15 attempts in, I actually love that Elden Ring Nightreign’s Everdark Libra is the first FromSoftware boss who’s harder to beat in co-op than solo

by admin August 19, 2025

The handshake deal in FromSoftware games, the obfuscated difficulty option that’s always been there since Demon’s Souls, is co-op: Summoning phantoms controlled by other players or the computer. In OG Elden Ring everybody’s best friend was the Mimic Tear, a powerful summon to make a copy of yourself to fight by your side.

This has held true in the co-op centric, roguelike spinoff Nightreign, with the sturdy tripod of a full party clearly being what the experience was catered towards. The new duos mode is nice enough but still slightly compromised, while even with post-launch patches, solo is still the worst way to play.

But now they’ve gone and turned all that on its head: The latest Everdark superboss, the ultra instinct version of Baphomet dealbroker Libra, only gets more challenging the bigger your posse is. I managed to take him down solo after just three runs, while I’m somewhere north of 15 attempts deep in duos and trios, a W still evading me at every turn.

Everybody hates Everdark Libra. My peer, Austin Wood at GamesRadar, thinks he’s “100% getting nerfed.” Just like with the similarly loathed Everdark Augur, I disagree. I love this sick freak of a boss and how he turns all the rules on their heads.

To make Everdark Libra easier would compromise the beautiful vision at his core, the product of a sensitive, poet’s soul that’s clearly been hurt by this cruel world of ours and wants to inflict that pain right back. We’re all letting Libra down. Champions adjust. Spoilers for Everdark Libra below.

Make your choice

Yeah man, we get it. (Image credit: FromSoftware)

Libra’s already a real piece of work in his base form, tied with end boss Heolstor as the hardest in the game by my reckoning. He has an arsenal of unusual, difficult-to-read projectile attacks that all build up the madness status effect, which does huge damage and a stun if you manage to survive the initial burst.

His signature move is a delayed blast sigil that brutalizes you with madness build-up after a quick beat. It comes out fast enough that you can’t exactly respond to it carefully and can get royally screwed if you’re in the middle of an animation, while a slight delay punishes immediate panic rolling. It is deliciously evil.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Libra’s Everdark form ups the ante by summoning invader clones of the player party with all the same abilities and a number of potential weapon loadouts thoughtfully constructed to inflict the most pain and frustration. Some of my favorites:

  • Mini Malenia Executor: Equipped with the Hand of Malenia Sword and can perform a weaker, but still potentially instant-death version of Waterfowl Dance. Yes, that Waterfowl Dance.
  • Terminator Ironeye: Possesses the Jar Cannon and One-Eyed Shield (which has a built-in cannon), as well as a seemingly-permanent buff resembling the Ironjar Aromatic: He walks extremely slowly but is extra tanky and can’t be interrupted.
  • Sniper Wylder: Uses a greatbow to spam the Rain of Arrows ash of war, doing crazy damage in a huge AoE from long distance.
  • Rot Duchess: Dual wields Scorpion’s Stinger daggers for fast Scarlet Rot buildup.

Much like the player-style NPC enemies of FromSoft’s previous games, they don’t play by the same rules that you do: Malenia-Executor is particularly difficult to interrupt out of his signature move, while all of the clones are capable of dodge rolling out of attack combos a normal player could not.

The pièce de résistance is how they shuffle in: It does not feel like Libra has a consistent timer for summoning a fresh wave of evil twins. Wiping them out is not a guarantee of breathing room to DPS the boss, while it’s far more likely for them to start piling up as you fail to clear out old ones before the new clones spawn in.

The final indignity is that Libra summoning a new wave heals any surviving invaders, buffs their defense and damage, and the buffs stack. A veteran six rounds deep Executor spamming Waterfowl Dance is who I wish I was playing as.

All of this while Libra has new, more aggressive madness-inflicting AOE attacks to fling at you. A mature Everdark Libra fight is pure chaos, a field of evil clones glowing gold with layered buffs, some attacking each other, but most chasing you around like it’s Yakety Sax while Libra turns the field into a bullet hell screen. It’s utterly deranged. I don’t know how a group of randos with no coordination is supposed to beat it. It’s hilarious.

