Scalpers list ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab Edition GPU for as much as $22,900 on eBay

by admin June 12, 2025

The GeForce RTX 5090 stands out as one of the best graphics cards on the market, so its high price is no surprise. However, there is a distinction between merely expensive graphics cards and those that cost a king’s ransom. The Asus ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition certainly falls into the latter group.

To begin with, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition is exclusively available to the Middle Eastern market; thus, it cannot be found on the shelves of any retailer in the United States. One may acquire the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition through online e-commerce platforms, such as eBay. However — as is often the case — one will be subject to the practices of overseas sellers and opportunistic scalpers.

The ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition has, naturally, been put up for sale on eBay. The prices listed vary according to the seller, but a common factor is that all these sellers are based in China. Consequently, the eBay sellers likely possess connections within the supply chain in China, which allowed them to acquire stock that was initially intended for shipment to the Middle East.

eBay sellers are offering the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition priced at $8,500, $14,998, and $22,990. With an MSRP of $6,806, this marks a scalper markup ranging from 1.2X to 3.4X on an already-pricey graphics card. And, of course, customs duties will further increase the total cost.

Asus produces some of the highest-priced custom GeForce RTX 5090 models available, making the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition a fitting addition. When we look at the MSRPs, this exclusive edition graphics card is priced at nearly twice that of the vanilla ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition, which doesn’t feature the elaborate embellishments and gold plating.

Compared to the competition, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition is more than twice as expensive as other premium models like the Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 AMP Extreme Infinity, the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G Suprim Liquid SOC, and the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 5090 Xtreme WaterForce 32G. And it costs as much as 3.4 times more than the GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition.

Performance-wise, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition is the same as the standard ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition. However, it boasts a boost clock of up to 2,610 MHz, ranking among the highest factory overclocks available, second only to the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 5090 Xtreme WaterForce 32G. Compared to a reference GeForce RTX 5090, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition features an 8% higher boost clock. However, this increase is unlikely to be noticeable in real-world use unless you measure frame rates with recording software or intentionally benchmark different clock speeds.

With scalper pricing starting at $8,500, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition definitely isn’t suitable for everyone. Even if priced at MSRP ($6,806), it remains an unwise investment, as you could instead buy a standard GeForce RTX 5090 and still have enough funds left over to build an entire high-end gaming system centered around the Blackwell flagship.

Coinbase to List 3 New Cryptocurrencies on June 12: Details

by admin June 11, 2025

Amid efforts to provide its users with an exclusive trading experience and a wide range of crypto options, the renowned U.S.-based crypto trading platform Coinbase has announced via an X post the addition of three crypto assets to its platform.

The new listings, which span the Ethereum, Solana, and Arbitrum networks, aim to broaden crypto access for Coinbase users in supported regions.

According to the announcement, the tokens include PancakeSwap (CAKE), Subsquid (SQD), and Fartcoin (FARTCOIN), providing fresh investment opportunities to Coinbase users.

Scheduled to launch on June 12, the three tokens will go live and become available for trading via the Coinbase website and mobile apps (iOS and Android). Users will be able to buy, sell, convert, send, receive, or store the assets starting from 9 AM PT on Thursday.

Coinbase’s decision to enhance its crypto offerings underscores the exchange’s commitment to providing diverse trading opportunities and expanding its global presence.

As users anticipate the token launch, Coinbase has urged them to confirm asset availability in their region before engaging in transfers or trades. The exchange noted, “Support for these assets may be restricted in some supported jurisdictions.”

While each token is tied to a specific blockchain, users must exercise caution when transferring them:

  • Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) will be available as an SPL token on the Solana network. Sending SPL tokens through non-Solana networks may result in permanent loss.
  • Subsquid (SQD) will be supported only on the Arbitrum network, and transfers via non-Arbitrum networks may also be irrecoverable.
  • PancakeSwap (CAKE) will launch as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network, meaning only Ethereum network transfers will be supported.

This listing marks a significant milestone for each project. However, the buzz surrounding the Coinbase listings has yet to impact the price of PancakeSwap directly. Over the last day, CAKE has held firm around $2.58, reflecting a slight dip of 0.51%.

Meanwhile, FARTCOIN and Subsquid have moved in the opposite direction, showing massive daily gains of 6.34% and 6.48%, respectively, as anticipation builds ahead of their Coinbase debut.

