Dune Awakening base building guide: Best locations and design tips

Arrakis is a harsh and unforgiving place, but that doesn’t mean you can’t carve out a small corner of the sands and create a nice little home for yourself. Building a base in Dune: Awakening is the key to surviving the sands, but there are a few additional restrictions to keep in mind compared to other survival games.

A base not only shelters you from the harsh desert heat and deadly sandstorms, but also gives you a place to refine raw materials and create clean drinking water. Bases are somewhat disposable in Dune: Awakening, though, so sometimes it’s best to abandon your humble abode to create a foothold in a different region of the desert. Don’t think of your first few bases as forever homes: as you progress you’ll be able to build bigger, cooler, and better-located bases to return to at night.

Best Dune: Awakening base locations

You’re free to build a base anywhere in the desert in Dune: Awakening, but some locations are much more advantageous than others. The game guides you through the creation of your first base, but after that, you should take some time to really think about the best places to settle down.

The best early-game Dune: Awakening base location is near the Tradepost in Hagga Basin South. Building on the rocky areas below the Tradepost will keep you safe from sandworms, and you’ll only be a few hundred meters away from a few moisture-sealed caves, a shipwreck, and an Imperial Testing Station. Just get used to the idea of having neighbors: most likely you’re going to see a lot of other boxy beginner bases nearby.

This is hands down the best place for new players to stock up on key resources and get some easy XP to kickstart the research process. You’ll only need to venture out to get materials that can only be found in other regions. This base will take care of all your basic needs so you can focus on finishing the first set of main story quests. Most of the advanced blueprints are locked behind quest progression, anyway, so simple is better at this stage of the game.

Best overall base location

The best overall base location in Dune: Awakening is located in Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub. You’ll unlock this region after completing the first few main story quests and zooming north on your sandbike to Vermillius Gap. Once you reach Vermillius Gap, you’ll hear from Zantara one last time before he leaves you to your own devices. You’re then free to explore Arrakis as you see fit, and Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub should be your first stop.

This spot is prime real estate for your base. It’s near an Imperial Testing Station, a shipwreck, and some moisture-sealed caves so you’ll never have a shortage of rare materials or Fremen resources. There are also several Carbon Ore deposits nearby, plus other metals for good measure. To top things off, the nearest Tradepost is just a short sandbike ride south.

You can set up other outposts across the desert, but Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub is the perfect spot for your main base since it’s a central location where you can easily access everything you need. It’s safe enough for a permanent setup, and there are enough basic resources in the surrounding area to ensure you can always craft the essentials. Again, you’ll probably have neighbors, so practice your spice casserole recipe.

Dune: Awakening base building tips

No matter where you choose to build your base in Dune: Awakening, there are a few key things to remember.

Keep it simple

Most important: Keep things compact. Unless you’re planning on permanently settling down in an area with your group, don’t waste time building extravagant hideouts with multiple floors and rooms. You only need room for the basic crafting stations like a Blood Purifier and an Ore Refinery. Keep things as simple as possible so you can pack up and move later down the line.

Establish outposts

Don’t be afraid to use all of your available Sub-Fiefs! You get multiple base slots as you research more stuff in Dune: Awakening. Use those extra slots to establish small outposts in regions that are too far from your main base to conveniently commute. That way, you’ll have a safe haven with water and a place to refine any resources you collect while you’re out.

You can always abandon these bases when you’re finished with them, too.

Save blueprints

You should really save a blueprint of a simple outpost design so you can easily rebuild it in different areas. Researching the Solido Replicator will allow you to save a build as a blueprint that can be replicated in a single click as long as you have the materials in your inventory. Since a basic outpost won’t require much more than some Granite Stone and Salvaged Metal, you should be able to establish a pop-up camp basically anywhere on Arrakis.

Keep supplies close

Location is king. Try to place your bases close to shipwrecks and Imperial Testing Stations so you can have easy access to rare materials exclusively found in these areas. It’s also a good idea to build your base right next to a few ore deposits so you can mine them every time you come back home. It’ll save you a trip if you’re short a few ingots for your next equipment upgrade!

Stay hydrated

You should also try to place your base near a field of Dew Flowers. Blood is the main way to get water in the early stages of the game, but you’ll be able to research a Fremen tool called a Dew Reaper within the first few hours of your playthrough.

