‘Silksong lol’: CloverPit devs delay the slot machine Balatro-like by 23 days to escape the blast radius of Silksong’s launch

by admin August 22, 2025

You know what they say: The best laid plans of mice and men sometimes get abruptly derailed by a surprise launch announcement. Thanks to yesterday’s reveal that Silksong’s release date is only two weeks away, CloverPit developer Panik Arcade has decided to push back the launch of the slot machine roguelite to dodge the all-consuming attention singularity that we can safely expect the Hollow Knight sequel to be.

Panik Arcade announced the change of plans in a Steam news post titled “We have to delay CloverPit a bit (Silksong lol)!” Rather than its original release date of September 3, CloverPit will now launch on September 26.

“Silksong is the most anticipated and wishlisted game on all of Steam and we think people will love this game and play it right at launch (including us) but that also means it will overshadow all games launching close to it,” Panik Arcade said. “So if we stick to our original date we would risk the launch of CloverPit a fair bit.”

Related articles

My sympathies go out to any devteam that’s had to reevaluate their launch plans after unknowingly choosing a release date within the Silksong gravity well, but CloverPit’s case is particularly tragic: Its original release date was announced just nine days ago. It had a delightful trailer to go along with it and everything. Luckily, Panik Arcade seems to be taking it in stride.

“We poured our hearts into our little game so of course we want to give it the best possible shot,” Panik Arcade said. “We hope you can understand—we’ll use the extra time of course to polish the game even further and we hope for your support at launch either way.”

After playing the CloverPit demo, I’m eager to get my hands on the full version whether it launches in 12 days or 35. It’s got that Balatro-style multiplier-stacking juice, a magnificently grody aesthetic, and an understanding that gambling is the enterprise of hungry, uncaring devils. Plus, it makes fun lights when you win! If it means CloverPit gets a better shot at its time in the spotlight, I’m content with a slightly longer wait.

CloverPit launches on Steam on September 26. Hopefully we’ll all have recovered from the collective Silksong mania by then.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

LoL free champion rotation (June 10 to 17)

by admin June 10, 2025

It would take hundreds, maybe thousands, of hours playing League of Legends to collect every champion without spending hard-earned cash by the truckload. That’s why Riot Games gives away weekly free champions, so you can try them out before committing to buying any.

Every Tuesday, 20 out of the 170 total League champions are selected to become free-to-play in unranked playlists. Here are this week’s free champions

League of Legends free champion rotation

It’s another week in League, and you can play 20 new champions for free. This week’s champion rotation list includes a bear, a scarecrow, and a little girl—so there’s something for everyone. The champions crushing it on the Rift, who you can try for free this week, are Kayle, Volibear, and Singed.

While these are only a few of the free champions, below is a full list of the 20 free champions you can try this week in League:

  • Cho’Gath
  • Ekko
  • Evelynn
  • Fiddlesticks
  • Heimerdinger
  • Hwei
  • Irelia
  • Jayce
  • Jhin
  • Karma
  • Nami
  • Shyvana
  • Singed
  • Thresh
  • Tristana
  • Twisted Fate
  • Twitch
  • Udyr
  • Volibear
  • Zoe

If you’re new to League and unsure where to start, try Karma or Cho’Gath. They’re both relatively simple champions. Riot will update the free-play rotation again on June 17, adding 20 more characters. Any debuting League champions are added three weeks after release.

This ultra-rare Riven skin just resurfaced after RohanGod’s incredible LoL achievement

by admin June 6, 2025

After reaching the highest rank in every Riot Games title, RohanGod has been rewarded with a piece of League of Legends history few thought would ever return—the 2012 Championship Riven skin.

While most League players struggle to reach the highest rank, this player has achieved it in all the other Riot-developed titles: VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra. This is an impressive feat, encompassing various game genres, including MOBA, FPS, card games, and auto battlers, which serves as a testament to their gaming skills.

It’s priceless! Image via Riot Games

Championship Riven is often cited alongside PAX skins and Black Alistar as one of the rarest skins in the game. It debuted back in 2012 as the first championship skin after Worlds. It was sold for a week, and it never came back. It had a unique shape for the Riven sword, making it a rare and one-of-a-kind cosmetic only owned by players who’ve been playing the game since the early days.

