As Long as I Have NotebookLM, I Don’t Need Any Other AI Tool

by admin June 11, 2025

If all artificial intelligence ever amounted to was Google’s NotebookLM in its current form, I’d be fine with it. OK, maybe bake in Gemini Live’s camera mode in one way or another first. Other than that, NotebookLM is the only AI tool I want or need.

I always appreciated the concept of what NotebookLM could do when it was first announced and enjoyed casually tinkering with it, but experiencing it in the real world — and at a time when I needed a tool like it to exist — solidified how awesome NotebookLM really is to me. It’s now my favorite AI tool, ever, and I’ve never used an AI tool as much.

Powered by Google’s Gemini AI, NotebookLM breaks down complex subjects into an easy-to-understand format and helps you brainstorm new ideas. There’s now a mobile app for iOS and Android, and new features were just announced during Google I/O last month. It keeps getting better without feeling like it’s becoming overstuffed with features just for the sake of it.

NotebookLM isn’t just Google Keep stuffed with AI, nor is it just a chatbot that can take notes. It’s both and neither. Instead of asking questions to Gemini, only for it to find an answer from the ether of the internet, NotebookLM will only search through the sources that you provide it. It’s a dead simple concept that feels like one of the most practical uses of AI, giving way to the perfect study buddy for classes or work. And Google didn’t stop there.

Now it can do so much more, and will reward your poking around to see what it can do for you. And features like its impressive Audio Overviews have since trickled down into Gemini itself, allowing it to be used in a much wider set of Google’s products.

Below, I’ll cover some of NotebookLM’s most interesting features (including the newly announced ones) and how it became one of my favorite AI tools to use.

For more, check out Google’s smart glasses plans with AndroidXR.

What is NotebookLM?

NotebookLM is a Gemini-powered note-taking and research assistant tool that can be used in a multitude of ways. It all starts with the sources you feed it, whether they’re webpage URLs, YouTube videos or audio clips, allowing you to pull multiple sources together into a cohesive package and bring some organization to your scattered thoughts or notes.

The most obvious use case for NotebookLM is using it for school or work. Think of it — you’ve kept up with countless classes and typed notes down for every one and even perhaps recorded some lectures. Sifting through everything individually can eventually get you to some semblance of understanding, but what if you could get them to work together?

Once you’ve uploaded your sources, Gemini will get to work to create an overall summary of the material. From there, you can begin asking Gemini questions about specific topics on the sources and information from the sources will be displayed in an easy-to-understand format. This alone may be enough for some people just looking to get the most out of their notes, but that’s really just scratching the surface.

Available for desktop and mobile

NotebookLM has been available for a while now on the desktop and is broken into a three-panel layout, consisting of Source, Chat and Studio panels. Both the Source and Studio panels are collapsible, so you can have a full-screen chat experience if you prefer.

While the Source and Chat panels are pretty self-explanatory, the Studio panel is where magic can happen (though some of the features can also be created directly from the Chat panel). This is where you can get the most out of your NotebookLM experience.

The NotebookLM app: Information alchemy in your pocket

The mobile app for Android and iOS launched the day before Google I/O 2025.

Those familiar with the desktop experience will feel right at home with the new mobile apps for iOS and Android. The streamlined app allows you to switch between the Source, Chat and Studio panels via a menu at the bottom. When you go to the view that shows all of your notebooks, you’ll see tabs for Recent, Shared, Title and Downloaded.

While not everything is on the app yet, it’s likely just a matter of time before it matches the web version’s full functionality.

Audio Overviews

If you didn’t hear about NotebookLM when it was first announced, you likely did when Audio Overviews were released for it. Once you have at least one source uploaded, you can then opt to generate an Audio Overview, which will provide a “deep dive” on the source material. These overviews are created by none other than Gemini, and it’s not just a quick summary of your material in audio format — it’s a full-blown podcast with two “hosts” that break down complex topics into easy-to-understand pieces of information. They’re incredibly effective, too, often asking each other questions to dismantle certain topics.

The default length of an Audio Overview will vary depending on how much material there is to go over and the complexity of the topic — though I’m sure there are other factors at play. In my testing, a very short piece of text created a five-minute audio clip, whereas two lengthier and more dense Google Docs documents I uploaded created an 18-minute Overview.