New Hampshire Tops List of Most Crypto-Friendly U.S. States: Study

by admin June 2, 2025

A new ranking of crypto-friendly U.S. states puts New Hampshire at the top despite its steep electricity prices and lack of bitcoin mining activity. The state scores high due to its zero capital gains tax, lack of restrictive crypto regulation and a dense network of crypto-accepting businesses and ATMs.

The study, conducted by digital mining hardware maker ASICKey, evaluated all 50 states using seven weighted factors: capital gains tax, regulatory environment, crypto adoption in business, job availability, ATM density, electricity cost, and mining presence. Tax policy and business usage were given the most weight.

New Hampshire earned the highest score — 71.22 out of 100 — with 4.4 crypto businesses and 9.3 ATMs per 100,000 people. Wyoming followed with a score of 61.89, thanks to the highest blockchain job concentration nationwide (118.4 per 100,000), low energy costs, and minimal regulation.

Nevada, Texas, and Alaska round out the top five. Each state has its own strengths — Nevada’s crypto-accepting business sector, Texas’s significant mining footprint, and Alaska’s strong blockchain job market — while also benefiting from 0% capital gains taxes.

The study underlines how tax structure and state policy shape the crypto landscape. States with favorable tax codes and clear regulatory paths appear to attract more infrastructure and job creation, while high taxes or unclear rules may slow adoption.

WalletConnect Token rallies 11% as Jupiter stakers added to WCT airdrop list

by admin May 29, 2025

WCT jumped 11% following news that Jupiter stakers will be eligible for a token claim tied to WalletConnect’s Solana expansion.

WalletConnect Token (WCT) jumped on Thursday as buzz spread about an upcoming airdrop tied to Solana (SOL), and some Jupiter stakers are now on the list. Following the news, the price of WCT rose 11.6% and is trading at $1.06, according to data from CoinGecko. The token has gained 276.8% over the past month, rising from $0.2814 on April 15.

The price rally followed growing anticipation around WCT’s expansion to Solana. At the Solana Accelerate event, WalletConnect Foundation founder Pedro Gomes said the token would go live on the network later this month via Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers standard.

Airdrop details haven’t been finalized yet, but the WalletConnect Foundation has confirmed that a 5 million WCT claim will be available for Solana users, with Jupiter, Phantom, Backpack, and Solflare helping identify eligible users and distribute tokens.

“The goal is to identify real users, those already building, staking, and transacting on Solana. […] This follows the success of the 2024 token claim, which saw 50 million WCT distributed to early contributors across the WalletConnect ecosystem, previously in the Optimism and Ethereum ecosystems.”

WalletConnect Foundation

Despite the announcement, eligibility details and claim timelines are expected to be announced soon. With the launch on Solana, WCT becomes a multichain token after its earlier deployments on Ethereum and Optimism.

Bitcoin Treasury List Grows With Entry of Crypto Brokerage K33

by admin May 28, 2025

In brief

  • The Oslo, Norway-based firm offers crypto brokerage and research services.
  • It has entered an agreement with shareholders to buy $6.2 million in Bitcoin.
  • Bitcoin treasuries are becoming more common.

Norway-based crypto brokerage and research services firm K33 joined the rapidly growing list of companies to adopt Bitcoin treasury strategies.

In a Wednesday announcement, K33 said it had entered into a financing agreement to buy over 60 million Swedish krona ($6.2 million) in the leading cryptocurrency. The firm said that along with its shareholders, it would issue new shares as well as debt to buy the asset.

“We strongly believe that Bitcoin will become an instrumental part of the global financial system,” K33 CEO Torbjørn Bull Jenssen said in a statement.

He added: “I am excited to now start the process of building a strong balance sheet backed by Bitcoin, not only as a strong conviction investment but, more importantly, as a strategic enabler for K33 as a leading cryptocurrency broker.”

The number of companies focused on acquiring Bitcoin has soared in recent weeks, helping to fuel the crypto’s price to new highs. Bitcoin was recently trading at about $108,000, off its recent high near $112,000, but up 15% over the past month.

Strategy—formerly MicroStrategy—pioneered the strategy in 2020, to generate shareholder value and to combat inflation.

Since then, the Nasdaq-listed company’s shares have rocketed and it has accelerated its crypto buying. Strategy now holds more than 580,000 Bitcoin worth more than $62 billion based on current pricing.