The time is ripe

The Gamer’s Gambit. (Image credit: FromSoftware)

Whether fully intentional or not, FromSoft’s classical deferred difficulty system works in reverse with Everdark Libra. It’s like a martial arts movie thing or Bruce Wayne climbing out of Bane’s house without the dang rope or something: If the enemy draws its strength from you, make yourself weaker.

Not only is one evil twin far more manageable than triplets, the singleplayer mode’s adjusted health values mean they go down quicker too. Even in the solo runs I failed, I didn’t experience the chaotic pileups of a three-player slugfest.

This inversion is another example of how flexible and surprising FromSoft’s well-worn systems can still be. Yet another boss in Nightreign is challenging in a way that took me off-guard, that wasn’t just another really tall, sad guy with a sword who moves super fast.

That has me even more excited for what the studio does next: After Promised Consort Radahn in Shadow of the Erdtree, I was worried there might be a ceiling to FromSoft’s arms race with itself to make ever greater twitch reflex challenges in its bosses. In Nightreign, the studio sidestepped this issue, proving there’s nothing stopping it from delivering spectacles, challenges, or sheer curveballs we just won’t see coming.

As for the fight itself, it’s a new favorite. Everdark Libra feels like a joke at my expense, a prank played on us players. That’s one of my favorite things to see in a game, and FromSoft is the master when it comes to this rare art.

Could they ease off the gas with the clone spawns just a touch? Maybe, it depends on how soon you ask me after a failed run. Is it kinda bullshit that Vyke’s War Spear, the only melee weapon Libra is weak to, is such a rare drop that I’ve only seen it twice in 111.8 hours (but who’s counting)? Perhaps.

I hope they never nerf Everdark Libra. He’s so stupid. It’s all so meanspirited. I love him like a son.

FromSoftware makes the Libra fight easier, with Elden Ring Nightreign’s latest patch making Madness weapons more common

by admin June 18, 2025

FromSoftware has brought Elden Ring Nightreign servers back online following three hours of maintenance that kicked off earlier today. The downtime was necessary to deploy the game’s latest patch, version 1.01.3, which is now available across all platforms.

Update 1.01.3 is a fairly small one, and it arrives a little over one week after 1.01.2 was released. Given the version numbers, it’s safe to expect not-so-major changes, even if a few of the patch notes are definitely worth highlighting.

The latest Nightreign patch is made up almost entirely of bug fixes, but it does come with a balance tweak that increases the chance of finding weapons with the Madness status ailment in the loot pool.

Madness is among the lesser-used weapon elements in the game, and the status effect is among the least useful against Nightlord bosses – except against Equilibrious Beast Libra. It’s very likely that FromSoftware wants players to run into more Madness weapons more often in order to make that fight a little easier.

In terms of bug fixes, one of the more amusing addresses an issue that caused the damage dealt to some enemies when destroying their weak points – as a result of Ironeye’s Marking skill – to be higher or lower than intended, depending on the situation.

One cheeky bug that worked in players’ advantage caused the Lightning damage received to be nullified when the Passive Effect Power of the Great Ancient Dragon was active, which you get from the Bolt of Gransax weapon.

Read on below for the full change log:

The door to… patch notes? | Image credit: VG247

General balance adjustments

Bug fixes

  • Adjusted the Whirlwind skill effect visibility when the Relic Effect “[Guardian] Increased duration for Character Skill” is active.

  • Fixed a bug where the Demon Merchant would spawn near the Night’s Tide when the Demon Merchant curse event was encountered.

  • Fixed a bug where damage dealt to some enemies when destroying weak points created by Ironeye’s “Marking” skill was higher or lower than expected.

  • Fixed a bug where the Lightning Damage received from enemies would be nullified when affected by the Passive Effect “Power of the Great Ancient Dragon” of the “Bolt of Gransax” weapon.

  • Fixed a bug where the Ultimate Art gauge was filled more than expected when attacking some enemies.

  • Fixed a bug where the Relic Effect “Switching Weapons Adds an Affinity Attack” did not properly reflect the attribute when applied to Bows and Crossbows.

  • Fixed a bug where the amount of Runes needed to purchase Uncommon weapons from merchants incorrectly calculated.

  • Fixed a bug where players would lose a battle after being revived from near death against a Nightlord or other Night bosses.

  • Fixed a bug in some Multiplayer battles against a Nightlord where the camera would not display at the correct angle when not targeting an enemy.