If you want a little more control on the length for your Audio Overview, you’re in luck. Announced in a blog post during Google I/O earlier this month, users now have three options to choose from: shorter, default and longer. This is perfect if you either want to have a short and dense podcast-like experience of if you want to get into the nitty gritty on a subject with a longer Audio Overview.

You can interact with your AI podcasters

It gets even better. Last December, NotebookLM got a new design and new ways to interact with Audio Overviews. The customize button allows you to guide the conversation so that key points are covered. Type in your directive and then generate your Audio Overview.

Now, if you want to make this feature even more interactive, you can choose the Interactive mode, which is still in beta, to join the conversation. The clip will play, and if you have a particular question in response to something that’s said, you can click the join button. Once you do, the speakers will pause and acknowledge your presence and ask you to chime in with thoughts or questions, and you’ll get a reply.

I wanted to try something a little different, so I threw in the lyrics of a song as the only source, and the AI podcast duo began to dismantle the motivations and emotions behind the words. I used the join feature to point out a detail in the lyrics they didn’t touch on, and the two began to dissect what my suggestion meant in the context of the writing. They then began linking the theme to other portions of the text. It was impressive to watch: They handled the emotional weight of the song so well, and tactfully at that.

Mind Maps

Generating a Mind Map is just one of several powerful features from NotebookLM.

Google/Screenshot by Blake Stimac

I’d heard interesting things about NotebookLM’s Mind Map feature, but I wanted to go in blind when I tried it out, so I did a separate test. I took roughly 1,500 words of Homer’s Odyssey and made that my only source. I then clicked the Mind Map button, and within seconds, an interactive and categorical breakdown of the text was displayed for me to poke around in.

Many of the broken-down sections had subsections for deeper dives, some of which were dedicated to single lines for dissection. Clicking on a category or end-point of the map will open the chat with a prefilled prompt.

I chose to dive into the line, “now without remedy,” and once clicked, the chat portion of NotebookLM reopened with the prefilled prompt, “Discuss what these sources say about Now without remedy, in the larger context of [the subsection] Alternative (worse).” The full line was displayed, including who said it, what it was in response to and any motivations (or other references) for why the line was said in the text.

Study guides and more

If the combination of all that Audio Overviews and Mind Maps could do sounds like everything a student might need for the perfect study buddy, NotebookLM has a few other features that will solidify it in that place.

Study guides

After you’ve uploaded a source, you can create a quick study guide based on the material that will automatically provide a document with a quiz, potential essay questions, a glossary of key terms and answers for the quiz at the bottom. And if you want, you can even convert the study guide into a source for your notebook.

FAQs

Whether you’re using it for school or want to create a FAQ page for your website, the NotebookLM button generates a series of potentially common questions based on your sources.

Timeline

If you’re looking for a play-by-play sort of timeline, it’s built right in. Creating a timeline for the Odyssey excerpt broke down main events in a bulleted list and placed them based on the times mentioned in the material. If an event takes place at an unspecified time, it will appear at the top of the timeline, stating this. A cast of characters for reference is also generated below the timeline of events.

Briefing document

The briefing document is just what it sounds like, giving you a quick snapshot of the key themes and important events to get someone up to speed. This will include specific quotes from the source and their location. A summary of the material is also created at the bottom of the document.

How NotebookLM really ‘sold’ me

I already really liked NotebookLM’s concept and execution during its 1.0 days, and revisiting the new features only strengthened my appreciation for it. My testing was mostly for fun and to see how this tool can flex, but using it when I “needed” it helped me really get an idea of how powerful it can be, even for simple things.

During a product briefing, I did my typical note-taking: Open a Google Doc, start typing in fragmented thoughts on key points, and hope I could translate what I meant when I needed to refer back to them. I knew I would also receive an official press release, so I wasn’t (too) worried about it, but I wanted to put NotebookLM to the test in a real-world situation when I was using it for real — and not just tinkering, when nearly anything seems impressive when it does what you tell it to.

I decided to create a new notebook and make my crude notes (which looked like a series of bad haikus at first glance) the only source, just to see what came out on the other end. Not only did NotebookLM fill in the blanks, but the overall summary read almost as well as the press release I received the following day. I was impressed. It felt like alchemy — NotebookLM took some fairly unintelligible language and didn’t just turn it into something passable, but rather, a pretty impressive description.

Funny enough, I’ve since become a more thorough note-taker, but I’m relieved to know I have something that can save the day if I need it to.