A Dew Reaper lets you harvest water from Dew Flowers instead of drinking from them directly. Not only will this let you bypass the dew limit that prevents you from fully hydrating yourself with these flowers, but it’ll also let you store a ton of water in Literjons so you’ll never get thirsty again. Dew Flowers can only be harvested in this way at dawn, but if you build your base near a field of them, you won’t have to worry about timing your water-gathering trips.

Protect your sandbike

Since vehicles will take damage if they’re left exposed to the elements for too long, don’t forget to build a little garage for your sandbike until you research the Vehicle Backup Tool that lets you store your bike.

As long as the game says “sheltered,” your bike should be safe in that spot. You don’t have to be fully enclosed and Watersealed for your bike to be protected. A few walls and a solid floor will do the trick.

The Verdansk bunkers contain top-tier loot that can give you an early edge or game-changing gear mid-match. You’ll find everything from powerful weapons and killstreaks to rare rewards like the Specialist Perk, which grants the benefits of every perk in the game.

How to access the Verdansk bunkers 

Most bunkers can be unlocked with access cards, which you’ll find in loot boxes during matches. You’ll need the Red Access Card to open Bunkers 4, 5, 6, and 9, while the Blue Access Card works for Bunkers 2, 7, and 8.

On the other hand, Bunkers 0, 1, 3, and 10 require specific keypad codes to get inside. Then there’s Bunker 11, which is trickier, as you’ll have to complete an Easter egg quest to open it. Below you can see the codes for Bunkers 1, 3, and 10, while Bunker 0’s code is yet to be discovered.

Verdansk bunker codes

  • Bunker 0 code: 01011000 (binary code for “X”)
  • Bunker 1 code: 04222021
  • Bunker 3 code: 30198805
  • Bunker 10 code: 31547206

If you plan to access the bunkers, I strongly advise getting a helicopter. It’s the fastest and safest way to hop between locations, especially if you’re chasing multiple bunkers in one match. However, an LTV or Polaris RZR will suffice if you can’t find one.

Before you make a run for a bunker, make sure you’ve looted up some decent weapons and armor. Bunkers are high-value targets, which means other squads will likely be heading there too.

All Dune: Awakening trainer locations

Though you can only pick one class during character creation, Dune: Awakening trainers offer another way to learn the art of all five specializations—so don’t worry too much about locking yourself into one skill tree. After picking a starting class between the Trooper, Planetologist, Mentat, Bene Gesserit, or Swordmaster, the other four class specialists will take you as their pupil.

Well, that is if you can find them between the survival-crafting game’s winding caves, treacherous deserts, and hostile camps. To help pave the way, we’ve mapped out all of the basic Dune: Awakening trainer locations, plus outlined whatever quest they send you off on to satisfy their bar for admissions.

June 2025: Dune: Awakening just opened its advanced access period, so we’re finding all of the other trainer locations not in its beta tests. We’ve found the five basic trainers and will keep updating this guide as we locate and complete advanced trainer quests.

Once you’ve completed those, it’ll be time to learn from the advanced trainers, unlocking the path to upgraded techniques, passives, and abilities. Don’t worry about using skill points wrong along the way either; it’s pretty easy to respec in Dune: Awakening.

Dune: Awakening Mentat Trainer Location

The basic Dune Awakening Mentat trainer, Samin Moro, stands just outside of Riftwatch. She’ll ask you bring her some easy-to-farm items, then travel back across to the far west side of Eastern Vermillius Gap to the Kirab Camp near Suk Alusus. You’ll fight your way down a long corridor, then pick up the ID bracelet on the right side.

The door that the ID bracelet opens is just across the room, so go inside and poison the supply container. Bummer for those guys, but at least Samin will teach you Mentat basics now.

Dune: Awakening Bene Gesserit Trainer Location

To find Sister Mesa, the basic Bene Gesserit trainer, you’ll need to head to Helius Gate, which is in the Eastern Shield Wall region. You’ll find Helius Gate directly north of The Wreck of the Pallas, the large PvP-enabled shipwreck in Western Vermillius Gap.

You may find it easier to reach Sister Mesa if you drive north but keep to the east of the massive cliff wall Helius Gate sits upon, which will take you past Pinnacle Station (where you can find the Swordmaster trainer, see below). Once you’re at Pinnacle Station, you can turn left and loop southward to drive easily up to Helius Gate.