  • Fixed a bug where lingering character phantoms did not appear in Limveld.

  • Added staff information in the game’s credit.

Steam-only adjustments

In other Nightreign news, dataminer Zullie the Witch recently explored how the game’s controversial revive mechanic actually works, revealing some fascinating insights into the numbers behind it all. All Positive And Negative Libra Deals

by admin June 14, 2025

Screenshot: FromSoftware / George Yang / Kotaku

In Elden Ring Nightreign, right before you fight the Nightlord Libra, Creature of Night, it’ll try to bargain with you, offering up a powerful boon to increase your abilities for a price.

The Most Sought After Elden Ring Sword Has A Storied History

First appearing as the Scale-Bearing Merchant, it will stand in the middle of the field and ask if you want to accept a deal. Attacking it immediately begins the boss battle and transformation into Libra. Refusing a deal also triggers the boss battle, but choosing to leave the conversation doesn’t.

The Scale-Bearing Merchant typically provides three options, and they seem to cycle in and out between expeditions. Here are the ones we’ve found so far, as well as both their positive and negative effects.

All Libra, Creature of Night Deals

Add an extra flask to your maximum amount.

Decreases your maximum HP

I wish for eventual greatness

Grants Ascetic Greatness, which Increases max HP, FP, and Stamina.

Halves max HP, FP, and Stamina through Ascetic Path for a limited time, until Ascetic Greatness activates.

When HP is at a critically low level, it fully restores it.

I want to hold death at bay

This does not protect against deathblows and you lose one level upon restoration.

I want to fight at utmost strength

Temporarily increases player’s attack, madness resistance, and max HP.

Libra gets a damage resistance buff.

– I wish to expand my intellect
– have great strength
– have great dexterity
– have deep faith
touch with arcane

Changes stats based on what was chosen, like a class swap. For example, a magic-focused Recluse can choose “have great strength” and gain the strength of a Raider. The Recluse’s intelligence stat is also now similar to that of a Raider’s.

The change is seemingly irreversible for the rest of the expedition.

Grants an accessory that provides extra runes dropped by defeated enemies. This is automatically equipped upon retrieval but can be unequipped to remove both its positive and negative effects.

HP constantly drains slowly.

I want resistance to ailments

Grant ezra resistances to ailments.

I want the power of a demon

An eye periodically appears above the player which can shoot projectiles at enemies.

Madness builds up within the player whenever the eye does appear

I desire a powerful weapon

Grants a powerful weapon.

I want to gain many levels

Grants the player three additional levels.

Every time a flask is used, one level is lost.

Out in the wild

Sometimes, you’ll encounter the Scale-Bearing Merchant during your expeditions and it will curse you with a spell that caps your maximum HP. This is an incredibly detrimental effect that needs to be removed ASAP and in order to do so, you must pay a Rune fine upwards to 35,000 (or attack and try to kill it, which it will then turn into a less powerful but still tough version of Libra, Creature of Night).

Screenshot: FromSoftware / George Yang / Kotaku

If you decide to pay it off, it’ll also let you bargain for one of its boons. This version also has its own set of boons, which are worded a bit differently but have similar effects:

  • Take resistance to status ailments
  • Take enhanced armament
  • Take sacred flask
  • Take runes

Elden Ring Nightreign is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PCs.

What is LIBRA? The Solana Meme Coin That Sparked a Political Scandal

by admin June 11, 2025

Argentina’s foray into cryptocurrency took a dramatic turn in February 2025 when President Javier Milei tweeted in support of LIBRA, a Solana-based meme coin. Within hours, LIBRA crashed nearly 90%, sparking accusations of fraud and calls for Milei’s impeachment.

Among the outside entities involved with the launch of LIBRA were Kelsier Ventures, headed by CEO Hayden Davis; KIP Protocol, led by CEO Julian Peh; and Solana-based platform Meteora, which had previously facilitated launches for both the Donald and Melania Trump meme coins.

Following LIBRA’s collapse, Argentina’s stock market dropped more than 5% at its opening on February 17, 2025. This article will examine LIBRA and the scandal surrounding the latest meme coin craze.

What is LIBRA?

The LIBRA token, created by the Viva La Libertad Project, was promoted as a funding tool for Argentina’s small businesses and innovative projects—an unusual use case for a meme coin, which are mostly driven by internet phenomena, celebrities, and humor.