Video Overviews are on the way

Another feature that was announced during Google I/O was Video Overviews, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. There’s currently no time frame outside of “coming soon” from the blog post, but it should be a good way to get a more visual experience from your notebooks.

We’d previously heard that Video Overviews might be on the way, thanks to some sleuthing from Testing Catalog. The article also mentioned that the ability to make your notebooks publicly available and view an Editor’s Picks list of notebooks will eventually make their way to NotebookLM. The Editors Picks feature has yet to rear its head, but you can indeed now share notebooks directly or make them publicly available for anyone to access.

While we’re waiting on View Overviews, here’s a preview of one.

If you need more from NotebookLM, consider upgrading

Most people will likely never have the need to pay for NotebookLM, as the free version is robust enough. But if you’re using it for work and need to be able to add more sources or the option to share your notebook with multiple people, NotebookLM Plus is worth considering. It gives you more of everything while introducing more customization, additional privacy and security features as well as analytics. It’s worth noting that NotebookLM Plus will also be packaged in with Google’s new AI subscriptions.

See How Long A Switch 2 Can Survive Getting Smashed By A Hammer

by admin June 5, 2025

The Switch 2 is more powerful than its predecessor and a lot bigger, but can it take a beating? That’s what one YouTuber tried to find out, wasting absolutely no time before putting a stomach-churning beatdown on Nintendo’s new hardware.

Nintendo Switch 2 Could Launch With Almost No Reviews

TechRax’s YouTube channel is best known for smashing all sorts of high-end consumer electronics, usually iPhones and Apple Watches. Sometimes he throws golf balls at Tesla Cybertrucks. When he’s really feeling bored he pours laundry detergent into a car’s fuel tank just to feel something. Today, on June 5, as regular tech fans celebrate the launch of the Switch 2, TechRax decided to put the $450 console that fans spent hours standing in line for through a “durability test.” The results were hard to watch and minimally illuminating.

What kind of a beating can the Switch 2 survive? That was the question TechRax answered in his latest video. First he dropped it on the floor. No damage. So far so good! Then he pulled out a razor blade and scored the middle of the screen. “That was a big scratch line and that’s not coming off, so guys this is not like an iPhone 16 Pro or something. If you do something like that, that’s it, you are toast,” he said before cutting it a second time just to be sure.

Next, rather than pressing the buttons on the Joy-Con to release them from their magnetic grip slots on the sides of the Switch 2, he bent them until they snapped off. He did it multiple times and much to my surprise, despite the heart-stopping snapping sound, neither part of the connector appeared to be damaged. Good news for everyone whose kids are going to bend and flex the new Joy-Con a dozen times a week.

Finally, after successfully bending the metal hinge kickstand, TechRax concluded his survey with the hammer test. What is the hammer test? Exactly what it sounds like. First he drops a metal hammer onto the screen. Then he does it a second time from higher up. Eventually he just starts whacking it until the screen cracks. The Switch 2’s new LCD screen stood its ground until hammer blow number 10. Not bad. Not bad at all. But if you see TechRax coming into your store, please don’t sell him any more Switch 2s.

SteamDB changes might finally herald the end of a long wait for Silksong (again), though with SGF on the horizon, I think Team Cherry has the potential to do the funniest thing of all time

by admin June 3, 2025

Every time I write about Silksong, I feel as though I’m inching closer to an abyss of madness from which there is no return. Each article starts the same—a rite for the uninitiated, an explanation that yes, this game really was announced in 2019, and yes, it really was stated to be coming out “in the next 12 months” in 2022, and yes, fan hopefuls really did wait three more years for a hilariously short clip in a 2025 Nintendo direct promising a release date this year with zero other specifics.

Now, from the bottom of a well of conspiracy, a scrap comes tumbling down the cobbled walls: There’ve been more SteamDB changes that… wait holy crap, these might actually mean something.

As spotted by eagle-eyed industry buff Wario64 on X, several SteamDB updates have been published for Hollow Knight: Silksong, which have quickly gained traction as a deep hit of hopium on the unfailingly unhinged subreddit, with nary a “silkpost” flair in sight.

You may like

The main meat is the introduction of achievement languages, which are a pretty good sign the game’s nearing completion—you generally don’t decide what achievements are going to be notable, then translate them unless you’re pretty certain you won’t be making any more structural changes to your game.