While Riot brought back the other championship skins for players in Worlds, Riven’s skin never returned, and it became a topic of discussion ever since.

Finally, the developer reintroduced the Championship Riven skin in 2016 but with a key difference: the champion’s new skin didn’t feature a crown on the head. To preserve the exclusivity of the 2012 skin, existing owners of the original skins also got a special loading screen border, exclusive summoner icon, and an updated version of the skin itself, making it almost priceless in the community.

“I wanted this more than any material object when I was a kid. [I] really just don’t know what to say except for thank you,” RohanGod said on his X (formerly Twitter) account. According to the player, he has also achieved the highest rank in other popular multiplayer games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Marvel Rivals, and many more.

If the developer continues down this path of rewarding cross-title achievements with ultra-rare cosmetics, it could mark a new era of recognition across the Riot ecosystem.

YGG Launches New Publishing Arm, Debuts First Game ‘LOL Land’

by admin May 23, 2025

In brief

  • Yield Guild Games has launched a new publishing division, YGG Play, focused on casual, crypto-native titles it dubs “Casual Degen” games.
  • Its first release, LOL Land, is a browser-based board game that features Pudgy Penguins community characters and offers token-based rewards.
  • The game has launched exclusively on Pudgy Penguins’ Abstract Chain and has received over 100,000 pre-registrations ahead of release, according to YGG.

After four years of watching Web3 games struggle to find their audience, Yield Guild Games decided the industry had to rethink how it matches players with the kind of games they’re actually in for: lighthearted chaos, in a “casual degen” vibe.

Instead of chasing broad mainstream adoption, the guild protocol launched YGG Play, a new game publishing unit dedicated to games that embrace the degen culture, with LOL Land, a web browser-based game explicitly designed for crypto-native players who live in the proverbial trenches.

“People play casual games on their phones while commuting, waiting in line, or taking a break,” Gabby Dizon, co-founder of YGG, told Decrypt. “They do it for fun as well as rewards like streaks, badges, or collectibles. And they happily spend a lot of real money on those games.”

Through its years of establishing a foothold with Web3 gamers by pioneering the so-called “play-to-earn” movement from 2020, YGG has learned “what’s fun, what works and what doesn’t,” leading it to develop “some very strong opinions on how to best serve the crypto market,” Dizon explained in a separate statement shared with Decrypt.

The move represents a strategic shift for YGG from investing in Web3 games to creating them directly. Rather than targeting mainstream gamers, the guild is focusing on crypto-native users who trade memecoins, mint NFTs, and engage in speculative activities.

The new game, LOL Land, features four thematic boards, including YGG City, Beach Day, Carnival, and Ice World Wonderland, which showcases Pudgy Penguins IP with playable characters based on community members like Aaron Teng and Rusk0f.

The game offers two distinct gameplay modes. Free play provides unlimited rolls without token rewards, while premium mode requires purchasing rolls to earn points redeemable for YGG tokens from a $10 million prize pool.

The browser-based board game surpassed 100,000 pre-registrations before launching exclusively on Abstract Chain, according to YGG.

For LOL Land, players can “earn YGG tokens and [you] can use them to claim NFTs,” Dizon explained.

The game draws directly from Dizon’s experience in casual games and his experience in Web3 gaming thereafter.

“Before getting into crypto and founding YGG, I was a game developer for a little bit over 20 years,” Dizon shared with Decrypt. “I was making casual games for much of my career.”

Degens over mass market

The publishing strategy deliberately targets crypto enthusiasts rather than attempting to onboard traditional gamers. Dizon argues this approach addresses an underserved market segment larger than hardcore Web3 gaming.

“If you look at people who are trading memecoins, minting NFTs, or trading on exchanges, these are people that you can consider to be possible players under the ‘Casual Degen’ label,” Dizon said.

Asked about how he thinks Web3 games could last, Dizon, who claims to prefer playing single-player RPGs like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, told Decrypt it’s a matter of perseverance.