“This private project will be dedicated to encouraging the growth of the Argentine economy by funding small Argentine businesses and startups,” Milei said in a since-deleted post that included the project website and contract address. Milei subsequently denied having any advance knowledge of the LIBRA project.

Image: X

LIBRA has a max supply of 1 billion tokens. According to the Libertad Project website, LIBRA token distribution would split 50% to Argentina Growth, 20% to Treasury, and 30% to Liquidity.

On February 17, 2025, the token reached an all-time high of $0.75, according to CoinGecko data. At the time, LIBRA’s market capitalization had reached $4.5 billion. Hours later, it sharply declined, triggering fraud investigations and impeachment calls against Milei.

In May 2025, Milei shuttered an investigative task force set up to look into potential wrongdoing on his part; a month later, the country’s anti-corruption unit cleared the president over his involvement with LIBRA, stating that he was acting in a personal capacity when tweeting about the project. As of June 2025, a federal criminal probe into the affair is still ongoing.

Did you know?

The Solana-based meme coin LIBRA, though it shares its name with the original moniker of Facebook’s abortive attempt at a digital currency (subsequently renamed Diem) has no affiliation with that project.

A short timeline of events: the LIBRA token scandal

On February 15, 2025, the Office of the President provided a timeline of early events related to the creation and launch of the LIBRA meme coin.

October 19, 2024 – Initial meeting with KIP Protocol

  • The Office of the President reported that President Javier Milei met with representatives of the KIP Protocol in Argentina.
  • The representatives informed Milei of their intention to develop a project called “Viva la Libertad” using blockchain technology to finance private ventures in Argentina.

January 30, 2025 – Meeting with Hayden Mark Davis

  • President Milei held a meeting at Casa Rosada with Hayden Mark Davis.
  • According to KIP Protocol representatives, Davis would provide the technological infrastructure for the project.
  • The Office of the President clarified that Davis had no prior connection with the Argentine government and was presented as a partner of KIP Protocol.

February 17, 2025 – The rise and fall of LIBRA

  • Milei promotes LIBRA: Argentina’s President Javier Milei announced the launch of the Solana-based meme coin LIBRA, which was promoted as a way to fund small businesses and startups.
  • Pre-Launch insider activity: According to a report by TRM Labs, 20 minutes before Milei’s announcement, an address received 1 million $LIBRA tokens and added them to a Meteora liquidity pool.
  • All-time high: LIBRA reached $0.75, giving it a market capitalization of $4.5 billion.
  • Rapid decline: The price crashed nearly 90% within hours, triggering accusations of fraud and a pump-and-dump scheme.
  • Liquidity withdrawals: Wallets linked to the LIBRA team withdrew $7.8 million in SOL, contributing to the price collapse.

February 18, 2025 – The fallout begins

  • Argentina’s stock market dropped more than 5% at the opening in Buenos Aires, adding to financial instability.
  • Milei deleted his post promoting LIBRA and denied prior knowledge of the project, as a judge was assigned to head a probe into fraud allegations.
  • Investors accused KIP Protocol and its CEO, Julian Peh, Kelsier Ventures and its CEO, Hayden Davis, Mauricio Novelli, and Manuel Godoy of the Tech Forum Argentina of wrongdoing in the LIBRA scandal.

Insider trading allegations

Experts suspect the LIBRA token collapsed due to insider activity. According to San Francisco-based analytics firm TRM Labs, 20 minutes before President Milei’s tweet, one address received 1 million LIBRA tokens, added them to a Meteora liquidity pool, and distributed more to other addresses that did the same.

Soon after, on-chain investigation firm Bubblemaps identified that wallets linked to the LIBRA team had withdrawn $87 million in SOL from the pool, gradually crashing LIBRA’s price.

In addition to allegations of fraud against Milei, investors accused KIP Protocol and its CEO, Julian Peh, Kelsier Ventures and its CEO, Hayden Davis, Mauricio Novelli, and Manuel Godoy of the Tech Forum Argentina of wrongdoing in the LIBRA scandal.

On February 17, 2025, Davis told Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy that Davis was “sitting on $100 million” following LIBRA’s launch—further fueling the controversy. Davis claimed he did not intend to run off with the money.

