and other Republicans cracking down on LGBTQ people and anything they deem “different,” a movie about a horde of nasty zombies trying to destroy a safe place for drag queens and queer folk seems pretty dang perfect. I’d bet George would be proud of his daughter’s first theatrical film. Before this, she had done TV and smaller projects. I’m excited to check out Queens of the Dead when it arrives in theaters on October 24. Just in time for Halloween.

IShowSpeed crashes car after making it “fly” in Dukes of Hazzard stunt: “OMG I’m dead”

by admin September 18, 2025

IShowSpeed linked up with car YouTuber Westen Champlin during his 35-day tour around the US, who let the streamer jump a car over one of his ramps.

The YouTube star began his 24/7 stream on August 28, 2025, and has been traveling around the United States ever since in a $300,000 tour bus.

IShowSpeed quickly introduced an AI VTuber that takes over his stream while he’s sleeping, and was left stunned after a fan sold an apple signed by him for $500.

On Wednesday, September 17, Speed and his crew went to Kansas to link up with YouTuber Westen Champlin to have fun with various cars.

IShowSpeed jumps car off ramp and crashes

After arriving to Champlin’s compound, Speed was introduced to all of the YouTuber’s wild builds, including an inverted truck and a diesel swap Rolls Royce Phantom that they’ve been working on building.

It wasn’t long, though, until the streamer began driving some of these vehicles and even made a car “fly” by driving it over one of Westin’s ramps in a stunt that seemed right out of the TV show Dukes of Hazzard. Speed went airborne while in the passenger seat, but was given the chance to drive over the ramp himself.

After a few failed attempts, Speed hit the required 40mph and sent the car into the air… only to drive off the side of the next ramp and into the nearby light post, setting off the airbags in the process.

“Oh my God, I’m dead,” said the shocked YouTuber as the car came to a stop.

(Segment starts at 51:54)

After taking a minute to process what just happened and making sure his cameraman was okay, Speed made light of the accident.

“I’m a real f**kin man now chat,” he joked.

This comes just days after IShowSpeed was in a Houston, Texas, mall when things became chaotic due to fans flocking to see the streamer – leading to him being banned by mall security.

Public toilets in China are making people watch ads for toilet paper

by admin September 12, 2025

China’s latest “smart” public toilet upgrade has gone viral, and it might be the most dystopian one yet.

Clips circulating across Chinese social media show new dispensers in the country that only release toilet paper if you watch an advertisement or pay a small fee.

In a viral video shared by China Insider, a woman is seen scanning a QR code with her phone and being forced to view an ad before the machine finally spits out a strip of paper.

Article continues after ad

According to the outlet, users can either watch an ad or pay 0.5 yuan (about $0.07) per strip. Officials claim the system was introduced to reduce waste, claiming that some people had been taking excessive amounts of free toilet paper.

New toilets make users watch ads to get toilet paper

This isn’t the first time China’s bathrooms have made headlines. Back in 2017, facial recognition dispensers were installed at tourist spots, rationing out one 60-centimeter strip per scan every nine minutes.

Article continues after ad

By 2019, new dispensers extended the wait to ten minutes per person.

Article continues after ad

Like most ad-based systems, the reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. “I’m walking with my own paper everywhere just in case,” one user wrote. Another remarked, “China is more capitalistic than USA.”

“Ok, this is the first actually dystopian thing I have seen,” someone else said.

Others suggested just watching the ad while doing your business to get some “entertainment” while on the can.

There’s also one pretty big flaw: if someone’s phone is dead or they don’t have spare change, they could have a really gross situation on their hands – literally.

Silksong’s Most Popular Mods Are All About Making The Game Easier

by admin September 9, 2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong is out. Did you know that? You probably pieced that together. After seven years of waiting, Team Cherry’s long-awaited 2D action-platformer is here and kicking people’s asses. But on PC, thousands of players are using mods to help them overcome the challenging game.

Silksong released late last week on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC after nearly a decade of waiting. And first reactions to the sequel are almost entirely positive, with fans loving the small tweaks to the Hollow Knight formula and the larger size of its world. Plus, that $20 price tag is nice in an era when everything is more expensive than ever. And Silksong, like Hollow Knight, isn’t the easiest game in the world. Many players are even claiming that Silksong is harder than the OG. This has led to a lot of discourse on the internet about how hard it is or isn’t, and about game difficulty in general. But if you’re playing on PC, there’s a solution: Just mod Silksong and make it easier.