Dune: Awakening’s basic Swordmaster trainer, Arno, is in Pinnacle Station, the trading post in the Jabal-Eifrit Al-gharb region. To reach it, head due north from The Wreck of the Pallas, the large shipwreck in Western Vermillius Gap. The trading posts looks just like the others (Griffin’s Rest and The Anvil) so it’s easy to spot from a distance.

With its blend of the soulslike and roguelike genres, Elden Ring Nightreign can be an overwhelming game to adjust to. It takes time to figure out how everything works and where to spend your time most wisely on the map.

The Most Sought After Elden Ring Sword Has A Storied History

One of the most important things to think about on each run is whether to upgrade a weapon you really like or hold out hope that a better, more powerful option will drop before the end of your run. Make the wrong choice, and you could be in a bad spot against the final boss of an expedition.

This is why you’ll sometimes want to visit an anvil near a merchant to level up a weapon you like with Smithing Stones. While you can’t get a weapon to Legendary rarity using this method, you can at least reach Epic rarity, making you a far more deadly foe to any future baddies you encounter. If that sounds good, here’s where to find Smithing Stones in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Where to get blue Smithing Stones in Elden Ring Nightreign

Smithing Stone [1] is a blue-colored stone used to upgrade a Common (white) rarity weapon to Rare (blue) rarity. These can be purchased from any merchant, found randomly in chests, or looted from corpses.

You’re likely to find at least a few of these stones during most expeditions, so unless you need them, be sure to share them with anyone who is falling behind in power early on.

Where to get purple Smithing Stones in Elden Ring Nightreign

Smithing Stone [2] is a purple-colored stone used to upgrade a Rare (blue) rarity weapon to Epic (purple) rarity. These can only be found by killing a specific boss enemy within one of the mines located somewhere on the map.

Each mine has a different boss type, such as an easy knight with a shield, an annoying Pumpkin Head enemy, or a bigass troll. Taking them down won’t take too long with a good team and a few levels under your belt, but the claustrophobic showdown can still lead to easy mistakes, so approach each of

Furthermore, remember that you’ll need to navigate the maze-like interior of the mine to come across these foes, so make sure you’ve got plenty of time to find them before setting off underground. If you get caught inside a mine when the rain comes through, you may be kissing your expedition goodbye. A purple greatsword isn’t going to do you much good if you’re dead, after all.

Throughout your Schedule 1 playthrough, you’ll visit a lot of Dead Drop supply boxes. Whether buying weed seeds or ingredients for making late-game substances, you’ll frequently purchase supplies and pick them up from these spots.

Although you may have noticed a few while running around, you likely won’t encounter every Dead Drop box until you approach the end of your playthrough. Nonetheless, knowing where each one is located can help you plan future routes.

Schedule 1 Dead Drop map locations

Here’s a complete list of every Dead Drop location around Schedule 1’s map:

Westville Apartment

Starting from Westville on the westernmost side of Hyland Point, you’ll find a Dead Drop box next to the brown apartment building’s second room. You’ll spot it on the wall as a box with an “X” above it.

Top Tattoo

Westville has another Dead Drop box behind Top Tattoo. Between Top Tattoo and an apartment building is a tight alleyway with skull graffiti, debris, and the Dead Drop box for you to open. Thankfully, this one is far from passersby and police, but it’s also especially dark if you travel at night.

Westville Gas-Mart

The last of Westville’s Dead Drop boxes is behind Gas-Mart. As you approach the Gas-Mart, run behind its metal fence to access the box and any of its contents.

West Bridge

Just before running into Northtown, head under the west bridge connecting it to Westville to find another Drop Box. Just be careful if you’re performing deals under here, as the cops are surprisingly good at noticing your presence even if they’re on top of the bridge.

Motel Office

It’s time to return to one of our beginning spots, the Motel. More specifically, you’ll head behind the Motel office building to spot another Dead Drop box.

Skatepark

The early-game Dead Drop locations don’t stop there. Right in front of the motel is a skatepark, with another box along its outer wall. Don’t worry—you won’t find any others inside the park itself.

Taco Ticklers

Before running in to grab a taco, it’s time to claim our supplies from Taco Ticklers’ Dead Drop box. You’ll find this stash by running behind the restaurant until you find the Dead Drop container on the wall near a green dumpster.

Thompson Construction & Demo

The next one is a little tricky to spot when you first start playing Schedule 1. The Thompson Construction & Demo Dead Drop box is along a brick wall directly north of its map location, which you can access using a walkway connected to the Motel area.