“It’s not mine,” Davis said. “It’s Argentina’s.”

That same day, on-chain analysis revealed that the Solana-based platform Meteora—known for creating the TRUMP and MELANIA meme coins—was also behind the LIBRA token. Following the collapse of LIBRA and emerging insider trading allegations, Meteora co-founder Ben Chow resigned.

A month later, Argentine lawyer Gregorio Dalbon formally sought Davis’ international detention; as of June 2025, Interpol has yet to approve a Red Notice.

In a tweet, Solana-based exchange Jupiter said that the launch of LIBRA had been an “open secret” in meme coin circles. The exchange said that it found no evidence of insider trading or “sniping” by its own team members following an internal investigation, adding that the company takes claims of insider trading “EXTREMELY seriously.”

“The memecoin launch game is a dirty game with plenty of ugly behavior,” Jupiter wrote. “We, however, have nothing to hide.”

“We were completely unaware of the dealings between the principals, in this case Milei and the market makers, and were not involved in it in any way, shape, or form,” Jupiter added.

According to a report by Nansen, only 14% of LIBRA investors turned a profit, collectively making $180 million from the token’s launch, while 86% of those who invested in LIBRA lost $251 million.

Notably, per data from Nansen, two wallets that purchased $LIBRA at 22:01 UTC and sold by 22:44 UTC on February 14 collectively profited $5.4 million, with one wallet, HyzGo2, pocketing $5.1 million. Meanwhile, Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy lost $6.3 million through investing in Libra but was later refunded $5 million.

LIBRA Scandal Resolution: Javier Milei’s Conduct Deemed Ethical By Anti-Corruption Office

by admin June 10, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Argentina’s President Javier Milei has been exonerated by the country’s Anti-Corruption Office regarding his involvement in the controversial LIBRA memecoin scandal, which resulted in significant financial losses for investors.

The announcement, made by local media, indicates that the office found no legal violations in Milei’s promotion of the cryptocurrency earlier this year.

No Legal Breach Found

In a resolution released on Friday, the Anti-Corruption Office stated that Milei acted in his capacity as an economist rather than a public official when he endorsed the LIBRA cryptocurrency on social media platform X (previously Twitter) in February.

According to the resolution, Milei’s personal account was established long before his presidency and was not linked to any official state actions related to the cryptocurrency.

The office, led by Alejandro Melik, who was appointed by Milei’s administration in December 2023, emphasized that no state procedures or contracts involving the LIBRA memecoin were identified. Notably, the Anti-Corruption Office initiated its investigation at Milei’s own request.

While the ruling clears Milei of wrongdoing, the case remains under investigation by courts in Argentina, the US, and Spain. In April, Argentina’s lower house voted to form a commission to probe the scandal, but the ruling party has stymied efforts to advance the investigation.

LIBRA Scandal Investigated

The LIBRA scandal erupted on February 14, when President Milei publicly endorsed the cryptocurrency, claiming it would strengthen the Argentine economy by supporting small businesses.

His announcement included a “contract number” that allowed potential investors to locate the token, which was not listed on major exchanges. Initially, the value of LIBRA surged to over $5 but plummeted to nearly worthless within hours, leading to massive losses for thousands of investors.

Milei’s collaboration with Hayden Davis, the creator of the LIBRA memecoin, has drawn scrutiny. Reports indicate that Milei met with Davis multiple times prior to the token’s launch, facilitated by Argentine businessmen Mauricio Novelli and Manuel Terrones Godoy.

These meetings raised concerns, particularly after Sergio Morales, a former advisor to Argentina’s National Securities Commission (CNV), resigned amid a prosecutor’s investigation into his possible involvement in the scandal.

The resolution from the Anti-Corruption Office includes numerous references to US Supreme Court cases and discusses the complexities of distinguishing between personal and institutional responsibilities.

It concluded that while Milei occasionally referenced public policies on his personal account, he did so in a non-official capacity, as the account predates his governmental responsibilities.

As of now, the memecoin trades at $0.030, down over 96% from its all-time high reached on February 14. However, over the monthly time frame, the token has registered gains of 37%.

No foul play in Javier Milei’s Libra crypto promo, says anti-corruption office

No foul play in Javier Milei’s Libra crypto promo, says anti-corruption office

by admin June 9, 2025

Argentina’s federal anti-corruption authority has cleared President Javier Milei of any wrongdoing for his February support of the cryptocurrency token Libra.