“I do think that Web3 games can have a lasting impact on people,” he said. “It’s hard to make games in general. It’s even harder to make games that have new technology and figure out what the right format is for that technology, for people to use it.

Here are the early LoL Patch 25.11 notes

by admin May 21, 2025

League of Legends has reached a rare “steady state” of balance with the last patch that Riot Games have introduced on the live servers, and they’re making small buffs and nerfs in the upcoming update to help champions stay healthy ahead of the MSI 2025.

League also showcases the Ionia-themed Summoner’s Rift this season, a region which is known for its balance and spirit realm. While there aren’t many rogue champions in the current meta, the developers are still keeping a close eye on champions who could use minor adjustments to make them relevant.

When does LoL Patch 25.11 release?

League updates usually release on Wednesdays, and it is the same for every upcoming patch. They usually come ahead of time on the PBE servers and then make their way to the live one. The patch 25.11 update is scheduled for May 28, 2025. While the official release times across all regions have yet to be confirmed, the expected release windows for each region are as follows:

  • 3pm CT (NA)
  • 5am GMT (EU West)
  • 3am CET (EU North East)
  • 8am KR (Korea)

What’s in Patch 25.11?

League is celebrating Pride. Image via Riot Games

While the last patch brought a myriad of changes to the mage items, this one’s fairly quiet on new changes, as it takes up champions like Rengar, Twitch, and other champions and gives them buffs. On the other hand, there are a few champions like Cho’Gath and Smolder, who got a bit too much power from the last patch, so Riot is giving them small nerfs to nullify their impact. Lastly, Kassadin, Samira and some other champions are getting some neutral changes without buffs and nerfs.

Champion buffs

The following champions will all be receiving buffs in League Patch 25.11:

Ashe

  • [Q] Ranger’s Focus: Now stacks when attacking structures.

Diana (Jungle)

She was very reliant on Liandrys, and she’s getting a little buff now to compensate for the changes to it.

  • [P] Moonsilver Blade: Monster mod increased from 2.25 to 2.6.

Rengar

  • [R] Thrill of the Hunt: Cooldown has been reduced from 110/100/90 to 100/90/80.

Ryze

  • [Q] Overload: Damage against Flux targets (based on R rank) has been increased from 10/40/70/100 percent to 35/50/75/100 percent.
  • [W] Rune Prison: Damage deceased from 80-200 to 70-190.

Sivir

  • [W] Ricochet: Total AD ratio has been increased from 30-50 to 40-50 percent.

Twisted Fate

  • [Q] Wild Cards: Damage increased from 60-240 to 70-240.

Twitch

The changes aim to steer AP Twitch toward farming lanes rather than being a support, improving his viability slightly while keeping him balanced overall. He remains a bit weak, but he isn’t out of the meta.

  • [E] Contaminate: AP ratio per stack has been increased from 30 to 35 percent.

Udyr

He was very reliant on Liandrys, and getting a little buff now to compensate for the changes to it.

[R] Wingborne Storm

  • Bonus damage on attack has been increased from 10-30+ 30 percent AP to 10-40+ 35 percent AP.
  • Total damage has been increased from 80-360 to 80-400.

Champion nerfs

The following champions will all be receiving nerfs in League Patch 25.11:

Cho’Gath

Armor growth has been reduced from 5.0 to 4.5.

Elise

  • [P] Spider Queen: On-hit AP ratio has decreased from .2 to .15.

Lucian

  • [E] Relentless Pursuit: Cooldown has been increased from 14-12 to 16-12.

Smolder

  • HP regen has been decreased from 4.5 to 3.75.
  • Armor has been reduced from 26 to 24.

Champion adjustments

The following champions will all be receiving adjustments in League Patch 25.11:

Aatrox

  • [P] Deathbringer Stance: Damage decreased from 4-12 percent max HP to 4-8 percent max HP.
  • [Q] The Darkin Blade: Sweet spot damage mod has been increased from 1.6x to 1.7x.
  • [W] Infernal Chains: Damage type has been changed from Magic to Physical.