Even more hype came down the pipeline when some depots changed. A depot, as explained by the Steamworks documentation, is “a logical grouping of files which are all delivered to a customer as a single group”, which then gets “downloaded and ‘mounted’ on their local drive” when you download a game. The last time one of these depots changed was in 2019, when the game was first announced.

While I don’t think user HHrnz, who spotted the change, is exactly right when they say “This is pretty much confirmation that the game is complete and ready to have its release date announced,” it is a sign that something is going on. And as a resolute skonger, something is always able to be everything.

I’m about to call an utterly unfounded shot, with zero basis in reality and all the hope of someone shouting ‘Kobe!’ from halfway down the court, but, just think about it—Summer Games Fest is coming up. Heaps upon heaps of trailers and events and showcases. What is the funniest thing that Team Cherry could possibly do after six entire years of anticipation?

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

A shadow drop. Just… put it out there. After all, who needs pithy things like press releases or developer diaries when you’ve got a swarm of feverish hollows clamouring for your next game? The Switch 2 is here. The ground is ripe, and the marketing does itself in a resounding swarm of skong.

James Wynn offloads $4.12M HYPE and takes another $100M 40x-leveraged long bet on Bitcoin

by admin June 2, 2025

Despite almost $100M loss last week, James Wynn is back in the game, having recently sold $4.12M worth of HYPE for over $1M profit and then opened a new 945 BTC long position with 40x leverage.

According to Lookonchain, James Wynn recently unstaked 126,116 Hyperliquid (HYPE) — worth around $4.12M —and sold all of them at $32.7. Wynn originally bought these HYPE tokens on May 9 and May 12 at an average price of $24.4, which marks his profit at around $1.05M. However, this pales in comparison to the $99 million Wynn lost over the past week.

According to on-chain analytics platform Spot On Chain, the journey that resulted in almost $100 million loss began with Wynn building a series of highly leveraged positions that initially performed well.

Between March 20 and May 23, he accumulated a total profit of $83 million through a series of high-leverage trades, including a 10x long on (Pepe) PEPE with $23.8 million in unrealized gains, a 10x long on Trump (TRUMP) with $6.83 million realized, and a 5x long on Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) with $4.48 million realized. On May 22, his largest position—a $1.14 billion long on Bitcoin (BTC)—was up $39 million.

On May 24, Wynn doubled down on his BTC long, raising the position to $1.25 billion. Within hours, that trade was down $13.4 million. The next day, May 25, he reversed to a $1 billion BTC short, which resulted in a $15.87 million loss over 15 hours.

On May 30, as BTC dropped below $105K, Wynn was liquidated for 949 BTC, worth approximately $99.3 million at the time. After factoring in all positions and liquidations, Wynn’s net performance flipped from +$83 million to approximately -$12 million within seven days.

Source: @spotonchain

Undeterred by these losses, Wynn is back in the game, having just opened another long BTC position of 945 $BTC ($99.7M) with 40x leverage. With the initial margin at $2,177,955.53, his initial liquidation price was $104,577. However, he recently deposited another $400,000 as margin, with the new liquidation price is $104,151— less than 1% away from the current price.

Following this bet, Wynn urged his X followers to support him by buying Bitcoin. Apparently, Wynn believes that he — along with other retail traders holding highly leveraged longs on the Hyperliquid platform — are being hunted by crypto whales who are trying to liquidate them.

“The moment I entered my long the insta hunted me. There is an agenda here and I don’t know what it is. It can’t be just my long, maybe it’s because I’m a fish playing a whales game or maybe it’s because I’m bringing attention to Hyper Liquid,” he wrote.

Elden Ring Nightreign: How Long To Beat

by admin June 1, 2025

Elden Ring was a massive open-world game that stretched well beyond what many of us expected back in 2022; and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC even added dozens more hours of fun. Elden Ring Nightreign, on the other hand, is a multiplayer roguelike game with a smaller scope and more focused, action-packed gameplay loop designed to keep you and some friends trying its limited expeditions again and again (and again).

The Most Sought After Elden Ring Sword Has A Storied History

Read More: Nightreign Explodes On Steam But Is Getting Cooked In The Reviews

As such, you’re not going to find seemingly endless new encounters or areas to explore within this entry in the franchise. Instead, you’ll find that the game is lengthy in an entirely different way, demanding hours and hours of dedication and an acceptance that failure and repetition are part of the game’s design. Here’s what to know about the amount of gameplay you’ll find in Elden Ring: Nightreign.