If we hop over to Silksong’s mods hub over at NexusMods, a popular PC modding site, you can see there are already 60+ mods available for the recently released platformer. And many of the most popular mods available for the game make it much easier to play. The most popular mods for Silksong include one that adds health meters to enemies, another one that stops enemies from doing double damage to the player, and one that shows the player’s position on the map at all times. All of these mods have over 15,000 downloads. An automapping mod has 9,000 downloads. Another free PC mod that increases how much damage players deal to enemies has over 7,000 downloads.

In fact, the only mod more popular than all of these mods that make Silksong easier is the mod needed to run any of these other creations. That mod, “BepInEx 5 with Configuration Manager,” has over 28,000 downloads as of September 8. That’s a lot of downloads for a game that’s barely been out a week. Of course, not all the mods for Silksong are about making it easier. But those mods, like one that adds ultrawide support and a death counter, only have a few hundred downloads or fewer.

It seems that the people coming to NexusMods for Silksong mods mostly have one goal in mind: Make the game less challenging. I expect reactions to this will vary a lot, but personally, I land on the side of “If folks want to make a game easier or harder with mods, and it doesn’t ruin it for other people, then whatever.” But I’ve been on the web long enough to know that ain’t a universal take.

Kingdom Hearts 4, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 are making “great progress”, confirms director

by admin September 7, 2025

Square Enix director Tetsuya Nomura still doesn’t have any specific Kingdom Hearts 4 news for us just yet, but he wants you to know that the teams are making “great progress” on both the Kingdom Hearts sequel and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3.

Other than a sneak peek back in May, we haven’t seen or heard anything since Kingdom Hearts 4 was shown back in 2022 for the series’ 20th anniversary, which is likely why Nomura joked in a recent livestream about seeing “a lot of comments” from fans eager to know more about the game.

Kingdom Hearts 20th anniversary announcement trailer.Watch on YouTube

“I’m seeing a lot of comments asking about Kingdom Hearts 4,” Nomura said, as translated by Aitaikimochi (thanks, TheGamer). “We are making great strides and going according to schedule. So please wait for more information on that!”

Admittedly, that doesn’t give us much to go on, but it should be a relief to fans to know everything is “going according to schedule”. And as for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3?

“[Motomu] Toriyama supposedly said we will have news around the time of the second anniversary of FF7EC,” he added. “We are making great progress on the game! And I can’t say anything else. I’m not gonna be like, ‘Well, actually…’ If I did, people would be really surprised if it’s during this FF7EC livestream.

“But we are indeed making a lot of progress with the game. We already have decided when we will make the announcement as well, and we will stick to that time schedule. So don’t worry, but please wait for it.”

Square Enix finally released fresh screenshots of Kingdom Hearts 4 back in May, giving us our first look at the game in three years. Before then, the last time the game was shown was back in 2022 for the series’ 20th anniversary, in which we were treated to Sora’s return and the expansive metropolis of Quadratum.

The day before those new screenshots, Square Enix cancelled mobile game Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link.

SEC, CFTC Propose Making US Financial Markets 24/7 to Keep Up with Crypto

by admin September 6, 2025

In brief

  • SEC and CFTC leaders proposed a “24/7 Markets” policy to bring U.S. securities trading online around the clock, citing the nonstop nature of crypto and global markets.
  • They also floated plans to ease rules for prediction markets, perpetual derivatives, and DeFi trading in line with a unified “super-app” model for finance.
  • Critics warned the reforms could be risky, while regulators said discussions will continue at a September 29 roundtable.

The heads of America’s two top financial regulators floated several more aggressively pro-crypto proposals Friday, including one that would bring traditional finance markets online “24/7” in a bid to adapt the U.S. economy to the cadence of the digital asset market.

SEC chair Paul Atkins and CFTC acting chair Caroline Pham announced the considerations in a joint statement focused on heralding “a new beginning” for both agencies, as markets for securities and non-securities, long held to vastly different regulatory standards, “increasingly converge.”

The chairs, in that vein, today proposed a “24/7 Markets” policy that would bring securities exchanges online constantly. In the 154 years since continuous trading debuted on Wall Street, such markets have always followed a strict schedule, which since 1985 has kept markets open only during certain business hours on weekdays.

Today, however, Atkins and Pham said that policy may need to change, to keep up with continuously active markets like crypto, gold, and foreign exchanges.

“Further expanding trading hours could better align U.S. markets with the evolving reality of a global, always-on economy,” they said.

The chairs added the caveat that expanded trading hours “may be more viable in some asset classes than others,” and that the agencies may not ultimately adopt a one-size-fits-all approach.

The announcement follows a similar joint statement made Tuesday by both agency heads, proposing that spot crypto assets be allowed to trade directly on U.S. securities and commodities exchanges.