Arcade

Did you know that there’s an arcade next to the Fat Dragon Chinese restaurant in Schedule 1? I didn’t either until a few hours after I unlocked the restaurant’s living space. If you circle behind the arcade to where the white pickup truck is, you’ll spot the Dead Drop box against the building’s back wall.

Pawn Shop

Did you know you can sell old gear at the Pawn Shop? Inside the Pawn Shop is Mick, who’ll buy old equipment from you. More importantly, the Dead Drop is to the right of the store’s entrance, just around the corner.

Laundromat

There’s an interesting spot between the Warehouse and businesses like the Laundromat and Thrifty Threads. The path here is a great escape route at night, but it also helps connect you to the Docks if you don’t feel like traveling along the main road. Your next Dead Drop box is behind the Laundromat along the lower-level wall.

Slop Shop

As you travel down one of the main roads past POIs like Taco Ticklers, the parking garage, and the Laundromat, you’ll spot a diner known as Slop Shop. Behind it is an apartment building in which several NPCs live, with a Dead Drop box on the corner closest to the Hyland Police Station.

Body Shop

Next up is the Body Shop’s Dead Drop box. You’ll find the Body Shop directly south of Slop Shop. While a metal fence will seemingly block access to it, you can easily open it through its holes without much issue.

Central Canal

Remember at the beginning of Schedule 1’s story when you had to pick up money from Uncle Nelson? You had three Dead Drops to visit, with the central canal stash being one of the most difficult to spot. You’ll find this one in the town center near the eastern Gas-Mart, Hyland Auto, and Hyland Police Station.

Casino

Next up is the Casino. Rather than circling to the front, approach it as if you’re coming from the Motel until you pass the parking garage and red storage container. You’ll find the Dead Drop box close to its corner.

Apartment south of the Parking Garage

Your next destination is the apartment directly south of the parking garage. Both of these locations are near the casino and supermarket. The apartment appears as a large brown building with a Dead Drop box on its northeastern corner.

Supermarket

The Supermarket Dead Drop box is the second of the three you’ll find during Uncle Nelson’s introductory quest. It’s very close to the Central Canal box, requiring you to travel north from it and turn left after passing the Supermarket. Turning left again will lead you to its back wall, where you’ll encounter the next Dead Drop stash.

Crimson Canary

Next on the list is the Dead Drop box alongside the eastern walls of The Crimson Canary and The Butter Box. Both spots are directly north of the Town Hall, with its Dead Drop stash on the wall near two dumpsters and some purple graffiti.

Hyland Medical

There are two types of players: those who are at Hyland Medical once a day, and those who are never here because they refuse to get into fights. Either way, traveling far east into Hyland past the Town Hall and the bank will bring you to the medical center. The Dead Drop is behind the building.

The Town Hall fountain is the last of Uncle Nelson’s introductory stashes. After finding the Central Canal and Supermarket Dead Drops, head toward the center of town until you find a brown-orange brick building with a fountain in front of it. The Dead Drop box is along the bottom of the fountain.

Courthouse and Hyland Bank

There’s a strong possibility you’ve never visited Hyland Bank or the Courthouse before. Don’t worry; I haven’t either. The only time you’ll need to check this spot out is to interact with the Dead Drop box attached to the bank’s southern wall.

Fire Station

The Fire Station across the street from Hyland Medical has a similar Dead Drop stash location. This time, run around the building until you’re between it and Handy Hank’s Hardware. The Dead Drop is along the wall underneath a window.

Docks houses

It’s rare to find a Dead Drop box on someone’s house unless it also acts as a business. This Docks Dead Drop box is an exception, as it is situated right next to someone’s front door. As you enter the Docks, turn left toward the first house you see to spot this box next to a blue door and a Cuke machine.

Randy’s Bait and Tackle

The second Docks Dead Drop is right behind Randy’s Bait and Tackle shop at the end of the area. As you travel down the road, look out for a green rusted building and go behind it to spot its Dead Drop box.

South Gazebo

The last dead drop on this list is located at the bottom of Schedule 1’s map. You’ll find Suburbia’s houses and a gazebo with a Dead Drop box on its floor. It’s a long trek over here but a necessary struggle if you need some pseudo or Coca seeds.