How long is Elden Ring Nightreign?

Elden Ring Nightreign is a challenging game that requires a lot of strategy and teamwork, so how long it takes to beat will vary greatly from person to person. Your success in this ultra-challenging multiplayer roguelike depends greatly on learning the best spots on the map for getting what you need, adapting to ever-changing scenarios, and leveraging your chosen character’s unique skillset.

With all of this in mind, it’s difficult to tell you just how long you’ll spend in Elden Ring Nightreign. As you set off on your initial few expeditions, success can seem nearly impossible. And whether or not you begin to find a groove is, again, dependent on your patience, adaptability, and skill.

Some folks may take dozens of hours playing a single expedition, while a really solid group with high skill and a bit of luck may complete it on their first try. Completing every expedition and tackling the true final boss of the game can take anywhere from 25-40 hours for veteran players, and those who struggle with these types of games (or have particularly bad luck) could see their game time stretched to upwards of 60 hours.

Of course, all of this is just to complete each of the expeditions once, which is barely scratching the surface of Elden Ring Nightreign. Completionists will find there are a handful of questlines tied to each of the characters that require you to finish certain expeditions or complete specific things on the world map. And there are enough trophies and achievements to keep diehards busy for many additional hours.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to tackle Elden Ring Nightreign ,you can grab it now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PCs.

The battle to play Borderlands Online continues, as dedicated archivists ask for help in pursuit of the long lost MMO

The battle to play Borderlands Online continues, as dedicated archivists ask for help in pursuit of the long lost MMO

by admin May 30, 2025

The Borderlands Online archival saga continues, with the small group of people hoping to get the game playable putting out a call-to-action for those with coding experience (specifically with software like DNSpy and Unity Ripper) in order to break through the game’s character selection screen.

Previously, we covered YouTuber, game designer, and dataminer EpicNNG managing to get to the game’s class selection screen, but it seems he and his small team working on the archival project have hit a brick wall. Not in terms of skill, but in terms of time. They have a version of the game at their finger tips, they just need more hands to get the build working. He states: “Number 1: We know that we have the full game, we have confirmed we have the full game. Number 2: We know that we can get in eventually, it is just a matter of when.”

Manage cookie settings

In this call-to-action, a lengthy video detailing the journey so far, EpicNNG showed the perilous task as his small team went through old Chinese Borderlands Online websites in the search for a way to actually play the game. Doing so, they found ghost links and viruses, so it’s worth emphasising here that you should only really help out with this effort if you know what you’re doing.

The video is covered in statements making it clear that this is purely for archival purposes, and that he nor his team are looking to infringe on 2K’s intelectual property as to avoid the possibility of a cease and desist. However, it’s made equally clear that this project may be nearing a dead end thanks to the release of Borderlands 4 and the potential actions of 2K’s legal team, unless it gets more people on board to help. It’s worth noting that this article was only written following an exchange of DMs with EpicNNG, in which he stated that he understood the potential risks of this call-to-action being further publicised and was happy with it being covered nonetheless.

In the video, EpicNNG acknowledges that time is of the essence here, pointing to Activision’s take down of the H2M Call of Duty mod in fears it would suck attention away from the next Call of Duty. The worry is that, unless the team gets the game working soon, 2K would fear a similar thing with Borderlands 4 and send out a Cease and Desist.

This archival project, if successful, would be somewhat of a white whale for the video game archival scene. Not only is archiving any game difficult, Borderlands Online is a Chinese-only MMORPG that has been dead for years. Getting it working is an admirable goal. Here’s hoping that folks that can help see it and lend a hand before it’s too late. Though, if you’re a greenthumb when it comes to Unity or video game software in general, maybe it’s best to leave it with the experts and wish them luck.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 didn’t invent Final Frenchtasy or the J’RPG: the newly dubbed subgenre has a long and complicated history

by admin May 30, 2025

Sometimes all it takes to make a new subgenre is an apostrophe. With just one hardworking punctuation mark, the newly christened J’RPG describes a refreshingly French spin on Japanese turn-based roleplaying games, and players can’t get enough of its irresistible je ne sais quoi.

J’RPG is a particularly brilliant fit for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Sandfall Interactive’s tale of saving dark-fantasy Paris from a series of increasingly unhappy birthdays boasts whimsical mimes, gilded Belle Epoque architecture, and an English voice cast able to drop merde and putain like they’re in a Marseille rap battle. But Sandfall’s debut—undeniably, spectacularly, proudly French—is just the latest title to deserve the name J’RPG.