Other Nasdaq-listed companies and firms in the crypto space have followed suit, or are about to.

Last month, crypto and financial services giants Tether, Bitfinex, Cantor Fitzgerald, and SoftBank Group announced last month that they would create Twenty One, a publicly traded Bitcoin treasury company with plans to acquire 42,000 BTC—or about $4.5 billion worth.

Twenty One will be launched through a planned SPAC merger with Cantor Equity Partners, which trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker CEP and is affiliated with financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald.

$120 Billion Bitcoin Stash Puts Satoshi Nakamoto At No. 11 On Rich List

by admin May 27, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Arkham Intelligence has disclosed that the creator of Bitcoin – known only as Satoshi Nakamoto – now holds roughly 1.96 million BTC. At today’s prices, that stash is worth about $120 billion. According to Arkham, this makes Nakamoto the 11th richest person on Earth. His share adds up to 5.2% of all Bitcoin ever mined.

Satoshi’s Bitcoin Cache Grows

The mystery around Nakamoto deepens as these wallets haven’t moved since 2011. They remained untouched when Bitcoin was still a fringe experiment. Now, those same addresses tower over many national treasuries. Even a small sale could reshape prices.

Bitcoin Hits New Heights Under Price Rally

Bitcoin recently spiked to almost $112,000 before sliding back toward $110,000. In November 2021, its previous high was near $67,000. Today’s surge more than doubles that peak. This rapid climb has sent shockwaves through both crypto veterans and new buyers.

— Arkham (@arkham) May 26, 2025

Crypto Versus Corporate Giants

Based on market data, Bitcoin’s total value hit about $2.16 trillion. That figure eclipsed Amazon’s roughly $2.13 trillion market cap. Investors now list the crypto among the top five global assets. Still, Bitcoin is a decentralized token, while Amazon is a single company. Some experts warn it’s not a neat comparison.

BTC is currently trading at $109,677. Chart: TradingView

Big Players And Market Moves

Michael Saylor’s firm, Strategy, bought 4,020 BTC between May 19 and 25, bringing its total to 580,250 BTC. Yet Strategy’s stock dipped over 7% in pre-market trading on May 26. That drop shows Wall Street can shrug off big BTC buys.

Meanwhile, Robert Kiyosaki, author of “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, called Bitcoin “real money” and warned that fiat cash might lose its grip on trust. He pointed to Gresham’s Law and Metcalfe’s Law to make his case.

The mystery surrounding the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto deepens. Image: Kucoin.

Institutional interest is one factor. Another is the rollout of spot Bitcoin ETFs in several markets. These funds let big investors buy Bitcoin without wrestling with private keys. That move has lifted demand even when retail buyers step back.

Still, some in the crypto community worry about the silent wallets. No one really knows if Satoshi might ever move those coins. If he did, prices could wobble. A sudden sell-off of even a small slice—say 100,000 BTC—would flood the market. Right now, the mere thought keeps traders on edge.

Today’s numbers shine a spotlight on how far Bitcoin has come. From a few cents per coin to more than $110,000, it’s been a wild ride. But the giant stash held by an unknown creator adds a new layer of drama. For now, those coins stay frozen in time. And that mystery, like the price swings, is part of what keeps people talking.

Ultimate Verse Piece Traits Guide & Tier List [1 Days]

by admin May 22, 2025

Traits are one of the essential parts of your character progression in Verse Piece. Traits boost your damage and increase your stats, while some allow you to unlock weapons that make leveling a breeze. Find out which traits to go for when rerolling with our Verse Piece traits guide down below!

Verse Piece Trait Tier List

Image via TierMaker

The above tier list ranks all Verse Piece traits from best to worst based on how much they increase your damage and stats overall. In general, higher damage multiplier values give you more DPS than flat Special and Sword stat bonuses. Defense stat bonuses are exponentially stronger if you pair them up with a race such as Contractor.

How do Verse Piece Traits Work?

In Verse Piece, traits multiply your damage no matter what Weapon, Spec, or Fruit you are using. This increase in damage becomes much more noticeable when you boost them with the right trait passives. Most traits in Verse Piece increase your stats as well. Some traits give you titles, like the Honored One, while others, such as Zenin and Heavenly Restriction, are used to acquire Maki and Toji weapons.