The office mentioned that his social media endorsement was made in a personal capacity without using federal resources.

The anti-corruption office, operating under a government ministry, concluded that Milei’s X post promoting the token did not violate federal ethics laws governing public officials. However, a separate federal criminal court investigation into the matter remains ongoing.

What was the origin of the LIBRA controversy?

As part of a project named “Viva La Libertad” (Long Live Freedom), Delaware-registered corporation Kelsier Ventures introduced the Libra (LIBRA) token on Feb. 14. Within minutes of its launch, President Milei posted about it on his X account.

Additionally, he defined it as an endeavor to boost Argentine economic expansion by assisting startups and small enterprises with private investment made possible by blockchain technology.

Milei described the token as a valid private economic endeavor and posted the token’s blockchain contract address as part of his support.

Within 40 minutes, the price of LIBRA surged from near-zero to approximately $5 per token. It also reached a peak market capitalization of roughly $4.5 billion.

The euphoria proved short-lived as the token’s founders, who controlled approximately 70% of the total supply, liquidated their holdings at peak prices.

This massive sell-off triggered an 85% price collapse within hours. It also caused losses between $100 million and $250 million

Milei has consistently denied any improper conduct and maintained that his social media activity was intended to raise awareness about cryptocurrency’s potential to support Argentine businesses rather than encourage direct investment. The president emphasized that his posts followed a meeting with Libra’s founders and represented personal views.

The anti-corruption office’s decision focuses specifically on whether Milei violated ethics rules for public officials. They concluded that personal social media usage does not constitute improper use of government resources.

The ongoing federal criminal investigation examines different aspects of the case and potentially includes securities law violations and market manipulation charges. Criminal courts operate independently from administrative ethics reviews, which means separate legal proceedings could reach different conclusions.

Argentina Clears Javier Milei in Libra Token Controversy

by admin June 8, 2025

Argentina’s Anti-Corruption Office has cleared President Javier Milei in the Libra crypto controversy, saying he didn’t break any public ethics rules. The investigation looked into a post-Milei made back in February on his personal X account, where he promoted the Libra ($LIBRA) token.

At first, the token soared in value, but it later crashed hard, causing outrage and financial losses for many investors.

The OA concluded that Milei was acting in a personal capacity and that his post did not involve any public resources or reflect official government policy.

“In short, [Milei’s promotional post], which is not connected to administrative acts, has no allocation of public resources or institutional support, should be interpreted as an act of individual or private communication that has not generated any official public policy direction of any kind,” the report noted. With that, the OA determined that there was no misuse of office or unethical conduct on Milei’s part.

The controversy began when Milei publicly endorsed the Libra cryptocurrency, describing it as a way to empower small businesses and startups in Argentina. The Libra token shot up fast, reaching a market cap of over $2 billion, but it didn’t last long. Within days, it crashed by more than 90%, leaving many everyday investors with heavy losses.

After the collapse, Milei quietly deleted his original post about the token, but by then, the damage was done. Local media quickly labeled the whole episode “Cryptogate,” and opposition leaders started calling for his impeachment. Angry investors also began filing lawsuits, saying they were misled by the promotion.

Feeling the heat, Milei himself called on the Anti-Corruption Office to investigate whether he, or anyone in his government, had done anything wrong. While the OA’s report may bring a close to the administrative probe, the political fallout hasn’t entirely faded.

The case drew further scrutiny in May when a federal judge requested access to Milei’s bank records, along with those of his sister, who reportedly had some level of communication with Hayden Davis, one of the creators of the Libra token.

Not long after, Milei’s government quietly dissolved the investigation unit handling the case, stating that its work had been completed and handed over to the public prosecutor.

Meanwhile, legal troubles surrounding the case are still very much alive. A federal criminal investigation remains open, and a separate class action lawsuit involving plaintiffs from Argentina, the United States, and the United Kingdom is moving through the courts.

In a major development, Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, recently froze two wallets linked to Davis, which held over $58 million. This action followed a court order from the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York.

According to the OA’s report, Davis first met Milei on January 30, but officials stressed that Davis “had and has no ties to the Argentine government” and was introduced to Milei by representatives of KIP Protocol, who were partners in the Libra project.