Last year’s Sea of Stars, which just released its free DLC Throes of the Watchmaker, was made by French-Canadian Sabotage Studios in Quebec. While you won’t spot Québécois famous landmarks like the Château Frontenac hotel recreated in pixel art to answer Clair Obscur’s crumpled Eiffel Tower, you will find Gaëtan Piment, a character who speaks entirely in the regional French dialect (there’s even a French Canadian language option), phoenix down replaced by poutine as must-have revives, and groan-worthy French puns whenever you discover a new enemy.

You may like

These J’RPGs may share Francophone origins, but they’re two sides of the same coin. Clair Obscur’s influences are 3D JRPGs: its combat systems, environment design and kaleidoscopic UI effects infused with the DNA of Final Fantasy 7–10, Lost Odyssey, and Persona’s PlayStation 2 and later entries. Sea of Stars looks further back to the 16-bit era, evoking the lush pixel art of Chrono Trigger and timed attacks of Super Mario RPG, with thoughtful modernisations to take the sting from bugbears like MP management and level grinding.

There’s a simple reason for that crucial difference: The Great JRPG Divide. Sabotage Studios’ Canadians grew up immersed in the SNES JRPG golden age. Due to the cost of translating text-heavy scripts to multiple languages, Sandfall Interactive didn’t. Europe, and other PAL regions like Australia, existed in a parallel timeline.

If you didn’t have a chipped console and an import-savvy retailer you were out of luck. We didn’t play Chrono Trigger and Earthbound on the SNES, we got them a decade later on the DS and Wii U. Our first Final Fantasy was number 7. Our first Dragon Quest was the cel-shaded eighth instalment on the PS2. Thanks to magazines, enthusiasts knew about these fabled videogames, but broader awareness was non-existent. Culturally we were cut adrift—like Clair Obscur’s city of Lumiere, tragically separated from the mainland.

Of course this meant when a wave of indie developers made nostalgic 16-bit JRPG homages, they came from North Americans inspired by the SNES JRPG canon we Europeans mostly missed. Californian Zeboyd Games made some pretty excellent retro JRPGs like Lovecraft parody Cthulhu Saves the World and space opera Cosmic Star Heroine in the 2010s. Shadows of Adam in 2016 played Conan-esque fantasy reasonably straight, but some like Omocat’s 2020 hikikomori horror RPG Omori pushed the genre towards its conceptual limits. With Threads of Time in the works from a Toronto-based team, the North American 2D JRPG homages are far from over.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

French-speaking Europeans still left a mark on the 2D RPG scene, though. Thanks to its impressively easy-to-use nature, the 2D game engine RPG Maker had a strong Francophone community across both Canada and Europe in the mid 2000s. It’s just that without the formative impact of 16-bit classics Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy 1–6, European 2D games followed a different evolutionary path.

OFF, from the French-speaking Belgian team Unproductive Fun Time, became one of the French RPG Maker scene’s biggest successes in 2008, even admired by Undertale’s Toby Fox. This fever dream of an RPG has an unusual cooldown-driven combat system, plus an eclectic set of influences including Killer 7’s lurid fluorescent colour palette and Silent Hill 2’s disturbing monster designs. With a remaster due later in 2025, it’s another J’RPG to watch out for this year.

A more recent RPG Maker example came out in 2023. Black-and-white timeloop RPG In Stars and Time was made by creator Adrienne Bazir, whose French upbringing shows. Chrono Trigger would usually be the obvious reference point for a 2D timeloop RPG, but Bazir’s influences are instead Gamecube classic Tales of Symphonia, Undertale, and a game Nintendo denied both PAL and NTSC regions: Mother 3. The result, like OFF, is a true original, a moving and inventive experience, remixing the age-old ATB combat system devised by Mr Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi with an equipment system using memories from past runs.

Clair Obscur’s AA western take on the 3D JRPG stands out because it looks expensive in comparison. Recording every one of Gustave’s gallic shrugs in motion capture doesn’t come cheap, and presumably neither does his voice actor Charlie Cox. Perhaps another factor in its rarity is how Northern American developers gave the western JRPG a mixed reputation, with Ion Storm’s enjoyably barmy 2001 effort Anachronox and BioWare’s biggest non-live service regret Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood both considered failures. For me, it’s a point of pride that Europeans, locked out from much of JRPG history, were the ones to finally do the 3D era justice.