Today’s announcement just highlights the gaps in the agency heads’ prior statement, Amanda Fischer, policy director at consumer advocacy nonprofit Better Markets, told Decrypt.

Today the chairs also proposed easing the ability for “innovators” to list event contracts on prediction markets, and allowing perpetual derivatives contracts, which are common in offshore crypto markets but currently heavily restricted in the United States, to trade freely across securities and commodities exchanges. Another proposal would create “innovation exemptions” for DeFi protocols offering spot crypto and perpetual derivatives contracts trading.

The chairs said the proposals are all in line with a report released in July by the Trump administration directing the agencies to loosen numerous restrictions on crypto trading in the United States.

Fischer, who previously served as chief of staff to former SEC chair Gary Gensler, said the proposals outlined today will likely take years to implement, given their complexity. But she maintained that these reforms, if enacted, would be “extremely dangerous” and “will give crypto native firms an edge over TradFi in all markets.”

“The idea of a super app where customers trade securities, spot crypto, leveraged futures, [and] event contracts is not going to end well,” she added.

The SEC and CFTC said they plan to jointly discuss the proposals outlined today at a roundtable on September 29.

Today’s announcement marks only the latest push by financial regulators, under the second Trump administration, to allow U.S. companies to deal in vastly different types of assets, long licensed and regulated separately, under one roof. SEC chair Atkins has come to refer to such companies as “super-apps”, and has frequently used crypto to justify the need for their existence.

What is a Super-App? SEC Chairman Paul Atkins explains the idea and how it would benefit investors. Check it out! pic.twitter.com/iqgVgp2pNv

— U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (@SECGov) August 25, 2025

During a speech at the Trump-aligned America First Policy Institute in July, Atkins hailed super-apps as a “key priority” of his chairmanship.

“A broker-dealer with an alternative trading system should be able to offer trading in non-security crypto assets alongside crypto asset securities, traditional securities, and other services, like crypto asset staking and lending, without requiring fifty-plus state licenses or multiple federal licenses,” Atkins said at the time.

Crypto leaders universally hailed the announcement as a massive boon for the industry and its positioning relative to traditional finance in years to come.

TikTok chef sparks debate after making pasta from scratch on airplane

by admin September 6, 2025

A chef is sparking a heated debate on social media after filming herself making pasta from scratch during a commercial flight.

“What’s the deal with airplane food?” Jerry Seinfeld’s famous line isn’t an uncommon sentiment among fliers, but one passenger hates it so much that she took drastic measures to avoid feasting on airplane fare.

Pasta aficionado and professional chef Kati Brooks, who goes by ‘buonapastaclub‘ on TikTok, has racked up over five million views in just one day after sharing a video of herself making her own gnocchi by hand at 30,000 feet in the sky.

Article continues after ad

In the video, she mixes the flour with water to make dough and shapes it into gnocchi with a special tool — all while sipping on a glass of red wine, of course.

“POV: You hate airplane food so you make it yourself,” she captioned the 32-second clip, writing in the description: “Anyone else?”

TikTok divided over chef making pasta mid-air

Unfortunately for Brooks, it doesn’t look like ‘anyone else’ could relate to her plight of hating airline food so much they make their own pasta. Commenters quickly pointed out how strange the situation must have been to her neighbor, while others offered far simpler suggestions for alternative eats.

Article continues after ad

“I mean, you could also pack a sandwich,” one user wrote.

“I don’t know how people don’t realize the airplane is the most unhygienic place,” another said.

“Great, now you just have raw gnocchi,” another pointed out.

At the time of writing, Brooks hasn’t yet responded to the comments about her latest TikTok clip — but that’s probably because she’s busy gearing up to release her very first cookbook, ‘Buona Pasta,’ named after the pasta shop her parents ran when she was growing up.

Brooks isn’t the only pasta-lover to go viral on social media; in 2024, an Instagram chef was dubbed a ‘monster’ for making pasta salad using a garbage bag to mix her concoction.

EA Sports Is No Longer Making A Basketball Game

by admin September 5, 2025

Electronic Arts is seemingly giving up on its plans to develop a new college basketball game and letting 2K Sports make one instead, according to a leaked email obtained by Extra Points.

A little background: In June, EA Sports teased online that it was developing a new college basketball game, which would have been the first from EA since 2009’s NCAA Basketball 10. So a lot of fans were excited about the news. However, there was a problem. 2K also had video game plans that involved college basketball teams and players. Unlike EA’s plan to develop a whole video game, 2K wants to create college basketball DLC for NBA 2K and/or a new mode in the game as a way of testing the waters for a full, standalone release later. And despite the College Licensing Company asking schools to sign EA’s deal, it was reported last month that many Division 1 schools were taking 2K’s deal instead. As a result, EA is taking its digital ball and leaving.