Schedule 1 Supplier Stash map locations

Dead Drop boxes aren’t the only stash units you’ll find around Schedule 1’s map. If you’re buying weed seeds or product manufacturing ingredients from your suppliers, you’ll need to toss them some cash in their personal stashes. Below is a list of every supplier and their personal Dead Drop locations:

  1. Behind Dan’s Hardware (Albert’s Stash)

While Albert’s and Shirley’s are right in Northtown, Salvador’s requires traveling up to the church near the Barn to access his drop. Considering he sells late-game ingredients, though, this makes sense. By that point in the game, you’ll likely have cars, a skateboard, or enough free time to run around and collect everything you need.

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel locations include ‘Chicago gone wrong’ in addition to Night City

Turns out Night City isn’t big enough for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. CD Projekt Red’s sequel is going Midwest.

The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, codenamed Project Orion, is officially in the works. CD Projekt Red, fresh off wrapping Phantom Liberty in 2023, is deep into pre-production.

The studio’s Boston office is leading development, and job listings confirm it’ll keep its first-person roots. They’re aiming for a smarter crowd system, deeper narrative, and new locations. Don’t hold your breath though; this one’s not dropping before 2028. Maybe even the 2030s. And yes, The Witcher 4 is eating most of their time right now.

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel trades Night City glam for Chicago grime

Now for the juicy part: creator Mike Pondsmith spilled some tea. In a new interview with Polish gaming magazine CD-Action, he teased that Orion will feature “another city,” one that reminded him of “Chicago gone wrong.” He made it clear that Night City isn’t going anywhere either.

So buckle up, and maybe start listening to Joe Keery’s End of Beginning again, because the next Cyberpunk playground could be broader, meaner, and windier.

CD Project Red

Mike Pondsmith is the guy who made the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG, the blueprint for Cyberpunk 2077. He didn’t just sign off on the game; he consulted closely on its world and tone. He’s the reason Night City feels like a gritty fever dream of future California. So when he drops clues, you should probably listen.

“There’s another city we visit,” he said during the interview. “Night City is still there… it doesn’t feel like Blade Runner, it’s more like Chicago gone wrong.” His comments align with long-standing fan theories about Orion being set in 2080s Chicago. He even ended the chat with a wink: “I don’t know when to shut up.”

With CDPR’s Boston studio steering the ship and plenty of hard lessons from 2077, Project Orion could be massive. Just don’t expect to jack in anytime soon.

Wolf Statue Locations In Kar’Thul Marshes

Aside from a more ambitious narrative scope, Doom: The Dark Ages also introduced semi open-world areas where objectives and secrets are a bit more spread out. “The Kar’Thul Marshes,” the fifteenth mission in the game, is the third of these, after “The Siege Part One” and “Ancestral Forge.”

Throughout the game, you’ll also come across many Sorcerer and Knight statues with jewel collectibles. Sorcerer statues hold Wraithstones while Knight statues hold Rubies. In the game’s open-world segments, you’ll find these blocked off with a barrier, surrounded by holographic wolf statues. In order to fill these statues in, you’ll have to find three other wolf statues scattered throughout the open-world mission and destroy them with your shield.

In “The Kar’Thul Marshes,” there are five of these wolf statues instead of the usual three. Here are their locations.

The sorcerer statue is towards the left of the starting point. You’ll come across a few combat encounters before coming across a path with some gold. At the end of the path, you’ll see a small cove with the sorcerer statue surrounded by the five wolves.

First wolf statue

The first wolf statue is near where you first start on the mission. Simply go forward and to the left and you should see the wolf statue at the end of the cliff.

The second wolf statue location is close to the first. Just go a bit further out to the left, and right across from the Battle Demon Toy collectible, you should see a cliff that’ll let you drop down. The statue is right at the bottom.

As you continue to make your way to the left side of the level, you’ll eventually collect your first Relic Fragment. There’s a large gold chunk collectible and near that is the third wolf statue sitting right past the cliff.

The fourth wolf statue is near the third one. From the third wolf statue, go around the corner and tackle the combat encounter near the back against a bunch of giant tentacle demons. The fourth wolf statue should be against a rock wall.

The fifth and final wolf statue is actually in the same room as the sorcerer statue with the barrier. When in the room, simply look to your right and you should see the wolf statue down the hall.

Grabbing the jewel

After shattering all five wolf statues, the barrier surrounding the Sorcerer statue will disappear. You can then interact with the statue and grab the Wraithstone, which can be used to upgrade your weapons, shield, and melee capabilities