Back in the ’90s, it sucked being an JRPG fan in PAL regions. It felt like watching North America enjoy a party we weren’t invited to. Decades later, those quirks of regional distribution are producing wonderfully distinctive takes on a classic genre. The Great JRPG Divide may be over, but its influence is still with us—even if we’re still waiting for Xenogears to get that unbelievably overdue official release.

Solana's 18 Month Long Bull Run Against Ether is Over; XRP Ends Mini-Uptrend

by admin May 29, 2025

This is a daily technical analysis by CoinDesk analyst and Chartered Market Technician Omkar Godbole.

Programmable blockchain Solana is on course to flip its rival and leading smart contract blockchain Ethereum in terms of market capitalization, several observers have said it in recent months.

However, for now, Ethereum's native token ether ETH seems to have an upper hand over Solana's SOL SOL , according to technical analysis.

The SOL/ETH ratio has dived out of an upward sloping trendline connecting lows in September 2023, June 2024 and December 2024, per data source TradingView. In other words, tables have turned in ETH's favor and the token could outperform SOL in the near-term.

Additionally, the weekly chart MACD histogram is printing red, indicating a strengthening of the downside momentum.

The immediate support is seen at 0.055 (the Feb. 25 low). The pair needs to move back above the Ichimoku cloud to negate the SOL bearish outlook.

XRP loses uptrend

Another coin showing a shift in market trend is XRP, the cryptocurrency designed for cross-border payments.

XRP has dived out of a bullish ascending channel, marking the recovery from the early April lows near $1.6.

The breakdown has exposed support at $2, which acted as floor several times early this year. Should the buyers fail to defend that, a deeper slide to $1.60 could be seen.

On the higher side, the recent high of $2.65 is the level to beat for the bulls.

What Happened To The Bitcoin Whale Who Opened $1 Billion Long And Short Positions?

James Wynn, a crypto trader who has been sharing his positions on the X (formerly Twitter) platform, has quickly become popular after his large Bitcoin positions went viral. So far, James has opened multiple billion-dollar positions and has garnered a large following after his admirable win rate. The crypto trader has also managed to cross in 8-figure territory in terms of gains. Two of his latest trades have caught attention, and this report takes a look at how the trader has managed these positions.

Billion-Dollar Bitcoin Long And Short Positions

While James Wynn had been gaining a lot of attention for being a top 5 trader on the Hyperliquid platform in terms of PNL, his most recent round of trades have garnered even more attention. Last week, the crypto trader stunned the community when he opened a $1.2 billion long position, with 40x leverage. With a close liquidation price of $105,179, this seemed to be a risky position, and as the Bitcoin price fluctuated, so did the PNL of the position.

As the Bitcoin price moved lower toward the weekend, the trader would close this billion-dollar long position for a $13.4 million loss. After this, James Wynn quickly flipped directions and placed another billion-dollar perp position, but this time in favor of the Bitcoin price going down.

With an entry price sitting just above $107, this would prove to be a fatal decision for the trader as the Bitcoin price began to move upward. Once again, Wynn was forced to close this massive perp position, resulting in a heavier loss of $15.87 million. In total, the perp trader lost almost $28 million in a 24-hour period, according to Hyperliquid data.

What’s Next For James Wynn?

Following the closure of his short position, James Wynn took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the situation. In the post, he explained that after the massive losses, he was looking at no longer playing at perps anymore. Additionally, he revealed that despite the losses, he remains $25 million in the green after starting with a $3-$4 million initial position.

The post drew speculation from the crypto community, with some arguing that the crypto trader would not just stop trading. This proved to be right as only hours later, Wynn was back on Hyperliquid to place multiple bets on new positions.

The crypto trader initially focused on longing PEPE, which has been one of his most profitable coins to trade, earning him over $25 million in profit. He soon opened another Bitcoin long position with an entry price of $109,733.

At the time of writing, James has closed his PEPE position after almost getting liquidated as the Bitcoin price plummed. The Bitcoin long position remains, but has been reduced by half to $439 million. In total, the trader took a $4.4 million loss already, and his Bitcoin position remains shaky at a -$4.12 million loss.