Elden Ring Nightreign: How To Defeat Libra

by admin May 30, 2025

In Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll face off against many difficult bosses. During Day Three, you’ll fight the Nightlord, your final challenge. Hopefully, you’ve prepared over the first two days to take it on.

GameStop Doubles Down On Crypto With Massive Bitcoin Purchase As Stores Close

On one of the missions, your target is the Equilibrious Beast named Libra, Creature of Night. This goat-like creature can be an incredibly difficult boss, but there’s a solid strategy you can use to make sure it never uses one of its most powerful attacks..

Preparation

For this Nightlord, have at least one person play as the ranged character, Ironeye—this is essential to avoid Libra’s most powerful attack. Two Ironeye characters would be even better if you’re willing to roll with that. Ideally, the third character should use Wylder for its powerful attacks, especially its Ultimate.

Libra uses the Madness element, but it’s also weak to it. Unfortunately, weapons and equipment that inflict Madness are hard to come by during expeditions. However, if you do find them, make sure to take them for this battle.

Libra is also weak against fire and holy attacks, so if you see any camps or structures with those elemental icons on the map, make sure to travel to them, beat the boss, and potentially secure a corresponding elemental weapon.

Strategies for fighting Libra

Screenshot: FromSoftware / George Yang / Kotaku

Libra only has one phase for the entire fight, but there’s one attack in particular you should look out for that we’ll discuss at the end.

First, try to stay close to Libra so that it only attacks you with its staff. If you’re far away, it’ll try to target you with its Madness-inducing spells, including one that invokes a circle under you that triggers an explosion. These attacks aren’t too difficult to dodge; you’re good as long as you’re not in the middle of an attack animation. Another attack to be mindful of is one that sprays a large beam of Madness energy right. This one is very easy to dodge as long as you’re not directly in front of Libra. So keep your positioning in mind.

Screenshot: FromSoftware / George Yang / Kotaku

Crystals are scattered on the map whenever Libra uses magic. Run into these crystals to decrease your Madness meter while also building your Madness resistance.

Libra will also create yellow clouds that rain down Madness. Avoid standing below these clouds.

When Libra starts meditating and encases itself in a bubble, you’ve got problems. This is its most dangerous attack. After three sigils form around it and Libra completes the attack, it will gain a defense boost that you certainly don’t want to deal with.

Screenshot: FromSoftware / George Yang / Kotaku

You can shoot the three sigils down with ranged attacks from characters like Ironeye. This disrupts Libra’s meditation entirely. However, there’s an even more efficient method to disrupting the attack.

Instead of attacking the sigils, have someone on your team use their Ultimate Art on Libra itself while it’s meditating. That will immediately break the attack and cause the three sigils to disappear. Libra will become angry and attack frantically with its staff, but that’s preferable to it getting a defense boost.

Make sure that your other two teammates have their Ultimates on deck in case Libra tries to do this attack again. Rotate between your squad’s three Ultimates to stop the meditation attack, ensuring that Libra will never get that defense boost. Eventually, it’ll fall.

Circle Freezes $58 Million Worth of USDC in Solana Wallets Tied to Libra Scandal

by admin May 29, 2025

In brief

  • USDC token accounts tied to the Libra team were frozen by stablecoin issuer, Circle.
  • The accounts held nearly $58 million worth of USDC, which is now immovable.
  • The Libra token launch ignited a political scandal which rocked Argentina and the cryptocurrency market in February.

The Libra meme coin scandal, which rocked the cryptocurrency market and global politics earlier this year because of its association with Argentine President Javier Milei, has taken another turn.

USDC accounts belonging to two wallets tied to the Libra meme coin team and token deployer were frozen on Tuesday, locking up nearly $58 million worth of stablecoins on Solana that can no longer be sold or transferred.

The accounts, tagged as frozen on Solana block explorer Solscan, maintain $44.59 million and $13.06 million in USDC, a stablecoin issued by Circle that is pegged to the value of the U.S. dollar.

Because the USDC stablecoin’s minting and issuance is controlled by Circle, the firm is able to freeze or “blacklist” tokens in accordance with its blacklisting policy. Major stablecoin issuers like Circle and Tether have been known to blacklist addresses when connected to major exploits, like the $1.4 billion hack of Bybit back in February.