Annie

  • Armor has been adjusted from 19+ 4.7 to 23+ 4.0.
  • [W] Incinerate: Damage has been decreased from 70-270 + .85 to .70-250 + .8.

Garen

The developer is making Garen’s non-crit and fighter-focused builds feel more rewarding. Moreover, a lower E cooldown aims to support sustained trades while preserving meaningful windows for opponents to react.

[E] Judgment

  • Cooldown has been adjusted from 9 to 9-6.
  • Damage has been increased from 4-20+ 0-8.2+36-40 percent total AD to 4-20+ 36-44 percent total AD.
  • Crit mod has been reduced from 1.5x to 1.4x.

[W] Courage

  • Cooldown has been reduced from 23-15 to 22-12.
  • Damage Reduction has been changed from 30 percent to 25-41 percent.
  • Quest capstone (10 percent total armor/MR) has been removed.

[R] Demacian Justice: Damage has been reduced from 150/300/450 + 25/30/35 percent missing HP to 150/250/350 + 25/30/35 percent missing HP.

Kassadin

Kassadin is getting a slight early game boost to help him contribute more before the late game by trimming some of his late-game power to balance it out. This change should make him more viable in high-skill games that heavily punish weak early laners.

Armor has been increased from 19-21.

  • [E] Force Pulse: Damage has been increased from 60-180 to 70-190.
  • [R] Riftwalk: AP ratio per stack 10 percent (max 90 percent) has been reduced to seven percent (max 78 percent).

Samira

These changes aim to enhance Samira’s lifesteal scaling to better support her snowball and teamfighting strengths, making builds like early Bloodthirster more appealing and giving her a clearer identity.

  • [Q] Flair: Life steal effectiveness has been increased from 66 to 80 percent.
  • [W] Blade Whirl: Bonus AD ratio has been reduced from .6 to .5.
  • [R] Inferno Trigger: Life steal effectiveness has been increased from 50 to 80 percent.

System Buffs

Horizon Focus

After the last patch balanced mage items, Horizon Focus still feels weak to the developer, so it gets a buff to make it more relevant alongside other items.

  • The price has been decreased from 2900 to 2800.
  • Ability power has been increased from 110 to 115.

Uzi joins Faker to become the second inductee into Riot’s LoL Hall of Legends

by admin May 20, 2025

The League of Legends icon Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao has officially been inducted into Riot Games’ Hall of Legends, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players in the game’s history.

Known for his explosive performances and widely regarded as one of the best AD carries of all time in the domestic and regional tournaments, Uzi became the first player from LPL to get this award. He joins Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok in the Hall of Legends to honor their achievements within League esports and overall influence on the fans.

According to Riot, the selection criteria for the players to get the Hall of Legends is performed by an independent voting panel of esports industry veterans and experts from every region. They choose players based on several criteria, including international and regional titles, role-specific stats, and overall contributions to esports.

The LPL veteran’s career is defined by his incredible mechanical skill, fierce drive, and a legacy that showed the real definition of carry in the bot lane to become a role model for many upcoming players. He rose to prominence at just 15 years old and became the face of Royal Never Give Up, leading the team to multiple domestic titles and two Worlds finals.

While he couldn’t win the Worlds trophy during his career, he came very close to it during the back-to-back Worlds finals appearances in 2013 and 2014. His dominance during the 2018 season, which saw RNG win the LPL Spring and Summer splits, along with the Mid-Season Invitational, which was his only international achievement back in the day. Not only that, he even won the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games esports event for China.

He has eight pentakills in his career, and three of them came with Vayne, who has been a stable Uzi champion choice for many players. Apart from that, the player was the first one to get 2500 kills in LPL, which is a gargantuan achievement showing his dominance in the matches.

Similar to last year, the annual celebration for the inductee in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, will present a custom art piece celebrating Uzi’s legacy will be given to him. Moreover, a personalized Mercedes-Benz G-Class with EQ Technology will also be given to the veteran for his contributions to the game.

While Uzi retired later in 2020, he did make a comeback with Bilibili Gaming and EDward Gaming to finally move away from professional esports in 2023.