$115,000 Next? 7,000,000,000 Pepe (PEPE) Long Is Born, Dogecoin (DOGE) Short-Term Rally Incoming?

by admin May 27, 2025

  • Pepe seeing more strength
  • Dogecoin is aligned

As it consolidates just below the $110,000 mark, Bitcoin’s price action continues to defy gravity and hold fast to its recent gains. Bitcoin has successfully turned a key resistance level around $103,000 into support over the last few weeks, putting the asset on a bullish trajectory that looks promising.

With the next target firmly set at $115,000, the price structure makes it evident that the market is getting ready for another leg up. Moving average convergence, especially the golden cross — the 50-day EMA crossing above the 200-day EMA — is a crucial technical element supporting Bitcoin’s current configuration. The golden cross has long been a dependable bullish indicator. Such a cross usually marks the conclusion of a bearish cycle and the start of a longer-term rally, which raises the possibility that Bitcoin’s new uptrend is just getting started.

A market that is far from overheated is also indicated by volume data and RSI indicators. The fact that the RSI is still slightly below 70 despite the price’s remarkable move suggests that more upward momentum is possible before we reach the usual overbought area.

Although the $115,000 goal may appear lofty, Bitcoin has repeatedly demonstrated that these goals are easily attainable once momentum starts to build. Bitcoin may even be aiming for a new all-time high in the upcoming months, as indicated by the market’s supportive structure and the clear breakout above prior resistance.

Short-term consolidation periods may be experienced by the price, but the technical setup and general market sentiment strongly favor additional gains. Two important levels to keep an eye on are the short-term trendline that has been sustaining this upward move and the immediate support at about $103,000.

Pepe seeing more strength

Top-tier traders opened huge long positions in Pepe, putting the cryptocurrency once again at the forefront of attention on the charts. It is not surprising that this daring move has begun to ripple throughout the market, pushing the price higher even as other market conditions remain relatively muted given that a massive 7,000,000,000 PEPE position was placed using 10x leverage.

During a brief but noticeable upswing, Pepe’s price has managed to recover to $0.00001382 as of press time. Some top traders like James Wynn already have $130,000 in unrealized profit on this enormous leveraged bet; it is the primary driver of this abrupt uptick even though the larger cryptocurrency market has not shown any notable catalysts for Pepe’s spike.

Pepe had been in a sort of consolidation phase around the $0.00001300 area, with price action coiling up for a possible breakout, according to a quick look at the charts. Before the market gets overbought, there may be more upside momentum, according to the RSI hovering around 60.

The possibility of another leg up if the momentum continues is supported by moving averages, particularly the convergence of the 50-day and 100-day EMAs. It is important to note that this spike appears to be more the result of one trader’s assertive positioning than of any significant adjustments made to the project itself. The moves accompanying the volume spike also appear to support the short-term effects of this large long wager rather than general bullish sentiment for Pepe on the market.

Pepe’s price may experience more volatility and some quick swings if this wager is successful on the overall market. As of right now, however, the seven billion PEPE long has undoubtedly made waves and may continue to do so in the days ahead.

Dogecoin is aligned

As important technical indicators begin to align, Dogecoin (DOGE) appears to be preparing for an intriguing short-term rally. DOGE is currently trading at about $0.224, having recovered from its lower support level at $0.217. The moving average’s convergence is whats most noticeable in this case; the 50-100 and 200-day EMAs are all attracting one another like magnets.

A major volatility breakout frequently comes before this type of convergence. The price has been consolidated below the 200 EMA (black line) on the chart, where it has been trapped in a rather narrow range for a number of weeks. This has limited any bullish momentum thus far, but the convergent averages indicate that the market is getting ready to make a quick decision. Prior to the coin becoming overbought, there may still be some upside potential, as indicated by the RSI’s proximity to 60.

Volume data indicates that activity has recently increased, suggesting that traders are rekindling their interest. The 50 EMA and 100 EMA are encroaching on one another, and a golden cross may happen soon. A steep upward move could be possible if this scenario materializes with short-term targets at $0.26 and possibly even $0.30 if momentum increases.

Any rally here, of course, depends on the market as a whole not collapsing again; in order for altcoins like DOGE to have their chance, both Ethereum and Bitcoin must remain stable. However, for the time being, the volume buildup and the convergence of moving averages is a tried-and-true formula for a brief Dogecoin rally. Because such setups rarely remain quiet for long, traders should keep an eye out for a strong move soon.