Circle did not immediately respond to Decrypt’s request for comment. At the moment, it’s unclear who, exactly, requested the freeze, with multiple parties taking to X to claim credit.

Crypto-focused law firm Burwick Law said that the freeze is due to a temporary restraining order issued at its request. Meanwhile, Martin Romeo, a plaintiff in the Argentinian case around the Libra token, famously promoted by President Javier Milei, said the freeze resulted from a request from Argentina’s justice department.

“Yesterday, a federal court in SDNY entered a temporary restraining order at our request, Burwick Law, supported by Tim Treanor, freezing approximately 57.65 million USDC held at Circle, which you can now see confirmed on Solscan,” Max Burwick said in a statement shared with Decrypt. “We’ll return to court on June 9, 2025 for a preliminary injunction hearing to keep those assets frozen through the rest of this litigation.”

Burwick previously filed a class-action suit against Kelsier Ventures and Meteora, including some named executives from the parties, for their respective roles in the Libra token scandal.

The Solana-based Libra token, which President Milei promoted at launch on X in February, quickly shot up to a multi-billion-dollar market cap before plummeting nearly 90% shortly thereafter, leading to accusations of a pump-and-dump scheme as wallets connected to the token cashed out profits.

Later, President Milei was charged with fraud, and the government set up a task force to investigate the matter. That task force was scrapped last week.

On Tuesday, Circle filed for its initial public offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange, targeting a $6.7 billion valuation.

Argentine President Milei Shutters Task Force Investigating Libra Meme Coin Scandal

by admin May 20, 2025

In brief

  • Argentine President Javier Milei promoted a meme coin, LIBRA, in February.
  • The Solana-based token rocketed up in value before crashing—leading to investigations.
  • But the government has scrapped one body tasked with investigating the Argentine leader.

Argentine President Javier Milei has scrapped a body tasked with investigating his role in February’s controversial Libra (LIBRA) meme coin launch.

Documents published on the government’s website on Tuesday show that the body was dissolved in a move approved by Javier Milei. Per the website, the task force had completed its investigation—but it didn’t reveal further details to the public.

President Milei in February was hit with criminal charges after advertising a meme coin called Libra, which he said would benefit Argentina. His government set up an investigative task force to look into any potential wrongdoing, following political pressure.

There was uproar from the opposition and citizens alike following the release of the Solana-based Libra; the coin rocketed up in value before crashing hard, leading some investors and industry observers to claim the launch was a pump-and-dump scheme.

A criminal investigation is still ongoing.

In the world of crypto, meme coins are digital coins that are typically based on internet culture, jokes, or people and events in the news. Thousands of these assets are minted and released some days, and very few manage to gain any substantial value. Fewer still hold onto that value.

President Milei denied any wrongdoing following the launch. Decrypt reached out to the government for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.

But the Argentine leader might have chosen the right time to scrap the committee, according to James Bosworth, founder of Washington D.C.-based risk analysis consultancy Hxagon, which focuses on Latin America.

“Milei is riding high right now,” he told Decrypt. “His effort to drop currency controls has gone about as well as hoped and the peso is stable. He just won a small election in the capital. There is no better moment for him to shut down this investigation, preventing bad info from being released right before the midterm elections later this year.”

The price of Libra has spiked 60% over the past 24 hours, per data from CoinGecko, perhaps from investors eager to see the controversy fade and for the coin to potentially take on a second life. At a daily peak above $0.04 earlier, it’s the highest price seen for Libra in nearly a month.

President Milei won the presidency in 2023 after campaigning to combat the South American country’s sky-high inflation.

The eccentric leader has so far managed to lower prices in Argentina, which struggles with one of the highest inflation rates in the world. Last weekend, the president’s party won the capital’s legislative election.

Meme coins made headlines this year after President Trump released his own official Solana token ahead of his inauguration.

The Solana-based meme coin shot up in price following a trading frenzy before dropping hard. While down 81% from peak, TRUMP remains the 52nd biggest cryptocurrency on the market. Its launch has attracted criticism from lawmakers who have argued the cryptocurrency constitutes a conflict of interest.

President Milei attracted controversy before becoming Argentina’s leader, when in 2022 investors sued him for allegedly promoting a crypto investment platform that promised huge returns to users