As reported by Extra Points on September 4, a leaked email from EA Sports VP of commercial licensing Sean O’Brien to multiple college licensing directors seems to indicate that the publisher is giving up on its plans. In the email, O’Brien wished the schools “good luck” while expressing that everyone at EA was “disappointed” that “some schools” were “choosing to accept” 2K’s deal.  Here’s the full email:

Hi…I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend.

Given there are some schools choosing to accept the 2K Sports proposal for inclusion in NBA 2K, the offer to be included in a college basketball video game will unfortunately have to be rescinded.

Everyone at EA SPORTS is disappointed that we all couldn’t find an acceptable path forward, but we appreciate your support in trying to bring a stand-alone college basketball game with all men’s and women’s Division 1 institutions and student athletes, conferences as well as the NCAA, in a way that fans have told us they want.  We really appreciate your support.

Good luck with back to school and an exciting start to the football season.

Thanks

Sean O’Brien
VP Commercial Partnerships & Licensing
EA SPORTS

Of course, it’s also possible that EA Sports purposely leaked this email to Extra Points in an attempt to use angry fans to pressure schools into accepting its game proposal. “See,” EA can say. “Blame 2K and the colleges for not letting us make a whole new game. Enjoy your DLC instead.” That’s pure speculation, but even if that wasn’t the plan, it’s likely that fans hoping for a new college basketball game in the future aren’t going to be happy that EA is giving up, while 2K is reportedly just doing DLC for NBA 2K.

Is this wild saga over? Will EA actually make a college basketball game after all? Will 2K get bullied into changing its plans? Who can say? But considering how well EA’s College Football 25 game sold last year and how much money a college basketball game could make, I imagine we haven’t seen the end of this.

Dell’s 15.6″ Laptop (32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) Is $2,200 Off With Accessories, Making It an Almost Free Bundle

by admin September 4, 2025

Nothing grabs consumer eyeballs like a bundle deal. But who could possibly avert their eyes when Amazon takes an elite-level touchscreen laptop like the Dell Inspiron 15 3535 and bundles it with Windows 11 Pro and a box of goodies including a stylus pen, camera privacy cover, and USB flash drive, and offers that $3,000 package for just $800?

The Dell Inspiron 15 3535 alone at that price is a steal, especially when you see how loaded this model is. It’s packed with 32GB of RAM and a fat 1TB solid-state drive, with the AMD Ryzen 7 processor at the heart of the machine to make everything run fast and smoothly. The bundle add-ons of usually sold-separately necessities like pre-installed Windows 11 Pro with Copilot, a protective sleeve, and 128GB USB flash drive are the clincher that make this deal truly amazing.

See at Amazon

No Shortcuts Taken

We know, bundle deals are often just the sweetener to sell an iffy product that doesn’t move units on its own. This is most definitely not that. The Dell Inspiron 15 3535 is a total beast, with a 15.6-inch touchscreen that’s also LED-backlit and full-HD (1920×1080 resolution) with a refresh rate of 60Hz. The screen takes up nearly all of the inside lid thanks to the slender borders. The AMD Ryzen 7 processor can really cook, with speeds of up to 4.5GHz at the ready.

The Dell Inspiron 15 3535 isn’t one of those thick, heavy old-school laptops that are a chiropractor’s nightmare when carried in a shoulder bag. It’s sleek and trim at just three-quarters of an inch thick with the lid closed, and the 3.6 pound weight isn’t going to drag you down. The anti-glare screen, HD webcam, and generous array of ports and connection options complete the package.

Meet Your Copilot

This bundle deal also does not skimp on the operating system, as Windows 11 Pro is preloaded and just a press of the power button away from launch. Pro is designed for business professionals and power users, packed with advanced security network management features. It also comes with Copilot, one of the very best of the huge recent wave of AI assistants. Copilot is a great source for quick, accurate research, and if you’re ever stuck on writing the perfect email or any other creative effort, Copilot is one of the best assistants around.

This incredible bundle is topped off with an accessories kit that includes a stylus pen (remember, the Inspiron is a touchscreen), privacy cover for the webcam, 128GB USB flash drive, laptop dust plug, protective sleeve, and microfiber cleaning cloth. These are all of the little incidentals that can run up a shockingly big bill as add-ons, and they’re free. Amazon’s $800 deal on this massively packed bundle is a killer 73%-off deal that brings you an elite-level laptop, OS, and accessory package at a savings of $2,200.