How to Get Traits in Verse Piece

Screenshot by Destructoid

You can reroll traits in Verse Piece by paying five gems to the Traits Reroll NPC. You can find them on the Frost Town island. There is a safety feature when rerolling that requires you to confirm if you want to reroll Legendary, Mythic, or Exotic traits, so reroll without worries. You can see your current trait in Verse Piece, the damage multiplier, and the stat points it gives you in your character menu.

How to Store Traits in Verse Piece

In Verse Piece, if you want to save one of the traits you rolled for later use in getting a weapon or a spec that requires it, you can store it in your trait storage. Keep in mind that you first need to unlock trait storage slots by using the Trait Storage material.

Trait storage in inventory

You can purchase Trait Storage from the Adventure Shop on the Merchant Island or trade for it with someone. Later, you will want to have at least one trait storage slot because it allows you to save your current trait before rerolling.

Verse Piece Trait Progression

When you just start out in the Verse Piece world, try to get traits like God-Like or Spiritual because of the stat boost they provide. For the mid-game, Zenin and Heavenly Restriction boost your damage while allowing you to obtain legendary-tier weapons, so go for them. However, later on, Mythic and Exotic tier traits are the way to go if you want to stay competitive in Verse Piece.

Monarch trait and the stats it gives you

Honored One is the best Mythic trait because of the title you get with it, while Rage Revenge offers slightly more damage. Your end-game goals should be Monarch, Rejected Zenin, and the Betrayer, as they are the best traits in Verse Piece.

This is it for our Verse Piece traits guide. If you are looking to claim some freebies, including free Race Rerolls and Storage, then check out our list of Verse Piece codes.

A writer used AI to generate this widely circulated summer reading list which includes fake books, and is published in the Chicago Sun-Times

by admin May 22, 2025

There’s a reason the mention of AI, particularly in creative spaces, gets a bit of an eyeroll. Actually there’s several. It’s trained on stolen content for starters, robbing real artists and writers of credit and income. Furthermore, it’s often just pretty bad, especially when it comes to factual articles. Language models like ChatGPT are known to hallucinate pretty badly, and this has led to real outlets like the Chicago Sun-Times printing a summer reading list full of fake books.

Several outlets have covered the story, such as Arstechnica and The Verge, and of course now I’m doing it here. It could be that we are somewhat motivated to point out when AI stuffs up in the writing space, considering people seem to want to keep giving our jobs to it. But it was 404, which is a paywalled publication, who found the origins of this fake list that made its way into a few publications.

The Chicago Sun-Times made a post on Bluesky, which rather passes the buck on the situation. “We are looking into how this made it into print as we speak,” it reads, adding “It is not editorial content and was not created by, or approved by, the Sun-Times newsroom. We value your trust in our reporting and take this very seriously. More info will be provided soon.”

It turns out the list was bought from a partner of the publications, and was found to come from the media conglomerate Hearst. The listicle features some real books but it’s also plagued by some that don’t exist, credited to both real and fabricated authors. It even points to non-existent blog posts, and is generally just a bout of confusion. Especially for anyone actually trying to get their hands on any of these recommended summer reads.

You may like

The byline on the list belongs to a Marco Buscaglia, who 404 managed to track down. Initially Buscaglia admitted to using AI in their work, but clarified that they always check it for errors. “This time, I did not and I can’t believe I missed it because it’s so obvious. No excuses,” he told 404. “On me 100 percent and I’m completely embarrassed.”

This isn’t unique. There were other similar articles found, without bylines, that had blatantly fabricated information with quotes from fake people. One about “Summer food trends” had expert quotes from a doctor that doesn’t exist, as well as some that were never said by people who do. It’s likely this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to published hallucinating AI content.

It comes at a time when budget cuts are causing lots of publications to turn to AI content to save money, but it’s definitely a case of you get what you pay for. The sad truth is that there’s far less money for writers of good, well researched, and well written content out there then there used to be. I say this as someone who’s watched publication after publication in my industry close, leaving talented and dedicated journalists without work.

It’s another reminder that we have to be ever careful in what we read, both in print and online. It’s also a reminder for those who use AI that these things are a tool. They need to be used carefully and properly, with the correct oversight. It’s increasingly important to take all your information with a healthy dose of sceptism no matter what side of the readership you’re on.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.
